Howard Hinton

Dear RHaworth I have just returned to my draft article on Howard Hinton after many weeks to find you deleted it. I am an unpractised beginner in Wikipedia and have great trouble remembering formatting code and protocols. The article was deleted because I quoted a sentence from an online source, which I cited in a footnote. Coming from an old research background I thought quoting and citing was appropriate. My mistake. However, I put dozens of hours into the Hinton article reading widely in books, journals and online, and your deletion has wiped it all away. Several of those print sources have been returned to the library and another owner. When the notice about speedy deletion was posted I removed the offending sentence and the citation, and thought this would prevent deletion, but not so. I'm afraid I didn't keep a separate file. Can you please give me access to the text. I hope to complete the article on this very worthy subject (witness his inclusion in the Australian Dictionary of Biography). I now know the policy on direct quoting. Thank you. Dirrigeree (talk) 01:52, 6 September 2017 (UTC)

Thanks. I have since read wikilinks policy, I'm sure I'll be able to comply, and have set my preferences to "enable e-mail from other users". Though I'm not sure where I will see e-mail from other users. Still hoping I don't put a foot wrong. and you will resurrect my text. My 'Creating Draft' page is at: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Draft:Howard_Hinton&action=edit&redlink=1 -- Dirrigeree (talk) 15:04, 7 September 2017 (UTC)

  • Dirrigeree, absolutely incredible! You claim to have read wikilinks "policy" (it is not a policy: it is just a mark-up standard) and in the very same edit you demonstrate that you have no idea about them! Please see what I did to your first message with this edit. You have enabled email but have you actually entered your email address in your preferences? I will persist with this because being an Old Shitgiftian goes a bit towards confirming notability. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 10:47, 8 September 2017 (UTC)

Thank you RHaworth I have now added my email address. Please believe I am not trying to be disingenuous or to cheat on Wikipedia standards, I hope for the best standard I can achieve. I am trying to write articles related to my regional art museum NERAM as a volunteer at their request, and I'm sure I am a clunky learner and unfortunately a fast forgetter of codes and protocols previously learnt. As I said , I put many hours into researching and have read several books and articles on this man, and if nothing else I'd simply like to retrieve my text, as the draft space was the only place it was kept. As I remember I did correct the quoting error and will build that understanding of how to treat sources into future writing. Thanks again, --Dirrigeree (talk) 23:53, 13 September 2017 (UTC)

Pile of G6-able redirects

As the one who deleted most of my taggings of obviously created in error sandbox redirects such as Danquintin/sandbox, would you mind deleting the rest of them, listed at User:Train2104/sandbox, so I don't have to tag them all one by one? Thanks. – Train2104 (t • c) 03:09, 6 September 2017 (UTC)

Hi, Indefinite full Salting of 3 pages you once deleted in July. Hi, authenticating an award winning filmmaker of Indian Regional Language Kannada film Industry. I would like to know what authentication would you require about the filmmaker, whose film has won state govt Best Debut Film Of Newcomer Director 2016 Karnataka State_Film Awards, Best Film in Bangalore International Film Festival[1], and is the only 3rd film to be selected to be streamed on Netflix [2] for which I have the supporting links attached. Deleting templates under CSD T2

Please do not delete templates like Template:Italian-short-film-stub under WP:CSD#T2 unless that criterion (summarised as "Misrepresentation of policy") really does apply. Stub templates (which are all built around {{asbox}}) are largely informational, they do not not state any policy, so cannot be misrepresenting policy. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 08:45, 6 September 2017 (UTC)

Babloo Prithiveeraj

Hi there,

I feel the 2017 deletion of the article Babloo Prithiveeraj was almost done without considering the mass changes between it and the 2015 version. The actor is well known, in both the film and television circuit across South India, and has enjoyed recognition for over 25 years. Through my experiences and knowledge of Tamil cinema, he is probably the most high profile personality remaining without a Wikipedia page. It's actually a bit strange to see no page for someone with a career as distinguished as his. Please could you allow the page to be recreated / unblocked. Thank you. Hi again, i'm still struggling to make any progress, will you acknowledge you're receiving my messages? I have been reading that on my sandbox where I see that its been deleted, I read that there should be a 'contest the deletion, or something similar, I can't find it - PLEASE please can i get my work back and point me in the direction of how to make it correct? How can I make progress, i've clicked on nearly everything on this site now at least i'm learning a lot haha. — Janeykeithy (talk) 09:43, 7 September 2017 (UTC)

