Why?

Why did you indefinetly block @Key of G Minor? I assume you have good reason, but I would like to know... I was going to tag Battle of Konculj for A3 as they did, but if I do that will you block me, too? Edward-Woodrow :) [talk] 17:56, 6 July 2023 (UTC)

Curious about this too, seemed like they did it in good faith. 1TWO3Writer (talk) 18:02, 6 July 2023 (UTC)
WP:A3 does not apply to articles with infoboxes.--Bbb23 (talk) 18:07, 6 July 2023 (UTC)
I apologize for that. 1TWO3Writer (talk) 18:09, 6 July 2023 (UTC)
Okay... and the response is and indef block? Key of G Minor has only made a little of four hundred edits, and clearly can't be expected to completely understand all the details of CSD (clearly I don't, either). There must be a better reason than "disruptive edits". WP:EXPLAINBLOCK. As 1TWO3Writer said, Key of G Minor looks like a good faith contributer. Edward-Woodrow :) [talk] 18:11, 6 July 2023 (UTC)
Sorry, but you are not a representative for the user - at least I hope not. I've commented at the user's page, and another administrator will review the unblock request. No more posts here, please.--Bbb23 (talk) 18:16, 6 July 2023 (UTC)
The user has just been CU-blocked as a sock. Big surprise.--Bbb23 (talk) 18:18, 6 July 2023 (UTC)

Infobox disruption

Even after you warned Fantasticer, they keep adding unsourced content to infoboxes [1][2]. In another edit, they claimed that a living person died 22 years ago [3]. Furthermore, some edit summaries suggest a battleground mentality ("don't dare to") [4][5]. Can you take a look again at the editor, and do sth to stop the disruption? Ktrimi991 (talk) 13:28, 7 July 2023 (UTC)

That edit summary is even worse, and probably needs to be deleted. Ktrimi991 (talk) 13:56, 7 July 2023 (UTC)
I noticed the edit summary, but I don't think it's deletable. I've blocked the user.--Bbb23 (talk) 13:58, 7 July 2023 (UTC)
Thanks, much appreciated. Ktrimi991 (talk) 14:00, 7 July 2023 (UTC)

Undeletion request for Draft: Deji Olatunji

Hello there! I hope you are having a great day. Back in January, you deleted a draft of Deji Olatunji following a deletion review in November. However, in the past month, an RFC over at Wikipedia Talk:WikiProject YouTube established that Deji could be removed from WP:DEEPER and that there was no opposition to starting a draft. I recall a draft from circa October 2022-January 2023 with significant, well sourced work, and I believe it might have been here. I hereby kindly request unsalting and restoration of this draft page from you to be worked on and submitted to AFC, and if not, an alternative of posting on the sandbox of either User:PantheonRadiance or me (preferably him in that case, due to his prior work in establishing source notability for YouTubers in AFD and expanding their BLPs, permission has been granted by him to do so). Thank you, and have a great day! DrewieStewie (talk) 00:23, 2 July 2023 (UTC)

I've never even heard of WP:DEEPER. ScottishFinnishRadish, this is all your fault. How about you restoring it to draft space? Restoring a draft that has been created so many times by socks is not something that comes trippingly off my fingers.--Bbb23 (talk) 13:06, 2 July 2023 (UTC)
@ScottishFinnishRadish: indicated on Courcelles talk page that he’s been busy recently and hasn’t been able to look into much on-wiki things. Accordingly, I have no problem waiting out for his eventual response on here. There is no rush, and we will hear from him regarding this matter whenever he has time to handle this inquiry. DrewieStewie (talk) 19:54, 4 July 2023 (UTC)
@DrewieStewie: Pings don't work that way. You have to sign when you make the ping.--Bbb23 (talk) 15:33, 6 July 2023 (UTC)
Thank you, I appreciate your patience.--Bbb23 (talk) 20:07, 4 July 2023 (UTC)
DrewieStewie, which one of the drafts should I be restoring? Bbb23, can I just remove the title from the blacklist, or is there some paperwork I need to file for that? ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 02:15, 7 July 2023 (UTC)
Although I made a semi-facetious comment, the reason I asked you to do whatever is needed is because I have no clue how to do it. If you're not sure of the proper procedure, you could try asking someone else, or even posting it to AN or some other venue that no sane person likes to frequent. Sorry.--Bbb23 (talk) 13:51, 7 July 2023 (UTC)
Well, I undeleted the draft, so at least it can be worked on. I'll address the title blacklist when I have a bit more time. Sorry to clog up your talk page with all of this. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 15:49, 7 July 2023 (UTC)
@ScottishFinnishRadish: Come to think of it, I am trying to recall which one between the article at Deji (YouTuber) and Draft: Deji Olatunji was more developed at the time of their respective deletions (twice in the case of article space). If my memory serves me correctly, I believe the draftspace entry was a bit more developed (at least during and in the immediate aftermath of the deletion review, I can’t speak on afterwards in the time between then and its deletion in January), considering it covered some things the article space entry hadn’t yet covered at the time of its deletion. Correct me if I am wrong though. If I am correct, it should be a diff that existed publicly on that space between November 2022 and January 2023. If that one isn't well developed, I could request a copy of article space contents onto my sandbox and put it onto the draft. DrewieStewie (talk) 03:02, 7 July 2023 (UTC)
I believe it's just Draft:Deji Olatunji, as that was the one deleted on January 16th according to the logs. I also remember that one having a bit more substantial content; the only part missing was the empty YouTube career section. Speaking of which, I've been working on finding more reliable sources that prove WP:GNG and WP:BASIC, and even started work on parts of it - mainly on his Career section. Should the draft be restored I 100% promise that this draft WILL be edited in good faith without any tenditious editing. PantheonRadiance (talk) 03:10, 7 July 2023 (UTC)

Deletion of an experimental sandbox page -- please help me understand your nomination for speedy deletion

Bbb23, would you please help me understand why you would nominate a sandbox page for deletion?

I have never submitted a wikipedia article and have been practicing for months via the sandbox page.

I created the sandbox page in good faith after reviewing the following information about sandbox pages: Wikipedia:About the sandbox

I have made no indication that I even plan to submit the page I have been working on within the sandbox page, nor will / would I submit any article without carefully reviewing / editing a page to ensure compliance with Wikipedia's suitability and other guidelines for article submissions.

The sandbox page you marked for speedy deletion was deleted by member Justlettersandnumbers very shortly after your nomination and all of practice use of Wiki Syntax and VisualEditor is now gone.

Thank you for proving more information about your decision to facilitate the deletion of an experimental page prior to my submission of an article for formal review.

Kind regards,

Confused about blocked editor

Hi Bbb23. I was just reviewing a draft and got a warning box saying the submitter was blocked indefinitely for poor English skills. I was confused because the draft was perfectly fine, and when I went to the user's talk page, there was, sure enough, a notice from you that they were blocked indefinitely from the Article namespace for that reason. But following the block notice is a frankly massive amount of accepted draft notices, and the user's contributions show many recent and positive changes, including in article space. It seems like the block was reversed at some point, but I couldn't find anything about that in the ANI discussion or the talk page. I'm not sure but I think the outdated(?) block notice is causing false "this user is blocked" messages to show on submitted drafts and their contribution page (and possibly other places). I certainly don't want to remove the notice myself since I'm sure there's something I'm missing here, but I thought it might require intervention and figured I'd ask the admin who blocked in the first place. WPscatter t/c 01:11, 10 July 2023 (UTC)

I don't know why you're bringing this up. The user can speak for themself. I also don't understand some of your references. The user has been pblocked since October 30, 2022. There's a standard block notice when I imposed the block. It's still there and can be removed by the user if they wish, but not by you. It's not "outdated". It looks like the user just doesn't remove old stuff from their Talk page or archive anything - up to them. I don't know what you mean by "false 'this user is blocked'" messages. I'd have to see one, but if that's what the system generates, it's certainly not false. Further, the user's block log shows that it is the only block they have and no unblock. If the user wishes to appeal the pblock, they can do so.--Bbb23 (talk) 01:30, 10 July 2023 (UTC)
Oh, I see what's going on now. I'm seeing contributions to mainspace articles because the blocked user made the edits when they were in draftspace. I didn't consider that and thought those contributions meant they weren't actually blocked from mainspace. Apologies! WPscatter t/c 02:44, 10 July 2023 (UTC)

WP:BATTLEGROUND?

Hey, Bbb23. Could you take a look at this new subpage User:Khirurg/Taunts Khirurg (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) created. He included comments directed to him which he considers "taunts" including an edit by me. In this edit, I reminded him today that casting aspersions is not appropriate and does not help in finding a consensus, but can lead to blocks as this has happened in the past because of the way he interacts with other users [6] This was my reply in a report which he commented to cast aspersions against the user who filed it [7]. This is one of the exact reason why you have blocked him in the past [8]. Another user raised the issue on his talkpage [9]. Is there an appropriate procedure to delete this subpage? Such actions only create problems and increase WP:BATTLEGROUND behavior. Note that even when I notified him about 3RR today, his response was in the same vein Don't get your hopes up, my last edit was not a revert. Durraz0 (talk) 21:52, 13 July 2023 (UTC)

I don't think it qualifies for speedy deletion, but if you think it's inappropriate, see WP:MfD.--Bbb23 (talk) 22:05, 13 July 2023 (UTC)

Advice

You removed the CSD tag here. Draft:Vishal chaturvedi graphic designer was entirely written by User:Vishalchaturvedi01, and the page contained only two lines, one with his birthday and the other being "A professional within the graphic design and graphic arts", with what seemed like two attempts at uploading images of his own work. The page seemed like self promotion to me, so I tagged it as G11.

Im quite new to this, so I may have made an error here. I would appreciate your advice on how I could have done better. Thanks, Captain Jack Sparrow (talk) 22:08, 15 July 2023 (UTC)

Just because someone is promoting themself doesn't mean it qualifies for G11. The language of the page must be promotional.--Bbb23 (talk) 22:11, 15 July 2023 (UTC)

IP nonsense/holiday vandal

Thanks for helping to clean up after that IP vandal. I am by no means an IP/rangeblock wizard, but it seems like 111.235.90.230 and 111.235.90.138 are the same user (they seem to be inactive now), and it would appear that Klarence sanchez is an account created by the same user. Tol (talk | contribs) @ 02:03, 16 July 2023 (UTC)

It was a mess, wasn't it? There seemed no point to blocking the named account because they haven't edited in a while, but if you notice a resumption by them, please let me know. I agree with you about the two IPs not being worth blocking for the moment. I did however block Special:contributions/111.235.89.0/24 for a month because that range had created many of the drafts you tagged. Hopefully, this vandalism will stop, but somehow I doubt it.--Bbb23 (talk) 12:00, 16 July 2023 (UTC)

It makes no sense. As I recall, you can indent an unblock request, but you can't a reviewed unblock request. I discovered this a while ago, and there may have even been an explanation for it, but, if so, I don't remember what it was.--Bbb23 (talk) 13:00, 18 July 2023 (UTC)

Deleted Draft Page Functionality

Hey Bbb23, you can probably tell I'm new here. If there's a better way to message you directly let me know.

