Hi. I notice you've been using {{coor title dms}} to add title coordinates to articles. That, and a lot of other coordinate templates, are being replaced by {{coord}}. Also, if an infobox has a provision for including coordinates, it's better (IMHO) to use that rather than to have another template down at the bottom.

Rugby League edits

Hi - it's great to see you adding to the rugby league stats. To help even more, would you mind:

• popping in the reference you use for the playing stats in the infobox. If it is the Rugby League Project, for example, just add the link inside a square bracket like this:

source = [http://rugbyleagueproject.com/players/Alan_Thompson.html RLP]

followed by the RLP or NRL Stats, whatever the source.

• remove the new = yes parameter from the infobox once you have added the stats
• if you replace the old position links, you only need to use one {{rlp}}, like this: {{rlp|FB|HB|CE}} for multiple positions - makes for less typing!
• for retired players, it isn't necessary to put in an "updated" date

If you investigate Clark and Stewart's Formula 1 results, plus drivers like Coulthard, Franchitti, John Cleland etc, Scotland is not treated as a national and all Scottish drivers are considered British. Garth Tander

I would ask if possible, not to include individual race results into the career results tables, it could massively blow out the length of these tables, for example what of someone decided it was edit-worthy to add all of Peter Brock's Bathurst 1000, then someone else decides that the Sandown 500 was a significant part of his career, then the table is 50 lines longer. St Andrew's (stadium)

Hi. I've reverted your edits to St Andrew's (stadium). Some reasons are more important than others. Particularly, you removed the metric conversion from the pitch size: this is required by the Manual of Style, and removed the source citation from this item without explanation. You may be unaware, but there is a consensus that footy stadium infoboxes don't contain full postal address, even if correct, which the one you added to St Andrew's was not, but just the general location, including the country. And I'd advise you to stop marking edits as minor when they are no such thing (you can turn this marking off at My preferences/Editing/Mark all edits minor by default). cheers, Struway2 (talk) 08:09, 9 May 2009 (UTC)

Hi there, just a related note so say that postcodes are not needed in an encyclopaedic article. Just a basic location (e.g. the city and neighbourhood) will suffice. Such things are not difficult to find. Please do not remove the – for a plain "-", use the first icon in the insert bar beneath the "Save page button". Wikipedia does have plenty of non-standard things in the raw code but this is not an indication that there is something wrong or it needs removing. It is there for a reason, and usually a good one. Football Park

Hi, again. Your recent edit on Football Park has again brought up some things I've tried to bring up, but you appear to refuse to discuss.

• Consensus reached at this discussion and many other discussions has decided that the stadium articles shall be named as their non-sponsored names (Football Park, not AAMI Stadium). You did not move the page, but you changed the stadium name in the infobox to AAMI Stadium and added Football Park to the former names. Football Park is not its former name, it is its current, neutral name.

• You have been told many times on this talk page that many of the edits you mark as minor are not indeed minor edits. See WP:MINOR.

Piping of links

• You changed [[West Lakes, South Australia|West Lakes]], [[South Australia|SA]] to [[West Lakes, South Australia]]. The former is preferred as a reader can visit the article on South Australia when they click on the 'South Australia' part, rather than the whole link being to West Lakes.

• You also changed [[Australian dollar|AU$]] to [[AU$]]. This isn't a big problem, but there is something we call "avoiding redirects" which means piping links (see WP:PIPE) so that when the link is clicked, one will not be redirected to another page.

Marking edits as minor

You've been warned many times already. Do not mark edits such as this minor. From WP:MINOR:

A check to the minor edit box signifies that only superficial differences exist between the current and previous version: type corrections, formatting and presentational changes, rearranging of text without modifying content, et cetera. A minor edit is one that the editor believes requires no review and could never be the subject of a dispute. An edit of this kind is marked in its page's revision history with a lower case, bolded "m" character (m).

By contrast, a major edit is one that should be reviewed for its acceptability to all concerned editors. Therefore, any change that affects the meaning of an article is not minor, even if the edit concerns a single word; for example, the addition or removal of "not", which can vastly change the meaning of a sentence, paragraph, section or article, is a major edit.

The distinction between major and minor edits is significant because editors may choose to ignore minor edits when reviewing recent changes; logged-in users might even set their preferences to not display them. If there is any chance that another editor might dispute a change, it is best to not mark the edit as minor.

