Flyby

Hi Julietdeltalima, I would appreciate your sage advice regarding the spelling of flyby. In the article about Jupiter (the planet), I recently edited the word "flyby" to include a hyphen; thus "fly-by". I subsequently noticed that there were another 11 flybys in the article. In the online Oxford dictionary "fly-by" is spelt with a hyphen. Is "flyby" the correct spelling in America? Summerdrought (talk) 07:10, 2 May 2015 (UTC)

Thank you kindly JDL. I got away with correcting one instance for a few hours, so I have now corrected all 12 instances of "fly-by" in the Jupiter article. If someone decides to revert my edits, then I will leave it alone. Edit-wars are rather puerile in my view. I enjoyed your response to my question. Summerdrought (talk) 00:55, 3 May 2015 (UTC)

You are violating WP:EXCEPTIONAL by claiming an award without giving a citation. And removing a citation request is vandalism. Do I need to ask for admin intervention?--Tenebrae (talk) 20:33, 28 December 2015 (UTC)

I'll take you at your word there was a glitch, but what you reverted was my edit commenting-out an uncited claim that she'd won an award, and a citation request that I'd added for another claim. See. your edit here and I'm sure you can understand how being called a vandal for my edits seemed an attack.
I see from the history there was a vandal-IP edit at 20:28, which ClueBot NG reverted almost immediately. I made my edit after the vandalism had been removed.
Thank you for contacting me, and I'm sorry we had a misunderstanding. --Tenebrae (talk) 20:41, 28 December 2015 (UTC)
Ah, that actually (sort of) explains the weird thing that happened. I got a message upon saving the reversion that the article had already been changed in the interim and that the reversion was thus being cancelled, and was then surprised when my reversion showed up in the edit history as the most recent version anyway. All this must have happened practically simultaneously. Rest assured I was only intending to deal with the blanking of the article! Thanks for helping figure this out. Julietdeltalima (talk) 20:49, 28 December 2015 (UTC)
Of course. And thank you for being collegial and having no hard feelings. With best regards during this holiday season, Tenebrae (talk) 20:52, 28 December 2015 (UTC)

SpaceCream

Hi Julietdeltalima, thanks for getting in touch with me about the page SpaceCream. I believe I did state why the band was significant, and have also contested the flag for speedy deletion on the talk page. Please let me know what else I can do, as I am fairly new to the Wikipedia sphere.

This page should not be speedily deleted because SpaceCream is a very popular band with international media coverage.

EchoPark Automotive.

Hello. Thanks for your message concerning the EchoPark Automotive page. I feel this page is minimal in terms of information and the fact that the Wall Street Journal has covered the company proves public interest in its existence. The used car market is growing and this company and others like it indicate the shift within that business space. Could you please provide specifics as far as why you think it should be deleted? Sorry, I deleted the speedy deletion tag before seeing your message! I didn't read through it and thought that I had made a mistake. This article is a part of my senior project at school. If necessary, I wouldn't even mind deleting the page at the end of the school year, but I hope that you wouldn't make that necessary!

Pending changes reviewer granted

Hello. Your account has been granted the "pending changes reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on pages protected by pending changes. The list of articles awaiting review is located at Special:PendingChanges, while the list of articles that have pending changes protection turned on is located at Special:StablePages.

Being granted reviewer rights neither grants you status nor changes how you can edit articles. If you do not want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time.

Rollback granted

Hi Julietdeltalima. After reviewing your request for "rollbacker", I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! Widr (talk) 06:16, 6 April 2016 (UTC)

Chris Rowley

Hi. Thanks for your note about the page on Chris Rowley. I think the page should stay up because he has a major installation piece that sits outside the Phoenix, AZ zoo and many people may wonder about him as they look at the art and this is a place they could learn more about his art (and add more to this page). Further, Rowley was a significant contributor to saving many animal species in the Panama Canal Zone when they expanded the canal and displaced a number of animals. As this was a time (and place) that didn't do a lot of news coverage that story has the potential to get lost. I'm an academic historian and hope that wikipedia can be a place where we can preserve some stories and art. Thanks for your consideration. Bscolli (talk) 16:06, 21 April 2016 (UTC)bscolli

Edit warring - Margarita Levieva

Hello, since you reverted an unsourced edit on May 11th, I wanted to contact you about the Margarita Levieva page and the Personal life section. There are a group of, well, female fans of Sebastian Stan who make it a point to spread rumors about this actress and him as well. So I have noticed that anytime that section is edited it is to state "dated" / "used to" / "was" etc, in order to make it appear that this couple has separated. The lack of of a second source to that section proves the edits are falsified.

So besides reverting every few hours, can anything else be done to keep an eye on that section? Even though it is low-priority.

Leslie Z. Benet

Hi Julietdeltalima,
in this edit you removed the the phrase 'an influential' from the lead section and marked your edit as 'deleted non-WP:NPOV commentary'. How comes? Les Benet is a Web of Science 'Highly Cited Researcher' (actually the highest ranking one in Pharmacology). Overall his papers are cited more than 19,000 times. His works about clearance and the volume of distribution are a basic part of the Pharmacology curriculum. Ref.10 in the article achieved the status of 'Highly Cited Paper', which is defined by Thomson Reuters as having 'received enough citations to place it in the top 1% of its academic field'. Can you please explain when a person would deserve the word influential? Alfie↑↓© 15:20, 27 May 2016 (UTC)