I bet you can guess what I was repurposing the draft page for just based on the name. Does Wikipedia have any way of staging changes to an article and collaborating on those changes? I'm working on a reorganization of the RCV in the United States article because the information is just plain poorly presented. But, reorganizing the article can't really be done in small steps, and I see no way to save changes without committing them to the public-facing page.

Independent of that, is there any way to recover the source text for that draft page? It would be nice to not have to redo the work I did. I've got chronic fatigue syndrome pretty severely, so the pace of changes to that draft page pretty much represent my maximum speed.

cheers, Joe Jasavina (talk) 17:43, 17 July 2023 (UTC)

Do you have any relationship with Wulfstrex?--Bbb23 (talk) 17:57, 17 July 2023 (UTC)
Yeah I enlisted them to help me reorganize the RCV in the United States page. I made sure to propose the idea on the talk page before starting any major work, though.
We're both voting systems nerds and we're in a few discord chats together. We're both new to being serious about Wikipedia. It also seems we've both gotten distracted with our own personal side projects on here, too. Jasavina (talk) 18:23, 17 July 2023 (UTC)
Is there any way I can recover the source text without having to bother you? it was my understanding I'm supposed to ask you for it. Jasavina (talk) 21:17, 19 July 2023 (UTC)
I deleted two pages: User:Jasavina and Draft:Jasavina's App Accessible Collaborative Draft Page DO NOT PUBLISH. I believe the draft was a copy of your userpage, right? Two questions: (1) which one did you want me to restore? and (2) What is the purpose of it? I ask question #2 because that will affect where I put the restored page.--Bbb23 (talk) 22:23, 19 July 2023 (UTC)
The draft page, please.
The draft page was a copy of my user page, which I was (wrongly) using as a sandbox to stage a reorganization of the page "Ranked-choice voting in the United States," which has been proposed and agreed to on the talk page of that article. I haven't figured out how to access the user sandbox from the app and the mobile website doesn't have a dark mode. I'm basically forced to use dark mode if I want to keep my eyes open for any extended period of time.
Anyway, the reason I made a draft page for it was because I wanted Wulfstrex to help and they can't edit my user page. I kinda doubt they'll be allowed to edit my sandbox, either. With that assumption, after I get the source text I'll put it in my user sandbox and then write new sections in a notepad app and transfer them in blocks through the mobile web interface. I'll have Wulfstrex keep a copy on their user sandbox and we'll collaborate that way, sending each other updates as we go.
If there's a better way to do it, let me know. Jasavina (talk) 00:45, 20 July 2023 (UTC)
Done. Good luck to you.--Bbb23 (talk) 00:54, 20 July 2023 (UTC)
Copied. Thank you! You're free to delete it again at your leisure. Jasavina (talk) 01:29, 20 July 2023 (UTC)

WP:AN3

Kind regards. Many thanks for your time and your thoughts here. I wanted to ask if the restoration of the articles last stable version was in order (Runrunes, El Pitazo, Tal Cual, Efecto Cocuyo). I had tagged the disputed sections for the time being and I'm asking since you are an uninvolved administrator, which now knows about the dispute, to prevent further edit warring and an escalation of the situation. Best wishes and many thanks in advance. NoonIcarus (talk) 12:13, 20 July 2023 (UTC)

How can your reverting "prevent further edit warring and an escalation of the situation"? Discussing the disputes with the other editor would be more productive and less risky (for you). I haven't looked at the merits of the disputes; nor do I intend to.--Bbb23 (talk) 12:26, 20 July 2023 (UTC)
I'm sorry if I wasn't clear enough. I'm asking for intervention precisely because I wish to avoid reverts myself. Several of the articles already have open discussions, and there have been many changes that already have been agree upon, but these should be from the article's stable version, and not the other way around. --NoonIcarus (talk) 12:43, 20 July 2023 (UTC)
I am not going to take any action involving a content dispute. As I said, you'll have to work it out through some method of dispute resolution.--Bbb23 (talk) 12:44, 20 July 2023 (UTC)
I understand. At any rate, thank you. --NoonIcarus (talk) 12:48, 20 July 2023 (UTC)

Some editors used to call me b3, so does that mean I take the number of years I've been an admin and cube it? Quick question on your name

Is you user name an acronym for Big Brother Brasil 23? Wolfquack (talk) 23:33, 20 July 2023 (UTC)

Absolutely, my prescience is unlimited. I alone knew in 1997 that there would be 23 seasons of that, um, show. Indeed, I was one of the first contestants, but I was tossed out on my ear when it was discovered that I had an older brother IRL. I tried to tell them that I didn't give a hoot about my real brother and begged to remain on the series. I even appealed to the BB Arbitration Committee, some of the members of which are here on ArbCom now, but they upheld the decision of the Big Brother Boot Board. I had my revenge, though: to this day, I never ever speak to anyone from Brazil! --Bbb23 (talk) 00:26, 21 July 2023 (UTC)

I guess I shouldn't be so cryptic. My comment had nothing to do with Big Brother, but you personally. I was wondering why you had such a large gap editing Wikipedia between 2014/15 and now - only if you don't mind talking about it.--Bbb23 (talk) 15:37, 22 July 2023 (UTC)
Real life. Work and family, mostly. Good things that grew quickly and left me with much less online time. By 2014, I had put more time (back) into things like yoga and rock climbing. Work also took off around then, and I began doing rather complex litigation. I also met my spouse in 2015. We've done some farming since getting married. I didn't step away for any sad reason, or anyone or anything Wikipedia related.
Coming back was a real boo-hoo though! I broke two ribs climbing (well, clearly falling and not climbing per se), and decided I had some time to log in again. Even once I'm mended, I aim for 1-2 logins a day, just for watchlist gazing or editing something I noticed while logged out at work. I might write another new article or two before I retire IRL, but don't hold me to that. JFHJr () 01:29, 23 July 2023 (UTC)

Much has changed here, though everyone still smokes cigarettes and many Parisian women still carry little doggies around. The dairy and the croissants are great. The place is alive almost 24/7. If only you were here! Next time, mayhaps. Drmies (talk) 07:40, 27 July 2023 (UTC)
I haven't been to Paris since pre-COVID. When I lived in Paris, though, there was this American ex-pat who used to bring her dog every day to the same cafe. She was relatively tall, slim, with bright red lipstick stamped on an otherwise pale face, and long straight hair. Her dog was a small long-haired dog who looked just like her except without the lipstick. I don't think I ever heard her (the woman) speak, either English or French; in fact, I don't remember how I knew she was American, but she was.
Why are you in Paris? No one else in the family other than your son? Going anywhere else? Take away your son's IPad, rent him a small dog, and dump them both in some picturesque coin, and tell them you'll be back to fetch them later in the day. By the time you get back, your son will have realized he's in Paris.--Bbb23 (talk) 13:34, 27 July 2023 (UTC)
I checked: she left. Sorry. No, just the boy and me--the rest were all at Boy/Girl Scout camps, including the Jamboree in WV. I love Paris in the springtime; I love Paris in the fall. You can guess the rest. It rained cats and little dogs, and we were completely washed out at the Eiffel Tower but I have selfies to prove I was there: you can see them on Facebook (that's for old people, as Ponyo knows very well). Fun times! Tomorrow we're on the TGV, headed south, to mess things up. Drmies (talk) 20:07, 27 July 2023 (UTC)
If you make your way to the home of Beaujolais crus, please say hello on my behalf, it's near and dear.-- Ponyobons mots 20:21, 27 July 2023 (UTC)
I love the TGV, such a wonderful way to travel. Where in the south? I don't have Facebook, but you could always e-mail me pictures. I love pictures!--Bbb23 (talk) 23:59, 27 July 2023 (UTC)

Possible deletion of Amardeep Singh Aujla

Despite my decline of your speedy deletion nomination, I would support deletion if it went to AfD. Unfortunately, as you may have seen, it's already had a contested PROD. JBW (talk) 15:07, 28 July 2023 (UTC)

I don't feel comfortable nominating it because I'm lousy at WP:BEFORE, and if it turns out that he's notable, I get trashed. AfD is not a pleasant venue.--Bbb23 (talk) 15:33, 28 July 2023 (UTC)
I confess that it was for fairly similar reasons that I didn't nominate it myself. However, it's possible I may reconsider when I'm feeling a bit more optimistic. Don't hold your breath though... JBW (talk) 16:22, 28 July 2023 (UTC)

Two more who should be investigated for ducking blocks.   –Skywatcher68 (talk) 15:22, 25 July 2023 (UTC)
I'm unwilling to block Vikas265 based on behavior alone. They are a much older account than the master (SMUTSS) and have over 2K edits under their belt without a block. I suggest you file an SPI and request a CU to resolve the problem. Throw in Green Planets as well, which I could probably just block now based on behavior, including username similarity. If you file a report, file it under SMUTSS as the master. If it turns out that Vikas265 is in fact the master, the case can be moved.--Bbb23 (talk) 15:50, 25 July 2023 (UTC)
Understandable. Vikas265 could just be an unrelated cricket fan.   –Skywatcher68 (talk) 17:23, 25 July 2023 (UTC)

And another one. I'll take a cricket eye to Vikas when I get a chance Blue Square Thing (talk) 09:32, 27 July 2023 (UTC)

Can't find anything suspect with Vikas - looks like they're just an Indian sub-continent cricket fan doing what they often do. But Earth cricket is back with edits all over Talk:2023 Zim Afro T10 - I thought they might have taken the hint, but clearly not. Do you want me to start an SPI - one's not been done at all in any of this as far as I can see. Blue Square Thing (talk) 17:16, 28 July 2023 (UTC)
Easy block. It's up to you whether to file an SPI. Depending on what you request, it could be for the record, or you could request a CU to find other accounts that might have been missed. Given the pace...--Bbb23 (talk) 17:42, 28 July 2023 (UTC)
Yes, my thoughts as well. I'll sleep on it and see what occurs overnight my time. Any more pop up and I'll formalise it. And thanks. Blue Square Thing (talk) 18:50, 28 July 2023 (UTC)

Are these acceptable sources to use for WP:DOB?

