Hey, Dharmadhyaksha, I just wanted to let you know that I've declined your F9 speedy deletion nomination of File:Bhaichung Mahuri.jpg. I've reverted your edit here, though replaced Pamela Chopra.

Links to disambiguation pages are supposed to be made using the redirect from "... (disambiguation)". This means that we can then check for accidental links to disambiguation pages, because the intentional ones will all be easily identifiable. So your "cleanup" was well-intentioned but wrong.

Hi AK/DD. Just noticed your message at the top of this page. Clearly I missed something and have no clue what this is all about but don't let whatever it was get you down. Wikipedia can be a bit bipolar at times and it is not worth letting it get to you. Hi RP! Not to worry. I am still not quitting editing, just changing role, moving out of futile discussions and unnecessary fights. No one specific event triggered it. So now i edit article, but if reverted i don't care. I don't fight petty vandalism. But i get to create various articles now with that all saved time. Happy with that. And as to comments on various issues... there are others to do that. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 05:38, 4 February 2013 (UTC)

Infobox photo consensus discussion

Hi. Can you offer your opinion on which photo is more appropriate for the Infobox in the Scott Allie article in this discussion? You don't need to know anything about Allie; I'm contacting you because you've worked on Featured Pictures. I tried contacting lots of editors who work on comics-related articles, but every time I do so, we wind up with the sentiments split down the middle, and no clear consensus. Name query

Is Randeva an alternate transliteration of Randhawa? I rather think that it might be. - Sitush (talk) 18:31, 2 April 2013 (UTC)

Hm. I've just read your collapsed box above. I hope that the query above is (a) suitably brief and (b) 21st- rather than 16th-century in style. <g> Chin up! - Sitush (talk) 18:35, 2 April 2013 (UTC)
No problem... i don't mind answering this one.
I think they both refer to same names... just variations in pronunciation as well as spelling both in English/Indian language. If you see Help:IPA for Hindi and Urdu, there are small variations in "n", "ɳ" and "ŋ" and also "d̪", "d̪ʱ", "ɖ" and "ɖʱ". Our word over here hence has many combinations and permutations. We have an article on Karishma Randhawa who i see is quite widely being referred to as Randeva also in many fan forums. But this one case shouldn't make it a rule. There are chances that they are actually different. Its mostly like Chaudhary, Chowdhary, Chaudhari, Chowdhury, etc. where spellings have mostly changed per region or simply personal choice. I don't think one can distinguish these also easily now. Another simpler example would be "Chauhan", which is the way it is used in Norther India, especially Rajasthan. (You must have come across it in your Rajput cleanups.) "Chavan" on the other hand is quite popular surname in Maharashtra. They probably are father and son (not respectively), but you notice that a person not so keen about language or just by habit may interchange these two.
I don't think this has been of any good help... but i guess no one can be in this case. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 03:49, 3 April 2013 (UTC)
You have hit the nail on the head there. Someone claiming to be Karishma Randhawa/Randeva has contacted me asking for that article to be renamed. I did some research and while Randeva is used quite a lot in the context of her, Randhawa is much, much more frequently used in English sources on Google. There might still be scope for sidestepping the basic requirements of WP:COMMONNAME (BLP has all sorts of implications, for example) but I really need to understand the motives for requesting the change. I have asked her if she is willing to explain those reasons to me, privately if necessary.

Your explanation has been of immense help, thanks. Aside from elaborating on the general issues of transliteration etc, it eliminates some basic reasons why she might want the title to be changed (eg: because she has legally changed her name). Great stuff, and much appreciated. - Sitush (talk) 16:57, 3 April 2013 (UTC)

Oh! I had'nt checked the history of that article. Luckily picked that example. And you are welcome. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 03:26, 4 April 2013 (UTC)

Hi Dharmadhyaksha, I want to change the sources (dead links) of the awards sections with links that work but the only link for BJFA awards I find is gomolo. I also don't know where it is a reliable source. Do you know whether it is a reliable source and can be used in the article? Tolly4bolly 19:17, 13 April 2013 (UTC)

Hello! Gomolo is not considered as the best source. But it has been used many a times for verifying some facts. Depends on what kind of article it is. If its something like Pran's biography (published especially after his win of DPA) then i wouldn't consider that as the best source. There are chances that Wikipedia itself has been their source. You see, until now Yamla Jat was a 1945 film per our article. And thats why it appears so in Times of India's print edition of 13th April. In case the gomolo article is a list of winners of that year, we can have that as a reference for sure. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 04:52, 14 April 2013 (UTC)

Please do not attack other editors [2]. Comment on content, not on contributors. Personal attacks damage the community and deter users. Please stay cool and keep this in mind while editing. Thank you. Leaky Caldron 10:10, 21 April 2013 (UTC)

What part of it was attack? §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 12:29, 21 April 2013 (UTC)
All of it, against me and the other editor. You are implying bias on our part against editors from a particular location. Such wholly unfounded accusations are covered by the first section of WP:WIAPA. Leaky Caldron 12:37, 21 April 2013 (UTC)
@Leaky_caldron Calling the comments of other editors as utter crap was very decent[3]. --sarvajna (talk) 17:56, 21 April 2013 (UTC)
And it wasn't me who at first linked editors with their country wise editing preferences. (Also note that i did not imply you were biased against editors of a particular location. That's quite different than what i said.) §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 03:28, 22 April 2013 (UTC)
I have made no association between editors and their country of origin. My single reference to nationality was "The entire subject is notable and you being in the huff because your article about the death of an Indian politician being deleted plays no part in the decision on the title of this subject." An editor had asked about "a recent politician in India whose funeral was one of the biggest in recent history, Mumbai a city of ten million and the state of Maharashtra (100 million) ground to a halt while the body lay in repose, yet Wikipedia considered that the event wasn't notable enough for a separate article. I was wondering why the death of Thatcher and the funeral is notable to have an article of its own? The article was created and the Afd decided that it be deleted. Oh a seven km long cortege isn't notable?" I answered that the manner in which the WP:GNG policy applied to the Thatcher article was appropriate. You said "Well.... your dear friend Leaky Caldron has already made it sufficiently clear above that the inflow of India-related editors is because of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Death of Bal Thackeray. By saying it again and again are your propaganda techniques based on Big Lie? And is it that you don't wish India-related editors or any non-Britain-related editors to voice their opinion here?" That is a clear accusation of nationality-based bias. I suggest you examine your inaccurate, fact twisting denial above and admit that you have made wholly unsubstantiated and bad faith claims. Leaky Caldron 10:52, 22 April 2013 (UTC)
I never said that you associated editors with countries. I have said, "it wasn't me who at first linked editors with their country". §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 11:15, 22 April 2013 (UTC)
So what does "Well.... your dear friend Leaky Caldron has already made it sufficiently clear above that the inflow of India-related editors is because of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Death of Bal Thackeray.". Liar. Leaky Caldron 11:47, 22 April 2013 (UTC)
Read it again, he said I never said that you associated editors with countries. I have said, "it wasn't me who at first linked editors with their country".--sarvajna (talk) 12:24, 22 April 2013 (UTC)
I'm not interested in YOUR interpretation. I want him to explain the discrepancy between his denial and the statement that I have copied above. I suggest you keep out of it. Leaky Caldron 12:28, 22 April 2013 (UTC)
LC, Sarvajna is right in highlighting the key points of my statements. I still stand by my statement that "it wasn't me who at first linked editors with their country". §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 14:42, 22 April 2013 (UTC)
Nor was it me. Your dishonest misrepresentation of your own statement, which I have highlighted above, is reprehensible. You are an editor to avoid. I am minded to refer your behaviour for Admin. consideration and will sleep on it. I suggest you reflect on your words and clarify exactly who you are aiming your false accusation at. Leaky Caldron 15:44, 22 April 2013 (UTC)
Well calling the comment of other editors as crap and threatening me by saying I suggest you keep out of it is all you have got? I am sure you can do better. Even a child can see that you are the first person to make comments about nationality(I am not saying that there anything wrong with your comment) The entire subject is notable and you being in the huff because your article about the death of an Indian politician being deleted plays no part in the decision on the title of this subject. Leaky Caldron 15:01, 19 April 2013 (UTC)(emphasis added) and Dharmadhyaksha just stated what you said also it would be dishonest to miss the comments that were made by other editors before Dharmadhyaksha's comment. An editor said I did not explicitly say so above. Note that User:Yogesh Khandke appears to have been canvassing opinion, including requesting a fellow editor AfD this article to which DD replied Note the dates. That discussion was a few days before the day this move was requested. If deletion was intentions, which logically can not be achieved with a move request, a move request would never have been made. Putting such irrelevant notes is playing foul..There was again a comment from the other editor It strikes me as odd the amount of people who are coming here to !vote whose main interest is in Indian subjects(emphasis added) to which DD replied Well.... your dear friend Leaky Caldron has already made it sufficiently clear above that the inflow of India-related editors is because of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Death of Bal Thackeray. By saying it again and again are your propaganda techniques based on Big Lie? And is it that you don't wish India-related editors or any non-Britain-related editors to voice their opinion here?. I hope you have read those comments and you deliberately did not miss them. --sarvajna (talk) 17:03, 22 April 2013 (UTC)
I made an accurate comment about the nationality of a dead Indian politician who's article was deleted. That in no way amounts to making a reference about the nationality of particular editors or the "inflow of India-related editors" to the Thatcher article. I have made no such inference, insinuation or statement. You've picked on the wrong editor to make false claims of racist behaviour I'm afraid. Again, I suggest YOU keep out of it since my dispute is with the talk page user and your constant interference is as annoying as it is unhelpful. Leaky Caldron 17:17, 22 April 2013 (UTC)
(edit conflict)If you feel that i should be avoided then please do that. I am not overly delighted to converse with you either. Sarvajna; thanks; has now put down all points in front of you. If you still fail to comprehend any substance from them, i don't think me talking more on it will help you. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 17:22, 22 April 2013 (UTC)
AGAIN!!! I never accused YOU of any racist behaviour. Its you who assumed that the comment was meant for you. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 17:31, 22 April 2013 (UTC)

