June 2018 edit

Please do not add or change content, as you did at List of people from Brampton, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Please stop reverting this edit. Add sources to support that these people are from Brampton, and please stop adding redlinks to the list. Thanks. Magnolia677 (talk) 21:26, 11 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Undeletion request edit

Can you please return File:Davies.jpg. I gather this was initially a valid fair-use file, later erroneously converted to to PD. – Finnusertop (talkcontribs) 17:37, 19 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Finnusertop: Reverted! Please try and find the creator information for the image, our fair use documentation standards have increased in recent years to the point where one 1960s event ad I uploaded has been twice chucked by other editors. -- Zanimum (talk) 22:37, 21 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
That's the best I can do. Not even books that have this cover on the image go into specifics. At any rate, it's immediate source (WP:NFCC#10a) and previous publication (WP:NFCC#4) that count. – Finnusertop (talkcontribs) 22:52, 21 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
I've emailed Stratford Festival to see if their 1982 publication has a photo credit. -- Zanimum (talk) 22:01, 22 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Invitation to participate in study edit

Hello,

I am E. Whittaker, an intern at Wikimedia with the Scoring Team to create a labeled dataset, and potentially a tool, to help editors deal with incivility when they encounter it on talk pages. A full write-up of the study can be found here: m:Research:Civil_Behavior_Interviews. We are currently recruiting editors to be interviewed about their experiences with incivility on talk pages. Would you be interested in being interviewed? I am contacting you because of your involvement in Wikipedia’s Women in Red project. The interviews should take ~1 hour, and will be conducted over BlueJeans (which does allow interviews to be recorded). If, so, please email me at ewhit@umich.edu in order to schedule an interview.

Thank you Ewitch51 (talk) 20:27, 20 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

June 2018 edit

Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to vandalize Wikipedia, as you did at List of people from Brampton, you may be blocked from editing. Please stop adding people to List of people from Brampton without providing some support (eg. a reliable source; a mention on the target article that the person LIVES or has EVERY LIVED in Brampton.) Having "deep family roots" is not sufficient. You have edit warred over this. Please stop. Magnolia677 (talk) 23:22, 21 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Chester Cheetah: Wild Wild Quest edit

The article Chester Cheetah: Wild Wild Quest has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Does not meet WP:NVIDEOGAMES

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.  » Shadowowl | talk 21:46, 23 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Peter Emslie edit

The article Peter Emslie has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted after seven days unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp/dated}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Edit request - Peel election edit

Can you remove this wild and unsourced claim from Peel Region municipal elections, 2018?: "Johnston has a world-wide audience for his online show and website FreedomReport.ca of over 1 million and had exposed Bonnie Crombie in 2014 for attempting to slander and libel Steve Mahoney who was also running for Mayor of Mississauga."? Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 199.119.233.235 (talk) 12:09, 5 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

And also "The charges were based on multiple reports by Bonnie Crombie which were refused by multiple crown attourneys, until Crombie approached Yasir Naqvi" which is not in the cited source and which Johnston or his supporter added to the Wikipedia article maliciously.

Ugh, thank you for finding these, they have been removed. -- Zanimum (talk) 15:26, 5 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of John Cutruzzola edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on John Cutruzzola, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. WikiLove edit

Hi Zanimum, just wanted to give some quick WikiLove for an older article of yours on podcast host Georgia Hardstark. It's very thorough yet succinct, and was a great help during my project on the podcast The Bechdel Cast. Thank you! Moreno.ci (talk) 02:19, 14 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

Oh wow, thank you, @Moreno.ci:! I was a big fan of Slumber Party, it's great to hear that the article's been of use. -- Zanimum (talk) 14:09, 20 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom 2018 election voter message edit

Hello, Zanimum. Voting in the 2018 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 3 December. All users who registered an account before Sunday, 28 October 2018, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Thursday, 1 November 2018 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2018 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 19 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Jens Amundsen edit

The article Jens Amundsen has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails to pass WP:GNG as all sources are only passing mentions in articles about his son Roald, a famous explorer.

Your draft article, Draft:Amariah Faulkner edit

Hello, Zanimum. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Amariah Faulkner".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. Dolotta (talk) 13:44, 11 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of File:Books fishing for fun.jpg edit

The file File:Books fishing for fun.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-free book covers, etc. are generally considered acceptable when used for primary identification purposes in a stand-alone article about the books in question per item 1 of WP:NFCI; however, their non-free use in other articles tends (such as articles about the author) tends to be much harder to justify per WP:NFC#cite_note-3. Although this file is technically not the cover art itself, it's non-free use in Herbert Hoover#Post-presidency is pretty much decorative only and fails not only WP:NFCC#1, but also WP:NFCC#8. The book is mentioned only by name only once in the article (Herbert Hoover#Writing), so there's no real justification to use it for identification purposes per WP:FREER and WP:NFLISTS; moreover, the context for non-free use required by NFCC#8 is also lacking since there's no real critical commentary about the book or it's cover anywhere at all in the article.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. -- Marchjuly (talk) 01:21, 13 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Logo 20th century fox.jpg edit

Thank you for uploading File:Logo 20th century fox.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.

This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:00, 24 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free image File:MissNewsTabCover-2010-03-04.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:MissNewsTabCover-2010-03-04.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 17:37, 26 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom 2019 special circular edit

Administrators must secure their accounts

The Arbitration Committee may require a new RfA if your account is compromised.

Administrator account security (Correction to Arbcom 2019 special circular) edit

ArbCom would like to apologise and correct our previous mass message in light of the response from the community.

Since November 2018, six administrator accounts have been compromised and temporarily desysopped. In an effort to help improve account security, our intention was to remind administrators of existing policies on account security — that they are required to "have strong passwords and follow appropriate personal security practices." We have updated our procedures to ensure that we enforce these policies more strictly in the future. The policies themselves have not changed. In particular, two-factor authentication remains an optional means of adding extra security to your account. The choice not to enable 2FA will not be considered when deciding to restore sysop privileges to administrator accounts that were compromised.

We are sorry for the wording of our previous message, which did not accurately convey this, and deeply regret the tone in which it was delivered.

For the Arbitration Committee, -Cameron11598 21:04, 4 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
