Hello, I see you have questioned notability on many articles that I have worked on, all articles meet notabilty and are being added to frequently.

From the notability guideline: songs that have been ranked on national or significant music charts, that have won significant awards or honors or that have been independently released as a recording by several notable artists, bands or groups are probably notable. Notability aside, a separate article on a song is only appropriate when there is enough verifiable material to warrant a reasonably detailed article; articles unlikely ever to grow beyond stubs should be merged to articles about an artist or album.

No article questioned is a stub, for example Skweeze Me Pleeze Me article has the same amount of information and yet that has not been questioned. Many songs have been a hit in several countries which chart data is shown.

There are also many articles based on singles which have smaller information and have never been questioned such as Queeen's One Year of Love and Pain Is So Close to Pleasure.

Notability of the two non-charting singles - Universe was Slade's last single and there is plenty of information to cover that. Give Us a Goal was used for the popular video game Fifa 09. The rest have charted and have enough information to avoid being labelled as a stub. No one else has questioned this. Ajsmith141 (talk) 12:17, 14 January 2011 (UTC)

  • To be notable as a stand alone article, songs must generally have multiple verifiable sources to establish their notability individually. The references for most of these articles are only chart listings. The ones that were covered by other notable artists were not PRODed. jsfouche ☽☾Talk 12:26, 14 January 2011 (UTC)

Article Confirmation

I've done extensive research on this page and it all seems to check out. I don't understand why you would suggest that it should be removed. His music videos are affiliated with MTV, he has a reality show that has been picked up by the CW network, and he has a music and film deal with Universal. He's the youngest owner ever of a professional basketball team which happens to also be global (ABA) He's also one of Atlanta's top producing real estate agents. He is a socialite and exclusive party promoter in the greater Atlanta area as well. He seems to be extremely notable and worthy of a wikipedia entry as far as I'm concerned. His sites www.AdrianProvost.com and www.PlanetProvost.com are very notable, as well as his charity Life Juice. He's had numerous television appearances and is well known throughout society. I've reviewed plenty of articles on wikipedia and I can not seem to find justification for the deletion of this page, but the inclusion of some of those other articles. It doesn't seem to make sense to me, please help me understand this. I've spent a considerable amount of time researching the subject and even more time in contributing to the article. I would appreciate an explanation in further detail and would like to know the necessary steps to get this included so I don't feel as if I have wasted so much of my time. GOCE drive news

Guild of Copy Editors January 2011 backlog elimination drive

Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors January 2011 Backlog elimination drive! The drive is halfway over, so here are some mid-drive stats.

Participation

GOCE January 2011 backlog elimination drive progress graphs

So far, 43 people have signed up for this drive. Of these, 25 have participated. If you signed up for the drive but haven't participated yet, it's not too late! Try to copy edit at least a few articles. Remember, if you have rollover words from the last drive, you will lose them if you do not participate in this drive. If you haven't signed up for the drive yet, you can sign up now.

Progress report

We have eliminated two months from the backlog – January and February 2009. One of our goals is to eliminate as many months as possible from the 2009 backlog. Please help us reduce the size of this part of the backlog if you haven't already. Another goal is to reduce the entire backlog by 10%, or by 515 articles. Currently, we have eliminated 375 articles from the queue, so if each participant copy edits four more articles, we will reach that goal.

Thank you for participating in the January 2011 drive. We anticipate it will be another big success!

XXX (District of Sao Paulo)

I haven't a clue what you're up to with these unnecessary additions of (district of Sao Paulo) to names that are already included in the Category of Districts of Sao Paulo at the foot of the article. It would have been nice if you'd had the courtesy to post a message about your intention at the Talk page first. Opbeith (talk) 23:27, 22 January 2011 (UTC)

I thought it was obvious as many of the districts are also subprefectures and bairros. I am expanding the subdivisions of São Paulo, and this creates the need to disambiguate the names so that it is clear if the article is referring to a subprefecture, district, or bairro. Further, many of these names are municipalities and districts in other Brazilian states. This method was mimicked from the Portuguese wikipedia. jsfouche ☽☾Talk 00:19, 23 January 2011 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Science of unitary human beings

The article Science of unitary human beings has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Purely promotional article in support of a non-notable nursing text book.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Xajaso (talk) 21:53, 26 January 2011 (UTC)

  • Contested and de-PRODed. Martha Rogers is one of the pre-eminent nursing theorists, and this theory is taught in every nursing program. The article is clearly not a promotion for the book. jsfouche ☽☾Talk 23:42, 26 January 2011 (UTC)

Palmeiras-Barra Funda Intermodal Terminal

You have a succession template to "preceding" and "following" metro stations, but nothing links back. Is this a metro station or does it just connect to one with another name? Sw2nd (talk) 17:43, 30 January 2011 (UTC)

The metro and CPTM stations are contained with this larger intermodal terminal. The metro and CPTM stations are separate, but linked within this massive building. Does that make sense? jsfouche ☽☾Talk 18:26, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
This is what is not clear. What is the name of the metro station? Sw2nd (talk) 21:47, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
I've found it now. You have two articles about the same facility Palmeiras-Barra Funda Intermodal Terminal and Palmeiras-Barra Funda (São Paulo Metro). That is very confusing since they are not linked in any way, and also show different metro lines, which is why I could not find it. If they are one integrated facility, we only need one article here. GOCE January Backlog elimination drive conclusion

Guild of Copy Editors January 2011 Backlog elimination drive

Greetings from the January 2011 Backlog elimination drive! We have reached the end of the month and the end of another successful drive; thanks to all who participated.

