Olive branch

I would like to take the time to apologise to those I've had arguments with over the years and to those that I've essentially been a dick too over the years too,

I remember in 2014-2015 essentially finding my feet here and by 2016 making a good few friends .... and then unfortunately by 2017 I sort of changed essentially becoming someone I'm not - Telling everyone to F Off and simply not caring about the way I treat people,

If 2019 has taught me anything it's that you can lose friends and those closest to you easier than you gained them (if that makes sense), "Appreciate what you have before it turns into something you had" is a quote I wish I followed and it's a quote that certainly applies now (Not death-wise thankfully but friendship/relationship-wise),

Coming in to 2020 I would like to stop getting into or inserting myself into unneeded disputes (or commenting on disputes (Such as ANI, AE etc)) and instead focus my time and energy on articles, putting our readers first and building friendships with people along the way,

Anyway I again apologise to those I've had arguments with over the years and I would like to offer this olive branch for peace between us,

Anyway I wish everyone a very Happy and Healthy New Year and I wish you all the very best for 2020    . Dave /// –Davey2010Talk 13:14, 1 January 2020 (UTC)

Happy New Year!!

Hi Crystallizedcarbon, You're very welcome and thank you for your greeting too :),

My very best wishes for you too as well Davey. The final hours of last year with friends and family were great, the first day of the year just doing nothing was also good. Now fully energized to take on this new decade!. --Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 10:08, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
Hey -Crystallizedcarbon, I'm glad you enjoyed your time with family and I'm glad you did nothing on the 1st :) - Like you I spent it with family and too did nothing,
Haha well 2nd, 3rd and 4th January I'm currently doing 8 hours shifts so I don't feel very energized at all lol,
Anyway all the best for 2020, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 19:06, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
Time with loved ones and time with yourself is a good start, and that's what counts. Cheers. --Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 21:03, 2 January 2020 (UTC)

The pilot in command of an aircraft is the person aboard who is ultimately responsible for its operation and safety during flight. This would be the captain in a typical two- or three-pilot aircrew, or "pilot" if there is only one certificated and qualified pilot at the controls of an aircraft.

thanks for pointing how that was not the right space for what i was looking for there...

but it still kept me wondering why there's no mention of chrome://flags in the article. isn't this something worth mentioning and discussing? cregox (T | C) 13:14, 29 January 2020 (UTC)

cool. i'll try. got little idea what you mean for the signature... but i also probably don't care enough to fix it now. that signature was coded over a decade ago. 15:15, 29 January 2020 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cregox (talkcontribs)

Asking for input at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Bath School disaster/archive1

Bath School disaster is my first WP:FAC nom. I've been working on it for ages and don't want the FAC to possibly die on the vine (so far one editor has weighed in - with Support). Your thoughts/a review would be welcomed on its FAC page. Thanks, Shearonink (talk) 18:00, 10 March 2020 (UTC)

Regarding a edit you made last month

Hello Davey, I would just like to request for your comments on a rather bold edit you made to List of bus routes in Singapore, specifically this edit: [27].

1. I should point out that the removal of the "direction" column and its replacement with "Origin" and "Destination" columns is... misleading at best, and is factually incorrect information at worst, since the table (as it currently stands now) now implies that every bus route listed is one-way from origin to destination, with no return trip (which is false; many bus services in Singapore ply in both directions). As a result, the list as it stands now currently makes no distinction between dual-direction bus services and single-direction bus services (and loop services); the purpose of the "direction" column was to make this distinction clear. Could you please clarify why this change was required?

2. You also removed the "Remarks" column in the same edit. I find that the remarks in many of the bus services essentially function as the histories of the respective bus services. Such content should be kept, as per WP:PRESERVE. I understand that a significant number of the sources in this section are from SBS Transit, and is thus considered a primary source; however, as per WP:PRIMARYCARE, this does not mean that the content should be removed (and besides, having information that is "useless to people outside Singapore" shouldn't be grounds for removal of content.) Moreover, other sources found in the Remarks are from secondary sources, such as the Land Transport Authority, and should also be kept per WP:GNG (and in fact, since it just concerns content in a list, WP:GNG does not apply, see WP:NNC instead. This means that the only policies that would apply here would be the content policies [specifically the policy on verification], which both the primary SBS Transit source and other secondary sources meet.) Any comment on this?

3. I support your last remaining change you made in the same edit, namely the removal of the section "Former Routes"; as SBS Transit has recently removed/deleted all of their press releases from December 2013 and earlier, most sources in that section are dead links now anyway, and I'm unsure if the vast majority of them have been archived.

Cheers from JaventheAldericky (talk) 16:51, 9 March 2020 (UTC)

Hi JaventheAldericky, Not to be awkward in way, shape or form ... but I really have nothing else to say that I didn't already say in my edit summary,
The table is there to sort of state the to, from and via destinations and who runs that service .... The parameters such as Direction, Remarks (such as "White plate travels via Bedok North Street 3. Green plate returns via Bedok North Street 3. Extended to 1.00 am on the eves of Public Holiday" and Looped at Holland Drive until 17 December 2006.[143]") mean absolutely nothing to any one outside of Singapore,
Compare this article with say List of bus routes in London - Generally speaking that's how an article is supposed to look like,
You're more than welcome to reinsert the deleted material and then start an WP:RFC on the talkpage however my feeling is that be that it would be agreed the content I removed was correct and that even tho the remarks were sourced it would be deemed as "bus entuisast" content or again content that means nothing to anyone else, That being said I can't read minds and may well be surprised myself!,
Hope this reply helps, Many thanks, Regards, –Davey2010Talk 17:32, 9 March 2020 (UTC)
I see. Thanks for the reply! I was, in fact, using the List of bus routes in London article as a comparison with the List of bus routes in Singapore article. One key difference I've noted is that a significant number of the bus routes in London have standalone articles of them (compared to none for Singapore). Most of those bus routes with standalone articles each have a significant history section detailing a specific bus route's history. This kinda is more or less what the "Remarks" section's content was all about (with some exceptions) - that is, that section was where the history of each of the bus routes was placed, in summarised form (as seen in your example of Looped at Holland Drive until 17 December 2006.", as well as other examples like Route extended from Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal to Airport Logistics Park Of Singapore (ALPS) from 15 December 2014., or like this rather wordy Amended to operate from Resorts World Sentosa from 29 January 2010. Route extended to serve Marina Bay Sands from 7 May 2010. Route heading toward City ceased from 30 April 2014.); since no bus routes in Singapore are notable enough to warrant their own articles, that "Remarks" column was pretty much the only place to put the route's history in.
What I think I can do tomorrow is to reinstate the deleted content (save for the "Former routes" section, unless I can actually find archived sources), but edit it for further clarification (e.g renaming the "Remarks" section to "Route history" maybe) and then remove really unnecessary detail like Express along TPE, and condense wordy history descriptions like the wordy example I gave above. Should someone else disagree with my change and revert it, I can go get a RfC going (though it would be my first time creating a RfC, oh well) for further discussion to reach a consensus.
Cheers from JaventheAldericky (talk) 15:46, 11 March 2020 (UTC)
Hi JaventheAldericky, I'm not a great lover with having the "introduced" column(s) back however sourcing wise it'd obviously go in the articles favour and helps keep the article here atleast in the long run so i guess it can be added back providing each and every one is sourced,
I also have no objections to you reverting any of the edits providing obviously the cruft aspect of it isn't brought back if it is we can discuss it :),
Many thanks, Regards, –Davey2010Talk 16:26, 11 March 2020 (UTC)

Mercedes-Benz Citaro page improvements

Hallo,

at first, I apologize that I undid your edits yesterday several times. I just tried to recover deleted contents, so I ask you to have understanding.

However, I have questions on you. You said that several newly added images on this page were awful. I have added these new images because I thought more necessary images will help people to understand the topic better. I didn’t know that the images must meet certain criteria to appear on the page. Could you explain what the picture requirements are?

So for example, the current title picture is about a Citaro C2 with Euro V standard. The most recent version of Citaro C2 is however with Euro VI standard, so an update of this image is required. I replaced the old one with a picture of BVG Berlin Citaro (with Euro VI), but you still want to keep the old one. Is instead an usage of a title image currently used on other wikipedia pages e.g. German version (de.wikipedia.org) allowed on English page? Or I must search for other images on Wikimedia Commons?

The same problem is also valid for an image of eCitaro. I’m waiting for your answer.

