G2 tag

Yes, G2 is for test pages. The point about sandboxes (in any namespace except article-space) is that they are primarily for testing things in. Indeed, G2 has explicit exemptions for both user space and certain sandboxes. @Imasham: this is better handled by a copyright clerk who will review the article and decide what is to be done. However the issue is not the references but the body content of the article which you've copied and pasted from the BPSA website which appears to be copyright material of the BPSA. Copyrighted material can't be used on Wikipedia (other than in some very specific circumstances). This is because anything on Wikipedia can be reused by others. Having content added to Wikipedia that belongs to someone else could cause problems for the Wikipedia Foundation. See WP:COPYOTHERS.

in short my reasons: There is no other way for many professionals (especially HR) in this field to find out a standard naming for this new Enterprise function.

but in eality the IAPP is the industry standard. It's not promotional: try to search yourself on Google for Privacy Certification (for professionals, not for a whole company): simply there are basically none, and even the other one I just listed above is not recognized (requested) like IAPP's (sse in the real-life job offer below).

Not sure which references I can put as this won't be found in books or univaerstity press publications. The only references you will find are real-life jobs offers (in USA and EU), here are few examples (and look that most of them do require IAPP certifications (CIPP/CIPM) just because it's the only one industry recognized (e.g. requested by BIG 4s and big ompanies like Microsof etc.). Probably it's because IAPP it's the only certification body for Privacy certification which at today is accredited by ANSI https://iapp.org/news/a/iapp-certifications-granted-ansi-accreditation-under-international-iso-standard/):

Thank your for your comments and advise. I´m currently at the board of both IOHA and OHTA and we have in the board this week discussed the need to increase the visibility of our organisations. One actions is to create a Wikipedia page. The text was ment as a place holder, for a more detailed article about our association. Therefore using material from our own web page was not considered being a violation of the copyright. However, I will both review and enlarge the article in the comming weeks.

To be accurate and transparent there will be similarities between the wiki page and our associations web page. I hope this will be within the guidelines.

Vetting or other curation of wikipedia knowledge

Thank you Curb for your guidance to us wikipedia newbies. I will start to work on the federated identity article for including much of the info in my original artcile, but it will substantially change the flow of that article (as well as prune dead artifacts currently in it). If those changes generates disagreements, how and where will that be expressed? Secondly, at some point is there a way to indicate that some set of "domain experts" have vetted the topic? I intend to get a number of the key federated identity developers to review the article when finished, and would like to add that element of trustworthiness to the article. @Kjklingenstein: these are good questions. Wikipedia editors are encouraged to be bold. You should dive in and make the improvements that you think should be made to the article. You should not be offended though if others subsequently revert or change your edits. They should provide a rationale for doing so in their edit summary. It is important to not get into an edit war where two or more people continually change each other's edits. Instead, if you don't like what someone's done to your edit you should discuss it on the article's talk page. See WP:BRD for how to reach consensus. If an edit you want to make is likely to be controversial or major then proposing the changes on the talk page should be your first step. There will be other editors with an interest in the subject that have the article on their watchlist and they'll see your changes and will contribute to the discussion if they want to. You should join in the discussion with an aim of achieving WP:consensus.

The 'trustworthiness' of a Wikipedia article is based on citations. Wikipedia isn't a repository for original thought, so any claims or statements made should be backed up by a reference to a book, journal, newspaper article or reliable web site where readers can check that what has been written on Wikipedia is likely to be factual. This is rather than writing things like "according to domain experts" or "experts agree that..." - such statements would be quickly challenged and probably deleted. See also Help:Referencing for beginners.

Not sure what to do

Hello! Recently my draft article Park Ji-min (BTS) was rejected due to the fact that another draft existed waiting to be reviewed. You recommended that I merge my draft with the other one: Draft:Park Jimin (artist). I proceeded to the other page to do just that, however I discovered that the other draft was rejected on 22 July of 2017 because another draft Park Jimin (musician) was waiting to be reviewed. (what a trail to follow lol) I went to that page to then merge my draft only to find that it doesn't actually exist. What would you recommend I do? CazzaaaAAAAAAAhhh (talk) 10:10, 6 May 2018 (UTC)