User:Alfie66: If there's a reference in a published source to a characterization of Benet as "influential," it is fine to report that with a reference, but to arrive at that conclusion on one's own is non-neutral original synthesis/editorial commentary. Julietdeltalima (talk) 17:29, 27 May 2016 (UTC)
Hi Julietdeltalima,
read e.g. Ref. 2 in the article. 'Influential' is my wording, neither OR nor violating NPOV. I suggest to run a full-text search on WP for this word and check whether it is literally backed in references. Alfie↑↓© 17:40, 27 May 2016 (UTC)
You raise a fine and truly interesting point, User:Alfie66, now that I have looked into and thought about this. I have gathered that you aren't a native English speaker. I hadn't thought about that, but now it's clear to me why you questioned my edit. I think your understanding of the adjective "influential" is literal and objective—Benet had an influence on this curriculum, these researchers, etc., as obviously demonstrated by 19,000 citations in the literature. You are absolutely right in that regard. Sadly, that adjective, "influential", gets used far more of the time any more in articles submitted to English Wikipedia in an unverifiable subjective sense (by, for example, young musicians and fashion designers; "Ed Feltzbacher is one of the most influential young ska/death-polka saxophonists in Milwaukee"), to the point that it has lost its objective character at a subtle level in idiomatic English. Having thought about this, I don't have an argument any more with "influential" in the Benet article. It is really unfortunate that the public-relations industry has ruined so many perfectly valid and useful words! I appreciate your thoughtful advocacy. All the best! Servus! - Julietdeltalima (talk) 18:23, 27 May 2016 (UTC)
Hi Julietdeltalima, THX for your elaborate answer! Your example of "Ed Feltzbacher" made me laugh. I observe a similar 'inflation of terms' in the German WP as well. Servus from Vienna! Alfie↑↓© 15:37, 30 May 2016 (UTC)

Hello, I noticed that you reverted my edits on this page, Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai! a few days back to the previous version stating that it produced grammatical and capitalization errors.   Hi, Thanks for your message. This is the first time I've tried to edit anything on Wikipedia so I'm clueless where to start. All the words I used for Heavy Metal and my addition was sourced from Wikipedia page "Screaming Lord Sutch & The Savages" I saw him perform in the early sixties with Jimmy Page on lead guitar and noted that the band's sound was very different to others. No one has ever acknowledged this band's contribution in the history of the genre so thought it worth a mention. You obviously read my edit so any comments besides verification issues. Cheers!

Seriously?

Juliet,

In haste, I made an error at Hamilton (musical), which was immediately corrected by another editor - whom I also instantly thanked for fixing it. The fact is, I regularly monitor that page for vandalism and have done so for the past several months. But as you had nothing to do with either action, I don't understand why you would tag my talk page. Can you please explain? Also, in future, you may want to check users' edit histories and tenure, before you indiscriminately make accusations - or stalk the pages they subsequently work on. Thanks. X4n6 (talk) 22:01, 10 October 2016 (UTC)

Apology accepted. Thanks. But you're right - all the Hamilton articles are obviously, problematic. That's why I've asked (more than once) for many of them to be semi-protected. But we'll keep monitoring them until the craziness eventually (hopefully!) subsides. Happy editing! X4n6 (talk) 04:30, 11 October 2016 (UTC)

User group: New Page Reviewr

Hello Julietdeltalima.

Based on the patrols you made of new pages during a qualifying period in 2016, your account has been added to the "New page reviewers" user group, allowing you to review new pages and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or in some cases, tag them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed.

New page reviewing is a vital function for policing the quality of the encylopedia, if you have not already done so, you must read the new tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the various deletion criteria. If you need more help or wish to discuss the process, please join or start a thread at page reviewer talk.

  • Be nice to new users - they are often not aware of doing anything wrong.
  • You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted - be formal and polite in your approach to them too, even if they are not.
  • Don't review a page if you are not sure what to do. Just leave it for another reviewer.
  • Remember that quality is quintessential to good patrolling. Take your time to patrol each article, there is no rush. Use the message feature and offer basic advice.

The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In case of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, the right can be revoked at any time by an administrator. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 01:34, 19 November 2016 (UTC)

ArbCom Elections 2016: Voting now open!

Hello, Julietdeltalima. Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2016 election, please review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 22:08, 21 November 2016 (UTC)

New Page Review - newsletter

Hello Julietdeltalima,

Breaking the back of the backlog
We now have 803 New Page Reviewers! Most of you requested the user right to be able to do something about the huge backlog. Now it's time for action.

Mid July to 01 Oct 2016

If each reviewer does only 10 reviews a day over five days, the backlog will be down to zero and the daily input can then be processed by each reviewer doing only 2 or 3 reviews a day - that's about 5 minutes work!
Let's get that over and done with in time to relax for the holidays.

Second set of eyes

Not only are New Page Reviewers the guardians of quality of new articles, they are also in a position to ensure that pages are being correctly tagged for deletion and maintenance and that new authors are not being bitten. This is an important feature of your work. Read about it at the new Monitoring the system section in the tutorial.

Getting the tools we need - 2016 WMF Wishlist Survey: Please vote

We've listed most of what what we need at the 2016 WMF Wishlist Survey. Voting starts on 28 November - please turn out to make our bid the Foundation's top priority. Please help also by improving or commenting on our Wishlist entry at the Community Wishlist Survey. Many other important user suggestions are listed at at Page Curation.

