TroutedEdit
Whack! You've been whacked with a wet trout. Don't take this too seriously. Someone just wants to let you know that you did something silly. |

Some unsolicited adviceEdit
Hi - first of all, don't sweat it about the misplaced comments in the SPI. The first time I got involved in an SPI, I made a mess of it - Doug Weller probably doesn't remember it, but he had to help me fix the mess I'd made. They are quite bureaucratic, in terms of what you can say and where you say it, but that's for a reason - clerks and CUs use case archives to compare against new cases, and there are plenty of cases that go back many years - the last thing we want is unnecessary chatter or comments in the wrong places making them more difficult to read and interpret. 'Just the facts', so to speak. Second of all, I want to preface the comments I'm about to make by saying how important the role of recent changes patroller is. That's exactly how I started out on the project; ClueBot is a wonderful thing, but it can't catch everything, and so having actual human eyes on recent changes looking out for vandalism is really important - thank you. So, this leads me on to the less positive things. There are a couple of things I wanted to mention, which both might point towards an overall concern that you might want to consider.
- Your username. SniperReverter - I don't know how you meant it to sound, but to me it comes across as, well, a bit 'battleground'. I'll come onto this in a minute.
- You have a statement on your userpage that reads
This user will cause intense damage to your very being.
It's not exactly welcoming is it? Most of us are here to help people, not cause them injury.
What I'm getting at is the impression that you are putting across. It seems like you think that we are battling vandals, trying to vanquish, smite, destroy or generally fuck them up. That's not the way to look at it. We are more like janitors cleaning the spray paint off the walls, or librarians Tippexing out the cocks that childish people have drawn in books. It's not very glamorous or exciting, but it more accurately describes the job we're doing, and it actually really helps when it comes to the most important part of counter-vandalism work: WP:DENY. I don't know whether you've ever read the humorous essay WP:MMORPG? If you treat it like a game, so will they; if you just clean it up with the minimal fuss, and refuse to engage with them on an emotional level, you make it less likely that they will try to fight back. Or so the theory goes, anyway. You do you, and thank you for what you do - but do please consider the message that you're putting out there. Cheers Girth Summit (blether) 23:14, 10 January 2023 (UTC)
- Never thought of Wikipedia as a MMORPG, and thank you for making me feel like my semi-obsessive viewing of the Recents is a good thing. About my username, I realize what past me didn't: this isn't Call of Duty. As for the user page, I was going for comedy, but I may just rebuild the page entirely. I'm gonna right down my plan here, more for myself, but you can look through it as well. (@Girth Summit ping because replying)
- Change my username to something else. Maybe a username from a different site like Xbox or even Pokemon Showdown.
- Redo my user page altogether. It's kinda ugly, and as you said, if gives the wrong impression.
- Continue my obsession with looking at the Recents.

Only warningEdit
And I really mean only. If you make a comment like this again I will block you indefinitely. In fact I have half a mind to do so now anyways, but I will extend the slightest amount of AGF that you just profoundly misunderstand social norms regarding illness and death. If that is the case, I would suggest you just stay away from on-wiki discussions regarding community members' health. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she|they|xe) 07:57, 22 February 2023 (UTC)
- If that's the case, then I guess I'm better off leaving. You wanna cause issues despite Doug Weller thanking me for my edit, then I won't pursue you. I like Astatine (Talk to me) 15:44, 22 February 2023 (UTC)
- And because I know full well that you don't believe me, so you can go ask them yourself. I like Astatine (Talk to me) 15:57, 22 February 2023 (UTC)
- It looks like Doug's been thanking basically everyone who comments in that discussion. It doesn't really matter. It's an inappropriate comment, and from the point of view of preventing future disruption, what matters is that you understand that. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she|they|xe) 20:35, 22 February 2023 (UTC)
- Well I understand that, so thank you. I like Astatine (Talk to me) 20:36, 22 February 2023 (UTC)
