Bahram BeyzaiEdit

Dear Athaenara,

Quite some time ago you deleted Template:Bahram Beyzai sidebar. Could you please revive it, so I can update it? It has a very honorable equivalent in the Persian Wikipedia . . . and I believe I can develop it to the point of usefulness.

Renuar Locaj draftEdit

in re: Draft:Renuar Locaj (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)

This page is not unambiguously promotional, because Locaj is a well-known artist in Albania. He is an ambassador for his country and it seems his last work on migration documents the pain and sacrifice of refugees. I believe he should be part of the greatest free encyclopedia in a neutral tone — Preceding unsigned comment added by WikiEDDE (talkcontribs) 09:19, 19 March 2022 (UTC)

@WikiEDDE: On the contrary, it was very obviously promotional, which is another way of saying what is meant when a page is tagged {{db-g11}} for deletion as "unambiguous advertising or promotion": it was not written in the appropriately neutral encyclopedic tone which Wikipedia policies and guidelines require. – Athaenara 10:00, 19 March 2022 (UTC)

Deleting to make room for movesEdit

Athaenara, when you delete a page to move another page there, you need to make sure that the page you deleted becomes a redirect, rather than creating a bunch of orphan red links all over wikipedia and external links. I've created Garuda Indonesia Flight 542 as the redirect, but if I hadn't had it on my watchlist, this would have been a redlink with links all over the place.

Thanks, Oiyarbepsy (talk) 05:14, 21 March 2022 (UTC)

Noted, thanks. Generally I avoid that category because it's not always clear how (or when!) somebody else is going to follow up on those pages. – Athaenara 05:27, 21 March 2022 (UTC)
Well, as the admin, you must be the one to make sure the redirect works, since we have no idea when anyone else will see it, and you're the one who knows exactly when it was deleted. Oiyarbepsy (talk) 03:25, 22 March 2022 (UTC)
I undeleted the previous revisions so the entire page history will be preserved. – Athaenara 11:42, 21 March 2022 (UTC)

Not assuming good faith in edit summariesEdit

Hi there, just to let you know that your edit summary of "some vandal switched cold and warm air: it's an inversion when warm air, which normally rises, is trapped beneath stagnant cold air, which normally sinks" on Great Smog of London was poor faith, and inaccurate. Checking the article history shows that that error has always been there - right back to the article's inception here from 12:17h 20 September 2009:

"On Thursday 4th December 1952, an anticyclone settled over a windless London causing a temperature inversion with very cold, stagnant air trapped under a layer (or "lid") of warm air."

Whilst your edit was correct, this isn't the first occasion where you've declared your changes to be reverting vandalism when that isn't the case. Fortunately this time it hasn't affected any other editors, but please take more care in both edits and assumptions, thanks. Chaheel Riens (talk) 17:11, 25 March 2022 (UTC)

I understand "the article's inception" to be the first edit which created the page. That 00:15, 12 August 2003 edit included, "air pollution was trapped by the heavy layer of cold air", which is correct. It was not contradicted until nearly six years later, when an edit timestamped 12:58, 21 June 2009 introduced "cold, stagnant air becoming trapped under a layer (or "lid") of warm air". – Athaenara 18:40, 25 March 2022 (UTC)
Apologies - for some reason The first edit in the article history came up as the one I linked to. Nevertheless - you are avoiding the issue at hand that you made presumptions in your edit summary. Funnily enough, this is what you did last time as well - ignored the reason for contacting you, and fixated on something else to appear blameless. Chaheel Riens (talk) 19:16, 25 March 2022 (UTC)

Venus Remedies DeletionEdit

in re: Draft:Venus Remedies (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs), see also User talk:SaffronHeart, User talk:BhargavKrishna97