Hello there I've been searching around these Wiki pages for over a day now. Tuesday night I worked all night on a page, it was my first attempt as a wiki anything all this time later i've found waht i think is an indication that you deleted it? Can i get it back please? If i had not done something correctly it's because i'm just learning how Not sure i'm finding this a terribly friebndly community either to be perfectly honest But hopefully i'm right that it was you who deleted it, and even though i don't know the link (it was in my sandbox that's all i know and i submitted it for review then spent then til now clicking so many areas.. if you can find it please please return it to me So seriously if i make an error it just gets thrown out? could you advise me on how to be successful? — Janeykeithy (talk) 07:03, 7 September 2017 (UTC)

I'm just another editor. You posted in the right place just wait for this Admin to reply. Your sandbox was deleted because it was judged to contain material not suitable for wikipedia's goals. I don't know what was there. Legacypac (talk) 12:14, 7 September 2017 (UTC)
  • Possibly deletion was a bit harsh. Things that triggered the quality controllers: lack of a lede, horrible shouted and external links scattered throughout the article. Text emailed. try again via AfC. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 13:52, 7 September 2017 (UTC)

engage:BDR

I am an employee of the company engage:BDR and I noticed you deleted the article written about engage:BDR. In writing the article are intention was to make the article as neutral as possible and not to sound promotional or advertise. In other words, we were trying to write an encyclopedia article, not an advertisement.

Shortly after publishing an article a Wikipedia contributor by the name of menaechmi placed an advertisement banner on the article. I made some revisions to the article and then contacted "menaechmi" on her Wikipedia talk page for further advice. "menaechmi" was most helpful in helping me with the article by correcting the title of the page and pointed to certain aspects of the article which could be viewed as promotional. menaechmi then put another banner up on engage:BDR's talk page indicating she thought the article was within the scope of Wikipedia internet as well as one other. Before I was able to make any changes to the article it was marked for speedy deletion and then deleted. The reason stated was not an issue with the notability of the subject but with the tone of the article something that I was actively working with another Wikipedia writer to address. I find this lack of time to address issues with the article unfair.

We are willing to make the revisions necessary so the article does not sound promotional or like an advertisement. But would like you to be more specific on what changes are needed. We are more than certain that engage:BDR meets the criteria for an encyclopedia article for engage:BDR has evolved from a small ad exchange company to a company that has revolutionized the advertising industry. We have drastically changed not only how ads are developed and placed but how they interact with the target audience. This has led us to be sought out by both Fortune 500 companies and some of the most well-known politicians. In about a week we will have our initial public offering on the Australian stock exchange [3]. — 123engage (talk) 01:08, 8 September 2017 (UTC)

Globules

Take another look at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Milk fat globule membrane? I think it is possible that you messed up here by reading too quickly. Unfortunately now that the page is gone I can't check its history to be sure, but I never saw any sign that the original author asked for deletion -- and even then I'm not sure that deletion was proper. The request on the AfD was to withdraw the deletion nom, not the article. I realize I can ask for a review, but I thought it would be better to bring the question to your attention here first. Best regards, Looie496 (talk) 14:29, 8 September 2017 (UTC)

Never mind. I see that the article exists now as a draft. — Looie496 (talk) 00:32, 9 September 2017 (UTC)

  • Looie, your first message would have been more comprehensible if you had used a phrase such as "the nominator changed their mind". Builder Levy speedy deletion

Page referred to: Draft:Builder Levy. Hi, I'm new to all this, so I hope I'm not doing something wrong by writing this as well as posting on my Talk page. It's all a bit confusing to me right now... anyway this is what I wrote: Hi, this is my first post and it was very quickly deleted without any way for me to contest. I don't see why I wasn't given that courtesy.

I maintain the website for Bulder Levy (http://builderlevy.com/), and I was instructed by Builder Levy to use his existing page as a basis for a Wikipedia entry for him. It was my understanding that eventually others would edit/contribute to the article, but I didn't realize that the existing article was not allowed to be used as a template to start the process. (I would like to know if there would have been a problem copying an existing Wikipedia page onto Mr. Levy's site, but I digress.) I would like to opportunity to update Builder's site with a copyleft notice. If I do so, will this page be restored? As I said, I wasn't given the opportunity to address this before the page was deleted. Thanks for your help and patience with a new editor. — Mahalo, Wiesel Werkstätte (talk) 22:42, 9 September 2017 (UTC)