Statistics
  • 54 people signed up for the year's first Backlog elimination drive. Of these, 40 participated.
  • One of our goals was to reduce the size of the backlog by at least 10%. We managed to reduce the backlog by 633 articles, or about 12%.
  • Another goal was to eliminate as many 2009 months as possible from the queue. We eliminated January, February, March, and April—4 out of 12 months is not bad! In addition, we eliminated 37% of all remaining 2009 articles from the queue.
  • Chaosdruid copy edited Kutch Gurjar Kashtriya for 32,711 words, which is the largest single article completed in one of our drives so far. This article counts as six 5000-K articles, and Chaosdruid wins the "most 5000-K articles" leaderboard category. Way to go! A complete list of individual results is here.
Barnstars

If you copy edited at least 4,000 words, you qualify for a barnstar. If you participated in the November 2010 Backlog elimination drive, you may have earned roll-over words (more details can be found here). These roll-over words count as credit towards earning barnstars, except for leaderboard awards. We will be delivering the barnstars within the next couple of weeks.

Thank you for participating in this year's first Backlog elimination drive! We hope to see you in March.

Randomized clinical trial and nursing research

Hi! I am skeptical about your listing "nursing research" as a general category for the article on randomized trials.

There is overlap, but the article of randomized trials is not contained in the real-world category of nursing research, because such trials are also used by dentists (some of whom are not nurses), etc.: Would you please undo your addition?

(I am a fan of nurses, having come from a line of two nurses and having taught nurses statistics. Let me know if I can help in the future.) Thanks!

I think I have cleaned it up. I removed it and then changed "evidence-based medicine" to "evidence-based practice" which encompasses both medicine and nursing, as well as all other fields. jsfouche ☽☾Talk 23:21, 17 February 2011 (UTC)

I am sorry if I have sent this message twice.

Yesterday I added a link to the resource box of the Legal Nurse Consultant page which you removed.

I added the site because it was the only neutral resource I can find about the legal nurse consultant field.

The organizations listed are rumored to be a scam ring of connected sites seeking money from prospective legal nurse consultants including NALNC.org See nalnc.info/.../warrant-issued-for-the-arrest-of-nalnc-operator-and-owner-of-nalnc.org, this LNC group on linked in http://www.linkedin.com/groups/Beware-these-scammers-if-youre-1525047.S.46621055?qid=39344144-dec9-413a-9fce-5d112fba248a&goback=.gmp_1525047 for reference.

The contact information provided on such sites is unverifiable and fake.

I do not think it is fair that you removed the one link that does not ask for money, but provides free resources. I have re-added it and hope you do not remove it again.

Anyabows (talk) 13:43, 3 June 2011 (UTC)

The link is to a website that is designed to tell users how to become a LNC. External links are designed to give more information about a subject, not to tell someone how to "become" something. If the website were designed more about what a LNC does and how the field was developed it would be fine. It is primarily a blog site. For more information about appropriate links, see WP:ELNO. The other links are to professional organizations. I hope that helps explain the difference. jsfouche ☽☾Talk 21:27, 3 June 2011 (UTC)

Reaper, I was disappointed that your support was moved to oppose. I fully grasp the concept of verifiability, but the articles listed on the RfA page were all either stubs or lists. A few of them, I added a reference section, but forgot to add the <ref> tags. The policy on verifiability is essential. The policy itself makes it clear when verifiability is required: "In practice you do not need to attribute everything. This policy requires that all quotations and anything challenged or likely to be challenged be attributed in the form of an inline citation that directly supports the material." While I agree that sources are needed, articles on geographic regions and metro stations are very unlikely to be challenged. I have since corrected the absence of the references. I do hope that you consider that my clean, excellent track record at NPP speaks volumes about my understanding policy. These are the areas that I indicated that I wanted to work with once I become an Admin. At any rate, I appreciate your candor and comments. Cheers!! jsfouche ☽☾Talk 17:47, 5 June 2011 (UTC)
I was sorry to have to remove my support, but all articles must be referenced. I understand that nobody is likely to challenge an unreferenced stub on a metro, but then again, by the same token, anybody could create a hoax article that would also not be challenged. That was what I was referring to when I mentioned violation of WP:V.
That said, I will be happy to support in another couple months if no more unreferenced articles are created and many of the existing ones are fixed. Reaper Eternal (talk) 18:32, 5 June 2011 (UTC)

    • Thanks, guys!! You all are great!! Every time an oppose vote would come in, I got discouraged. • Just take what the opposers said to heart and work on their concerns. If you were able to clean up the articles that people had problems with (either provide references or have them deleted if no references can be found) that will go a long way at your next RfA if you choose to run again (and I think you should). Expanding those articles will also show that you have article space experience. One other concern I saw was about your relatively low contributions to Wikipedia space; while I disagree that you havent had enough, involvement in a project or volunteering at a noticeboard or the reference desk would help. Finally, with the concerns about your lack of experience and that gaffe with the PRODs, time spent productively editing should take care of that. -- Atama 16:39, 7 June 2011 (UTC)

Thank you

Hi Jsfouche. I just wanted to stop by and thank you for your support in my RfA. When I first saw your support rationale, I thought, "uh oh, he meant to support the other guy" and was afraid that would end awkwardly, but you handled it quite gracefully! As a side note, I hope to see you at RfA again in the future; Eagles247 (an editor I have a lot of respect for) has spoken very highly of you, and I have no doubt that you have the skills to address the concerns from the oppose column if you decide to make another go at it. HJ opposed my first RfA too, and ended up co-nomming my second, so I think people are willing to give a fresh assessment after a couple of months. Best, 28bytes (talk) 17:09, 14 June 2011 (UTC)

Hi there, Jsfouche/Archive 3. Just a little request. It seems that Twinkle, quite annoyingly, doesn't mark pages as patrolled even when you tag them for WP:CSD, WP:PROD or WP:AFD. I've just come across an article, that you'd tagged for WP:CSD on the unpatrolled list. I'm sure you already know, but if you scroll down to the bottom of the article, there will be a little link in square brackets that says [mark this page as patrolled]. Clicking that means it'll get taken off the unpatrolled list and so no-one else will come across it on that list. It's not your fault, I know; it's Twinkle's. But until they fix it, it'd be great if you could click that link just before you tag an article. I've marked that one as patrolled. If you didn't find the article via the new pages list then just ignore me; you won't have had the option to mark it as patrolled. Sorry to be a pain. Keep up the good work. Fly by Night (talk) 02:12, 23 June 2011 (UTC)

