Proposed deletion of Hampton University Proton Therapy Institute edit

The article Hampton University Proton Therapy Institute has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Reads as an advertisement with no sources whatsoever, unclear that it satisfies notability as one of many proton therapy centres (though possibly one of the largest). Majority of the content came from a user named after the subject

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. If you would like to sign up for the picnic, you can do so here. When signing up, say what you’re going to bring!

July will also feature the second annual Great American Wiknic in Frederick, Maryland. This year’s Frederick picnic will take place on Sunday, July 6 at Baker Park. Sign up here for the Frederick picnic.

Wikimedia DC invites revolutionaries, free thinkers, and other sundry editors to a DC WikiSalon edit

The WikiSalon is a special meetup usually held during the first and third full weeks of every month, from 7 PM to 9 PM. It's an informal gathering of Wikimedia enthusiasts, who come together to discuss Wikimedia wikis and collaboratively edit. There's no set agenda, and guests are welcome to recommend articles for the group to edit or edit on their own.

If you're coming by Metro, the closest station is Dupont Circle (on the Red Line). If you're driving, a lot of parking opens up downtown after 6:30 PM, so finding a parking space (even a free one) should be easy. Once you've found the building, go to Cove on the second floor. We will be in the conference room.

When: Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM

Where: The Cove, Dupont Circle, 1730 Connecticut Avenue NW, 2nd floor, 20009, DC

Benedict Cumberbatch edit

Esprit15d, in regards to your edit on Benedict Cumberbatch's article, rewording the lead wasn't necessary as the article is a good article. Most of the sources you added were either improperly put or weren't reliable (ex. NY Post). We also don't use phrases like "rose to international stardom", it's just to peacock-y and not neutrally worded. The whole paragraph starting with "Born to actor parents Timothy Carlton and Wanda Ventham", isn't necessary either because that's right underneath in the "Early life" section and not typically in a lead. "He currently resides in Hampstead, North London" is also unsourced and not worded properly per WP:REALTIME. Since it is a good article, references need to be properly referenced using the cite templates. LADY LOTUSTALK 17:08, 7 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Unnecessary addition of external image edit

Hello! Favor? Theres's an unnecessary addition of an external image in Sophie Hunter's page. She's not a model whose appearance is pivotal to her profile nor is the external image notable in her body work. Other pages don't have photos in their infoboxes either and they still exist and work as a page even without an external image. The image the user keeps on inserting is also not solely of Hunter's appearance as she is with somebody else in the photo. This is not at all a very good representation or even rational to have an external image in the page. I hope you can remove it, as it's totally unnecessary.

I think this one is better, www.tatler.com/bystander/events/2014/may/osman-the-collective-no3-launch#!/14117/image/6 It is more recent and there's more context not just the date, place, and event as well. If we're to keep it.180.191.64.56 (talk)

Joan Robinson Hill edit

Thanks again for your help with the Joan Robinson Hill articles. I've been keeping an eye on them, but I'm not quite sure of the best way to take them forward following the split. Also got a bit sidetracked by a surprise Scottish Labour Party leadership election. Now the peer review has closed, I think probably the next thing to do is to put them both through WP:GOCE and see what happens. As I said in the review I think there's a GA in there somewhere (possibly two now), so I hope to get them ready in the next couple of months or so. I'll keep you up to date with how it goes. Cheers, This is Paul (talk) 12:39, 18 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