Just a question, did you see the message I posted on the talk page for S. Perera (Kurunegala Youth Cricket Club cricketer)? The other KYCC cricketer pages (A. Devapriya, K. de Silva, N. Fernando and N. Kumara) were deleted by PROD but for some reason this one was sent to AfD instead. We are currently having a lot of unresolved conversation on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Tom Cranston as to articles which meet WP:CRIN guidelines being deleted by WP:GNG when guidelines marked here and at WP:SPORTSPERSON are completely incompatible with, and contradict, each other. I would be interested in what you think about this. No grudge held. All the best. Bobo. 20:48, 10 September 2017 (UTC)

Bibliographycruft

Regarding: Bibliography of The Federal Home Loan Banking System & this page. The page was a copy of a scholarly bibliography on the Federal Home Loan Banking System, but it was not a copyright infringement. The paper even says that anyone may share or use and that it will be put up on the wikipedia for use. The author wants it on Wiki so that other scholars may add to it & use it. The Federal Home Loan Banking System is a massive part of the American economy just like Fannie and Freddie. I am just one of the research assistants he's had over the last few years developing this list of scholarly work on the FHLB & how it impacts savings and loans mortgages. When creating this page, I had the bibliography on Fannie and Freddie that is here on Wiki open and was trying to conform this page to the same specs so that they were harmonious, making small edits and comparing the two. I realize I am new and it's a steep learning curve but I am trying, please forgive my frustrations. I will try to do better. — LuciBLSRA (talk) 14:50, 11 September 2017 (UTC)

  • I call it pure listcruft. Unfortunately there is good precedent for this particular great lump of listcruft so I have recreated the title. Go to the existing listcruft add a link to abstract 3029293 and add to the list any titles which appear in abstract 3029293 but not in abstract 2126571 - I suspect it will be a relatively small number. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 15:10, 11 September 2017 (UTC)
  • Now that I have bothered to read your message, I see that you are aware of the existing bibliography. I stick by my advice. If you really think a separate bibliography is justified, propose it at talk:bibliography of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac rather than attempting to create it. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 15:21, 11 September 2017 (UTC)

WilliamGasarch-OfficePortrait-Sept2009

Hi RHaworth. I noticed that you deleted this file per WP:F9. It's possible that the file might have been mistakenly tagged in good faith, and the photo is actually the own work of the uploader based upon this edit sum. Just a little background on this photo, the same photo under a different name was uploaded to Commons. It was subsequently deleted for lacking permission there, but Commons admin/OTRS volunteer c:User:Storkk was in contact with Gasarch himself to try and sort out the licensing. It's possible that the file uploaded by Egolub was a result of Storkk's efforts. Anyway, I was in the process of asking Storkk at c:User talk:Storkk#File:Bill Gasarch.jpg when Wikipedia file got tagged and subsequently deleted. Would it be possible at this stage for Egolub to send in a WP:CONSENT to OTRS to verify that he/she is the copyright holder of the photo? -- Marchjuly (talk) 00:36, 13 September 2017 (UTC)

  • I deleted the image because of the misleading and probably invalid message "I still have the sole rights to license this image to other outlets that do not want to mark their product as CC-SA-4". It is perfectly simple: Egolub must get permission via OTRS and then upload the image to Commons with a cc-by-sa-4.0 licence and stop trying to apply additional conditions. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 19:04, 13 September 2017 (UTC)
Thanks for clarifying RHaworth. Storkk has said he will try and get in contact with Gasrch again, so hopefully it will all get sorted out. -- Marchjuly (talk) 00:29, 14 September 2017 (UTC)

  • What three words follow the G12 in the deletion log entry and which of them do you not understand? — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 19:45, 13 September 2017 (UTC)

I understand the words "unambiguous copyright infringement" in the abstract but they lack context and thus meaning. Who was the infringer? And what was the infringement of the content at this url? I am the owner of that copyrighted material and am unaware of the infringement. Also, why would an asserted infringement within a Wikipedia page result in the deletion of the entire page? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cbuskirk (talkcontribs) 20:07, 14 September 2017 (UTC)

  • The page at amgreatness.com is unambiguously marked "All Rights Reserved". Therefore an article here which consists mainly of direct quotes form that page is a copyright infringement. Why is that difficult to understand? We do not do copyvios here, even in edit histories. Therefore the whole page had to go. But there was another, stronger reason for deletion - no attempt made to demonstrate notability. Kindly have the decency to wait until someone with no CoI thinks your blog is notable and writes about it here. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 13:03, 16 September 2017 (UTC)