It seems to be sporadic. TW tells me it is marking it, and sometimes it appears to do so. Have you reported this on the TW page? jsfouche ☽☾Talk 02:15, 23 June 2011 (UTC)

Southern Fried Chicken (franchise) A7

Hi, I have removed the speedy on this article. I'm a bit surprised that anyone might think that the Southern Fried Chicken brand might have no prospect of sources demonstrating significant impact being found, particularly as the article did mention the Channel 4 documentary that featured the franchise at the time when you nominated it. If in doubt, a PROD might be a friendlier alternative. Thanks (talk) 09:06, 3 August 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for the info. Actually, I was surprised that it did not meet CSD. All it says is that it is a chicken restaurant in the UK. The Channel 4 reference was about the CEO. To me, even that does not make a claim of significance. But I respect your interpretation. Thanks again! jsfouche ☽☾Talk 23:02, 3 August 2011 (UTC)

Future Times Post

Hey,

Sorry, I saw that you declined the Future Times stub that I put together. How can I provide further verification of importance? Is it just a matter of citing more sources? A list of releases? I am sympathetic to the cause of keeping out non-relevant information, but we're a fairly popular dance music label. If Woodsist and Sacred Bones -- which are both fairly popular independent record labels -- can have short, to the point, wiki pages, why are we not allowed? I'm happy to add further citations and quotes, if that's what's necessary.

Question about article

Hi Jsfouche, I was going through the list of requested articles on Wikipedia and saw Born Shoes as one of the red links. I just started the article to get it going, but can see that you've flagged it for deletion. Should it not have been on that requested list at all, or is there a way for a re-write so it is valid? Thanks for your help (I'm fairly new to Wikipedia). Stan mact (talk) 06:33, 6 August 2011 (UTC)

Hello! The article, unfortunately, is written like an advertisement. We do not allow articles that appear to advertise something, even if that is not the intent. Also, every article must make a claim about why the subject is important, and these claims must be backed up by multiple reliable sources independent of the subject. Take a look at WP:V, WP:RS, and WP:N. These are some of the core pillars of Wikipedia. Welcome, and happy editing!! jsfouche ☽☾Talk 06:48, 6 August 2011 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Tv Beds

The article Tv Beds has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable product.

In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Kim Carpenter entry

Dear Jsfouche,

Thanks for your response. Unfortunately you haven't given me any idea of what you are looking for. The entry as it stands does address why he is notable and is little different in content to that of his contemporary, Neil Armfield. Perhaps you could be more forthcoming so I can get an idea of what exactly is missing. This is my first wiki entry so I am somewhat flummoxed to have to ask the same question many times to be given the same brief answer no matter who is reviewing it.

Beatnut88 (talk) 06:53, 7 August 2011 (UTC)beatnut88

I replied on the page, but in essence, the article, as it stands, is just a list of accomplishments. In order to be encyclopedic, we need to know why the subject is notable. Explain it. Add references about the person being in the news, etc. A list of accomplishments is more like a résumé. What has this person done to become notable? That's what we need in the article. jsfouche ☽☾Talk 06:59, 7 August 2011 (UTC)

prodding

I am deprodding all articles nominated for deletion on the mere reason they have been unreferenced for X months if they look like topics for which references can be found. Unreferenced is not a reason for deletion; unreferenceable of course is. Nominating multiple articles for deletion on the basis of a rationale not valid under Deletion policy is probably not a good idea. I really respect your work on this nursing, long neglected at Wikipedia. I can understand your impatience at the articles that would need extensive rewriting, especially since you are almost the only person willing to work substantially on these topics. But the solution is to recruit more editors. The interim solution, which I adopt when faced with this sort of situation, is to try to make at least a minimal fix, often by deleting what seems like inappropriate material. I'm doing this to most of the articles I deprod, as I don't think it best practice with such articles to leave all the work to others, I try to fix what I can of at least some of the articles I think need to be fixed and kept--I try not to just say keep or deprod & then ignore them. I cannot fix everything, any more than you can, but this is a cooperative project.

I don't want to oppose you at deletion discussions , considering the good work you are doing. Perhaps you can see it a little my way. DGG ( talk ) 21:53, 17 August 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for your comments. I really appreciate it, as you are one of the most respected editors here. Your words hold a lot of weight with me. Perhaps I was in a bad mood that night. I was trying to clean up some articles, and there were several that had been unreferenced for a long time. I hated having so many nursing articles that were so poorly written, that I was embarrassed. There has not been much activity on the nursing articles. Although probably not the best way, the PRODs were an attempt to recruit some help. It is my experience that deletion processes often get other editors to help with sourcing and editing. For several of the articles, this has been the case, as they have been improved and sourced. I have been focusing on the larger articles that are tagged with higher importance, and I grew frustrated at the number of short, less important articles that were not sourced. After exploring WP space pages more, I believe there are better ways now (like RfC). Again, thank you for the kudos and advice. I take that to heart. Cheers!!! jsfouche ☽☾Talk 01:37, 18 August 2011 (UTC)
Well, you did succeed--you did get some help: my own at least. I don't know how much time i'll have to work on them, but I'll give it some more effort. In practice, I have to admit that listing an article for deletion does often work towards getting it fixed. It's not the official way, but I've done it myself, frequently, According to IAR, whatever improves the encyclopedia is the right way to do it. And there's a negative feeling of hopeless that sets in for all of us when reviewing many bad articles. When I find I'm deleting everything I see at CSD, I know its time to stop for the night. (And that's why I work on multiple fields--at least one will usually be making some progress.) DGG ( talk ) 05:23, 18 August 2011 (UTC)

In any case I was hoping you could take another look and I'm sure you'll see it is a totally different Waretown article. I am open to whatever recommendations you might make. Thanks for contacting me. I have fixed this and moved the article to the mainspace. I originally tried to accept the article, but the system flagged me stating that the article already existed. Hunted page

Hey.

