June 2020

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Tropical Storm Cristobal (2020). This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. πŸ” Chicdat ChickenDatabase 13:54, 4 June 2020 (UTC)

@Chicdat: Can you please delete the draft article? Thanks, Destroyeraa (talk) 13:56, 4 June 2020 (UTC)
No. I'm not an admin. πŸ” Chicdat ChickenDatabase 16:14, 4 June 2020 (UTC)
@Chicdat:Hurricanehink deleted the redirect, I believe. He moved the draft to the main article space. Thanks anyway for your help. I kinda got a bit impatient and wanted the draft to become an article so badly that I disregarded Wikipedia rules. Sorry. Destroyeraa (talk) 17:00, 4 June 2020 (UTC)

Editing and such

Hi there Destroyeraa, I've seen your edits lately, and I can tell you have a passion for tropical cyclones. I was wondering if you needed any help with editing, learning the ropes, how to make a good article, anything like that. Hopefully you're having fun editingΒ :) Yea, there are a lot of rules, but you'll get the hang of things eventually (if you haven't already!) β™« Hurricanehink (talk) 13:35, 5 June 2020 (UTC)

@Hurricanehink: Thanks. Yes, I have fun editing, and time editing, especially during this pandemic. I appreciate your offer to help newish editors like me. If I have anything to ask you about, I will post it on your talk page. Destroyeraa 01:44, 6 June 2020 (UTC)
Yea, I've noticed a lot more editors these days! We can always use the help organizing all of the info about TCs. β™« Hurricanehink (talk) 13:42, 6 June 2020 (UTC)
Thanks for the barnstar! I was curious, what aspect of tropical cyclones are you interested in? Any particular basin or time period? β™« Hurricanehink (talk) 15:05, 6 June 2020 (UTC)
I'm interested in mainly Atlantic tropical cyclones, since I, like you, live on the Eastern coast of the United States. Destroyeraa 18:03, 6 June 2020 (UTC)
Good thing the Atlantic has over 800 articles. There are tons of older storms that need work, and a handful in the past few years. Are you interested in improving articles to good article status? That's the goal for most articles, covering the important details of the storm and writing it out well. β™« Hurricanehink (talk) 19:39, 6 June 2020 (UTC)
@Hurricanehink:Sure, which articles are stubs or starts and need improving? Can you post some links on my talk page? Destroyeraa 19:48, 6 June 2020 (UTC)

Tagging of Draft:Tropical Depression One-E (2020)

I recently removed a speedy delete tag that you had placed on Draft:Tropical Depression One-E (2020). I do not think that Draft:Tropical Depression One-E (2020) fits any of the speedy deletion criteriaΒ  because This seems to be a reasonable initial edit towards a possibly valid article , which is what drafts are for. If you wish, you may try using the simple proposed deletion (PROD) process, or the full articles for deletion (AfD) process, instead. DES (talk)DESiegel Contribs 16:43, 28 June 2020 (UTC)

@DESiegel: The subject of the article is not notable as per WP:NOTABLE. The article needs to be deleted. Destroyeraa (talk) 17:04, 28 June 2020 (UTC)
Lack of notability is not a valid ground for deletion of a draft, nor for the speedy deletion of any page. Please read or re-read Wikipedia:Deletion policy and Wikipedia:Drafts, particularly Wikipedia:Drafts#Deleting_a_draft which says: Drafts are not subject to article deletion criteria like "no context" or no indication of notability so creators may have time to establish notability and make other improvements. Drafts may be nominated for deletion at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion (MfD), but not solely because the draft fails to show that the notability guidelines are satisfied. This draft was recently started, allow the editor to work on it, and attempt to demonstrate notability. It may not be possible -- the topic may in fact not be notable. But there is no reason to delete at this point, and tagging for speedy deletion in such a case violates WP:BITE in my view. This was certainly not a "test edit" and the speedy deletion criteria are to be construed quite strictly. That policy page says: Administrators should take care not to speedily delete pages or media except in the most obvious cases. ... Before nominating a page for speedy deletion, consider whether it could be improved, reduced to a stub, merged or redirected elsewhere, reverted to a better previous revision, or handled in some other way (see Wikipedia:Deletion policy Β§ Alternatives to deletion). Re: Drafts

Hi there, regarding the drafts. Draft space doesn't really count for much, but I don't think any of them will become an article. It would be like if someone had a sandbox for each of those articles. You could always propose to redirect them to the season article, if they're a concern. Regarding the last one, what you wrote is a brief summary of what is already located at tropical cyclone. Indeed, Hurricane redirects to the TC article, which covers, in great detail and with fantastic sourcing, all of the components of a tropical cyclone, the scales, etc. So your proposed draft wouldn't add anything new to an already featured article.

Are you perhaps looking for a project you can work on, that you know your edits will be valuable and not redirected/deleted? β™« Hurricanehink (talk) 15:33, 2 July 2020 (UTC)

No, I don't think any of those drafts could become articles, including Dolly. Anything that would have two paragraphs of info can fit fine in the season section. β™« Hurricanehink (talk) 00:36, 3 July 2020 (UTC)

Do you need any suggestions for a topic you can work on? Might I suggest something like List of Puerto Rico hurricanes or List of Category 1 Atlantic hurricanes. β™« Hurricanehink (talk) 20:10, 3 July 2020 (UTC)

The problem with List of C1 Atlantic hurricanes is that you didn't include any examples. Check out other list articles, like List of Category 3 Atlantic hurricanes. There are a lot of storms to add. β™« Hurricanehink (talk) 13:50, 4 July 2020 (UTC)
@Hurricanehink: I'm a bit busy right now this week - I'll start cracking at it during the weekend. Destroyeraa 21:23, 7 July 2020 (UTC)

List of Category 1 Atlantic hurricanes

Destroyeraa, it's hard to do huge articles by yourself, and if you're determined to finish List of Category 1 Atlantic hurricanes, then it will take quite a while. I'm saying this from experience, namely List of intense tropical cyclones, List of extremely severe cyclonic storms, and List of Category 2 Atlantic hurricanes, so I'm moving the Category 1 list into your userspace. Most readers don't want to see an unfinished list in mainspace, but it's fine for it to be at User:Destroyeraa/sandbox or User:Destroyeraa/Category 1. Thanks, πŸ” Chicdat ChickenDatabase 10:05, 4 July 2020 (UTC)