1. Quotes are not copyright infringement in the U.S. Why is that difficult to understand? That was the reason you gave for deleting the page, but it is not valid. With that in mind, please restore the page. 2. I have no idea who the author of the page was. Do you? If so, what makes you believe there was Conflict of Interest? The reason you cite for removing the page was copyright infringement. That's why I responded as the publisher of the site. But now when asked about you have alleged a conflict of interest. Please identify the conflict. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cbuskirk (talkcontribs)

  • The CoI is with you! "Publisher of the site" is an unambiguous declaration of CoI. Usdan Summer Camp for the Arts page

Hi - I was wondering if you would be able to tell me why the Usdan Summer Camp for the Arts page was deleted. I'd gotten a notification the other day from another user who said that the page was simply a vanity page, but I didn't get a chance to address those claims before it was deleted. The article had links to other sites besides the website, but the most up to date information, is indeed on Usdan's website. I certainly don't want to violate any rules, so any details you could give me would be helpful so a new page won't get deleted in the future. Edit: I'm just seeing that it says copyright infringement, but I have permission to post information from the website. Best, Lrwatson (talk) 15:04, 14 September 2017 (UTC)

  • I have mixed feelings about this: you have a declared CoI and the article was far too long and written in unencyclopedic tone: "calling all actors!", "an amazing opportunity", etc. Read donating copyrighted materials but most of the stuff from the website is probably unsuitable. On the other hand the article has survived for ten years. I have done a partial restore. Mike Stuchbery's Photo

File:Mike Stuchbery 02.jpg
Where?

Hello RHaworth, I just created the following article: Mike Stuchbery. Was surprised to see the first photo I had uploaded for it didn't show up, so I reuploaded it, only afterwards realizing that you had deleted it. (I had assumed I had made a mistake during the upload.) I'm sure there is a specific reason for this. It may be of note that both images used in the Wiki article were handed out to me by Stuchbery himself, as I asked him if it was OK to create an article on him, and if he had photos that he would share for it. Best, Benedict VividImpression (talk) 20:38, 16 September 2017 (UTC)

  • Please: learn wikilinks and read this. Since he is a living person we will only accept images under a Creative Commons licence and they should be uploaded to the Commons. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 20:55, 16 September 2017 (UTC)

Sorry for having wasted your time on this ^^ I hope it's fine now. See, I was aware of the latter point, but failed when I first went through Commons, thinking I had made a mistake and had to upload them through Wikipedia for them to enter the Commons instead. A really good system all in all, but still a bit overwhelming if you're only intermittently working on articles. Best, Benedict VividImpression (talk) 21:29, 16 September 2017 (UTC)

T4

Regarding this discussion, I've been working on and off for the last year or so to get a "T4" CSD parameter going that would essentially be a template PROD ("unused template, delete if nomination is still here after a week"). However, every time I bring it up I get shut down. It would be nice to have one, though. Would save on a hell of a lot of useless TFDs. Primefac (talk) 02:02, 17 September 2017 (UTC)

  • Confusingly, the standard log file entry for T3 is simply "unused, redundant template". A better solution would be to weaken the rather silly conditions for T3 to simply the one you propose for a new T4. If you want to try again to propose a change, let me know and I will support you strongly. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 16:22, 18 September 2017 (UTC)

Bellows mender

Hi RHaworth, The article I created for actor Matthew Bellows was recently deleted per your note it violated copyright terms (from Matthew's imdb page). While I'd tried to model the language and formatting in the article after some of the actor's cast members' wiki pages, it may have still been too similar to the imdb page. If possible, I'd like the opportunity to amend the (reactivated) article to fix the issue, or to restart the article, bearing your notes in mind. Please let me know if this is possible-- wiki directed me to contacting you before preceding to recreate it, and I'd appreciate any other feedback you may have. Help

I noticed that you deleted a page - Jane Bloomingdale - that was created by EditingFunFunFun (talk · contribs). That user appears to have made the exact same edits to every Republican member of the Iowa house. Since you have at least a passing knowledge, can I get your thoughts on the rest of the user's edits? They seem, at the very least, to run foul of WP:POV. Appreciate it! -- Dolotta (talk) 06:46, 18 September 2017 (UTC)

Paul peters.jpg

Hi I'm afraid I don't understand why this image has been rejected. I have the permission of the owner of the image to use it in this article (she took the photo). Is it that you need to see proof of her permission? Or does she need to give the image a different licence? Please advise. Thanks PointOfPresence (talk) 09:01, 18 September 2017 (UTC)