Thanks for your deletion of the article I nominated! To me, it was clear that you deleted it using G11, which is evident from the deletion log. However, the creator, BhargavKrishna97, insisted that the article was neutral and informative (which seemed the contrary to me as it was like an advert), and said you invalidly deleted using G8 (however, that is because the page was dependent on the deleted G11 one). I believe those assertions to be incorrect, hence, could you look into this and kindly advise the editor? Many thanks. VickKiang (talk) 08:53, 28 March 2022 (UTC)

@VickKiang: Your tagging was correct, it was an advertisement which the company would have been happy to have on their own homepage and should not be undeleted. – Athaenara 09:09, 28 March 2022 (UTC)
Can you please share more details on what makes my draft an advertisement. Please, I request you to help me understand why you believe the article would be tagged as an advertisement? BhargavKrishna97 (talk) 09:16, 28 March 2022 (UTC)
Hi @Athaenara
I am 100% sure that the nominator, @VickKiang did not take the right decision by nominating my draft of Venus Remedies Limited for deletion under G11. Upon enquiring onto why he came to the specific conclusion that it is an advert or promotional write up, he just mentioned that I have used the word "Innovation". Truthfully there is not even one mention of the word in the main company description, the one he is pointing at is actually the name of few awards which are received by the company. I believe as people, we are no one to change or modify the names of awards which are officially awarded to specific entities.
This shows that editor did not review the article from a neutral mindset and he did not pay attention to various segments or where exactly certain words are placed which may be questionable. As a person who is dedicated towards contributing to the decentralization of Wiki, I strongly believe in incorporating only neutral and independent information onto Wiki space.
I would like to know your thoughts about the same issue. Please understand what I am trying to convey. BhargavKrishna97 (talk) 09:14, 28 March 2022 (UTC)
@BhargavKrishna97: You're evidently trying to turn this into a brawl with a conscientious, knowledgable, and level-headed Wikipedia editor. That's not the sort of thing that benefits this encyclopedia. I recommend that you stop. – Athaenara 09:20, 28 March 2022 (UTC)
brawl? @Athaenara with all my respect towards you and @VickKiang, I am just trying to understand what went wrong in the article. I really want to fix it as this is my first article and I have spent a lot of time and efforts into understanding the Wiki guidelines. As a admin, please don't threaten me, I am genuinely expecting more insight about the issue we have here. BhargavKrishna97 (talk) 09:26, 28 March 2022 (UTC)
@BhargavKrishna97: On the contrary, it is you who need more insight into the goals, policies, and guidelines of this encyclopedia. It is typical of new editors with a financial stake in one topic to go straight to that topic and ignore acquiring the skills and sensibilities Wikipedia editors need. You need to change your tune, and your behavior – Athaenara 09:34, 28 March 2022 (UTC)
Financial Stake? I am not related to the organization. I am genuinely interested with their progress in the pharmaceutical space in the country. I can tweak the article if you can provide some more details onto what makes it stand undeleted And yes, I meant I myself need more insight about why @VickKiang and you believe that the article is against goals, policies and guidelines of encyclopedia. But I dont think you are ready to help me. I will stop the current thread of conversation with you and @VickKiang
Thank you for your time. BhargavKrishna97 (talk) 09:44, 28 March 2022 (UTC)
Venus Remedies redux', or UTRS appeal #56917 FWIW, I'm not sure I would have deleted that latest iteration as g11. I probably would have sent SaffronHeart to WP:DRV instead of blocking w/o TPA. Best, --Deepfriedokra (talk) 16:13, 6 April 2022 (UTC)

Please Restore the deleted page Angel RiveraEdit

in re: Angel Rivera (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Hello, Hi Athaenara. I am new to Wikipedia and have really learned a lot today. I submitted my first article today and even though I read a lot and saw tons of tutorials I still missed it, my article was requested that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. As requested I have updated and disclosed the employer as per Wikipedia terms, as previously stated I am a freelancer and I write a lot of different content and articles for clients thanks to you all I have understood that there is a Wikipedia: Paid-contribution disclosure and editors are supposed to update that. Am sorry at first I was afraid and confused about what to tell you but now am confident and ready to learn, stay honest and transparent in all manners. Kindly I will highly appreciate your guidance in all cases I believe your assistance will matter a lot, I just wanted to create a simple article like this one for terry matalas about the person (Angel Rivera) he is a well-known person verified on Twitter with over a million followers has been a politician, an actor and is a fashion enthusiast he also runs a company that provides a safer career upcoming women models in America. please assist in reverting and advise me on the best way on recreating the page to meet the neutral requirements of a Wiki page and removing all promotional content on my page. Will highly appreciate your assistance.