Deletion of Howard Johnson's Notable Guest

Hi, you recently deleted my contribution to Wikipedia article about Howard Johnson's stating that I didn't cite the sources. The sources are readily available via a standard search engine and I wonder if it would be better to to improve Pages by adding citations where needed instead of deleting on the basis that someone forgot to add a citation for some factual information they took their very precious time to contribute. It just seems to be more in the spirit of being positive and building that we add rather than take away. Thespecialistofshell (talk) 00:50, 15 December 2016 (UTC)

Every RfA or large discussion allows me to nitpick about user's signatures, since I have a syntax highlighting gadget. It must be the web developer in me :) If you could kindly change your signature to the following that would be great:

'''[[User:Julietdeltalima|<span style="color:green;font-family:Century Schoolbook">Julietdeltalima</span>]]''' ''[[User talk:Julietdeltalima|<span style="color: green">(talk)</span>]]''

This renders as Julietdeltalima (talk) which is identical to your current signature, except it is valid HTML/wikitext. Thanks! MusikAnimal talk 02:03, 3 January 2017 (UTC)

Reporting promotional usernames

Hi there, thanks for your efforts in combating promotional usernames and shared accounts! You recently reported OpimianCanada, which was perfectly valid and I blocked the account as such. The only problem is that you reported them less than a minute after warning them about COI and ORGNAME violations. Per WP:UAAI, this is generally bad practice... it doesn't make much sense to ask someone to change their name, then block then before they get a chance to respond. In the future, it would be a good idea to pick one course of action and stick with it – preferably taking the no-blocking route if it's a less egregious violation and you're feeling particularly charitable. Thanks for understanding, – Juliancolton | Talk 18:55, 30 January 2017 (UTC)

New Page Review - newsletter No.2

Hello Julietdeltalima,

A HUGE backlog

We now have 803 New Page Reviewers!
Most of us requested the user right at PERM, expressing a wish to be able to do something about the huge backlog, but the chart on the right does not demonstrate any changes to the pre-user-right levels of October.

Hitting 17,000 soon

The backlog is still steadily growing at a rate of 150 a day or 4,650 a month. Only 20 reviews a day by each reviewer over the next few days would bring the backlog down to a managable level and the daily input can then be processed by each reviewer doing only 2 or 3 reviews a day - that's about 5 minutes work!
It didn't work in time to relax for the Xmas/New Year holidays. Let's see if we can achieve our goal before Easter, otherwise by Thanksgiving it will be closer to 70,000.

Second set of eyes

Remember that we are the only guardians of quality of new articles, we alone have to ensure that pages are being correctly tagged by non-Reviewer patrollers and that new authors are not being bitten.

Abuse

This is even more important and extra vigilance is required considering Orangemoody, and

  1. this very recent case of paid advertising by a Reviewer resulting in a community ban.
  2. this case in January of paid advertising by a Reviewer, also resulting in a community ban.
  3. This Reviewer is indefinitely blocked for sockpuppetry.

Coordinator election

Kudpung is stepping down after 6 years as unofficial coordinator of New Page Patrolling/Reviewing. There is enough work for two people and two coords are now required. Details are at NPR Coordinators; nominate someone or nominate yourself. Date for the actual suffrage will be published later.

March 2017 WikiCup newsletter

And so ends the first round of the competition, with 4 points required to qualify for round 2. It would have been 5 points, but when a late entrant was permitted to join the contest in February, a promise was made that his inclusion would not result in the exclusion of any other competitor. To achieve this, the six entrants that had the lowest positive score of 4 points have been added to the 64 people who otherwise would have qualified. As a result, some of the groups have nine contestants rather than eight. Our top four scorers in round 1 were:

  •   Cas Liber, last year's winner, led the field with two featured articles on birds and a total score of 674.
  •   Iry-Hor, a WikiCup newcomer, came next with a featured article, a good article and a tally of 282 bonus points for a score of 517. All these points came from the article Nyuserre Ini, an Ancient Egyptian pharaoh,
  •   1989, another WikiCup newcomer, was in joint third place at 240. 1989 has claimed points for two featured lists and one good article relating to anime and comedy series, all of which were awarded bonus points.
  •   Peacemaker67 shared third place with five good articles and thirteen good article reviews, mostly on naval vessels. He is also new to the competition.

The largest number of DYKs have been submitted by Vivvt and The C of E, who each claimed for seven, and MBlaze Lightning achieved eight articles at ITN. Carbrera and Peacemaker67 each claimed for five GAs and Krishna Chaitanya Velaga was well out in front for GARs, having reviewed 32. No featured pictures, featured topics or good topics yet, but we have achieved three featured articles and a splendid total of fifty good articles.

So, on to the second round. Remember that any content promoted after the end of round 1 but before the start of round 2 can be claimed in round 2. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points equally.

If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is a good article candidate, a featured process, or anything else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to help keep down the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. JDL,

I understand your concern, however, I do not understand how you can allow 'Public Works Agency - Public Works Industry Social Network including Municipal Contractors, Municipalities and Citizen Engagement' - A site that claims to be a social media site and doesn't work to be listed. My website is an informational forum and news site however for some reason this is not to be allowed? Did you find something you didn't like after making your fake account on my site? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Amgaff (talkcontribs) 16:09, 2 March 2017 (UTC)

User:Amgaff: Neither site should be in any article's "External Links" section. Please read WP:EL. There are millions of articles on the site and we are all volunteers; we don't have the time or ability to police every "External Links" section for inappropriate content, but when we run across it, we revert or delete it.
Moreover, please read WP:COI; if something is "your website," you shouldn't be posting links to it, period. At most you should make a request on a particular article's talk page. However, given the narrow scope of permissible external links, it is likely that other editors will decline to add an external link to the article.
Finally, if you are accusing me (a random Wikipedia volunteer who monitors recent changes by new users occasionally throughout the day) of "making [a] fake account on [your] website" for some inexplicable nefarious reason, I assure you that I have neither the time, interest, or inclination to go to such lengths, and ask that you assume good faith of those of us who volunteer to police the site for addition of commercial and promotional content. If you have further questions I suggest you take them to editors at WP:TEAHOUSE for a further opinion. - Julietdeltalima (talk) 17:36, 2 March 2017 (UTC)

