The 2016–17 Liga Americana was the inaugural edition of Liga Americana, the biennal international association football competition involving the men's national teams of the 10 member associations of CONMEBOL. The competition, which was held from September 2016 to June 2017, was won by Brazil, who succeeded in 7 of the 9 matches played—with 23 points in total. The podium was completed by Peru (15 points) and Chile (13 points), who obtained the silver and the bronze medals respectively.

As winners, Brazil secured the right to compete at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia (competition to which actually they already qualified via the round robin).