@Bbb23

Allmovie[19], TVinsider[20] and Moviefone[21]. I'm asking because I've sometimes come across these being used as a ref, however I've been removing them because I looked into them and they don't seem much different from Rotten Tomatoes as they may be acceptable for other departments, however also like Rotten Tomatoes they have the incorrect dates of births for some actors such as John Leguizamo, Tanya Roberts, Judith Hoag and Edie McClurg which makes their credibility questionable and not trustworthy for WP:BLP. It looks like that they're just web scraping content from other sites with no regard to the reliability or accuracy of that content. The real kicker is that Allmovie has Laverne Cox's birth year listed as 1984 even though her true birth year(1972) was revealed about 7 years ago.[22] Kcj5062 (talk) 21:18, 6 August 2023 (UTC)

I don't know why you're asking me - or indeed why you're asking so many editors. If you want to discuss the issue(s), WP:RSN is the best place. There may already be stuff on those particular publications - I don't know as I don't keep with that as well as some.--Bbb23 (talk) 21:59, 6 August 2023 (UTC)

Hi Bbb23,

I am a brand new user. My first article has just been removed and I just learnt why. Please advise, how I could retrieve the page? I promise, I will edit it according to all Wikipedia references. It would be a great help, if you could please at least share me the content, so I can recreate a proper Wikipedia page. Thank you for your support and understanding. deleted sandbox draft

Hello Bbb23, Would you please explain if you had my sandbox draft deleted, and if so, are you to restore it? I had not acted in bad faith and was using the sandbox for the first time to practice drafts and line edits. My draft was under way for several days; it seemed to suddenly disappear. Kind regards, Texeditor18 Texeditor18 (talk) 00:33, 8 August 2023 (UTC)

I deleted your sandbox per WP:G11 and will not restore it. Wikipedia is not a platform for promoting yourself or anyone else.--Bbb23 (talk) 00:39, 8 August 2023 (UTC)
Please explain how you came to know that the intention of the article was "to promote" anyone or anything. It was not; it was informational biographical and in a draft form in a sandbox environment, which to our understanding is for experimenting and testing when one is new to Wiki submissions. As an admin, would you not want contributors of articles for the greater readership? Is there not a process to flag or otherwise give the creator a warning to the owner of the sandbox? Ertrinken, the sockpuppet you have just blocked, is back

Gymrat16, the sockpuppet you recently blocked

Just wanted to call to your attention that Gymrat16, the Moka Mo sockpuppet you recently blocked and advised to stop posting lengthy talk page screeds, is still posting repetitive talk page rants begging to be unblocked (6,585 words over the course of four or five screeds that more or less all say the same thing). You had told Gymrat16 to stop posting screeds or risk losing talk page access, so I just wanted to flag the issue for you. He was given links both to instructions for defending oneself in an investigation and to the investigation page and chose not to act. Not sure why he thinks posting lengthy screeds is going to change anything. (I suppose I should un-watch his talk page, but I was going to let it expire on its own and seeing new edits pop up repeatedly tonight made me curious.) 1995hoo (talk) 01:29, 10 August 2023 (UTC)

Possible sock

Hello @Bbb23,

Hope this finds you well? Can you help run a check on this user, I am convinced this maybe a UPE. I had already move an article or two which they created to draft previously. If you take a look at his recent creation here I noticed that less than a day after the page is created another user comes along and adds a photo which had also been uploaded on August 10. I believe this two users are the same people as they edit on the same interest see here an article which they moved from draft without review. Also see here. Let me know if am right.

1RR

AzorzaI today they breached 1RR on Kosovo although when one wants to revert the banner on the top of the page makes it clear that the article is under 1RR. The reverts are [23] (reverted Maleschreiber) and [24] (reverted Uniacademic). AzorzaI was warned for breaching the 3RR a month ago [25]. AzorzaI has also been reverting every day since August 3 on Battle of Kosovo, making any improvememt there impossible. How is proceeded if the rule breached is 1RR instead of 3RR? What are the steps to address slow edit warring on Battle of Kosovo? Durraz0 (talk) 17:24, 15 August 2023 (UTC)

You can bring a 1RR violation to WP:AN3. You can also bring the violation to WP:AE. I don't stay on top of these things, but I'm not sure why Kosovo has an edit notice whereas Battle of Kosovo does not. At a glance, if you wish to bring a complaint, I think the better choice is AE because it involves more than one article subject to the same arbitration sanctions. Finally, in case it's not clear, this is not an area in which I consider myself very knowledgeable, both the kinds of articles and arbitration sanctions generally.--Bbb23 (talk) 18:27, 15 August 2023 (UTC)
Thank you for your guidance. I am familiar with WP:AN3 because I have reported there in the past, so I am reporting this there too. I will also take a look at AE so I learn how reports there are written. Durraz0 (talk) 18:52, 15 August 2023 (UTC)

Murder of Suchitra Mishra

Hi admin, it was just a start and I had put a tag on it, that it is under construction. I was replying to a message of the nominator, on talk page. He probably thought that I had completed the work and i was not mentioning the fact that accused was released. Can you pls consider restoring the page.,Admantine123 (talk) 12:41, 16 August 2023 (UTC)

Please see, that similar unsolved murder articles exist on Wikipedia. There is a special category for such articles as well.-Admantine123 (talk) 12:45, 16 August 2023 (UTC)
(edit conflict) It's not just that you didn't say that the defendant was acquitted ("released" is a pejorative word in this context), but, as Fram said, all the allegations were presented as fact. Dreadful WP:BLP violation.--Bbb23 (talk) 12:46, 16 August 2023 (UTC)
It was mentioned in source like that. I had been using words like allegedly, alleged everywhere.-Admantine123 (talk) 13:07, 16 August 2023 (UTC)
A page like this should never be "under construction" in a state which a) presented the acquitted suspect as the actual murderer (or the one who hired the murderers) in the lead (which didn't have any "alleged" in it) or b) didn't even mention the rather crucial fact that the suspect had been acquitted. "Under construction" doesn't magically suspend the most basic WP:BLP policy considerations, and it wasn't as if I swooped in immediately after you started writing; at the time I placed the CSD tags, it hadn't been edited for 2 hours. Fram (talk) 13:18, 16 August 2023 (UTC)
I was not active then, otherwise I would have responded. Anyways, can I request admin to move the content on my Sandbox. I would like to complete it there. Get it reviewed by both of you and then, if you both agree, with all your suggestions, move it to mainspace. -Admantine123 (talk) 13:21, 16 August 2023 (UTC)
Can you please learn to WP:INDENT correctly? I'm not comfortable restoring the page anywhere. However, you might be able to find an admin (not me) who will e-mail you the deleted content so you can then draft a page that from the start is not a BLP violation.--Bbb23 (talk) 13:37, 16 August 2023 (UTC)

It will be a long way, let it go. Just tell, is there a bar on creating the deleted topic once again? I will create it once again, when I'll get time.-Admantine123 (talk) 17:02, 16 August 2023 (UTC)

No, as long as what you create doesn't violate policy.--Bbb23 (talk) 17:38, 16 August 2023 (UTC)
Thanks a lot.-Admantine123 (talk) 18:43, 16 August 2023 (UTC)

3RRN

Concerning this edit - the page on which I reported the editor in question was subject to a 1RR restriction (which was the reason I mentioned CTOP). My understanding is that a page-level 1RR restriction applies (and is reportable to 3RRN) whether or not the violating editor is CTOP-aware. Am I mistaken about that? Newimpartial (talk) 17:37, 17 August 2023 (UTC)

I have a headache. I already commented on this at AN3, but I'm not an expert on CT. ToBeFree, I think you recently addressed this. Doesn't there have to be a formal CT notification before CT sanctions can be imposed?--Bbb23 (talk) 17:43, 17 August 2023 (UTC)
FYI, that pages would benefit from less inexperienced editors. Courcelles (talk) 17:46, 17 August 2023 (UTC)
Also, formal awareness seems to be required for 1RR action? CTOP says “However, breaches of a page restriction may result in a block or editor restriction only if:
  1. The editor was aware that they were editing in a contentious topic, and
  2. The restricted page displayed an editnotice ({{Contentious topics/page restriction editnotice}} or a derived topic-specific template) specifying the page restriction.”
Courcelles (talk) 17:51, 17 August 2023 (UTC)
Now, I'm getting a headache. :) I was asking for a regular EW block because the editor in question violated the 1RR. I wasn't asking for CTOP action. Sigh. Newimpartial (talk) 17:50, 17 August 2023 (UTC)
CTOPs gives us all regular headaches ;) Other than perpetual awareness, I’m not sure this system bought anything more than extra bureaucracy from the DS one. Courcelles (talk) 17:59, 17 August 2023 (UTC)
Heh, thanks for the ping. Hi Bbb23, Newimpartial and Courcelles, page-level restrictions (including 1RR) can only be enforced against users who are formally aware of the topic being contentious (WP:CTOP § Enforcement of restrictions, #1). Courcelles has correctly quoted this above. It doesn't matter much in this case, though, as the block is simply for edit warring. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 19:09, 17 August 2023 (UTC)
(In response to Newimpartial's 17:50 message, the user still has to be aware if a block reason is supposed to be a 1RR violation, even if the block itself isn't a logged CTOP action.) ~ ToBeFree (talk) 19:13, 17 August 2023 (UTC)
I was enjoying a lovely lunch while you guys were answering my question. Thanks for confirming what I thought and for taking the trouble to do so. Just so it's clear, the block log spells out the components of the indefinite block for disruption, and the recent edit-warring was just a cap on a very sorry record of obviously non-neutral editing. Given the user's post-block comments, I see very little hope for their future at Wikipedia.--Bbb23 (talk) 23:18, 17 August 2023 (UTC)

Fuzion Growth

Hello, I was wondering why you had deleted my page on Fuzion Growth. I was actively speaking with another moderator about fixing the page to remove content that would seem like promotional as that was not my goal. Is there a way to still access the content I had written and what can be done to get the page undeleted. Strat4324 (talk) 18:19, 18 August 2023 (UTC)

Why did you move it from draft space to article space? Although promotional articles are not permitted even in draft space, moving it to article space was not a good thing to do.--Bbb23 (talk) 18:26, 18 August 2023 (UTC)
It was not a promotional article. I moved it because the image I had added kept getting deleted as it was not allowed in drafts. I was talking with another mod about deleting any promotional content. Strat4324 (talk) 19:44, 18 August 2023 (UTC)

Block evasion

Hi Bbb23, it looks like the other IP who keeps removing sourced content here might also be a disruptive block evading user. The blocked account JohnGotten. Also using a Brazilian address. They seem super active. Not sure what the stable form of the article would be. Before either of the block evading IP’s appeared? SameHere, the suspected JohnGotten account initiated the removal of content. Seems they started July 14th with mass removal of content.