@CazzaaaAAAAAAAhhh: there have been several attempts to create a stand-alone article about Park Ji-min. However the consensus of other editors is that he's not notable other for being part of BTS. See the discussions at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Park Ji-min (born 1995) and Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Park Ji-min (BTS). So if you are going to press ahead and try to create a new stand-alone article then you'd need to be able to clearly show that he has become notable in his own right. It might be, for instance, that has also become a successful solo artist with his own albums in the charts, or he might have become a film actor or TV presenter. If there's nothing like that then I suggest you expand the BTS (band) article instead. For example, if you have more information about how Park came to join the band (and you can back itr up with references) then you could expand the history section. @Barry Ne: thanks for your message. I can see from your editing history that you've made a lot of constructive contributions to Wikipedia in the short time you've been here - thank you for those. Hopefully you've read and accept that Wikipedia doesn't have articles on every subject. There are criteria that we use to determine which subjects have articles about them, and which do not. You'll have seen, for instance, that your draft about Kenridge Primary School is unlikely to be accepted, because the consensus of the Wikipedia community is that primary schools are generally not considered notable. Looking at that particular draft, you've included a range of references. References are needed both to enable the reader to check that the information is factual, and to establish notability. As anyone can edit Wikipedia articles, it is possible that someone introduces information that is not correct, and the references are really important to show where the information was sourced from. Anything without a reference is liable to be challenged and possibly deleted. However taking them each in turn, the references you've included are useful for establishing verifiability but of no value in showing notability. The first two references are sourced from the school's own website, and that isn't an independent source. References 4 through to 9 are about people who attended the school, rather than about the school itself, so they fail to provide sufficient depth of coverage about the school.

When you draft a new article, before you start you should collect a list of the references you plan to use and then assess each one against the criteria, which are usefully explained in this essay. You should only proceed with investing time in the draft if it will satisfy those requirements. Otherwise your draft will be declined and never make it into the encyclopedia.

Back to you your message, having coverage in newspapers is good, but the coverage has to be written by editorial staff and not based on material that the school has provided. There has to be sufficient depth of coverage, so if the newspaper article is about how some students took part in a fund raising event, for example, that's not sufficient depth of coverage about the school. Being mentioned on a government website isn't helpful if every school is listed and if the listing provides insufficient depth of coverage e.g. only contact details. Having been in existence for a long time isn't one of the criteria we consider when reviewing an article. For example, the ground beneath my feet has been in existence for millions of years but there's no Wikipedia article about it.

Being in a movie doesn't make something notable. Otherwise we'd have an article on every actor who has ever been in a movie. There's specific guidelines for which actors we write about - see WP:NACTOR. So the school being featured in a film isn't enough. It might be if the film was about the school.

A published history book might be a good source, as long as there's sufficient information in the book about the subject. Ideally, try to find an online copy of the book so others can verify the information. But the book doesn't have too be online. It is useful to list the page numbers of the reference so that anyone who gets a copy of the book can find the information.

Unfortunately one reference isn't enough - you need multiple references in different sources.

Please have a thorough read of WP:NCORP to understand these requirements further. These things are really important to thoroughly understand so that you can be a really productive Wikipedian.

Arrion Springs Draft Rejection

Hey Curb Safe Charmer, Earlier you rejected a draft for an Arrion Springs article. Your reasoning was, and I quote, "...a professional league player is presumed notable if they've played in at least one regular or post season game, but from my understanding that's not the case for Springs. He's a rookie and hasn't played for the Chiefs yet." If that is the case, then how come other rookies (drafted and undrafted) have their own articles? If you want to check, there are other undrafted rookies like Eddy Wilson (American football) or even Spring's teammate Malik Reaves. @AntonLeGo: please read Wikipedia:Other stuff exists. In these two examples, I think they fail the WP:NSPORT criteria and I have tagged them as needing review. Regarding your draft 'needing more sections' I recommend against adding content to an article that doesn't meet the notability requirements as you may be wasting your time. @Curb Safe Charmer: I looked at the WP:NSPORT criteria for American football athletes and while Springs does not meet the first criterion, he technically does meet the second, since he earned a 2017 All-PAC-12 Honorable Mention. Also, at the beginning of the article, it reads, "Please note that the failure to meet these criteria does not mean an article must be deleted; conversely, the meeting of any of these criteria does not mean that an article must be kept. These are merely rules of thumb which some editors choose to keep in mind when deciding whether or not to keep an article that is on articles for deletion, along with relevant policies and guidelines..." Perhaps you need to loosen your criteria a little. Also, if you had your way, almost every rookie in the NFL this year would have their article deleted, as their pages resemble the examples that I shared with you. @AntonLeGo: the criteria have been established by consensus of many editors over a number a years. They are regularly refined as necessary. Reviewers apply the current criteria.

