Wikipedia:Articles for creation
The Articles for Creation process is intended to assist new editors in creating articles. Articles are created as drafts which are then submitted for review.
Writing an encyclopedic article from scratch isn't easy, and we recommend that you first get some experience by adding material to articles that already exist. You should read the page Help:Your first article to avoid classic mistakes and save your hard work from being deleted.
Creating an article
To start a new article, click the button below:
Here are some things you should have in mind:
- Make sure that the topic is notable enough for an article.
- Articles should reflect only what reliable sources have said about the topic, and all articles need references to reliable sources.
- If you have a conflict of interest with the topic you are writing about, you should disclose it on the draft's talk page.
- If you are being paid to contribute to Wikipedia, you must—under the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use—disclose who is paying you, who the client is, and any other relevant affiliation.
- If you have an idea for the title of an article, but no content for the article itself, you can make a suggestion at Wikipedia:Requested articles.
Your article title will have "Draft:" in front of it until it is accepted as an article.
Submitting for review
When you are finished, you can submit your article for review by clicking the button "Submit for review". If you don't see this button, you can add the code {{subst:submit}}
to the top of your draft. If you see a yellow box saying "Review waiting, please be patient", you have successfully submitted your draft for review.
Please note that getting a review can take several weeks, but that your draft will be reviewed eventually. In the meantime, we hope that you expand some of our already existing articles.
Warning: There is an ongoing scam targeting Articles for Creation participants. See this scam warning for detailed information. Our reviewers will never contact or solicit anyone for payment to get a draft into article space, improve a draft, or restore a deleted article. If someone contacts you with such an offer, please send a copy of the email, including headers, to arbcom-en wikimedia.org.
Reviewers
Experienced editors are always needed to participate in reviews. Reviewing instructions can be found here.

Old drafts
Old drafts, drafts that have been unedited for more than six months, are routinely deleted (see WP:CSD#G13). Once deleted, they can be recovered at WP:REFUND/G13. A bot reports pages eligible for deletion daily Wikipedia:Database reports/Stale drafts. These can be reviewed and nominated for deletion or improved for mainspace.
Some old drafts have been identified as "promising", but without any active editor actually committing to working on them. See Category:Promising draft articles. Consider browsing these drafts for topics that you would like to improve and move to mainspace. If you disagree with the tag, remove it. Another Category:AfC postponed G13 contains articles that someone deemed as having too much potential to allow G13 deletion. These can often be improved for mainspace.