Kind regards Mingyu Tang Technology enthusiast (including buses) Mingyu Tang (talk) 21:11, 31 March 2020 (UTC)

Hi Mingyu Tang, No need to apologise, This was entirely my error so my sincere apologies to you for yesterday,
Having compared both revisions today I realised you had actually improved the article and its images and I realised the images were related to the article headings,
My only problem is the infobox image (File:Mercedes C2 Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe .jpg) - That image is not as good as the now current image, I don't see anything wrong with this image,
Thanks, Kind Regards, –Davey2010Talk 21:16, 31 March 2020 (UTC)
Hallo Davey2010,
thank you for your fast answer. I understand that you want to improve the quality of title image, BUT the bus model shown in the picture is no longer current. The newest version of Citaro C2 is with Euro VI standard. You can recognize a bump on the back roof of Euro VI version, which is missing on the Euro V version.
So I still have to ask you: Is it ok when I update the title image to that used on German Wikipedia page? The Citaro is shown in the newest model there.
Kind regards Mingyu Tang (talk) 21:30, 31 March 2020 (UTC)
Hi Mingyu Tang, So is File:Mercedes Citaro C2 TANGO n°372 Romarins (cropped).jpg Euro VI ?, I assume so but wanted to double check, The image is from the German Wikipedia but I've cropped it :), Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 21:49, 31 March 2020 (UTC)
Hallo Davey2010,
yes, this is the file what I mean. I see that you cropped the image. Nice work!
So do you mean I could update the infobox image to https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Mercedes_Citaro_C2_TANGO_n%C2%B0372_Romarins_(cropped).jpg? When you permit, then I can carry out this action right now.
Kind regards Mingyu Tang (talk) 08:02, 1 April 2020 (UTC)
Hi Mingyu Tang, Ah okay brilliant many thanks for updating the image :),
Have a great day, Thanks, Kind Regards, –Davey2010Talk 09:23, 1 April 2020 (UTC)

List of bus routes in Singapore images

Hello there, I left a talk section on the talk page of List of bus routes in Singapore.

I feel you should replace the image on the top. It looks very untidy with the product placement, and besides it is only partially lush green; whereas the images I put up before you replaced them appear neater, nicer and are fully lush green. Don't you think so?

The ones that I have put up previously:

You may leave the the other image as it is, but please replace the image on top because it's really uncomfortable for users to read. 2679D (talk) 12:43, 2 April 2020 (UTC)

Replied on the article talkpage, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 15:01, 2 April 2020 (UTC)

Brisbane Transport Wikipedia Page

Hello, I am curious on why you decided to revert the Brisbane Transport Wikipedia page back to what it was prior to me doing the most recent edit. I spent a lot of time working on this taking most of the photos in the section 'Fleet' so if you could tell me why it would be greatly appreciated. Also if you do reply and I don't respond for a while it is because it is just turning over to Saturday in Australia so I won't be back online for a while. Kind Regards, EamonM25 (talk) 13:54, 3 April 2020 (UTC)

Hi EamonM25, My sincere apologies, I thought this was the revision you were reinstating and for some unknown reason I thought was the latest revision, I hadn't realised you had fixed the mistakes so my sincere apologies,
I've removed the warnings from your talkpage,
Thanks, Regards, –Davey2010Talk 14:11, 3 April 2020 (UTC)
Hello,
I have just been back over the page and I have noticed that even the work that I have done prior to the major work done today was deleted. ::With the Brisbane City Council, they are well known for doing special liveries for anything related to their buses (advertisements for brands not included). I personally believe that the work I have done makes the Brisbane Transport page more interesting for the viewer as they can come and have a look at some of the history of Brisbane Buses and a lot of special things and features.
Kind Regards,
EamonM25 (talk) 14:25, 3 April 2020 (UTC)
Hi EamonM25, Sorry but the content needs sourcing, Each vehicle and each livery section needs to be sourced to justify that table,
I've pasted the content to User:EamonM25/Brisbane Transport so you can work on this if wanted :),
Thanks, Regards, –Davey2010Talk 14:41, 3 April 2020 (UTC)
Hello,
I received a message that my sourcing was incorrect and at the moment I am very confused as in my Talk Page you claimed "As I explained to you here you need to source each livery and each vehicle, If there are no sources then I'm afraid it doesn't get added here." I am confused as when you check each image you can see that it says the source with a link to where it came from. Overall I am not calling you anything negative I am simply asking what you specifically mean as I believe I have met the protocols you asked for with my sourcing.\
Kind Regards,
EamonM25 (talk) 11:24, 5 April 2020 (UTC)
Hi EamonM25, Please read:
and also read Help:Referencing for beginners, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 11:32, 5 April 2020 (UTC)
Hello,
I am just asking you before I make the necessary changes.
Would this count: As at February 2018, the fleet consisted of 1,240 buses.[1]
I took that from the ==Fleet== section of the page so if that is made to all liveries will it be acceptable for it to be published?
Also, overall would it have to be the text in the liveries or everything in the tables?
Kind Regards,
EamonM25 (talk) 11:38, 5 April 2020 (UTC)
Hi EamonM25, Unfortunately that cite is now dead so cannot be used,
Inre special livery - Only the livery name needs to be sourced, Stuff like "delivery date and what not shouldn't be there,
Many thanks, Regards, –Davey2010Talk 12:26, 5 April 2020 (UTC)
Hello,
So overall I just need to reference the table with it's name. Will the sourcing need to be necessary in the sections such as "XXX out of 500" or "NAIDOC Week" if I already have them in the table which contains the Livery Name, Picture and Fleet Number? Overall I did make the sourcing on the names of the buses as there are multiple available. You can check it out in the history section of the article next to edit but I did leave the previous edit you did up there as I do not want to be banned.
EamonM25 (talk) 12:39, 5 April 2020 (UTC)
EamonM25 you're wearing down my patience, Please stop reverting, and Yes the livery name only needs sourcing,
Again you have the article at Transport so please work on that and leave this article alone for the time being, Thanks. –Davey2010Talk 13:01, 5 April 2020 (UTC)
Hello,
Have fun with your work as I shall now cease to ever edit articles on Wikipedia ever again.
Goodbye — Preceding unsigned comment added by ::::::::::EamonM25 (talkcontribs) 08:25, 6 April 2020 (UTC)
Hi EamonM25, That's a shame but okay, Cheerio. –Davey2010Talk 10:41, 6 April 2020 (UTC)
Honestly don't see you trying to get me banned if I already said I would never do Wikipedia edits again.

References

  1. ^ Bus Fleet Allocation - Summary Brisbane Transport Buses

Chatham Dockyard

Hi - I am just a bit concerned about all the references you have removed from this article. Somebody has diligently used MacDougall's book to write or expand this article. It is now a bit of a mess with the references removed. If MacDougall is unreliable and the material came from MacDougall then the material should be removed. But is MacDougall really unreliable? Views welcome. Thanks. Dormskirk (talk) 16:28, 3 April 2020 (UTC)

Hi Dormskirk, Unfortunately 2-3 years ago Phillip was using various IPs to add his books across a whole ton of articles, Once they were found out and reverted they resorted to creating an account which got indeffed, Since then I've removed their books across all articles,
I appreciate this could be considered disruptive seeing as their books are okay however I disagree with someone coming along and adding all their books to various articles in an attempt to promote themselves, and whilst Hsq7278 added the book in good faith I still object to any of his work being used here solely because of the promotional attempt,
Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 17:35, 3 April 2020 (UTC)
Thanks for that. I certainly agree that using IPs to promote his books is unacceptable. I will continue to try and find some alternative sources for the Chatham Dockyard article. Best wishes. Dormskirk (talk) 17:40, 3 April 2020 (UTC)
Dormskirk no worries, Many thanks for your work over there I greatly appreciate you taking the time to resource it, Many thanks, Kind Regards, –Davey2010Talk 17:43, 3 April 2020 (UTC)

Sourcing Former Programming lists

How do you do that? Some of old programmes on Pop that were listed had a source to back then up, or do you need separate sources for all of them? Luigitehplumber (talk) 16:05, 6 April 2020 (UTC)