Wikipedia is a lagging indicator of notability. This means that there will only be an article on a subject some time after other multiple reliable, independent publications such as national newspapers have covered a subject in depth. If there's very little coverage on a subject in those publications then there won't be an article about it on Wikipedia. Often it is WP:TOOSOON for an article about something. For these football players, I recommend you wait until their career is more developed and there's plenty coverage elsewhere. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 20:25, 4 June 2018 (UTC)

It was my opinion that the submission was completely unbiased and was based on other published leasing companies in the field to ensure this unbias and make as useful as possible to Wikipedia readers. @EmilyJBray10: as I wrote in the comments when I declined the draft earlier this week, Wikipedia is an encyclopedia. It isn't a business directory. So you need to demonstrate why Arval is a subject that should be included in an encyclopedia. An article about BNP belongs in an encyclopedia as it is one of the world's largest banks. We don't decide whether to include an article about BNP based on its turnover, amount of deposits, or number of staff though. Instead, we look at the quality of the coverage of the company in reliable, independent publications. This includes national newspapers, books, academic journals, and websites that have content written by editorial teams. The BMP article has 58 references, but it is not so much about the number than it is about quality. The number does have some importance - we'd expect 3 or more references. But those references need to be from independent, reliable publications that have covered the company in depth. 'Independent' excludes any material that is mostly based on anything the company has written about itself - e.g. through a press release, or anything on the company's own website. 'In depth' excludes any material that is routine in nature such as a listing in a trade directory, or a regulatory filing, an announcement of financial results, appointment of a new chief executive, etc. If you have read WP:NCORP as recommended then you'll have seen there's more detailed definition there.

Since you've declared that you have a vested interest in promoting Arval, and since Wikipedia isn't intended for promotion of any kind, you'll inevitably find that the level of scrutiny of this article is more than experienced by other, non-involved editors. Ultimately, if reviewers conclude that an article about Arval doesn't belong in Wikipedia then it will be deleted. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 12:08, 8 June 2018 (UTC)

@EmilyJBray10: it doesn't quite work like that. Unbiased is not enough. The article has to be about a notable subject. Wikipedia isn't about everything. Nor does it need an article about every example of a thing. See WP:ALLORNOTHING. If Wikipedia was a directory then yes, it could have an article about every company within a sector for fairness, but it is absolutely not a directory. In this case, I nominated the LeasePlan UK article for deletion and it has since been deleted and instead is now a redirect to the multinational parent company. Notability and acceptance

Kindly read my response in a positive way as I am respectful towards any reviewer (always been and have great appreciation for the voluntary work they do)

What is the definition of notability? Should one target an author of an article? Should one look at the author or the article?

Unfortunately there are people who take Wikipedia as a source self-up liftment. Unfortunately there are articles that have been accepted with one or no source. That doesn’t make once own article acceptable.(One wrong does not make one right) These articles with no or little references should be targeted.

Newspaper articles or citations are difficult. Did the person or institution provide the information? Did the journalist write the article because it was really notable?

If a guy that, for example came third in a major sport event but got major coverage, is included but not the guy that won or even came second, because they got less coverage?

True there is also false news. That makes it even harder.

Then there are authors that are active and those that are less active. If you are active you should be evaluated on article and not on activity.

For editors or reviewers it’s also difficult to be experts on all subjects. This is where objectivity plays a role; much more has to be done on an unknown subject than on a known subject.

My whole story is just to get at the ground rules, which are at most difficult. One has to remember that this is an encyclopedia.

My belief is that:

• Lay down the ground rules for an subject.

• Evaluate the article based on the ground rules.

• Reject or accept the article on the ground rules.

An author which article does not comply should then accept the declination. I belief Wikipedia is a living encyclopedia and would love to be part of its growth. Ethical intent should be number one obviously based on facts and sources

@Barry Ne: the problem here is that you have created your own set of notability criteria. They bear no resemblance to the set of criteria established by community consensus. Your articles have references but those references do not meet the criteria because they do not provide substantial coverage about the school (not about the alumni or faculty) from reliable, independent sources (i.e. not published by the school itself, or the school board), published in secondary sources. Those are the ground rules, and you're not following them. I would like to see you accept them and follow them in future so that you can be a great contributor here. @Barry Ne: I agree that this looks like a subject that does not meet the notability guidelines. The article was created twelve years ago, when the notability criteria were less stringent. It is no doubt one of many such articles about non-notable secondary schools. It is not a justification for keeping new articles, but neither would it be welcomed to try to weed out all the non-notable old ones.