G5 deletions

If you're nominating a page as a G5 deletion, you should include the name of the sockmaster. This will mean that the admin who goes to delete the page will be able to tag and block the user accordingly. Just a generic G5 tells us nothing about who is actually socking. Cheers, Primefac (talk) 17:02, 16 March 2017 (UTC)

Understood; I normally always do, but in this idiosyncratic case I couldn't actually find any indication of the identified sockmaster on any of the notices blocking the multitude of accounts that have been created this morning that had posted exactly the same content. (In fact, I still can't!) I'll leave this particular vandal's malcreations for those in the know, then. Sorry to create an issue. - Julietdeltalima (talk) 18:55, 16 March 2017 (UTC)
Oh, if they're clearly the result of multiple creations by multiple accounts, then by all means nominate away! I'm just saying that a link to one of the other pages and/or accounts would be helpful, to serve (at the very least) as a starting point for the admins to look at. Thanks for the good work! Primefac (talk) 18:59, 16 March 2017 (UTC)
"That guy with the anti-admin diatribe" would probably have been helpful enough, I guess! I apologize for the snippy tone I'm now seeing in my response above, by the way; it seems to be one of those days in my corner of the universe, which is overheated and underventilated in, apparently, more ways than one. Hoping the above-referenced TGWTA-AD has found something better to do now. Take care! - Julietdeltalima (talk) 21:47, 16 March 2017 (UTC)

"Nader El-Bizri" article

Dear Julietdeltalima , that Tag that you placed on "Nader El-Bizri" based on what you traced via the Jesus & Mary School in Lebanon (http://www.jmrab.edu.lb/index.php/1/front-page-news/author-of-the-week/1182-nader) should be checked since that school website has copied/mirrored earlier details of most of the entries on its authors from Wikipedia, including the coverage of Nader El-Bizri. You will also notice that the « Nader El-Bizri » Wikipedia page predates that school's announcement (which is almost a year ago), since the "Nader El-Bizri" Wikipedia page goes back several years, and that it has been referenced throughout. What has happened over the past couple of days has been a misunderstanding that may have resulted from haste in editing that has been carried through with tags here and there, and this seems to be harmful to the reputation of the actual person being covered by this entry i.e. the actual person Nader El-Bizri. Please more care needs to be directed to this from you as a professional editor and from your Wikipedia colleagues. I also understood as a casual editor that I should not interfere, but all along I wanted to bring the latest edits to the attention of your administrators just in case there was a case of vandalism or unfair editorial handling throughout, and for this purpose I used the noticeboards and miscellaneous queries pages on Wikipedia as a means of contacting the professional Wikipedia editors. Thanks2A02:C7D:36C6:8300:E5B3:EBD7:4E2F:D5 (talk) 18:38, 24 March 2017 (UTC)

I am not a "professional editor". I'm a volunteer, like everyone else who works on this site. The school website claims copyright, with all rights reserved. The article is not written in a tone appropriate for an encyclopedia, but I don't intend to have anything further to do with the article, given the unpleasantness that seems to follow anyone who attempts to improve it or call attention to its deficiencies. I strongly suggest you follow the advice others have given you and discuss proposed changes at the article's talk page. I won't respond to any further messages you leave here. - Julietdeltalima (talk) 18:46, 24 March 2017 (UTC)

Gilbert O'Sullivan Website

Hi Julietdeltalima, I keep trying to add a genuine website (www.gilbertosullivan.net) to the Gilbert O'Sullivan page only for it to be removed. The website is full of information for all Gilbert fans and I thought the whole idea of Wikipedia was to share information. In fact the first reference on the Gilbert O'Sullivan Wikipedia page is to a page on this website. How come that link is allowed and my link isn't? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bother buí (talkcontribs) 21:46, 7 April 2017 (UTC)

If there is a reference in the article that leads directly to the fansite, there shouldn't be any reason to put the fansite in "External links." O'Sullivan has an official website which is appropriately included in "External links", and as such, the fansite appears superfluous. In any event, this dispute belongs at the article talk page. You've been reverted by multiple editors now and the burden on you is to obtain consensus to add this unofficial fansite as well. Note as well that if you are the operator of the fansite, WP:COI applies. - Julietdeltalima (talk) 22:13, 7 April 2017 (UTC)

May 2017 WikiCup newsletter

The second round of the competition has now closed, with just under 100 points being required to qualify for round 3. YellowEvan just scraped into the next round with 98 points but we have to say goodbye to the thirty or so competitors who didn't achieve this threshold; thank you for the useful contributions you have made to the Cup and Wikipedia. Our top scorers in round 2 were:

  •   Cas Liber, led the field with five featured articles, four on birds and one on astronomy, and a total score of 2049, half of which came from bonus points.
  •   1989 was in second place with 826 points, 466 of which were bonus points. 1989 has claimed points mostly relating to anime and Japanese-related articles.
  •   Peacemaker67 took third place with two FAs, one GA and seven GARs, mostly on naval vessels or military personnel, scoring 543 points.
  • Other contestants who scored over 400 points were Freikorp, Carbrera, and Czar. Of course all these points are now wiped out and the 32 remaining contestants start again from zero in round 3.

Vivvt submitted the largest number of DYKs (30), and MBlaze Lightning achieved 13 articles at ITN. Carbrera claimed for 11 GAs and Argento Surfer performed the most GARs, having reviewed 11. So far we have achieved 38 featured articles and a splendid 132 good articles. Commendably, 279 GARs have been achieved so far, more than double the number of GAs.

So, on to the third round. Remember that any content promoted after the end of round 2 but before the start of round 3 can be claimed in round 3. Remember too that you must claim your points within 10 days of "earning" them. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points equally.

