Reverting goalscorers in Ukrainian Premier League edit

I have reverted your edit in the current season of the Ukrainian Premier League where you have removed the penalties from the list. This is the second time you have deleted this information which is allowed by the WP:FOOTY Manual of Style. This information has been on going on all Ukrainian seasons which are WP. If you want to introduce a change like you are performing you need to get consensus not only on the editors who perform edits on the Ukrainian Premier League but also in WT:FOOTY. Your draft article, Draft:2002–03 FC Porto season edit

Hello, Andriyrussu. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "2002–03 FC Porto season".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Updating caps and stats edit

Hello, I'm Robby.is.on. Welcome to Wikipedia! I just wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions were not quite right. When updating statistics within the infobox of a footballer, please make sure you update the timestamp at the same time, so that both readers and fellow editors know when the information was last updated.

You can do this by replacing the existing timestamp within the |club-update= or |pcupdate= parameter for club stats, or the |nationalteam-update= or |ntupdate= parameter for international stats. For articles that use a DMY date format, use five tildes (~~~~~), or for MDY dates, use {{subst:mdytime}}. This will generate the specific time the update was made.

If you have any questions about this, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you, Robby.is.on (talk) 10:43, 23 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

Andriyrussu, for people to see your replies on your Talk page, you need to ping them – like this: @GiantSnowman:. For that to work, you need to sign your message using four tildes (~~~~). Robby.is.on (talk) 09:55, 11 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
Andriyrussu - respectfully you didn't given there was no time in your date update, so you can't have used the five tildes. GiantSnowman 09:59, 11 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

You are still doing this. GiantSnowman 09:40, 12 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Um… Doesn't writing 12 May without the tildes work fine in this case? There was no match on this date so the timestamp isn't ambiguous. Robby.is.on (talk) 09:56, 12 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
Five tildes is always preferred. How do I (or other readers) know that? GiantSnowman 09:58, 12 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
The same way they'd know that there hasn't been a match since a date written with tildes. Robby.is.on (talk) 10:00, 12 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
No. {{Infobox football biography}} says "A timestamp at which the player's infobox club statistics are unambiguously correct. The bare date of the last match played should not be used because this is not unambiguous. Dates should use the same format as the rest of the article; use five tildes (~~~~~) to generate the current date/time in dmy format, or 10:11, May 12, 2021 (UTC) for mdy format. The parameter is not needed if the player has retired". GiantSnowman 10:11, 12 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
How do I (or other readers) know that?
If a match has been played on 11 May or earlier and the timestamp given is "12 May" it is unambiguously correct – if one knows that the last match played was before the 12 May.
If a match has been played on 11 May or earlier and the timestamp given is "10:37, 12 May 2021 (UTC)" it is unambiguously correct – if one knows that the last match played was before the 12 May.
If a match has finished on 12 May at 10:30 or earlier and the timestamp given is "10:37, 12 May 2021 (UTC)" it is unambiguously correct – if one knows that the last match played was before the 12 May 10:30.
So, as you can see, in all of these cases knowledge of when a match was played is a precondition for "unambiguous correctness" Robby.is.on (talk) 10:44, 12 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

You are still not using five tildes to update as is required - see Étienne Capoue. Why? This is becoming a competency issue. GiantSnowman 17:26, 27 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Vadym Mashchenko.jpeg edit

A tag has been placed on File:Vadym Mashchenko.jpeg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". Proposed deletion of Dmytro Makhnyev edit

The article Dmytro Makhnyev has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

if no appearances for the national team, then not notable

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Roman Honcharenko moved to draftspace edit

An article you recently created, Roman Honcharenko, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Speedy deletion nomination of File:Chesnakov.jpg edit

A tag has been placed on File:Chesnakov.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia.