Just wondering why the page for Hunted hasn't been accepted? I realise the reason for not accepting it is due to notoriety but this doesn't make sense as they are signed to the label Massacre Records, and there are many bands on this label's roster on wikipedia that have similar content to that proposed in my article... Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by HuntedUK (talkcontribs) 16:35, 5 December 2011 (UTC)

The reason I declined was not notability, but for references. The references are not reliable. The band's own website and its label's website are not third-party sources. The other source is an online encyclopedia that anyone can edit, which also fails the reliability test. The article needs reliable, third-party sources to pass the requirement. jsfouche ☽☾Talk 23:40, 5 December 2011 (UTC)

Tagging

I would've thought the right thing to do to Ubekibekibekibekistanstan was to tag it for CSD R3, instead of listing it for RfD. --Sp33dyphil ©hatontributions 05:34, 8 January 2012 (UTC)

I considered it, but I do know where the title comes from. It was a gaffe by Cain. I had tagged it as CSD before, then it was recreated as a redirect, so I felt RfD might be a better place to get consensus. I totally agree that it was useless as redirect. Thanks!! jsfouche ☽☾Talk 06:38, 8 January 2012 (UTC)

Bounce House - New Article Revision

Hello,

Thank you for your feedback on my new article contribution "Bounce House". However, I disagree that this information should be listed under "Inflatable Castle". Inflatable castle is a specific bounce house, in a broad area. There are many more bounce houses beyond just inflatable castles. Also, bounce house is a very well- searched term and should really have its own listing.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your feedback.

Regards,

The name has been discussed on Talk:Inflatable castle. It appears the name is very regional, but we cannot create duplicate articles for different names for the same thing. I would suggest that go to that talk page and start a discussion about it there. Happy editing! jsfouche ☽☾Talk 15:03, 8 January 2012 (UTC)

Article on Mufti Ismail Moosa Menk

Hi

You edited my article on Mufti Ismail Moosa Menk , you state i need to add more information on why he should be included on the wiki , however i have added whatever i could find , please advise me with a example on what you mean my more information , as i have read through all the articles and i still don't understand what it is that your looking for . the information you see is all there is about him , he is a Islamic scholar that is well known around the world and some sources are not online nor in the library as he has not done any books as stated by him , he does it for the good and not for profit . the only information on him are on you tube where his channel has many lectures by him touring the world. he is a example and beacon of what is Islam and the reason why i would like to have him on here is because he represent what is real Islam ,not the terrorist induced propaganda that has been put out there. Please review this carefully and i urge you to have a look at his YouTube channel : MufitMenroxs and you will see a man that is propagating a true and peaceful Islam and also removing fears and misconception about it.

Thank You You may message me back on this IP or ssaiyed . — Preceding unsigned comment added by 41.132.14.54 (talk) 18:04, 8 January 2012 (UTC)

PoolWerx Page Deletion Query

Hi Jsfouche,

I am just enquiring as to why the page 'PoolWerx' was put up for Speedy Deletion and removed? The page had previously been deleted and after some alterations was re-posted. The admin Cind.amuse posted the following comment referring to the PoolWerx page:

Just wanted to congratulate you on the work you did with the PoolWerx and John O'Brien (PoolWerx) articles. While they started out a bit rough, you've shown yourself to be a quick study. I appreciate your contributions and hope you decide to stick around! Again, well done! Best regards, Cind.amuse (Cindy) 09:15, 2 December 2011 (UTC)

There have only been very minor adjustments made to the article since the approval from an admin and do not understand how it could possible have been put up for speedy deletion again? If you could please inform me why it was deleted that would be great.

GOCE March drive wrap-up

Guild of Copy Editors March 2012 backlog elimination drive

GOCE March 2012 Backlog Elimination progress graph

Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors March 2012 Backlog elimination drive! This is the most successful drive we have had for quite a while. Here is your end-of-drive wrap-up newsletter.

Participation

Of the 70 people who signed up for this drive, 40 copy-edited at least one article. Thanks to all who participated! Special acknowledgement goes out to Lfstevens, who did over 200 articles, most of them in the last third of the drive, and topped all three leaderboard categories. You're a superstar! Stfg and others have been pre-checking the articles for quality and conformance to Wikipedia guidelines; some have been nominated for deletion or had some preliminary clean-up done to help make the copy-edit process more fun and appealing. Thanks to all who helped get those nasty last few articles out of the target months.

Progress report

During this drive we were successful in eliminating our target months—October, November, and December 2010—from the queue, and have now eliminated all the 2010 articles from our list. We were able to complete 500 articles this month! End-of-drive results and barnstar information can be found here.

When working on the backlog, please keep in mind that there are options other than copy-editing available; some articles may be candidates for deletion, or may not be suitable for copy-editing at this time for other reasons. The {{GOCEreviewed}} tag can be placed on any article you find to be totally uneditable, and you can nominate for deletion any that you discover to be copyright violations or completely unintelligible. If you need help deciding what to do, please contact any of the coordinators.

Thank you for participating in the March 2012 drive! All contributions are appreciated. Our next copy-edit drive will be in May.

Your drive coordinators – Dianna (Talk), Stfg (Talk), and Dank (talk)

If you're interested...