If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article nominations, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to help keep down the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! Hello Julia,

I have edited the page for McCollum High School because it had vandalism and outdated information. The Principal entry was obviously a homonym for a phallic term and not accurate anyway, and I updated information on enrollment, faculty size, and Principal tenure, all minor edits that can't have a "conflict of interest". While I respect your time on Wikipedia, I would ask that you delete your talk, as it makes my account look like I am trying to illegally influence this entry. Thanks.

Webmastermccollum (talk) 20:51, 3 May 2017 (UTC)

Respectfully, no. First: Wikipedia isn't a government body, so nothing is "illegal" here--just against Wikipedia's rules. Hundreds of new contributors a day are informed of Wikipedia's policies in precisely the same fashion; it isn't a personal insult and it's not reasonable for you to take it as one. Second: If you are acting in your capacity as a paid school employee or consultant, those rules apply to you; you must make a disclosure of your conflict, and your username cannot be based on a role, like "webmaster"; there must be an identifiable human attached for a variety of reasons. Please carefully read WP:COI. If you believe I am incorrect, please go to WP:TEAHOUSE and ask your question again there. Third, you can delete anything you wish off your own talk page (with the exception of declined unblock notices, which are irrelevant to you at this time). Finally, I am not sure where "Julia" came from, but I assume your comment was directed to me out of a misreading of the first part of my username (which is the phonetic alphabet letter "Juliet"). Best regards - Julietdeltalima (talk) 20:58, 3 May 2017 (UTC)

Thank you

Hello, Thank you for editing, however, you removed sourced information. I added to the Three Wolf Moon page saying it was an on-line retail and wholesale company and linked to that site. Why was that removed? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jodiejodiejodie (talkcontribs) 18:02, 4 May 2017 (UTC)

Inline external links are not allowed, particularly not to commerce sites. Please see WP:EL for a full discussion of external link policies. Wikipedia is a reference site, not a site to drive commercial traffic, even if the article concerns a commercial website. If you have any further questions I urge you to ask the volunteers at WP:TEAHOUSE for more advice. Thanks. - Julietdeltalima (talk) 18:06, 4 May 2017 (UTC)

Company pages

Hello, Thank you for messaging me. I do have a few questions regarding company pages. First, I did draft the article so that's not a problem. How do we start a company if apparently I am not following the guidelines? I suppose every company page is written from an employee at the start and then it takes a mind of its own with contributions. I do have sources outside of our website and used other restaurant pages on Wikipedia for research.

I'll request a username change since I am the only person of the organization using it (and probably will be for a while). Would that be acceptable?

I will gladly add those three things to our page: a statement on my user page, a statement on the talk page accompanying any paid contributions, or a statement in the edit summary accompanying any paid contributions.

Thank you again for your help, we want a page that will not cause any problem, but we absolutely need one. Quesadaburritos (talk) 19:12, 15 May 2017 (UTC)

Hi Julietdeltalima,

I got a message that you removed some links I added to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spaghetti_taco I am wondering if you could give me more information and why you think those links are problematic? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jvac2 (talkcontribs) 21:12, 22 March 2017 (UTC)

Please read WP:EL and WP:REF. Inline external links like that aren't appropriate on Wikipedia. - Julietdeltalima (talk) 21:17, 22 March 2017 (UTC)

I think approriate is a little opinionated here. Can you provide more information as to why they were not appropriate. You could have removed the links without changing the edits. I undid your changes to get the edits back and removed the links. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jvac2 (talkcontribs) 21:25, 22 March 2017 (UTC)

Again, please read WP:REF regarding methods for citing a source in support of an article addition. There was no source for the change to the article. - Julietdeltalima (talk) 21:30, 22 March 2017 (UTC)

There is no source need for the change to the article. I clarified it. Spencer Shay is a fictional charcacter and could not have invented spaghetti tacos. They were invented by the show's creator Dan Schneider who wrote them into the show for Spencer to "invent" fictionally on the show. The removal of the links is totally fine but to keep changing content that clarifies things does not make any sense — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jvac2 (talkcontribs) 23:55, 22 March 2017 (UTC)

New Page Review - Newsletter No.4

Hello Julietdeltalima,

Since rolling out the right in November, just 6 months ago, we now have 803 reviewers, but the backlog is still mysteriously growing fast. If every reviewer did just 55 reviews, the 22,000 backlog would be gone, in a flash, schwoop, just like that!

But do remember: Rather than speed, quality and depth of patrolling and the use of correct CSD criteria are essential to good reviewing. Do not over-tag. Make use of the message feature to let the creator know about your maintenance tags. See the tutorial again HERE. Get help HERE.

Stay up to date with recent new page developments and have your say, read THIS PAGE.

WikiCup 2017 July newsletter

The third round of the competition has finished in a flurry of last minute activity, with 288 points being required to qualify for round 4. It was a hotly competitive round with all but four of the contestants exceeding the 106 points that was necessary to proceed to round 4 last year. Coemgenus and Freikorp tied on 288, and both have been allowed to proceed, so round 4 now has one pool of eight competitors and one of nine.

Round 3 saw the achievement of a 26-topic Featured topic by MPJ-DK as well as 5 featured lists and 13 featured articles. PanagiotisZois and SounderBruce achieved their first ever featured articles. Carbrera led the GA score with 10, Tachs achieved 17 DYKs and MBlaze Lightning 10 In the news items. There were 167 DYKs, 93 GARs and 82 GAs overall, this last figure being higher than the number of GAs in round 2, when twice as many people were taking part. Even though contestants performed more GARs than they achieved GAs, there was still some frustration at the length of time taken to get articles reviewed.