Hey there Destroyeraa, do you need help getting your sandbox started? β™« Hurricanehink (talk) 18:30, 7 July 2020 (UTC)

Hey there, I've been adding a few storms to the article for C1 Atlantic canes. I think it could be a good collaboration, especially among newer users who are learning the ropes. Would you be interested in participating in a collaboration with other users to help finish the article? β™« Hurricanehink (talk) 14:14, 1 August 2020 (UTC)
@Hurricanehink: Sure! Thanks for the offer. ~ Destroyeraa (talk|Contribs) 14:17, 1 August 2020 (UTC)
Awesome! Please reach out to other users who you think might be interested. I added in back to Alex in 2016, and the article has up to 1935, so that's 80 more years to add. It's a lot of work (just ask anyone who's done one of these), so any extra people helping out will make it go a lot faster. β™« Hurricanehink (talk) 15:09, 1 August 2020 (UTC)
@Hurricanehink: I'm really busy this weekend, that's why I'm on a mobile device. I'll get to work on the article probably sometime next week. Also, the track cone for Isaias puts New Jersey near the western part of it, and forecasts are looking ominous right now. ~ Destroyeraa (talk|Contribs) 16:29, 1 August 2020 (UTC)
Take your time, Wikipedia doesn't write itself, and it doesn't happen overnight. Isaias isn't gonna be bad for the northeast. I just hope there aren't swimmers out in a TS (like during Fay). β™« Hurricanehink (talk) 21:38, 1 August 2020 (UTC)

Fay

Regarding this edit, how come you removed the content from the preparations section? β™« Hurricanehink (talk) 13:36, 10 July 2020 (UTC)

@Hurricanehink: So sorry Hink, I didn't realize that I had removed content. I immediately went to sleep after that edit, so I forgot to check. Destroyeraa 14:17, 10 July 2020 (UTC)
It's alright, I figured it was an accident. β™« Hurricanehink (talk) 14:22, 10 July 2020 (UTC)

So for Fay, I saw you're editing it now, I am too; I didn't realize that. Anyway, I saw you added the flash flood watch for New England, but that wasn't in the source that was in the preps section. So if you want to add info, make sure you include the reference, like you did for that tweet about Fay's origins. I removed the reference to Edouard, because it doesn't appear to be related to Fay. β™« Hurricanehink (talk) 15:23, 10 July 2020 (UTC)

@Hurricanehink: There really isn't much news on Fay's impacts right now, but I see people posting videos of street flooding in NJ and Delaware on Twitter. Should I include that?

Anyway, the winds for Fay are really picking up. According to the NHC, Fay's winds have increased to 60 miles per hour (97Β km/h). Starting to look like Sandy a bit in this picture. Destroyeraa 16:38, 10 July 2020 (UTC)

There is already flooding going on in Delaware and New jersey. Look for road and beach closures, that's how I found the beach closure in Delaware. β™« Hurricanehink (talk) 20:11, 10 July 2020 (UTC)

Scuttling of the German fleet at Scapa Flow

Hi there. I see you restoring links to Scotland in the text. Per WP:OVERLINK we don't do that. Quite apart from the recommendation in MoS not to link countries, you should ask yourself who the link is likely to benefit. Anyone reading the article who is curious to find out more about the country where it took place is only one click away from a link to it, either via the Scapa Flow article or the Orkney one, and adding loads of low-value links like this one makes it harder for people to find ones which will be more useful. I hope that makes sense. --84.64.249.140 (talk) 12:58, 18 July 2020 (UTC)

Here is the replacement typhoon names.

You can see this information on 6th paragraph in this report. http://www.typhooncommittee.org/52nd/docs/final/2nd%20VCTC52Report_FINAL.pdf

Aftermath of Hurricane Hanna

Dude just because you don’t want an aftermath does not mean it’s not happening. It’s only been 2 days since Hanna and the recovery is ongoing and there was much more information to be put in. Stop removing the aftermath section. People need to know what’s going on when they read that page not what you think is going on. I ask you to consider this. ~ Sincerely, Super Robloxsupersuperhappyface (talk) 16:06, 27 July 2020 (UTC)

@Robloxsupersuperhappyface: An aftermath section is not justified. JUst adding a few sentences does not justify a whole section. Hurricane Dorian has an aftermath section because there are paragraphs of information and many sources and it was a Category 5 hurricane. Hanna didn't caused unknown damage, only killed one person, and, to be honest, was just like Barry 2019 (Barry didn't have an aftermath section ICYMI). The information that you put in the aftermath section can fit in the impacts section. Thanks. ~ Destroyeraa (talk|Contribs) 16:12, 27 July 2020 (UTC)

But Barry is different than Hanna. Hanna had a huge storm surge and caused devastating flash flooding so it may take weeks to asses damage but the recovery is still ongoing. Barry is way less destructive than Hanna. Robloxsupersuperhappyface (talk) 17:12, 27 July 2020 (UTC)

@Robloxsupersuperhappyface: First, I want to thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. You have been contributing a lot on the subject of tropical cyclones, so I recommend you join WikiProject Tropical cyclones.

For Hanna, I think we can consider adding the aftermath section on the talk page of Hanna. More information in the coming days may justify the addition of that section, but please ask for the consensus after you have stated your points. ~ Destroyeraa (talk|Contribs) 18:29, 27 July 2020 (UTC)

Ok thanks for understanding and I’ll keep watching the news here in Corpus since I got hit by Hanna. Thanks Robloxsupersuperhappyface (talk) 19:11, 27 July 2020 (UTC)

I'm so sorry to hear that you have been hit by Hurricane Hanna, Robloxsupersuperhappyface. I hope you and your family recover quickly from the storm. Stay safe! ~ Destroyeraa (talk|Contribs) 19:15, 27 July 2020 (UTC)

We already got power and there was barely any damage most of the damage was way out there on the beach Robloxsupersuperhappyface (talk) 21:58, 27 July 2020 (UTC)