Shouldn’t that IP have been blocked also for edit warring in both those cases? I see you restored their version but again I’m not sure where or when these two first started disrupting these pages. Hard to tell. It’s a mess. One of them posted on my talk page and appears to be a block evading account too. Should both IP ranges be temporarily blocked? Then again likely won’t stop them. Sigh..OyMosby (talk) 00:36, 23 August 2023 (UTC)

I'm very confused. The links you provide point to the same already-blocked IP. The only IP that isn't blocked is the one that posted to your Talk page. None of them, AFAIK, is a sock of JohnGotten, and none of them geolocate to Brazil but to Croatia.--Bbb23 (talk) 00:56, 23 August 2023 (UTC)
I looked it up. It’s a Brazilian IP. I am referring to one like this 2804:388:410A:AFC5:6CEC:78E:F52C:584C . Who isn’t blocked and is present in all those links. The links I provided are of the other IP as well as the unblocked one. This range appears to be also actively disruptive OyMosby (talk) 01:42, 23 August 2023 (UTC)
The links you provided originally did not point to specific IPs, and I looked at the most recent ones in the history link, and all I saw was the Croatian IP. The IPv6 you're talking about now is from Brazil. As far as I can tell, it's only active (yesterday being the most recent) on the /32 range, which is too wide for me to feel comfortable blocking.--Bbb23 (talk) 01:46, 23 August 2023 (UTC)
Sorry I was not more precise. When I posted the history links I was pointing out both the Croatian and Brazilian IPs. Here is a precise example I am referring to one like this 2804:388:410A:AFC5:6CEC:78E:F52C:584C. If you look at the pages they edit warred on it was the same pages the other blocked IP engaged on. It would appear the Brazilian IP was removing content and is block evading. Here is there last blocked IP 2804:388:6060:4E59:14D2:4CE4:9A2F:93BB. This one you confirmed as JohnGotten. I suspect the other IP is them again editing similar articles. Seems they will just continue. OyMosby (talk) 01:53, 23 August 2023 (UTC)
Did you have a chance to look at the two specific IPs I linked above? Cheers. OyMosby (talk) 13:32, 23 August 2023 (UTC)
The unblocked IP hasn't edited in a few days.--Bbb23 (talk) 13:33, 23 August 2023 (UTC)
Gotcha. Thanks for looking into it. Also, is there a way to have my talk page locked so IPs can’t post? Wasn’t sure if that’s a thing. OyMosby (talk) 13:58, 23 August 2023 (UTC)

Requesting help in raising WP:DUCKTEST and sock puppet investigation

Hi, I'm fairly new and I found out that a user with his multiple accounts is pertaining to persistent edit war. The user also has removed copyright violation template with one of the suspected accounts just before the page was about to get deleted. The user simply removed the template.

Please have a look at this -

Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/TechGenWikinator03

Can you help me more on how to make this report? Thank you.Thewikizoomer (talk) 13:34, 26 August 2023 (UTC)

I fixed a couple of obvious errors in the list of suspected socks, but it would be too much work for me to go through the report. I have a few suggestions, though: (1) wikify articles so it's easier to get to them, (2) use diffs not links, and (3) organize the report by suspected sock; it's very hard to follow as it is.--Bbb23 (talk) 13:50, 26 August 2023 (UTC)
Sure, I'm now trying to improve it keeping the points you have mentioned in mind.
Thank you so much for your time and teaching! Thewikizoomer (talk) 13:55, 26 August 2023 (UTC)

Good block

... here, thank you. I think this is also sockpuppetry – other accounts with closely similar interests seem to be this, this and this – of which the last was indeffed in 2020. Regards, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 20:19, 28 August 2023 (UTC)

Unfortunately, the blocked account was soft-blocked (I don't like soft blocks - they frequently make it hard to prevent future disruption). I deleted the draft just now, though, per WP:G11, a bit of a stretch, but WTH.--Bbb23 (talk) 23:17, 28 August 2023 (UTC)

Hi, please consider switching to the new Move To Draft script. It is fork of the script that you are using, but has some bug fixes, important warnings, and some feature enhancements. Happy editing! -MPGuy2824 (talk) 05:41, 30 August 2023 (UTC)

IP user

Hi,|replying for your point. I can't warn that IP user because, IP U don't have talk page, many editor warned him at 2023 Asia Cup. Tesla car owner (talk) 12:27, 31 August 2023 (UTC)

The IP is apparently now blocked. You can create a Talk page for any user who doesn't already have one.--Bbb23 (talk) 12:34, 31 August 2023 (UTC)
Though ironically the IP user was partially right (but for the wrong reasons); that section either merely duplicated material elsewhere in the article, introduced detail that isn't required, and/or was written in terrible English in places, so I've removed parts of it and fixed the grammar and writing. Arbitration case request opened by Korwinski

(Hi Bbb23, I'm involved due to my closure enforcement. The filing party doesn't appear to have notified you, so I'll copy the default message here.)

You are involved in a recently filed request for arbitration. Please review the request at Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case#Biased interpretation of the 3RR and, if you wish to do so, enter your statement and any other material you wish to submit to the Arbitration Committee. As threaded discussion is not permitted on most arbitration pages, please ensure that you make all comments in your own section only. • A discussion at WP:VPP about revision deletion and oversight for dead names found that [s]ysops can choose to use revdel if, in their view, it's the right tool for this situation, and they need not default to oversight. Somethings fishy!

Hey @Bbb23, Can you please take a look at this?

Akikormin125 and Ant1thes1ser Interaction Timeline

I am assuming Ant1thes1ser is dropping AfD's on most of the articles I have tried to improve thinking its COI. I am not sure if it is a coincidence - Check here

Also not sure if this needs to be an SPI yet, so bringing this here! Jeraxmoira (talk) 07:26, 2 September 2023 (UTC)

I've indeffed Akikormin125 / Ant1thes1ser / ZzzCounter. There was (at least) one more, but it could be claimed as an abandoned account rather than a sock. Materialscientist (talk) 09:10, 2 September 2023 (UTC)
Just noting two things for the record: (1) the oldest of the three accounts is Ant1thes1ser and (2) I've blocked the /64 IP range for one week. Thanks everyone.--Bbb23 (talk) 13:59, 2 September 2023 (UTC)

Aidan Comerford

Hello friend! At WP:BLPN, there was a discussion opened regarding edits at this article. Upon close inspection, it looks a lot like two drawers of socks. I opened WP:SPI discussions for the oldest accounts on each side of a series of SPAs; one over here and the other over there. Any impressions or advice re using CU to identify an editor that logged out to make a legal threat? Or just generally to evade EW/3RR? Thanks as always. JFHJr () 20:17, 2 September 2023 (UTC)

Hey, Bbb23,

I hope you are well. I don't see how this is an attack page. Yes, it is negative as any article about a person who is sanctioned or charged with a crime would be but it seems like these claims are supported by sources. But I didn't want to untag the article without checking with you in case there is something I missed. Thanks. Liz Read! Talk! 20:56, 6 September 2023 (UTC)

Thanks, but it's been declined by another admin.--Bbb23 (talk) 21:38, 6 September 2023 (UTC)

Removal of permissions

Greetings Bbb23, without having to explain a lot further, I would like to have my permissions/user rights removed. The only reason I have requested the rights in the first place was to get reduce the WP:NPP backlog and other spaces which I felt like reviewers take too long to attend, but lately I've been feeling like I'm NOT doing a good job and I would like to help improving the encyclopedia by only creating articles for now 'cause I feel like that's where I excel the most, but without piling up the NPP backlog as I am requesting the WP:Autopatrolled right that's if I am eligible although I believe I meet the minimum requirements and have a good understanding of WP:AfC and WP:NOTABILITY

In conclusion, I would like to have all my rights (excluding IP Block exemptions) removed and would love to have Autopatrolled to minimize reviewers backlog. Thank you. shelovesneo (talk) 06:23, 7 September 2023 (UTC)

ToBeFree, in need of your help. shelovesneo (talk) 10:05, 7 September 2023 (UTC)
shelovesneo, I can remove all permissions (except "extended confirmed", which I can technically also remove but won't). I won't grant one you haven't had before in return, though, and I'd recommend that noone does especially if the quality of your actions, self-perceived or with concerns from others, is under question. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 12:14, 7 September 2023 (UTC)

Have a look

As the last deleting admin for this, i think they are back with a new account. They re-created the article under this name. Admin help answer, further details

@Bbb23

Apologies for not including the reason for admin help previously on Talk:Hated on Mostly#c-Bbb23-20230911184500-Awshort-20230911162100

The user is currently under an IP block by a different admin (@Sarek Of Vulcan) located Special:Contributions/2601:C7:4202:6720:99B9:43D5:CE62:2BF6 and has a multi year history of being generally disruptive for the reasons listed on here

Those were the reasons i had requested the help of an Admin. (I contacted you on your Talk Page rather than reopening the admin help topic, since it suggested either action)

Thank you.

@Bbb23 Can I know according to you what part of the article was promotional? I completely disagree with the article being nominated for CSD. I feel the article was fine, or if had any promo material could be trimmed down instead of deletion. Rejoy2003(talk) 16:29, 14 September 2023 (UTC)

I am willing to restore the article to draft space so you can work on it, but only if you promise to use WP:AFC, meaning you will not move it to article space on your own but instead allow experienced reviewers to evaluate it.--Bbb23 (talk) 17:56, 14 September 2023 (UTC)
You still haven't answered my question though? I find it difficult to believe the whole entire article was promotional. This was completely a hasty decision. Rejoy2003(talk) 19:42, 14 September 2023 (UTC)

Question

You handled the two reports I made on the 3RR page so I hope you can assist me. I was wondering where I would report someone for continuous subtle spam. This editor keeps inserting patently false information into articles but it isn't obvious enough for AIV and would require explanation. ThaddeusSholto (talk) 23:25, 15 September 2023 (UTC)

It's hard to evaluate the problem in the abstract. Who's the editor?--Bbb23 (talk) 23:30, 15 September 2023 (UTC)

The editor is Tuvdtv. Some examples of their edits:

This edit made "P. Craig Russell" into "Peter Craig Russell" when the P. Craig Russell article itself notes that his name is "Philip Craig Russell".

This edit made "J. Charles Haydon" into "John Charles Haydon" even though the J. Charles Haydon notes that his name was "James".

This edit made "P. J. Hogan" into "Peter John Hogan" even though the P. J. Hogan notes that his name is "Paul John Hogan".

Claiming Dr. Watson's middle name was "Henry" which is absolutely false. The character was never given a middle name which is noted in the article itself.

In the Wallace (The Wire) article this editor gave the character the first name "Justin" with no discernable basis. I tried googling this and the only other source was a fan wiki with a first time account that inserted "Justin" the same day Tuvdtv did it here.

In the John F.G. Wade article, this editor continually changed the name to "John Fredric George Wade" with no reference.

