Comment on the WikiProject X proposal

Hello there! As you may already know, most WikiProjects here on Wikipedia struggle to stay active after they've been founded. I believe there is a lot of potential for WikiProjects to facilitate collaboration across subject areas, so I have submitted a grant proposal with the Wikimedia Foundation for the "WikiProject X" project. WikiProject X will study what makes WikiProjects succeed in retaining editors and then design a prototype WikiProject system that will recruit contributors to WikiProjects and help them run effectively. Compiling a worldwide list of D-SIBs

Recently I have contributed a lot to expand the List of systemically important banks. It now evolved into being more of an article, featuring both a G-SIB list and a chapter with D-SIB lists. To say it short, the structure is in place, but it takes a lot of time to find and report the D-SIB lists for each nation in the world (as no single published source exist with overall info for all states). So I need as much of your help as possible - to succeed doing this for each nation. From a starting point, the priority is to compile complete info for USA, 31 EEA states, Switzerland, Japan and China. My ambition is, that this work shall be completed during the next year. So far I have updated the table with complete current info for Denmark + Sweden + Norway + Switzerland, but have not got any time left to continue the work during the next 3 months. So you are more than welcome to help me fill in the remaining empty spots.

You can find the missing D-SIB info for each nation, by visiting the official website of its Financial Supervisory Authority. The new European D-SIB regulation, demand that each EEA-member state shall have identified their D-SIB list and associated info about new total capital ratio requirements - at the latest on 31 December 2015. So this mean, that some EEA member states (like UK), haven't yet completed their identification of D-SIBs. However, approximately 50% of the EEA-member states have already identified their D-SIBs, and hence it make sense to start compiling the lists already now. In regards of the already featured D-SIB list for USA, it shall be noted the data is outdated (based on financial data from 2011), so here we need someone to update it - and also note how big the capital requirements are. The list of circulating currencies now sorts properly when sorted by name of currency. Previously, e.g., "Thai baht" sorted under T; now it sorts under B. See the Talk page there under Sorting the table by "Currency".

Help with AIFMD?

Hi everyone, I'm looking for some help improving the Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive article and hoping that someone at WikiProject Finance might be interested. The current article is missing details, there is some confusing wording and generally there's a lack of sources, so I'm making some suggestions to fix these issues.

As I am working on behalf of the Managed Funds Association and have a financial conflict of interest, I won't make any direct edits. Instead, I've proposed the corrections and updates on the Talk page here. If an editor who's active here and interested in international finance is able to review and make the changes as they feel are appropriate, I would really appreciate it. The "usury" article needs help putting links to other articles

I was surprised there is not more interlinking with other articles on the topic of the 2008 financial crisis, how money is created, quantitive easing, buffers that banks need to have in relation to the loans they can write out, how consumers and society is protected from irresponsible behaviour from bankers.

@SvenAERTS: Very interesting question: I wasn't aware of that research. Do you propose to create an article about ProPublica's scorecard, or do you want Wikipedia to make its own scorecard?

The long table in the Participants section of the Troubled Asset Relief Program article looks like a kind of scorecard. (I noticed that 2009 ProPublica research is used as a source for the long table. Does that need updating?)

Actual symbols for Kyrgyz and Kazakh currency?

In List of circulating currencies, the symbol for both the Kyrgyzstan som (Cyrillic: сом) and the Kazakhstan tenge (теңге) is given as лв, the same as the symbol for the Bulgarian lev. These seem highly unlikely, as neither л nor в appears in either of the K*stan currencies' names.

I have written this up on Talk:List of circulating currencies, and asked for comments there on the Wikiproject talk pages for Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Central Asia, but all three of those projects are dormant. New book on finance in the U.S.

This book looks relevant to alternative financial services, poverty industry, payday loan etc: How the Other Half Banks: Exclusion, Exploitation, and the Threat to Democracy by Mehrsa Baradaran, 2015, Harvard University Press. Per the Chronicle weekly booklist it "Traces the emergence of a two-tier system of banking in the United States in which a large portion of the population is forced to rely on pay-day lenders and check-cashing services." Correct name of a job

Could anyone help me with correct naming of a bank job? I have to translate it from Russian (my native language), but dictionaries are totally messy about it. It is a lady, who is just one step above a teller and perform following things:

• issuing money orders;
• registering money orders in the cash journal;
• signing entries in the cash book;
• checking documents she recieves from a teller;
• cross-cheking of the cash book and cashier's paper's.