Users who are not logged into Wikipedia are not permitted to mark changes as minor because of the potential for vandalism. The ability to mark changes as minor is one of many reasons to register.

A good rule of thumb is that edits consisting solely of spelling corrections, formatting changes, or rearranging of text without modifying content should be flagged as a 'minor edit.'

I am not suggesting that the accomplishment be ignored. With just two occurances there will never be on occasion where the succession box is completely filled. The purpose of these succession boxes is to track long running histories of events. Two years is not long running. Neither is five years. Even ten would be questionable.

It is an achievement certainly deserving highlighting, but certainly not a succession box. There is a fault within wikipedia's editting policy to try an put tables and statistics instead of prose text, because it is easier to defend in a challenge, less deniable, whatever. A9X Toranas

I'd be a bit wary about changing the descriptions of A9X Toranas. Waggott TC4V

Similarly Repco worked on many different engines, not just the GM-based F1 engine and the Holden V8 based F5000 engine (which did not go into regular production until 1969 so how Matich could put it into his SR3 in 1968 would have been interesting). For example Repco also worked on the Maybach engine which powered the Maybach specials in the 1950s. I think you need to re-read the Waggott website because it says nothing like what you've just told me. The four cylinder engine simply could not be based on the Holden grey motor for the simple reason that the Holden grey motor is a six cylinder engine. The website descibes two completely different engines, the Waggott TC and the Waggott TC4V. It says on multiple occassions the TC is Holden based, and the photos clearly show it to be a six cylinder engine. It does not say anywhere the four cylinder engine, the TC4V is Holden based (to quote - 1968 New complete 2000cc TC4V race motor all designed and manufactured “in house”. No mention of Holden anyway). And just to cap it, is there any such thing as a four cylinder Holden engine? Before the Starfire 4 (which isn't a Holden motor to begin with) there simply wasn't a four cylinder product until... I'm not sure when but surely the 1970's? So how could they have magically created a four cylinder Holden engine?

Please don’t replace “Ford Boss 302 Mustang” entries for Allan Moffat with “Ford Mustang Tans Am” as there is really no such thing as a “Ford Mustang Trans Am”. The Moffat car was originally built up as a Ford Boss 302 Mustang to race in the 1969 Trans Am Series but was subsequently modified to CAMS Group C Improved Production Touring Car regulations to allow it to compete, as a Ford Boss 302 Mustang, in Australian Touring Car races. I may be out of order re this. My plea to stop the deletion of repeated links in results tables was based on the relevant Help page as I had last seen it, i.e. when it specified that tables were an exception to the "repeated links" rule. The exception wording has since been changed from “tables” to “long sortable tables”, which suggests to me that multiple links in non-sortable tables may no longer be condoned. Please see [2]. Any table longer than about twenty lines should not be delinked, particular old school Bathursts as if, for example, the car you are looking at is not linked, then you have to search through the other entries to find it. In a long entry with wide variety that could take a while. Don't want to make it too difficult for casual browsers to use. Formula One car infobox updates

Hey, many thanks for putting some time into the car articles lately. It would be a good idea if you could be a bit careful about some of your edits though, please. In a number of cases you are actually making the infobox worse, not better. For example, the recent changes you made to the Renault RE40 article included switching a pipe for carbon fiber-reinforced polymer to simply carbon fiber and V6 engine to V6, and you removed all the punctuation. F1 cars aren't made of carbon fiber; that is quite floppy, fragile stuff. The material commonly referred to in that context as "carbon fiber" is actually the composite. Links should be precise. It is also conceivable that there will one day be a V6 disambiguation page. I know it redirects at the moment to the right place but it may not always be so, so removing precise pipes is going to effort that may just need repeating (probably by someone who isn't you) down the road. I appreciate that you are trying to improve things, and thank you for that, but with just a little more attention to detail it would save someone having to go round after you and clean up. "Updating" engine and chassis info

Hey, just another comment on your recent edits. You say you are "updating" the chassis info in the results tables, except you aren't. You are introducing information that is implicit (the page is about car X so we don't need to be told that the results refer to car X, unless the page also covers variants XA and XB) and removing information on the car's entrant! F1 car articles