Robloxsupersuperhappyface, I'm happy to hear that. Looking at photos and videos on the web, damage looks pretty severe near the beach areas south of Corpus Christi. Although I live by the ocean (New Jersey), I am lucky to have missed Hurricane Sandy when it ravaged NJ and surrounding areas. However, a few weeks ago, we were hit by TS Fay, but that only brought around a foot of flooding. Stay safe.~ Destroyeraa (talk|Contribs) 13:22, 28 July 2020 (UTC)

Your signature

I'm not quite sure what is wrong with it, but when you nominated Hurricane Isaias at ITN, your signature broke the page. I removed the <small> tags, but as you can see, your signature is incomplete (unrelated to the size of the text); I suspect in the code for it something around the 'contribs' is wrong. Official name nothing

The Bahamas is officially "Commonwealth of the Bahamas". And the United States is called "The United States of America". Headers are supposed to be concise; with no other Bahamas to set apart, "the" is just more wordiness. But we can do things your way, too. Your username suggests opposing you might be foolish, after all! InedibleHulk (talk) 20:36, 5 August 2020 (UTC)

In that case, nice to meet you! You didn't do anything wrong enough to warrant the old Irish whip, big boot and legdrop, rest assured. Just pulled you over to let you know, you know? It's a small problem, but if we let everyone do it, it would be bedlam out there. Most things sound more natural with an a, uh, um or the in front. But the natural way is crazy, that's why Wikipedia came up with policy-based guidelines in the Old Days. So yeah, you're free to go, brother, drive safely (there've been reports of a hurricane coming through)! InedibleHulk (talk) 21:01, 5 August 2020 (UTC)

@InedibleHulk: Oh yeah. I'm sorry, I didn't remember that because that was several days ago. Now I remember the reason why I rm your comment. It was because it was largely off-topic and made no sense. The discussion was about Hurricane Isaias, not about mass killings and off-topic jokes/easter eggs. I was about to rm The Rambling Man's comments about Trump and Trump ticking, because that was entirely off-topic, but due to edit conflicts, I never got to. In discussions, try to keep your comments on-topic. Should've told you before I removed it. Storm related fatalities

Hey Destroyeraa, I'm not sure if you're a mod in the hurricane section or not but you seem more experienced here so I thought I ask you. Regarding "Storm related fatalities", do deaths that occur while people are cleaning up after a storm is completely gone count as "storm related"? For example if a guy gets electrocuted while cleaning up his yard a day or two after a storm is passed do you count that in the total death count for that storm/hurricane? If you're not a mod do you happen to know who is so I can ask them? Thanks in advance. 24.46.147.193 (talk) 01:52, 7 August 2020 (UTC)

August 2020

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on 2021 in British television; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. Adam9007 (talk) 00:53, 11 August 2020 (UTC)

@Chicdat: Stop trying to police Wikipedia as it doesn't do you any favours, as you are constantly getting things wrong. I also note that IP Addresses change all the time, for example, I could go into the pub and connect to the internet there to contribute to Wikipedia as an IP. As a result, we do not classify different IP Addresses as sock puppets. Just concentrate on creating content and repairing Owen and leave the policing to more experienced users.Jason Rees (talk) 11:52, 13 August 2020 (UTC)

@Chicdat and Jason Rees: Yep, Jason has told me a few days ago that this mysterious editor, 177.something or 45.something, is changing IPS probably due to editing in different places. Chicdat, I think classifying 45.something and 177.something as an IP vandal is too harsh, as some of the edits the anonymous editor are doing have a basis in good faith. However, the editor keeps ignoring the warnings and notices on his/her talk page. IMO, just leave the editor along for a while, only if he/she actually vandalizes, we can warn him/her. ~ DestroyeraaπŸŒ€ 13:01, 13 August 2020 (UTC)

@Chicdat and Jason Rees: Yep, this IP keeps changing images for storm infoboxes in season articles and storm articles. Me, Chicdat, and recently Rosalina2427 have warned this IP. IP doesn't seem to care nor respond. Most images this IP changes to are of poor quality IMO. ~ DestroyeraaπŸŒ€ 02:11, 16 August 2020 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) I don't mean to brag, but I've also posted several warnings on this IP's talk page, yet they always seem to ignore every warning they get. @Foxnpichu: OK! Thanks for notifying me! Glad an admin or noninvolved user moved it and closed the discussion. ~ DestroyeraaπŸŒ€ 19:53, 16 August 2020 (UTC)
Out of pure curiosity, when do you think the article will be ready to move back into the normal mainspace? Just when there is a reasonable amount of valid information?
@Foxnpichu:
  1. When there is enough information and not just blank tables
  2. At least December 2020, preferably January 2021. ~ DestroyeraaπŸŒ€ 22:14, 16 August 2020 (UTC)
Oh shoot. I forgot to sign my previous message. Regardless, that makes sense. Foxnpichu (talk) 07:59, 17 August 2020 (UTC)

Highly disruptive editing

Hello, the user you recently warned for making disruptive edits, ShemakesmynosebleedΒ (talkΒ Β· contribs), has not stopped and continued changing content (going as far as changing names of entire sections) without trying to find any consensus on the talk page. Also, the user removed your warning from his/her page. The user is a clear agenda pusher, all his/her edits are highly biased and conspiratorialist (the West allegedly wants to balkanize Belarus and Russia, those who oppose Putin or Lukashenko are CIA agents, the Belarusian opposition and its flag are Nazi, etc.). Please do something about him/her. Thanks. Taurus Littrow (talk) 07:03, 20 August 2020 (UTC)

@Taurus Littrow: I will report ShemakesmynosebleedΒ (talkΒ Β· contribs) if he/she makes another disruptive edit. There is a lot of edit-warring going on in 2020 Belarusian protests, and that needs to be stopped. According the WP:USERPAGE, users are not prohibited from removing warnings and notices from their talk page, but doing so is discouraged, but will not result in compensation. I will watch Shemakesmynosebleed's contribs, and if there is any additional edit warring, he/she will be reported. Thank you. ~ DestroyeraaπŸŒ€ 13:58, 20 August 2020 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Hurricane Marco (2020)

This is frowned upon. Just because you need the redirect out of the way does not mean you get to wrongly move it into the project namespace. It's futile anyways: you do not have the ability to suppress redirects, so moving it only leaves behind something else. Please just be patient and CSD G6 it directly in the future. There is no hurry. Your draft is not ready in any case; it has less information than the season article.--Jasper Deng (talk) 21:50, 23 August 2020 (UTC)