As we start round 4, we say goodbye to the fifteen or so competitors who didn't quite make it; thank you for the useful contributions you have made to the Cup and Wikipedia. Remember that any content promoted after the end of round 3 but before the start of round 4 can be claimed in round 4. Remember too that you must claim your points within 10 days of "earning" them (some people have fallen foul of this rule and the points have been removed).

If you are concerned that your nomination, whether it be for a good article, a featured process, or anything else, will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. It would be helpful if this list could be cleared of any items no longer relevant. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to keep down the review backlogs! Why did you vandalize my changes on the H-1B visa page

Hi. While you claim to revert my change for having a "point of view" you also undid the CITED REFERENCED CHANGES and put back INCORRECT INFORMATION.

Specifically you put back the first paragraph statements that the visa is "temporary" You removed the correct numbers for visas issued and numbers applied for based on the official USCIS DATA, which was REFERENCED and CITED. And then you put back a loose reference to a Money.com article which is NON SPECIFIC as to numbers. This is I'm sure just a mistake on your part. Please re-apply all my changes but the last one. Because if you do otherwise then you are vandalizing valid research and promoting incorrect information which as last I checked IS NOT the right policy for Wikipedia. Also you did not respond to my postings IN THE TALK PAGE for the article but simply blasted away. Which is ALSO very bad citizenship for a wikipedian. Please correct this!@ — Preceding unsigned comment added by Patriotmouse (talkcontribs) 03:25, 13 July 2017 (UTC)

A draft of our updated Trupanion entry

You noted you would review a draft of our entry for Trupanion. Most of the info in the current entry is wrong or outdated. The draft is below. Please advise how to proceed. Thanks.

Trupanion Trupanion is a leading provider of medical insurance for cats and dogs throughout the United States and Canada. For almost two decades, Trupanion has given pet owners peace of mind so they can focus on their pet's recovery, not financial stress. Trupanion is committed to providing pet owners with the highest value in pet medical insurance. Trupanion is self-underwritten by the American Pet Insurance Company (APIC).

History Trupanion was founded by CEO Darryl Rawlings.Trupanion covered its first pet in Canada in 2000 and expanded to the United States in 2008. Since expanding to the U.S., Trupanion has established itself as a market leader and now provides medical insurance for cats and dogs in the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico. In July 2014, Darryl took this a step further, and lead the company through an IPO. Trupanion is the only publicly traded provider of medical insurance for cats and dogs. They are listed on NASDAQ. Trupanion now covers more than 350,000 pets throughout North America.

Accreditation Trupanion is a founding member of the North American Pet Health Insurance Association (NAPHIA) that educates pet owners in North America about the veterinary industry. Trupanion was the first insurance company awarded the AAHA’s Seal of Acceptance in 2008.

Product Trupanion continues to lead the creation of this new category of medical insurance for cats and dogs in North America. Trupanion is not “pet insurance” – what the company offers is very different. To be blunt, Trupanion agrees with pet owners and veterinarians that traditional pet insurance is broken. Trupanion offers the more consumer-friendly medical insurance for pets in North America. They are able to pay the veterinarian directly so the pet owner is never having to be reimbursed and they pay 90 percent of the veterinary invoice. Trupanion claims to have the fastest payment process in the industry; no premium increase based on a pet’s age; and a condition-based, lifetime deductible for the well-being of your pet. The Trupanion policy is designed for the lifetime of the pet.

Each day, Rawlings leads more than 500 pet-loving professionals in the U.S. and Canada to one shared purpose and a singular goal: to help the pets we love receive the best veterinary care. It is the passion driving everything the company does, enabling dogs and cats to lead long, healthy and happy lives.

Company Culture Trupanion’s TruGiving program supports United Way and Seattle Humane, in addition to playing an active role in the company’s annual Pet Food Drive that generated more than eight tons of food for dogs and cats in the Seattle area.

The company encourages team members to bring their approved personal pets to the office with them. Trupanion’s employee office pet program ensures a safe and harmonious environment for over 275 cats and dogs in the office and the employee team.

Trupanion continues to provide coverage for service animals through the U.S. Veteran Service Dog Program through the United States Department of Veteran Affairs. The program provides healthcare for U.S. veteran-owned service dogs at no cost to veterans. Through the program, Trupanion pays veterinary costs in full for enrolled veteran-owned service dogs, providing veterans with administrative and financial assistance in caring for the health and well-being of their service dogs.

Trupanion created Veterinarian Appreciation Day in 2015 to honor the tireless work and dedication of medical professionals in more than 28,000 veterinary hospitals throughout North America. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Scott Janzen (talkcontribs) 21:20, 8 August 2017 (UTC)

Wasatch Junior High School

Hi, JDL. I voted on your AfD re above and left you a message there. In the future, it is acceptable and endorsed by the school article guidelines to just boldly redirect articles such as this to the appropriate school district. In the case of private schools, redirect to either the appropriate settlement article or if applicable, the local diocese, church or other local religious group. If you do that, please add a Template:r from school. If your redirect is reverted, then take it to AfD. Cuts out a ton of red tape for an outcome that is virtually certain. Thanks. WikiCup 2017 September newsletter

Round 4 of the WikiCup has ended and we move forward into the final round. In round 4, a total of 12 FAs, 3 FLs, 44 GAs, 3 FLs, 79 DYKs, 1 ITN and 42 GARs was achieved, with no FPs or FTs this time. Congratulations to Peacemaker67 on the Royal Yugoslav Navy Good Topic of 36 items, and the 12 featured articles achieved by Cas Liber (5), Vanamonde93 (3), Peacemaker67 (2), Adityavagarwal (1) and 12george1 (1). With a FA scoring 200 points, and bonus points available on top of this, FAs are likely to feature heavily in the final round. Meanwhile Yellow Evan, a typhoon specialist, was contributing 12 DYKs and 10 GAs, while Adityavagarwal and Freikorp topped the GAR list with 8 reviews each. As we enter the final round, we are down to eight contestants, and we would like to thank those of you who have been eliminated for the useful contributions you have made to the Cup and Wikipedia. The lowest score needed to reach round 5 was 305, and I think we can expect a highly competitive final round.