Hi User:LTPHarry, Each programme needs to sourced, You're more than welcome to reinstate the list and source accordingly, Cheers, –Davey2010Talk 16:10, 6 April 2020 (UTC)
Basically, what I did a while back isn’t enough then? I found one of the channel’s older websites and it had all the programmes they aired at the time. Luigitehplumber (talk) 17:15, 6 April 2020 (UTC)
Luigitehplumber Ah I see, Yep that source is perfect!, You're more than welcome to readd that list back with that source next to those that they appear against, I would do it myself but the yellow background is unbearable!, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 17:23, 6 April 2020 (UTC)
I didn't read your message properly, so sorry if you had to put up that "Disruptive Editing" thingy on my page, although how is it? Luigitehplumber (talk) 12:28, 10 April 2020 (UTC)
Hi, No worries, You added the content back without doing what I asked which I considered to be disruptive editing, You not reading my message properly doesn't mean DE doesn't apply .... If an officer pulled you over you wouldn't say "Oh sorry officer I didn't read the speed limit properly" would you ?, You'd quite rightly be given a ticket or a fine and so it's the same here inregards to disruptive editing and the warning. Happy editing, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 12:49, 10 April 2020 (UTC)

Systemic Shock (book)

Hi there! You closed Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Systemic Shock (book) as a redirect back in 2015. I found one review, and there is one more indicated here: [38]. Do you have any objections if I were to restore the article? BOZ (talk) 15:56, 7 April 2020 (UTC)

Hi BOZ, Many thanks for asking me first I appreciate that - Nope I have no objections you're more than welcome to restore the article :), Many thanks, Take care, Kind Regards, –Davey2010Talk 16:24, 7 April 2020 (UTC)

Talk:Bhad Bhabie

Hi Davey2010. Thanks for helping out with the dispute at Talk:Bhad Bhabie. However, I think you have enough editing experience to know to focus on content and policy rather than editors, to not escalate poor behavior of others, and to not make bad faith assumptions of others. Please refactor your comment here, removing And before I'm accused of being a fan. If you would like me to refactor anything I've written, just let me know.

If you look at the article history and stats, you'll see that the major contributions are from SPAs, one indef blocked for sockpuppetry. I'm rather surprised that the article is in rather good shape, at least to the detail that I've reviewed it. I appreciate your efforts in helping to improve the article. --Hipal/Ronz (talk) 16:03, 7 April 2020 (UTC)

Hi, There was no bad faith on my part - I just felt it was necessary to point out I was not a fan of hers, Thanks. –Davey2010Talk 16:22, 7 April 2020 (UTC)
I appreciate the explanation. Thanks. --Hipal/Ronz (talk) 16:29, 7 April 2020 (UTC)
Hi Hipal/Ronz, I've since amended my comment as it certainly could've been worded better, I simply cannot stand her so didn't want anyone to assume I was bias or that "I like her so this must remain" if that makes sense,
Apologies for that comment anyway, Many thanks, Regards, –Davey2010Talk 16:41, 7 April 2020 (UTC)

Mercedes-Benz Citaro page gallery issue

Hi Davey2010,

I’ve seen that you endlessly delete my last edits. The initial purpose of my edit is to add necessary images to improve reading experience of Wikipedia readers. At first, the deletion is ok because it may disturb the layout of “CapaCity” and “Conecto” text pages. But when I see even an extra gallery section gots deleted, I cannot get the point anymore.

As a result, a discussion of this issue is highly recommended. I’m not willing to cause any more edit warring.

Best regards Mingyu Tang (talk) 14:44, 8 April 2020 (UTC)

Hi
The image on the right is how the layout looks to me and so from my perspective I don't see nothing wrong with that layout,
That being said you're more than welcome to add images underneath those 2 sections as 2 generations of the Capacity and Connecto were made but IMHO the 2 right images should continue to remain,
Many thanks, Kind Regards, –Davey2010Talk 14:57, 8 April 2020 (UTC)
Hi,
thanks for your answer. The only problem is that I don’t understand why my edits where the 2 old images remain to exist, have been removed. ::I expect an explanation.
Kind regards Mingyu Tang (talk) 15:29, 8 April 2020 (UTC)
Hi Mingyu Tang, I've reinstated the images but have kept the second generation images down the right side still as I feel having images there is better than not at all,
Many thanks, Kind Regards, –Davey2010Talk 15:34, 8 April 2020 (UTC)
Hi,
I’ve seen you added the images back. But the image of a 1st generation Conecto is not based on Citaro platform and therefore not related to the topic. This image will be removed.
Kind regards Mingyu Tang (talk) 15:47, 8 April 2020 (UTC)
Hi, Mingyu Tang, I know but I still assumed it should be included given there's no Mercedes-Benz CapaCity article but I shan't revert your removal given it wasn't there ot begin with,
Also when replying could you use indents (: < those) please :),
Thanks, Kind Regards, –Davey2010Talk 15:57, 8 April 2020 (UTC)

Eight-million pool

In this edit to the Wikipedia:Eight-million pool, did you really mean to place a guess in the year 3032? JIP | Talk 23:26, 8 April 2020 (UTC)

Hey JIP, My god that's 1011 years, 9 months and 26 days away!, Wow!, Nope I did indeed mean this century so many thanks for letting me know, Have a great day, Thanks, Regards, –Davey2010Talk 00:51, 9 April 2020 (UTC)

Pop (TV)

Hi Dave! Saw this edit summary and was concerned. Seemed out of character. Everything ok? EvergreenFir (talk) 05:30, 10 April 2020 (UTC)

Hi EvergreenFir, Apologies for that, Yep all's fine thanks I was simply frustrated with an editor completely ignoring what I just said to them,
Also inregards to the source being in the header - I would assume not all programmes are in that cite hence why I ask them to be sourced individually - Also current and upcoming programmes need to be sourced individually so I don't see why Former should be treated any different,
Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 09:54, 10 April 2020 (UTC)
Fair enough. Individual cites would make it easier to identify bad list entries in the future too. I'll add them now. Glad that things are okay. EvergreenFir (talk) 19:16, 10 April 2020 (UTC)
EvergreenFir, Many thanks for doing this I appreciate that, I would've done this myself had it not been for the awful background/text colours etc, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 19:32, 10 April 2020 (UTC)
Glad to help! EvergreenFir (talk) 19:46, 10 April 2020 (UTC)
Hi Davey and EvergreenFir. You are probably aware that that the US also has a Pop TV channel. But what I am wondering is why both stations don't sell Funko Pop items. I think that company has almost every popular film and TV show covered with their dolls. They would seem to be made for each other :-) Cheers to you both and I hope you have a pleasant and safe weekend. MarnetteD|Talk 20:07, 10 April 2020 (UTC)
Hey MarnetteD, Hope all is well with you and yours :),
Unfortunately I know nothing about the UK channel nor the US one :(, Truth be told I only know CBBC and Cbeebies as CBBC especially that was the channel I grew up watching so sorry I couldn't be of much help :(,
Thanks and I hope you have a great and safe weekend too, Stay safe, Kind Regards, –Davey2010Talk 20:24, 10 April 2020 (UTC)
Thank you D. My 25 years of collecting DVDs and Blurays has finally paid off as I have enough to keep me busy through Covid 19, 20 and the first two weeks of 21 :-D Best regards. MarnetteD|Talk 20:38, 10 April 2020 (UTC)
Hey MarnetteD, Hahaha love it! :D, I tend to watch films via another method lol, I've not bought a DVD in like 8-12 years now, Anyway I'm glad your years of DVD collecting is paying off - Amazing to think a zombie apocolypse could be happening outside and then you are comfortable at home watching DVDs :) love it!! :), Take care Marnette, –Davey2010Talk 20:46, 10 April 2020 (UTC)
When discs caused VHS tapes to be phased out who would have thought they would become as out dated as wax cylinders - HeeHee. I know your alternative is available and takes up waaay less room in the apartment but I kinda keep thinking that when the internet goes down at least I'll still be able to pull these off the shelf to watch. BTW I keep waiting for this scene to happen outside my door. In case you haven't seen it before it is from Herzog's Nosferatu the Vampyre and the townspeople think that der pest will soon be overtaking them all. Now there is a delightful thought to send you into your weekend :-/ More heehees. MarnetteD|Talk 21:11, 10 April 2020 (UTC)
Now that's one thing I do muss - VHS tapes!, Mum used to re-record over VHS tapes and some of them would go all fuzzy and weird at times ... man I miss those days!!,
Haha Marnette I actually love your thinking - Yeah if we lose internet atleast you can still watch stuff!, That's cool, Thinking ahead!, love it! :),
Haha oh nice lol, I feel like that film is sort of the entire world right now - trying to avoid everyone etc, all strange times. –Davey2010Talk 22:36, 10 April 2020 (UTC)

Strood

Davey, thanks for your updates to the Strood article at Wikivoyage. We do have a formatting policy for times and dates, which you can read here. Everyone has different formats that they prefer, but this is the policy that has been agreed upon so that readers don't have to sort through different formats in different articles, or for the matter, within an article. Regards, Ground Zero | t 11:59, 12 April 2020 (UTC)

Hey Ground Zero, Ah in that case my apologies, I assumed it was changed based on someones preferences, I didn't realise those sort of abbreviations were agreed upon so apologies for that,
Many thanks for changing those back :),

Editing news 2020 #1 – Discussion tools

Read this in another languageSubscription list

This early version of the Reply tool automatically signs and indents comments.