Wikipedia and copyright edit

Hello Andriyrussu! While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. To be used on Wikipedia, all other images must be made available under a free and open copyright license that allows commercial and derivative reuse.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps described at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. See also Help:Translation#License requirements.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 14:58, 3 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Image without license edit

Unspecified source/license for File:Denys Antyukh 2021.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Denys Antyukh 2021.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time after the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|cc-by-sa-4.0}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by MifterBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: Once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. --MifterBot (TalkContribsOwner) 17:45, 1 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Verkhnodniprovsk edit

Hi. As I mentioned in an edit summary, Verkhnodniprovsk is the official Latin-alphabet spelling, according to Ukraine’s official romanization method, and it is recommended by the guideline at WP:UKR. If your article move is reverted with an explanation, please start a discussion on the article talk page and not a WP:revert war. Thanks. —Michael Z. 00:20, 6 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi, again. Please read the procedure for WP:requested moves for potentially controversial or disputed article moves. Editors who edit-war may be blocked, especially in articles on Eastern European subjects, which are under discretionary sanctions. —Michael Z. 14:15, 6 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Sources edit

Hello. Please provide reliable sources to your edits. Wikipedia is based on reliable sources, see WP:VERIFY. I reverted your edits at FC Speranța Drochia, CSF Spartanii Selemet, Real Succes Chișinău and Dacia Buiucani because they were either unsourced or poorly sourced. If no reliable sources exist, which seems to be the case with these "Current squad" sections, then the content does not belong on Wikipedia. I would also advise you to not add "Current squad" sections containing only one or two players, unless reliable sources can verify that these clubs do indeed only have one or two players, which seems very unlikely. Sørhaug (talk) 17:58, 8 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Those pages don't have any reference, so you should delete everything? That's the logic? @Sørhaug
If the content on any of those pages is unreferenced, then it could be removed. But chances are that most of it could be added back with reliable sources. That is not the case with the current squads you have added. I can not find any reliable sources for these squads and you have not provided one either. Sørhaug (talk) 18:41, 8 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
As long as there are no any sources i will delete the unreferenced information. @Sørhaug

Non-free rationale for File:Mykhaylo Mudryk 2021.png edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Mykhaylo Mudryk 2021.png. Proposed deletion of Yuriy Shulyatytskyi edit

The article Yuriy Shulyatytskyi has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted after seven days unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp/dated}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Autopatrolled granted edit

Hi Andriyrussu, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the "autopatrolled" permission to your account, as you have created numerous, valid articles. This feature will have no effect on your editing, and is simply intended to reduce the workload on new page patrollers. For more information on the autopatrolled right, see Wikipedia:Autopatrolled. However, you should consider adding relevant wikiproject talk-page templates, stub-tags and categories to new articles that you create if you aren't already in the habit of doing so, since your articles will no longer be systematically checked by other editors (User:Evad37/rater and User:SD0001/StubSorter.js are useful scripts which can help). February 2022 edit

You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you remove or blank page content or templates from Wikipedia without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary, as you did at Vitalii Mykolenko. Unexplained removal of reference for full name. Mattythewhite (talk) 18:01, 20 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