She's required to be qualified as a bookkeeper. In some russian organizations she directly deals with corporate clients recieving cash from them and cheking and signing relevant documents. Literal translation from Russian is: "bookkeeper-controller" (although she is, apparently, well below a controller in western organizations) or "bookkeeper-checker (cheking-bookkeeper)". I understand allmost nothing in banking, finance and bookkeeping, but I tried to describe the subjet as close to the sources, as I can. Эйхер (talk) 14:51, 9 January 2016 (UTC)

Perhaps You are right, Mr Baker. On the other hand, what I have googled, suggests quite a broad range of jobs for the term "platform associate/representative", not necesserally associated with accounting/bookkeeping. Wouldn't an accounting associate fit better? Here I must note, that I've probably got it wrong that the lady in question masters tellers. Rather her job is to check out tellers' work ensuring that nothing is screwd-up, and to file necessary papers in the end of the banking day for accounting purposes. She's not expected to draw clients or to promote the bank's services - she's just the lowest link in the bank's accounting chain. Эйхер (talk) 18:40, 12 January 2016 (UTC)

Reliable sources?

Is Motley Fool a reliable source? I ask re: its use in the article on judge Robert Gerber -- note that the source is apparently MF's discussion fora, which make my eyes glaze over. Similarly, is the BankruptcyLawReview thing reliable? Thanks in advance. DS (talk) 18:53, 23 January 2016 (UTC)

These particular sources are blog posts, so not the most reliable sources. (Bankruptcy Law Review also publishes edited articles that should be reliable.) However, the information in the article is badly out of date. Judge Gerber retired at the end of 2014, continuing to act as a recall judge in 2015 and handle the Lyondell case. Mortgage terminology

Greetings, I believe there is need for a correction re: the description of the terms of the entities involved in a home mortgage. I believe the lender is the mortgagee (giving the debt/loan) and the borrower is the mortgagor (obtaining debt/loan) compared to the article's (misspelled) reverse referencing. Binary options

Binary options could use more attention. The binary options industry is in turmoil right now. The Times of Israel just ran a multi-part expose, "The wolves of Tel Aviv: Israel’s vast, amoral binary options scam exposed"[1]. They report that the whole industry is crooked. Most of the "brokers" are actually bucket shops; they claim to be brokers, but they're really the counterparty, or "house". Worse, "at some binary options firms, the online platform is manipulated to provide false results that ensure the customer loses." The Times of Israel even interviewed a programmer who worked on the "backdoor" for that.

IN 2014, we had the Banc De Binary fiasco on Wikipedia, where that company had offered $10,000 to anyone who could get their version into Wikipedia, and not mention their problems with the SEC and CFTC.Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/IncidentArchive844#Banc_de_Binary.2C_Round_2. That ended with all BdB accounts blocked.

But, as it turns out, BdB wasn't the only one. There are more of these scam companies, many more. They may be connected; about half use the Spotoption platform. Since the Times of Israel expose, Israel's financial regulator is shutting down the binary option industry with respect to sales to Israelis. The US hauled two more outfits into court this week. There are crackdowns from Canada to Malta underway. An upcoming lawsuit in the UK names 120 firms.

The Times of Israel article indicates that these companies engage in heavy search engine optimization activity to make binary options look legitimate. We need to watch for this spilling over into Wikipedia.

What qualifies as a stock market crash?

User:Smallbones and I have been in a debate on whether the 2016 Brexit stock market crash deserves to be listed at List of stock market crashes and bear markets over on its talk page at Talk:List of stock market crashes and bear markets. I felt that several instances of major media entities declaring it a crash and the fact that we have had the biggest worldwide one-day and two-day losses of stock market value of the equivalents of 2 trillion USD and 3 trillion USD would make this a crash. User:Smallbones thinks that a crash must cause a drop in 10% to 20% of an index to be a stock market crash. Is this a stock market crash or just a short term bear market? Short selling needs more eyes

There's an anon which keeps adding a rambling religious condemnation of short selling to the article and there don't appear to be any editors watching the article to remove it. I had to remove it just now after it had been up there for several days. Help with Pension Protection Fund (PPF)

Hello. I've published this request on the Pension_Protection_Fund talk page, haven't had a response yet, and wondered if I could rely on the help from WikiProject Finance.