The Editing team has been working on the talk pages project. The goal of the talk pages project is to help contributors communicate on wiki more easily. This project is the result of the Talk pages consultation 2019.

In a future update, the team plans to test a tool for easily linking to another user's name, a rich-text editing option, and other tools.

The team is building a new tool for replying to comments now. This early version can sign and indent comments automatically. Please test the new Reply tool.

  • On 31 March 2020, the new reply tool was offered as a Beta Feature editors at four Wikipedias: Arabic, Dutch, French, and Hungarian. If your community also wants early access to the new tool, contact User:Whatamidoing (WMF).
  • The team is planning some upcoming changes. Please review the proposed design and share your thoughts on the talk page. The team will test features such as:
    • an easy way to mention another editor ("pinging"),
    • a rich-text visual editing option, and
    • other features identified through user testing or recommended by editors.

To hear more about Editing Team updates, please add your name to the "Get involved" section of the project page. You can also watch   these pages: the main project page, Updates, Replying, and User testing.

I'm retired. My job was hotel management. I didn't invest well, so unfortunately retirement doesn't mean not having to work. For me, I only shave on Sunday for church, I make no appointments before noon, and I'll never prepare and serve a praise sandwich again. John from Idegon (talk) 03:26, 15 April 2020 (UTC)

Hayter (lawn mowers)

Watcha Davey, so, a little out of my comfort zone with this one, but an interest nonetheless (I'm a passionate gardener away from this place), I started an article on Hayter, the lawnmower manufacturer, after I bought one of their machines yesterday and I saw that this 75-year-old company, amazingly, didn't have an article. It's been a holder of a Royal Warrant for 60 years, so it's prominence is well established. Being a writer of mechanical articles, I wondered if there was anything you could add? If not, then I just may know what I'm talking about after all. :) Hope you're well. CassiantoTalk 06:09, 15 April 2020 (UTC)

Hey Cass, Genuinely amazed a 75-year old company didn't even have an article especially like you say one that's held a Royal Warrant for 60 years so thank you for another fine creation :),
Unfortunately I don't really have anything else to add but if it helps you've done a fantastic job with it! :)
Yeah all's well here thanks, I hope you and yours are safe and well, Take care, Kind Regards, –Davey2010Talk 10:23, 15 April 2020 (UTC)

My bad – that one looked like it had always been ISO access-dates, but when I check it doesn't look like it was. I've "fixed". --IJBall (contribstalk) 23:37, 15 April 2020 (UTC)

Hi IJBall, No worries, Happy editing, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 00:22, 16 April 2020 (UTC)

Downtown MRT line

Hello. Why are you deleting the station list of the DTL, without any prior consensus that we are aware of? The erasure of the list should be decided by consensus, plus also other London underground tube lines and NYC services still have such station lists. Please also do not in the mean time delete the other station lists of other lines.--ZKang123 (talk) 13:49, 22 April 2020 (UTC)

Because we're not a guide nor a directory, That being said ZKang123 could you link the other articles that include similar information from London Underground, Thanks. –Davey2010Talk 14:21, 22 April 2020 (UTC)

Hi ZKang123, Ah okay I wasn't aware of those so thanks for pointing those out, Could I ask do we really need distance between each station and total distances ?, IMHO both these aren't really needed, Anyway thanks, regards, –Davey2010Talk 15:16, 22 April 2020 (UTC)

Hi TheDistance111, We don't link to copyright videos - The uploader is probably not related to the show and therefore probably doesn't own any rights to that video, Even if they are we have no proof either way but as a rule of thumb as I said we never link to copyright videos unless it's from an official channel, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 19:28, 27 April 2020 (UTC)

"Going retro"

So I use the Wayback Machine and I see that before 2014 Wikipedia used a different font. I noticed that you mentioned something about that on the technical village pump. Is there any way to put something in my vector.css or something to get the pre-2014 look? Even if I joined Wikipedia less than a year ago, I would like to what I call "go retro" and this is one way of doing it. I'm not perfect but I'm almost (talk) 21:42, 4 May 2020 (UTC)

Hey I'm not perfect but I'm almost, I believe my version (User:Davey2010/vector.css) changes the body font (and headings I believe (?)) whereas MediaWiki:Gadget-VectorClassic.css I believe changes alot more things although I don't really know what so you're more than welcome to paste either of those codes into your vector.css (User:I'm not perfect but I'm almost/vector.css) :), Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 21:50, 4 May 2020 (UTC)
Just make sure the skin you're using is Vector - Preferences > Click Appearance and then click Vector if it's not the default, if it is the default then ignore this lol. –Davey2010Talk 21:52, 4 May 2020 (UTC)

Good Afternoon, Are you able to email me please? (Redacted) Kind regards,

Steve — Preceding unsigned comment added by CharlieGizmo (talkcontribs) 16:29, 6 May 2020 (UTC)

Hi Steve, Sorry but I only keep discussions on wiki, Inregards to your images: You can go to Commons:OTRS however one of the images you uploaded was credited to someone else entirely but as I say go there and they might be able to help,
In regards to the logo - The font is much bolder (with a white background) however that's the only change so as such I'm not really seeing a valid reason to replace the logo, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 15:49, 6 May 2020 (UTC)

Moving files

I see you're a file mover.. Can you look at my last three uploads? I want to add the image to her article, but it's embarrassing to add it with the spelling error.. - Alexis Jazz 17:50, 6 May 2020 (UTC)

Hey Alexis Jazz,   Done - Moved all 3 and have also updated the links on Leos talkpage although the redirects may not be deleted but it's worth a bash :), Thanks, Kind Regards, –Davey2010Talk 17:58, 6 May 2020 (UTC)
Thanks! Pings don't arrive when not accompanied by a new signature btw, but I'm here anyway so it doesn't matter. I sometimes link the username in the edit summary when I've messed up a ping, that'll send a notice regardless of a signature being added or not. - Alexis Jazz 18:03, 6 May 2020 (UTC)
Alexis Jazz Usually if I mess up pings I always re-sign so no idea why I didn't here, Ah okay I didn't think of that will have to remember that in future,
Also slightly random but inregards to [54] - Please don't ever say you're stupid because you're not!, Everyone makes typos but that doesn't mean you're stupid or unable to spell, Sorry I absolutely hate it when people call themselves stupid especially when they're not, FWIW even as a kid I was told never to call myself or anyone stupid but hey idiot, dipshit, moron are all apparently fine lol, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 18:27, 6 May 2020 (UTC)
I found it mostly embarrassing because I rarely make that kind of typo. And also because it is the name of a person. But don't worry, it's just a bit of "zelfspot", not sure how to translate that. Google doesn't know how to translate that either, literally it means "self-mockery". - Alexis Jazz 18:35, 6 May 2020 (UTC)
Found it, it's self-deprecation. - Alexis Jazz 18:58, 6 May 2020 (UTC)
Hey Alexis, Ah okay no worries, I did wonder if it was but still felt the need to say that anyway lol, Anyway happy editing :), Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 20:28, 6 May 2020 (UTC)

I know what you mean (I think), but it was ambiguous. Take a break from all the wiki jibber-jabber and maybe next time tell those who bug you to bugger off instead of fuck off and hopefully avoid all this twaddle. - Alexis Jazz 23:29, 6 May 2020 (UTC)