You cannot block me without any reason because the title of the page is not the way you like. You don't have the right to block me because it is not vandalism and I am a huge contributor to English Wikipedia. Stop making me threats! I am not afraid. Andriyrussu (talk) 18:43, 20 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Firstly, to make it clear the above warning was made specifically regarding the unexplained removal of the reference for the subject's full name, rather than the unexplained page move.
I must contest your assertion that I am titling the article based on the "way [I] like". Article titles should be based be based on what is used in independent reliable, English-language sources, as laid out at WP:UCRN. See 5,880 results for Vitalii Mykolenko vs 5,150 results for Vitaliy Mykolenko on Google News (as of the time this message was posted). The difference between the two isn't substantial, but his profiles on the Ukrainian Premier League (which is the source I used for the full name) and Everton websites use Vitalii, as does the subject himself on his official Instagram page.
If there is a particular reason that Vitaliy should be the preferred spelling, please let me know, because it's doesn't appear to me that it should be. Mattythewhite (talk) 23:47, 20 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
First, I deleted your reference because it is not the source that ultimately decides which spelling is correct. I can provide you sources with same reliability which spell it "Vitaliy".
Second, I am a Ukrainian native and I am fluent in Ukrainian and I can assert you that in Ukrainian there is the letter "і" which is romanized into English as "i" and there is the letter "й" which is romanized into English as "y" and which has a similiar pronunciation to letter "і" but slightly smoother which cannot be romanized to "i" again because they are two different letters with two different pronunciations. Check the rules of Romanization of Ukrainian. So there is common practice to romanize Ukrainian names that end in "ій" as "iy" as for example in Vitaliy Buyalskyi, Vitaliy Reva, Vitaliy Havrysh, Vitaliy Mandzyuk, Andriy Shevchenko, Valeriy Lobanovskyi, Heorhiy Bushchan, Serhiy Sydorchuk, Anatoliy Trubin, or Yevheniy Makarenko. Andriyrussu (talk) 00:54, 21 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the explanation. However, looking at the tables of romanization systems at Romanization of Ukrainian, there seems to be variation in how "й" can be transliterated, with "ĭ", "y" and "i" presented as potential choices. Should "y" be preferred?
I would ask that you provide an alternative reference to support the full name; regardless of how it is transliterated, it ought to be cited still. Mattythewhite (talk) 00:16, 22 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
I don't know which of the romanization systems is the most correct or the most commonly used one. From my perspective "y" should be preferred. I never saw a Ukrainian name or surname using "ĭ". I have seen names and surnames romanized with "i", however for football personalities there is the general practice of romanizing with "y". I have always used "y" when creating new pages for football players.
His profile at english version of Dynamo official site when he was still their player transliterated it as "Vitaliy". His profile at eu-football.info cites his full name as "Vitaliy Serhiyovych Mykolenko". Same at playmakerstats.com and at UEFA official site. Andriyrussu (talk) 01:03, 22 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Volodymyr Yezerskyi. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. ---CX Zoom(he/him) (let's talk|contribs) 14:58, 22 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Your recent editing history at Serhiy Baltacha shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See the bold, revert, discuss cycle for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. ---CX Zoom(he/him) (let's talk|contribs) 17:01, 22 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 48 hours for edit warring. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions.
During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Bbb23 (talk) 14:51, 23 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

I was having edit-warring with that guy but no third opinion was brought during the dispute in the summer and again now. Consensus was found that the Ukraine flag is the correct one in the page. So why I was blocked if my position was right at the end? Why you blocked me again for so long time? Did I violate any rule by reverting edits on his page? The Crimean Bridge. Made with Love! edit

I'm going to write what I wrote in the page talk so you get my point of view. I understand there are people, in the Ukraine especially, who hate the Crimea bridge and it's symbolism. I get it. However, continuing to edit this page and stating the movie "The Crimean Bridge. Made with Love!" is propaganda is the furthering of political opinion rather than a factually based edit. If you have referenced proof the movie is propaganda in nature, you need to post a reference to go with such an edit; otherwise it will be reverted. AprilHare (talk) 19:10, 11 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

Unsourced edits edit

Hello. This is a message to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions, such as the edit(s) you made to Control of cities during the Russo-Ukrainian War, did not appear to be constructive and have been reverted. Please take some time to familiarise yourself with our policies and guidelines. You can find information about these at our welcome page which also provides further information about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. If you only meant to make test edits, please use your sandbox for that. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you may leave a message on my talk page. Thank you.

I have reverted your edits to Control of cities during the Russo-Ukrainian War because they were unconstructive. Specifically, you altered the contents of the page –

  1. without providing a source for the edits;
  2. without removing the sources for the previous contents.

While I can see that your edits may have been in good faith, they were counterproductive because they were impossible to verify using the references on the page. Moreover, since you left the old references in place, the edits were dishonest (whether you intended this or not), because the page appeared to verify information which it in fact did not. Please do not make unsourced edits for information which may be disputable in future. AlphaMikeOmega (talk) 18:33, 3 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Ways to improve Vladyslav Dvorovenko edit

Hello, Andriyrussu,

Thank you for creating Vladyslav Dvorovenko.

I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

What is needed are references from significant coverage about this player, and not their own words; in multiple secondary sources which are WP:RS; that is your guide. Lists, Team rosters, pages listing matches and results, databases, Instagram, Soccerway, Facebook, none of these are reliable sources. (There have been changes to the notability guide for sports - see WP:NSPORT ) You may also read WP:PRIMARY which details the limited permitted usage of primary sources. A more comprehensive guide is WP:SOURCES ... Providing sufficient references, ideally giving more information about this player, that meet these criteria is likely to allow this article to remain. Lack of them or an inability to find them is likely to mean that this article is not suitable for inclusion. Kindly do the needful. Thank you

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Whiteguru}}. Remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.

Delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.

May 2022 edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, articles should not be moved, as you did to Torture of Russian soldiers in Malaya Rohan, without good reason. They should have a name that is both accurate and intuitive. Wikipedia has some guidelines in place to help with this. Generally, a page should only be moved to a new title if the current name doesn't follow these guidelines. Also, if a page move is being discussed, consensus needs to be reached before anybody moves the page. If you would like to experiment with page titles and moving, please use the test Wikipedia. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Please provide edit summaries when moving pages. Moving articles like Malaya Rohan and Torture of Russian soldiers in Malaya Rohan without explaining why isn't a helpful action. You could go to the article's talk page for suggesting a move. Please see WP:RM for more info on how to request a move. Dunutubble (talk) (Contributions) 14:49, 10 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. Thank you. Dunutubble (talk) (Contributions) 12:51, 11 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Yes, Andriyrussu, please do start a requested move if someone disputes a move you make rather than re-moving the article. Galobtter (pingó mió) 04:51, 14 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

On a similar note - if your edit has been reverted, do not restore it, instead discuss it. See WP:BRD. GiantSnowman 18:46, 25 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

As you were informed earlier this month by Galobtter (talk · contribs) - if your page move us reverted you need to use WP:RM, you should not keep moving the page. I have had to revert you twice at Max Kucheriavyi. Do we need to seek sanctions at ANI again? GiantSnowman 06:29, 27 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Oleh Benko edit

The article Oleh Benko has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references.

File permission problem with File:Eric Ramírez 2021.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Eric Ramírez 2021.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Proposed deletion of File:FC Dynamo Makhachkala logo.png edit

The file File:FC Dynamo Makhachkala logo.png has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Superseded by c:File:Dinamo-makhachkala-logo.svg.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. --Minorax«¦talk¦» 12:29, 14 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

I beg your pardon [2]? Ymblanter (talk) 13:50, 12 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

Let us be serious, we both know the answer. We are not here to play games. If this continues, I will nominate you for topic ban.--Ymblanter (talk) 13:52, 12 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
I don't know the answer. I cannot see any statistics from census on those localities' page. Andriyrussu (talk) 13:53, 12 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
Kharkiv Oblast is predominantly Russian-speaking. Go out to the street and talk to the refugees. In addition, there is no consensus to remove this at all. If you want to reach consensus, open a RfC. Ymblanter (talk) 13:54, 12 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
It is predominantly in big cities like Kharkiv, but not in small towns and villages. Anyway, subjetive opinion is not enough to prove that it is predominantly Russian-speaking. Can you provide sources like stats and census, not just your opinion? Andriyrussu (talk) 13:56, 12 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
I am not going to do this, reach consensus that these names should not be there first. Ymblanter (talk) 13:57, 12 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
Is there consensus that Russian name should be where there is not statistics proving it? Your opinion is not enough for putting the Russian name. Andriyrussu (talk) 14:00, 12 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
The fact that the names have been there for ages (and, except for the articles I created not added by me) constitutes de-facto consensus. You reverts now, except for being edit warring, go against this consensus. To change it, you need a discussion. Ymblanter (talk) 14:28, 12 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

Discretionary sanctions alert edit

You have shown interest in Eastern Europe or the Balkans. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

To opt out of receiving messages like this one, place {{Ds/aware}} on your user talk page and specify in the template the topic areas that you would like to opt out of alerts about. Edit warring edit

You currently appear to be engaged in two edit wars, as evidenced by the reverts/edits you have made on Andriy Kitela and Illya Hulko. This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. Anwegmann (talk) 20:55, 9 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Spelling of Ukrainian place names edit

Hi. I notice you’re renaming some articles about Ukrainian place names. Three appeared in my watchlist:

  1. Verkhnodniprovsk → Verkhniodniprovsk
  2. Verkhnoshyrokivske → Verkhnioshyrokivske
  3. Verkhnotoretske → Verkhnyotoretske

By default we spell Ukrainian place names according to WP:UKR, which recommends the Ukrainian national romanization system. These are the official Latin-alphabet spellings of places in Ukraine, according to Ukrainian law, and they are used for most international purposes by organizations, governments, in mapping, weather, aviation, etcetera.