@The Gnome: these are new editors, participating in their first AfD discussion. They clearly thought that the talk page was the place to discuss the nomination, rather than the project page. I suppose that is not an unreasonable assumption for a newcomer. The intention of the AfD is for experienced editors to discuss the article, and equally for involved editors to respond and explain why they believe the article should be kept. Regardless of whether it is kept or deleted, it provides a learning experience for the author - they become aware of the notability criteria, and how to participate in discussions. Those editors had already written their comments on the talk page - I have not invited any editors who had not already expressed their opinion to do so, so this is not canvassing.

I do not believe that there are any policies or guidelines on this scenario - either that support what I did, or that say not to do it. In the absence of such a guideline, I believe my action was in keeping with the aims of the project. Sorry but the appropriate course was not to move comments from another page to the AfD page, but to inform the editors who commented on the Talk page that, if they wanted, they could participate in the AfD. And you could also provide a link. What you did is not permitted by any Wikipedia policy of which I'm aware, and it is highly irregular. Imagine the situations that could develop if such a practice was allowed in AfDs, importing comments from here and there, under any justification/pretext, and the controversies that would flare up. Please do the right thing and delete them, asap. (No need to revert anything. simply delete the comments. Then, alert the editors about the ongoing AfD.)

The relevant Wikipedia policy here is WP:TALKO: Editors are not allowed to mess with other people's contributions that have appeared in Talk pages. We are allowed to quote from other editors' text but posting up the text in some other forum as if the original editor posted it up there is creating an impostor post. June backlog drive

Overall the June backlog drive was a success, reducing the last 3,000 or so to below 500. However, as expected, 90% of the patrolling was done by less than 10% of reviewers.
Since the drive closed, the backlog has begun to rise sharply again and is back up to nearly 1,400 already. Please help reduce this total and keep it from raising further by reviewing some articles each day.

New technology, new rules

• New features are shortly going to be added to the Special:NewPagesFeed which include a list of drafts for review, OTRS flags for COPYVIO, and more granular filter preferences. More details can be found at this page.
• Probationary permissions: Now that PERM has been configured to allow expiry dates to all minor user rights, new NPR flag holders may sometimes be limited in the first instance to 6 months during which their work will be assessed for both quality and quantity of their reviews. This will allow admins to accord the right in borderline cases rather than make a flat out rejection.
• Current reviewers who have had the flag for longer than 6 months but have not used the permissions since they were granted will have the flag removed, but may still request to have it granted again in the future, subject to the same probationary period, if they wish to become an active reviewer.

Editathons

• Editathons will continue through August. Please be gentle with new pages that obviously come from good faith participants, especially articles from developing economies and ones about female subjects. Consider using the 'move to draft' tool rather than bluntly tagging articles that may have potential but which cannot yet reside in mainspace.

• The next issue of the monthly magazine will be out soon. The newspaper is an excellent way to stay up to date with news and new developments between our newsletters. @Markman 12-123: I am sorry that you feel frustrated. However the "Articles for Creation" process is designed to prevent unsuitable articles from being added to Wikipedia. The criteria for what is suitable and what is unsuitable have been agreed by community consensus. AfC volunteers, of which I am one, simply implement those standards. Some subjects have specific criteria agreed for them, and where there are no such criteria, the general notability criteria apply. In the case of this article, the community has agreed these criteria (or Wikipedia:Notability (media)#Newspapers, magazines and journals) for which newspapers and periodicals should have an encyclopedia article about them, and which should not. Please familiarise yourself with these. If you can improve the article to meet those criteria then great, your contribution will be most welcome. The New Page Feed currently has 2700 unreviewed articles, up from just 500 at the start of July. For a while we were falling behind by an average of about 40 articles per day, but we have stabilised more recently. Please review some articles from the back of the queue if you can (Sort by: 'Oldest' at Special:NewPagesFeed), as we are very close to having articles older than one month.

Project news

• The New Page Feed now has a new "Articles for Creation" option which will show drafts instead of articles in the feed, this shouldn't impact NPP activities and is part of the WMF's AfC Improvement Project.

As part of this project, the feed will have some larger updates to functionality next month. Specifically, ORES predictions will be built in, which will automatically flag articles for potential issues such as vandalism or spam. Copyright violation detection will also be added to the new page feed. See the projects's talk page for more info.

• There are a number of coordination tasks for New Page Patrol that could use some help from experienced reviewers. See Wikipedia:New pages patrol/Coordination#Coordinator tasks for more info to see if you can help out.