You have completely failed to justify this remark: "Well.... your dear friend Leaky Caldron has already made it sufficiently clear above that the inflow of India-related editors is because of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Death of Bal Thackeray.". Unfortunately the discussion about moving the Thatcher article has been closed otherwise I would have struck your disgraceful remark using (Personal attack removed). Your friend is as bad as you, dishonest and evasive. Leaky Caldron 17:34, 22 April 2013 (UTC)

What the hell is racist about that? Your failure to comprehend simple statements has left me nothing much to say here. Dishonest, crap, evasive. Grand show of civility --sarvajna (talk) 17:44, 22 April 2013 (UTC)
Exactly! The discussion is closed and let me remind you that you want to avoid me. So please do that. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 17:48, 22 April 2013 (UTC)
Well, you got it wrong about Bal Thackeray, you got it wrong about whether the Thatcher article was needed and you got it wrong about renaming it so making wrong assertions about editors with whom you disagree is hardly a surprise I suppose. Leaky Caldron 18:25, 22 April 2013 (UTC)

GAR

I must say that I am very disappointed by your GAR which indicates that you have no desire to work with the article writer but against him. I can't help but think you're doing this out of spite for what this editor has said to Gleek Vampire which is very childish indeed. It seems to me you saw Prashant's attack on Gleek's work so you've decided to return the attack on his out of spite, the timing is clearly not a coincidence and I see you've also put 7 Khoon Maaf up for GAR. I'm sick and tired of the ill feeling between you all. You've let the Indian cinema work group down, all of you by your refusal to work together to improve things and self support each other. You could have quite easily mentioned the points for improvement on the talk page without taking it to GAR.♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 16:01, 29 April 2013 (UTC)

I also agree, it is quite tiring. That was not my fault that Gleek passed that GA. I don't know. If you can reasses then, make a particular Criteria for Reviewers and tell them that only experienced editors should grab articles to review. It was not my fault that he chose to review my article. He also passed Freida Pinto, I'm sure that article is also, was easily passed but, why you didn't reassessed that one. Why not Imran Khan? Its is tiring....i worked day and night on the article. I don't want to listen any excuse. Comments on Imran Khan, not reassesment. But, on my article you reassesed all, why not you came on talk page. This shows your biasness and hypocrisy. No. Please delete all reassesments for god sake.Prashant talk 17:42, 29 April 2013 (UTC)
(edit conflict)Oh please... i don't follow these guys talk pages at all. I am sincerely of the opinion that GA quality of this project is degrading day by day. 2 weeks back i posted similar comments on Imran Khan (actor)'s talk page post its GA. After Kareena Kapoor became FA, some non-INCINE editors posted a huge list of changes on it's talk page. The article did not even mention that she has a wax statue; countable few Bollywood people fall in that class and our "FA" didn't mention it. I don't care who nominates these articles and who reviews it. I don't care if they team up together and clear each other's articles or team up against each others and trash it. And i also don't consider my comments as something against the project but more inclining to the betterment of it. If you think my points in GAR are wrong, you may point them out there and i am always open to consider your counter opinions. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 17:33, 29 April 2013 (UTC)
Who are you to consider our question. I'm not interested in any GAR. This shows your hypocrisy and I know who or how many told you do this. If you posted comments on IMRan Then why not on their talk page? Because you want to show your supremacy. You biased user, smell the coffee and look at the mirror. If you can't work on any Indian article , you don't have any right to do this. First, you should work on a stub, then you would know what hard work means. Huh..Prashant talk 17:42, 29 April 2013 (UTC)
(edit conflict)@Blofeld and Prashant: I don't like using templated warning related to Wikipedia:No personal attacks and thats why i won't be adding those on your talk pages. Also, you two, and probably others who plan to come charging on my talk page, should comment only on the content of the articles. No personal attacks, on me or on nominator or on reviewer are going to be helpful here. GAR stays open for many users to comment on. If majority of editors feel that this is the best we can make of these articles, it will remain so. If not, we will just have to wait for what they comment. Till then, keep calm, especially Prashant. This isn't the first event where you are turning violent. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 17:51, 29 April 2013 (UTC)

You are calling me violent. What should I call you. Biased person or what ? Please fail it right now. Also, you yourself know why you did this. Huh. I'm not here to join reassements but to work. Why you left Parineeti Chopra and Barfi!? Reassses them too. It will be cherry on cake. This show you don't have with any article but, the editor. That is me. Do what you want.Prashant talk 17:56, 29 April 2013 (UTC)

Wrong Information at Wikipedia About Kashimath

Kindly try to add correct informations in Wikipedia Mr.Dharmadhyaksha You can check and verify in various sites: http://kashimath.org/, http://www.gsbkonkani.net/Maths/SHRI%20KASHI%20MATH%20SAMSTHAN.htm , http://www.gosripuram.org.in/KashiMutt4.htm

The Information which shows in Kashi Math wikipedia is absolutely wrong. HH Raghavendra is got Reveled form Kashi Math. Current Utharadhikari is HH Samyamindra Thirtha Swamiji. Whenever we add details of HH Samyamindra Thirtha Swamiji you people are removing. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kashimathorg (talkcontribs) 06:17, 30 April 2013 (UTC)

Can you pls check the official Site www.kashimath.org, it clearly specifies that Current Utharadhikari of Kashimath is HH Samyamindra Thirtha Swamiji. and HH Raghavendra is got Reveled form Kashi Math.

But some anti-social followers are still treating HH Raghavendra as Madathipathi and keep deleting the new Swamiji's detail. Kashimathorg 13:00, 30 April 2013 (UTC)

I'm ignoring your disclaimers to share with you my wonder that Sameer Dharmadhikari had a page in Croatian before it was created on English wikpedia. Yogesh Khandke (talk) 04:37, 5 May 2013 (UTC)

Aah... Maybe they had a drive sometime to create articles on all people who have some minimum x number of films on their credit enlisted in IMDb. We have that kinda list somewhere. It never struck me to create an article on him. Also, with Marathi film/actors i have been overly cautious. They are lesser known and editors not familiar with subject are anyways happy to tag yellow labels of POV and notability. I now see that SD's article created by a newbie was rejected before. Priyanka Chopra

Could you please take a look at Priyanka Chopra and make any comments on the talk page? I am not sure if Dr. Bofeld is done with it yet, but I just gave it a copyediting. I am asking you now because of the interactions I saw between he and you over those recent GARs involving Prashant. I want you to be happy with the article before we take it back to FAC (not during or after). Thanks, BollyJeff | talk 18:27, 9 May 2013 (UTC)

Ascents of Niger

Hi, Thank you for your recent inquiry about the racially censored theological articles on Wikipedia. The full text of the censored articles discussing the events at the formation of Christianity in the Temple of Jerusalem in AD 70 are below. It includes the original text and sources for the DYK Ascents of James article. I am a hunted man for leaking such information, but if you would like to un-censor it by reworking and reposting it yourself, you would have my thanks and also have assisted in bringing a bit of light to the theological dark age that this system is hell bent on maintaining. NigerJamesJesusChrist (talk) 16:05, 10 May 2013 (UTC)

Hello! My enquiry was in no way related to racism/radicalism or whatever you are calling. It was just a curiosity to know why a DYK article was deleted. The admin had noted that it was deleted for "Creation by a blocked or banned user in violation of block or ban: see Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Paul Bedson/Archive". I didn't even know what the article was like. In case you have complaints against this deletion of the article, please approach Wikipedia:Deletion review. I can't help you here as i have no knowledge of the subject. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 19:45, 11 May 2013 (UTC)

I have added DoB, though that Better photography article has more info, I think it is ready for DYK. Please go ahead. In case you do not have QPQ, you don't need to review one, I have some advanced QPQs, use this one as QPQ: Template:Did you know nominations/Rock Drill (Jacob Epstein) --Tito Dutta (contact) 08:16, 14 May 2013 (UTC)

We have a better source that says he was 62 years old when he died. So he must be born in 1951/52 and not 1954. (I personally don't trust DNA either. But thats a newspaper and hence should be considered more reliable.) But good that you found the betterphotography link. It has good info. Will have to add it. I have few unused QPQs. But i don't see anything interesting worth a hook as of now in the article. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 08:31, 14 May 2013 (UTC)
I have a doubt, that ToI has used the image I uploaded. I cropped Bollywood Hungama, they cropped me! That January 2013 Andheri wandering or one of most celebrated photographers of 1990s may have some potential as hook! --Tito Dutta (contact) 09:00, 14 May 2013 (UTC)
Andheri wandering incident has a bad connotation and can't be used. Plus his daughter has said that the reports are false. Such likely untrue statements can't go on main pages. "Celebrated photographer" is a POV of the reporter, who himself isn't much notable for his penmanship. Its just like how every old celebrity is "veteran". Nothing interesting in it so far. And recently i have been strolling around on WP:TDYK and rejecting/commenting on such mediocre hooks. There are many editors who are of the opinion that such hooks are a reason why DYK section should be removed from main page. Adding one more to their example would only help their case stronger, which i personally wouldn't want. I like DYK more than any other section on main page. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 11:43, 14 May 2013 (UTC)

17 Facts About Narendra Modi you might not know:

FACT 7

In 1965, there was a war between India and Pakistan. Modi had volunteered to serve the soldiers in transit at a railway station.