According to the system, the soft sign (ь) is dropped, and not romanized as either i or y. For some reason you romanized it as i in two instances and y in another. Why the inconsistency?

You also ignored that a recent RM determined the consensus spelling for no. 3, at Talk:Verkhnyotoretske#Requested move 1 June 2021.

If there’s no good rationale for these moves based on sources, I recommend you move them back and start a move request for each (or save trouble and do a group move request if the rationale is consistent).

And I see by your contributions list that there are more than just the three.

Thanks. —Michael Z. 03:52, 16 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

Ok. I will move back the names, but the spelling is not the most correct one. I can assure you as a Ukrainian language speaker. I will give you just an example:
1. Верхньодніпровськ (with the soft sign (ь)) → Verkhnodniprovsk
2. Верхнодніпровськ (without the soft sign (ь)) → Verkhnodniprovsk
So you can see that 2 different spellings in Ukrainian have the SAME spelling in romanized English.
Thanks. - Andriyrussu (talk) 11:23, 16 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I know Ukrainian and I fully understand the shortcomings designed into the system. Every system balances different strengths and weaknesses. But this is a good system for the purpose and the resulting WP:CONSISTENCY from sticking to it unless otherwise warranted is supported by many guidelines (like the WP:CRITERIA) and has a quality of its own.
Thank you for understanding, and undoing the moves.
I have found in WP:contentious topic areas it’s almost always a good idea to file a WP:RM unless the move is close to the definition of WP:RM#TR. Then you get more input, identify unanticipated pitfalls, and then afterwards the result has the strength of demonstrated consensus which leads to stability.  —Michael Z. 16:00, 16 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

Marlos edit

Hey, I don‘t understand the standard procedure regarding categories for players like Marlos. Since he is a Brazil-born person, who owns the Ukrainian passport, how can he be an “expatriate” in both Brazil and Ukraine? That doesn’t make a lot of sense to me. Prior to owning that new passport, he was indeed an expatriate in Ukraine, but is there still a necessity for that category? Again: I don’t understand the correct procedure for naturalized people like him. Please explain! Have a good day! :) —FPSalman (talk) 13:21, 21 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

He was expatriate in Ukraine for several years, when he had Brazilian nationality and played in Ukraine. Then he got Ukrainian nationality. In Ukraine there is a law that forbids having more than one (Ukrainian) nationality. To get Ukrainian nationality, a person needs to revoke from his other nationality. He played as non-foreigner indeed in Ukraine for several years, but this doesn't erase from his career that he was an expatriate in Ukraine. Then he played in Brazil as a Ukrainian citizen. So he was considered an expatriate in Brazil. The same situation is with Júnior Moraes. Andriyrussu (talk) 21:02, 21 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

Being in the article since January 2015 doesn't mean it is correct. It should have consensus of Wikipedia users. Being forgotten since 2015 is not a good reason. That's why I'm asking you where is the discussion and consensus on this? Andriyrussu (talk) 13:45, 20 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
That's not how it works, it is not based on your opinion whether it is correct or not. Per WP:NOCON, if you do not have consensus for your bold edit, then the previous version should be restored. If you disagree, start a talk page discussion and get consensus. Mellk (talk) 13:48, 20 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Please do not attack other editors, as you did at Ivan Korponai. Comment on content, not on contributors. Personal attacks damage the community and deter users. Please stay cool and keep this in mind while editing. Thank you. Bbb23 (talk) 15:48, 31 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Contentious topics alert edit

You have recently made edits related to Eastern Europe or the Balkans. This is a standard message to inform you that Eastern Europe or the Balkans is a designated contentious topic. This message does not imply that there are any issues with your editing. Contentious topics are the successor to the former discretionary sanctions system, which you may be aware of. For more information about the contentious topics system, please see Wikipedia:Contentious topics. For a summary of difference between the former and new system, see WP:CTVSDS. "Motherfucker" edit