Please can you help out me, with how to make my Article like other's Articles, kindly restore the page, and advise me on where I should do the corrections to meet the neutral standards, I don't need it to be a promotional page I just need it neutral and online really think that that article is valuable for Wikipedia and would kindly ask you to reconsider undeleting it, I will take on board the feedback I received and attempt to re-write this to meet wiki criteria. I would appreciate any feedback and support. Mambablaq.1 (talk) 17:31, 28 March 2022 (UTC)

[external links redacted] — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mambablaq.1 (talkcontribs) 17:16, 28 March 2022 (UTC)

@Mambablaq.1: Consider the following passage as just one example:
Rivera claims the throne of King of Fashion with his unorthodox approach to fashion. He is quoted as saying “There no limits in fashion, I see it as art. Every piece is special and everyone observes it differently. I push the boundaries with my work and I want my audience to have a visual experience unimagined.”
That kind of writing may be suitable for a fan magazine or in the subject's own advertisements. It does not belong in an encyclopedia. – Athaenara 18:00, 28 March 2022 (UTC)

see also: User talk:JoyWhick, User talk:, User talk:Chinmayajailwala

Athaenara, you deleted Navi Group as a G11, immediately after Graeme Bartlett restored it as a deleted PROD. I would assume Graeme would not have restored it if he saw it as problematic. I have declined the second undeletion request, but I wanted to know why you think the article was not neutral? Why do you think the article content could not be converted into a neutral tone, if it was not? Also, I notice no one had tagged the page for G11, nor did you tag it, but deleted it outright. Jay (talk) 07:13, 29 March 2022 (UTC)

@Jay: As I said in my deletion summary, "regardless of "soft delete" this article is WP:SPAM". I encountered the page when I was checking the deleted contributions of one of the sockpuppet accounts which were used to create it (I linked their talk pages, which are now among the links I posted here under the section heading, in my deletion summary). – Athaenara 07:46, 29 March 2022 (UTC)

Nym NetworkEdit

in re: Nym Network (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views), Draft:Nym Network (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)

Hello Admin,

You recently deleted a page I created. The Nym is the most talked about topic in the crypto world right now and I wanted to cover a page on it. It seems like I have made it read like an advertisement and thus the deletion. I would like to work on it again and improve it for Wikipedia. There are many references about Nym. Please guide me how to make it Encyclopedic and suitable for Wikipedia.

Thank you very much :) Consinger (talk) 09:30, 4 April 2022 (UTC)

@Consinger: More feedback is available on the Conflict of interest/Noticeboard. – Athaenara 09:34, 6 April 2022 (UTC)
@Athaenara: Hello, I am sorry but I don't understand it. I am not here to promote the project. I will rework on the article again and submit it through AFC as instructed. Shall I use AFC and skip Sandbox for this? Please advise. Consinger (talk) 06:44, 7 April 2022 (UTC)
@Athaenara: Hey admin, can you please help me out here? I am sure I can fix my mistakes and create a page suitable for Wikipedia. I will really appreciate your support in this. Thank you Consinger (talk) 01:28, 14 April 2022 (UTC)

New European BauhausEdit

Deleted page for G11 and G12

in re: Draft:New European Bauhaus (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)