10 facts to know about Narendra Modi:

2.Narendra Modi is a patriot since childhood. During Indo-Pak war of 1965, Modi, as a 15 year old boy, volunteered to serve the soldiers in transit at the railway stations. Similarly, in 1967 at an age of 17 years, he served the flood affected people of Gujarat.

Exclusion of numbers is less informative: Sitush is white-washing the article. In Wikipedia the more information one article has the better. Numbers put perspective into things. "Many" is an imprecise word. We don't add imprecise things deliberately. Mr T(Talk?) (New thread?) 16:25, 17 May 2013 (UTC)

Your input, if you feel so inclined

Hi Dharmadhyaksha, I see that you state that you don't do vandal fighting any longer - I respect that, because it is an eternal uphill battle and tends to sour the editing experience... I hope you don't mind me asking your input on something, though; if you don't want to comment, please ignore this message and remove it if you like, and accept my apologies for bringing you potentially unwanted commentary to your talk page. What I am wondering about is a possible new Shrik88music sock - Lionbase1234 (contributions). I don't want to start SPIs frivolously, and I really may be seeing similarities where none exists, so I would very much appreciate it if you would just cast a quick eye on their editing and let me know if I'm way off base here. But as I say, I respect your wish to stay out of some of the more unpleasant sides of Wikipedia, and I have felt rather discouraged by this particular sockpuppeteer in the past myself (which is why I dropped the previous SPI, which you later brought up, for which I thank you), so if you wish no involvement in this I completely understand. Sincerely, --bonadea contributions talk 10:22, 26 May 2013 (UTC)

Hello Bonadea! You are right. WP:DUCK it is. You may file the SPI based on their statistical edits to M. S. Viswanathan. Previous socks like PrithviSanju (talk · contribs) and Onceshook1 (talk · contribs) have shown similar styles. Their differences can been picked from old SPIs. Also he seems to be fan of Himansh Kohli on whose article he is working at User:Lionbase1234/Himansh Kohli. Kohli's previous articles had been edited by some proven socks. He also seems to have great interest in the article Humse Hai Liife of a TV show where Kohli plays lead role. Big fat duck i would say. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 12:19, 26 May 2013 (UTC)

See this immediately

DS recently started a WP:RM at Talk:2002 Gujarat violence where he wanted to move the page to Anti- Muslim pogrom in Gujarat 2002

Then seeing how it was getting "oppose" responses, he unilaterally created Anti- Muslim pogroms in India (also see WP:A10). I have left a comment on Nick's page. I think this needs to stop.

You know what's worse? This page was autopatrolled, Darkness has auto-patrolled rights. Mr T(Talk?) (New thread?) 11:55, 26 May 2013 (UTC)

A10ed it for duplication of Persecution_of_Muslims#India. Lets see if it gets deleted or not. Many admins would probably turn a blind eye to it. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 12:08, 26 May 2013 (UTC)
Why Persecution_of_Muslims#India? Why not put a custom rationale and mention both Persecution of Muslims#India and 2002 Gujarat violence and the fact that it is a hoax (unproven allegation). (Trust me on this)

Can be classified as an attack page? I think AFDing would be best. Mr T(Talk?) (New thread?) 14:46, 26 May 2013 (UTC)

I will have to AFD it once the speedy is rejected. Also i chose Persecution article because if this article ever grows into something more than Gujarat violence, it will eventually become similar to persecution section. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 14:57, 26 May 2013 (UTC)
See the changes that Darkness Shines is trying to bring at the lede of 2002 Gujarat violence. He again says that the violence was orchestrated. I am not saying it is wrong per se but I think we need to balance it further. Mr T(Talk?) (New thread?) 15:57, 20 June 2013 (UTC)

I know. Its at User:Darkness Shines/Pogroms. Will take action on it once its in article space. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 11:46, 27 May 2013 (UTC)
  • In case I am absent to raise these issues myself once that is on article space, I request you to quote these from here, I would like to point to the following things:
  1. The following articles Persecution of Muslims#India, Religious violence in India and 2002 Gujarat violence cover the topic in detail.
  2. This term, "Pogrom" originates from 19th-century Tsarist Russia where it was first used to label attacks against Jewish civilians that were officially approved by the authorities but carried out by civilian mobs who acted with impunity while the police watched idly.
  3. The pogrom thing, as of now, is mentioned in context of Gujarat. Now, there is no proof that it was formally instigated by the Gujarat authorities. Far from stoking violence, the authorities, in an attempt to quell the riot, actually declared a curfew immediately after the first signs of attack — and this was spelled out even in media reports. Thus, the police didn't sit back and watch idly.
  4. In the aftermath a good many people (mostly Hindus) were punished (sentenced to life in prison). Hence, they weren't acting with "impunity".
  5. Thus there were no "pogroms" against Muslims in India.
Yes, there were communal riots here and there since independence (which is covered in Religious violence in India in detail). But to take this sort of extraordinary leap from riots to "pogrom" would be grossly unfair. Mr T(Talk?) (New thread?) 17:45, 28 May 2013 (UTC)
Oh, by the way, I saw your comment on 'Religious violence in India' the content about Vijayanagar sack is still missing from the article. The sources
  • Farooqui, Salma Ahmed. A Comprehensive History of Medieval India: From Twelfth to the Mid-Eighteenth Century. Pearson Education India. pp. 124–125. ISBN 8131732029.
  • Swell, Robert (2004). A Forgotten Empire: Vijayanagar (reprint ed.). Kessinger Publishing. p. 144. ISBN 1419101250. {{cite book}}: |access-date= requires |url= (help)
corroborate the claims. DS cited, "Hindu culture during and after Muslim rule: survival and subsequent challenges 1994 p43 Originally from Sewells A Forgotten Empire". However, he didn't even try to specify which part is the copy-vio and confirmed that "that really is all [he] can do".
Nonetheless, majority of the removed content was inside quotation marks. Mr T(Talk?) (New thread?) 17:45, 28 May 2013 (UTC)
On the pogroms, i or someone else will take care if you are not around when the article is out. On religious violence, i will get to that when i get time today. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 05:31, 29 May 2013 (UTC)

Pictures upload

I need your help regarding picture uploads for Aashiqui 2. I want two promotional pictures of cast, one for Theatrical release poster and one for album art. And, one more of Both part 1 and part 2 to show resemblance with each other (theme of poster). Would you please, upload those pictures from Bollywood Hungama. I would be grateful to you.Prashant 08:08, 27 May 2013 (UTC)

Give me the links from BH and i will upload it. But why don't you learn it yourself? Last time also i asked you to start uploading images on your own. If you have any doubts, ask and i can help you. Once you know it, you wont have to run to other editors for help. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 08:13, 27 May 2013 (UTC)
Here is the link.
And, if possible then. This pic, joint picture of part 1 and part 2. I want to show resemblance of new poster to older 1 as the theme (under the jacket) is notable and highlight.Prashant 08:38, 27 May 2013 (UTC)
You can not have so many non-free images on this article. If you want the green raining poster to compare with old Aashiqui's poster then the current one i.e. File:'Aashiqui 2' First Look official Teaser Trailer.jpg has to be removed. Same old Aashiqui's poster will also go in the infobox at Aashiqui. And check Brokeback Mountain on how the comparison is made. Promotional images i will upload on Commons. These posters will be uploaded here on en wiki. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 08:58, 27 May 2013 (UTC)

These are the two images you will need. Now where and how you want to place them, you know and you do it yourself. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 09:28, 27 May 2013 (UTC)
First is for comparison. Okay don't upload second one. Please don't do this. The image which u used was album cover. But, you didn't added promotional event pic (which has two lead actors). Only these two pics. Please upload it.Prashant 09:35, 27 May 2013 (UTC)

Help

In case an edit request on a protected page is pending since long, where do i re-request admins to check this request? §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 11:12, 31 May 2013 (UTC)}}