Hey Alexis Jazz, Meh I only have myself to blame, I'm responsible for my actions and words and both have consequences if I mis-use those,
Unfortunately by that editor filing that report they essentially shot themselves in the foot as they ended up blocked too, Meh it is what it is,
Anyway thanks for your message, Take care and stay safe, Kind Regards, –Davey2010Talk 23:54, 6 May 2020 (UTC)
I wrote an essay on this subject some time back when people freaked out on me for saying exactly the same thing. Like it or not, in this environment it just isn't a good idea no matter how much the person earned it. Beeblebrox (talk) 03:48, 7 May 2020 (UTC)
@Beeblebrox: I think it also depends on where you're coming from. Like, location. An American, an Australian and a Brit walk into a bar. The barkeep yells "Fuck off!" at them for no reason.
The American makes a fist and knocks some of his teeth out in a single punch and walks away.
The Australian says "How rude! You're getting 1 star of Yelp!" and walks away.
The Brit says "Nah, fuck you mate. Pick up your teeth and gimme a pint." - Alexis Jazz 05:29, 7 May 2020 (UTC)
Hi Beeblebrox, Thanks for your reply and essay, Certainly easier said than done but in all fairness I don't use it as much as I used to so that's something positive but still I know me using it gives someone a reason to drag me there, Anyway thanks for your reply and essay, Stay safe and take care, Thanks, Regards, –Davey2010Talk 11:08, 7 May 2020 (UTC)
Thanks for the laugh Alexis!, Summed it up all in one! :), –Davey2010Talk 11:08, 7 May 2020 (UTC)

FYI

Hello D. Sorry about your "time out" :-( About User talk:Zhaofeng Li/reFill#DeadURL that editor has been gone for some time now. Refill is being maintained by others including Cyberpower678. Those of us who have had questions about the various changes in refill have had a difficult time getting any answers or responses to our queries at the WP:VPT. In regards to your specific item I did ask if it could be fixed here User talk:Cyberpower678/Archive 70#If it fits with your work but there was no response. AFAIK it isn't even being worked on so we just have to keep an eye out for when it happens and copy past the "|url-status=dead" over the old one. The one helpful (sort of) thing is that the old one does leave a bright red "this needs fixing message" in the references section of an article. Cheers to you and stay safe. MarnetteD|Talk 01:18, 7 May 2020 (UTC)

@MarnetteD and Cyberpower678: in /backend/refill/formatters/citetemplate.py change template.add('deadurl', 'y') to template.add('url-status', 'dead') and find and replace "deadurl" with "url-status". In /backend/refill/models/citation.py change 'deadurl': bool, to 'url-status': str,.. probably. I literally looked at this for two minutes. We have some better stuff on Dutch Wiktionary, like not bothering with archivedate for archive.org, in fact we don't even have to bother with the non-dead url there if we have an archive.org url. - Alexis Jazz 06:09, 7 May 2020 (UTC)
Alexis Jazz, I'll make the changes you suggested. —CYBERPOWER (Chat) 15:35, 9 May 2020 (UTC)
Hey MarnetteD, Nice to see you here :), Ah okay thanks for letting me know, I think I read somewhere Cyberpower678 was going to start maintaining it or copied the code ? so posted it in the hope someone would still see it and fix it lol, It's just a pain now tho as newbies are going to probably use it, not know what the error means and will completely ignore it which is frustrating, I guess a bot could be created that replaces the old URL status with the new one if one hasn't already been created,
Anyway thanks for your message, Thanks and you stay safe too, Take care, –Davey2010Talk 11:16, 7 May 2020 (UTC)
Thanks for the info Alexis Jazz. Yep it is a pain. AJ's fix might work. The one thing I forgot to mention is that AFAIK no one who is maintaining the tool has the ZL refill talk page on their watchlist so you might try posting at the VPT and see if you get a response. Cheers to you both. MarnetteD|Talk 16:39, 7 May 2020 (UTC)
Those changes will help a lot Cyberpower678 Thanks for working on them. This will make working on bare urls a bit easier won't it Davey :-)MarnetteD|Talk 17:37, 9 May 2020 (UTC)
They will :), Cheers all, –Davey2010Talk 18:26, 9 May 2020 (UTC)
Just dropping in again D as I saw your note to Rich. About two weeks ago I ran a refill fix that used the new dead url tag. I got all excited that we weren't going to have to deal with this but, sadly, since then it has gone back to adding the wrong one. I'm flummoxed about what is going on and I don't know if the boffins are ever going to let us in on things :-) Cheers anyway. MarnetteD|Talk 18:27, 21 May 2020 (UTC)
Hey MarnetteD, How on earth did you find section through all of the stuff below!! (you deserve a medal because if it were me I'd just give up!)
Oh in that case please accept my sincere apologies, I've not used it since then so assumed nothing had been fixed lol,
I unfortunately have 0 understanding with all that so unfortunately cannot help in any way, Thank you for fixing it tho even if it was temporary, Thanks, Regards, –Davey2010Talk 18:50, 21 May 2020 (UTC)
If there is one thing WikiP has taught me it is how to scroll. You should see the callus on my index finger :-) I didn't fix anything I just assumed when I ran that one that used the correct dead tag that those who are maintaining refill had implemented the fix mentioned above. Either it didn't take or they changed it back. Apologies for the confusion in my post. BTW when it comes to boffins this one should be in charge. HeeHee. MarnetteD|Talk 20:34, 21 May 2020 (UTC)

Hi Goodnightmush (or any TPS), Could you revert 103.3.221.39 at Neil Druckmann please as they've vandalised the article, I can't revert as am blocked for another 6 hours or so, Many thanks, Regards, –Davey2010Talk 15:31, 7 May 2020 (UTC)

Block

Hey Cassianto, Many thanks for your comments over at ANI today, As you probably already know I don't at all agree with the block,
I'm genuinely surprised the admin who blocked me felt my "participate or fuck off" comment was grounds for a block yet didn't block an admin who told an editor to fuck off in an hidden comment ....
So if my my comment was hidden and something like "If you don't wanna participate then <!-- fuck off --> leave" is that fine ? ...... no ofcourse it isn't, Hidden or unhidden "fuck off" was still said ? ..... It makes no sense at all ....,
That being said I've only got 2½ hours remaining so won't kick up a fuss over it but I simply feel the block (or atleast the length) was too excessive for the crime although that being said my last block was for the exact same phrase so won't pretend like I'm a saint as I'm no where near,
I shall say no more mainly because I'd rather not give someone an excuse to up the length lol, Thanks again, –Davey2010Talk 20:00, 7 May 2020 (UTC)

Davey, the whole thing is cock-eyed. I once had an admin say "fuck you" to me which went completely unpunished. All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others. It's not what you know, it's who... The Rambling Man (Stay indoors, stay safe!!!!) 20:07, 7 May 2020 (UTC)

Yeah, we're all good, likewise, stay safe and don't let the arseholes grind you down. VauxhallMania1999/Astra1999

Known sockpuppeter is back. This time he replacing not just Vauxhall cars now. User:VauxhallMania1999 --Vauxford (talk) 16:32, 8 May 2020 (UTC)

Hey Vauxford, Funnily enough I kept thinking of him occasionally, I knew .. well had a funny feeling ... he was going to return at some point lol, I'll file another SPI here and at Commons, Thanks for the heads up :), Stay safe & take care, 16:35, 8 May 2020 (UTC)
Vauxford - You are absolutely amazing thanks for updating the heading - Saves me the time of having to find his old name lol, Thanks again it's much appreciated :), –Davey2010Talk 16:36, 8 May 2020 (UTC)
I done a SPI already but I think I done it wrong. [55] --Vauxford (talk) 16:39, 8 May 2020 (UTC)
Hi Vauxford, Ah okay no worries, The SPI guys will either merge, redirect or delete it, SPIs should always be done under the sockmasters name (Astra1999), great catch btw!, I've requested a block at Commons, SPIs over there don't make sense to me and I don't have the willpower to figure it all out lol, Thanks, Regards, –Davey2010Talk 16:54, 8 May 2020 (UTC)

Thanks for helping on Maisie Williams

Sorry I had a bad day yesterday, I am grateful for your wp:accessibility improvement to her filmography section. ~ BOD ~ TALK 18:43, 8 May 2020 (UTC)

Hey Bodney, No worries in all fairness I was the one in the wrong so my apologies for yesterday, Thanks, Not many people know but the rowspan stuff actually prevents people using screen readers to fully read the table properly as I believe rowspan jumbles it up for them so I remove them :),
Sorry tho as I realised I started doing all that whilst you were in the middle of doing work yourself, many thanks for your updates and sourcing to that article :),
Take care and stay safe, Thanks, Regards, –Davey2010Talk 18:49, 8 May 2020 (UTC)

Since you wanted this

There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. Trillfendi (talk) 14:28, 11 May 2020 (UTC)