Some of these are so blatantly incorrect that I assume the unreferenced ones are just as false. I have given warnings up to a fourth and they never respond. They just don't edit for a few days and then return to start doing it again. It puzzling. ThaddeusSholto (talk) 23:42, 15 September 2023 (UTC)

(Talk page watcher here) Just explain that in your AIV report! Feel free to plagiarize this: "Editor consistently inserts unsupported information contradicted by sourced article text. See diff, diff, and diff, inserting information contradicted by linked articles." No muss, no fuss. - Julietdeltalima (talk) 23:50, 15 September 2023 (UTC)

Question about sock

I see you blocked User:Quintonashford29 as a sockpuppet, but are now reverting all of his edits which were correct - is it necessary that all of the edits by a sock must be reverted, even when that would be making articles have incorrect information and be of poorer quality? BeanieFan11 (talk) 15:23, 16 September 2023 (UTC)

Feel free to reinstate any edits you think are constructive.--Bbb23 (talk) 17:59, 16 September 2023 (UTC)
I had to revert all of these edits. Good thing I caught this or else all the work I had previously checked would've been out of date. Seems like a lot of unnecessary work for all parties. I understand they were blocked, but doesn't mean the work they did was incorrect. Jrooster49 (talk) 19:18, 16 September 2023 (UTC)

Jermboy?

Hi Bbb23, mind taking a look at RandomDuck5000? They caught my eye because of Draft:Health and Safety (Safety Signs and Signals) Regulations. It's not about road signs but still seems similar to other Jermboy drafts/articles. Their User page, which is in German, states they have had a long-term interest in traffic and safety signs (per Google translate). I did some digging into other socks at WP:Sockpuppet investigations/Jermboy27/Archive and found Goadinaloafofbread who did use German in one their edit summaries on de wiki (global contribs) and other accounts have contributed to de as has Random Duck (global contribs). My hesitancy is they have not touched a road sign article which appears atypical for Jermboy and there was back and forth between you and Courcelles about Goadinaloafofbread, indicating they may be some other sock. S0091 (talk) 14:45, 18 September 2023 (UTC)

Technically, Jermboy usually uses proxies and RandomDuck5000 is not doing so. I'm not seeing any CU indications here to point towards sockpuppetry... but of course, behavior can overrule that given the history of Jermboy's proxy use. Courcelles (talk) 14:51, 18 September 2023 (UTC)
Goadinaloafofbread was also using proxies, so... not much help there, either. Courcelles (talk) 14:53, 18 September 2023 (UTC)
Behaviorally, I don't see it. Don't much like the username.--Bbb23 (talk) 14:55, 18 September 2023 (UTC)
Neither do I... the username is a good portion of the reason I ran the check, because it SCREAMS sock. Courcelles (talk) 14:58, 18 September 2023 (UTC)
Yeah, the User name is not the best. Thanks to you both for taking the time. S0091 (talk) 14:59, 18 September 2023 (UTC)

Hello Sir,

why was the Edit warring reverted without giving any proper justification? What is the issue?

I reverted your "report" again. If you want to file a report for edit-warring, you must follow the instructions at the top of WP:AN3. If you wish to file a more generalized report of misconduct, you should do so at WP:ANI.--Bbb23 (talk) 15:46, 22 September 2023 (UTC)

Help me to create an article

Hello there! I'm Nahid. I created a draft of Draft:Sayem Sobhan Anvir. The article was removed many times because previous writers couldn't show notability. Please consider this draft. I'm not a paid writer, he got the attention of people for a girl suicide case. Also, he is an award-winning businessperson. Please take a moment and consider it, and help me to create an article.-Nazrul Islam Nahid (talk) 16:14, 22 September 2023 (UTC)

I've marked the page as a draft. Use WP:AFC to submit the draft for review. Experienced reviewers will give you feedback as to whether you've demonstrated that the subject meets Wikipedia's notablity guidelines. As an administrator, it's not something I do.--Bbb23 (talk) 16:26, 22 September 2023 (UTC)

Frank DeArmon Whitney

Hi, I'm not sure what has happened at this article? Have I just reinstated something I shouldn't? I looked at the history and there seems to have been some back and forth with what is included, some of the reverts were yours. Could you take a look please and advise, many thanks, Knitsey (talk) 21:08, 22 September 2023 (UTC)

In my WP:INVOLVED view, the article should be restored back to before the IP. The IP is part of a range that is now blocked for two weeks after I filed a report at WP:AN3. I don't feel comfortable in reverting because I had already reverted 3x yesterday. What the IP did was not quite vandalism, it was just a bunch of very messy, poorly crafted, WP:UNDUE changes that also, if you look, messed up the References section. The IP has a thing against the judge.--Bbb23 (talk) 21:12, 22 September 2023 (UTC)
I've just read through it again and I think I was wrong to revert. The new editor has now deleted it again so I think I will leave them an apology for reverting and leave it as it is. Thanks so much for taking a look. Knitsey (talk) 21:18, 22 September 2023 (UTC)
That's not quite right. The new editor did revert the IP changes but also added a new section. Your revert to before the IP edits removed that section. The new section is not as disruptive as what the IP did, but there are at a minimum some wording issues with it. Also, it's not clear it should be placed in its own section. I'd have to give it more thought than just skimming it.--Bbb23 (talk) 22:06, 22 September 2023 (UTC)
In the end I reverted back to your edit so that the ref list and footer was corrected and the intro reinstated. I did leave them a message stating why I reverted right back.
Sorry I messed up. Knitsey (talk) 22:21, 22 September 2023 (UTC)
No need to apologize. You were thrust into a messy business, compounded by the edits of the new editor, which, unfortunately, many of us automatically view with suspicion. Personally, I'm fine with the article being back the way it was. :-) --Bbb23 (talk) 22:27, 22 September 2023 (UTC)
Yeah, I should have compared the versions and then looked at the history on that one before reverting. But, thanks for taking a look at it. Every Wikipedia edit is a lesson, or some such blurb, Knitsey (talk) 22:31, 22 September 2023 (UTC)

Loose end

Hi Bbb. I'm trying to detox from admin work right now, but tying off a few loose ends. Magnatyrannus (talk · contribs), who you and I conditionally unblocked a few months apart, has shifted to editing as TheLibyanGuy (talk · contribs). As I'm not currently an admin, it's not really my call whether that violates the 1-account restriction I imposed, but my peanut-gallery view would be that it complies with the letter, but not the spirit, and that the past account should be disclosed on the new userpage (currently it's only the other way around). If you're inclined to handle this differently, by all means; just figured this should be on someone's radar. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she|they|xe) 04:36, 24 September 2023 (UTC)

I used to have WP:BN on my watchlist, but no more, although I'm not really sure why, so I wasn't aware that you had temporarily resigned. I'm sorry to hear you're having RL problems. I hope things go well for you.
As for the new account created by Magnatyrannus, I agree with you that they need to disclose the M account on TLG account's userpage. Honestly, I don't understand why M just didn't request a rename, so much easier to track for everyone, but people do all sorts of things on Wikipedia that make no sense to me. Before I talk to the user, I'm going to ping the three other admins who were involved in the unblocking last November in case they have any thoughts: @DatGuy, Ponyo, and ScottishFinnishRadish:.--Bbb23 (talk) 11:48, 24 September 2023 (UTC)
Is this meant to be a clean start? If so, I'd hope they asked one of you for permission first as it is otherwise disallowed under Wikipedia:Clean start#Criteria and could be easily construed as an attempt to evade scrutiny.
If there's another more reasonable reason, it should be made clear they were previously Magnatyrannus. A clearly visible sentence or userbox in their new userpage should be the minimum, possibly even a mention of their existing restrictions such as is on the User:Magnatyrannus. DatGuyTalkContribs 13:12, 24 September 2023 (UTC)
@Magnatyrannus and TheLibyanGuy: Like DatGuy, I too would like to know your reason for creating a new account.--Bbb23 (talk) 13:34, 24 September 2023 (UTC)
I decided to use a new account because I couldn't fully access the email for my old one, so I decided to create a new one on a different account. I was not trying to evade scrutiny or anything, or a new start. TheLibyanGuy (talk) 18:14, 24 September 2023 (UTC)
@TheLibyanGuy: Two things I don't understand. First, what do you mean by "fully access"? Second, if e-mail is that important to you, why did you not associate an e-mail address with the new account?--Bbb23 (talk) 18:18, 24 September 2023 (UTC)
1. The old email was actually, in fact, a shared email, it was shared with my brother, and now that my brother owns it, I found it difficult to sign back into my old account, also, seeing as the password is now changed, I can no longer use my old account. I could only access the password of the Wikipedia account on my phone.
2. The current email address, the one I widely use is the one associated with my new account. TheLibyanGuy (talk) 18:38, 24 September 2023 (UTC)
Looks to me like you've gone ahead and created a userpage for TLG that addresses the admin concerns expressed here, so unless someone objects, you're good to go. I am kind of curious, though, why it is not possible to e-mail you using your new account ("Email this user" is not displayed on the left sidebar under Tools). Did you associate an e-mail address with the new account but then prevent other editors from e-mailing you? Not too many editors do that in my experience.--Bbb23 (talk) 19:43, 24 September 2023 (UTC)
I agree. A user page notification, as well as their restrictions makes sense in this case. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 13:30, 24 September 2023 (UTC)

Please reconsider your warning

I don't understand why you gave me a warning. I clearly meant to say that the users' content is pro-Turkish biased. And I clearly did not mean to insult them in anyway. Mentioning that someone might be biased is now considered attacking them? That's taking a bit too far...don't you think? I apologize if my wording came out wrong. But what I meant to say is that the editor's content is pro-Turkish biased. CatmanBw (talk) 20:43, 24 September 2023 (UTC)

The warning stands. I came close to blocking you based on your post-warning comments at WP:ANI, which demonstrate at best a complete lack of understanding as to what constitutes a personal attack, compounded by a case of WP:IDHT. I'll make it simple for you: do not bring up what you think are another editor's motivations for their edits. Stick to commenting only on the merits of the content of the edit. If you can't do that, you risk being blocked.--Bbb23 (talk) 20:55, 24 September 2023 (UTC)
Okay. This is not explicitly mentioned in the rules, which might make it confusing to some. In Wikipedia:No personal attacks....it says: Note that it is not a personal attack to question an editor about their possible conflict of interest on a specific article or topic. CatmanBw (talk) 21:17, 24 September 2023 (UTC)
Please stop quoting that line over and over again. It pertains to other conflicts of interest, not nationalistic biases. If I were you, I would also stop posting any comments at ANI. You're not doing yourself any good at all.--Bbb23 (talk) 21:20, 24 September 2023 (UTC)
Why do I have to stop posting? Because some people disagree with me means that I have to shut my mouth and move on? Are we not allowed to have a discussion anymore either? CatmanBw (talk) 21:24, 24 September 2023 (UTC)

I'm not sure if you can help with this?

