Slovenly is a word I find myself using quite a bit at the moment. Slovenly is what I think of anybody who leaves a message here about an article and fails to provide a wikilink to the article. How do you expect me to read the article if you don't link to it? Even if the article has been deleted, you should still link to it.
I reserve the right to ignore any message which does not provide links where appropriate, has no heading, is in the wrong place on this page or has not been signed with ~~~~.

Question on deleted page

Hello RHaworth. I'm following up on a page created by a former employee of my company that you deleted on August 5th. I've enabled my account for email. Can we connect directly? I'd like to learn how to address the issues raised and restore the page. Thank you. -- adamnash —Preceding undated comment added 18:01, 3 September 2013 (UTC)

Good lord, no! Please wait until someone with no conflict of interest thinks your company is notable and writes about it here. The least you could've done is linked to it.--Launchballer 18:18, 3 September 2013 (UTC)
  • Why do you need email? This page is the correct place to "connect directly" on Wikipedia matters. Launchballer is right but I might be able to give you more specific advice if you could actually manage tell me which of the 58 deletions I did on Aug 5 you are talking about. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 20:30, 3 September 2013 (UTC)

RHaworth, apologies. While I've used Wikipedia for a long time including edits on a few pages, I've never run into an issue like this before. Happy to post here if that is more appropriate. The page in question is for "Wealthfront", which is the company that I work for. I was forwarded a thread about a number of edits made by a former employee of the company, and wanted to understand the issues with the page and how they can be addressed and avoid problems in the future.

Launchballer, please note that I'm not proposing to personally author a page or any other form of promotional use of Wikipedia. We've now had a number of clients report to us that our page has been deleted, and since the employee responsible is no longer with the company, I'm trying to figure out what mistakes were made, and to help ensure they don't happen again. I'll defer to others on the judgement of notability. Wealthfront is growing rapidly, however, so the issue is being noticed by general users. — Adamnash (talk) 01:44, 17 September 2013 (UTC)

  • Text emailed. Possibly a marginal case but the language was distinctly spammy and thoroughly deserved the {{peacock}} tag. "The issue is being noticed by general users" - but is the company being noticed? If it is, you don't need to do anything - someone with no COI will be writing it up soon. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 12:26, 17 September 2013 (UTC)

Thank you. It seems suboptimal to lose the whole page rather than cut out the offending parts. Is that not possible? Adamnash (talk) 15:04, 17 September 2013 (UTC)

  • But if you cut the offending parts from this article there will be nothing left! — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 11:09, 18 September 2013 (UTC)

The text of the page did not seem to come through my email, so I'll have to take your word for it. Thanks for the time.Adamnash (talk) 15:18, 18 September 2013 (UTC)

  • Emailed again. If you still have not got it, check the email address you have set up in your user preferences. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 18:14, 18 September 2013 (UTC)

I got it. Thank you. The first got caught by Gmail spam filter for some reason. I can see the issues flagged clearly now, and understand the problem. Given that I have COI, is it worth me editing down to small, factual post with references (no added content, just deletions)? Or does COI issue cover all edits, including deletions? Adamnash (talk) 17:22, 19 September 2013 (UTC)

  • Since the article does not currently exist, it would not be a deletion but a new submission and COI would certainly apply. If you really insist on getting an article in, try finding a sponsor. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 18:32, 19 September 2013 (UTC)

Boarding for Breast Cancer

You deleted Boarding for Breast Cancer's Wikipedia page on 2013 July 8 and I'm not sure why. It looks like it was cited as saying "promotional text, copy/paste from websites". Is there a way you can restore it and I can fix the parts that are considered promotional and copy/paste from websites or apply the correct citations? — Lizatags (talk) 22:15, 3 September 2013 (UTC)

  • A syndrome that one sees from time to time: a decent article lasts for a while then someone with a COI expands it into blatant spam and it gets rightfully deleted. I have restored a less spammy version. Do not put back any spam but do improve the evidence of notability. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 22:53, 3 September 2013 (UTC)