Davey, could you please not curse at people in this manner? Chris Troutman (talk) 15:49, 11 May 2020 (UTC)
Sure, If people don't call my work shit then I won't react that way Chris, If you spent 2 hours working on an article just to read that comment after how would you react ? ..... Well you'd probably be nicer but still you wouldn't be happy would you?,
I welcome and accept all forms of criticism but telling me my work is shit is not criticism ... it's a blatant attack. –Davey2010Talk 15:58, 11 May 2020 (UTC)
That's where we differ: I don't take personal offense at a professional criticism of my work, even if that criticism is: "a futile article that still looks like shit". Each editor logically becomes invested in their work because we each care about it. Another editor not valuing the article you "saved" doesn't denigrate your personhood but your name-calling, in violation of WP:NPA, does exactly that to them. Maybe my advice rings hollow because I've been admonished for being mean. That said, I value your contributions to articles. You're just coming off a block for the same sort of thing and repeated instances, I worry, will convince the community to turn against you on the long-term, preventing you from contributing ever again. Please don't give the folks at ANI the stick with which to beat you. I'd much rather you take a break to cool-off from someone else's flippant condemnation than have you blocked for 30 days for saying the wrong things in a moment of anger. Chris Troutman (talk) 16:31, 11 May 2020 (UTC)
Well you many not find disparaging comments towards your work offensive, Chris troutman, but others do. We can't all be holier-than-thou, can we? CassiantoTalk 18:14, 11 May 2020 (UTC)
@Cassianto: You've been blocked twelve times in the past five years, not counting the self-requested ones. Maybe you ought to sit this one out. Also, please fix your preferences so it warns you of broken pings. Chris Troutman (talk) 18:27, 11 May 2020 (UTC)
Wow, what a sorry piece of work you are! Firstly, I may have missed something, but what does my block log have to do with this thread? I didn't realise a block log disqualifies someone from taking part in discussions. Silly me. Secondly, I'll take part in what I want, where I want and with whom I want. Lastly, my preferences are none of your business. But while we're talking about formatting, maybe you could capitalise your surname, like the rest of the world does, or is this you being "inventive"? I await your next IQ busting comment. CassiantoTalk 19:07, 11 May 2020 (UTC)
Just as I thought. Fuck all in article building. CassiantoTalk 19:17, 11 May 2020 (UTC)
Hey User:Chris troutman, I guess we really do differ there as yeah I obviously do personally take it as a PA, "Maybe do this better in future" or "maybe don't use X or Y" or "don't use this layout" .... stuff like that I don't have a problem with and as I said I welcome those sorts of comments as those are telling me what I'm maybe doing wrong and what I can improve on .... whereas simply saying "a futile article that still looks like shit" is to me saying efforts done after that are shit still,
I agree and I've seen it happen - People will get up of me but I feel in this specific case I didn't do anything to provoke that persons reactions but still people have and will continue to have their different views on their behaviour as well as mine,
As I said below walking away really is easier said than done but certainly wished I had done it,
Anyway thank you for your reply and for your advice, Take care and stay safe, –Davey2010Talk 16:46, 11 May 2020 (UTC)
Like Chris troutman, I've been admonished too and have lost my cool, and that's not a good thing and not something I'm proud of. But Chris is absolutely right, and the more I think about that "twat" comment the more I'm inclined to chastise myself for not blocking you--but I agree that this was a heated situation. I didn't know you had just gotten blocked, and that does make it worse. So I am going to leave a hopefully completely redundant "only warning" template here, not because you haven't heard enough at the ANI thread, but as a visual reminder to you on your own talk page to stop and think next time. Thank you. Drmies (talk) 16:39, 11 May 2020 (UTC)
Hi Drmies, Not sure if you've read my reply there but when I called her a twat I was calling her stupid/an idiot ..... I genuinely had forgotten it meant something else and I probably forgot that because I've never used it in that context but still she wasn't to know that and neither was ANI, Don't get me wrong I'm not moaning or throwing my dolls out the pram but I do find it unfair someone calls my work shit but when I offend them back I'm the one that gets the stick for it ?,
Then again she did comment on the content and not me as an individual even if it didn't seem that way at that time, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 16:58, 11 May 2020 (UTC)
I read over everything by now, Davey. The difference between calling someone's work shit and insulting the person, that's part of where this is at. Thank you. Drmies (talk) 17:00, 11 May 2020 (UTC)
What about if the person feels insulted by the insulting comment made about their work? I see no difference. CassiantoTalk 18:46, 11 May 2020 (UTC)
But that's the point .... telling me my work is shit is basically insulting me? .... Meh whatever, would rather move on from this. –Davey2010Talk 17:17, 11 May 2020 (UTC)
Your work isn't shit, but you know that. And, yes it is an insult to you. -Roxy the effin dog . wooF 19:13, 11 May 2020 (UTC)
Hey Roxy, Thank you that means a lot, In all the years I've been here I don't think I've ever felt like packing up more than I have today, Meh don't see why my enjoyment should be stopped all because someone dislikes my work,
Anyway hope you're well and safe, Take care, Warm Regards, –Davey2010Talk 19:22, 11 May 2020 (UTC)
I understand how you feel believe me, as there is a great deal of enjoyment/satisfaction to be had here. Nil Carborundum. -Roxy the effin dog . wooF 19:30, 11 May 2020 (UTC)
The difference between "your work is shit" and "you are shit" may seem like a distinction without a difference on the receiving end, but it's how we roll nonetheless, and all y'all know it--it's really the essence of NPA. It's quite imperfect, of course. BTW Davey good work on the article. I won't be closing it now cause I just voted keep. Drmies (talk) 22:30, 11 May 2020 (UTC)
Hey Drmies, I understand, Comment on content and all that, Just wish I hadn't rose to it like the way I did,
Anyway thank you very much I appreciate that a lot, Stay safe and take care Doc, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 22:41, 11 May 2020 (UTC)

Just an FYI

I made a comment on the ANI about how quickly these things can degenerate. Look at this 56, this is hardly a neutral accounting of the situation but it was similar. I applaud you didn't take the path of resistance but when I see stuff like this my advice, go for the hills. It just isn't worth it no matter how we perceive that other editor. I also don't mean to be preachy or seem all boo hoo cause people make mistakes, yours is recoverable :) Unbroken Chain (talk) 16:22, 11 May 2020 (UTC)

Hi Unbroken Chain, Unfortunately gender bias did keep popping up on the project a few years ago and agree it can degenerate things,
FWIW I did explain at ANI that unfortunately I did forgot that word too means something else, I've never used it in that way but now the heading of that report makes sense,
Walking away when things get heated really is easier said than done especially when you're me but I've come to learnt somethings are better left unsaid (which is why I've barely commented there),
Anyway thanks for your advice and for popping over,
Take care and stay safe :), Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 16:32, 11 May 2020 (UTC)

May 2020

This is your only warning; if you make personal attacks on others again, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Comment on content, not on other contributors or people. This as an FYI, that is, for your information for next time. Thank you. Drmies (talk) 16:40, 11 May 2020 (UTC)

NPA

Hi Davey. I was quite disheartened to check my watchlist here and see an ANI section about you, and even more so when I read the comments you made that brought you there. I understand that having one's work insulted can be emotionally tiring, and I have had it happen to myself on this project. The best advice possible is to keep it cool, and there are many avenues to seek recourse for problems which, in the aforelinked case, were resolved successfully. However, when you combat incivility with incivility, the chances of it turning positive in the long run go straight down, and you're left in the situation you're currently in. I would urge you to apologize, seek reconciliation for the relatively insignificant disagreement you had that became a much larger one when incivility became involved, and don't make this a hill to die on. I've never seen any issues of this sort with your contributions on the Simple English Wikipedia, where nearly all of my interaction with you is, and I sincerely hope it remains that way. If you need anyone to talk to, I'm always available, and my contact info is on my user page. Warm regards, Vermont (talk) 04:35, 12 May 2020 (UTC)

Hi Vermont, I truly do wish I reported it at ANI and walked away that would've been my best course of action, I obviously 110% regret using that word,
I'm someone who apologises for every mistake I make even IRL .... so you can probably imagine how many times I did want to apologise ..... but for me personally I won't apologise to someone who labelled my work shit, I know they commented on content and not me as an individual but I still took it personally and it did at the time felt like it was a comment on me, In short I see it as incivility met incivility.
To be fair there were many replies I wanted to make there but having written them ... I thought about it and didn't think it was worth it and then closed the tab so I personally don't see this as a hill to die on (I would if I kept replying and kept digging a hole),
Ofcourse it will :), All of this doesn't mean I'm going to start using that word more etc etc, Nothing's changed in how I communicate or how I edit, Well it has inregards to that word and how I deal with that but you know what I mean,
Anyway that's the final reply I'll make on this as would rather not break the IBAN,
Take care Vermont and I look forward to contributing with you here and on Simple :), Take care and stay safe. –Davey2010Talk 11:39, 12 May 2020 (UTC)