Hi HoldenV8. Thanks for the work you have been doing on F1 car articles. A couple of minor points to note though:

• In the results tables, the "WCC" and "points" columns should only be shaded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd position in the championship
• the WP:F1 standard abbreviation for "turbocharged" is "t/c" not "tc" (and likewise "s/c" for "supercharged")
• we usually don't add "NA" to identify naturally aspirated engines in the results table, on the basis that this is the "default" engine type
• engine links should not include the engine designation unless the linked article/section specifically covers that engine, e.g. [[Judd_(engine)#EV|Judd EV]] is OK, but [[Scuderia Ferrari|Ferrari Tipo 036]] should be written as [[Scuderia Ferrari|Ferrari]] Tipo 036, since the Scuderia Ferrari article does not explicitly mention the Tipo 036 engine.
• the "pole position" note is not included above the table if the car didn't score any pole positions (and likewise for fastest laps)

And another... sorry! We generally try to keep the number of flags in articles to a minimum, so in those articles that are not specifically about the drivers (such as the cars) the driver nationalities are only flagged once (in the infobox). As far as the results table goes, the drivers are just another component in the combination so are treated as such: surnames only and no flags. Check out the recent (last couple of years) cars for the format that has evolved. You did notice the column you've been chaning is listed as Team, not Entry. Entry reflects whatever is on the entry form and can take the form of a myriad different sponsored identities from year to year. Team is focussed on connecting a link to the correct article with regards to a motor racing team. For example, for a couple of years in the late 80s, Andrew Miedecke and Andrew Bagnall had different entries, but their Ford Sierras were run out of the same team, along with briefly Kevin Waldock, run by one of the Stone brothers prior to the Stone in question (can't remember which) joined Dick Johnson Racing. --Falcadore (talk) 23:02, 27 October 2010 (UTC)

Haas/Lola cars

Hi HoldenV8. You may have noticed that I have reverted your edits where you changed the "Lola" links for the 1985 Haas/Lola cars to link to Haas Lola instead of Lola Racing Cars. The existing convention is that references to the team link to Haas Lola but references to the cars link to Lola Racing Cars. However, I note that this is inconsistent with the fact that we have both "Haas/Lola" and "Lola" listed in the F1 constructors template, so I will raise the matter for discussion at WP:F1. Regards. Editing suggestions

Hi HoldenV8. Thanks for the race summaries you have been adding to the Formula One race report articles. A couple of points to note:

• pages like Italian, Australian, etc are usually disambiguation pages, and should not be linked to. To describe a driver's nationality, link to the article about the country instead, e.g. describe them as [[Italy|Italian]], [[Australia]]n, etc
• it's best to avoid words like "sadly", "tragically", "unfortunately", etc as these are considered "editorialising" - see WP:EDITORIAL for more information

Also, V12 is a redirect to a disambiguation page, so to refer to the engine configuration, you need to write [[V12 engine|V12]]. And even though V6, V8 and V10 redirect to V6 engine, V8 engine and V10 engine respectively, it's probably a good idea to always write [[V6 engine|V6]], [[V8 engine|V8]] and [[V10 engine|V10]] anyway, in case the redirects change in the future. "F1 car" infobox parameter

Please be careful not to remove the "F1 car" parameter when updating Formula car infoboxes as you did here - the parameter causes a footnote to be displayed in the infobox stating that the statistics refer to World Championship Grands Prix only. To clarify, you need to be careful not to remove the parameter for pre-1984 cars, but you also shouldn't give it a value for post-1983 cars, as you did here (It's unnecessary for post-1983 cars, because there haven't been any non-championship races since 1983). F1 car technical information

Hi. I see that you are adding and altering some information in Formula One car infoboxes. That's great, and very helpful in the main, but unfortunately some of the data you are adding contradicts data with a cited source, and you provide no source for the data you have added. In many cases you are also converting imperial units to metric. Most F1 cars of the pre-1980 era, although built to conform to the FIA formula (which uses metric units) were designed and quoted in imperial units (as most were built in the UK). In other cases I see that you are inserting the formula's minimum weight into this field, but a lot of older F1 cars were over the minimum weight so just assuming that this is the weight of the car isn't correct. If you do add any more technical details to infoboxes please be sure to add a properly formatted citation, otherwise this sort of information will have to be reverted as unreliable. Use of the Infobox NBL Player