Remember that any content promoted after the end of round 4 but before the start of round 5 can be claimed in round 5. Remember too that you must claim your points within 10 days of "earning" them. If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. New Page Reviewer Newsletter

Hello Julietdeltalima, thank you for your efforts reviewing new pages!

Backlog update:

  • The new page backlog is currently at 12,878 pages. We have worked hard to decrease from over 22,000, but more hard work is needed! Please consider reviewing even just a few pages a day.
  • We have successfully cleared the backlog of pages created by non-confirmed accounts before ACTRIAL. Thank you to everyone who participated in that drive.

Technology update:

  • Primefac has created a script that will assist in requesting revision deletion for copyright violations that are often found in new pages. For more information see User:Primefac/revdel.

WikiCup 2018

So the 2017 WikiCup has come to an end. Congratulations to the winner, to the other finalists and to all those who took part. 177 contestants signed up, more than usual, but not all of them submitted entries in the first round. Were editors attracted by the cash prizes offered for the first time this year, or were these irrelevant? Do the rules and scoring need changing for the 2018 WikiCup? If you have a view on these or other matters, why not join in the WikiCup discussion about next year's contest? Inappropriate? Really??

How can a submission of a future apocalyptic date be considered "inappropriate" and thereby removed from a section entitled: "List of dates predicted for apocalyptic events"???, with a description that reads:

"This is a list of predicted dates for events made by notable individuals or groups that would result in the extinction of humanity, a massive or total collapse of civilization, the destruction of the planet or even the entire universe."

Unfortunately, your removal of a post that is substantiated as accurate won't prevent or remove it from happening..

Please reconsider while there's still a few days left for the world to finally see a this amazing prediction come true...

Disappointed that reference to Norfolk Family History Society was deleted!

Julietdeltalima, I do not understand why you felt the need to delete the entire reference to The Norfolk family History Society, a charitable organisation in the UK, when many others referenced from Category:Family_history_societies_in_the_United_Kingdom remain unaffected. Perhaps I unwittingly added a link which you considered inappropriate, well why not delete that link instead of the full description? One of the previous facts was incorrect, all I had intended was to correct it, I certainly did not expect entire reference to be deleted if I had inadvertently broken rules! The society provides research support for thousands of folk worldwide. It is certainly of much more interest worldwide than for instance a personal listing of favourite movie, favourite colour and favourite piece of prose, as I notice some have chosen to list. I am only pleased that you choose to make the deletion before I responded to a request to repeat my annual financial support. 212.139.120.49 (talk) 22:42, 21 November 2017 (UTC) M. J Dack 212.139.120.49 (talk) 22:42, 21 November 2017 (UTC)

I didn't make the deletion; the community made it after a week-long comment period on which several people commented. I nominated the article for deletion because it simply didn't meet Wikipedia's notability guidelines, which you can read for yourself at WP:GNG. The fact that a number of people might find an organization useful or helpful in the "real world" doesn't mean that the organization qualifies for an encyclopedia article.
Please be aware that I am a volunteer here. I'm not an employee of the Wikimedia Foundation and I'm not even an administrator on this site. If you don't like the way the encyclopedia works, the best solution probably isn't to threaten a volunteer with not making a donation to the Wikimedia Foundation; it's to help us work on the encyclopedia, which can include finding reliable sources that establish notability for subjects of articles that are up for deletion, editing articles about subjects you don't know anything about (the best way to ensure one's own objectivity, I've found), proofreading, and other tasks. If you have any further questions or think I'm way off track, I invite you to pose this inquiry to the editors at WP:TEAHOUSE, who provide a variety of perspectives in addition to mine. - Julietdeltalima (talk) 22:52, 21 November 2017 (UTC)

New Page Reviewer Newsletter

Hello Julietdeltalima, thank you for your efforts reviewing new pages!

Backlog update:

  • The new page backlog is currently at 12713 pages. Please consider reviewing even just a few pages each day! If everyone helps out, it will really put a dent in the backlog.
  • Currently the backlog stretches back to March and some pages in the backlog have passed the 90 day Google index point. Please consider reviewing some of them!

Outreach and Invitations:

  • If you know other editors with a good understanding of Wikipedia policy, invite them to join NPP by dropping the invitation template on their talk page with: {{subst:NPR invite}}. Adding more qualified reviewers will help with keeping the backlog manageable.

New Year New Page Review Drive

  • A backlog drive is planned for the start of the year, beginning on January 1st and running until the end of the month. Unique prizes will be given in tiers for both the total number of reviews made, as well as the longest 'streak' maintained.
  • Note: quality reviewing is extremely important, please do not sacrifice quality for quantity.

General project update:

  • ACTRIAL has resulted in a significant increase in the quality of new submissions, with noticeably fewer CSD, PROD, and BLPPROD candidates in the new page feed. However, the majority of the backlog still dates back to before ACTRIAL started, so consider reviewing articles from the middle or back of the backlog.
  • The NPP Browser can help you quickly find articles with topics that you prefer to review from within the backlog.
  • To keep up with the latest conversation on New Pages Patrol or to ask questions, you can go to Wikipedia talk:New pages patrol/Reviewers and add it to your watchlist.

