Hello, Aidan721,

I was wondering why you emptied most but not all of these college soccer team season categories. Did you just remove categories from Redirect pages or is this a more complicated recategorization? Thanks for any explanation you can provide. Liz Read! Talk! 19:53, 16 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Liz: I removed the categories from the many redirect pages. It seems some user went crazy creating a redirect for every team over the past few years. –Aidan721 (talk) 20:05, 16 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
I thought that was what you were doing when I went to look at some of the pages that were removed from these categories. The situation was even worse than you describe, the editor made a redirect for each soccer team season, especially from the years 2019-2021. They could probably all go to WP:RFD if I was more comfortable making huge bundled nominations but I'm not. Luckily the editor didn't make redirect pages for every year these college teams played in soccer competitions, just some recent seasons. As for categories, I know we have a few that only contain redirect pages (especially in the "songs by artist" categories) but I think they are generally allowed by policy. It doesn't make sense though to have a whole category tree populated only by redirect pages since categorization on redirects is done so sporadically and inconsistently.
Hope all is well with you! Have a good week. Liz Read! Talk! 20:24, 16 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Categoru:Dutch Caribbean edit

I speedily processed the category two days ago, but ir was wrong, because it is not about Dutch diaspora, but about Dutch Caribbean. I have now moved it back. If you think splitting is needed this should be done at CFD. Thanks. Ymblanter (talk) 06:55, 17 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

"Disasters" in Ireland" edit

Hi Aidan. You've recently added a number of articles about criminal and/or terrorist attacks to categories covering "Disasters in Ireland". These Troubles-related events were and are already covered by appropriate terrorism, criminality and Troubles categories. The "Disasters" categories, certainly Ireland-related ones where they are caused by humans, are almost exclusively used for non-criminal events - famines, landslides, floods, etc. Can I ask you to revert these changes, please? BastunĖġáḍβáś₮ŭŃ! 17:27, 17 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I appreciate the comment. Category:Terrorist incidents and Category:Attacks fall under Category:Disasters. These articles definitely belong in Category:Disasters in Ireland by year. Category:2023 disasters may be helpful to see how this category tree is structured. Thanks and let me know if there's any other ways I can help. –Aidan721 (talk) 17:40, 17 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Youth association football categories edit

FYI your template edits have caused Category:1980s in youth association football and other decades, as well as Category:2010s in women's weightlifting and other decades, to be placed in redlinked categories. Category:Identical triplets for cases where all three triples have wiki articles, but there is no article for the group edit

Hello, I'm asking about your revert to edits on triplets Leila Luik‎, Liina Luik‎, and Lily Luik. Each individual in that group is most often covered as a triplet; it's a defining characteristic about them. I asked the user who made the comment about removing the category from individuals here, and they said that it is a gray area and that I should contact you. So I don't think that the deletion decision was to remove all individuals from the categories, because in the decision it only said "purge" with no comments about individuals. I think you would need another CfD to say that individuals definitively do not belong, so I will add them back in the mean time. What do you think? --Habst (talk) 17:19, 23 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

(as closer) Habst, when I said purge, I meant purge biographies, because that was what was suggested in the discussion. — Qwerfjkltalk 19:50, 23 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Updating sort keys edit

Hi, when nominating categories e.g. for renaming from "by city" to "by populated place", please would you also update the sort keys that use "city" to "Populated place"? – unless you are planning to do a sweep of them afterwards to update this, or unless there is serious doubt about the nomination going through. – Fayenatic London 12:36, 29 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Help tagging edit

Sure. I'll tag them all with massCFD. –Aidan721 (talk) 17:40, 1 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Minor update to massCFD edit

I noticed you frequently nominate category for discussion where the category size is a factor, and so the template {{clc}} is probably better when listing the categories. I've updated massCFD to support other templates for listing categories - let me know what you think, and if you find any bugs. Happy editing! — Qwerfjkltalk 21:45, 1 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Why not move the template? edit

Can you walk me through your edits related to a template that I spent a lot of time on? It seems like you renamed a template by creating a new page Template:Universities_and_colleges_(dis)established_in_YYYY_category_header [1] without attribution, and then redirecting the old page Template:Universities_and_colleges_established_by_year [2]

It seems like the more appropriate approach would have been to move the template and preserve the edit history Mason (talk) 23:43, 4 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