Hello, Jsfouche. My nickname here is Lecen and I usually contribute on articles related to Brazilian 19th century. There are a few editors, including myself, which are trying to bring back from the dead the Wikiproject Brazil. Usually editors interested on Brazil find themselves utterly isolated when contributing here, with no one to rely on. There is no help to review an article we wrote, to share thoughts about an article, to resolve a content dispute, abolutely nothing. We want to change that once and for all. We want to create a place where an editor can feel at home, where he knows there will be others who will do their best to help him anyway they can. If you're itnerested, the first step is to place your name on the list of participants of the Empire of Brazil task force and add it to your watchlist. The task force will be the place where everyoen can talk to each other and where we'll start reviving Wikiproject Brazil. Please, think about it. Regards, --Lecen (talk) 01:42, 14 April 2012 (UTC)

  • I would love to participate!! Thanks for the invite. I will add my name now. jsfouche ☽☾Talk 23:56, 14 April 2012 (UTC)

WikiProject Former countries introduction

Welcome, Jsfouche, to the Former countries WikiProject! You have just become part of an editorial group that focuses on improving Wikipedia's coverage of former country articles. Now that you've joined, the first thing you should do for our cause is add the {{User WPFC}} template to your userpage. Once you have, we will recognize your support with a  Y before your name on the members list!

  • Being an official member of our team now, you really should introduce yourself on the members' talk page.
  • If you have any questions in the meantime, pose them on the WikiProject's talk page. A more experienced WPFC member, perhaps even myself, will respond to any as quickly as possible.
  • Do you consider yourself a very experienced writer of Wiki markup? Let the whole project know by giving yourself a rating from between   and   on the members' list! (5 means more experienced than Jimmy Wales)
  • Still daunted by the layout? Familiarize yourself with the WikiProject by surfing through our Navigation box. You will notice some pretty neat statistics that might actually help you start off with editing.
  • If you're still not ready for anything big, the To do list has some articles that practically need no preparation to begin on. The Infobox maintenance section especially. It's articles like these that are dying for your skills!
  • Is this advice all but too juvenile for you? I understand. It's hard being that talented. Just remember to tag the talk pages of those new articles you've been creating with our project's template {{WPFC}}.
  • Not to bore you again with our talk page, but it is actually where most of our important discussions take place. You may find it useful to watchlist it.
  • Be sure to take care and read any explanations we've posted around the WikiProject about its features. But, most of all, try to get to bed on time. However... if sleep is some thing of the past for you, then, by all means, join one of our subprojects, too!

I welcome and thank you again, Jsfouche, for joining this project,
Sincerely,

Xuxalliope (talk) 18:20, 17 April 2012 (UTC)

GOCE mid-drive newsletter

Guild of Copy Editors September 2012 backlog elimination drive mid-drive newsletter

  • Participation: Out of 37 people signed up for this drive so far, 19 have copy-edited at least one article, about the same as the last drive. If you've signed up but haven't yet copy-edited any articles, every bit helps; if you haven't signed up yet, it's not too late. Join us!
  • Progress report: We're almost on track to meet our targets for the drive. Great work, guys. We have reduced our target group of articles—August, September, and October 2011—by about 44%, and the overall backlog has been reduced by 58 articles so far, to around 2600 articles. The biggest difference between this drive and the previous one is a stronger focus on large articles, so total word counts are still comparable.
  • Don't forget about the Copy Edit of the Month contests! Voting for the August contest has been extended through the end of the month. You don't have to make a submission to vote!

Articles for Creation urgently needs your help!

Articles for Creation is desperately short of reviewers! We are looking for urgent help, from experienced editors, in reviewing submissions in the pending submissions queue. Currently there are 2438 submissions waiting to be reviewed and many help requests at our Help Desk.

Do you have what it takes?
  1. Are you familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines?
  2. Do you know what Wikipedia is and is not?
  3. Do you have a working knowledge of the Manual of Style, particularly article naming conventions?
  4. Can you review submissions based on their individual merits?

If the answer to these questions is yes, then please read the reviewing instructions and donate a little of your time to helping tackle the backlog. You might wish to add {{AFC status}} or {{AfC Defcon}} to your userpage, which will alert you to the number of open submissions.

PS: we have a great AFC helper script at WP:AFCH!

GOCE September 2012 drive wrap-up

Guild of Copy Editors September 2012 backlog elimination drive wrap-up

Participation: Out of 41 people who signed up this drive, 28 copy-edited at least one article. Thanks to all who participated! Final results, including barnstars awarded, are available here.

Progress report: We achieved our primary goal of clearing July, August, September and October 2011 from the backlog. This means that, for the first time since the drives began, the backlog is less than a year. At least 677 tagged articles were copy edited, although 365 new ones were added during the month. The total backlog at the end of the month was 2341 articles, down from 8323 when we started out over two years ago. We completed all 54 requests outstanding before September 2012 as well as eight of those made in September.

Copy Edit of the Month: Voting is now over for the August 2012 competition, and prizes will be issued soon. The September 2012 contest is closed for submissions and open for voting. The October 2012 contest is now open for submissions. Everyone is welcome to submit entries and to vote.

GOCE November 2012 copy edit drive update

Guild of Copy Editors November 2012 backlog elimination drive mid-drive newsletter

  • Participation: Out of 31 people signed up for this drive so far, 22 have copy-edited at least one article. If you've signed up but haven't yet copy-edited any articles, every bit helps; if you haven't signed up yet, it's not too late. Join us!
  • Progress report: We're on track to meet our targets for the drive. We have reduced our target group of articles—November and December 2011—by over 50%, and 34 of the the 56 requests made in September and October this year have already been fulfilled. However, the rate of tagging for copy edit has increased, and this month we are just keeping the size of the backlog stable. So, all you copy editors, please do come along and help us!
  • The September 2012 Copy Edit of the Month Contest was won by Baffle gab1978 for his copy edit of Expulsion of the Acadians. Runner up was Gareth Griffith-Jones for his edit of I Could Fall in Love. Congratulations to both.
  • The October 2012 Copy Edit of the Month Contest is in the discussion and voting stage until midnight November 30 (UTC). You don't have to make a submission to vote!
  • November 2012 Copy Edit of the Month Contest is in the submissions stage until midnight November 30 (UTC), when discussion and voting begin.
  • Seasonal oversight: We had a slight fall from grace in the title of our last newletter, which mentioned the season in the northern hemisphere and thus got it wrong for the southern. Fortunately an observant GOCE member was ready to spring into action to advise us. Thanks! In future we'll stay meteorologically neutral.