Happy Holidays

  Happy Holidays
From Stave one of Dickens A Christmas Carol

Old Marley was as dead as a door-nail. Mind! I don’t mean to say that I know, of my own knowledge, what there is particularly dead about a door-nail. I might have been inclined, myself, to regard a coffin-nail as the deadest piece of ironmongery in the trade. But the wisdom of our ancestors is in the simile; and my unhallowed hands shall not disturb it, or the Country’s done for. You will therefore permit me to repeat, emphatically, that Marley was as dead as a door-nail.

So you see even Charles was looking for a reliable source :-) Thank you for your contributions to the 'pedia. ~ MarnetteD|Talk 23:16, 24 December 2017 (UTC)

New Years new page backlog drive

Hello Julietdeltalima, thank you for your efforts reviewing new pages!

Announcing the NPP New Year Backlog Drive!

We have done amazing work so far in December to reduce the New Pages Feed backlog by over 3000 articles! Now is the time to capitalise on our momentum and help eliminate the backlog!

The backlog drive will begin on January 1st and run until January 29th. Prize tiers and other info can be found HERE.

Awards will be given in tiers in two categories:

  • The total number of reviews completed for the month.
  • The minimum weekly total maintained for all four weeks of the backlog drive.

NOTE: It is extremely important that we focus on quality reviewing. Despite our goal of reducing the backlog as much as possible, please do not rush while reviewing.

A new message template I didn't know about

First, thank you for leaving a {{uw-mos1}} message on a user's talk page tonight. They were making good edits that just weren't in keeping with the MOS, and that message had the perfect tone and content. Second, thank you for using that particular template. I was not aware of that sequence of templates until now, and there have been times that would have been very useful. Please accept this cupcake as a token of my appreciation! —C.Fred (talk) 04:03, 10 January 2018 (UTC)
Many thanks, C.Fred! I just found it a few weeks ago myself, actually (despite the fact that I use Twinkle a lot); I was bored on a conference call and went exploring. The "Single-issue notices" menu is even better, brimming over with useful treasures that I suspect many people never suspected were there. Happy 2018 to you! - Julietdeltalima (talk) 21:02, 10 January 2018 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Costa Rican cuisine, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Guanacaste (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 09:17, 11 January 2018 (UTC)

Washington Huskies football

Hi, Julietdeltalima. I spent several days updating the Washington Huskies football page. These changes include corrections to grammar, additional context, and more thorough content and citations that provide insights into details otherwise left ambiguous over the course of time. I've done the research, and I know the history. Perhaps you are not aware, I hear a lot of false information regarding Don James. I think it's important to provide facts and balanced information, along with citations that support this man of integrity. I am personally familiar with Don James because my husband coached with him at the University of Washington between 1989 and 1992. In my view, it is important to balance encyclopedic format with context and appropriate citations for reader edification. I previously asked others to please reach out to me if there is disagreement, so we can discuss. It's very disheartening and so frustrating to find all of my work wiped away in a matter of minutes or hours. Please collaborate with me on changes. I am open to reducing or revising citations, I'm happy to work together to improve content. Thank you! Melanyesm (talk) 03:55, 18 January 2018 (UTC)

Your work on Castilleja School

Thanks for your work improving Castilleja School! I noticed that you added the "Neutrality Disputed" tag to the article. That tag normally indicates that there is an ongoing disagreement among editors as to the neutrality of content. Since you are the only person who has worked on the article recently feel free remove the tag once you have made whatever changes you feel are needed. Otherwise, I will probably remove the tag myself after a while if no one appears to contest the changes you have made. Happy editing! -- LWG talk 11:42, 29 January 2018 (UTC)

New Page Reviewer Newsletter

Hello Julietdeltalima, thank you for your efforts in reviewing new pages!

The NPP backlog at the end of the drive with the number of unreviewed articles by creation date. Red is older than 90 days, orange is between 90 and 30 days old, and green is younger than 30 days.

Backlog update:

  • The new page backlog is currently at 3819 unreviewed articles, with a further 6660 unreviewed redirects.
  • We are very close to eliminating the backlog completely; please help by reviewing a few extra articles each day!

New Year Backlog Drive results:

  • We made massive progress during the recent four weeks of the NPP Backlog Drive, during which the backlog reduced by nearly six thousand articles and the length of the backlog by almost 3 months!

General project update:

  • ACTRIAL will end it's initial phase on the 14th of March. Our goal is to reduce the backlog significantly below the 90 day index point by the 14th of March. Please consider helping with this goal by reviewing a few additional pages a day.
  • Reviewing redirects is an important and necessary part of New Page Patrol. Please read the guideline on appropriate redirects for advice on reviewing redirects. Inappropriate redirects can be re-targeted or nominated for deletion at RfD.

WikiCup 2018 March newsletter

And so ends the first round of the competition, with 4 points required to qualify for round 2. With 53 contestants qualifying, the groups for round 2 are slightly smaller than usual, with the two leaders from each group due to qualify for round 3 as well as the top sixteen remaining users.

Our top scorers in round 1 were:

  •   Aoba47 led the field with a featured article, 8 good articles and 42 GARs, giving a total of 666 points.
  •   FrB.TG , a WikiCup newcomer, came next with 600 points, gained from a featured article and masses of bonus points.
  •   Ssven2, another WikiCup newcomer, was in third place with 403 points, garnered from a featured article, a featured list, a good article and twelve GARs.
  •   Ceranthor,   Numerounovedant,   Carbrera,   Farang Rak Tham and   Cartoon network freak all had over 200 points, but like all the other contestants, now have to start again from scratch. A good achievement was the 193 GARs performed by WikiCup contestants, comparing very favourably with the 54 GAs they achieved.

Remember that any content promoted after the end of round 1 but before the start of round 2 can be claimed in round 2. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews.

If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to help keep down the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck!
