Declined speedy G12EditJust so I understand, unattributed copy-pasted text from a CC-BY-SA source is not a speedy G12 because the license allows copying under certain conditions, even though the conditions weren't met? In other words, because the attribution could be added, it's not a speedy candidate? Thanks for any explanation. I'm still learning how the various speedy criteria apply. Undeletion requestEditYou deleted the page Javee Mocon per WP:G5. Now, this player is currently playing in the top professional league in the Philippines and I am requesting you to un-delete this page so I could expand and update it. If undeletion could not be done, could I have the markup of the page before it was deleted? So I could use that to recreate the page myself. Thank you. Babymissfortune 07:52, 20 January 2019 (UTC)

Undelete request: File:Vertical airspeeds of Boeing Max 737s in 2018-2019 crashes.jpgEditI understand why this image was tagged as a copyvio, but I think the tag was incorrect. Could you review and reconsider? For ease, I'll quote the description I provided:
As far as I'm aware, the only copyrightable elements might be choice of colors and captioning - the graph itself cannot be copyrighted, as it is a non-creative endeavor. A certain degree of creativity is needed to make a graph copyrightable, and I'm not sure that this graph meets that criterion. Could you consider undeleting it? Alternatively, what would your view be on approaching it this way:
Thanks! FT2 (Talk | email) 02:02, 20 March 2019 (UTC)
Hi, you declined a G12 on List of countries by past population (United Nations, estimates) on creative grounds, and I'm wondering why you are certain this isn't a creative work? The numbers are not presented as facts per se but rather as estimates, which would likely be considered "creative." Also, the U.N. license is still incompatible with our license. Non-copyrightable data has been subject to use restrictions by U.S. courts when a license exists. SportingFlyer T·C 19:08, 23 March 2019 (UTC)

ArbCom 2019 special circularEdit
This message was sent to all administrators following a recent motion. Thank you for your attention. For the Arbitration Committee, Cameron11598 02:49, 4 May 2019 (UTC) Administrator account security (Correction to Arbcom 2019 special circular)EditArbCom would like to apologise and correct our previous mass message in light of the response from the community. Since November 2018, six administrator accounts have been compromised and temporarily desysopped. In an effort to help improve account security, our intention was to remind administrators of existing policies on account security — that they are required to "have strong passwords and follow appropriate personal security practices." We have updated our procedures to ensure that we enforce these policies more strictly in the future. The policies themselves have not changed. In particular, two-factor authentication remains an optional means of adding extra security to your account. The choice not to enable 2FA will not be considered when deciding to restore sysop privileges to administrator accounts that were compromised. We are sorry for the wording of our previous message, which did not accurately convey this, and deeply regret the tone in which it was delivered. For the Arbitration Committee, -Cameron11598 21:03, 4 May 2019 (UTC) Deletion of Page Ren (singer)EditDear CactusWriter, It has come to my notice that a page I've created was deleted by you. Kundan SrivastavaEditDear CactusWriter, Namastey from India. I've created a page was rejected by CNMall41 on 24 July. Earlier they advised me to search the reliable sources of Kundan and then citation it properly. After submission of draft, the article was rejected for no reasons. It was flagged saying that this submission is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia. It is previously deleted article about the same person many times and the protection log. I agree sir, may it was deleted earlier lack of reliable sources, notability (suitable/sufficient sourcing). Now, he has handsome reliable sources and notability. Google is too showing his notability. https://g.co/kgs/6TLjbg Kundan Srivastava is a noted human rights activist and working since many years from the young age featured in BBC World Service and International media for his fearless works for human rights, you can research as well. Secondly, I came to you to know that on which ground article was actually rejected now? Only because the article about him was deleted earlier many times? I have mentioned the reliable sources, notability (suitable/sufficient sourcing). I’d request you to check the draft once. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Lekkala_R_Reddy/sandbox Please help me to get this article published; if meet all the guidelines. I'll be highly grateful to you. Wikipedia is for those people who’re doing some notable works in respective fields. Kundan deserves to be included in Wikipedia directory because of his notability. Please help me to get this article published; if meet all the guidelines. I'll be highly grateful to you. Lekkala R Reddy (talk) 13:55, 25 July 2019 (UTC) Dear CactusWriter, please reply. Dear CactusWriter, Thankyou for your warm reply. Somewhere I agree with your words that failure to meet the guidelines for inclusion in Wikipedia doesn’t diminish the work of Kundan. But I’m sad and discourage that Kundan article was rejected after a handsome reliable sources and coverage. I have mentioned these reliable sources as citations of article. https://www.freepressjournal.in/lifestyle/kundan-srivastava-the-man-who-fights-for-human-rights https://www.deccanchronicle.com/entertainment/bollywood/190719/ill-always-be-there-for-people-who-have-been-ill-treated-kundan-sriv.html https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p03mcy46 https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/middle-east/saudi-arabia-jails-worker-indian-migrant-spoke-out-work-conditions-online-viral-video-abdul-sattar-a6943901.html https://www.sify.com/finance/saudi-employer-demanded-rs-15-lakh-to-let-two-indians-go-free-news-editors-picks-qdwsc6gaibjji.html https://topyaps.com/indian-workers-in-saudi-arabia/ http://www.internationalnewsandviews.com/a-human-rights-activist-wins-veer-putra-samman-award/ I’d like to understand which articles of these meet the guidelines and which are not. AfroCine: Join the Months of African Cinema this October!EditGreetings! After a successful first iteration of the “Months of African Cinema” last year, we are happy to announce that it will be happening again this year, starting from October 1! In the 2018 edition of the contest, about 600 Wikipedia articles were created in at least 8 languages. There were also contributions to Wikidata and Wikimedia commons, which brought the total number of wikimedia pages created during the contest to over 1,000. The AfroCine Project welcomes you to October, the first out of the two months which have been dedicated to creating and improving content that centre around the cinema of Africa, the Caribbean, and the diaspora. Join us in this global edit-a-thon, by helping to create or expand articles which are connected to this scope. Also remember to list your name under the participants section. On English Wikipedia, we would be recognizing participants in the following manner:

