Infobox
I do not necessarily believe that "Infoboxes must burn in hell", but I appreciate the problem: A box promises to contain, and things that can't be neatly contained can't be put in boxes. A box suggests "this is the real deal," and if the real deal could be put in a box, then there would be no need for articles. A box says, "Here is your PowerPoint bullet point list, so you can find all the world reduced to a reductive summary; please do not strive to understand complexity, for that is for suckers." A box says, "Wikipedia is just like your primary school text book: full of colors and 'bites' of infotainment." A box says, "I, the box maker, have just pissed all over this article and written a counter-article, and it's short, so read it instead." A box may be found useful by some people, indeed. We call those people "non-readers." (Utgard Loki, at Giano's Talkpage, 16:47, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

Not a blatant violation of the username policy. My search does not find any organization called 'CVM News'; it could be someone's initials with the word news at the end. 331dot (talk) 07:48, 14 September 2019 (UTC)
Not a blatant violation of the username policy. Consider filing a report at the conflict of interest noticeboard. Mansfield seems to be a name, and the abbreviation seems to stand for the Kentucky Office of the Attorney General; this name format is expressly permitted. 331dot (talk) 15:06, 14 September 2019 (UTC)
Requests for page protection

Current requests for increase in protection level

Hustlers (2019 film)

Semi-protection: High level of IP vandalism. Constant need to revert or trim excessively detailed or hyperbolic praises; the article is being treated more like a promotion of a J-Lo product than objective encyclopedia (which makes sense due to her wildly dedicated fan base). TropicAces (talk) 14:27, 14 September 2019 (UTC)tropicAces

Indefinite move protection: Page title dispute/move warring. Panda619 (talk) 18:40, 14 September 2019 (UTC)

  • Automated comment: One or more pages in this request appear to already be protected. Please confirm.—cyberbot ITalk to my owner:Online 18:51, 14 September 2019 (UTC)
Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. One reversion does not constitute a move war. PageImp moved the page on 12 September, an action I'd consider bold but not improper, and Panda619 undid that move on 14 September and sent PageImp a message about it. If this continued, without discussion, then yes, it would be a move war. I trust that discussion can now happen without any sort of edit war. Airplaneman (talk) 03:54, 15 September 2019 (UTC)

Create protected: Repeatedly recreated. Whoever wants to create this page again needs to go through the AfC like everyone else and let an administrator lift the block when appropriate. Trillfendi (talk) 20:04, 14 September 2019 (UTC)

Temporary semi-protection: BLP policy violations – IP misleading edit summaries, unbalanced, poorly sourced, no use of talk page. DuncanHill (talk) 21:34, 14 September 2019 (UTC)

I left the IP a message on their talk page and will keep an eye on the article. Jumping directly to a level 3 warning, using various acronyms that a new user/anon likely doesn't know, and WP:BITEY edit summaries like "SPA attack IP needs to desist" are not a good way to try and get someone's attention in a constructive way. A new user may not even know what an article talk page is, never mind how to actually use it. Mifter (talk) 22:43, 14 September 2019 (UTC)
Your assumption of good faith is astonishing. IP is clearly pursuing an agenda, is clearly misusing edit summaries (there is no way they could be construed as honest or good faith summaries), and pretty clearly is not a complete newbie. It's not bitey to call a vandal a vandal. DuncanHill (talk) 22:47, 14 September 2019 (UTC)

Dexbrompheniramine/pseudoephedrine

Full protection: An experienced editor keeps adding the name and website for a specific American pharmacy that sells this drug online. Three different editors (including me, now) have reviewed the content and determined that it's spammy. I'm thinking that it might be good to protect the page until the editor adding this content participates in the talk page discussion (or maybe it'd be simpler to handle it as a block?). Current requests for reduction in protection level

Please post requests in this section for removing or reducing the protection level of a page if the protecting admin is inactive or you have already asked them.
  • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
  • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
  • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
  • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.

Check the rolling archive if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.User:Doug Weller/Decrease

Visa policy of Russia

Please cancel the protection of the page. War editing and vandalism long since left the page. In recent months correct edits made via IPs were canceled several times. They have been restored. Due to unnecessary protection, the article does not receive a update in time. I ask you to pay attention to it and to cancel outdated protection.

Kind regards. --83.220.239.23 (talk) 09:34, 14 September 2019 (UTC)

Unprotection: Remove decade-old move protection to allow non-admin move. Seems no longer necessary. – Ammarpad (talk) 14:07, 14 September 2019 (UTC)

  • Suggest instead a technical move request, as this has been an ongoing issue since at least 2005. KillerChihuahua 17:31, 14 September 2019 (UTC)
There was NO "ongoing issue since at least 2005" except if there is something deleted that I cannot see. The last disruption was in 2009, that's 10 years ago and I already mentioned that. Before that there was one disruption in 2006, that's a total of two different disruptions in totality. The default standard is for articles to not be protected unless there's necessity for that. There's none here. The article was move-protected after this single filter hit, since then there has never been any filter hit, 10 years down the line. – Ammarpad (talk) 19:10, 14 September 2019 (UTC)

Unprotection: Remove page protection entirely or decrease it so IPs can make edits that are listed as pending approval. There have been no issues with vandalism in over 13 years, but there have been several IP editors who want to make beneficial changes to the article. 24.217.247.41 (talk) 20:44, 14 September 2019 (UTC)

Isn't it the case that vandalism is not currently a problem on the page because of the page protection? Also, page was permanently protected 8 years ago, and the protection log shows several attempts to contain vandalism that did not succeed. – Muboshgu (talk) 20:55, 14 September 2019 (UTC)
Can you link the protection log? So we can compare the attempts at vandalism versus the attempts at contributing to the article fruitfully (pun intended)? 24.217.247.41 (talk) 21:50, 14 September 2019 (UTC)
Surely those aren't really comparable, though. If an IP user wants to contribute, they can easily register as an editor. If there are ongoing attempts at vandalism, removing or decreasing the page protection would just create additional and unnecessary work in monitoring the page? Zzledri (talk) 22:50, 14 September 2019 (UTC)
That's the question. Are "there ongoing attempts at vandalism"? Can you link the records? I don't know how to access the protection log previously mentioned. 24.217.247.41 (talk) 23:29, 14 September 2019 (UTC)
IP, the log page is the last link of the article template at the top this listing. here it is again. --McSly (talk) 23:41, 14 September 2019 (UTC)

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

  • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
  • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{request edit}} template should be used.
  • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
  • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
  • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.User:Doug Weller/Edit

Create a level 3 header with a link to the article in question, then a {{Pagelinks}} template and then the reason. It looks like this: Example (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs) your request here. ~~~~