Hello Athaenara! I am new to Wikipedia and i submitted my first article yesterday : Draft:New European Bauhaus. Few times later it was deleted, and I noticed you tagged G11 and G12 on. Is it possible to get back the article and edit it ? If you say that the presentation seems directed by a promotion purpose, i obviously need to write differently some paragraphs. The purpose of this page is not to promote a company or a product, but to present an artistic movement launched by the European Commission, which makes date and reference like the historical Bauhaus movement. The point of view of this page is neutral because it's about providing information to the Wikipedia community about the context in which contemporary artistic projects emerge these last two years in Europe, so i think it totally deserves to be included. Thank you for your time Salila.sihou (talk) 10:26, 5 April 2022 (UTC)

No, it won't be undeleted. If this is the only topic you intend to write about here, you must declare your conflict of interest in promoting the subject (see {{UserboxCOI}}). – Athaenara 10:42, 5 April 2022 (UTC)

in re: SideQuestVR (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Hi there, please can I retrieve the deleted material for future improvement. If you could offer advice on areas that were unambiguously promotional to aid in a rewrite that would be great as I followed all guidelines and the article was written from what I thought was an objective and neutral viewpoint. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cei.ansley (talkcontribs) 08:27, 12 April 2022 (UTC)

Administrator activity policy updateEdit

Hello, Athaenara. This message is to let you know about a change to the administrator policy:

The administrator policy has been updated with new activity requirements following a successful Request for Comment.

Beginning January 1, 2023, administrators who meet one or both of the following criteria may be desysopped for inactivity if they have:

  1. Made neither edits nor administrative actions for at least a 12-month period OR
  2. Made fewer than 100 edits over a 60-month period
Administrators at risk for being desysopped under these criteria will continue to be notified ahead of time. Thank you for your continued work. — xaosflux Talk 20:30, 16 April 2022 (UTC)

Hi Athaenara. Why would you delete this page, it's a draft. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Billie J Jackson (talkcontribs) 16:28, 20 April 2022 (UTC)

@Billie J Jackson: You seem to have been assigned, by someone, the task of creating a Wikipedia page for your subject. You also seem to be slow to pick up on the fact that while this assignment of yours may be your primary concern, it is not Wikipedia's primary concern. – Athaenara 19:45, 20 April 2022 (UTC)
Slow to pick up on what? Did I mention that this was, or should be, the highest priority of Wiki? I don't think so. I just want my draft reinstated. I thought Wiki was embracing a new helpful attitude toward new editors but that does not seem to be the case. You are 100% unprofessionally condescending and, worse of all, unhelpful. I'm going to report this because perhaps there will be someone that can actually help me with a draft that should never of been deleted in the first place. Billie J Jackson (talk) 00:26, 21 April 2022 (UTC)
After reading the comments above, it seems that I'm not the only person you are treating poorly. Hopefully my complaint will be of service for other new users of Wikipedia. Billie J Jackson (talk) 00:29, 21 April 2022 (UTC)
We have different perspectives. I'm a Wikipedia admin who specializes in protecting the encyclopedia from single-purpose accounts which are being used to promote particular people/topics/companies etc. (see WP:COI). What is the "new helpful attitude" you expected to encounter? – Athaenara 00:42, 21 April 2022 (UTC)

Administrators' noticeboardEdit

in re: Administrators' noticeboard (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

This is to let you know that I have restored Administrators' noticeboard, since R2 does not apply to all cross-namespace redirects from the mainspace, specifically to projectspace. The page history also has a previously contested PROD and reference to an RfD discussion (Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2011 March 17 § Administrators' Noticeboard), albeit from 2011. Sdrqaz (talk) 20:39, 21 April 2022 (UTC)

CSD G13sEdit

Hello, Athaenara,

I hope you are doing well. Earlier today, DaxServer tagged a lot of old User pages for CSD G13 deletion that were not eligible for that criteria. As a reminder, the only pages that qualify for CSD G13 deletion criteria are any pages that have not been edited by a human in six months found in:

  • Draft namespace,
  • Userspace with an {{AFC submission}} template
  • Userspace with no content except the article wizard placeholder text.