Other

• A new summary page of reliable sources has been created; Wikipedia:Identifying reliable sources/Perennial sources, which summarizes existing RfCs or RSN discussions about regularly used sources.

Moving to Draft and Page Mover

• Some unsuitable new articles can be best reviewed by moving them to the draft space, but reviewers need to do this carefully and sparingly. It is most useful for topics that look like they might have promise, but where the article as written would be unlikely to survive AfD. If the article can be easily fixed, or if the only issue is a lack of sourcing that is easily accessible, tagging or adding sources yourself is preferable. If sources do not appear to be available and the topic does not appear to be notable, tagging for deletion is preferable (PROD/AfD/CSD as appropriate). See additional guidance at WP:DRAFTIFY.
• If the user moves the draft back to mainspace, or recreates it in mainspace, please do not re-draftify the article (although swapping it to maintain the page history may be advisable in the case of copy-paste moves). AfC is optional except for editors with a clear conflict of interest.
• Articles that have been created in contravention of our paid-editing-requirements or written from a blatant NPOV perspective, or by authors with a clear COI might also be draftified at discretion.
• The best tool for draftification is User:Evad37/MoveToDraft.js^(info). Kindly adapt the text in the dialogue-pop-up as necessary (the default can also be changed like this). Note that if you do not have the Page Mover userright, the redirect from main will be automatically tagged as CSD R2, but in some cases it might be better to make this a redirect to a different page instead.
• The Page Mover userright can be useful for New Page Reviewers; occasionally page swapping is needed during NPR activities, and it helps avoid excessive R2 nominations which must be processed by admins. Note that the Page Mover userright has higher requirements than the NPR userright, and is generally given to users active at Requested Moves. Only reviewers who are very experienced and are also very active reviewers are likely to be granted it solely for NPP activities.

List of other useful scripts for New Page Reviewing

Twinkle provides a lot of the same functionality as the page curation tools, and some reviewers prefer to use the Twinkle tools for some/all tasks. It can be activated simply in the gadgets section of 'preferences'. There are also a lot of options available at the Twinkle preferences panel after you install the gadget. In terms of other gadgets for NPR, HotCat is worth turning on. It allows you to easily add, remove, and change categories on a page, with name suggestions. MoreMenu also adds a bunch of very useful links for diagnosing and fixing page issues. User:Equazcion/ScriptInstaller.js(info): Installing scripts doesn't have to be complicated. Go to your common.js and copy importScript( 'User:Equazcion/ScriptInstaller.js' ); into an empty line, now you can install all other scripts with the click of a button from the script page! (Note you need to be at the ".js" page for the script for the install button to appear, not the information page) User:TheJosh/Scripts/NewPagePatrol.js(info): Creates a scrolling new pages list at the left side of the page. You can change the number of pages shown by adding the following to the next line on your common.js page (immediately after the line importing this script): npp_num_pages=20; (Recommended 20, but you can use any number from 1 to 50). User:Primefac/revdel.js(info): Is requesting revdel complicated and time consuming? This script helps simplify the process. Just have the Copyvio source URL and go to the history page and collect your diff IDs and you can drop them into the script Popups and it will create a revdel request for you. User:Lourdes/PageCuration.js(info): Creates a "Page Curation" link to Special:NewPagesFeed up near your sandbox link. User:Writ Keeper/Scripts/deletionFinder.js: Creates links next to the title of each page which show up if it has been previously deleted or nominated for deletion. User:Evad37/rater.js(info): A fantastic tool for adding WikiProject templates to article talk pages. If you add: rater_autostartNamespaces = 0; to the next line on your common.js, the prompt will pop up automatically if a page has no Wikiproject templates on the talk page (note: this can be a bit annoying if you review redirects or dab pages commonly).

I apologize for the delayed response. Thank you for the valuable feedback about my first major entry. I would like to contribute to more topics in the future so I value the information you provided.

In your feedback, you mentioned that the references used for my submission did not show significant coverage (reliable secondary sources). I did try to mainly include third party press releases , as well as link the relevant terminology to other Wikipedia articles. Any suggestions or tips about this would be greatly appreciated.

This will allow me to correctly remove/ replace those sources, reword the material, or find stronger sources. ( whichever you think that I need ) I am in fact not being compensated by this company to create this article. The reason this topic interested me is because I often find myself reading Wikipedia entries about a business before I use them. I have not used this business and I am not a customer either. I thought this would be a fun and easy way to build a catalog of useful content for the site. I really tried to create an objective and history based piece of content, so I’m not entirely sure which part of the content exactly hints to that, but most likely that portion should be changed as well whatever it may be. I don’t believe I included any direct links to the site, I was pretty sure that was not required, and not allowed.

