It is strong, exhibits hardly any decoration, and is so plain that it was at first thought to be a broken pot and was purchased for only £3,800. Yet it is one of only six helmets known to exist from Anglo-Saxon England, a scarcity that—along with other rare objects found with the helmet, such as a pattern-welded sword and hanging bowl—suggests its owner was a high-status warrior. Pioneer Helmet

Hi Usernameunique; thought of you today when I visited the Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds and saw the Pioneer Helmet. There was a good bit of information about it, so I think visitors will realise it was something worth noticing. It was great to see it up close after reading about it on Wikipedia. It was in a very dark case, though, so I don't think I wouldn't have been able to take a better picture than the one currently used in the Wikipedia article... John Doubleday (restorer)

Rather than talk on the FAC page, I thought it better to bring the discussion here. I'm afraid that, through no fault of yours, the FAC is something of a poster child for FACs languishing at the bottom of the list. We could discuss it all day, but I would not have been happy promoting right now, and I suspect neither would the other coordinators. And the fact that it has been there over two months means that we have to call a halt sometime. But an archived nomination is hardly an albatross, and I think that a restarted nomination is the best course of action, and will probably bring more review. If those who supported before do so again, that is fine, and we may get a little more commentary, which would be needed for promotion. I can even add a note to the top of the page when you renominate to explain why it was archived (and had this not been open for more than two months, the comments it received would not have meant that we needed to archive, it could have sat for longer.) Sarastro1, thanks for the responses. With three supports, I would have thought this article was not languishing at the bottom of the page, but waiting to be promoted at the bottom of the page. Ian Rose's comment from the 7th would seem to imply this also, focused as it was on a minor image issue. I'm terribly sorry I didn't see this earlier (basically, I just stopped at the Honours section), but the Bibliography could use citations as well, not for the titles that have articles, but the red links. Ideally, you have a single source that has her complete bibliography and you can use it for the entire section, but if that doesn't exist, you can combine things like WorldCat and other sources so that readers can verify that these titles aren't made up. Horncastle helmet fragment

Any progress on this? The page title says it was a helmet fragment. The lead disagrees, saying it was attached to "a larger object, such as a helmet". They can't both be right. - Dank (push to talk) 18:55, 13 June 2019 (UTC)

UNU, we wouldn't want an article lead saying in one paragraph that McCartney was one of the Beatles and in another paragraph that he was a member of some group, such as the Beatles. Jennifer Foster is an English scholar of prehistoric and medieval archaeology. She teaches at the University of Reading, and has published three monographs, one on Iron Age and Roman boar figurines, one on the Lexden tumulus, and one an introduction to European archaeology before the Roman conquest, based on the collection in the British Ashmolean Museum. In a 1995 article she argued that Iron Age metalsmiths in Britain might have been itinerant rather than having a fixed abode, and would produce groups of goods at single sites like Gussage All Saints, Dorset.