Apologies

TYhat was the right thing to do even if it could be considered a breach of the ban. If any admin was to sanction that, you should wear that block as a badge of pride. I have one indef block on my record and it was for "harrassment", that harassment was a heartfelt apology for my actions. It was the right thing to do then and was the right thing for you to do now. I'd be proud to call you my friend, you've shown a strength of character that I admire and respect. I don't like the words you used that started it all but in the end you took responsibility like a reasonable adult. Kudos. Unbroken Chain (talk) 13:22, 13 May 2020 (UTC)

Hi Unbroken Chain, Thank you I appreciate that a lot, At that moment in time it's easy to think you're right and whatnot ... but when you take a step away, process everything that's gone on, reflect on it and read the thread you begin to realise you weren't right even if you thought you were,
Wikipedia is a learning curve for everyone and we make stupid mistakes and learn from them,
It's a shame it took me a while but hey late's always better than never! :),
Personally for apologies I don't believe blocks should ever be issued but If I'm blocked I'm blocked, I felt apologising and being true to myself and being true to everyone on that board is worth any block,
I never expected any thanks nor any messages for it but I greatly appreciate those and greatly appreciate your kind and thougtful message so thank you again,
Stay safe and take care, Regards, –Davey2010Talk 13:36, 13 May 2020 (UTC)

More sockpuppet accounts by Astraboy1999

[62] and [63]. The group of IPs already been blocked but they aren't permanent. Done it on the Peugeot 307, Vauxhall Astra, Opel Corsa, Opel Vectra and Opel Zafira.

I had to revert more edits of him self-replacing photos (mostly mines) with his own. Now it seem he doing a new tactic by creating a new account Commons or use the existing pictures from his blocked account and then use some IP address to do the edits. --Vauxford (talk) 23:39, 17 May 2020 (UTC)

Hi Vauxford, This is why all of his images need to be wiped off of Commons but ofcourse that doesn't happen so we're stuck with this bs. –Davey2010Talk 00:00, 18 May 2020 (UTC)

Keira Knightley

Have you seen what you are undoing? I didn’t make the initial edit (Carlosdantasohyeah made it on the 12th about her surname change). Here’s the source they added that verifies it. A subsequent ip editor removed this name change (while, strangely enough, keeping the source that backs up the name change). I undid their change twice having first explained the name change is “registered”. Chris PTR (talk) 20:40, 18 May 2020 (UTC)

Ah my apologies Chris PTR, The point still stands that someone should go to the talkpage due to the fact there's been repeated back and fourth warring over it, Also editors may have a problem with the source which may be excluded as per WP:BLPPRIVACY, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 20:50, 18 May 2020 (UTC)
No worries. I wasn’t sure about the initial edit myself. Only when I checked the source (being from the UK government) did I gather it was legit. Not sure this needs to go to the talk page though, surely a registered name change is not a contentious issue? It’s one ip editor who looks like a nuisance. Chris PTR (talk) 20:58, 18 May 2020 (UTC)

Your subscriptions with the Feedback Request Service

Hi Davey2010! You're receiving this notification because you were previously subscribed to the Feedback Request Service for one or both of the Good Article nomination categories "Arts" and "Everyday life".

You may have noticed that the Feedback Request Service has been inoperative for a number of months, and Yapperbot is currently in the process of taking over from Legobot in performing the requests. In that process, the subscription categories have been updated to match the current categories used by the Good Articles project, and neither "Arts" nor "Everyday life" is used anymore.

What this means is:

  • If you were subscribed to "Arts", your preference has been transferred to Art and architecture as a new category, which you have automatically been opted in to. You may also be interested in Music and/or Media and drama; however, you have not automatically been opted in to these. If you wish to opt in to these, you should follow the process below.
  • If you were subscribed to "Everyday life", you have been unsubscribed entirely from that category, as the category is too vague to assign to any of the new, more specific, categories.

You are encouraged to review your FRS preferences to ensure that they match your interests; there are a number of new categories you can now opt in to additionally. To do this, you should:

  1. Go to the Feedback Request Service page.
  2. If you were previously subscribed to "Arts" and wish to unsubscribe from "Art and architecture", scroll to that subheading and remove your Frs user template.
  3. If you wish to subscribe to an additional category, you should do so by pasting underneath the relevant heading, where limit is the maximum number of requests you wish to receive for that category per month.
  4. Publish the page.

Please note that any subscription preferences you had with the FRS for requests for comment have not been affected by these changes.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask on the Feedback Request Service talk page, or on Yapperbot's operator's talk page. Thank you!

Archiving

Hi Davey2010 — regarding this edit of yours, please see my message here, which it looks like Serial may not have seen/had a chance to reply to yet. Cheers, Sdkbtalk 05:23, 23 May 2020 (UTC)

Hi Sdkb, Unless the thread is reopened no one's going to comment on it as obviously the top and below state "The discussion above is closed. Please do not modify it. No further edits should be made to this discussion." and it's common practice to never comment on closed discussions....,
You pinged 2 admins and 1 editor (Prax isn't an admin) on the 18th and 5 days on none of those people commented and neither did anyone else so therefore it was pointless to further leave it there when no one's going to comment on it,
You're more than welcome to repost at ANI simply asking can you do X or Y but the archived thread will stay archived, Many thanks, Regards, –Davey2010Talk 10:19, 23 May 2020 (UTC)

Maisie Williams

Hi, and thanks for taking a look at Maisie Williams. Earwig's Copyvio tool was showing 78.8% match with this, which may well be because the text was lifted from Wikipedia. Some of the similarities are titles etc, but there are also some phrases like "a tomboyish young girl from a noble family, in the HBO fantasy drama television series Game of Thrones" which have probably been copied one way or the other. Let me know if you need any other info, or if you're happy there's nothing that would prevent the article passing a GA review. Regards, 20:07, 27 May 2020 (UTC) Not sure why my name wasn't in the signature, trying again. BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 20:08, 27 May 2020 (UTC)

Hi BennyOnTheLoose, No worries, Many thanks for adding that and apologies for removing it - As I said one tool worked (and reported nothing was a problem) and the other had some sort of error at the time, The 2nd tool does indeed say 78% and whilst it could be nothing I'd obviously rather leave that to those who deal with copyvios so I've reverted my removal :),
Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 20:22, 27 May 2020 (UTC)

NAT Group page

Hi @Davey2010:,

It has been clear to me that my edit on the NAT Group wikipedia page keeps being reverted? I feel that you reverting it is completely unnessecary and that my edits have been beneficial to the page as a whole - with updated logos, images and route information making it 10x more beneficial to NAT customers and bus enthusiasts.

If you have an issue, please tell me.

Thanks Zackanthxny (talk) 21:17, 2 June 2020 (UTC)

Hi, The company is still trading under NAT Group - if rebranding is happening then the page should be updated once this has fully happened, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 21:18, 2 June 2020 (UTC)

Oh, right. Sorry @Davey2010: but - one thing. I have updated the page with all correct routes and depot information? Would it be okay if I put my information back up but referred to as NAT instead of AdventureTravel?

Thanks

Zackanthxny (talk) 21:24, 2 June 2020 (UTC)

Hi Zackanthxny, Sure, that would be fine :), Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 21:25, 2 June 2020 (UTC)

@Davey2020: page has been updated.