@Jasper Deng: I just realized it myself a few hours ago. I saw someone else do it before, with Isaias. Probebly need page mover rights to do so, without leaving a redirect. ~ DestroyeraaπŸŒ€ 22:14, 23 August 2020 (UTC)
It's still not proper to attempt to make room for a move this way. Just because someone else did it before does not mean it's okay.--Jasper Deng (talk) 18:54, 24 August 2020 (UTC)
@Jasper Deng: This might be a stupid question, but Do you need special rights to move pages while not leaving redirects? Page mover or admin rights? Thanks. ~ DestroyeraaπŸŒ€ 21:42, 24 August 2020 (UTC)
Yes; that's what I meant by "suppress redirects" above. Your use case, however, is more overwriting redirects. That still requires page mover or admin rights.--Jasper Deng (talk) 23:13, 24 August 2020 (UTC)

Hurricane Marco (2020)

How can it be from Marco "moisture" as the storm pass hundreds of miles East of Chiapas into the Yucatan channel with its clouds clearly on its Eastern quadrant. Look clearly, the thunderstorm activity over Chiapas, it is coming from a flow off the bay of Campeche. Any reference that claim that the rain in Chiapas is related from Marco is pure bad interpretation. This paragraph should be either removed or clearly mark as a wrong information.

Pierre cb (talk) 17:37, 25 August 2020 (UTC)

@Pierre cb: The news article is stated that the rains came from Marco, though indirectly. I Don’t know much Spanish, but I’m pretty sure the article says it was related to Marco. If you want to discuss this, do oit on Marco’s talk page, not mine please. Thanks.

ITN recognition for Hurricane Laura

On 27 August 2020, In the news was updated with an item that involved the article Hurricane Laura, which you created. If you know of another recently created or updated article suitable for inclusion in ITN, please suggest it on the candidates page. Tone 13:33, 27 August 2020 (UTC)

Too dramatic?

Is it okay to use wording like "extremely dangerous category 4" when it comes to hurricanes? Jasper Deng keeps telling me I'm being too dramatic.ChessEric (talk) 14:30, 27 August 2020 (UTC)

@ChessEric: Well, if you want to say β€œextremely dangerous”, you must put it in quotes, as those are the words of the NHC, not yours (even though it is common sense to know that hurricanes are extremely dangerous”). Also, it might help if you put a source to those words of the NHC. Jasper says that the phrase violates WP:PEACOCK, which means that it promotes or advertises something. However, I do not know how you can -remote the danger of a bear Cat 5hurricane. ~ DestroyeraaπŸŒ€ 16:38, 27 August 2020 (UTC)

There a Article about laura'a total damage

If you look up "Hurricane Laura Total Damage" You will see the total damage maybe i had problems adding in the total damage in the impact page for Laura. Dannisom (talk) 22:43, 28 August 2020 (UTC)

@Dannisom: Yep, I saw the article, but it’s only a rough estimate. We need an exact estimate, such as 10 billion dollars, not just an estimate of 4 to 12 billion. ~ DestroyeraaπŸŒ€ 23:06, 28 August 2020 (UTC)

Oh ok thanks Dannisom (talk) 23:26, 28 August 2020 (UTC)

Hi again there's 2 things i need to Say

1.Can i finally add the Wettest known hurricane to strike haiti and its renments sence laura finally dissipated.

2.I didn't you were removing the last island hurricane in see also and your reaspn was fair enough. Dannisom (talk) 00:04, 30 August 2020 (UTC)

@Dannisom:You can add the fact that Laura was the 7th wettest in Haiti, though please add a source. I suggest you don't add a table, since information might to hard to find and wrong.~ DestroyeraaπŸŒ€ 23:14, 30 August 2020 (UTC)

Dolores

There will be a GA backlog reduction in October so if you nominate Dolores by that time, surely it will be reviewed by one of the participants. I would do it, but I will be time-limited and have things I really want to get done before the end of 2020 (I will only have limited time on weekends for the most part). Im hoping to get Vicente, Hector, and Walaka (2018 EPAC) to FA by Christmas. Not to mention I will be neck-deep in the GANs I already committed myself to. I do wish you the best of luck with your article and you can ask questions if you have them. NoahTalk 01:44, 31 August 2020 (UTC)

@Hurricane Noah: Thank you. I will keep working on Dolores, when I have time. Currently, I am busy with other stuff, though other users seem to be improving the article. ~ DestroyeraaπŸŒ€ 17:55, 1 September 2020 (UTC)
The topic below is what I have been working on for the past two years. I suffered from some burnout after I did my fourth FA and felt disinterested in editing for some time. The entire thing will hopefully be featured sometime next year. FYI, Cooper is doing the timeline aspect of the topic. NoahTalk 18:04, 1 September 2020 (UTC)

No problem, ChessEric. LOL! Good work. If you have time, are you going to create an article for Nana? I'm busy this week, won't have much time except lunch and evenings. ~ DestroyeraaπŸŒ€ 22:33, 2 September 2020 (UTC)
@Destroyeraa: I was going to wait to see if it strengthened since shear was affecting it, but there was a center reformation this afternoon so an article is appearing more likely. Making tropical cyclone article really isn't my forte, but I can get one going if need be.ChessEric (talk) 23:48, 2 September 2020 (UTC)
@ChessEric: Per latest NHC advisory and recon, Nana has deepened, as a center reformation did occur. Gonna create draft-Draft:Tropical Storm Nana (2020). ~ DestroyeraaπŸŒ€ 00:11, 3 September 2020 (UTC)
@Destroyeraa: Indeed. Oddly enough, recon data may put this thing at close to or even at hurricane status despite the somewhat exposed center.ChessEric (talk) 01:21, 3 September 2020 (UTC)
@ChessEric: I agree, recon can sometimes reveal some weird things (like Isaias strengthening from a 60 mph TS into an 80 mph hurricane in 1 hour). Center is now within the northern edge of expanding Central Dense Overcast, which should allow some strengthening before landfall. ~ DestroyeraaπŸŒ€ 01:41, 3 September 2020 (UTC)

Re: Invite to join WikiProject Tropical cyclones!