I might be completely wrong on this, but have you (or any tps) seen this draft before? Draft:Smile Kids Jr. with TeenNick (TV Series). I'm sure this has been created a number of times fairly recently? I've no idea how to find that info. Thanks, Knitsey (talk) 22:17, 24 September 2023 (UTC)

SPI

Re Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Unserefahne: the IP is part of a /32 that’s only pblocked from my talk page — which won’t prevent it socking in mainspace. (Apologies if I’m misunderstanding anything here.)

Best, user:A smart kittenmeow 13:58, 27 September 2023 (UTC)

No, it's I who misread the block. I thought the IP range was pblocked from editing the university article. That said, the IP's made only one edit, and the university article has now been semi-protected, so there's nothing to do unless the IP resumes disruption somewhere else.--Bbb23 (talk) 14:01, 27 September 2023 (UTC)
Yeah, if there's more useful semis please do let me know, but I felt a semi on the university article was more effective than whack-a-mole on IPv6! Courcelles (talk) 14:03, 27 September 2023 (UTC)
@Courcelles Yeah, thinking about it I might just go to RFPP instead of SPI if I notice anything more like this (if you think that’s best). I originally thought SPI was best as it would be the ‘official’ place, but you’re right about the fact that it’s like IPv6 whackamole. Best, user:A smart kittenmeow 14:13, 27 September 2023 (UTC)

Can you review this please? Thank you, -- Ooligan (talk) 06:09, 27 September 2023 (UTC)

I assume you want me to block the IP as evading A1Cafel's block. The single IP hasn't made very many edits, the last one of which was a couple of days ago. Instead, I blocked Special:contributions/219.78.190.0/23 for 3 months, which I'd blocked back in 2016 for the same period. The range has been much more active over a longer period of time. I think that will be more effective for a while anyway.--Bbb23 (talk) 12:50, 27 September 2023 (UTC)
@Bbb23. Thanks you for your review and action. Should I notify the Commons CU about this? -- Ooligan (talk) 22:59, 27 September 2023 (UTC)
It looks like the /16 range is already blocked on Commons. BTW, you don't have to ping me on my Talk page.--Bbb23 (talk) 23:07, 27 September 2023 (UTC)
Sorry about the ping. Thank you again for your time. -- Ooligan (talk) 23:35, 27 September 2023 (UTC)

Global lock request

Hi, I'm writing as a follow-up to a previous report on sockpuppetry. There, you've requested a global lock for Sirgûcî due to evident cross-wiki abuse. Apparently, KelêÛxelfetî's block was temporary on the Kurdish Wikipedia, so is it possible to request a global lock outside a formal report? Aintabli (talk) 19:16, 26 September 2023 (UTC)

Yes, but you'd have to go to Meta to do it. When I do it at SPI, there is a script that does it for me. I agree that that account should be globally locked, no different from any of the other socks in that case.--Bbb23 (talk) 22:22, 26 September 2023 (UTC)
Many thanks for your response. I wasn't really sure about the procedure, since I did not spend much time there. I actually tried reporting through Meta just now. I set TwinkleGlobal (or I think I did), if that would help, and it never finished processing. When I checked the relevant page, it appears I can't edit it. I am not sure if you have to earn a specific privilege to edit that page. I don't know how I missed the notice, but the page is semi-protected indefinitely, so that's why I can't edit. Aintabli (talk) 22:47, 26 September 2023 (UTC)
(edit conflict) The page is semi-protected, and you haven't made enough edits to be autoconfirmed on Meta. Perhaps Wim b, the steward who glocked Sirgûcî (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log), would glock the other account without a formal request at Meta, assuming he gets this ping (he's not around much on en.wiki).--Bbb23 (talk) 22:58, 26 September 2023 (UTC)
What is the name of the second user? because KelêÛxelfetî is not a global user and it doesn't even exist in ku.wiki, it's just a redirect. Is it Baran Agir? Wim b 12:58, 29 September 2023 (UTC)
sorry: ping @Aintabli Wim b 12:59, 29 September 2023 (UTC)
@Wim b Yes, they just recently renamed their account. It's now "Baran Agir". Aintabli (talk) 13:02, 29 September 2023 (UTC)

Hello. This thread, which you removed, has been re-worded and reposted here by a new user, who is almost certainly a sockpuppet of Vizorblaze. Could you please address it? Also pinging @Firefangledfeathers because they are familiar with the situation. Thanks. Philomathes2357 (talk) 03:16, 29 September 2023 (UTC)

Working on a SPI filing now. This stuff is so lame. Sorry this keeps happening to you. Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 03:22, 29 September 2023 (UTC)
Thanks. It was pretty upsetting at first but it's become routine. Flattering, in a way. Dude spends more time thinking about me than most of my IRL friends. Pretty sure the sock master will be uncovered soon. Philomathes2357 (talk) 03:57, 29 September 2023 (UTC)
The same thing that was happening with the IP is happening with UsernameUnderDuress. All those admins and none blocks the user. I've indeffed them. I've reverted their edits to the SPI and I've deleted their sandbox per WP:G10.--Bbb23 (talk) 13:32, 29 September 2023 (UTC)
Thanks Bbb23. I've already pushed the bounds of my involvedness in this matter, so I've been hesitant to take direct admin action. No problem, TBH, I didn't even know you were involved. I've been kind of on the periphery of all this, acting more like a hatchet man than anything else. :-) Are you still going to take care of filing a report at SPI? That would be helpful.--Bbb23 (talk) 13:42, 29 September 2023 (UTC)
It's already filed. It's the one you reverted UUD at. Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 13:50, 29 September 2023 (UTC)

Wytze Russchen

Hi, the problems with Wytze Russchen continue. Now a new (or poss 'new') user has taken it to AfD (Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Wytze Russchen) but hasn't done it correctly, and has then gone on to mess about and bring in what looks like (but probably isn't) an SPI case. Can you make any sense of it? I sure can't... -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 07:22, 1 October 2023 (UTC)

Yeah, I've blocked the new named user for block evasion/socking and deleted the AfD per G5.--Bbb23 (talk) 13:09, 1 October 2023 (UTC)

22:20, 29 September 2023 deleted page User:Fccarner/sandbox (U5: Misuse of Wikipedia as a blog)

I understand the housekeeping. I must have taken too long to draft a replacement for the "Pulaski Heights (Little Rock)" article. Help Pages recommended performing complete re-write using User Sandbox.

I think by your deleting my sandbox edits, I lost content. I'll recreate it off platform but I am worried about re-submitting via Sandbox again since the content is going to be near identical to that which was mistaken as blog content. Please advise or direct to resources that will guide me. Fccarner (talk) 22:35, 29 September 2023 (UTC)

What Help pages recommend using your sandbox to completely rewrite an article? I've gutted the Pulaski Heights article as it was unreferenced, unencyclopedic, and promotional. Unfortunately, your sandbox is also completely unacceptable. I don't know what to tell you. I'm not going to encourage you to keep working on an article that is in such bad shape. Perhaps you should spend some time learning more about how Wikipedia works and editing existing articles in a constructive fashion? If that goes well, what needs to be done to your sandbox should become apparent.--Bbb23 (talk) 13:28, 1 October 2023 (UTC)

thanks

I was just trying to wade through this whole thing. Do you even understand what it was all about? Between the apparently tangential stuff about the Gregorian calendar, the red (quote from an edit summary?), the green (quote from...somewhere?), and the links to a cartoon (that was supposed to illustrate something?), the links to entire pages instead of any kind of diff...I was wondering if maybe I just need more coffee. Valereee (talk) 13:39, 1 October 2023 (UTC)

I'd skip the coffee. You might then understand the IP's garbage. Better to remain in blissful uncaffeinated ignorance.--Bbb23 (talk) 13:41, 1 October 2023 (UTC)

Good one

Thanks for this, I had my suspicion as i declined a few of their articles but they were persistent anyway. I just don't know how to really spot them out but am learning. Again thanks and great work! Jamiebuba (talk) 19:17, 1 October 2023 (UTC)

ANI

Don’t do that again please. The thread was originally about Philomath and there’s more than enough evidence for sanctioning. I’m sorry it devolved into a shit-show but this user needs action taken against them. Dronebogus (talk) 18:17, 9 October 2023 (UTC)

@Dronebogus: If you undo my close again, I will block you.--Bbb23 (talk) 18:18, 9 October 2023 (UTC)
“I’m an admin, I make the rules” isn’t an explanation. Dronebogus (talk) 18:19, 9 October 2023 (UTC)
"I'm an editor community-banned from XfD and warned against involved clerking many times; I'll just undo this close" will be a poorer explanation of Dronebogus's attempt to re-open a (neutrally) closed ANI discussion in which they had direct involvement. I can't believe Dronebogus thinks this is acceptable behavior after all these warnings and sanctions. BusterD (talk) 18:38, 9 October 2023 (UTC)
I didn’t know you could “community topic ban” someone. In any case it was a mistake to revert the close, bad as it may be, and I’ve asked another admin for a second opinion (which I probably should have done to begin with). Dronebogus (talk) 18:49, 9 October 2023 (UTC)

Bbb23, since when is providing evidence (of malign activities that threaten Wikipedia's goals and threaten and dox editors in good standing) a problem? Yes, the evidence may be provided by some suspicious accounts who just happen to be supporting the aims of Wikipedia in good faith, but even Doug Weller has vouched for the accuracy of some of the evidence, yet you have hidden that evidence. Your activities, wittingly or unwittingly, hide evidence of the malign activities of these fringe and other blocked editors, as well as protect Philomath's very problematic behavior. You are literally endangering good-faith editors. Doxing and harassment have very real consequences. Like it or not, you become responsible for those consequences.

Philomaths was unblocked by Bishonen on condition they stopped a long list of provenly disruptive activities, which they immediately resumed, full blast, after their block expired. You are stopping the process of dealing with that problem. Closing that ANI thread is a really destructive move. Please undo that close (and maybe hat some of the discussion so the focus is on Philomath's behavior). The thread needs to be resolved with a decision about how to stop Philomaths from continuing their bad behavior. -- Valjean (talk) (PING me) 17:20, 10 October 2023 (UTC)

Send the evidence to arbcom via email. Don't open more ANI. Andre🚐 17:54, 10 October 2023 (UTC)

Question About Edit Warring Concern

Hello Bbb23! Recently, you had ruled that this had no violation of edit warring policy. I know you're probably very busy, but if you have the time, can you please provide me some more feedback as to why there is no violation? Had I made an error in the process? I'm new to the process of reporting people for edit warring so I apologize if I made a mistake. Thank you. Atinoua (talk) 14:05, 12 October 2023 (UTC)

Two reverts is not edit-warring. You reverted twice yourself. You should not have filed the report.--Bbb23 (talk) 14:34, 12 October 2023 (UTC)--Bbb23 (talk) 14:34, 12 October 2023 (UTC)
Thank you for the clarification, Bbb23. Just to be crystal clear, if the user I reported adds their suggestion 1 more time within 24 hours, without reaching consensus on the talk page first, that's when I should file the report? I appreciate your help. Atinoua (talk) 17:33, 12 October 2023 (UTC)
It takes 4 reverts to violate WP:3RR. An admin may block an editor for edit-warring after 3 reverts, but that depends on the circumstances.--Bbb23 (talk) 18:14, 12 October 2023 (UTC)

Notice must remain

If my notice should remain at Grandmaster's page, then how come he was allowed to open an SPI case against me without leaving a notice for me? Why are the rules different between the ANI and SPI? I only found out about the SPI case because another person (JM2023) messaged me. Jargo Nautilus (talk) 11:03, 16 October 2023 (UTC)

Different noticeboards have different rules. Many administrative noticeboards require notification, but SPI does not. JM2023 complained about the same thing. See Wikipedia talk:Sockpuppet investigations/Archive 24#Are editors supposed to be forewarned or informed of SPIs against them?.--Bbb23 (talk) 11:05, 16 October 2023 (UTC)

Care to explain your revert on your talkpage?