I work for a PR agency called Lansons, working on behalf of one of our clients the Pension Protection Fund (PPF). We’ve reviewed the PPF’s Wikipedia page and have spotted a number of factual inaccuracies that we would like to suggest changes for. We have references for them.

We're engaging as a member of the Wikipedia community having signed the official agency/Wikipedia agreement set out here Wikipedia:Statement_on_Wikipedia_from_participating_communications_firms. This means we adhere to the guidelines, most importantly understanding we have a conflict of interest, meaning we let members of the Wikipedia community decide (or not decide) to make changes for us. Would somebody without COI be able to work with us please to make changes?

The first change we would like to suggest is the Chairman of the Pension Protection Fund is changed to Arnold Wagner, who has replaced Lady Barbara Judge. You can find a third-party reference for this announcement here [4]

We would also suggest changing the word ‘pensioners’ in the first sentence to ‘members’ as the PPF doesn’t just protect people who have already retired, but protects 11 million people who belong to defined benefit pension schemes. Almost half of its 225,000 members are ‘deferred’ members who have not yet retired. We would suggest referencing this Government source [5] for the change.

… Come on, Zigzig20s. Don't try to suggest that Roy did anything wrong here. The AfD was closed 16 days after the nomination despite not having been relisted. You can't complain that it was closed too early. If having notification placed here were as essential as you seem to be implying, then you were derelict in not having done so in the weeks previous. And I imagine that many (or most?) editors interested in finance-related AfDs keep an eye on Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Businesspeople anyway. Lastly, don't take "numerically […] very close" out of context. It was a phrase used in the context of a closing statement that said there was a clear consensus for deletion given the lack of reasonable arguments for the article to be kept. FTSE MIB

How often do the components of FTSE MIB change? Is it frequent enough to make the article unmaintainable? I just declined the speedy deletion A7 request of ANIMA (Anima Holdings) on the grounds that membership of FTSE MIB was a credible claim of importance, but after seeing that the [Borsa Italiana site does not list it as a components, I deleted the article anyway as promotion. If the list changes frequently, it is not really suitable for inclusion on Wikipedia (I mean just the list, not the article itself). It would be better to just provide an external link where the reader can find the up to date information. SpinningSpark 15:34, 26 November 2016 (UTC)

Private Equity Real Estate

This article contains a number of inaccuracies and mistaatements.

Private equity real estate is NOT the same as institutional real estate.

Institutional real estate pertains to the ownership of the asset -- i.e., when the asset is owned by a professional manager for the benefit of an institutional investor (pension fund, foundation, endowment, sovereign wealth fund, insurance company, bank holding company, real estate investment trust, etc.) Institutional real estate assets are managed by third parties for the benefit of others, vs. indnividual investing, where a single individual investor owns the asset. The term "institutional' has nothing to do with the type of real estate in which the institution is investing.

In fact, private equity real estate obviously can be held by both individuals or institutions. There's nothing specifically "institutional" about private equity real estate.

More specifically, private equity real estate is only one of the four quadrants of the real estate capital markets (private equity, public equity, private debt and public debt).

Private equity real estate refers to investing in real estate assets privately. Typically, this is done either through a fee simple interest or via some kind of holding company or entity that holds the fee simple title. It also includes derivative types of investments, such as investments in ground leases, air rights and other land holding rights associated with and sometimes stripped out of fee simple interests. Investors often will invest in a portfolio of assets through some kind of fund structure. Fund structures vary, from LLCs, Limited Partnerships, Private REITs, Collective Investment Trusts, Group Trusts, Insurance Company Separate Accounts, and several others. Investments can be made in pooled fund vehicles or in the securities of real estate operating companies, or venture capital operating companies.

The article suggests that debt funds are part of private equity real estate. Nonsense. Debt funds are part of the private debt real estate quadrant.

Public equity refers to investing in the traded equity securities of public companies that hold real estate assets, such as real estate investment trusts and publicly traded real estate operating companies.

Private debt refers to investing in whole loan commercial or residential mortgages, or partiipations in single or non-securitized or private securities of portfolios of whole loan commercial or residential mortgages. Investors also sometimes invest in the private (non-traded, non-listed) debt secruities isssued by both private and public real estate operating companies.

Public debt real estate refers to investing in securitized debt interests, including residential mortrgage backed securities, commercial mortgage backed secruities, and debt (bond) issuance from public or private real estate operating companies.

Some Institutional investors invest in all four quadrants, some only in private equity, some in two or three quadrants.