Most of the User pages he tagged were just old sandboxes and had never been submitted to AFC for review or utilized the Article Wizard so they were not eligible. I hope that one day we might have a discussion at the Village Pump and come up with a solution for the hundreds of thousands of old User pages that don't fit the rather strict speedy deletion criteria. But as of now, the feeling, by and large, has been "No big deal, let them be". So, they sit there for years, hell, decades, until the community views them as a problem. Thanks for everything and I'll probably run into you, patrolling those CSD categories! Liz Read! Talk! 22:54, 22 April 2022 (UTC)

Hello Athaenara,

May I please be given a copy of the material on the deleted article for Jessica_Corr? I don't know if you'd be able to give this to me as a draft or in a talk page? As far as I remember the overall structure of the article might be salvageable as brief but well referenced biography, so I figured it may be good practice for me to try and work on point of view/neutrality with the help of the teahouse community. Thanks

PS -- in doing so, if you'd also be kind enough to point out your specific areas of concerns re G11 that'd obviously be amazingly helpful. SleepyWhippet (talk) 04:39, 6 May 2022 (UTC)

Speedy Deletion of Page created for Pratik SenEdit

in re: Pratik Sen (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Hi Athaenara,

I received the notification of speedy deletion of the page created for Pratik Sen, who is a very popular actor in Bengali cinema. I would like to know the reason(s) for the speedy deletion as there was no unambiguous advertising of the person - rather the complete profile on Pratik Sen. All information is factual after much research and validation.

As much as possible I have provided the reference links to articles keeping in mind the plagiarism guidelines as well as to corroborate the information provided.

Happy to update references which is possibly the only column that is incomplete for all works listed and/or clarify any information that comes across as incorrect or questionable.

Thanks Geeta — Preceding unsigned comment added by AnamikaWrites (talkcontribs) 10:26, 6 May 2022 (UTC)

It looks like Athaenara undeleted this based on your request. The CSD tag was still on it, and I ran across the material during a routine search for junk sources. I re-assessed and re-deleted the material as purely promotional and poorly sourced. If you need more details than that, let me know on my talk page. Otherwise, please use the draft article at Draft:Pratik Sen; fix it there and have it accepted through the AFC process. Kuru (talk) 11:44, 6 May 2022 (UTC)

@Major Lyte: There is a world of difference between an encyclopedia article and a webpage designed to portray a subject in the most flattering terms possible. What you wrote was an example of the latter and is what is called WP:SPAM here on this encyclopedia. – Athaenara 02:17, 10 May 2022 (UTC)

in re: Draft:MahaDAO (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)

Please Reinstate my MahaDAO wiki

Hello there,

Recently you sent my draft of "MahaDao" for speedy deletion under the pretence of "unambiguous advertising". Can you clarify on what grounds this is advertising or promoting a company/group/product etc..? My draft was simply providing information on a notable topic regarding MahaDAO. If possible can you give me an in-depth explanation of how to avoid having this type of post deleted as the criteria for speedy deletion is not clear. My tone throughout the draft was neutral.

Any information on the matter would be greatly appreciated. Regards,

LexB77 (talk) 01:32, 13 May 2022 (UTC)Lex

@LexB77: The page you refer to as "my wiki" was straight up WP:SPAM and not a valid encyclopedia article. It's really rather appalling of you to try to insist that it was. – Athaenara 01:41, 13 May 2022 (UTC)
Apologies for not using the correct nomenclature. Can you help me differentiate what the difference between my contribution was, to something like Cardano? The link you provided to WP:SPAM doesn't provide any insight, and I would like to learn where I went wrong, and what I can do to improve the contribution.