@GarretBever: thanks for your message. On the subject of notability, please thoroughly read WP:NCORP to understand the Wikipedia community's guideline on which companies should have an article about them in Wikipedia, and which should not. As you'll see, there are several criteria that we use to assess the extent to which other publications have already written about a company. At the moment, the sources are either press releases - which fail the 'independent source' test, or in the case of the cbsnews.com piece are clearly written by the CEO, so that's not independent either.

Regarding your reason for creating the article, a Google search for your name suggests that you are an employee. If this is the case then you have a clear conflict of interest and must declare it. There are specific processes to be followed by people with a conflict of interest to ensure that Wikipedia articles remain accurate, impartial and objective. You may not be the only person in the world with your name, and you could claim to be a completely different person, but the chances of someone with your name coincidentally being identical to an employee of the first company you've chosen to write about seem unlikely to me. Curb Safe Charmer Ref: the Jordan-Pooley-Farrar affair I was trying to take a nap, and the thought rolled over in my head. The title is non descrip... meaningless, unless you knew about it. For the sake of clarity I think it should be named something like the Cecily Jordan-Greville Pooley Dispute. It is more than account of a breach of promise suit. It is a first stone cast in the pond for women's suffrage and equal rights. For the first time in history the woman was the defendant in a breach or promise case. (Equality is not a one sided issue). But the whole affairs shines a light on the societal and legal attitude towards women. Where women are simply the property of men, and have limited rights. When you moved it did you also delete the Heading Aftermath. I believe that it also important and should be expanded, as regards the societal impact. Of course WP does not permit going off on a lecture or off the rails and that can be taken into account. Finally the template is no longer appropriate and should be removed. Such a template does not belong in mainspace, and the issues raised have been addressed and corrected. What do you think?Oldperson (talk) 22:12, 19 January 2019 (UTC)

By analogy A notable dispute between Jones v Smith when Jones inadvertently threw a baseball through Smiths window. Would the incident be referred to as Jones Smith baseball affair? I think not. The Return of Cicely Jordan Farrar

Hi Curb Safe Charmer, I guess this is related to the preceding. (Are we all getting tired of Cecily yet?) As you know, I've been trying to salvage the Cecily Jordan Farrar article from the redirect. I consulted with[[u|the road is long}}, as he mentioned the draft idea and asked him to look over the draft, which he did. But I didn't originally think you would care, as you seemed focus more on the Jordan/Pooley article. But, I could've brought you in as well, since you put the redirect out there in the first place.

First, I'm glad you took a look at the article, and thanks for your edits. It felt like you were okay with the latest, even though it's a radical revision. Also, I saw you even put a link to the Cecily Jordan Farrar article in the Jordan/Pooley. That felt like a compliment. Thank you again!

Here's where I'd like to consult with you again. Right now, I am trying to work with the admin to remove the redirect. Are you okay with that? Also, I'm asking the admin who take care of speedy deletions for help to get the redirect removed, but this is a strange case. The links built to the old article mainly point to a biography. Any links to the new one will be pointing toward a legal case, I think. Any advice for how to get this all sorted so the two articles can go their separate ways? @Dthomsen8: When starting a discussion on the OR noticeboard there's no obligation to notify an involved editor unless they are named in the discussion. I took the additional step of notifying the main contributors to the page. There was no point notifying someone whose contribution was minor e.g. fixing formatting or adding to categories. Nor was there any point notifying editors who are no longer active. Regardless, the issue is now resolved as someone has found a range of reliable sources, which I have added to the article. @Josgor: hello and welcome to Wikipedia. I reverted your changes to the article for the following reasons:

• Unexplained removal of content - if you remove content from a Wikipedia article you need to explain the reason in the edit summary. See WP:REMOVAL.
• Addition of external links in the body contrary to WP:EXT - links to other websites should not normally be placed in the body of the article. WP:EXT provides an explanation of what external links are appropriate and where they should go in the article.
• Introduction of poor grammar - while I am sure you did so accidentally, you changed 'about the Martian environment' to 'about Martian environment' and you wrote 'atmospheres like those Mars, Venus, and Titan' missing the word 'of' after 'those'.

While you're getting started as a novice Wikipedia editor I would recommend publishing individual small changes to articles rather than several changes in a single edit. You should provide an edit summary for each change - see Help:Edit summary for how and why to do this.

