Ever wondered what goes on behind those lengthy paragraphs of an actor's Wikipedia page or how Wikipedia rose in notability throughout the 2000s? Come join us at the Auckland Museum for an exciting in-person event to learn about this and more!

The Wikipedia Editathon: Trailblazers of Tāmaki Makaurau is all about celebrating the trailblazers who have shaped our vibrant city while also encouraging young people to engage with Wikipedia and enhance the Auckland local histories content page on Wikipedia. We invite you to join us in improving existing articles or creating new articles on trailblazers who contribute to the prosperity of Auckland's community and culture. Whether you're a seasoned editor or a newbie, everyone is welcome! You don't need to be an expert in Wikipedia or in history but come open-minded and willing to learn. Please note that there is also a maximum capacity of 25.

On the day, you'll be working together with Wikipedians to share knowledge with one another, challenge cultural biases online and make a lasting contribution to Wikipedia. The event will include training in wiki editing and experienced Wikipedians will be on hand to help you throughout your time there. Please do not bring any food or snacks with you as catered food and refreshments will be provided on the day. As well as that, please bring your own laptop to this event as devices are not provided.

Due to Wikipedia guidelines, we request you make a Wikipedia account before the event. You may not be able to create one on the day. Make sure to not use any offensive language or personal details in your username as it is public on Wikipedia but have fun with it!

We are committed to providing a welcoming experience for everyone, regardless of age, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, disability, appearance, race or religion. Don't miss out on this unique opportunity to upskill your CV with some new tech savvy abilities and connect with fellow Tāmaki Makaurau locals. See you there!