As a last resort, you could try Wikipedia:Protection_requests#Current_requests_for_edits_to_a_protected_page. The request adds the page to a maintenance category that is patrolled by admins but my suspicion is they are deliberately ignoring the request for now due to the numerous ongoing debates at Talk:Narendra Modi. - Sitush (talk) 11:15, 31 May 2013 (UTC)
I know of the category Category:Wikipedia protected edit requests. But i am seeing few more 2-3 days old request in it. Dunno if those pages are also heated ones. Hence wanted to wake up some admins. You think that particular request is controversial? §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 11:20, 31 May 2013 (UTC)
I am not in a position to comment on the content of the request because I lack the ability to see the books mentioned. They may be hagiographies, they may be impartial or they may be critiques. Given your tendency to appear pro-Modi, I'd guess that an admin might be cautious in accepting the request but I am no mind-reader. It is odd that no-one has commented for or against, so you might want to bump the thread; otherwise, I can only suggest that you list it at the link I mention above. Given the sheer volume of traffic on the page, perhaps people are not commenting for/against the proposal because they are just getting tired of dealing with relatively minor stuff. The entire thing is a war zone at present! - Sitush (talk) 11:32, 31 May 2013 (UTC)
Oh, btw, I do know that Modi recently pulled his approval of a biography - it is mentioned somewhere in the archives. Is that biography one of the books that you have listed? It probably should be. - Sitush (talk) 11:34, 31 May 2013 (UTC)
I don't have access to any of those books. I simply searched on Google and found these relevant to him and hence enlisted them. The "further read" section should just list all books that are written on him, irrespective of their nature. If the book you mention is not in this, then add it. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 11:43, 31 May 2013 (UTC)
Ah. I don't think Further Reading is intended to be just a random list. Basically, if you haven't read them yourself then I don't see how you can be certain that they comply with Wikipedia:Further_reading#Considerations_for_inclusion_of_entries. So, perhaps the request needs to be withdrawn. - Sitush (talk) 12:10, 31 May 2013 (UTC)

Anti-Muslim pogroms in India

This is disruptive. The article is inherently biased starting from the name. It claims, "Anti-Muslim pogroms in India refer to pogroms carried out with the states tacit approval" who can really claim that where was it proved that it was a "pogrom"? Mr T(Talk?) (New thread?) 16:40, 3 June 2013 (UTC)

Are you guys seriously going to deny that the BJP use anti Muslim rhetoric on a regular basis? And deliberately foster this violence? And that these pogroms happen? Read the sources, then condemn those who do this. Darkness Shines (talk) 16:45, 3 June 2013 (UTC)
You created an article about Anti-Muslim violence and speak about BJP rhetoric? You should know that majority of violence occurred under congress rule. Also you seem written a lot of biased things on the article.-sarvajna (talk) 17:20, 3 June 2013 (UTC)
It occurred under congress rule as it was an electoral strategy by the BJP. What in the article is biased BTW? All is academically sourced and neutral so far as I can see. Ironic really, Mrt asked me to look at the Godra train burning article and here we are, now I am detested both sides of the LOC, best I stay in England. Darkness Shines (talk) 17:26, 3 June 2013 (UTC)
I am not sure if you really know this, BJP is almost non-existent in Assam, BJP formed the govt along with JD(U) in Bihar where Bhagalpur is situated only in 2005. BJP was power in Gujarat even before 2002 violence, they were actually in power since 1995 I guess. There had been no riots in Gujarat since last decade, probably the most peaceful decade in Gujarat. No riots in MP or Chhattisgarh. I feel that you should do some more research before coming to a conclusion. I will try to stay away from this article as much as possible, I have already been accused of being a paid agent :-(-sarvajna (talk) 17:47, 3 June 2013 (UTC)
Hmm, a paid agent? I think not  . The violence had tapered off for a while as the BJP had been going strong, when they were not they used the good old divide and conquer rule. That actually needs to be added to the article, I had forgotten it, but if you look through the sources you will see I am very accurate in following them. Darkness Shines (talk) 18:02, 3 June 2013 (UTC)
That article is rabble-rousing to the point of ridiculousness. The following articles Persecution of Muslims#India, Religious violence in India and 2002 Gujarat violence cover the topic in detail. A whole article based on allegations and propagandist assertion is nothing but disruptive. Who cares what "Christophe Jaffrelot" thinks or believes, he, or anybody for that matter, has not proved that the "riots" had official approval of the "Government", that's what "pogrom" implies.

I am not denying religious violence has always existed in India as a pestilence since the very inception of this civilization, but to label them as "pogroms" is grossly biased.
The article reels off many popular names of organizations and appends very derogatory claims behind them, based on what? Garbled assertions and twisted claims which, after a thorough scrutiny, prove to be patently false. It distorts many things. It omits the cause as well as the aftermath of the riots, the actions taken by the government altogether, why? I think it is so that the crimes seem more like "pogroms". Darkness Shines makes it seem the gujarat violence was a "pogrom"-thing as of now. There is no freaking proof that it was formally instigated by the Gujarat authorities. Far from stoking violence, the authorities, in an attempt to quell the riot, actually declared a curfew immediately after the first signs of attack — and this was spelled out even in media reports. Thus, the police didn't sit back and watch idly. In fact Modi has been exonerated by the SIT. In the aftermath of 2002 Gujarat violence a good many people (mostly Hindus) were punished (sentenced to life in prison). Hence, they weren't acting with "impunity".

"The destruction of the Babri Mosque by nationalists lead directly to the violence in 1992" (Bombay Riots) — how on earth is "Bombay Riots" a "pogrom" now? Nellie massacre, 1989 Bhagalpur violence are "pogroms" now? Did DS even read the target articles before adding them in this article? Just because some self-styled "author" doesn't know how to use some English words in right context or tremendously lacks basic knowledge of history, does it make every one of his radical claims true? That article is a POV-hellhole, and the language oooh it's pure seditiousness. Mr T(Talk?) (New thread?) 06:36, 4 June 2013 (UTC)

  • No use discussing all this on my talk page. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 05:38, 5 June 2013 (UTC)
It is discussions like this which make me believe that wikipedia is a waste of time. Something I have already know of course. But it is not something that happened overnight, it has always been like this, compare with this article on Google Groups alt.wikipedia groups.google.com/forum/?fromgroups#!topic/alt.politics.india/j9kEYaZ7DrQ --Cuffasofas (talk) 18:04, 8 June 2013 (UTC)

Why?

I really don't know what has happened to you of late, Animesh, but you've changed from being a helpful, positive contributor to being someone who, well, isn't. And you've changed from doing good stuff on movies etc to doing somewhat more iffy stuff relating to right-wing/Hindutva politics. What you do and why is your affair, of course, but I'm sorry to see this development because it is likely to end in tears. I will say no more here but you have my email address if you want to use it. - Sitush (talk) 05:32, 6 June 2013 (UTC)

I am still helpful and positively contributing. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Its you who cant see good stuff in my editing. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 05:45, 6 June 2013 (UTC)
Well, I guess I tried. I'm sorry because you are going to find yourself blocked and even topic banned if you keep this up, especially when you start making unfounded insinuations about me and the admin corps: you've lost all sense of proportion and reason. As you are aware, the sanctions are wide-ranging and you should be aware that you are under the microscope. - Sitush (talk) 05:59, 6 June 2013 (UTC)
"I'm sorry because you are going to find yourself blocked and even topic banned if you keep this up" - why are you so vague, is that a threat? Why don't you look in the mirror, Sitush? What exactly did Dharma do to merit a topic ban or block? Stop this attitude. Mr T(Talk?) (New thread?) 06:34, 6 June 2013 (UTC)
You'll likely find out why - it is out of my hands now. Life would be a lot better all round, Mrt, if you didn't feel the need to insert your own comments across quite so many talk page. Mine was a gesture of good faith based on knowledge of Animesh both on- and off-wiki but, of course, you go straight into accusatory mode. - Sitush (talk) 06:50, 6 June 2013 (UTC)
"Mine was a gesture of good faith based on knowledge of Animesh both on- and off-wiki" - do you know him in real life? In that case It would be preferable, I think, if you didn't mix the two. I am not the one who is accusing, it was an observation, or rather a query. You're habituated to threatening others, you've in past vilified, vituperated and threatened me too. It seems as though it's your habit. You already know how Dharma feels about you, yet you come here and threaten him with Blocks and Bans?? How amicable! Mr T(Talk?) (New thread?) 07:26, 6 June 2013 (UTC)
  • Dharma always remember you were, are and you will always be a good contributor if you are clear to your conscience and adhere to Wiki-policies. Don't let other people demotivate you or dictate you what you should or should not do. You're free person, not an intellectual slave of somebody. Mr T(Talk?) (New thread?) 06:34, 6 June 2013 (UTC)

Sourcing issue

I am unsure if any information of this page verifies this sentence Since partition these pogroms have been endemic in India! Your take on it? --Tito Dutta  (talkcontributionsemail) 14:40, 6 June 2013 (UTC)