TIPPS

I have a question regarding the deletion of the TIPPS Wikipedia page (September 3, 2013). This was cited: A7: Article about a company, corporation or organization, which does not indicate the importance or significance of the subject. TIPPS began the TOEFL and SAT test prep sector in Turkey, as it was the first educational institution to offer such courses. Now, this is a booming industry. Furthermore, it even says in the rules that A7 does not apply to educational institutions, which TIPPS clearly is. We mentioned these points when we contested the speedy deletion post that was added, but no response was given. Can I get a more complete answer for why the page was deleted? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sercandemirtas (talkcontribs) 14:41, 4 September 2013 (UTC)

  • OK, I suppose a crammer is an educational institution but given the past history of this article, I feel unashamed in deleting it again. Feel free to raise the matter at deletion review. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 18:35, 4 September 2013 (UTC)

An editor has asked for a deletion review of TIPPS. Because you closed the deletion discussion for this page, speedily deleted it, or otherwise were interested in the page, you might want to participate in the deletion review. Sercandemirtas (talk) 06:17, 5 September 2013 (UTC)

Mark Burns (photographer)

Help! My sandbox page is showing up on Google (below my article) when I google my article on Mark Burns (photographer). My sandbox is: (Kathycabe sandbox) How can I get this to stop showing up when I google my articile? Thanks for your help! Kathycabe (talk) 14:47, 4 September 2013 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) I don't think that's possible. Google is a third-party site, and Wikipedia has no direct control over whereabouts any pages in it appear in a search ranking. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 14:50, 4 September 2013 (UTC)
  • Please learn to provide links: tell us exactly what Google search you were doing like this; your sandbox is not (Kathycabe sandbox) it is user:Kathycabe/sandbox. Google now indexes new articles with frightening rapidity. It is not quite as quick at unindexing them when they are deleted but it does so eventually. There was no need to request deletion of your sandbox - blanking it would have been enough. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 18:35, 4 September 2013 (UTC)

A short moan

Sorry, I've been working on NPP / AfC today and fancy a short whinge to a sympathetic ear. Have you ever noticed that articles about companies that get speedied per A7 or G11 (or both) frequently say very little about what the company is and what it does, but go into great depth about who runs the company, the biographies of the founders, how much they bought it for, or how much the founders sold it for? Why is that? — Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 14:48, 4 September 2013 (UTC)

  • Don't tell anybody else but the amount of time I devote to assessing the average {{db-inc}} is insufficient for me to form any opinion on the bias you speak of. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 18:35, 4 September 2013 (UTC)

Bernstein Crisis Management

Hey RHaworth, I saw that you speedily deleted Bernstein Crisis Management's page despite my contesting the deletion, and my question to the other admin to allow me to continue to work on the page. Can you allow me to continue working on the page to fix the issues you saw with it? After the page being nominated, I only had 4 minutes to contest the deletion before you killed it. I am a bit worried...

about the nominator's apparent lack of understanding of MOS or WP:BEFORE prior to his decision to tag a poorly written by an inexperienced editor article about a Japanese TV Mini-Series Mischievous Kiss: Love in Tokyo for speedy deletion as "unambiguous advert", rather than applying WP:CLEANUP tags. The thing did not contain any promotional language... only simple unsourced reporting of a television series. The lede neutrally stating

"It is based on the Japanese manga Itazura Na Kiss written by Tada Kaoru. The Japanese series is the fifth television adaptation of the manga, following the Japanese Itazura Na Kiss (TV Asashi) in 1996, the Taiwanese It Started With a Kiss in 2005, its sequel They Kiss Again in 2007, and the Korean Playful Kiss in 2010."

seems to me to assert enough notability.