I am still willing to help. I'm a little concerned that some of the info about her husband has crept back into the article. But I am willing to work with you to get the articles to a better level, or even GA status. One important thing editors most remember is that being murdered does not make you notable. SADLY, thousands of people are murdered every day. If your murder is notable, then there should be an article about your murder, in this case, because it led to legislation. But Joan has an article in Wikipedia ONLY because she was a famous equestrian, and that should be what the BULK of her article is about. Currently, her career is only mentioned briefly. The unfortunate circumstances surrounding bet alleged murder should be a section that points to the larger article about that. For reference, the child whose abduction and murder led to the Amber Alert legislation doesn't have an article at all since, being a small child, she didn't accomplish much in life. But she is mentioned in the article of Amber Alert. I began to do some research and there is quite a bit of info on her career out there. I will begin to work on it.--13:57, 18 November 2014 (UTC)
That sounds great. I agree we need more details about what made her notable, so anything you can add would be much appreciated. The book I have doesn't go into great depth about her career in the way Wikipedia tends to with sportspeople, instead concentrating more on her personal life; the influence her father had over her, her marriage to John Hill, and the events surrounding and following her death. I've also wondered if Ash Robinson should have an article of his own, but am not sure if he'd pass the guidelines. Although he accrued several fortunes and became a prominent figure in Houston, it appears to be his quest for justice following Joan's death that makes him notable in a wider sense. This is Paul (talk) 19:22, 18 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
Not sure about Ash either, since I am not really knowledgeable enough on the topic. Otherwise, I look forward to working with you.--Esprit15d • talkcontribs 22:14, 18 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Kingdom Hall (disambiguation) edit

A tag has been placed on Kingdom Hall (disambiguation) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G6 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an orphaned disambiguation page which either

  • disambiguates no (zero) extant Wikipedia pages, regardless of its title.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time. Please see the disambiguation page guidelines for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. File:John Mayer at the Barclays Center.jpeg edit

FYI, I moved File:John Mayer at the Barclays Center.jpeg to Commons. It is preferable to put flickr images on Commons because they have a review process in place. If the Commons image author changes their license at some point in the future, and the image was only uploaded locally on :en, we can't prove the license was ever valid, as opposed to merely misread by the uploader. But by putting it on Commons, we have a process in place where a Commons administrator or "license reviewer" will confirm that the claimed license is correct. --B (talk) 22:51, 19 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

File copyright problem with File:John Mayer cameo in Pyramid.jpg edit

Thank you for uploading File:John Mayer cameo in Pyramid.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright and licensing status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can verify that it has an acceptable license status and a verifiable source. Please add this information by editing the image description page. You may refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Puffin Let's talk! 22:43, 20 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Jan Vermeer van Delft 014.jpg edit

A tag has been placed on File:Jan Vermeer van Delft 014.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image page for a missing or corrupt image or an empty image description page for a Commons-hosted image.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Non-free rationale for File:TJGS shot.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:TJGS shot.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Replaceable fair use File:Jeannie Gaffigan in promo material.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Jeannie Gaffigan in promo material.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Majora (talk) 01:26, 30 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

Thanks. Given that the article is about the person, I prefer linking to the profile within the official website, rather than just the official website. Given that the official website isn't specifically for him, I think it even more helpful to directly link the profile.
As far as the business site goes, I'd say leave it out per ELNO#19. Same for the website for the show.
I'm not finding the YouTube site linked from within the official site, but I'm still not sure why it belongs given it's not specifically about him, and WP:ELPEREN. --Ronz (talk) 01:48, 9 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
The YouTube site is linked from their official website, along with all their other social media as well. --Ronz (talk) 17:34, 9 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
talk, in response to the the edit summary, I'm not interested at all in linking to his social media (I'm pretty sure I never even linked to his social media, unless you consider YouTube social media, which I simply left there because it features the content his entertainment company produces, but fine). The links I included were to the businesses he owns and founded, which I think are totally acceptable from (1) seeing similar links on 100s of pages in my 11 years at Wikipedia, and (2) the policy at What to link. I have no intentions of pursuing the matter though, because, I pick my battles.--Esprit15d • talkcontribs 02:38, 10 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
I'm sorry you see it as a battle. I'd find it a stretch to try to support an ELYES argument vs ELNO#19 for direct links to the businesses (and I do expect all the businesses are linked from the official site - they certainly are all promoted from it). What we need is a website that gives a personal perspective on Scott the person, something that meets the goals of ELOFFICIAL and ELYES#3. The problem is that he has such an extremely polished public image that's entwined with those of his brothers. It's all public relations and self-promotion for them, making it difficult to find information of encyclopedic value. Besides, there's Property Brothers and Scott Brothers Entertainment, so I don't think we're skimping on covering their businesses. --Ronz (talk) 16:17, 10 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
Ronz, I don't feel that strongly about it. I created SBE the other day because it was being shoe-horned into other articles with info that didn't belong there. Plus it seems to be grossing enough to pass notability. Property Brothers is not a business of theirs. I feel like Scott Real Estate is being gradually abandoned since they stopped buying and selling properties apart from their shows about two years ago (its online presence is skeletal, even though a couple years ago they had a ton of employees and locations--although I'm sure some of them were affiliates). I am not sure how to handle their lifestyle brand (Scott Living), but I hesitate to create an article. I'll just keep chipping away at the POV issues (especially in Drew's article), the formerly deplorable references section, and also edit the articles to better reflect where their careers diverge.--Esprit15d • talkcontribs 18:40, 10 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
I stumbled upon it because of the sourcing as well. I don't have much patience when it comes to digging through all that pr to find what's worth including in an encyclopedia article. Thank you for your work on the articles. --Ronz (talk) 19:37, 10 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
Ronz, I love tedious work. Wikipedia is one of the rare places I can scratch that particular itch. Hope to see you pass through again.--Esprit15d • talkcontribs 20:59, 10 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Justin Chang edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Justin Chang requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from http://www.latimes.com/la-bio-justin-chang-staff.html. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