You called another editor (it's unclear to me if it's the immediately preceding editor or the NPR who intervened earlier) a motherfucker in your edit summary. Personal attacks of that sort will see you banned sooner rather than later, and it would be a shame as there are not many editors contributing to the topic of football in EE with the required language skills. Try to be more polite in the future, and if you really need to be critical of someone at least be more... creative (i.e. avoid insults). That way you might let off some steam without making an explicit and unnecessary personal attack. Cheers. Ostalgia (talk) 11:16, 1 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Then others should respect my contribution and not click ONE button and reverse all my work without checking carefully everything. I am contributing for FREE to Wikipedia and if others reverse ALL my work instead of reversing only what is necessary, then I will lose my motivation to contribute to Wikipedia. Cheers! Andriyrussu (talk) 17:00, 1 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Andriy Buleza moved to draftspace edit

An article you recently created, Andriy Buleza, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) WP:NFOOTY is no longer a valid SNG, so GNG must be met. It needs several refs from independent, reliable, secondary sources to pass WP:GNG. It should have at least 3 of those. Please remember that routine sports coverage does not satisfy GNG, and that interviews, being primary sources, do not go to notability either. Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. Image copyright problem with File:FC Sumy.png edit

Thank you for uploading File:FC Sumy.png.

This image is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such images would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a screenshot of a computer game or movie. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original image must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.

While the image description page states the source and copyright status of the derivative work, it only names the creator of the original work without specifying the status of their copyright over the work.

Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the original image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other derivative works, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. Thanks again for your cooperation. — Ирука13 15:35, 26 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Because WP:BLP does not have any exception and is valid at your personal page as well. Ymblanter (talk) 16:35, 1 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
I don't see any mentioning of "traitor" in the guideline. Perhaps you don't like my title, so you should also remove the map of Ukraine from your page, to keep up with your russophile contributions. Andriyrussu (talk) 16:41, 1 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

Andriyrussu, of course that violates the BLP. It also violates WP:UP#POLEMIC. I removed it. You can have a list of players, expatriate players, whatever, but you cannot call living people "traitors", not like this. Also, there was a handful of infoboxes that were clearly hoaxes. FYI, Ymblanter is correct: the BLP applies everywhere on Wikipedia. Drmies (talk) 18:44, 1 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

  • You are blocked for 72 hours--but note that this block comes after a couple of other blocks, and could have been longer. My interest right now is twofold: you need to stop the personal attacks (like that comment about Ymblanter, above--whatever that flag means, it's not a violation of the BLP, and it's not a violation of POLEMIC. Second, I need you to realize that what you are doing on that user page is just not acceptable. I have no idea what you mean with "FM", and so for me it is very confusing--and a hoax because these things are just not real. And, of course, "traitors" is a BLP violation. If that needs to be explained to you, then I foresee more trouble. Oh, it is not your user space: we're not a webhost. If, on the other hand, you understand these things now, you can be unblocked as soon as you acknowledge that you will abide by our guidelines. Drmies (talk) 19:05, 1 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
    • FM means Football Manager, it's a game where you have a profile and where you have a career, so I was just keeping a track for fun and for me. I never posed as coaches of that teams and never made edits on other pages about this. And if you don't know what means "FM" then don't edit pages and don't block users, before checking and being sure.
    • Okay, I will stop calling that people "traitors" to follow your guidelines, but Wikipedia censors freedom of opinion with this. Can you unblock me? Andriyrussu (talk) 19:18, 1 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
      • No, it is not my job to figure out what kind of imaginary games you play on your user page, and doing that violates our guidelines. "Freedom of opinion" does not apply on a private website in the way it does in a democratic country, and I get the feeling you have no idea what WP:BLP is all about. I need to know that you know what it is all about. OK? Drmies (talk) 19:38, 1 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

Ok. Can you paste the text I wrote in that request? I lost the request number, so I cannot recover the text.
If it is not possible, I am writing again. I understand my fault. Personal attacks are not accepted in Wikipedia and I am regretful to do it, because it didn't bring any benefit for me and for Wikipedia community. I promise I won't use any personal attacks in the future. Andriyrussu (talk) 14:20, 22 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Please stop this edit