OK, I see from the guidance that mere permission is not sufficient (thought I can't see why!). It apparently has to be "free content." the following quote is from the person who actually took the photograph (I can forward her email to you if need be). "I am hereby relinquishing all rights to the image of Paul at the first Conference on Open Access Scholarly Communications. The photo was taken Sept 15, 2009. I am placing this image in the public domain. Caroline Sutton". — PointOfPresence (talk) 10:21, 18 September 2017 (UTC)

I have tried re-uploading the image with a description that reflects this, but the licence drop down does not allow me to select "public domain" or "free content." Why not? - what do you advise? — PointOfPresence (talk) 10:26, 18 September 2017 (UTC)

(talk page watcher)(Non-administrator comment) Hi PointOfPresence. I don't really think you need to re-upload the file again; in fact, you probably shouldn't. Files which are deleted aren't really gone forever, but rather they are only hidden from public view. Files with licensing/permission problems can usually be "undeleted" once their licensing has been sorted out. My suggestion is that you take a look at c:COM:OTRS#If you are NOT the copyright holder, and WP:CONSENT. The first page is a Wikimedia Commons page, but the information is the same for Wikipedia, while the second page is the type of permission the copyright holder is going to be expected to give. Once you are sure that's what the copyright holder wants to do, she can simply send the permissions email to OTRS herself. She should include the name of the file in her email. An OTRS volunteer will check the email and verify the licensing, and the file will be restored if there are no problems. After she sends in the email, the file may even be temporarily restored and tagged with Template:OTRS pending or Template:OTRS received while its being processed. If everything is OK, and an OTRS volunteer will add Template:OTRS permission to the file's page. After she emails OTRS, she should get an automatic reply containing an OTRS ticket number. This number can be used to ask question about the file at WP:OTRSN if necessary. -- Marchjuly (talk) 12:21, 18 September 2017 (UTC)
It appears you figured things out with File:PaulPetersbyCarolineSutton.jpg, and the licensing does look OK. However, you might still want to consider asking Ms. Sutton to send something to OTRS for further verification. Occasionally, Flickr files are challenged at Commons per c:COM:LL, but OTRS verified files are pretty much never going to be deleted. -- Marchjuly (talk) 12:45, 18 September 2017 (UTC)

Many thanks for your help. Yes, I have now managed to upload the image. Apologies for taking some time to get to grips with the rules. We will look into the OTRS aspect you indicate. — PointOfPresence (talk) 13:10, 18 September 2017 (UTC)

  • PointOfPresence, it is not a case of "might consider" - you must: learn how to link to an image description page rather than using the image; ask Caroline to provide a decent size version of the image instead of the thumbnail you have uploaded and forward evidence of permission to the address given here. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 16:22, 18 September 2017 (UTC)

Moonstone Arts Center Page Deletion

Hello, I am planning to recreate/ repost the Moonstone Arts Center page, based off the information at http://www.moonstoneartscenter.org/about/ as it is now under both the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International License and the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.3. Is there a way that you can revoke the deletion? Thanks - nhenty

Deletion: Draft:Window Nation

Hello, I was directed to you by User:Whispering after the deletion of a page about Window Nation was cited for copyright infringement. I was looking for feedback on a revision I came up with after reading the article on close paraphrasing and was hoping you could take a look and let me know if this is acceptable. Also, I see that you generally ask that anyone with a CoI wait until a page is created on the topic. If you feel that way in this case, would you suggest that I add it as a request for AfC?

Thanks very much in advance and for your work in the Wikipedia community. source article. — Aswopewmx (talk) 20:26, 20 September 2017 (UTC)

Debris documentar

Please restore my article. I was out of home so I did not have time to contest your deletion and only saw it now. To reiterate: I translated it from the German equivalent Wiki, so, obviously, they did not have a problem vis-a-vis notability/importance over there (and I added references to reliable sources), plus, my article was approved here by another editor via the articles for creation apparatus. As for content: no, it was not vandalism. I realize the film's content is, to put it mildly, not everyone's cup of tea, yet, everything described in the text actually happened in the film. I have worked hard on this entry: Please reply ASAP. Here is what another editor wrote me over at deletion review: "Overturn and trout the deleting admin. The reason given in the deletion log was "Please review content. No indication of importance, verges on vandalism", which is what the tagger wrote. That kind of implies it was an A7 deletion, but the article was about a film and A7 does not apply to films. Even if A7 did apply to films the article cited a couple of sources which should have circumvented this. I don't remotely see how this could possibly be vandalism. Granted, the content of the film is obviously rather disgusting (it's about cannibalism), but that certainly doesn't make it vandalism." Three more editors came and argued for restoration since. -- 79.183.203.120 (talk) 20:31, 20 September 2017 (UTC)