Orphaned non-free image File:VCOM multi campus logo small.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:VCOM multi campus logo small.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 21:21, 25 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

Replaceable fair use File:Movmnt February 2008.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Movmnt February 2008.jpg.

Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 05:39, 4 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

Just a thought, I notice you are working on the season summary table. Normally that is just a transclusion from the list of episodes page. Probably make sense rather than having two identical tables that need updating - GalatzTalk 04:05, 22 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Gottfred Matthison-Hansen moved to draftspace edit

An article you recently created, Gottfred Matthison-Hansen, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please follow the confirms on the Articles for Creation template atop the page. Disambiguation link notification for April 26 edit

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Asa Taccone, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Charles Bradley (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Jonathan Scott (TV personality) edit

Hello:

The copy edit that you requested from the Guild of Copy Editors of the article Jonathan Scott (TV personality) has been completed.

To avoid confusion I substituted "the twins" for "the brothers" to distinguish them from the brothers and JD.

In this section:

"Drew convinced Scott to join him as a flight attendant at WestJet, which at the time was a small, startup airline, allowing them more time to dedicate to flipping houses.[38]

Scott transferred to the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology and the Home Builders Institute of Alberta to study construction and design,[39][40] and became licensed as a contractor.[41] In those roles more or less, the twins renovated and sold properties for 15 years.[28][41] Along the way, they supported themselves with a string of jobs that included flight attendant, store manager, busboy, website designer, and mall cop.[14]"

You mention WestJet specifically. I'm wondering whether these paragraphs should be switched and the reference to flight attendant removed from the second? It seems like the WestJet job was last in their "string" of jobs?

Here

"That same year, he began work on a documentary series about the energy landscape in North America, emphasizing the viability of solar energy; the series will be completed later this year.[68][timeframe?]"

you mention "later this year" (I assume 2017). If so, you should try to find out if it was completed and cite it accordingly.

Good luck with the GA process.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Regards,

@Twofingered Typist:Thank you so much for your review and copyedit. I really appreciate it.--Esprit15d • talkcontribs 16:12, 14 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Twofingered Typist:I will try to revisit those references, but I do know the flight attendant was not the last of those jobs, since he got that job at about 20 years old, and I know he was still working there at 24, because that's when he met his first wife. Also, I believe he had some of these jobs at the same time. But, between 24 and 32 (when Property Brothers started), I'm not sure what he did (he was an underwear model at some point, and also I know the web designer job came after WestJet). I'm honestly not sure. I will review the references again.--Esprit15d • talkcontribs 16:23, 14 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