Hello, so you reverted my question asking why my G2 nomination for a clear test image was declined for the reason "attitude". I placed a G2 nomination on the page File:KiranBOT II.jpg because it is a test image, and you declined it with zero reason. I then asked you why on your talk page, and you reverted my question for no reason. Please explain why. I was thinking to already escalate to WP:AN/I, but just giving a second chance. Thanks, —Matr1x-101 (Ping me when replying) {user page (@ commons) - talk} 16:59, 16 October 2023 (UTC)

NOTWEBHOST

Bbb, what do you make of this? They have more edits on what weird user page of theirs than in the entirely of main space. Drmies (talk) 17:08, 16 October 2023 (UTC)

I dunno. It's unfortunate that WP:U5 is "restricted". The editor has edited in article space, and recently at that, but as I'm sure you know, their topic area is not something I know anything about. I mean, if it were blatant vandalism, it'd be easy. Have you reviewed their edits? I also noticed that they do not respond to the many, many warnings on their Talk page. I'd be tempted to block them for a combination of reasons, but am reluctant to do so if their article edits are constructive. Not sure how much help that is.--Bbb23 (talk) 17:23, 16 October 2023 (UTC)
I hear you on the restriction--I wish there was a box to check, "their webhost edits completely overwhelm their mainspace edits". I looked at some of their work, and it's just tiny, incremental little things. I will check again. Thanks Bbb. Drmies (talk) 19:06, 16 October 2023 (UTC)

New sock

Hi again, not my day today (sleep deprived). Was going to ping you here but made a typo [34]. As per WP:DUCK, I dare say it's a sock (and not a new user miraculously finding an obscure article to continue a newly blocked user's edit war). Jeppiz (talk) 15:32, 18 October 2023 (UTC)

Question

This (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Dreamy_Jazz#Sockpuppetry) is making me rather uncomfortable, i wish DreamyJazz would drop their two cents there but it just isn't happening.

For the record, since it happened there, the following: i know i should ALWAYS edit logged on, but the reasons for not doing it are explained there. My IP at home is dynamic for reasons that escape me, but the one from my place of work is this one (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/193.137.135.5). Should you or anyone "catch" me in any wrongdoing while using that address, please do notify me.

Attentively (and again), sorry for any inconvenience i may have stirred up! RevampedEditor (talk) 18:37, 17 October 2023 (UTC)

I think you should bow out of this and stop worrying about it. As for your edits, I'm not interested in tracking either your edits as a named account or as an IP, although generally I recommend against editing while not logged in. Depending on the circumstances, though, it is permissible.--Bbb23 (talk) 18:51, 17 October 2023 (UTC)

I see the IP has been reverted at the João Palhinha article (as well as others), but i have lost interest in that article and this situation overall. I also see that: 1 - DreamyJazz finally wrote an input in their talk, but if it was of relevance i can not tell; 2 - the legal threats continue, seemingly escalating wordwise.

Attentively again --RevampedEditor (talk) 15:37, 18 October 2023 (UTC)

There is a good chance that Nayak u mahen (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) is a sock of the blocked account based on the editing of the same articles, repeatedly creating the same articles, falsifying AfC acceptance, etc. Perhaps you'd like to take a look into it as well? Invitation to Cornell study on Wikipedia discussions

Hello Bbb23,

I’m reaching out as part of a Cornell University academic study investigating the potential for user-facing tools to help improve discussion quality within Wikipedia discussion spaces (such as talk pages, noticeboards, etc.). We chose to reach out to you because you have been highly active on various discussion pages.

The study centers around a prototype tool, ConvoWizard, which is designed to warn Wikipedia editors when a discussion they are replying to is getting tense and at risk of derailing into personal attacks or incivility. More information about ConvoWizard and the study can be found at our research project page on meta-wiki.

If this sounds like it might be interesting to you, you can use this link to sign up and install ConvoWizard. Of course, if you are not interested, feel free to ignore this message.

If you have any questions or thoughts about the study, our team is happy to discuss! You may direct such comments to me or to my collaborator, Cristian_at_CornellNLP.

Thank you for your consideration.

WP:SO

Hi there. Do you know if WP:SO applies to topic bans? I can't seem to find an answer. ‑‑Neveselbert (talk · contribs · email) 20:59, 22 October 2023 (UTC)

Seriously? Have you read it? It does not.--Bbb23 (talk) 21:51, 22 October 2023 (UTC)
Yes, I have, and it states Usually, a user may request appeal of block or ban after a period (usually six months) without sockpuppetry. The purpose of the period is to demonstrate that they can follow simple, clear instructions, so that they may be more likely to abide by community rules. I'm not seeing any reason why this can't apply also to topic bans. ‑‑Neveselbert (talk · contribs · email) 23:09, 22 October 2023 (UTC)
As it states in other parts of the essay, the standard offer applies to indefinite blocks and site bans, not topic bans. Please don't post any more of your wikilawyering here again. You have not ceased to rail against your ban, and you've become so disruptive in that regard, you risk being blocked for it. You've been told repeatedly by me and by ScottishFinnishRadish to stop, and yet you haven't stopped.--Bbb23 (talk) 23:20, 22 October 2023 (UTC)
Yeah, at this point they either need to just drop it, or go to WP:AN and get sanctioned there by the community for disruptively wikilawyering. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 23:33, 22 October 2023 (UTC)
I'll drop it, and I apologise for bargaining. I've got mental health diagnoses of my own I have to grapple with daily, and I hope by the time a year has passed I'll be a better editor. ‑‑Neveselbert (talk · contribs · email) 21:25, 24 October 2023 (UTC)

BananaBreadPie12

Hi, Bbb23. You blocked BananaBreadPie12 in February. The editor made several unblock requests of the "I never did anything wrong how dare you block me" genre, first on their talk page and then on UTRS. However, they have now come back to UTRS after more than six months since the last time, and posted an unblock request very different from the earlier ones. They accept that what they did was trolling, and have changed their attitude over that time. I don't see any reason why we shouldn't give them a chance to prove that they have changed, of course on the understanding that if they prove they haven't then the block will come back immediately. Do you have any comment to make? JBW (talk) 20:24, 27 October 2023 (UTC)

I didn't notice it because it wasn't on my watchlist (I tend to put socks on my watchlist, but for a limited time). Anyway, the new tag is bullshit, and I think the user tagging these accounts, as well as many others, should be blocked, but I see someone else has left them a stern warning, so I'm not going to step in. I didn't review other tags the user created or adjusted or whatevered.--Bbb23 (talk) 20:43, 27 October 2023 (UTC)

In January you reviwed this sock unblock request where it was found that was evading his block through IPs. Since April, after his account Ralx888 was blocked, he has been on a trolling spree and harassing me at every opportunity. Could you expand on what user:Akifjanjua did to earn a block? Even when I look at the deleted contribs, I don't see anything particularly disruptive. Thanks. DS (talk) 19:47, 29 October 2023 (UTC)

Oh gosh, we must have a very different view of what constitutes disruptive editing. Every single article edit was disruptive in some fashion. One included an edit summary that was a lie. And then of course they could have been blocked solely as a promotion-only account.--Bbb23 (talk) 19:58, 29 October 2023 (UTC)

Hello. Thanks for handling an AlanCity20 sock. However, another account that I added later, Japangamespokemon, has not been processed. If possible, could you have a look at them too.

P.S. a question on procedure: For these kind of additions, which way is preferred?

  1. Add them onto the previous Suspected sockpuppets list
  2. Add them as a reply to the previous filing (as I did this time)
  3. File a new section

-- Wotheina (talk) 05:00, 3 November 2023 (UTC)

Add them to the suspected sock list, in this instance both the named account and the IP range. As long as no one else has touched the report, you can add your evidence in the same section. Because you hadn't put them in the list I failed to notice them. If someone else has edited the report before you have socks to add, then your evidence should normally go in the Comments by other users section. If what I've said isn't clear, let me know. I blocked the IP range, but I was unsure about the named account and commented to that effect. I also reopened the report. Although I didn't request it, I'm thinking maybe a CU should be done for the named account.--Bbb23 (talk) 12:52, 3 November 2023 (UTC)
I see. Thanks for processing and relisting the case. Wotheina (talk) 15:24, 3 November 2023 (UTC)

Restoring United Republicans (Argentina)

Hello, a few days ago you deleted the page United Republicans (Argentina) under G5. Could you please restore the page since it was deleted based on the creator and not the article itself? I'm unaware if the why the user who created it was blocked but if it's something related to false information in articles then it's fine to not. -- Cosmic6811 🍁 (T · C) 18:45, 6 November 2023 (UTC)

I can't speak for Bbb23, but the deleted article is very short and hard to follow. The first very short paragraph notes that it is a political party, which is followed by a sentence that starts "He is a member", without mentioning who "he" is, then there is a final sentence "She participated" without any reference to who "she" is. You would be better off just creating the article yourself if you believe the topic is notable.-- Ponyobons mots 21:01, 6 November 2023 (UTC)
You can speak for me anytime you like. I tend to agree with Ponyo, but I can see you were working on it at the same time as the sock, so you should have some idea of the state it was in before I deleted it. If you still want the article restored because you prefer fixing a bad article rather than creating a new one from scratch, that's fine. If so, perhaps it would be best to restore it to draft space so you can clean it up before publishing it to article space. Several choices on the menu for you - let me know which one you wish to order.--Bbb23 (talk) 21:09, 6 November 2023 (UTC)

Challenging Bad Faith Edits

Hello and good day.

Sorry if I am disturbing your topic page, but I am currently seeking advice for the Gorals page. I believe that a user is editing articles and faking the contents of references provided. I have attempted to establish consensus through a comprehensive list of trusted sources within the article's talk page, but the user in question has either not looked or (considering their eager reply activity when users don't come prepared with sources) ignoring it. If you could point me in the right direction on how to correctly resolve this and make my case I would appreciate that. Thank you.