  • Progress report: Thus far we have reduced the number of May/June 2012 articles to just 124 articles, so we're on the right track. Unfortunately, for the first time in GOCE history, the number of articles in the backlog has actually gone up during this drive. While all participants are currently doing a fine job, we just don't have as many of them as we have had in the past. We have over 500 editors on our mailing list, but only 18 editors who have done a copy edit for the drive. If you're receiving this newsletter, it's because you have an interest in copy editing. Join the drive! Even if you only copy edit one article, it helps. Imagine how much progress we could make if everyone chipped in just one article.

Guild of Copy Editors March 2012 backlog elimination drive update

GOCE March 2012 Backlog Elimination progress graphs

Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors March 2012 Backlog elimination drive! Here's the mid-drive newsletter.

Participation: We have had 58 people sign up for this drive so far, which compares favorably with our last drive, and 27 have copy-edited at least one article. If you have signed up but have not yet copy-edited any articles, please consider doing so. Every bit helps! If you haven't signed up yet, it's not too late. Join us!

Progress report: Our target of completing the 2010 articles has almost been reached, with only 56 remaining of the 194 we had at the start of the drive. The last ones are always the most difficult, so thank you if you are able to help copy-edit any of the remaining articles. We have reduced the total backlog by 163 articles so far.

Special thanks: Special thanks to Stfg, who has been going through the backlog and doing some preliminary vetting of the articles—removing copyright violations, doing initial clean-up, and nominating some for deletion. This work has helped make the drive a more pleasant experience for all our volunteers.

I think an article could be made about these laws, but this is barely a stub. Can we give the creator a few more days? I am prodding this instead. Bearian (talk) 23:20, 16 December 2013 (UTC)

That was odd. I was on the AfC site tagging old one for G13. Not sure how this happened. Did you move the article to main space after I tagged for G13? I am OK with it, just trying to figure out what happened. jsfouche ☽☾Talk 23:34, 16 December 2013 (UTC)
No, you are right, it was an AfC, and tagged for speedy deletion. I removed some tags, moved it to main space, and placed it in the "proposed deletion" cycle. That gives Wikipedia:Wikiproject Law and whomever else a week to fix it. Bearian (talk) 23:40, 16 December 2013 (UTC)
OK. Thanks. Just wanted to make sure I didn't screw up and tag G13 on a mainspace article! jsfouche ☽☾Talk 23:43, 16 December 2013 (UTC)

vibroacoustic stimulation

content was wrong - vibroacoustic stimulation is vibroacoustic therapy... content existed was talking about fetal vibroacoustic stimulation... I corrected it now... vibroacoustic stimulation posted was correct - do not delete it... Cyrinus (talk) 03:09, 8 December 2013 (UTC)

You could not correct the mistake in your definition, but you made a sneaky attempt - which is vandalism of the VAT article and harassment. There is no meta or sock puppetry. It is contribution from all vibroacoustic therapists. Global effort. Anyway - I will fix your VAS article. Cyrinus (talk) 18:17, 14 December 2013 (UTC)
It's not my article. Which is a point you obviously keep missing. No one owns articles here. Let me just say one last thing to you, your shitty attitude will only serve to alienate you here on Wikipedia. You have ignored so many other editor's attempts of good faith to educate you and provide assistance. Those attempts are constantly met with cynicism, contempt, arrogance, and just plain old bad manners. You really should have listened to the advice given by others so that you could become a valuable editor here on the project. Instead, you get pissed off and have chosen to repeatedly harass and vilify everyone who has tried to help you. You see every attempt to provide feedback as an attack instead of an offer of help and the application of community standards and guidelines. This is a community of editors, and those who decide they will ignore etiquette and rules because they do not fit their agenda will not survive. I can only hope that at some point you come to your senses and realize that this is an encyclopedia and not a method of getting the word out about a particular topic. You made it clear that you and other therapists will not be ignored, so that makes it blatantly obvious that your goal is not to contribute to knowledge, but to promote a specific topic at all expenses. I wish you luck in your professional endeavors, and may you one day become a valuable editor here. Take care, jsfouche ☽☾Talk 20:13, 14 December 2013 (UTC)
  • I am aware of that - you edited that article as a perinatal nurse - I am very familiar with perinatal field for more than 10 years - your edit was wrong. Stop bullying new users. You even got a note from Bureaucrat. Stop your Sherlock Holmes, paranoia and sneaky activities on new users. Most of the comments were not helpful for new user or contribution to correct the article. I read the guidelines. Most of the comments were not productive or guiding a new user - On top of that name calling - no wonder. Even in this post - "cynicism, contempt, arrogance, and just plain old bad manners" - name calling. I am simply answering and posting my references. I will edit the article and improve it. If you can contribute and help - fine. Stop your harassment or bullying tactics... Read your user page (exact opposite)... I do not need your blessing for my professional endeavors and I do not believe in luck - been there - done that (including your perinatal at much higher level) - retired. My goal is to contribute... not promotion or canvassing... I do not need wiki for my promotion... We have so many other ways on the Internet and social networks... lol Cyrinus (talk) 04:24, 15 December 2013 (UTC)
  • There you go again. Such arrogance. That is like the 5th or 6th time you have said that you and only you are an expert. You told Uncle Mitty that "Anyone can be an audio engineer. There are experts and wannabes." when he mentioned his expertise as an audio engineer. Then your above comment to me "been there - done that (including your perinatal at much higher level)". And then somehow you are a perinatal expert as well and told me I was wrong. And your repeated calling of Wiki Admins and editors as "idiots." It is a pattern of clear Megalomania. You repeatedly tell us all that we are not VAT experts so we should just shut up and move on and keep to what we know. Wikipedia does not work like that. If you cannot accept that, then I suggest it is you that needs to take your pompous, arrogant, over-inflated sense of self-importance and move on. This is not a stage for experts to showcase their research and promote their craft. It is an encyclopedia. jsfouche ☽☾Talk 17:59, 15 December 2013 (UTC)
  • Simply - Same to You! Happy Holidays!!! Cyrinus (talk) 05:16, 16 December 2013 (UTC)
  • Oh dear! Thanks for your patience jsfouche! In my experience, few things bring more attention to fringe articles more quickly than a single-issue POV editor with a persecution complex. --Salimfadhley (talk) 13:53, 16 December 2013 (UTC)
  • Oh dear! uncle jeff is a good man. I irritated him by changing VAS article which was closer to his heart (VAS and VAT closer to my heart too). uncle will bring more babies to the world in 2014 (and new babies to wiki too)... yes we need to fix that VAS definition - FVAS sounds like giving stimulation to pregnant woman - it should be a stimulation to fetus. I will correct it with latest research - which is good for wiki. i removed the offending thread on google plus. thanks for all the help... uncle have a happy holidays! GOCE December 2013 Blitz wrap-up and January Drive invitation