Hello HoldenV8 - I have noticed that you are a very active Australian Wikipedia editor. I wanted to bounce something off of you and see if you knew of other active NBL editors who also might weigh in. I am interested in converting players in the Template:Infobox NBL player over to the broader Template:Infobox basketball biography. In my opinion, this would make converting players who move across leagues much easier as the NBL is the only league who has its own infobox separate from the Basketball biography or NBA biography (which is actually just a redirect) boxes. I started a conversation about this over at WikiProject NBA. I want to check in with a few active NBL editors to make sure there are no issues with doing this. One issue I could foresee is that the "junior association" field would be lost. Heights and weights are also metric first on the NBL box, but that is also true of Europe so I don't think that is a show stopper. What are your thoughts? We may be able to code the box with NBL team colors as is the case in the NBA and Euroleague - I think that would be a nice enhancement. Rikster2 (talk) 13:39, 9 December 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for the response. Actually, the NBA doesn't have it's own infobox - it was converted over awhile back. I'm not sure how team colors, but I know the Euroleague boxes were just coded to do it this year so it is definitely possible - I think doing this for the NBL would be a nice touch if possible. • If the DVD was professionally published (not something you recorded yourself), I think you should be able to cite the DVD as a source. Likewise, if it was broadcast on television, and the television channel has retained a recorded copy of the broadcast (ie it has not been wiped), I suspect you would be able to cite that. You would have to give a sufficient amount of information about the DVD or broadcast so as to clearly identify it so that other people could track it down. Flags in European current templates

Hello there, I have been asked by another member of WPRL to widen the conversation on "Flags in European current templates", in the hope to gain a wider consensus. I imagine that this message may well never be read, dismissed, see me lose support, potentially gain some or take the discussion forwards. Please do take the time to read the discussion at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Rugby_league#Flags_in_squad_templates if you can, but the crux of my position is that the flags are prevalent elsewhere, are consistent with usage by the MOS, and their implementation for their rugby league national squad/team or representative nationality, is in line with their intended purpose. The crux of the remove side would be an IP editor may interpret a flag as indication of birth, give too much credence to the nation, and the decision was made previously. To remove them from all rugby league templates when there is a limited conversation would seem more than a little unfair I would say, hence the attempt to reach out. I'm quite happy to voted down, but would appreciate a few more voices to the discussion, else it would seem quite wrong to move from the majority into the minority.Fleets (talk) 21:06, 13 July 2017 (UTC)

While I accept the block and this isn't about pleading my case, I just want to point out the behaviour of someone who is directly involved in this. For the past 2 or 3 or so years, LibStar has been harassing and stalking me at just about every turn. It didn't matter what the subject of the page was, from rugby league to speedway, there he was.

Just off the top of my head, I can recall in February 2016 one situation where I received a warning from Libstar over what he perceived as a personal attack on him. But as was shown, the (short) conversation I had with another user on this site (James500) had nothing to do with LibStar. There was also one instance where he reverted an edit I made to the Brett Mullins page. The information I added to the page was factual, however I could not find any reference online or elsewhere to it. Now fair enough, I do understand that things do need verification. But LibStar reverted it back to what was there previously (which also had no reference, but that seemed perfectly ok as to my unreferenced edit which was not) and it was actually incorrect information. When I pointed this out to Libstar, instead of answering my query on it he simply gave another warning for 'playing games'.

Under Wikihounding, the first sentence of the first paragraph reads "Wikihounding is the singling out of one or more editors, joining discussions on multiple pages or topics they may edit or multiple debates where they contribute, to repeatedly confront or inhibit their work." Well, this is exactly what LibStar has been doing with me. The only time LibStar didn't do this was for a period of about 3 or 4 months when I actually threatened to report him for exactly this. But I guess after a while he figured I wasn't going to do it so he just went straight back to it.

Oh, and as to why I repeatedly ignored LibStar. Put simply I got sick of him hounding me just about every step of the way in here so I just didn't bother with him.

As I said, this isn't about pleading my case as I understand and accept the reasons for the block. It is an official complaint that LibStar has been harassing and stalking me in Wikipedia for approximately 2-3 years.HoldenV8 (talk) 04:44, 23 July 2017 (UTC)