Can you kindly stop doing it again and again. I proved you a couple of times with sources and this is more than enough. I realized you vandalized a lot of pages by renaming them without any disscusion on the the talk page. This is not right mate. Now you are using clones User:GultenTasgin, when this will end my friend ? Kolya77 (talk) 23:54, 22 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Kodjo Aziangbe edit

Hello, Andriyrussu

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Tails Wx, and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I've proposed an article that you started, Kodjo Aziangbe, for deletion because it meets one or more of our deletion criteria, and I don't think that it is suitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia. The particular issue can be found in the notice that is now visible at the top of the article.

If you wish to contest the deletion:

  1. Edit the page
  2. Remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. Click the Publish changes button.

If you object to the article's deletion, please remember to explain why you think the article should be kept on the article's talk page and improve the page to address the issues raised in the deletion notice. Otherwise, it may be deleted later by other means.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Tails Wx}}. And remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. Thanks!

Request reason:

I was blocked for using profanity against another user which happened during a edit warring. I understand that using profanity is not appropriate nor is edit warring. I am regretful for what I did. I like very much contributing to Wikipedia and I have been doing it for many years. Most of my contributions are positive and people sometimes make mistakes. I realised my mistakes and I promise to not repeat them. Please unblock me. Andriyrussu (talk) 00:16, 9 March 2024 (UTC) Andriyrussu (talk) 00:17, 9 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

  • Comment - please note that this user has been evading their block using User:Naxsy. I would like to see this user go a substantial amount of time without evading their block before being unblocked. Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 00:31, 9 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
What means substantial amount of time? Is there any rule or policy you are following? Andriyrussu (talk) 14:33, 25 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Spiderone @Mellk Any answer? Andriyrussu (talk) 14:40, 26 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Wikipedia:Standard offer answers your question - 6 months minimum. You are not allowed to evade your blocks by creating other accounts or using IPs otherwise the clock resets to 6 months from your last ban. BunicaValea was banned on 24 March 2024 so your earliest date for release is 24 Sep 2024. Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 18:02, 26 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Note that they are now editing using IPs (see the history for List of foreign Ukrainian Premier League players as an example) based in Portugal just like the previous socks. Mellk (talk) 03:02, 13 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

Andriyrussu:
I regret to inform you that your unblock request has been declined.
Blocking is not a punitive action but one done to protect the project from disruption. Since a block cannot retroactively prevent disruption that has already occurred, blocking is implicitly done to mitigate future disruption. Use of the blocking tool, therefore, is necessarily predictive and, as such, imperfect. In this case, there appears to be no debate as to the correctness of the initial block. When combined with the possibility — even an uncertain possibility — that evasion has occurred post-block, we would have no choice but to maintain it as the potential of future disruption is at its highest.
That said, I feel confident that — as others have noted — making a fresh unblock request in a quick six months will potentially be better received.
In the meantime, while you can no longer edit Wikipedia, you can continue to participate in the Wikipedia project as a non-editing reader.
Your prior contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated and your future contributions are anticipated.
Best regards,

I have sent you a note about a page you started edit

Hello, Andriyrussu. Thank you for your work on Ihor Horbach (footballer). Anwegmann, while examining this page as a part of our page curation process, had the following comments:

There are a lot of Ukrainian articles about this player. It would help quite a bit include citations and information from those sources so that this article isn't seen as WP:TOOSOON.

To reply, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Anwegmann}}. Please remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. (Message delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.)

Deletion discussion about Roman Savchenko (footballer) edit

Hello Andriyrussu, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

While your contributions are appreciated, I wanted to let you know that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, Roman Savchenko (footballer), should be deleted, as I am not sure that it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia in its current form. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Roman Savchenko (footballer).

Deletion discussions usually run for seven days and are not votes. Our guide about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. The most common issue in these discussions is notability, but it's not the only aspect that may be discussed; read the nomination and any other comments carefully before you contribute to the discussion. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Anwegmann}}. And don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!