December Notes from the Guild of Copy Editors

The December blitz ran from December 8–14. The theme for this blitz was articles tied in some way to religion. Seven editors knocked out 20 articles over the course of the week. Our next blitz will be in February, with a theme to be determined. Feel free to make theme suggestions at the Guild talk page!

The January 2014 Backlog elimination drive is a month-long effort to reduce the size of the copy edit backlog. The drive begins on January 1 at 00:00 (UTC) and ends on January 31 at 23:59 (UTC). Our goals are to copy edit all articles tagged in October and November 2012 and complete all requests placed before the end of 2013. Barnstars will be awarded to anyone who copy edits at least one article, and special awards will be given to the top five in the following categories: "Number of articles", "Number of words", "Number of articles of over 5,000 words", "Number of articles tagged in October and November 2012", and "Longest article". We hope to see you there!

Coordinator election: Voting is open for candidates to serve as GOCE coordinators from 1 January through 30 June 2014. Voting will run until the end of December. For complete information, please have a look at the election page.

Hello!

Hi Jsfouche! I've been trawling my watchlist. You might see that I made this change to your article: "Navbox name = Medical research studies". This name isn't displayed anywhere, and is used when you click the small 'e' button on the template, so changing the name will change what page you're editing when you click 'edit'. Other than that, I hope that you're well and enjoying the festive season! Kind regards, --LT910001 (talk) 04:40, 24 December 2013 (UTC)

Northeast region, Brazil reverted edit

You reverted an edit of mine in that article, an article you have not previously edited in recent history. You gave no reason, and my edit was still in process. I saved part of an edit, because it was a long edit, and I wanted to make sure my draft work got saved in case of computer malfunction. The purpose of the edit was to break an unordere4d long list of dozens of items into categories like Arts & Letters etc. It was a reasonable and good faith edit. What is your explanation? If you disagree with the nature of the edit change, please discuss your objections on the articles talk page. If you reverted the edit for some other reason, what is the explanation?Sbalfour (talk) 16:31, 12 January 2014 (UTC)

I have reverted my edit. It was not possible to tell that it was "in progress". To prevent this type of mistake, I'd suggest using your sandbox to do the edits, and when you have it how you want, copy and paste it into the article. This way, other editors do not see incomplete work and think it was an error. No harm was meant, but what was left on the page removed some content without explanation. That was the reason for the revert. jsfouche ☽☾Talk 16:50, 12 January 2014 (UTC)
I did modify some of the bullet items, which is a list, to shorten the description following the name to no more than 2 lines. This article is not about biography - if someone wants to know about the listed person, they can follow the wikilink to the named biographical article. If there is no such article in the wiki, they can help wikipedia by creating it, and transfer the biographical info to that article. I did not lose any whole bullet items, i.e. names.
This list is an unordered list, whose inclusion criteria is undefined. It has become a list of trivia, and it should be structured in some way, as well as shortened, according to some recognizable criteria. For now, I'm leaving all names in it, until I can define those criteria. I'm going to be revamping the whole article, as I have time. If you have any suggestions, please include them on the talk page under the appropriate section(s), where I have extensive commentary. Regards, Sbalfour (talk) 19:48, 12 January 2014 (UTC)

Controversy regarding health psychology and occupational health psychology

I observed that you have made many thoughtful edits in related fields. I wondered if you could weigh on some controversies that bear on both health psychology and occupational health psychology. Thank you. Iss246 (talk) 19:09, 15 January 2014 (UTC)

Hello can you give me some advice?

I edited a page yesterday and you removed it along with another entry on the page. It appears from the note that the problem was the external links. Is that the case? If I put the entry back without the external link would that be acceptable? I am fairly new at editing and there is a lot to learn. I did read the link document before I included the link. Apparently I didn't understand it completely. Would it be OK to put both the entries back if they didn't contain the links? Would that violate any wikipedia etiquette? Also am I using the talk page correctly? Thanks for your help Slamslam102 (talk) 17:08, 22 January 2014 (UTC)

I havent heard form you so I am using your comments from when you removed the content and assume the links were the problem. I am going to put the material back in without the links. If there's something other than the links that is the issue, please let me know. Slamslam102 (talk) 19:35, 24 January 2014 (UTC)

Halla_Diyab#Syrian_refugees_controversy

hi, Im contacting you regarding the entry u originally reviewed at [1] I have added some information to the Syrian_refugees_controversy section. the information was sourced and references were given. however it appears that the subject of the entry "i.e., Dr Diyab managed to delete that contribution, making use of the fact that there were indeed some vandalism acts on the page following the controversy. however i see that deleting the addition i made is well and truly unjustified. Feedback needed on using special characters

Hello. Thank you for using VisualEditor! Having editors use it is the best way for the Wikimedia Foundation to develop it into the best tool it can be.