Furthermore, institutional investors invest in a host of different formats, not just closed-end funds. These include open-end funds, closed-end funds, individually managed (separate accounts), direct joint ventures, and club deals (organized by the investors rather than the investment manager, but sometimes organized by the investment manager).

The article also suggests that the term "institutional real estate" has been replaced by "private equity real estate." This simply is not true, for the reasons explained above.

Seeking some feedback

I have been making some changes and additions to Authorize.Net. It was not part of any WikiProjects, and I just added this one. Project merger

I have become aware, as a member, that this project is becoming increasingly more inactive. I recently revived the WikiProject Investment and it has been growing.

So I would like to propose a merger of these two projects.It would benefit the general coverage of finance and investment on Wikipeda ´, as both of these topics have much in common.

Please let me know of what your opinion on this is.

@Figureofnine: The two topics have a lot in common.Merging the project can definietly make "attracting" new members easier as more interests and a larger scope are/is represented.Currently the projects are neglected from a lack of active members and as one combined project it could have a bigger opportunity in becoming successful in improving Wikipedia.

I support a merger. Investments is arguably a subset of Finance anyway, and in any case, there is clearly substantial overlap in subject matter. A proposal to review crypto-currency articles in a more organized way

It has been my impression that WikiProject_Medicine is fully aware of the potential harm that could occur if there were errors in the articles within their remit— potentially far more serious than if say some random biography contained an error. While economic and investment articles are not the same league as the literally life-and-death issues in medical articles, the potential harm in mistaken articles is considerable. We know that there are many editors, often SPA's, more interested in making sure that an article about some crypto currency reads favorably, than making sure it is a neutral unbiased encyclopedia article. A recent post on Jimbo's talk page User_talk:Jimbo_Wales#Bitcoin,_Tulips,_Facebook,_ICOs,_binary_options,_and_Slash_Gear identified the problem. While I'm not fully on board with the implicit solutions, I do agree with Jimbo's observation that perhaps a wiki project should take on the task of more formally reviewing the relevant articles and ensuring that they meet our standards.

While I haven't been active in this wiki project. I do have decades of experience in finance and have frankly not worked on finance articles mean because it seemed more like work than fun, but the sounds like something that deserves more attention. List of banks (alphabetically)

Up until early January 2019 the article List of banks (alphabetically) was described as List of all banks, but then many banks starting with V were deleted and a few days later the article's description was changed by the same editor to List of notable banks. Because Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information, list articles such as these are limited to notable entries only. The relevant guideline is at WP:CSC: "Every entry meets the notability criteria for its own non-redirect article in the English Wikipedia. Red-linked entries are acceptable if the entry is verifiably a member of the listed group, and it is reasonable to expect an article could be forthcoming in the future. This standard prevents Wikipedia from becoming an indiscriminate list, and prevents individual lists from being too large to be useful to readers." Categorisation

Could some helpful person explain the difference between Category:Investment companies and Category:Investment management companies? I am a humble categoriser and I presumed that one would be a subcategory of the other. There is an article about Investment company, though it seems to be entirely about the USA and isnt very illuminating, and one about Investment management, but it doesnt really help me. • Thank you. I'm afraid the more I read the more confused I get. Especially as I find more associated categories, like Category:Asset management. The general rule is that a category should have an article to anchor it, which explains the definition, among other things. We dont really seem to have that here, and I'm not very sure it would help, as it appears that the terms used are pretty flexible, and indeed that the organisations change over time and space. I'd like advice about whether the distinction between Category:Investment companies and Category:Investment management companies is helpful. My inclination is to combine them into one category, because, apart from any other consideration, apart from the UK and the USA, there are not sufficient articles to justify more than one category in a country. Yes, that should be the answer. But in practice, the use of these categories seems to be hopelessly confused. It doesn't help that the anchor articles don't make sense. It also doesn't help that "investment company" is itself a vague term. It can mean either a company for the purpose of investment, without further specificity, or a company that is subject to regulation in the United States under the Investment Company Act of 1940, which seems overspecific. The latter clearly doesn't work, because the category includes non-U.S. funds and because U.S. investment companies (in the 1940 Act sense) tend to be in other categories, such as Category:Mutual funds of the United States. Investment fund might be a better anchor article. But then you get to the consideration that, in actuality, there are very few investment companies/investment funds that are notable enough to have a Wikipedia article. It looks like most of the companies in either category are actually investment managers. OANDA