I tried Reddit and they weren't much help in explaining the process, and I saw that you have previously blocked the person in question in the past temporarily for edit warring, so I just saw that you're an admin and might know. Sorry again if disturbing. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:EmilePersaud 12:06, 14 November 2023 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by EmilePersaud (talkcontribs)
The Gorals article hasn't been edited since September. If you're talking about a problem with a particular user's recent conduct, you should take it to WP:ANI. I can't imagine going to Reddit for advice on Wikipedia processes, but the world is a strange place.--Bbb23 (talk) 13:36, 14 November 2023 (UTC)
Largely people ask other sites because when asking good faith questions here they usually get baited by irrelevant monologues. Thanks for the link you provided I hope I can resolve my issue, bye bye :) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:EmilePersaud 14:19, 15 November 2023 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by EmilePersaud (talkcontribs)

tldr fix on Talk:Kalki Bhagavan

Hi!

I took your feedback at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Kalki_Bhagawan#Evidence_of_biased_colluded_editing_on_this_page_violating_BLPCOI_and_NPOVFACT under advisement and made an attempt to make the talk page entry more readable. I have specifically made an attempt to

  • make the section more readable
  • with a short summary at the top
  • split out each point into headings with a tldr subheading for each point which makes it clear what are the violations - you should be able to use the left panel (on a laptop/ desktop at least) to easily navigate
  • numbered arguments and facts within each heading for better reasoning through the post
  • made links to short form (hopefully that cuts down 10% straight) wherever possible
  • cut out unnecessary words about repeated disclaimer with a single disclaimer at the top.
  • made clear what are the admin requests (3 in number)
  • made a separate admin help section at the top

With my present knowledge and skill level, I could not remove more, without losing information and I really do need help.

Do you have any other suggestions :)? I am happy to make the reading experience a little more pleasant and committed to make it as painless as I can. Please tell me how with pointers and am happy to give it another shot.

Cheers

Made many more changes, shortened by 3x and made it crisper. Do let me know how it looks now.

It is an improvement but still way too long and complicated. I looked at the summary and then glanced at the rest. It sounds like your complaint is about the state of Kalki Bhagawan, even though it hasn't been edited since September, and about two editors, one who also hasn't edited since September and the other who hasn't edited since 2022. You're claiming that there are multiple BLP violations both in the article and on the Talk page, and that the two editors are either sock puppets or meat puppets. My advice, which is based only on a quick look at all of this, is you take the BLP issues in the article - BLP violations on Talk pages are much more difficult to demonstrate - to WP:BLPN and see if you can get more experienced editors to address them, and that, at least for the moment, drop the editor conduct issue. If you don't shorten your presentation, though, at BLPN to maybe a few paragraphs, with diffs, you may not get very much traction from other editors. Focus on what you think are the most obvious BLP violations and don't drag into it extraneous or tangential issues.--Bbb23 (talk) 13:53, 14 November 2023 (UTC)
Thanks for your input to shorten my presentation. Clearly not one of my strengths yet.
The major issue with Kalki Bhagavan it has been completely vandalised by 2 editors and 1 is a senior editor from 2007.
Regarding your suggestion to post on Wikipedia:BLPN, did that on 2/September [40]. User:NatGertler agreed on sourcing problems and NPOV template was added. After that there was no other editor who came to help and nothing happened.
In my latest complaint have provided several evidences. Yet, admins are reluctant to take action.
I will try again. Hibiscus192255 (talk) 02:05, 15 November 2023 (UTC)
Hi User:Bbb23 the page needs admin attention, see clear WP:PRIVACY violation. One of the editors in complaint User:MerlinVtwelve has revealed multiple pieces of information about a previous editor, who I understand is last seen 3 years ago. Possibly WP:DOX pieces could be used to identify the editor - referring to them by their previous username, part of previous username violating WP:PRIVACY. twice[41][42] in the last 24 hours, possibly WP:HA. Hibiscus192255 (talk) 23:22, 16 November 2023 (UTC)
I am not going to do anything. If you feel that this constitutes WP:OUTING, you should contact the WP:OS team (there are instructions at this link on how to do that). If you believe it constitutes some other kind of misconduct, you should bring it to WP:ANI.--Bbb23 (talk) 01:28, 17 November 2023 (UTC)

The second declined ArbCom case

The case filed by ToosieJoosie was incomprehensible, and raises competency issues. In other words, I think that the block was reasonable. Robert McClenon (talk) 02:42, 18 November 2023 (UTC)

Sock?

Hi there, been a little while. Sorry to add to your workload but can you help me check this ? After I moved this to draft, the user moved back to mainspace and removed the warning on their tp for UPE. Thanks in advance. Jamiebuba (talk) 13:46, 19 November 2023 (UTC)

I don't understand. Who do you think this user is a sock of? If you think they are an undisclosed paid editor, you should take the matter to WP:ANI, but it's often difficult to prove. You shouldn't be moving articles to draft space more than once, though. Even if it's the "right" space for the page to be, it's frowned upon because you really aren't entitled to impose your will on other editors. If the reason it should be in draft space is because it doesn't meet notability guidelines, then you should take it to AfD.--Bbb23 (talk) 14:02, 19 November 2023 (UTC)
Understood, thanks a lot. Jamiebuba (talk) 15:40, 19 November 2023 (UTC)

Ain Fekan

Hello, So for short i did a small revision about this town's history, and you undid the revision even if i provided a reliable source that proves that it happend, and if you have a reason, your free to say it. Thanks, TBATlol TBATlol (talk) 18:55, 21 November 2023 (UTC)

My edit summary said it.--Bbb23 (talk) 18:59, 21 November 2023 (UTC)
How is mess a reason? TBATlol (talk) 19:31, 21 November 2023 (UTC)

Sock

Heads-up because I saw you did a "revert sock" on 1981 in the United States. That user is still at it under a new name. Fred Zepelin (talk) 20:59, 21 November 2023 (UTC)

User:GothicGolem29

Hi, you recently blocked this user for edit warring, now that the block's over they seem to be straight back into it. Should I report it on the edit warring noticeboard again or are you ok to deal with it? Thanks. JaggedHamster (talk) 12:27, 22 November 2023 (UTC)

I've blocked the user for one week and warned them about a potential indefinite block if they do this again after expiration of the block.--Bbb23 (talk) 13:53, 22 November 2023 (UTC)

User:Michellelaylo

COI editor constantly adding promotional edits, changing/reverting The Kanoo Group. Any chance of a swift and permanent block? Best Alexandermcnabb (talk) 07:54, 22 November 2023 (UTC)

I've blocked the user for WP:UPE and tagged the article for WP:G11. As to the latter, I don't understand why no one has done that before - unless I missed it in the lengthy history.--Bbb23 (talk) 14:00, 22 November 2023 (UTC)
Hi, thanks for that - it was getting very irritating! Kanoo is a huge conglomerate here, so an article on it would be more than valid - but the article did indeed veer between just about acceptable/too detailed/badly sourced to madly purple through the history that I've seen of it... A fresh start is probably what it needs! Best Alexandermcnabb (talk) 14:11, 22 November 2023 (UTC)

Something of a quack

Requesting a quick look at a likely DUCK of blocked user Abhisheksuvarna17, who was blocked for adding copyright-violating, non-neutral content to Saint Philomena College, Puttur. WikiExplorerAbhi has been doing the same while also adding promotional drafts to the mix. Any admin TPSs are also invited to take a gander. ~ Pbritti (talk) 18:22, 24 November 2023 (UTC)

  • Pretty obvious. Blocked, draft articles deleted. Black Kite (talk) 18:46, 24 November 2023 (UTC)

Vedika Dutt

Hello, I hope you're doing well. What's the similarities between the articles, Vedieka Dutt and Vedika Dutt? Thanks for your consideration. — C1K98V (💬 ✒️ 📂) 12:00, 25 November 2023 (UTC)

They are fairly similar. I assume the implication is that Umar Ali Haque, the author of the new version, created it with a slightly different name to avoid being associated with Jhingur Mahan Chand, a blocked sock of Amansharma111. The SPI for that master has had some very recent activity, Ivanvector having run a check, although he didn't uncover UAH in that check. I suspect that UAH is a sock, but I'm not confident enough to block behaviorally. Perhaps Ivanvector would be willing to run a check directly on the account. As for pure behavior, SmartSE probably knows more about it than I do.--Bbb23 (talk) 13:46, 25 November 2023 (UTC)
Thank you for confirming. Let's wait to hear a response from the other admins. C1K98V (💬 ✒️ 📂) 14:29, 25 November 2023 (UTC)

Question about SOCK suspected categories

With Andrew5, I think we are around 100+ SOCK accounts, with almost all being IP addresses. A few days ago, Andrew5 deviated from the typical IP sock accounts and created Chaser205. After Chaser205 was indefinitely blocked, they were added to Category:Suspected Wikipedia sockpuppets of Andrew5. Since the various IPs are unable to be indef blocked, am I (or an admin) allowed to add the various confirmed SOCK IP accounts from Andrew5 to the category? I'm asking because several of the IP accounts have been used after a previous SOCK block and one of the previous blocking admins stated, "I'm not willing to block indefinitely, but I'll be likely to consider longer blocks moving forward. I sampled some of the IP socks in the archive and am not seeing any evidence that lengthy blocks will cause much collateral damage." The category currently only has four accounts, but Andrew5 has close to 100+ accounts based on the SPI archive history.

Just an overall question, since it would help watch for any of the IPs once they are unblocked to see if they go back to ban-evading. The Weather Event Writer (Talk Page) 01:44, 26 November 2023 (UTC)

I don't like tagging IPs.--Bbb23 (talk) 01:45, 26 November 2023 (UTC)

Pedro Moreira (football manager)

Hey, any chance you can refund or draftify Pedro Moreira (football manager), the page currently would pass GNG and I'd rather have the article recreated than start one from scratch. Cheers!--Ortizesp (talk) 05:22, 26 November 2023 (UTC)

No problem.--Bbb23 (talk) 14:16, 26 November 2023 (UTC)

Egor Burkin deletion

Hello Bbb23. At 23:13, 17 November 2023, you deleted the page Egor Burkin, with the rationale, "A7: Article about a real person, which does not credibly indicate the importance or significance of the subject". I don't know what the page said at the time of deletion but I have found info about Egor Burkin online that indicates significance of the subject, enough to have a whole page of one of his projects in a news article about crime.[1] Therefore, per WP:DELETE, WP:REFUND (A7 can't request at the noticeboard), and WP:SIGNIFICANCE, I request that the page Egor Burkin be undeleted into my userspace. Regards, Thinker78 (talk) 06:24, 29 November 2023 (UTC)

Where exactly do you want me to undelete it to?--Bbb23 (talk) 13:42, 29 November 2023 (UTC)