Hey Destroyeraa, thanks for sending me an invite to the WikiProject Tropical cyclones. I did take a look at it but I have a few questions before deciding whether or not I should join. Currently I don't have a lot of extra time to research and edit wikipedia articles. Basically I only take a few minute breaks every few hours in between my other works to check up on the latest hurricane news for fun. Would I need to commit to any minimum amount of work in case I join the project? I would be able to occasionally double check fatalities information for older hurricanes but I definitely can't promise a certain amount of work by a specific time. Hurricane21 (talk) 22:41, 3 September 2020 (UTC)

G6

Just a couple of thoughts on my decline of your G6 at Draft:Tropical Cyclones in 2020 by jtwc. First, if an admin declines a CSD nomination, please don't add it back; evaluating CSDs is what we get "paid" to do (har har), so unless we've made a mistake (which doe happen) it should probably stay declined. Second, as to the reason itself, as I said in my edit summary, there are many reasons why someone might copy an existing article into the draft space, one of which being the ability to update an article by yourself without worry of edit conflicts (which in this case seems to be what they're doing). Not a huge deal, but this much text doesn't easily fit into an edit summary so I thought I'd drop a note. Primefac (talk) 12:17, 5 September 2020 (UTC) (please ping on reply)

@Primefac: Sorry. First, I though you were just another user wanting to challenge the speedy deletion, not an admin. However, the draft in question is a copy of Tropical cyclones in 2020, a page that doesn't have any edit conflicts and isn't that heavily-edited compared to tropical cyclone season articles. In fact, it is usually outdated! Wouldn't it be easier to update the existing article (collaborating) before creating a draft on your own? Thanks. ~ DestroyeraaπŸŒ€ 13:51, 5 September 2020 (UTC)
Everyone works in their own way; I've seen countless articles that are worked on for months as a copy in a user's sandbox, then they just copy/paste the new content into the existing article. Could they have done all of that work on the article (which, usually, is like this one and hardly edited)? Sure. Did they want to? Obviously not. I figure as long as it's not an A10 situation (copying in the article space) it's a "no harm, no foul" sort of situation. And no worries about the undo, you're not the only one who doesn't know I'm an admin! Primefac (talk) 18:19, 5 September 2020 (UTC)
@Primefac: Okay, I understand now. I went around on Hurricane Noah’s old draft of Hurricane Hector, it was in draftspace because he wanted to promote it to FA without much disruption. Maybe that’s what this user wants to do with the Tropical cyclones in 2020 draft (it’s currently listed as current-class). Also, I want to tell you that you’re one of the most patient admins I know. Keep up the good work you do! ~ DestroyeraaπŸŒ€ 20:32, 5 September 2020 (UTC)
Aww, thanks! Keep up the good work yourself. Primefac (talk) 21:16, 5 September 2020 (UTC)

WMO

I am not sure it is the job of the WMO to recognise the Meditteranean as a TC basin, when there is no international consensus as to if these systems are tropical cyclones.Jason Rees (talk) 15:34, 17 September 2020 (UTC)

@Jason Rees: Well it is the WMO's job to assign names. The UKMET, Greek, Turkish, French, Spanish, and Portuguese met centers all monitor the "basin" for both extratropical and subtropical development.~ DestroyeraaπŸŒ€ 15:40, 17 September 2020 (UTC)
I am well aware that various national met services of Europe, Asia and Africa monitor the basin, after all they need to know what the weather is like over their country. However, I don't think that they monitor it for development of extratropical/subtropical/tropical cyclones per say like the NHC does. I also feel that you are misunderstanding what the WMO is. It is basically an intergovermental agency of the United Nations which facilitates the exchange of weather information across national borders. Its members are the NMHSS of the world like NOAA, UKMO Meteo France etc who develop the information that the WMO uses. It has various programes to deal with the worlds weather, of which the tropical cyclone programme is one. These have various committees which deal with a wide range of issues, the TCP has the hurricane committee, typhoon commitee, panel on tropical cyclones (NIO), RA I Tropical cyclone committee and the RA V Tropical Cyclone committee. It is these panels/comittees that are responsible for developing and replacing names. However, it is the TC naming centres who name the systems: IE: NHC, CPHC, JMA, PAGASA, IMD, Mauritius, Madagascar, Reunion, Jakarta, BoM, PNG NWS & FMS. Outside of this there are various agencies in Europe who name systems regardless of semitropical including the UKMO and MetEirrean.Jason Rees (talk) 18:12, 17 September 2020 (UTC)
@Jason Rees: Thanks for the information! And wow, you know a lot of the TC agencies! Your expertise and your good work is why I gave you the barnstar! ~ DestroyeraaπŸŒ€ 18:28, 17 September 2020 (UTC)

Sidowpknbkhihj

Hi, Destroyeraa!

First of all, thank you so much for giving me Tireless Contributor Barnstar and Defender of the Wiki Barnstar (especially Defender of the Wiki Barnstar). While i should have been given the Tireless Contributor Barnstar earlier for my work on opinion polling and war maps in my early wikicareer, i never thought i would have ever gotten that Defender of the Wiki Barnstar. For that i'm very grateful to you. I believe i'm becoming more scarier to the vandals who disrupt Wikipedia all along.

The reason you gave to me why i got that Defender of the Wiki barnstar is because i'm fighting against Sidowpknbkhihj's socks continously since 25 August. Recently, i requested a global ban for Sidowpknbkhihj based on your comment about Sidowpknbkhihj that Sidowpknbkhihj should be locked on all meta accounts and be banned from creating new accounts, along with his IP address and all his socks should be locked and prevented from account creation!

I have been thinking about requesting Sidowpknbkhihj's global ban for a while, but once i see this comment from you, i finally decided to request the global ban against Sidowpknbkhihj - and also starting my first-ever RfC on Meta. Normally, LTAs like Sidowpknbkhihj never gets globally banned by Wikimedia community (instead, WMF Office has been mostly taking care of them. Just take a look at WhenDatHotlineBling.) - and they are generally globally locked. However because of you i'm starting to think LTAs are not just capable of being "just" disruptive, but they could be more dangerous than that (which means NOT global locks and blocks, but global ban is necessary). I think i might set the bar on how LTAs are handled if this RfC is successful.