Apparently OANDA was AFD'd almost three years ago. They are widely used in cites and as a data source on enwiki (and likely other wikis) and their analysts are quoted virtually daily by top-tier news sources, including CNBC, Reuters, Bloomberg, and the BBC. I'm sure anyone with financial markets experience would find them "notable". Don't get me wrong – I'm definitely familiar with notability policy and constantly defend the wiki against commercial promotion. If someone keen on article creation is interested in finding the appropriate sources, I would think they have to be out there (sorry it's not my thing, and I do hate to ask others). Dispute at Negative number

This article includes a list of examples that I'm not too keen on generally, but one uncited example under the heading "Finance" said that credit and debit card statements show refunds as "negative debits." I removed this because "negative debits" are nonexistent in accounting, and as far as I know finance more generally. Debits are reversed by credits and nothing else. A debit of 10 is not reversed by a debit of -10 or a credit of -10, but by a credit of 10 (though a credit can have a minus sign before or after the number to show that it is a credit). I provided a source (a textbook) that says this very specifically. The removal was disputed on the talk page by editors who say that it was accurate as written and references to accounting are irrelevant. After back-and-forth, I tried rewriting the example and neighboring examples with more precise language instead of removing them. This was also reverted and I was told that I can't change it at all without consensus, but I don't see much chance of that if there isn't even agreement about what the subject is.

2020 oil war

The 2020 Russia–Saudi Arabia oil price war is currently rated low-importance, but with oil prices falling below zero (producers paying people to take their oil), this seems to be of more import? Especially since it is an oil industry crash for regions with hard access oil (oil shale, oil sand, etc). And regional economic crashes for producers of higher priced production oil. Robert Rubin and the 1993 Deficit Reduction Act

The current article about former U.S. Treasury Secretary Robert Rubin currently contains no mention of his role in promoting the 1993 Deficit Reduction Act. Stock Exchange Lists

A lot of Stock Exchange lists (by region) include a column for number of listings, but they're mostly empty. List of stock exchanges in the Americas for example, has dozens of entries, but only 1 cell filled in for Listings! List of stock exchanges in Oceania has none, List of Asian stock exchanges has a smattering. List of African stock exchanges looked pretty good until I started examining the pages- I picked Camaroon's Douala Stock Exchange on a whim and the exchange doesn't even exist anymore! The number of actively trading public companies by country is good info, but it's changing too fast and sorely neglected on these list pages. The List of stock exchanges, which covers the most active markets in the world, doesn't even have such a column.

Is there a way to automate any of this? Or could the 'Listings' column just be removed? Advice(s) much appreciated Estheim (talk) 16:02, 20 November 2020 (UTC)

The tone is a bit promotional and the company seems a bit on the new/small side and the references seem a bit on the "routine" side or they are a reflection of the company's own marketing efforts (e.g. the NASCAR sponsorship).

I'm asking of companies like this one - in terms of size, product/service offerings, and age - are routinely considered "likely to have reliable sources, if only someone would look" (every Fortune 50 company would fall in this category), if they are in the category of "huh? This better have some darn good sourcing" (your mom-and-pop company would fall in this category), or if they are in between.

@Davidwr: Thanks for the feedback. The genesis behind the page in the first place was based on other Neobanks listed on this page who are very similar in notability. There is a page for the NASCAR sponsorship but no page for the company sponsoring it. Albeit that the genesis of the sponsorship is derived from them. Understand the page is somewhat limited. Was hoping to get something in place and allow others to review / provide more substance. Perhaps in due course we will get feedback from more editors. Hi all - I've been working on the article for Hemant Taneja, a healthtech entrepreneur and GP at General Catalyst. The article has been nominated for deletion at Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Hemant_Taneja_(2nd_nomination), but not many editors have weighed in, despite the discussion being live for more than a week.

Would anyone here be willing to take a look at the discussion and weigh in, especially on questions of notability/WP:BLP? We haven't had many contributors to the discussion on either side, and I'd welcome input (or even just suggestions on how to improve the article) from folks that are more experienced with this space.