The Courier Mail article has exactly the necessary coverage that you need. It's behind a paywall because lots of newspapers (ie. the credible sources that Wikipedia wants to rely on) have paywalls. Surely there is some way around this? I have an image of the print newspaper; would that help? I can direct you to the journalist's Twitter feed?

Lots of the biggest newspapers on earth have paywalls, but are the height of information creditability. There must be a workaround here.

Submission of The Great Adventure by The Neal Morse Band

I do not understand why the page The Great Adventure was rejected. All other albums by Neal Morse and The Neal Morse Band have their own page. Being a part of the WikiProject Progressive Rock group means that we should be promoting all Progressive Rock Artists and their albums. @Callmesiddie: Wikipedia doesn't have articles about every subject. It has criteria to decide which subjects should have an article about them and which should not. There are two sets of criteria that apply to this biography - either WP:FILMMAKER or WP:GNG. Please read both sets of criteria. Your draft has been rejected because the subject meets neither criteria. Please do not resubmit until there is substantial coverage about her (not about the film). Hi Curb. Let me say that I should not have been trying to do serious Wikipedia work given what I had going on in real life at the time - my question about primary sources is a real facepalm moment and I have self-trouted - I know better (as I reminded myself in a GA review I am getting back to where I raised my own primary/secondary concerns). I will also say that while UK/US secondary schools be defacto notable doesn't bother me but I certainly have respect for those for whom it is bothersome - I have my own areas where I am troubled because I know the letter of the PAG back me up on something not being notable but for which it would never go that way at AfD. I also am not a fan of NAC at AfD have left a message for the closure suggesting he not close such discussions. I apologize if you feel I stepped on your toes by accepting an article you had declined - I tend to think that AfC promotes conservative acceptance rates when any prolific AfC reviewer (which I most definitely am not) should have some small percentage of accepts there that end up as deleted articles given the standard of "likely to survive at AfD" not being "will survive at AfD". When I independently come across an article Florida Army has done at AfC, I give a quick look at his talk page to see if there recent declines on there - he's an unusual editor in that he's quite experienced but also required to go through AfC (a restriction I support). Anyhow just wanted to follow up since I was busy as the AfD played out. I hope we have the chance to collaborate together, rather than be at odds, at some point in the future. @Davidwriter8: Being the owner of this or the president of that are not reasons for inclusion of an article about him in Wikipedia. Nor is being the child of a notable parent. You will need to add references that show that Scott has been written about in depth by multiple independent, reliable publications. The references need to be about Scott, not about his companies. Anything published that is largely based on a company news release doesn't count, nor interviews where Scott talks about himself. See WP:BASIC and WP:ANYBIO for further information.

The other problems with your draft is that almost all the content is unsourced. You will need to add inline citations that clearly show where the information was sourced from. It isn't sufficient to base the article on your personal knowledge of the person, as readers can't check that what you've written based on your own knowledge is true. Do take a moment to check out all the new features if you have not already done so. If anything is not working as it should, please let us know at NPR. There is now also a live queue of AfC submissions in the New Pages Feed. Feel free to review AfCs, but bear in mind that NPP is an official process and policy and is more important.

QUALITY of REVIEWING

Articles are still not always being checked thoroughly enough. If you are not sure what to do, leave the article for a more experienced reviewer. Please be on the alert for any incongruities in patrolling and help your colleagues where possible; report patrollers and autopatrolled article creators who are ostensibly undeclared paid editors. The displayed ORES alerts offer a greater 'at-a-glance' overview, but the new challenges in detecting unwanted new content and sub-standard reviewing do not necessarily make patrolling any easier, nevertheless the work may have a renewed interest factor of a different kind. A vibrant community of reviewers is always ready to help at NPR.

Backlog

The backlog is still far too high at between 7,000 and 8,000. Of around 700 user rights holders, 80% of the reviewing is being done by just TWO users. In the light of more and more subtle advertising and undeclared paid editing, New Page Reviewing is becoming more critical than ever.

Move to draft

NPR is triage, it is not a clean up clinic. This move feature is not limited to bios so you may have to slightly re-edit the text in the template before you save the move. Anything that is not fit for mainspace but which might have some promise can be draftified - particularly very poor English and machine and other low quality translations.

Notifying users

Remember to use the message feature if you are just tagging an article for maintenance rather than deletion. Otherwise articles are likely to remain perma-tagged. Many creators are SPA and have no intention of returning to Wikipedia. Use the feature too for leaving a friendly note note for the author of a first article you found well made or interesting. Many have told us they find such comments particularly welcoming and encouraging.