Since you are very influential at leading me into this global ban request, what do you think about it? SMB99thx my edits 12:14, 18 September 2020 (UTC)

@SMB99thx: I strongly agree with requesting a global ban and lock. I don't know much about requesting global bans and the whole administrative stuff with bans and locks and sockpuppetry. I think you should take care of it, since you are clearly more experienced in those areas. Sidow... is a big problem on English Wikipedia, Japanese Wikipedia, and probably all WMF projects. Yeah, go ahead and make that global ban request...and thanks for defending the wiki! ~ DestroyeraaπŸŒ€ 16:33, 18 September 2020 (UTC)

Warning for 45.51.187.249

Was a level-4 warning for 45.51.187.249 necessary? The second edit was disruptive, but may have been just a test. The first appears to have been in good faith, but was accidentally done to the wrong infobox. Or you you have reason to believe the same person was editing from several IPs? @TornadoLGS: Well, the Cite error: A <ref> tag is missing the closing </ref> (see the help page).</ref></ref></ref></ref></ref></ref></ref></ref></ref></ref></ref></ref></ref> was clearly disruptive. Also, it was a level 3 warning, which I usually do for users who clearly did a disruptive edit. ~ DestroyeraaπŸŒ€ 16:30, 22 September 2020 (UTC)

Ianos as storm of the month

Hi there Destroyeraa. Regarding this edit, I believed that Ianos should be the storm of the month. It highlights what Wikipedia does best with these unusual storms. Teddy is a big storm, sure, but there have been other Canadian hurricanes that were borderline extratropical at landfall. Sally was bad, sure, but from a global scientific perspective, I believe a significant Medicane in the midst of such an unusual and active month should be highlighted as the storm of the month. It will be storms like Ianos that make up the climatology of Mediterranean storms if it ever gets recognized as a basin. I would be arguing the same if there was a significant SATL storm (like a Catarina). β™« Hurricanehink (talk) 18:11, 22 September 2020 (UTC)

@Hurricanehink: I am planning to write an article on Ianos, since it was a pretty record-breaking storm for the Greeks, and a noteworthy storm in general (comparable to probably Tropical Storm Fay this year). The Greeks don't usually see storms this bad, and the last time we've had an article for a medicane was Rolf in 2011. Sure, you can keep Ianos as SotM. I noticed that you changed the early october SotM to a "Camparison between 2020 and 2005." Funny. So will there be a SotM for that timeframe? ~ DestroyeraaπŸŒ€ 19:05, 22 September 2020 (UTC)
I realized the first five days of October is pretty minimal, so no need for a storm of five-day-period. β™« Hurricanehink (talk) 21:29, 23 September 2020 (UTC)

WikiProject Tropical Cyclones: News & Developments

  • As we rapidly approach the 15th anniversary of the project in October, it has been proposed that the Climate, Tropical cyclone, Severe Weather, and Non-tropical storms (defunct) wikiprojects get merged into a single project: Wikipedia:WikiProject Weather. This brand new project would remove the overlap that exists between the projects. It provide us with a better opportunity to develop articles such as List of named storms A, B, C etc; Tornadoes in Fiji/New Zealand/Hawaii/etc; Floods in 2018, 2019, 2020, etc; Floods in Bangladesh/United States/Egypt, etc; Weather of 1997, 1998, 2020, etc; Weather in Tokelau/South Africa/France, etc; Hurricanes in the United States, Hurricanes in Mexico, Typhoons in China, etc. The discussion continues on WP:Meteorology. Any feedback would be appreciated.
  • There are now more than 1,000 distinct good articles in the project, as of June, when Tropical Storm Sanba (2018) passed its GAR. That doesn't include the articles rated A-class that also passed GA status. There are now 1,299 good or featured articles, which 47.1% of all articles in the project. 80 net more good articles are needed for half of the project to be good or featured.
  • There are more than 500 articles in the Western Pacific, as of July, when YellowΒ EvanΒ (talkΒ Β· contribs) created Tropical Storm Ofelia (1993) and Tropical Storm Percy (1993). The WPAC is the second basin to reach that milestone, after the Atlantic, which crossed that threshold in 2008. In fact, the WPAC is growing at a rate of 33 articles per year (since 2017), while the Atlantic is only growing at a rate of 13.6 articles per year (also since 2017). At that rate, the WPAC would surpass the Atlantic in number of articles in 15 years, when both basins would have about 1,000 articles. The EPAC would only have about 450 articles by that point. At the current rate, the entire WPTC would have 4,632 articles. For reference, there are 2727 articles in the WPTC at the moment, 2,185 of which are a storm/season/timeline article.
  • The intensity lists by basin are progressing. List of Category 1 Atlantic hurricanes is still under construction, and could use help adding storms from 1936 to 2014. The List of Eastern Pacific tropical storms could use help adding storms from 1949 to 1989. The List of typhoons is going to take some time, as the current plan is to list every recorded typhoon, and not separate it (like the other basins) by category. This is because JMA is the RSMC for the WPAC, and they don't publicly use super/violent typhoon. Most intensity lists are finished for the North Indian Ocean, excepting the proposed List of depressions and deep depressions within the North Indian Ocean. Australia is almost done, only needing List of Australian region tropical lows, and SPAC is done all the way down to List of South Pacific tropical disturbances and tropical depressions. SWIO has only lists for very intense and intense tropical cyclones, so it could use more help.
  • There is a discussion to merge the nearly 600 disambiguation/set index article into naming lists by letter, such as List of named storms (I), instead of Tropical Storm Ingrid. This would make sure that the pages are centralized, which would make updating and navigation easier.

2018 Featured Topic

Hurricane Noah recently announced an initiative to get a featured topic for the year of 2018 with complete subtopics. The Eastern Pacific portion is very close to achieving a featured topic, and the Atlantic and North Indian Ocean are around a B-class average. The Western Pacific, Southern Hemisphere, and the global article for 2018 need your help! A lot of work is needed to get those three items up to par. For more information on which articles need specifically, please check out the project talk page. Getting a featured topic for an entire year would be an impressive feat for our project.