The actual title is "Itazura na Kiss: Love in Tokyo" and it's not as if the topic were an unsourcable hoax. See the Japanese language results below... and the others:

Mixed:(Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL)
Japanese:(Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL)
English:(Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL)

As its fans are already petitioning for a second season, I think tagging it for sourcing and trimming and seeking assistance and input from Japanese-reading Wikipedians would have been better than outright deletion. Your thoughts? Schmidt, Michael Q. 08:54, 6 September 2013 (UTC)

Request

Please help delete this obsolete page, thankyou. --Amazonien (talk) 15:46, 6 September 2013 (UTC)

  • Sorry, no. When a talk archive has been created by a cut and paste from the main user talk page so that the only edits in the archive have been made by the "owner" or an archiving bot, then we are happy to delete. But in this case the archive was created by moving the user talk page (something I do myself). The archive therefore contains edits by others and we are unwilling to delete it. The best I can offer is that I can move it back to User_talk:Amazonien "under" the present edit to that page. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 16:06, 6 September 2013 (UTC)

3rd condition of equilibrium

Yo, RHaworth, I saw that you deleted 3rd condition of equlibrium. That article was a duplicate of the one linked above, with a slightly misspelled title. I didn't feel that it qualified for A10, but it's, uh, pretty clearly going to be deleted one way or another. The author declined my PROD, so it's at AfD at a moment, but I don't think anyone would complain if you felt like closing the AfD early and deleting the article. Totally up to you, though; just letting you know. Thanks! :) Writ Keeper (WK to move) 18:38, 6 September 2013 (UTC)

Also, apparently he re-created the one you did delete already, so there's that. Writ Keeper (WK to move) 18:39, 6 September 2013 (UTC)

Deleted page "Global Minorities Alliance"

Hi Roger, I noticed you deleted the article Global Minorities Alliance since you marked it as G11: Unambiguous advertising or promotion. I would very much appreciate if you could advise why exactly you came to this decision. The organisation does exist and I am writing about it because I have been observing them and their for quite some monthhs now and I thought they are worth an entry in Wikipedia since I noticed they do not have one yet. Was it a mistake to put only the facts and figures I could find sources for? I also did not put the fact that I personally think that this organisation is unique because I do not know another organisation with the ambition to bring various minorities from different backgrounds together. Their posts on facebook and twitter show a very broad scheme from Nubians in Kenya, surpressed Bahais and Christians in Muslim countries as well as Muslim minorities in various countries and many more. But if I write all that without many sources yet, would that be valid? Or was the mistake that I picked up on them releasing a song soon? I must admit that might really look like promotion - I probably should have waited for the announcement to become truth. I'd like to emphasize, that I am a "fan" of Global Minorities Alliance but not directly affiliated to them. Since I am new on Wikipedia I would really appreciate your advice. Thank you! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ida Judith (talkcontribs) 23:26, 8 September 2013 (UTC)

  • Call me cynical if you like but when I see a user with no previous edit history create an article such as this, I automatically assume a COI somewhat closer than just being a "fan" of the organisation. GlobalMinoritiesAlliance (talk · contribs) also claimed to be just a "friend of GMA" despite using GMA's name as their user name. See what they think at deletion review. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 00:03, 9 September 2013 (UTC)

Centel Media page deletion

Dear Mr. Haworth, I am new to Wikipedia page creation, so I wanted to test the waters by creating the Centel Media page. I understand that it was deleted because of "unambiguous promotion". This was never my intent, so I'd like to know what on the page came across as promotion. Also, I'd truly appreciate it if you'd give me a chance to fix the page so that it meets Wikipedia's standards. You can contact me at [email@redacted]. Sincerely, Wentworth Gray — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.192.80.35 (talk) 17:22, 9 September 2013 (UTC)

  • I have a policy of refusing to talk to IP addresses but in this case I accept that I can be reasonably confident that you are WentworthGray (talk · contribs). Why should I need an email address? The proper place to discuss Wikipedia matters is a Wikipedia discussion page. I cannot stop you fixing the page but I would prefer you to kindly have the decency to wait until someone with no COI thinks your company is notable and writes about it here. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 20:42, 9 September 2013 (UTC)