The line you refer to does come from that source. But the line is a quote with no attribution. So if Johnny Lever has said that line it would be our stupidity to use it. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 17:59, 6 June 2013 (UTC)
I don't know why they didn't add Google Books previews in that Anti-Muslim pogrom article, few more sources have similar issues. But, without direct preview link it is getting difficult to verify those. --Tito Dutta  (talkcontributionsemail) 18:23, 6 June 2013 (UTC)
I would assume good faith here and suppose that DS simply missed that and also years of publications. Those years also help in getting proper perspective. It is stupid if we use old sources for claims which were later proven wrong in court. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 18:31, 6 June 2013 (UTC)
I always add year of publication, dunno why they are not showing but if you edit the article and look at the refs you will see date, month and year. Darkness Shines (talk) 18:39, 6 June 2013 (UTC)
@Darkness Shines: Date and month is not required for books. That's why the year wasn't seen.
@Titodutta: You are right. There are issues on several sources. Misrepresentations mostly. I see no point in cleaning it. Cleaning it would mean writing "according to XYZ" after every sentence. Taking it to AFD straightaway. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 05:06, 7 June 2013 (UTC)
  • Yes, I was just seeing the AFD. I'll try to check the sources once again on/after 9th when I'll get back my normal internet speed. --Tito Dutta  (talkcontributionsemail) 05:12, 7 June 2013 (UTC)
Sure! No rush. Given the nature, the AFD is not gonna close in one week's time anyways. We will be seeing few IPs, few socks, few simply I-hate-this-AFD kinda votes, big walls of posts and what not. You will need good net speed for sure.   §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 05:17, 7 June 2013 (UTC)
It is disturbing to see the article does not provide direct Google book preview link. Currently one needs to click on ISBNs and then search in a) Google Books b) Amazon preview c) and finally Questia etc to verify sources. A good number of sources "have" Google Books preview. I don't know if it was an attempt to create hindrance so that someone faces difficulties to verify sources. See Baboon43's first !Keep vote at AFD, I doubt if he has read all the sources (in just 9 minutes) before commenting "well-sourced". In my opinion, statements and allegations in that article have been exaggerated. In addition, your definition of "pogrom" i.e. attacks on Jews may not be "totally" correct (note "totally") as well. Current use of the word suggests "attack on minority groups or helpless people" --Tito Dutta  (talkcontributionsemail) 05:34, 7 June 2013 (UTC)
I wouldn't be totally surprised if such hindrance was actually intended. What more should we expect from a person with that user name?! I know that with fashion the word has been used for various other applications. But that's where it doesn't satisfy our WP:COMMONNAME. Funny thing... as fashion catches so soon, one user was actually proposing calling Persecution of Biharis in Bangladesh as Anti-Bihari pogroms in Bangladesh.   §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 05:49, 7 June 2013 (UTC)
Since we're just throwing random labels around, I would not be offended if somebody moved that page to "1984 anti-Sikh holocaust". Come on. I mean what is this shit that's going on? Mr T(Talk?) (New thread?) 06:34, 7 June 2013 (UTC)
We should have a competition of most-creative names. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 06:42, 7 June 2013 (UTC)
From a serious point of view and "in general" I think "riot" or" "massacre" will be better words, following List of massacres in India.   An editor feels this/this part of discussion is a WikiProject India related topic and is requesting to either consider moving this discussion to   WikiProject India Noticeboard or inform the noticeboard about it. Please see this essay for details. --Tito Dutta  (talkcontributionsemail) 06:53, 7 June 2013 (UTC)

GARs

So, when are you closing those GARs? In next birth? It was very easy for you to take both the articles to GAR and now you have got slap across your face, when you'll close them. When everytime I see those GARs, my blood pressure rises to see as why it happened. You should be shameful for that as if you can't respect others hard work, how could you expect respect? Please, close them as soon as possible. But, it will remain a thorn in my hand (as I typed these articles with my tired hands).Prashant 10:40, 7 June 2013 (UTC)

Read the section "Guidelines for closing a community reassessment discussion" on Wikipedia:Good_article_reassessment/guidelines. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 11:24, 7 June 2013 (UTC)
I think, you haven't read that. Both pages screams "Keep", which were the thinking of all the editors. You go and close by contacting the coordinator/ administrator.Prashant 13:12, 7 June 2013 (UTC)

Nothing of it is my problem. I am an involved user and hence i dont think i can close it or canvass about it. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 05:48, 8 June 2013 (UTC)

Sorry! But i don't understand what my connection is here. Or is it just for my info? §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 06:16, 10 June 2013 (UTC)
  • That was a request for input or request for comment. Anyway, leave that.
In January we (CorrectKnowledge and I) found an anti-Indian person, his comments and ideas included—
  • "The Devil has taken the shape of Asia and His heart is India."
  • "Freedom for India is freedom for evil."
  • "India is a cancer." etc.
We nominated those for deletion in Wikiversity. You can see the deletion discussion here wikiversity:Wikiversity:Requests_for_Deletion#Kedar_Joshi. See "archived article link" below each entry. Now, after 4—5 months those have been deleted. Totally absurd and defamatory! But, the problem is they have created the biographical article in a bunch of Wikipedias. The one of the English Wikipedia has been deleted for notability issue! --Tito Dutta  (talkcontributionsemail) 06:41, 10 June 2013 (UTC)
Oh! Seems like this Joshi guy has covered all projects. If he is not notable, i will also remove his quotes from Wikiquote. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 06:53, 10 June 2013 (UTC)
I removed all those quotes and then they were instantly reverted by RogDel. Then i got a note saying that the discussion is already going on about this at Wikiquote:Village_pump#Kedar_Joshi_quote_farming. I guess you can also join in as you have read more stuff from Joshi. Meanwhile i have also asked for deletion of his numerous images. Its kinda lame reason as of now over there, but lets see how to take it further. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 10:06, 10 June 2013 (UTC)
  • Have you seen these? I was thinking to move to Meta and ask deletion of all Wikipedia articles! I asked for suggestion at WT:INB, was not very helpful! --Tito Dutta  (talkcontributionsemail) 11:18, 10 June 2013 (UTC)
I was actually gonna enquire whether some common deletion forum can be established. If Meta does that, lets head there. Or else its difficult to do it on other wikis. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 11:39, 10 June 2013 (UTC)
  • Filed it as Request for deletion on multi wikis of articles about Kedar Joshi (d:Q55704). Hope its rightly done. If you know of any shortfalls in it, please edit it. Also, as this discussion is happening on a totally different planet, how are respective wikis notified? Do i have to do that or do editors of WM take care of it? §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 15:21, 10 June 2013 (UTC)
  • Excellent! There is a RogDel who'll notified automatically (I mean, so far, it has happened so). I have added a comment and added few more entries. Let's wait for initial comment at least and see how it goes and then we can notify the editor who participated in the English AFD (that will be "legitimate canvassing"). Those content are deleted and recreated multiple times. It is a deliberate attempt to promote anti-Indian comments. In Meta, you can change preference to "notify me after every watchlist change" and add that page in watchlist. --Tito Dutta  (talkcontributionsemail) 15:41, 10 June 2013 (UTC)
And what after that? If i dont understand the language i cant surf randomly. You know, i have some talk page messages on my Russian, Tamil and what not wikis. I am guessing they are welcome notes. Can't even figure out if they are final warning notes.   §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 17:31, 10 June 2013 (UTC)
  • Yes, and it becomes worse when Google Translator does not help. I have posted in multiple Wikis including French, Russian, Ukrainian etc. Generally other Wikipedias' editors help and see this — whole discussion in English! --Tito Dutta  (talkcontributionsemail) 17:54, 10 June 2013 (UTC)

Singh

Hey Dharmadhyaksha, can't you see that the 14.* IP is a sock of Krant M L Verma? Is there no alternate image of Singh that omits the self-promotional twit? - Sitush (talk) 18:25, 10 June 2013 (UTC)

Who so ever the IP is, both subjects are notable and have article here. So come up with a reason that warrants exclusion of Verma's image irrespective of who the editor is. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 18:28, 10 June 2013 (UTC)
That writer is back? He contacted me at Commons last year. Which article? --Tito Dutta  (talkcontributionsemail) 18:30, 10 June 2013 (UTC)
Tito, in so far as it relates to this thread, the article is Rajendra Singh (RSS). More generally, contributions from 14.* IPs promoting the works and image of Krant M L Verma have been making appearances elsewhere. He was indefinitely blocked after a prolonged period of self-promotion, incompetent contributions and apparent lying. Thus, any attempt to repeat by an IP and in such a consistent manner is block evasion and warrants immediate removal. There's the rationale, D. - Sitush (talk) 19:51, 10 June 2013 (UTC)

Please check the time stamps before making unwarranted accusations of IP editors complaining about me. At IP 19:08, 26 June 2013 complains on MrTs talk page that someone had messed up the article, my first edit was 19:13, 26 June 2013, so the IP was not in fact complaining about me at all. Per your request at WT:HOCKEY, I have expanded the article beyond a stub, so if you were hoping for its associated image to appear on the main page, the article should now be of sufficient quality. Cheers! Resolute 00:29, 29 June 2013 (UTC)

Hey Resolute! That's a good job done. If you haven’t noticed, you have also expanded the article fivefold and now its eligible for DYK. And i dont think there are any rules that stop an article from being featured in DYK as well as TFP. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 05:57, 29 June 2013 (UTC)
Personally, I find the QPQ requirement annoying - though I understand and support its purpose. These days, I tend only to nominate for DYK when I am participating in the WikiCup or come across an article subject with an unusual or interesting trait. Pettersson really has neither. Though anyone else is free to nominate if they so choose. Thanks! Resolute 22:23, 29 June 2013 (UTC)

He has replaced a image that i had uploaded at Surat Railway station despite me tell him that he is wrong & why he is wrong also. The present image on Surat Railway station & Mumbai Rajdhani is exactly the same but still he refuses to listen & starts making accusations. Could you pls look into it? Stop removing reliably sourced content just because you do not like what it says, this disruptive behaviour is getting ridiculous now. And what do you mean by my "team"?Darkness Shines (talk) 10:37, 17 July 2013 (UTC)

You should know that not everything sourced deserves place here. And team means "any group of people involved in the same activity, especially referring to sports and work". Here the activity is writing this article. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 10:43, 17 July 2013 (UTC)

No, you have not explained it at all, you are prevaricating. You have accused me of being in a "team" now explain why or strike your PA. Darkness Shines (talk) 10:55, 17 July 2013 (UTC)
I have explained what i meant. Now if you don't wanna understand it or if you wanna think of it as prevarication, i can't help. Also, its not a WP:PA and i can't help there either if you are conveniently assuming it to be an attack. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 11:08, 17 July 2013 (UTC)