Storm of the month and other tropical activity for July

Hurricane Isaias caused widespread flooding and wind damage to the East Coast of the United States, spawning a destructive tornado outbreak and killing at least 18 people. Forming from a tropical wave near the Lesser Antilles on July 30, Isaias crossed Puerto Rico, Hispaniola, and parts of the Bahamas, before making its final landfall in Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina. The storm proceeded up the East Coast, spawning 37 tornadoes and causing more than 3 million power outages, with more than half of them in New Jersey. Overall, Isaias caused a total of $4.2Β billion in damage and 18 fatalities.

  • Atlantic - there were five named storms in the North Atlantic in July, tying the record set by 2005. In addition to Isaias, the first storm of the month was Tropical Storm Edouard, which formed near Bermuda and moved quickly across the north Atlantic. A few days later, Tropical Storm Fay became the first storm to hit New Jersey since 2011. Fay caused 6 fatalities and $400Β million in damage. Short-lived Tropical Storm Gonzalo threatened the southern Lesser Antilles, but it dissipated while crossing into the Caribbean Sea. Hurricane Hanna formed in the Gulf of Mexico and rapidly intensified as it made landfall in Padre Island, Texas. The storm caused $500Β million in damage and 5 fatalities. There was also a short-lived tropical depression near Cabo Verde.
  • Eastern Pacific - Tropical Storm Cristina nearly reached hurricane intensity as it moved to the southwest of Mexico, affecting Socorro Island. After two short-lived tropical depressions, Hurricane Douglas became the basin's first hurricane on JulyΒ 23, which was the fourth-latest on record. Douglas would go on to strengthen into the season's first major hurricane, briefly attaining Category 4 status before weakening as it passed north of Hawaii. Damage in Hawaii was minor.
  • Western Pacific - For the first time on record, there were no tropical storms or typhoons during the month of July in the western Pacific. There were two nondeveloping tropical depressions during the month, as well as two tropical depressions in late July that would reach peak intensity in August. Tropical Storm Sinlaku formed on JulyΒ 31 and made landfall in Vietnam, causing significant flooding and killing 6 people. Typhoon Hagupit formed east of the Philippines and later made landfall in Wenzhou, China, killing 12 and causing more than Β₯2.858Β billion (US$411Β million) in damage.

Member of the month (edition) –ChessEric

ChessEric first joined Wikipedia in April of this year, and has quickly become a prolific weather editor. In addition to his work on tornado and severe weather articles, ChessEric helped write the bulk of the Hurricane Laura article (the storm of the month), in addition to making sure the article stayed free of vandalism, with 224 edits to the article as of this newsletter. ChessEric was one of 190 editors who worked on the Laura article. We thank ChessEric for his edits, and hope we can build on more collaborations in the future between the severe and the tropical cyclone Wikiprojects.

WPTC and WP:ITN, by Destroyeraa

A few weeks ago, I created an article, Hurricane Isaias, as it threatened much of the East Coast. I've created several articles already, but Isaias is one that stood out to me. First of all, it affected me, my town and my state of New Jersey, along with millions of other people. Two months ago, I learned about Wikipedia's In The News section of the main page, which documents recent events that are in the news. I nominated Isaias' article on August 1 here, and the discussion was closed quickly after Isaias had weakened significantly after impacting the Bahamas. As Isaias made landfall in the Carolinas, spawned 36+ tornadoes and killed 18 people, I re-nominated Isaias [1], got rejected again, and I learned a few lessons that I want to share to other editors:

When posting

  • If you post something that isn't in the news or isn't notable at all, then it would be quickly closed without much discussion.
  • Don't feel upset when someone opposes your nomination. It is almost guaranteed that someone will oppose your nomination.
  • Keep improving the article. An article that is a stub won't likely be posted.
  • When posting about a person, make sure the article complies with BLP policies, and is adequately referenced and well-written.

I also learned a few lessons about which tropical cyclones to post. In July, someone nominated Hurricane Hanna (2020) here, and it was also rejected because it didn't meet the notability requirements. Also, keep in mind that damage estimates and death reports often come out several days after the storm, which makes passing the nomination for a storm like Isaias, a storm that caused $4.2Β billion and 18 deaths, somewhat hard.

My opinions on when to nominate an article (this list mainly refers to tropical cyclone articles)

  • The storm should affect more than two countries. However, if the storm causes a lot of death and destruction in one country (such as Tropical Storm Imelda), see the requirements below
  • The storm should cause more than $1 billion in damage. However, if the storm causes less destruction and less death, see the requirements below
  • The storm should cause at least 10 or 20 deaths. Most ITN nominations about a disaster that have less than 10 deaths are usually rejected/closed.
  • The storm should break at least 1 notable record (such as the deadliest storm to hit a country in 20 years, or something like that).

There is currently a discussion on the WPTC project page about this topic.

New user perspective on WPTC, By Weatherman27

Around six months ago, I joined Wikipedia after seeing many articles on tropical cyclones and their seasons. Being someone who has studied (and been through) multiple storms, I realized I could help make a difference, bring more attention to tropical cyclones and that Wikipedia was the perfect place to do that. Soon after, I came across the WikiProject Tropical cyclones page, and after seeing what they did, I decided to sign my name and join the project. I really enjoyed how they gave to-do lists of tropical cyclone pages that needed work among other things. One of the great things about this WikiProject is the warm welcome I received when I joined and I got to know some of the more veteran editors, and they really helped me get around on Wikipedia, such as helpful tips and great advice to make better edits. As I have become comfortable editing and helping other users, some things came to mind that I thought other new users should know when they join the WPTC:

  • If you are new and have questions, don't be afraid to ask someone. There are plenty of helpful editors who know what they are doing, and who would be happy to give some great tips to get you used to editing weather articles on Wikipedia.
  • Don't be afraid to start editing. You can edit tropical cyclone pages as much as you want, just make sure you use the proper sources and citations.
  • Be kind. It is simply the Golden Rule, if you use it, others will too.
  • If you see something wrong, do something! If you see vandalism or any strange edits, make sure you revert them.
  • Help improve. There are plenty of tropical cyclone articles that need improvement and we need all the help we can get.
  • If you have any ideas but you're not sure if they would be right for an article, you can discuss them with fellow users on a talk page.

I am sure I missed some tips, but these are important for getting started with WPTC. This WikiProject has some amazing people and articles and I am sure new users (and veteran users as well) enjoy this as much as I do and will continue to make great edits as well as informative articles.