While we always welcome general feedback (please report any issues in Bugzilla in the "VisualEditor" product or drop your feedback on the central feedback page on MediaWiki.org), the developers are especially interested right now in feedback on the special character inserter. This new tool is used for inserting special characters (including symbols like , IPA pronunciation symbols, mathematics symbols, and characters with diacritics). It is intended to help people whose computers do not have good character inserters. For example, many Mac users prefer to use the extensive "Special Characters..." tool present at the bottom of the Edit menu in all applications or to learn the keyboard shortcuts for characters like ñ and ü.

The current version of the special characters tool in VisualEditor is very simple and very basic. It will be getting a lot of work in the coming weeks and months. It does not contain very many character sets at this time. (The specific character sets can be customized at each Wikipedia, so that each project could have a local version with the characters it wants.) But the developers want your ideas at this early stage about ways that the overall concept could be improved. I would appreciate your input on this question, so please try out the character inserter and tell me what changes to the design would (or would not!) best work for you.

The "insert" pulldown on the task bar of VisualEditor will lead you to the '⧼visualeditor-specialcharacterinspector-title⧽' tool.

This is the ⧼visualeditor-specialcharacterinspector-title⧽ inserter as it appears on many wikis. (Some may have customized it.) Your feedback on this tool is particularly important.

Issues you might consider:

  • How often do you normally use Wikipedia's character inserters?
  • Which character sets are useful to you? Should it include all 18 of the character sets provided in the wikitext editor's newer toolbar at the English Wikipedia, the 10 present in the older editor toolbar, or some other combination of character sets?
  • How many special characters would you like to see at one time?
    • Should there be a "priority" or "favorites" section for the 10 or 12 characters that most editors need most often? Is it okay if you need an extra click to go beyond the limited priority set?
    • How should the sections be split up? Should they be nested? Ordered?
    • How should the sections be navigated? Should there be a drop-down? A nested menu?
  • The wikitext editor has never included many symbols and characters, like and . Do you find that you need these missing characters? If the character inserter in VisualEditor includes hundreds or thousands of special characters, will it be overwhelming? How will you find the character you want? What should be done for users without enough space to display more than a few dozen characters?
  • Should the character inserter be statically available until dismissed? Should it hover near the mouse? Should it go away on every selection or 10 seconds after a selection with no subsequent ones?
  • Some people believe that the toolbar already has too many options—how would you simplify it?

The developers are open to any thoughts on how the special character inserter can best be developed, even if this requires significant changes. Please leave your views on the central feedback page, or, if you'd prefer, you can contact me directly on my talk page. It would be really helpful if you can tell me how frequently you need to use special characters in your typical editing and what languages or other special characters are important to you.

Thank you again for your work with VisualEditor and for any feedback you can provide. I really do appreciate it.

P.S. You might be interested in the current ideas about improving citations, too. Whatamidoing (WMF) (talk) 00:20, 18 February 2014 (UTC)

GRU page template

Thanks for the offer of help on the GRU talk page! I certainly don't want to undertake such a thing alone, especially considering I try to loop in as many involved editors as possible in my work to keep things safe. I can go ahead and create the History of GHSU page now, and then my sandbox will have the first college page template and the beginning of the second page, if you'd like to stop by and offer feedback. I also haven't the slightest clue how to create a template like the one on the Georgia Tech page, so anything you'd like to offer would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! Proposed deletion of Helvie energy theory of nursing and health

The article Helvie energy theory of nursing and health has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable "theory" with no significant coverage in RS.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. GOCE coordinator elections

Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors

Candidate nominations for Guild coordinators to serve from January 1 to June 30, 2015, are currently underway. The nomination period will close at 23:59 on December 15 (UTC), after which voting will commence until 23:59 on December 31, 2014. Self-nominations are welcomed. Please consider getting involved; it's your Guild and it won't coordinate itself, so if you'd like to help coordinate Guild activities we'd love to hear from you.

Cheers from your GOCE coordinators Jonesey95, Baffle gab1978, and Miniapolis.

Drive: Thanks to everyone who participated in November's Backlog Elimination Drive. Of the 43 people who signed up for this drive, 26 copy edited at least one article. Final results, including barnstars awarded, are available here.

Progress report: The November Drive removed 26 requests from the Requests page and 509 articles from the {{copy edit}} backlog. We copy edited 83 articles tagged in the target months; July, August, and September 2013. Together with tag removals from articles unsuitable for copy editing, we eliminated July 2013 from the backlog and reduced August and September's tags to 61 and 70 respectively. As of 01:01, 1 December 2014 (UTC), the backlog stood at 1,974 articles, dipping below 2,000 for the first time in the Guild's history (see graph at right). Well done everyone!

Blitz: The December Blitz will run from December 14–20 and will focus on articles related to Religion, in recognition of this month's religious holidays in much of the English-speaking world. Awards will be given out to everyone who copy edits at least one of the target articles. Sign up here!

Election time again: The election of coordinators to serve from 1 January to 30 June 2015 is now underway. Candidates can nominate themselves or others from December 01, 00:01 (UTC), until December 15, 23:59. The voting period will run from December 16, 00:01 (UTC), until December 31, 23:59. You can read about coordinators' duties here. Please consider getting involved and remember to cast you vote—it's your Guild and it doesn't organize itself!

Thank you all once again for your participation; we wouldn't be able to achieve anything without you! Cheers from your GOCE coordinators Jonesey95, Baffle gab1978, and Miniapolis.