Darkness, I know that it is convenient to do this sort of thing using Twinkle etc but I do think D falls into the "do not template the regulars" criterion. Aniketp007, you deleted well sourced comments made by Nitesh Narayan Rane with secondary references from established newspapers like Economic Times and Dna India. Nitesh Rane has not denied making those statements and has given interviews supporting his rather controversial xenophobic tweets. By unilaterly deleting those comments you fell foul of wikipedia policies and I left a message on your talkpage. Wikipedia policy is not to censor offensive material. If you want any clarification for me please leave a message on my talk page. Thanks. --Neelkamala (talk) 03:38, 7 August 2013 (UTC)
  • Sorry guy! I dont have much time at hand now. But i agree with Neelkamala that the content should stay. Only i object to it's current form. One or two lines about the situation are fine. Also, we need not have a special section as "controversy". You see, the content above in the article, like the birthday banners, vadapav stalls, Zenda, etc. are also termed as "controversy" in media. But we don't create such special dedicated sections in BLPs; unless they are only known for that. We blend the content in other sections. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 03:49, 7 August 2013 (UTC)

bhai.. i admit it was a mistake to directly delete that content and as you have said using some lines about situation is fine but those quotes are removing the attention from other material and there's already a section named "media". i hope that user will make changes to that content.Aniketp007 (talk) 09:05, 7 August 2013 (UTC)

query

can you tell please me what tag should i use to blend that "controversy" section into "media" section? or should i just remove the section and write the summarized matter into media section? and the reference links too.Aniketp007 (talk) 12:55, 7 August 2013 (UTC)

On Dharmaraya Swamy Temple I have tried to get references but all references talk about Karaga on which there is a very large article. Both can not be expanded by 5x for DYK. Wrong map of India

Hi Dharmadhyaksha,

I am working on some articles for Wikiproject India and observed that the map shown here Outline of India is not in line with the current status. Pls. see the map.

In this, Kashmir is shown of Pakistan. This map is linked to many articles Request to help in deleting this map as it gives the wrong message to the world. I request you to help in deleting all such maps and put the right map in place of that. Coolgama (talk) 06:26, 19 August 2013 (UTC)

Hi! It is not really possible to delete this map. The map is freely available and comes from CIA World Factbook. Even if it's different from reality (reality being that Kashmir is officially part of India) or global consensus (global consensus being its officially part of India but occupied by Pakistan and thus termed POK), the fact that CIA WFB thinks that this is how India's map is is enough reason to keep it. However, what you can practically do is remove it from articles and replace it with another one. Moreover, a non-practical solution would be to raise a deletion review on Commons. But there are fairly very good chances of it going unfavourable for numerous reasons. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 16:51, 19 August 2013 (UTC)

Pav Bhaji

A plate of Pav Bhaji for you
Here is a plate of Pav Bhaji for you. Pav Bhaji is a Maharashtrian fast food which became popular in all over India. Pav bhaji consists of bhaji (a thick potato-based curry) garnished with coriander, chopped onion, and a dash of lemon and lightly toasted pav. The pav is usually buttered on all sides.
Thank you.

Aam Aadmi Party debate

Can you please go through the talk page of this article & comment your opinion on 'battery operated rickshaw driver's protest'

Summary of it is as below.

Topic- Which of the two versions be preferred to go into the protest section of 'Article'

Option A -

ADD - The AAP has supported various regulatory complaints raised by rickshaw operators in Delhi.

KEEP - the rest of the 'protest' section as it is.

Option B -

ADD - On 16 September 2013, Aam Aadmi Party supported e-rickshaw driver's demand in Delhi that there should be a policy on battery operated rickshaws in the capital city to stop their exploitation by Delhi Transport Department. Party also said that a subsidy should be given to manual rickshaw drivers who want to purchase e-rickshaws. Earlier in June 2013, the party had supported agitations of rickshaw drivers against ban on advertisements on auto rickshaws alleging that the ban is imposed because most rickshaw drivers supported Aam Aadmi party & carried their banners.

remove - On 10 June 2013, Kejriwal supported the agitation of Delhi auto rickshaw drivers, who were protesting the Delhi government's ban on advertisements on auto rickshaws. Kejriwal claimed that, auto rickshaw drivers supported his party and they carried AAP's advertisements on their auto rickshaws and this is the reason for Delhi Government's ban and he challenged that volunteers of AAP will put 10,000 advertisements on auto rickshaws as a protest.

Pushpak Express

Our good friend is back on the Pushpak Express page. Think you need to pay a visit there.

On another front,i have managed to upload images on every page on the western railway suburban railway station pages from Virar to Churchgate, Harbour Line from Andheri to Mumbai CST, Main Line from Mumbai CST to Thane except Vikhroli & Bhandup ( i have a similar image to the present one). So life is good here.

What have you been upto? Superfast1111 (talk) 06:16, 19 October 2013 (UTC)

I dont think i have time for the Pushpak issue. If at all it is getting out of control with a certain editor you can ask for some help at WP:DRN. Nice to know about all the images. I have some images of stations post Thane on Central line and i will try to upload them today. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 12:52, 19 October 2013 (UTC)

Good heavens, the idea is not to bother you but in my experience if you get more people involved in the beginning of the problem, it helps preventing it spiral out of control. Anyway, the issue has been taken care of. Superfast1111 (talk) 12:14, 24 October 2013 (UTC)

Thanks! But it would be really great if you work on your article more. You should start with it in your own space Help:Userspace draft and then move it to article space when you are done with it. That way you can take your own time before someone speedy deletes it. (I take months together many times in userspace.) Also i find it easy to nominate article for WP:DYK once they are nicely fleshed. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 07:27, 30 October 2013 (UTC)

November 2013

It is best that you not edit the Anuj Dhar article until some consensus has evolved on it. Please consider this a polite warning. Fowler&fowler«Talk» 12:52, 7 November 2013 (UTC)

Consensus of what? Editing doesn't require consensus. The matter to be written in it might require and you can't discuss to reach consensus until its written. (Unless you are the-one-who-must-not-be-named and are already reading my mind.) Basic stuff: the guy is talked about a lot in newspapers, news channels, his books are mentioned many times, his Mission Netaji is talked about a lot, his "RTI crusades" are covered in news and all is happening since long; not a one time event. Your best chance of not getting me to edit is to get the article deleted. And i know you and i haven't gone along well majority of the times so its obvious for you to go polite-warning me. But dude, you are reaping what you sowed. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 13:07, 7 November 2013 (UTC)

Anuj Dhar

Can you please tell me why you removed the sentence "Dhar released his third book No Secrets on the Bose mystery in 2013 which discusses the suspected Russian, Chinese, and Vietnamese connections to the mystery."[1] from this article? -- XrieJetInfo (talk) 19:05, 7 November 2013 (UTC)

Two reasons for reverting you. You removed RegentPark's edit of "several book" and wrote "three" there. That was unnecessary. We need not be so precise. We can't sit and edit articles every time Dhar writes another book to change this count. Secondly, the article already mentioned No Secrets as "In the book No Secrets, Dhar claims that, according to a newspaper article published by Bose's elder brother Sarat Chandra Bose in The Nation, Bose was in China in October 1949." Hence i found it repetition. Also, the reference doesn't mention Vietnam. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 19:11, 7 November 2013 (UTC)

Infobox

Regarding this edit:

  • The monarch infobox is used in only a few mythology related article, all of which were recently added by Parik92 (talk · contribs). I recently removed most/all of these infoboxes from those articles too... before I saw your revert (else I would have waited)
  • As I noted of Parik92's userpage, the monarch infobox is an ill-fit for mythological figures with complicated lineages and varying legends.
  • In addition the particular Karna box has glaring anachronisms: for example giving him the title of "Samrat Karna" or religion of "Hinduism".

If you still feel that the infobox should be included, we can start a discussion at WT:HNB for further input. Let me know what you think. Abecedare (talk) 15:38, 10 November 2013 (UTC)

I think whatever info shared on wiki should be a complete one.. If public is getting information on Karna's character they should know correct thing.. Samrat is not at all related to hinduism .. it means King and according to epic Karna was the king of Anga state and mentioned many a time by the title of samrat in literature. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Parik92 (talkcontribs) 15:48, 10 November 2013 (UTC)
Well, i wasn't aware that such infobox addition was recent. I thought there always was some infobox there. Its strange that many Hindu characters don't have infoboxes, now that am seeing. In case you find monarch as unsuitable template, do we have any other option? Ravana uses this box too, where it does not seem odd. Although it did use Template:Infobox deity before that. Do we go on using deity template for all? If we try really hard, we can surely locate a temple for all these to prove they are worshipped and bestow them with deity status. Karna has at least one temple. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 18:33, 10 November 2013 (UTC)
I don't have a problem with infoboxes in general, and the exact template used (diety, monarch, person etc) is not much of a issue either, since wikipedia readers don't see the template name in any case. The main issue, as I see it, is that the fields that are included in the infobox be well-suited to the article's subject, and not leave the reader with the wrong impression (or worse, wrong information).
To be explicit, consider the case of Karna: the most notable aspects of his story in Mahabharate are his being (to put it loosely) a half-brother of Pandavas who was brought up outside the family-fold, and fights at the side of the more-distantly related Kauravas. His being the nominal King of Anga is completely incidental. Now look at the infobox included here and go through the fields in order: you'll notice that many, if not most of them, are just made up ("Samrat Karna", "Angaraaj Karna" as full name), wrong (Mahabharata and Kunti as Issues (?!)), or debateable/misleading (Surya as "Biological father"; Yadu as Royal House; Hinduism as religion). While some of these are easy to fix, the last category of errors is especially hard to deal with in pre-formatted infoboxes. We would seem to have a choice between with either a non-informative infobox with only a few fields filled, or worse, a misleading infobox that leaves the reader less well-informed about what is important to know about Karna, than two well-written sentences in the lede. Trying to shoehorn Karna into a diety infobox would present comparable problems.
All that said, perhaps we can build a new (or, usurp an existing) infobox better suited for such cases. Since I have not looked at this for a long time, I'll ping @Redtigerxyz: for input too. Thoughts, comments welcome. Abecedare (talk) 19:57, 10 November 2013 (UTC)
There would also be some or the other problem in putting things in a template. Even if we manufactured our own separate template, which will surely be deleted by horrendous majority in no time, it will also have some or the other problem. The main problem comes in fixing all Hindu concepts to suit something with the Western ones. In that we at times complicate stuff or really dumb down them. Its right that a well written lead will suffice any infobox. But i prefer infoboxes over complicated sentences which our editors frame. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 10:08, 11 November 2013 (UTC)

Why?