Ceaușescu's debt shenanigans: the uncertain conclusion

I'm in a situation that bugs me, a lot. Sources say that he made Romania debt-free. Then other sources say that Romania in 1989 had virtually (key word here) zero debt. This intrigued me, so I proceeded to look for hard numbers. Well, the 1990 CIA World Factbook lists Romania's debt as "none" as of mid-1989 (source 1). But then I find another source which breaks down all Soviet bloc external debts and...it ain't 0, not really. It's 0.4 billion as of 1989. What is zero in this source is the debt to the big bodies (IMF, World Bank) (source 2). Initially I thought that the Factbook overlooked this as too small, hence listing it as "none". But that can't be right, for the 1991 edition lists Romania's debt as of mid-1990 as...precisely 400 million, what the other source lists as the 1989 debt (source 3). I think of two possibilities: either the Factbook says "external debt" but actually means "public debt" (ie the state's debt, not including its individual citizens, but then again this was a totalitarian Communist state), or Romania somehow borrowed $400 million in the last days of 1989 after Ceaușescu was overthrown. Can anyone please help me make sense of all this? Is the debt 0 or 0.4 billion? Cause I want to write a comprehensive paragraph about the end result of his austerity policy, and I want to make sure I get it right. Transylvania1916 (talk) 17:57, 14 May 2021 (UTC)

Hi Transylvania1916. Frankly, I think the sources are kinda sub-par to deal with a subject like this. What you would need is some good scholarly source about the economics of Romania or the economic history of Romania. I have found something, which says that in 1990 Romanian public debt was basically 0. I have just typed "Romania public debt" on Google but I am sure there is more somewhere. Transylvania1916, it look to me like this source talks about external debt and not public debt. However, I did a little research and here are a few sources that confirm that Romania paid back its government debt in 1989 [6][7][8][9]. JBchrch talk 22:22, 28 May 2021 (UTC)

JBchrch I apologize for the long-delayed answer. I did some research, and resolved the issue. See, Ceausescu didn't seem to care much for internal debt. Thus, in terms of public debt, Romania was still not even in the global top 10 lowest as of 1989, in spite of its 0 external debt. Yet, it shot to 1st place in 1990. Hi! I've often found finance and investment articles to be incomplete, failing to meet WP policies and guidelines, or in need of attention. I've often found in other WikiProjects that I participate in that having co-ordinators can help guide efforts to improve this, so I was wondering if there was interest in setting up some group of editors to co-ordinate the WikiProject for a temporary period of 6 months and see if this is beneficial to it. BuzzWeiser196 and JBchrch: it's been suggested to me that maybe the most sensible option would be to make WP:FINANCE a WP:ECONOMICS task-force. What are y'all's thoughts on this? I think that makes more sense seeing how low the activity is in this area as well as the overlap between both projects. Of course, if y'all agree to this I'd have to start a discussion in the WP:ECONOMICS talk page and see what their thoughts are, but I like the idea. A. C. Thanks for the ping. In general, finance as a whole is not considered to be a sub-field of economics. Of course, there are substantial overlaps between the two disciplines, including financial economics and monetary policy. But a very large part of the writing about (and teaching of) finance is done in business schools. Masters of Finance degrees are typically awarded by business schools. The overwhelming majority of bank and private equity CEOs don't have a formal education in economics. JBchrch talk 23:44, 29 January 2022 (UTC)

I think if we get some initiative going, establish some clearer order to the project, and perhaps create a more beginner-friendly list of tasks we might be able to increase the number of editors. Layout update

Hi! I thought an easy start would be to improve the layout of the WikiProject page to improve navigability. I'll be working on that for the next few weeks, and probably base myself off WP:MILHIST, WP:GOCE, and WP:LGBT due to my personal appreciation of their design. I'm brainstorming things like content drives and stuff for later (e.g. a month long stock market drive, or collaborating with WP:ECONOMICS on a month long debt drive) that could help attract contributions, but I'm still working out some kinks and researching other projects' drives before I propose anything here. BuzzWeiser196, my personal opinion is that all areas need improvement. I proposed the stock market as that is an area that many are interested in, new editors or those that aren't experts in finance could help with (e.g. history of Amsterdam Stock Exchange), and covers a wide range of articles. I take inspiration from contests like WP:Atdrag, where a general focus on a topic area is encouraged. My perspective is that content contests rather than cleanup drives may attract the most new editors (what this project needs), although it is possible we could have something like GAN Backlog drives and tackle the list of Finance stub articles. I've done a bit more work with the layout, I think a very serious issue was that there were 3 or 4 different pages where assessment requests, edit requests, open tasks, and other feedback requests were listed but none of these pages were really all that visible (even the list on the main page was at the bottom).
