Hi, one question about your edit on Gelareh's Nagoo Tanhaie song. Spotify says that it has over 10 million plays. Cant we consider this as a credible source of information? Her songs are on apple music, amazon music and plenty other music platforms. Thanks!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Alisha3107 (talkcontribs) 07:53, 9 April 2022 (UTC)

Reply to recent revertEdit

Hello, is it the minor box marked by me in the customer service, the issue or the resource referenced? If it is not the resource, what's the right option to tick for the changes to be updated...

Though, i have read the wikipedia editing guidelines, as deadlink doesn't fall into minor editing.....

Your assistance will be helpful so as to ensure the resource has no broken link.

Regards. Frediemie (talk) 14:30, 12 April 2022 (UTC)

@Frediemie: I reverted this edit because the source wasn't reliable (it's a blog entry that quotes the Wikipedia article it's supposedly supporting). The message I left on your talk page was asking you not to tick the "minor edit" box when your edits aren't minor. --Lord Belbury (talk) 14:39, 12 April 2022 (UTC)
Okay, meaning that resource can't be reference or i need to check the appropriate box to specify the edit done. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Frediemie (talkcontribs) 14:46, 12 April 2022 (UTC)
@Frediemie: Both: don't use a poorly-written blog on a commercial website as a source (a blog entry that seems to have been written at the same time you added it to Wikipedia?), and don't mark your edits as "minor" when they aren't. --Lord Belbury (talk) 14:49, 12 April 2022 (UTC)
Anyway, thanks but you know some of the dead link resources not even available on Wayback machine and the original sites aren't accessible anymore. Guess, blog with related updates should be a consideration. Nevertheless, fine, fine..... — Preceding unsigned comment added by Frediemie (talkcontribs) 15:49, 12 April 2022 (UTC)
@Frediemie: No, a badly-written blog entry that quotes the Wikipedia entry it's being used as a source for should never be considered as a resource. --Lord Belbury (talk) 15:53, 12 April 2022 (UTC)

Dead cat strategy imageEdit

This cat doesn't want to be used as an example

not sure it helps to illustrate an idiom with a literal image, and the fact that this red-splotch photo looks superficially like a violent death (until you read and understand the caption) makes it almost as WP:ASTONISHing as an actual dead cat photo would be here

Or, it perfectly illustrates the subject of the article by distracting the reader for a moment. ;-)

To be honest, I was just seeing how long it would last as one of those rarely kept humour elements here; just over an hour. I'll wait another decade before trying another. (Hohum @) 21:01, 14 April 2022 (UTC)

@Hohum: Oh, right. I guess people having different senses of humour is one of the reasons why Wikipedia shouldn't try to crack jokes. --Lord Belbury (talk) 21:17, 14 April 2022 (UTC)
I was aiming for the edge of relevance but apparently missed. With all the crap currently going on, I hope you'll forgive a harmless attempt to lighten the mood. (Hohum @) 21:33, 14 April 2022 (UTC)
@Hohum: Sure, and forgive the deadpan policy response, it was written on the assumption that you meant the edit seriously. --Lord Belbury (talk) 14:44, 15 April 2022 (UTC)

Is this https://www.scribd.com/document/51369724/TVSS-UL-spec-1449 also spam or what your reason? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Frediemie (talkcontribs) 17:30, 20 April 2022 (UTC)

@Frediemie: Per the two edit summaries reverting this link, Scribd is not a usable source at Wikipedia, see WP:RSP. --Lord Belbury (talk) 17:47, 20 April 2022 (UTC)

Facing an issue to publish the Wikipedia page.Edit

Hi, I am facing an issue to publish the Wikipedia page. Can you assist me to make it live?

This is the page - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Torglenn1776/sandbox#Tor_Glenn_Melhus, It's currently saved as a draft, I need to publish it live. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Torglenn1776 (talkcontribs) 16:34, 21 April 2022 (UTC)

@Torglenn1776: Hi Tor. The one to publish would be Draft:Tor Glenn Melhus, just make whatever edits you want to that page and hit the "Submit for review!" button when you're happy with it. I can tell you now that it won't be set live until it has at least two secondary sources on it, though - see WP:BASIC - so you'll want to add some examples of press coverage or awards or similar. --Lord Belbury (talk) 16:48, 21 April 2022 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use File:Surrender Dorothy.jpgEdit

Thanks for uploading File:Surrender Dorothy.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification, per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --evrik (talk) 13:50, 26 April 2022 (UTC)

Birth, Death and Marriage RecordsEdit

I note your comments regarding birth, death and marriage records. However, this is crazy; these records are maintained by the National Archives, an office of the Department for Digital, Cultura, Media and Sport - a department of the UK Government. You are saying that we cannot accept the UK Government's own records as a "reliable source" but the wiki community seems quite happy to accept newspaper reports, many of which are significantly less reliable. Utterly daft.

Hi lord belbury, The source that I got for the largest and smallest moto in the UK is on a Twitter DM from the official Moto account. Is there a way I can screenshot it and send it to you so I can prove it's a reliable source please.