Why did you do this? Seems to have been rather inappropriate - I nom'd it and have little intent to return to it ES&L 12:43, 14 November 2013 (UTC)

Thanks! This msg is enough. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 14:34, 14 November 2013 (UTC)
This is your second warning: please do not be disruptive by pinging people in that manner. I have undone your inappropriate addition for hopefully the final time. Stop. ES&L 15:31, 14 November 2013 (UTC)
Interesting to see how you find it disruptive when pinged but are okay with tagging article for deletion and not caring to reply back on AfD. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 15:45, 14 November 2013 (UTC)
  • I'm not sure what the pinging is about, but as you've been warned against it I suggest you find other means of communication. Why not simply explain your position in the discussion? Take care. Candleabracadabra (talk) 15:50, 14 November 2013 (UTC)
Well... I got the "warning" and have chosen not to communicate with him now. And BTW, is my position really unclear? §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 15:54, 14 November 2013 (UTC)
Yes, as was confirmed by the previous close. Candleabracadabra (talk) 16:04, 14 November 2013 (UTC)
How is it unclear? Just the way we don't count votes on AfDs i thought we don't look out for bolded keeps also. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 16:12, 14 November 2013 (UTC)

You were given a FINAL WARNING that using ECHO in that manner to ping individuals was inappropriate. I rightly removed it once, and warned you. You modified it and re-added it. You are being disruptive, and you have been advised as such - and now you're edit-warring about it. At what part do you stop before becoming blocked? ES&L 10:35, 15 November 2013 (UTC)

You have also been warned now to not refract my talk page comments. Your name is not mentioned in it anymore and other two editors have not bothered with that ping. So when will you stop being nosy? §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 10:59, 15 November 2013 (UTC)
The refactoring was done because your actions were in appropriate - as such, your "warning" is useless, and shows you seem to lack a clue about your behaviour, even though you were advised by more than one person. In fact, it's a petty tit-for-tat. You were told that using ECHO for that purpose was inappropriate. I removed it, and you ridiculously re-added disruptive material. Which part of "do not ever use ECHO for that purpose" did you not understand? You cannot warn me for removing your violation ES&L 11:06, 15 November 2013 (UTC)
You calling it inappropriate doesn't make it so. I say you editing my talk is inappropriate. Now don't return back and stop changing my edits on talk pages. You are changing my edits and giving wrong impression to others about me. That's a far more serious wrong you are doing. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 11:17, 15 November 2013 (UTC)
Here's an idea: you don't break the policy again ... and now the edit-warring policy too ... and I won't have to either a) post here again, or b) report you to WP:AN/3RR. It's a simple ideal: don't break the rules, you won't get called out for breaking the rules. Follow the rules, we'll get along just fine :-) ES&L 11:28, 15 November 2013 (UTC)
I, actually anyone, would not abide by your made-up things that you call "policy". §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 11:31, 15 November 2013 (UTC)
What, I made up the edit-warring policy now? Look, I know I'm an admin and all, but I don't think I made it it up ... I'm not even sure I've ever edited that specific policy - although there are many that I have been involved in ES&L 11:33, 15 November 2013 (UTC)
You are an admin? What makes you think that? Your rights log doesn't say so unless its hidden or uses synonym. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 11:53, 15 November 2013 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) Dharmadhyaksha, I think that the policy being referred to is probably WP:CANVASS. This new-ish ping/echo combination is ripe for problems in that area. - Sitush (talk) 11:37, 15 November 2013 (UTC)

It would be canvassing if i called uninvolved editors to the discussion by using ping and not the already involved ones who simply haven't replied back since long. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 11:53, 15 November 2013 (UTC)
I know, and that's why I think this is a storm in a teacup. Still, I've deliberately not pinged in AfDs to avoid such drama. BTW, ES&L is an admin (Bwilkins) - they're using an alternate account. - Sitush (talk) 12:20, 15 November 2013 (UTC)

ES&L, can you clarify again why you think Dharmadhyaksha original actions broke some policy? Here is how I see them:

  1. He added responses to earlier delete votes at this AFD and pinged the original nominator (ie you) and !voters to inform that there was something on the page they may want to review and respond to. This is perfectly acceptable use of the notification system, as would have been clear if he had used {{reply}} template in his original responses (or left a {{tb}} on the listed users talkpage) instead of making a separate post. You'll note that the other two users that were pinged did respond, with one of them changing their delete to keep.
  2. You responded here that you didn't want to be so pinged and that you as a personal policy "have little intent to return to" AFD pages for articles you nominate for deletion. FWIW, I think that is a poor policy to have, but it is your choice. All fine so far.
  3. After that both of you started acting silly: you by removing his earlier message with the {[t1|ping}} template (which AFAIK doesn't serve any purpose since the notifications were already sent out) and Dharmadhyaksha by re-adding it (which was worse, since it would add another notification for the other users, which obviously was not the desired effect)

So at this point I'd just request that both of you disengage from conduct listed in (3) above and move on from this pointy exchange. Cheers. Abecedare (talk) 12:28, 15 November 2013 (UTC)

@Royroydeb: About the video, you can upload that. But can't guarantee that it would be included in the article. Its quality would have to be looked. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 09:05, 15 November 2013 (UTC)

You mean this guy in hat from backside is Sachin? This is hardly useful photo, as he is not seen. Sports pics are anyways bad as they are taken from far off distance. Here the player is not even facing the camera, not even in a profile.

Karna Article

Hi there. I apologize for contacting you out of left field but just wanted to let you know I've been lurking on the Karna page and following the exchanges between you and PinkFloyd11. In case you just gave up on it fyi an admin Abecedare stepped in and reverted all of PinkFloyd11's changes. I don't have the time or interest to start editing this myself but I encourage you to keep participating and I can at least try and provide a neutral view on alternatives if that would be at all helpful. RedDog (talk) 17:11, 21 November 2013 (UTC)

Hi! Am aware of Abecedare's revert, who btw is not an admin, unless of course he too is using a different account. I will clean up the article if no one does it. But that’s after a while when some sensible editors are present there. Thanks for the encouragement. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 17:31, 21 November 2013 (UTC)
Yes, I too would encourage you to simply ignore the temporary editor-conflict issues, and simply help clean up the article now that it is receiving some attention. Abecedare (talk) 22:38, 21 November 2013 (UTC)

Tiresome, ain't it? And btw the other new editor I wrote long explanatory posts for is the author of stuff like this (do click on the 'look inside' and read the last few available paras), so I'm not so sure of that working out too well either. Abecedare (talk) 18:33, 22 November 2013 (UTC)

Tiresome it is. Am more afraid that after cutting all prose short, i would not be able to read much sources to fill up scholarly stuff in it. Trimming the actual story is fine with me. I might not even have access to many sources. Anyways.... you enjoy your new found treasure. "Only women think about breasts nowadays. Men are focused on work." Thanks for deprod and improved the Articles.

Here my question is that, You said If once removed PROD you can't Prod it again!

So here i'm just telling u that One User/IP was rmv PROD on Mohit Malhotra article without Explain or adding reliable source.

2nd: You said "such a bad choice for proding"! on Nandish Sandhu article, now tell me? How u say that PROD is not a good choice??'

AND one more thing, If the person article have no any one of reliable source, then possible that the article person is fake.

  • 2. While requesting deletion, via PROD or AFD, one has to check on many things. If at all you would have checked a few of those mentioned, you would have not in your senses asked for deletion. Sandhu had tremendous web references and a very good list of works.