... would you mind taking a look at Italy? I'm wondering if some level of page protection might help prevent the outbreak of full-scale war there. Thanks, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 22:36, 9 September 2013 (UTC)

  • The page is currently semi-protected. Upgrading to full protection is inappropriate. If I get reliable representations that one or other of the warring parties is "sinful" then I would consider blocking that user. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 22:46, 9 September 2013 (UTC)

Greetings, I'd like to know why you deleted this file: File:P-Square Beautiful Onyinye Official Cover.jpg? I believe the file meets the criteria of Wikipedia's image policy. I'd have to upload it again if you don't restore it. versace1608 (talk) 15:02, 14 September 2013 (UTC)

Per this question on my talk page, I think Versace1608 is requesting the image be undeleted to be used on the album's page as the single's cover. Christ Church Selly Park

You deleted a page that I had created about a local Church. Please may I ask why the page was deleted? I am keen to re-instate the page and wonder what it needs to bring it into line with existing pages on other churches, for example: St Stephen's Church, Selly Park and St Francis of Assisi's Church, Bournville. • Please learn to use wikilinks. In case you had not noticed, St Stephen's is Grade II listed and St Francis is by a notable architect. Individual church congregations are very rarely considered notable. Thanks

Thanks you for fixing all my goofs on the move. I really appreciate it. :) Jhenderson 777 23:54, 16 September 2013 (UTC)

Yeah I have seen the latest AFD. We have three good sources NOW and some good valuable information and hopefully me and the editor that truly wants it as a article can find more sources. I can understand the caution. Jhenderson 777 00:04, 17 September 2013 (UTC)

I disagree with the protection though. There is more sources out there and I am willing to work on it on just the user space draft before I move it if any editor felt strong about it being moved yet. No reason to prevent bold edits even though there was past AFDs. It also seems offensive that you protected it just because of me. If three AFDs were really a issue of it becoming a article then it should have been protected way before then not because somebody did a bold edit. Jhenderson 777 00:46, 17 September 2013 (UTC)

  • Who are the "we" that you mention? I can assure you that protection was not directed against you personally. If I had seen Marvel Database Project in 2010, I would have protected it then. Indeed, I am surprised I did not protect it in 2005 when I deleted a previous state. If I allowed you to move your draft on to the mainspace title, there is a distinct risk that some trigger-happy deletionist would tag it on the grounds of three AfDs without looking at the content. So it is in your interest to launch it either a) via deletion review or b) via AfC. The latter route gives you a good chance of six month's exposure for the article even if it is rejected. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 12:26, 17 September 2013 (UTC)

The "we" refers to an editor who requests such an article but he can't due to he is the creator. He actually requested somebody else but that editor was busy. I willingly helped the editor. I added the sources that he showed and later on I found out that he actually has more sources to offer that he linked on his talk page. Jhenderson 777 14:53, 17 September 2013 (UTC)

  • Its probably not my place to say, since I haven't seen the article and am in no way involved, but I saw this message and it occured to me that if the article was copied, can't you just get the text from the place is was copied from? Benboy00 (talk) 16:32, 17 September 2013 (UTC)
  • Be a pal and tell me about which article you are talking. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 11:09, 18 September 2013 (UTC)

I wrote Digital Invoice and Customs Exchange (DICE) article. — Fiscal Justice (talk) 13:54, 18 September 2013 (UTC)

  • The copyvio problem could be easily solved but there is a much more intractable problem: it is by anyone's estimation a piece of original research. So Benboy is right: you have the text already on you university website and you have no need of a version of the text in wikimarkup. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 18:14, 18 September 2013 (UTC)

What are you saying? I suppose I wasted my time linking all the phrases in the text to other wiki articles for readers references. How is original research presented by wiki? An example would be helpful, thanks Fiscal Justice (talk) 07:14, 19 September 2013 (UTC)

