Speedy deletion nomination of Eric Agyeman-Prempeh edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Eric Agyeman-Prempeh requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Page mover granted edit

Hello, Crosstemplejay. Your account has been granted the "extendedmover" user right, either following a request for it or demonstrating familiarity with working with article names and moving pages. You are now able to rename pages without leaving behind a redirect, and move subpages when moving the parent page(s).

Please take a moment to review Wikipedia:Page mover for more information on this user right, especially the criteria for moving pages without leaving redirect. Please remember to follow post-move cleanup procedures and make link corrections where necessary, including broken double-redirects when suppressredirect is used. This can be done using Special:WhatLinksHere. It is also very important that no one else be allowed to access your account, so you should consider taking a few moments to secure your password. As with all user rights, be aware that if abused, or used in controversial ways without consensus, your page mover status can be revoked.

Useful links:

If you do not want the page mover right anymore, just let me know, and I'll remove it. Thank you, and happy editing! Callanecc (talkcontribslogs) 10:20, 24 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

New Page Reviewer granted edit

Hello Crosstemplejay. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers" user group, allowing you to review new pages and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or in some cases, tag them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is a vital function for policing the quality of the encylopedia, if you have not already done so, you must read the new tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the various deletion criteria. If you need more help or wish to discuss the process, please join or start a thread at page reviewer talk.

  • URGENT: Please consider helping get the huge backlog down to a manageable number of pages as soon as possible.
  • Be nice to new users - they are often not aware of doing anything wrong.
  • You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted - be formal and polite in your approach to them too, even if they are not.
  • Don't review a page if you are not sure what to do. Just leave it for another reviewer.
  • Remember that quality is quintessential to good patrolling. Take your time to patrol each article, there is no rush. Use the message feature and offer basic advice.

The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In case of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, the right can be revoked at any time by an administrator. Callanecc (talkcontribslogs) 01:05, 25 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I'm not sure what you're thinking with this edit. The publisher is not the author. You are also using too many template lines. Here are the standard lines to use for your newspaper articles:
<ref>{{cite web |url=(URL)|title=(Title of article)|last=(last name of AUTHOR, if any)|first=(first name of AUTHOR, if any)|date=(date)|work=(name of newspaper, including Wikilink, if any)}}</ref>
If something is authored by a news agency like Associated Press, you would put that under "|author=" rather than "|first=" and "|last=", but in no case would you put the publisher's name under author. Also, please stop using the "website=" line.
Since I just spent a lot of time reformatting all the references for Margaret Amoakohene, I'll leave it to you to fix this article. Best, Yoninah (talk) 21:53, 18 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hi, thanks for the new alts. In re-reviewing the article, I did some copyediting on it and would like to point out a few things: The link for a Ghanaian person is Ghanaian people, not Ghanaian. Cites should only be in the lead if the information is controversial; in this case, I moved all the cites out of the lead. Titles and subjects of study should not be uppercase. The {{Authority control}} template should be added to the end of all biographical articles.
The reference formatting in most of the footnotes looks very strange. When writing "Ghanaian News Canada" as author, for example, you should use the "author=" template line rather than "first1=", "last1=" template lines. This also applies to the author line in footnotes 1, 2, 3, 9, 12, 13. It's unclear who the author is in footnotes 4, 5, 6, 11. Yoninah (talk) 16:30, 16 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

I see you recently created these two categories. Unfortunately, they duplicated categories that already existed, Category:People from Western Region (Ghana) and Category:People from Central Region (Ghana). I have redirected them and moved their members. When you create new categories:

  1. Please be very careful not to create a category that already exists with a different name. If you think an existing category has the wrong name, you can WP:MOVE it or start a discussion at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion about renaming it; simply creating a new category next to it it never the right solution.
  2. Please place your new categories in appropriate parent categories. I only found these categories because they were listed on a special maintenance page here.

I see you've been editing Wikipedia for quite a while, so I'm dismayed to see these kinds of mistakes. I know you weren't trying to make a mess, but please, please be more careful. A review of WP:CAT might be a good idea. —swpbT 14:39, 28 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

Kojo Armah edit

Hi, I just want to point out a few loose ends. When you insert the title of an article into the citation template, why is it coming out with hyphens, the same way the URL comes out? I made a lot of fixes to your references. Also, why are you rating each article as B-class? If it doesn't have a picture, its rating will not be that high. And FYI, there is no "|importance=" rating in WikiProject Biography, just in the other Wikiprojects. Best, Yoninah (talk) 23:58, 30 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

Help with Kosmos Energy edit

Hi Crosstemplejay, I'm looking for editors who might be interesting in helping expand the article for Kosmos Energy; as you might be aware, Kosmos discovered the Jubilee Oil Field, and the company has made some other significant discoveries in the last few years, but the Wikipedia article for the company is still very short. To help build out the page, I've been working on a draft and have been proposing chunks of it via the Kosmos Talk page, starting with the infobox and now moving on to an all-new proposed Operations section. Since you've edited the article for the Jubilee Oil Field and you're also a member of WikiProjects related to countries where Komos operates, I wondered if you'd be able to take a look at my draft and edit request? In full disclosure: I have a financial COI, since I'm proposing the updates on behalf of Kosmos Energy via their PR company Ogilvy, as part of my work for Beutler Ink. As I don't edit directly, I'm hoping an impartial editor will review, provide feedback and / or make the edits if everything looks ok. Thanks in advance! 16912 Rhiannon (Talk · COI) 21:01, 18 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

Observations noted edit

Your observations have been noted concerning the DYK nomination of Edric Norfolk Vaux Morisset and the sentence has been reworded. As this is my first DYK nomination, Quid pro quo is not necessary. Kindly help me add Dippiljemmy to the credit as he started the article, I only approved it for AfC.

DYK for Kwesi Yankah edit

On 10 December 2017, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Kwesi Yankah, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Ghanaian academic Kwesi Yankah wrote the title song for the Free SHS policy? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Kwesi Yankah. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Kwesi Yankah), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.