Redirect of "List of companies in Noida and Greater Noida"

Hi Dharmadhyaksha, I am the editor who recently redirected "List of companies in Noida and Greater Noida" to "Noida". In my opinion the list is problematic for several reasons. Other than the fact that it is tagged as an orphan, it has zero references and fails the notability criteria. It has also become a target for spam links. Do you have any objections to a redirect to either "Noida" or "Greater Noida"? If you have any misgivings, I'd be happy to try to sort things out. Best regards, – Zntrip 18:43, 28 November 2013 (UTC)

@Zntrip: Hi! There seems to be many similar articles under Category:Lists of companies of the United States which don't have issues of being orphan or non-notable. Why is this list special then? About referencing, that can easily be added, isn't it? §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 03:24, 29 November 2013 (UTC)
Essentially, my problem is the scope of the list. Those other lists are of companies based in a particular location. In this one, most of the companies listed are foreign and the Indian companies include ones that are not headquartered in Noida. However, I would be willing to not redirect the article if the list is limited only to companies headquartered in Noida. – Zntrip 04:06, 29 November 2013 (UTC)
Noida is an industrial zone, essentially set up so that industries from abroad and within can be housed there. These companies make Noida what it is and hence a list of these all isn't an outright bad idea. Their origin hardly matters. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 04:12, 29 November 2013 (UTC)
That makes sense. I see your point now and I no longer think the article should be redirected. – Zntrip 04:56, 29 November 2013 (UTC)
Cool! §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 05:43, 29 November 2013 (UTC)
What about Gurgaon? Was that set up as a zone also? I know that there are ISZs in various places (starting to look like any large city). I worry about this type of list becoming little more than a directory unless there is some sort of criteria. Obviously, WP:NLIST is a start ...

I see that there is no List of companies based in Cambridge or List of companies based in Manchester - it seems that at least some of us have a bit of proprtion, WP:CLN aside. Or maybe it's just that the notable ones in Manchester all went bust during Thatcher's time and the ones in Cambridge are too high tech/innovative to be notable ;) Can we have List of lists of companies, for the obsessives? - Sitush (talk) 07:10, 29 November 2013 (UTC)

Well... Gurgaon wasn't setup as an industrial area, but eventually turned to be one. Noida was like clubbing of small villages together to form such zone. There were cries also of how govt took away land for inadequate compensations. There must be some fancy name also given to this scam and Indira and Rajiv Gandhi's ministers might also be named in them. In such case i think Noida gets its notability only of these companies and hence their article seems fine. Many a times i am of the opinion that editors call something non-notable just because its not presented well. make it a table, add the foundation year, add photographs and there will actually be editors considering to make it a FL. Now i dont know why British cities and their companies don't make up a list. American's very well do. Check List of tenants in One World Trade Center and its similarities. LuLu International Shopping Mall is the 2nd largest in India and there will be a day when on similar lines someone will start their tenants' list. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 08:31, 29 November 2013 (UTC)
Yes, the special name is probably "Land scam #[insert some digits here]"! I think the WTC list probably came about because of the connection to 9/11 - for obvious reasons, many businesses were very badly affected and such things can be linked through the list. If LuLu gets hit (please, I hope it doesn't) then the same might apply. However, lists that constantly shift around will not likely make FL because maintaining the standard of the things is nigh-on impossible ... and companies come and go at an alarming rate.

I'm not saying that no UK cities have a list - I think some poor soul has tried to do one for London, which has the added problem of how one defines "London"! I also don't have a problem with such lists existing but I do think that some sort of basic criteria should be established beyond that of WP:NLIST. For example, as Zntrip mentioned above, that a business is based there rather than just operating from the place. Or maybe I should start List of Wal-mart stores, including ones not actually called Wal-mart but operated by them. - Sitush (talk) 08:55, 29 November 2013 (UTC)

They surely come and go at a lesser alarming rate than CMs do. We have List of current Indian chief ministers as FL. Lists and categories are always gonna be disputable. There is never gonna be a hard line drawn to distinguish them. We might make Category:Companies with offices in Noida also to get rid of the list. Within the article of Noida, i hope, you wouldn't mind mentioning the names of the companies which are present there, even if the owners are foreigners. That's because they make the city, provide employment, help in other social stuff and what not. If the names can not be excluded from the article's prose, why should a forked list be deleted? And why should only the headquarters be listed? §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 10:36, 29 November 2013 (UTC)
Businesses as entities may come and go less frequently but in terms of their location I suspect it is often different, and these lists are based on location. I'm not all that mithered - I'm only watching the one because having to weed out spam and puffery is soul-destroying stuff and is all too common. If I want to find a company then I use Google, which is far more reliable than any single Wikipedia list of this type, but if other people are happy to look at a load of crap then I guess that is their choice. I certainly wouldn't propose deleting the things but tightening up what qualifies might be useful, even if only making it abundantly clear what geographic limitations apply - to take the London example, there is City of London (a very small area), London and Greater London. The latter two are not even well-defined by, say, postcode or telephone number.

Hey, here's something that might make you chuckle. India's Mars probe is costing UKP45 million; the UK is proposing to spend UKP50 billion getting people from London to Birmingham. - Sitush (talk) 11:42, 29 November 2013 (UTC)

Hehe! We should include that in the mars probe article. Compare it will all such unrelated stuff. I can't find that link anywhere now, but when Sachin Tendulkar retired there was lotsa such crap in news; like how many PMs have changed in his career duration, what were the prices of onions then and now, etc. etc. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 03:37, 2 December 2013 (UTC)

Well, the price of onions is a major issue, isn't it? I bet people can find a way to connect it to just about anything in the certain knowledge that it affects just about everyone and just about no-one is happy about it. What is the cause of it, though? The last figure I saw was a rise of 270-something per cent in six months or something like that. Is it speculation, poor harvests or what? Do we have an article yet, perhaps 2012 onion scam: the year that India cried? - Sitush (talk) 07:01, 2 December 2013 (UTC)
Poor harvest is the reason i guess. Also just something similar to Trial by media. Or maybe someone spread rumour that onions are getting extinct and that raised the demand. That dumb thing happened with salt. Our family can actually live without onions; we do for Chaturmas. Many ppl do that. Jains do it all 12 months. Separate article not required. Maybe Inflation in India could be socialized more rather than its current financial-analysis tone. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 10:11, 2 December 2013 (UTC)

Image check

This picture looks a bit funky (looks like some sort of layering), I'm unable to find a reasonable source. Can you check it out? I'm just catching up with talk page archives, will respond soon on the BH fiasco. —SpacemanSpiff 12:52, 7 December 2013 (UTC)

@SpacemanSpiff: Strange pics they are; all of those the user has uploaded. I can't find copies elsewhere. But to me they look like they are photographs of TV screen. The recent LED/LCD TVs don't do it, i guess. But if you clicked a photograph of the screen of the old fashioned CRT TVs, you might get something that has such colour changes. Also, as the screen is not flat, the images look like they are taken in curved mirrors. Could be taken for deletion. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 17:03, 8 December 2013 (UTC)

Clarification requested

Regarding this image.

According to the Indian Copyright Act of 1957, if a person is hired and paid to click a photograph, that image is the property of the person who pays for it. Is that correct? Quoting the provision in the act - "in the case of a photograph taken, or a painting or portrait drawn, or an engraving or a cinematograph film made, for valuable consideration at the instance of any person, such person shall, in the absence of any agreement to the contrary, be the first owner of the copyright therein"

Mr Shivam has also written an email to me verifying his ownership of the image, and he has also released the image with a CC BY 2.0 license on his Flickr stream. Can this image be used on Commons, or does it have to be deleted? Your suggestion would be very helpful. Thanks Anir1uph | talk | contrib 14:52, 8 December 2013 (UTC)

Unappropriate deletion discussion of Bappi Lahiri

You should have given some more time before closing that debate very early .If I am new to wikipedia that doesn't mean that i am not aware of wikipedia rules and policies. I was not saying that is Bappi Lahiri a notable topic or not. I was saying that this article lacks sufficient citations and it had not been written properly. The wikipedia administrators and old editors should help the new editors instead of blaming them for creating nuisance for others. I, am sorry but that is not the spirit of Wikipedia.--Param Mudgal (talk) 07:44, 12 December 2013 (UTC)

What would you have achieved with more time? It wasn't gonna help the article in any way. The real spirit or whatever of Wikipedia would be to mend the article if you see problems in it and not get it deleted completely. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 08:13, 12 December 2013 (UTC)
  • The article was speedy kept, please check AFD guidelines before nominating any other article for deletion. --TitoDutta 14:12, 12 December 2013 (UTC)

I know the guidelines for deletion and i would mend the article if there are problems in one section of the article , not the whole article. And if more time was given more editors could give their views and decision should not be taken by the consent of 2-3 editors and new editors should be helped by old editors instead of criticizing and blaming them for creating nuisance for others.--Param Mudgal (talk) 10:59, 13 December 2013 (UTC)

"I was not saying that is Bappi Lahiri a notable topic or not" – When you yourself feel that it's notable then why did you take the article to Afd. If you feel it lacks citations, needs copy-edit, etc., you can tag the article but not simply tag them for deletion. Vensatry (Ping me) 08:35, 15 December 2013 (UTC)

@Vensatry: The permissions seem okay. Whats your exact doubt? §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 10:08, 15 December 2013 (UTC)
In the past I've come across several images (from the site) of HR present elsewhere in many other websites, at an earlier upload date. I don't think they own the rights of all the images as they claim in their site. See this image for eg., grabbed from here. I can quote some more files. Vensatry (Ping me) 11:51, 15 December 2013 (UTC)
Well... they claim that they are the copyrights owners of those 7-8 files. And they claim only those, unlike how BH claims all parties' images. So if you have doubts, you may open a common DR for all those images. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 18:00, 15 December 2013 (UTC)

(edit conflict)The easier way with lesser documentation is to remove them from articles. Unused images with rationale get deleted after a certain time.