  • Consider yourself lucky that I am talking to an IP address. So why did you not link to the German version? And yes they do have a problem - have you read the hat note to it? So which of the cited sources even mentions this movie? Try again via AfC if you must. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 13:08, 21 September 2017 (UTC)

German version from which I translated is here. Here is the main source I cited which discusses the film at length. Four editors have by now replied over at deletion review and all said the original reasoning for deletion was spurious. -- 79.183.203.120 (talk) 13:14, 21 September 2017 (UTC)

I have another discussion here and here too. -- 79.183.203.120 (talk) 13:33, 21 September 2017 (UTC)

Laurent La Gamba - draft page deletion

Hello RHaworth. I understand that you recently deleted my draft article Laurent La Gamba for apparent copyright violation. This was my first article submission to wikipedia and I believed that I had correctly attributed my sources. However I understand that there is still an issue and am not trying to subvert wikipedia policies. I am keen to review the content of the article and take whatever remedial steps are necessary to ensure that the content meet the relevant criteria. I understand that it may not be possible to have the page undeleted. However are you able to restore the page to format where I can review & edit it prior to resubmitting it as a draft for review? or alternatively emailing a copy to me so I can take the necessary action? Your assistance in this matter is greatly appreciated. — Neverland1972 (talk) 10:07, 23 September 2017 (UTC)

  • I am willing to email you your text: read this. Note that when I see shouted section headings (and some in bold as well!), I consider it vandalism and delete for that reason as well. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 12:17, 23 September 2017 (UTC)

redirect to a redirect?

In regards to this: why are we keeping a redirect to a redirect? Chris Troutman (talk) 19:44, 23 September 2017 (UTC)

A bot fixed the double redirects. So that I understand, isn't it always permissable to CSD a double-redirect? I'm not talking about the issue of the search term, just the double-redirect created by an editor being POINTy. Chris Troutman (talk) 22:51, 23 September 2017 (UTC)

  • Chris, of course it is not always permissible to "CSD a double-redirect". Every redirect must be assessed on its merits on the basis of the ultimate target of any redirect chain. Thus enclosure of commons seemed a useful redirect so I kept it. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 18:55, 25 September 2017 (UTC)

Regarding Speedy Deletion of Sandbox Page

Hello Roger Greetings for the day! I write to you in concern with a sanbox page created by myself while first trying to understand how publishing on Wikipedia works. Page Link - User:Connect2piyush/sandbox. Please help me understand the cause for speedy deletion. I believe the sandbox page would have helped me like a development workspace to get a hands-on for writing on Wikipedia. My intent here is to eventually create an informative page for my organization. I await your response to guide me on how I can create a good informative page within Wikipedia guidelines. What does a move do?

Newbie to Wikipedia procedures here. Test subpage was moved, then deleted. Hello, I made a test user subpage yesterday using the instructions on the Wikipedia "User Pages" help page, just to see if it would work. Decided to use it to keep notes on pages I'm looking at (i.e. notes on what needs to be fixed). As far as I know. this is an acceptable use of a user subpage. Took me awhile to figure out the formatting language, but I finally finished putting my info on the subpage. Then I saw that someone else moved it, and that you subsequently deleted it (LOL). However, I can still see the page, including the new info. Not that big of a deal since I can always make another, but am quite confused. Do I need to make another page, or was it rescued from deletion once I added info to it? Any help you can give would be appreciated. Thanks! ~ Big universe (talk) 21:33, 26 September 2017 (UTC)

Hi, figured out that the page was moved because I forgot to add "User:" to the page before creating it, so it was created in the "mainspace" instead of my "userspace." But still don't know why the "deleted" page and the info are still visible. Not a concern, though, as long as I can still see/use it.
Looked at the link you provided for "Cross-namespace redirects". Not quite sure how this relates to my user subpage, since there were no redirects of any kind involved AFAIK. Perhaps I am misreading or misunderstanding something? Don't want to keep making mistakes resulting from preventable ignorance.
Thanks for your time ~ Big universe (talk) 04:40, 27 September 2017 (UTC)

San-Suk Dormitory

Hello, RHaworth. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "San-Suk Dormitory for Underprivledged Hill-tribe Children".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. LinguistunEinsuno 08:43, 29 September 2017 (UTC)