This has been done for the following reason:
Under the criteria for speedy deletion, pages that meet certain criteria may be deleted at any time. If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. "Poor to fair"?EditHi there, I'm unclear on where "poor to fair" came from in this edit. Holger Christian Langmack and the “Under God” in the PledgeEditI rarely go on to Wikipedia. I am the person who added the section regarding Holger Christian Langmack and the inclusion of “Under God” in the Pledge. When I did this so many years ago, I included with it the a picture of a letter that is in our possession - From President Truman. This letter was written to my Grandfather regarding his letter about adding these two words to the pledge. I sent in the picture of this letter to be used in the Wikipedia article. It never showed up in the article, but I assumed that whoever was editing would see it. My mother, who has this letter, now lives in Sweden. I cannot get a copy of the letter right away to include it here. But this is NOT a family fable, and I am insulted that you would say that along with your editing. This is a well known fact, and not just by our family. One of my cousins still sits on the Presidential Prayer Breakfast because he “inherited” my Grandfather’s seat. My Grandfather helped to establish the Presidential Prayer Breakfast along with Abraham Vereide, Richard Halverson and Billy Graham, among many others. Although my Grandfather shunned notoriety, he was right there alongside these men in helping to establish this in 1953. This is one of the reasons why I do not think Wikipedia is a good source of any knowledge. Because the editors do not do a good job weeding out the fact from fiction. You don’t have to reinsert Mr. Langmack’s contribution into this article. I know his contribution to the “Under God” inclusion, among other things, to be facts. I am just sorry that anyone reading Wikipedia believes everything they read. Abraham Vereide, Richard Halverson and Billy Graham were close personal friends of our family. That’s a fact. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.22.7.211 (talk) 14:47, 19 February 2020 (UTC)

Request Undeletion of Rajendra NakodEditHello CactusWriter, I noticed that you have put the article the Nomination for deletion Rajendra Nakod which I drafted. Could you please undelete the article on Rajendra Nakod. He is outstanding tablist /Tabla players in India. A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Rajendra Nakod is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted. Unfortunately he does not have much media exposure, which he is not focusing all that actually If you put the article for the reason lack of notability... let me have a look at it again. He is a significant person in musicians in India especially in hindusanti classical music. I will remove it any way. kindly remove the deletion tag. I really appreciated for your kind attention
I always ready to participate in any discussion of deletion. I know the artist more than a decade as a performer and where he comes from. He is not much bothered about any kind of media coverage or public publicity other than a performer. But i thing i strongly know that he has lots of followers in music and music lovers, I have noticed that during his public concerts. So that as a performer i need he must be part or in free knowledge source like wiki. I kindly request you to remove the Nomination for deletion Rajendra Nakod that you have placed.

You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki. When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed. Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help. If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter. We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January. Thank you. /Johan (WMF) 18:14, 4 January 2022 (UTC) Precious anniversaryEdit

ArbCom 2022 Elections voter messageEditHello! Voting in the 2022 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 12 December 2022. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate in the 2022 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add Unprotection request for Abominable (2019 film)EditRecently, I noticed that the page for the film Abominable was apparently protected at the "Extended confirmed protected" level, apparently due to some edit war that occurred almost six months before the film was even released. Seeing as it has not been previously set to a semi-protection level along with the fact that nearly four years have passed by since then with not much activity (at least to the best of my knowledge, anyway), are you able to either reduce or remove the current protection level? Thanks! IceWalrus236 (talk) 06:57, 27 January 2023 (UTC)
Undeletion requestEditHi there, I was working on a page https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Matthew_Mason_(physiologist) about a professor who is fairly prominent at my university but it got deleted because sometime thought I was writing about myself and I did not use third party references. Please can I request it to be undeleted so I can work on it further by providing more reliable sources? I'm new to editing Wikipedia so I wasn't aware of the source requirement, and I am certainly not writing about myself, thanks! Moosd (talk) 18:54, 1 February 2023 (UTC) |
