Image tagging for Image:Paul Kanjorski.jpg
editThanks for uploading Image:Paul Kanjorski.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:

License tagging for Image:Jigme Singye Wangchuck.jpg
editThanks for uploading Image:Jigme Singye Wangchuck.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 22:05, 12 September 2006 (UTC)
Image:Jigme Singye Wangchuck.jpg
editThanks for uploading Image:Jigme Singye Wangchuck.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
- On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Oden 09:59, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

AfD nomination of Breton Americans
editAn editor has nominated Breton Americans, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not"). Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Breton Americans and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. Catherine Troeh
editHi Scanlan. You are off to such a great start on the article Catherine Troeh that it may qualify to appear on Wikipedia's Main Page under the Did you know... section. The Main Page gets about 4,000,000 hits per day and appearing on the Main Page may help bring publicity and assistance to the article. However, there is a five day from article creation window for Did you know... nominations. Before five days pass from the date the article was created and if you haven't already done so, please consider nominating the article to appear on the Main Page by posting a nomination at Did you know suggestions. If you do nominate the article for DYK, please cross out the article name on the "Good" articles proposed by bot list. The stub type, which was not proposed at Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Proposals, does not meet the standard requirements for a stub type, either through being incorrectly named, ambiguously scoped, or through failure to meet standards relating to the current stub hierarchy or likely size, as explained at Wikipedia:Stub. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Alana Davis - 32 Flavors.jpg
editThanks for uploading Image:Alana Davis - 32 Flavors.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. editScanlan,
I'd like to thank you for all the good work you are putting into the article about Greg Urwin - you've improved greatly on the initial article that I created. I have a personal connection with his story and decided to create his article when I heard of his untimely death as my contribution to his memory. And so, I'm pleased it is growing beyond what I started. I'm trying to arrange for a picture of him and some references for the postings he held in his career to further improve the article. When/if those are available I would love to be able to show his family Greg's article on the mainpage DKY section (it's the least I can do). I've never really done any major edining - I focus mainly on the Wikipedia Weekly Podcast - so I'm intrigued that you seem to be a professional DKY editor. Anyway - keep up the good work.

After checking out your recent Oliver Crawford article, I took a look at the some of the other bios you've created. I am impressed. Interesting, quality-written bios about unusual people -- Bob LeMond, Madam Marie and Gloria Shayne Baker (to name just a few of the ones I read). I just wanted to say thanks for your great additions and the quality reading material. — CactusWriter | needles 09:26, 26 October 2008 (UTC)

editImage copyright problem with Image:Trash heap2.jpg
editThanks for uploading Image:Trash heap2.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
- That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

editHey thanks for catching my edit on the merge/delete/keep discussion for Ann Nixon cooper. I was aghast when you pointed out my change. I trying to copy/paste his formatting for my own comment when I inadvertantly edited his (I'm still puzzled how the change came out to be delete, when I myself was proposing keep). thank again. Hi - I see you have recently created one or more new stub types. As it states at Wikipedia:Stub, at the top of most stub categories, and in many other places on Wikipedia, it is recommended that new stub types are proposed prior to creation at Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Proposals.
In this particular case, there's no real problem, since - as you point out - it's one of very few places that didn't have a bio-stub type, and you did upmerge it appropriately. It would have been worth listing it for proposal though, just on the off-chance that there were problems with it and also to let the stub-sorters know it was going to be available (I doubt anyone would have objected to it, so it would have been speediable - proposing it would only have slowed things down a couple of hours and it would have been double-checked for possible problems).
Your new stub type is currently listed at Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Discoveries - please feel free to make any comments there as to any rationale for this stub type if you wish. And please, in future, consider proposing new stub types first! Grutness...wha? 07:54, 26 November 2008 (UTC)

- Hey, I was totally elated to see the really excellent comment you left re Category:Cape Verdean American politicians! You will never know what a blessed relief it was to come back and see that, as I was feeling really bummed out after having read the preceding comment. It's always such a struggle defending categories like these -- I will never really understand why so many editors have such negative feelings about such categories. Btw, were you aware that there's also a CFD for Category:Cape Verdean American sportspeople, right above the other two? Cgingold (talk) 00:18, 6 January 2009 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Jacques Bangou
editA tag has been placed on Jacques Bangou requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. §FreeRangeFrog 02:11, 22 February 2009 (UTC)

editAs a recent contributor to Deaths in 2009, you may be able to help decide on a proposed new policy. It is proposed that:

- Support.
or
- Oppose.
Also state your reasons and participate in the discussion. Michael Hardy (talk) 16:34, 2 March 2009 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of John Alvin (actor)
editA proposed deletion template has been added to the article John Alvin (actor), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:
- No indication of why this actor is notable
All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. editSpeedy deletion of Vivian Murray
editA tag has been placed on Vivian Murray requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.
If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. ww2censor (talk) 14:36, 4 April 2009 (UTC)