  • Yes, I am sorry to say that you have wasted your time. Original research only appears in Wikipedia when the results of the research are accepted, duplicated and, above all, given practical application and become notable. For example, I note that VAT was first proposed in 1918 by Wilhelm von Siemens but his proposal probably did not make it to encyclopaedias because it was original research. If you insist on trying to force your paper into Wikipedia, your next actions would be: 1) make sure that each appearance of your paper on the web carries a clear declaration that the text is released under a CC-by-sa-3.0 licence and 2) raise the matter at deletion review. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 09:14, 19 September 2013 (UTC)

Deleted WATG Page

You deleted WATG Designing Destinations - Wimberly Allison Tong & Goo because you said it is too similar to the George J Wimberly page, this makes no sense, the George J. Wimberly page is about that particular architect and gives information about his life and contributions to architecture. He is one of four founding members of WATG which is an architecture firm, most of the projects and awards listed on the WATG page were acquired or created long after he retired. The page focuses on the company today and presents information not listed on George J Wimberly's page. Can you help resolve this? — Vboreing (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 20:33, 17 September 2013 (UTC)

Sorry I am new to this, I will make sure to read up on wikilinks, please be patient with newcomers. People are writing about WATG below are just a few articles, if you notice in the first link WATG is the #2 hotel architecture firm second to Gensler which has a Wikipedia page. HKS the 3rd on the list also has a Wikipedia page as well as the other firms in the top 5. WATG also also won awards for creating sustainable and innovative architecture. Although the subject matter may not interest you, I think it is great content for architects. Thank you for your time, vboreing — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vboreing (talkcontribs) 17:03, 19 September 2013 (UTC)

  • You also need to learn about piped external links but in this case I don't need them on this page. Whether I am interested or not has nothing to do with it, also the article must be of interest to the general reader not just to architects. If you really insist, submit a properly referenced article via deletion review but it might be a better idea to find a "sponsor". — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 18:32, 19 September 2013 (UTC)

Laser Tight Beams too boring for you?

Don't be deleting fresh content chief, your only hurting wiki — Preceding unsigned comment added by Smithrobltb (talkcontribs) 00:48, 18 September 2013 (UTC)

  • You call it hurting. I call it protecting the wiki from hopeless, badly written spam. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 12:11, 18 September 2013 (UTC)

Infeartainment

Hi, I just found that User:Narayangopalkrishnan/sandbox has been tagged as a copyvio from this page. When I examined the copyright material, I find that it is a citation of my own work i.e. they have quoted from my own article published in 2007. I am trying to set up a page about the term infeartainment that I, as a well respected academic, crafted in 2003 and have published in numerous journal articles since as a simple google search will show. The definition I have crafted is now fixed in its wording and I cannot rewrite it to suit copyright clashes. The reason I am setting up the page is that the word is being used in popular culture and social media now but there is no reference to its creator. What should I do in this context as I am not familiar with Wikipedia rules. Regards, Dr. Narayan Gopalkrishnan — Preceding unsigned comment added by Narayangopalkrishnan (talkcontribs) 09:13, 18 September 2013 (UTC)

  • OK, it was not a copyvio but it was still hopeless promotion of a neologism by its creator. But do not worry, when it actually does start being used in popular culture and social media someone with no COI will write about it here. They will probably credit you as its creator but if not and iff you can provide sound evidence, then you may add that info. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 12:11, 18 September 2013 (UTC)

Jdog Weathers

Can you A7 a user page? Doesn't that put all ours at risk too? 8-( Peridon (talk) 10:26, 18 September 2013 (UTC)