PERM

Admins are now taking advantage of the new time-limited user rights feature. If you have recently been accorded NPR, do check your user rights to see if this affects you. Depending on your user account preferences, you may receive automated notifications of your rights changes. Requests for permissions are not mini-RfAs. Helpful comments are welcome if absolutely necessary, but the bot does a lot of the work and the final decision is reserved for admins who do thorough research anyway.

deletion of Draft:Matthias Grob

Hi! I am worried that this page is going to be deleted soon! its true that most of it is autobiography, please help me out!

it costed me a lot of work and I really tried to gather the correct links to articles that prove what I tell. I am an inventor, engineer and musician, not a writer or researching scientist. I am not good at proving, promoting and selling. I am still very busy to survive, mainly because I spent my best years to create and explain LiveLooping and did not get my share of the huge success it became.

now my points are:

1. I am mentioned at wikipedia and its sad that the link is red, it would be an improvement to show who I am
2. I did not start this page but felt the need to correct and complete it. I obviously know more about my life than those who publish what they heard from me or from a friend who therefore would not be considered impartial. most people mentioned in wikipedia are not famous enough to become scientifically researched, yet some information about their lives makes wikipedia richer.
3. Livelooping changed the way music is created and practiced (just try to list musical inventions that had a stronger impact in the the past 30 years!) and before my LOOP delay, there was not even a tool with the simplest immediate Record function (tap-play-tap-repeat) and I went far beyond that with many other features that became standards or maintain the used price of the 25year old units high.
4. I do not consider myself a very good musician, but I managed to move a public and since I had prototypes of Livelooping machines working for me about 7 years before anyone else had, I also developed a special music ahead of time - the music that motivated me to take the risk to create the machine! If it's just about following the rules, yes, our Lizard DLP was reissued 20 years later as doubble CD on BlackRills.
5. my contribution to the unique and very respected guitars of Rolf Spuler at Paradis-guitars: first we created a new kind of pickup and electronics - the sound which then inspired him to create the form. we also created a bass for Ibanez which was reissued this year. I would love to create a page about Rolf, but I am afraid of being trashed again...

Hello Curb Safe Charmer. Thank you for featuring the Charles Reid (painter) page. I see there is a problem of copyright with my own website yet. As you Know I am the administrator and the owner of http://www.andremehu-aquarelles.com . I'm French artist Andre Mehu, and I'm not a female, Lize is my pseudo and isn't a female's name, and I feature my paintings on my website. First Graeme Bartlett ask me to create a CC License. I did it (CC-BY-SA 3.0) and he moved my article to the draft namespace. Then Anthony Appleyard declined the submission for review because unambiguous copyright infringment , this is why I decided to delete the article-87.php from my website to prove I'm the owner of it. Then Graeme restored the draft and move it on the article space. But now I dont know what to do, there is a pink box above the article. The article-87.php didn't sound encyclopedic this why I had to rewrite it and only kept some elements of it. If you want I can re-upload article-87.php , it is copyleft because I applied the Licence CC-BY-SA 3.0 . I know control is necessary Please could you tell me what to do?

@Lize56: While I am not an expert on Wikipedia copyright issues, I think you should restore the page on your site so that the CC-BY-SA 3.0 licence declaration is clearly displayed. This will mean that anyone in the future who questions where the content of the Wikpedia article came from will see that you've licenced it in that way. @Lize56: Sarah Reid has to follow a procedure to properly confirm that she is the copyright holder of the artwork that she took a photo of and as such can 'donate' it for use on Wikipedia. @Lize56: Now that the article is in 'mainspace' where anyone can see it, more people are helping improve the article so that it complies with various Wikipedia guidelines and follows the manual of style.

'Failed verification' means that an editor has visited the website that you cited and could not find anything there to support the statement that the citation was intended to support. This means that readers can't rely on the statement being true. You can fix this by changing the link to a source that does prove what is written. See Template:Failed verification. In fact there are two Shanghai International Biennial. One of them is related to contemporary art and is nammed "Shanghai Biennale", like in French, its link is http://www.shanghaibiennale.org/en/ . The second is nammed differently "Shanghai Zhujiajiao International Watercolor Biennial" and is dedicated to watercolor. @Vchimpanzee: Other than Draft:D.K. Aswal I don't see that there are any other copies of the draft? If it is an earlier version I am not sure why you'd want to keep it and work on it. The other draft is User:Abhinpl/sandbox. That is something you should ask Abhinpl about.