@LexB77: A closer reading of the first section, Wikipedia:Spam#Advertisements masquerading as articles, should yield more of the insight you seek. Wikipedia:Single-purpose account may help you understand the scrutiny you're experiencing as well. – Athaenara 22:51, 13 May 2022 (UTC)
"Articles considered advertisements include those that are solicitations for a business, product or service, or are public relations pieces designed to promote a company or individual. Wikispam articles are usually noted for sales-oriented language and external links to a commercial website. However, a differentiation should be made between spam articles and legitimate articles about commercial entities."
"When an article on an otherwise encyclopedic topic has the tone of an advertisement, the article can often be salvaged by rewriting it in a neutral point of view. "
Again, forgive me but I don't see the difference in what was presented, and what is presented in this article Cardano . I modelled my format after this to ensure it was as neutral as possible. Additionally, my first contribution to wikipedia was this article, so it seems pre-mature to label me a " Wikipedia:single-purpose account ". LexB77 (talk) 00:51, 15 May 2022 (UTC)Lex

Deletion of Permanente Medical Groups Wikipedia pageEdit

Hello Athaenara,

I'm reaching out to request the restoration of the Permanente Medical Groups Wikipedia page that was recently tagged for speedy deletion. It is not intended to be "unambiguous advertising" as currently marked. This article was posted on behalf of The Permanente Federation to preserve the important history of the Permanente Medical Groups. I contributed this article as a first-time poster, so please let me know if there are any specific adjustments that you would like to be made in order to make this entry fall within Wikipedia guidelines.

Thank you in advance for your assistance and consideration.

Good Glamm GroupEdit

Speedy deletion

Hi Athaenara,

contacting with respect to a page deleted today (Good Glamm Group). i had removed ALL promotional language and had made substantial changes in the article the moment it was G11 tagged.i believe G11 did not apply because the latter version was better and wsnot exclusively promotional and did not require a fundamental rewrite.Khgk (talk) 14:02, 20 May 2022 (UTC)

It's still spam, and apparently designed to give the company a Wikipedia presence which may make it appear to have more Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies) than it actually has. – Athaenara 00:08, 21 May 2022 (UTC)

Deletion of "Aaron Chatterley"Edit

in re: Aaron Chatterley (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views), see also WAAPHC (talk · contribs)

I'm not the author of that page, but I believe it would have been a better idea to move that article to draftspace rather than delete it. I don't believe I saw much of anything in that article violating G11, and G12 could have been easily blanked and then have the article sent to draftspace. If I'm wrong about this, please tell me. ~XyNq (talk)(contrib) 01:13, 22 May 2022 (UTC)

@XyNq: It was violating all of that; WP:TNT applies. – Athaenara 01:36, 22 May 2022 (UTC)
Right, I see. Thanks ~XyNq (talk)(contrib) 01:44, 22 May 2022 (UTC)

Jimmy Wright (disambiguation)Edit

Did you read the note I added to the talk page? OK, I realise I'd forgotten that the CSD only applies to a very narrow category within the larger set of "Unnecessary disambiguation pages" (ie not "what it says on the tin"), but although it's a valid dab page in itself if it useless: the base title points elsewhere so no-one would ever find it.

I've now PRODded. Just thought it worth a mention - if you see an unexpected CSD it might be worth checking the talk page for explanation. PamD 08:25, 24 May 2022 (UTC)

On third thoughts, I've redirected it to the existing dab page. Leaving this as a redirect makes it less likely someone will re-create it. PamD 08:32, 24 May 2022 (UTC)

@PamD: No problem, I'll leave it to you. – Athaenara 08:33, 24 May 2022 (UTC)

Regarding the G11 on a userspace pageEdit

Hi Athaenara,

I just wanted to leave you a quick note about the G11 you placed on User:Cianna.brie/Shein's Contributions to Global Climate Crisis. As you will gather from the log, I initially agreed with your assessment and deleted the page under G11. However, I went back and took another look, coming to the conclusion that the page is a personal essay of sorts. It is surely unsuitable for the article space, but I thought I was wrong for deleting it as a G11. Best, Modussiccandi (talk) 08:25, 26 May 2022 (UTC)