  • In my rule book established users are allowed to have user pages and put in them a limited amount about their other websites and their activities in the real world. But when a user has clearly no intention of contributing to Wikipedia, then they are not allowed a user page at all. Would you allow Anil dawadi (talk · contribs) to have a user page? Or what about Jason West Jones (talk · contribs)? If you are serious, I can find more examples of where my deletions under this policy have gone unchallenged or user pages have been deleted after AfD discussion. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 12:11, 18 September 2013 (UTC)
(stalking) In my rule book, however, you need to call CSDs absolutely correctly, because otherwise people get mightily upset and complain bitterly on places like .... well this very talk page. You can't use {{db-a7}} in userspace (the clue's in the 'A'). However, you can tag userspace pages that are entirely promotional as {{db-g11}}, as the 'G' speedies apply everywhere, which is what I've done to the user page in question. ;-) Nobody cares about your garage band explains that trying to hide the article about your non-notable band that only references Facebook and YouTube in userspace "while you wait for sources" (presumably indefinitely) does not mean it is not legitimately within policy to send them to MfD or tag them as G11 (or, if you're feeling particularly mean, G12 with a link to their Facebook page that they copy / pasted from....) Nintemulator

Why do you delated my Nintemulator article which was informative not promotional. -- Emperor-Overlord100 (talk) 11:00, 18 September 2013 (UTC)

  • The information content was negligible and there was not even an attempt to assert notability. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 12:20, 18 September 2013 (UTC)

History merge

Regarding User talk:Benlisquare/Baidu10Meme which you just deleted a few moments ago, was the history properly merged, per the histmerge request? As far as I know, I didn't apply a CSD template. --benlisquareTCE 18:22, 18 September 2013 (UTC) Oops, sorry, I have mistaken the talk page for the userspace page. My bad. This was intended to be deleted. I'm very sorry about the hassle! I'm getting a bit tired. --benlisquareTCE 18:31, 18 September 2013 (UTC)

DYK

Hi there. I noticed you deleted Template:Did you know nominations/2013 National Women's Soccer League season as G7, which I disagree is valid: I remember that other users made comments on this nomination, and that the article was not eligible for DYK - as such the template should be closed as "rejected", and not deleted as G7. Cheers, Mentoz86 (talk) 19:18, 18 September 2013 (UTC)

  • The deletion tag was applied by the creator. That looks like a valid G7 case to me. But I have restored it. Catch it quickly before it gets deleted again. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 19:22, 18 September 2013 (UTC)

Phil Fischer

This is going to sound utterly pointless. However, there are about three different versions of the article at Phil fischer; I believe it would be helpful to restore the deleted revisions of the page to Phil Fischer to help matters as far as the AfD is concerned.--Launchballer 22:23, 18 September 2013 (UTC)

  • All restored under Phil Fischer. I am very dubious about whether it is helpful but enjoy crap such as this state. I am not voting at the AfD because registering 12,000 domain names is some sort of notability. At least he did not register posp.org.uk and force me to buy it off him at some ridiculous price. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 22:41, 18 September 2013 (UTC)

Bellepark

Hi, you deleted my page for vandalism. I would like an understanding as to how we can follow your protocols to get it back up. I put the post up as a favor to a friend. I am not an expert in wiki but have access to those who can document the authenticity of the term and at this point simply wish to understand better what needs to be done. My name is Max Bellepark (talk) 14:24, 19 September 2013 (UTC)

(stalking) I'm charitable. It was Affinity Social Network Community and it was deleted via this AfD. I would say the odds of it being restored within policy are about zero. Bellepark, please read WP:NEO followed by WP:NPA and then find another article to edit. And for saying " I am a lawyer as well as everything else i stated. Delete this at your peril it is going right back up.", read WP:NLT and be thankful you can edit. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 17:00, 19 September 2013 (UTC)

The redirect already exists. A page with this title has previously been deleted. Its me who requested for the creation of this redirect again. The actual redirect page has already been created. This is not the actual redirect page. So please delete it.Editoredi (talk) 18:17, 19 September 2013 (UTC)

Mohammad Hanif Ibrahim

Dear I have created page with name Mohammad Hanif Ibrahim. As i created some wiki editor put speedy deletion note there. I had also put a note on that talk page to give me time to enter citation and page link. but you deleted that page and i found the deletion log entry. Subject person has wrote many books, booklets and column. I will put proper citation, references and link pages. Please let me create that page again. — Preceding unsigned comment added by امین اکبر (talkcontribs) 18:21, 19 September 2013 (UTC)