Current assessment table

Assessments valid as of this printing. Depending on when you may be viewing this newsletter, the table may be outdated. See here for the latest, most up to date statistics.
As of this issue, there are 157 featured articles and 70 featured lists. There are 135 A-class articles, and 1,002 good articles. There are only 65 B-class articles, perhaps because because most articles of that quality already passed a GA review. There are 369 C-class articles, 736 start-class articles, and 151 stub-class articles, with 31 lists, and 8 current articles. These figures mean that slightly more than half of the project is rated a GA or better. Typhoon Warren was the 1000th GA in the project.

About the assessment scale β†’

Storm of the month and other tropical activity for August

Hurricane Laura tied the 1856 Last Island hurricane as the strongest hurricane ever recorded to make landfall in the U.S state of Louisiana, as measured by maximum sustained winds. It moved across the Lesser and Greater Antilles as a tropical storm, killing 35 people on the island of Hispaniola due to flooding and landslides. Laura rapidly intensified once it reached the Gulf of Mexico, becoming a powerful CategoryΒ 4 hurricane on AugustΒ 26 with peak winds of 150Β mph (240Β km/h) early the next day. On AugustΒ 27, Laura made landfall near Cameron, Louisiana at peak intensity, producing wind gusts of 137Β mph (220Β km/h) in Lake Charles, and leaving at least $8Β billion in damage. Overall, Laura killed more than 57 people, with more missing.

  • Atlantic - the basin continued its record pace of activity. In the middle of the month, Tropical Storm Josephine formed east of the Lesser Antilles and eventually dissipated north of the islands. Tropical Storm Kyle originated off the east coast of the United States and moved to the east-northeast. Hurricane Marco formed in the Caribbean and briefly strengthened into a minimal hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico. For a few days, the NHC forecast back-to-back hurricane landfalls from Marco and Laura within two days of each other; however, Marco dissipated near the Louisiana coastline without causing significant damage. Toward the end of the month, Tropical Depression Fifteen formed off the southeastern United States.
  • Eastern Pacific - Hurricane Elida was the season's second hurricane, which brushed the Baja California Peninsula while moving northwestward. In the middle of the month, a series of storms formed, including a long-lived tropical depression, Tropical Storm Fausto, and Hurricane Genevieve, the last of which passed near the Baja California Peninsula. Genevieve killed two people, and its moisture spread into the southwestern United States. Toward the end of the month, Tropical Storm Hernan caused flooding and landslides in southwestern Mexico, and Iselle formed around the same time farther west over open water.
  • Western Pacific - after a quiet July, the basin became more active in August. Tropical Storm Jangmi brushed western Japan and South Korea with heavy rainfall. A short-lived tropical depression existed south of Japan. Severe Tropical Storm Mekkhala formed in the South China Sea and struck Guangdong, resulting in heavy rainfall and $154Β million in damage. About a week later, Severe Tropical Storm Higos struck the same region, leaving eight deaths. Typhoon Bavi formed east of Taiwan and moved northward through the Yellow Sea, eventually striking North Korea, where it caused one fatality. Toward the end of the month, Typhoon Maysak formed east of Taiwan and followed a similar path to Bavi, becoming a powerful typhoon as it moved through the Ryukyu Islands. Another tropical depression formed between the Marianas Islands and Japan on AugustΒ 31.

Awards

The project has a leveled awards system set up if you didn't know. You could create a page similar to this to keep track of your achievements as you go along. I still need to create userboxes for 26-40, but that affects a small number of individuals. NoahTalk 23:07, 16 September 2020 (UTC)

I did check over your stats for you. Per the stipulation that you need β‰₯10 edits on an article for them to count, you have 1067 TC edits. I added your average edit size and your "time in service" bonus since you have been here about 118 days I believe. That goes to about 186 points and 196 with your ITN. Don't worry, you will go up considerably over time. I was barely over a thousand when the awards were created a year or so ago. NoahTalk 23:27, 16 September 2020 (UTC)

Cyclone Yasa 2020/ Late Merry Christmas (lol)

Hey destroyaa just wishing you a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays but I want to bring up the pressure of Yasa in the Cyclone Yasa (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyclone_Yasa) article. It shows a pressure of 899 mb which I know is FMS's estimate but do you think that its more reasonable to use JTWC's estimate? Doge1941 (talk) 16:11, 27 December 2020 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) Hi @Doge1941:, We never use the JTWC pressure estimates since they are totally unofficial, in fact, I was told the other year that the FMS pressures are closer to the truth than the JTWC's. We can mention them in the prose if needs be but for the infobox and other articles, the FMS's pressure takes priority since they are the RSMC. Merry Christmas etc.Jason Rees (talk) 16:33, 27 December 2020 (UTC)

Ok I got it but imo 899 mbar is totally unreasonable for pressure. Doge1941 (talk) 17:10, 27 December 2020 (UTC)

While it is indeed a strange pressure, what makes the 899 so unreasonable? Bearing in mind that the FMS were on the ground and would have better access to measurements from weather stations near the system.Jason Rees (talk) 17:33, 27 December 2020 (UTC)
@Doge1941: Happy holidays to you too. Technically, the JTWC is not the RSMC for any basin, and thus we Wikipedians do not use JTWC pressure. Yeah, some RSMCs are incompetent, with Meteo France and the NHC being the most competent IMO. ~ DestroyerπŸŒ€πŸŒ€ 17:22, 27 December 2020 (UTC)

@Jason Rees I heard that they gave Yasa 899 just because of Dvorak estimates lol but idk they may have used surface estimates. Doge1941 (talk) 23:06, 27 December 2020 (UTC)

@Doge1941: Have a look at WP:NOTAFORUM. Whether FMS' estimate is good or not is not something we're here to chat about.--Jasper Deng (talk) 01:08, 28 December 2020 (UTC)

ok got it Doge1941 (talk) 15:44, 28 December 2020 (UTC)

FWIW @Doge1941: what you heard is not a reliable source or good enough to convince me to change from the FMS estimate of 899 to the JTWC's of 914. After all the surface estimates of Yasa's pressure would have been derived from stations maintained and operated by the FMS. Jason Rees (talk) 06:07, 29 December 2020 (UTC)

Ok but I still think that 899 is unreasonable. Doge1941 (talk) 15:08, 29 December 2020 (UTC)
