Speedy deletion nomination of Athletics at the 2015 European Games edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Athletics at the 2015 European Games requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organized event (tour, function, meeting, party, etc.), but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. ~~ Sintaku Talk 12:49, 14 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of File:EYOF Logo.jpeg edit

A tag has been placed on File:EYOF Logo.jpeg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

File source and copyright licensing problem with File:EYOF logo.jpg edit

File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:EYOF logo.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status and its source. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously.

If you did not create this work entirely yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. You will also need to state under what licensing terms it was released. Please refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file.

Please add this information by editing the image description page. If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 13:31, 1 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

Non-free rationale for File:EYOF logo.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:EYOF logo.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 13:58, 1 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. UK National Championships edit

The UK National Championships were an entirely different and separate event from the AAA Championships (otherwise known as the British Championships. The two ran concurrently, and so putting them on one page is, in my opinion, wrong. I would be grateful if you could undo your edits and move the page back. Thanks, JDWFC (talk) 18:44, 4 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

= I'm afraid you are incorrect here. The British Championships, either under its current name or the UK Athletics championships, and the AAA have never been the same competition. The AA have always been run, as the name suggests by AAA - the Amateur Athletics Association, an English organisation, the latter was run originally by the now bankrupt British Athletics Federation, and then by its successor UK athletics, recently trading under the name British athletics.

While there is an argument to be made that the UK Championships pre 2007 and the similarly named championships post 2007 could be considered different, neither is by any stretch of the imagination the 'Triple As', am much, much older event Mpjmcevoybeta (talk) 18:56, 4 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Invite to the African Destubathon edit

Hi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most geography, wildlife and women articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 53 African countries, so should be enjoyable! So it would be a good chance to win something for improving stubs on African Paralympians, particularly female ones, but also male. Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance (think Regions of countries etc). If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing a few expanded articles on African Paralympians, Olympians and committees etc, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section. Diversity of work from a lot of people will make this that bit more special. Thanks.♦ Dr. Blofeld 10:47, 5 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:17, 3 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

RonBot (talk) 17:11, 15 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

2019 European Short Course Swimming Championships moved to draftspace edit

An article you recently created, 2019 European Short Course Swimming Championships, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It is too soon for this article to be created, so I have moved it to draft for the time being. After the event has taken place, or once there is sourcable pre-coverage of the event (i.e. in reliable news sources), it can be moved back to main space. At present it is WP:TOO SOON. — Insertcleverphrasehere (or here) 22:34, 19 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Glasgow 2019 European Athletics indoor Championships logo.png edit

Thank you for uploading File:Glasgow 2019 European Athletics indoor Championships logo.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Your draft article, Draft:2019 European Short Course Swimming Championships edit

Hello, Mpjmcevoybeta. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "2019 European Short Course Swimming Championships".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. Liz Read! Talk! 20:21, 15 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

2019 Euro T20 Slam edit

Hi. This is not an improvement and looks a total mess too. Thanks. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 14:30, 18 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

Looks a total mess' is a ridiculously subjective argument for personal aesthetic taste. It sets out basic, important information (the bloody teams in the competition!!) in an easily readable , rational and tabular form. When full identities and schedules become available, they can be added, but this information is both important and relevant and the aesthetic objection is baseless.
Remember, WP:CIRNOT It does not mean perfection is required. Articles can be improved in small steps, rather than being made perfect in one fell swoop. Small improvements are our bread and butter.

Discretionary sanctions alert - gender and sexuality edit

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in gender-related disputes or controversies or in people associated with them. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

Hello. As part of new page patrolling, I came across 8 new articles that you had created which do not contain a single reference:

Moving forward, would you mind working on articles like these in draft space, or in a user page, until they at least contain some references? I'm not going to move them to draft space just yet, but I can't guarantee that another NPP reviewer won't. Hey man im josh (talk) 15:00, 23 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

Template change question edit

Hi, I was wondering why you changed the format of some of the British Athletics Championship winners template styles last year from using hlist to plainlist e.g. {{British Athletics Championships men's 5000 metres champions}}, diff? Was there an agreement to change them? Most other athletics and sports templates use hlist, and I am not aware of any problems with doing so, and hlist takes up way less screen space than plainlist. Joseph2302 (talk) 09:01, 15 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

Seeing as you haven't provided a justification for these undiscussed template changes, I have started reverting them. Per WP:BRD, if you wish to change the format of multiple related templates, please discuss first e.g. on WT:SPORTS or WT:ATHLETICS. Joseph2302 (talk) 09:36, 8 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