Zackanthxny (talk) 21:42, 2 June 2020 (UTC)

Thanks Zackanthxny, Once the company has been rebranded you're absolutely more than welcome to re-update the page :), I apologise for the warnings which I've now removed too, Happy editing! :), Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 21:44, 2 June 2020 (UTC)

Removal of (albeit WP:NOTSTATS possibly violating) content

I'm curious as to why you removed some information from the Mount Ommaney Shopping Centre bus station and Indooroopilly bus station route tables without a clear explanation. Granted, the reason could simply be that it violated WP:NOTSTATS and is therefore non-encyclopedic, or broke some other policy, but then why do Queensland Rail railway station articles also list express patterns in a similar way? Would they also need their express pattern removed, or is it simply because that they cover different types of transport? (I will not reinstate the removed content without any consensus here first.) Regards, User:TheDragonFire300. (Contact me | Contributions). This message was left at 05:07, 7 June 2020 (UTC)

Because we're not a guide, Direction and Type (Rocket, City Precincts, BUZ) are all meaningless to non-Australian readers and I see no reason why such information would ever need to be included, Please remember we're an English Encyclopedia nota an Australian one, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 11:26, 7 June 2020 (UTC)
Having a look at the List of bus routes in London, would you say that the information included there would set the precedent as to what to include here? That includes the start, end and 24 hour operation notes, and also a definition of service types by route prefix. Considering possible WP:NOTSTATS vios, would you argue that not noting the days a route operates on nor its type would make the list any less encyclopedic, considering the latter is techincally done on the bus routes in London page? Regards, User:TheDragonFire300. (Contact me | Contributions). This message was left at 16:54, 7 June 2020 (UTC)
I would so you're more than welcome to add operational hours, Personally I don't agree with it but I can hardly say no to that when it's been accepted on another article so you're more than welcome to operational to the tables, cheers, –Davey2010Talk 17:02, 7 June 2020 (UTC)
So:
  • Which day it operates and type is returning, and
  • Express patterns are not returning, given that they aren't officially documented, nor are collapsible tables, given accessibility reasons.
Should be an okay compromise? Regards, User:TheDragonFire300. (Contact me | Contributions). This message was left at 17:06, 7 June 2020 (UTC)
If reliably sourced then which days they operate is fine but direction and type are still not okay, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 18:11, 7 June 2020 (UTC)
Is this because TfL's route types are sourced? Regards, User:TheDragonFire300. (Contact me | Contributions). This message was left at 18:16, 7 June 2020 (UTC)
The 24hour operation are all sourced although "Also runs throughout Friday and Saturday night" isn't but that's that article, Days and nights of operation should be sourced, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 18:19, 7 June 2020 (UTC)
By setting the linked TransLink website to a particular date you can prove how dates are affected, so that might be a point for verifiability (there isn't anything rejecting inaccessible sources, let alone this one). Also, there is a linked PDF timetable which documents the route type (for example, here then click Printable timetables). Maybe that might make it easily sourced, given that the London bus routes timetable actually provides no sources for service types (albeit those are by route prefix...). Regards, User:TheDragonFire300. (Contact me | Contributions). This message was left at 18:26, 7 June 2020 (UTC)
@Davey2010: Okay, so if the List of London bus routes article includes types, what is your argument against it here? Regards, User:TheDragonFire300. (Contact me | Contributions). This message was left at 21:26, 7 June 2020 (UTC)
Types aren't next to the routes - there's only stating what the letter means next to the number. I've made my arguement clearly as I can both in edit summaries and here and I'm not going to repeat myself. –Davey2010Talk 21:43, 7 June 2020 (UTC)
Sorry, you didn't make that particularly clear. In that case, I'll rewrite the table tomorrow. Regards, User:TheDragonFire300. (Contact me | Contributions). This message was left at 21:51, 7 June 2020 (UTC)
"Because we're not a guide, Direction and Type (Rocket, City Precincts, BUZ) are all meaningless to non-Australian readers" and "If reliably sourced then which days they operate is fine but direction and type are still not okay," - Which of these did you not understand ?, I stated to you twice (and now for the third time) that Direction and type should not be in tables however you can add operation days. –Davey2010Talk 22:06, 7 June 2020 (UTC)
I'm going to go get a third opinion on this, if that's okay? Regards, User:TheDragonFire300. (Contact me | Contributions). This message was left at 22:26, 7 June 2020 (UTC)
Knock yourself out. –Davey2010Talk 22:29, 7 June 2020 (UTC)

3O Response: So far as the actual content, I do agree that the full listing is probably a bit excessive for an encyclopedia article, though some type of summary should be fine. That being said, though, there seems to be a bit of cart before horse here, as the article includes no independent reference material, which leads me to wonder if it's notable at all. It may be that the information needs to be merged to a parent. If there is a substantial amount of high-quality independent source material available about the station, see what it indicates is particularly significant about it, follow those sources' lead, and cite them in the article. Seraphimblade Talk to me 04:22, 11 June 2020 (UTC) Seraphimblade Talk to me 04:22, 11 June 2020 (UTC)

And with opinion prevailing that the tables as they were before were not suitable, that, it's time for me to drop the stick and let this die. I guess if the articles themselves aren't as notable as I thought, then getting petty over tables and their contents isn't really worth it. And if bad blood was sown between us, then I sincerely apologise for that, and hope that we'll continue to edit without animosity into the future. Regards, User:TheDragonFire300. (Contact me | Contributions). This message was left at 06:58, 11 June 2020 (UTC)
Thanks for your helpful and valued help Seraphimblade, There's a grey area when it comes to route service tables, The general consensus from what I can gather is timetables are fine although better sources should be used if they can, Anyway thanks again for your help and comments - much appreciated :), Happy editing, Thanks, Regards, –Davey2010Talk 17:10, 11 June 2020 (UTC)

Invite to Revive WikiProject:Shopping Centers!

Hey there, Davey2010! I'm Windyshadow32, a new member of the sadly inactive Wikiproject Shopping Centers. I am trying to revive this project to highlight the unique stories of malls across the country and the world especially as we lose more and more of them. Undoubtedly, we will lose shopping malls due to the challenges we face at this moment. Your account was listed as involved in the project, and I would like to know if you would like to help revive it! I can't take on this massive project without you! Please let me know if you'd be willing to help; I really appreciate it!

Can you help me to create a signature name tag

Hi, Davey2010. I am kinda impressed by your colourful name tag, wonder if you can help me to create one or teach me how to do it. Take care, Bye. Reply soon.

Hi Hypersonic man 11, Thanks, Nice to know someone likes it lol,
This is the template for it
  1. –<span style="color:red;">Hypersonic man</span><span style="color: black;">11</span><span style="color:purple;">Talk</span>
  2. or –<span style="color:red;">Hypersonic</span> <span style="color:Green;">man</span><span style="color: black;">11</span><span style="color:purple;">Talk</span>
Signature 1 looks like –Hypersonic man11Talk
and Signature 2 looks like –Hypersonic man11Talk (11 is in a different colour)
Some editors dislike people using their signature so it's always best to be unique and different :),
Hope this all helped, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 12:00, 16 June 2020 (UTC)

This week's article for improvement (week 26, 2020)

William Mariner was an Englishman who lived in Tonga from 29 November 1806 to (probably) 8 November 1810. He later published Tonga Islands, an account of his experiences that is now one of the major sources of information on Tonga before it was significantly influenced by European culture and Christianity. Pictured is Mariner in Tongan attire.

Copyvio on My Family

Afraid the copyright template is a "Please do not remove this tag without discussion" one, there, we should find a consensus on the talk page that this text probably isn't a copyright violation, and leave it flagged in the mean time. I've already written a few thoughts there about why this text has almost certainly been copied from somewhere, as the captions written at the same time by the same IP were full of basic grammar and spelling errors, while the synopses were all written in a very fluid and funny manner. Whether this was from the back of a DVD or from a public domain website (or other Wikipedia page?) is something we need to make a call on.

Assuming good faith is handled differently for potential copyright issues. We should assume that the original IP meant well and was trying to improve the article with this text, eleven years ago, but we shouldn't assume that this extended to them correctly understanding the copyright of pasting content from another website. --Lord Belbury (talk) 11:48, 23 June 2020 (UTC)

Hi Lord Belbury, Just replied over there, I'm very surprised it's remained there for so long!, Exactly they probably meant well just didn't know the whole copyright thing, Thanks again for your eagle-eyedness (if that's a word), Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 13:31, 23 June 2020 (UTC)

Hello, Davey2010! I'm Ed6767. I noticed you have been using Twinkle and was wondering if you'd like to beta test my new tool called RedWarn, specifically designed to improve your editing experience.

RedWarn is currently in use by over a hundred other Wikipedians, and feedback so far has been extremely positive. In fact, in a recent survey of RedWarn users, 90% of users said they would recommend RedWarn to another editor. If you're interested, please see the RedWarn tool page for more information on RedWarn's features and instructions on how to install it. Otherwise, feel free to remove this message from your talk page. If you have any further questions, please ping me or leave a message on my talk page. Your feedback is much appreciated! Orphaned non-free image File:MearnsFM logo.png

Thanks for uploading File:MearnsFM logo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 17:37, 27 June 2020 (UTC)
