Study Wikipedia policy

Wikipedia has a sizable set of policies and guidelines that you do not appear to be aware of. It is not a free place to get your message out to the world but an well organized project that supports volunteers in building an encyclopedia and the rules are there for that reason. I imagine it is frustrating to be blocked from participating in the project, especially if participation is related to your job, but I think you will have more success in getting unblocked if you start by becoming very familiar with the policies and guidelines before asserting your value to the project. For example, it appears that you attempted to avoid your block by starting a new account (User:Vshrikanth) with which you continued in behavior that violated policy on promotional content. You probably were unaware that it was a serious violation of policy to do that. Rather than charging ahead with claims of being useful to the project, I think your chances would be much better if you showed some signs of having studied the policies and guidelines in which you are now seriously entangled. Here are some articles that might help you figure out how things work and perhaps how to extract yourself from the mess you're in (assuming that's possible at this point):

If you have any questions, please post them here or on my talk page. Jojalozzo 16:28, 6 February 2012 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Larsen & Toubro

Hello Shrikanthv. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Larsen & Toubro, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: needs clean up, not deletion. Thank you. SmartSE (talk) 20:48, 6 February 2012 (UTC)

Trying to get articles on your competitors deleted is still only a promotion a your company's interests and thus violates WP:Conflict of interest. If the goal of your edits is not the betterment of Wikipedia then I have to ask you to stop editing entirely. This is not helpful.
Amalthea 20:57, 6 February 2012 (UTC)
Hello please do not misunderstand , i do not know who is whoes competitor and have no intention to part with any one, i was simply trying to remove self promoting advertisments and nothing else. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shrikanthv (talkcontribs) 11:44, 7 February 2012 (UTC)
OK. Both companies produce electronics, when you marked them for deletion it appeared self-evident that you were still motivated by promoting your company's interests.
Nonetheless, if you have concerns with similar pages, I would strongly advise you to bring them to me or any other administrator next time. Amalthea 12:27, 7 February 2012 (UTC)

Please do not add commentary or your own personal analysis to Wikipedia articles, as you did to Upanishads. Doing so violates Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy and breaches the formal tone expected in an encyclopedia. Thank you. Ian.thomson (talk) 13:17, 7 February 2012 (UTC)

In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You could also click on the signature button   or   located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment.   Please refrain from abusing warning or blocking templates, as you did to User talk:Ian.thomson. Doing so is a violation of Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Please use the user warnings sandbox for any tests you may want to do, or take a look at our introduction page to learn more about contributing to the encyclopedia. Ian.thomson (talk) 14:53, 13 February 2012 (UTC)

Also, please demonstrate on Talk:Upanishads how the information in the article does not match the sources cited. Simply tagging after previously unbalancing gives the impression you are acting with an agenda. Ian.thomson (talk) 14:53, 13 February 2012 (UTC)

Collaborating

I see you are engaged in a conflict at Upanishads. Editors who have difficulty working collegially will eventually lose the privilege of editing entirely and I think you may be at risk in that way. I think you may be able to avoid most of these conflicts by using the article talk pages more and asking more questions instead of asserting your position. Try asking why something is be said a certain way rather than just editing it the way you want it. I also advise against using any of the article deletion or rating tools until you are more familiar with them. Abusing them is also going to contribute to a reputation for disruptive editing. Jojalozzo 15:23, 13 February 2012 (UTC)

I hope you will see my advice as helpful. You have started out editing Wikipedia very aggressively and I do not think your confrontational approach is going to achieve the results you wish for, on the contrary it's likely to get you banned permanently from the project. Wikipedia is not a place where editors own ideas or needs take priority. I think you can see how aggressive debate is reflected back to you in kind and I think that if you attempt a more humble approach in the future you will not only generate more cooperation but also more willingness in others to explain the how and why of current article content and to listen to your ideas for how and why we might improve it. I advise you to ask questions in a respectful manner rather than making accusations or stating blanket objections. Do your best to show good faith that others are attempting to develop an encyclopedia that is fair and accurate just as you are. Jojalozzo 16:31, 14 February 2012 (UTC)

Removing content at Variable-frequency drive

I understand that you object to the removal of information you posted to Variable-frequency drive about specific products. If you think there is good reason to keep that content then you need to make that argument on the article's talk page. To remove other content on specific products is most likely going to bring administrative action against you and will do nothing to restore the content that you are interested in. I recommend you undo your recent deletions as a sign of your good faith in our community processes, then go to the talk page and post your arguments either for restoring the content you wish to see on the page or for deleting the content you do not think belongs there. Braking chopper Good Article nomination

Hi Shrikanthv. I regret to inform you that I have failed your GA nomination of Braking chopper. See the review page for advice on what needs fixing. You might want to review the good article criteria and possibly think of sending an article or two to peer review until you get the hang of what is expected. I notice you have other articles nominated. DC injection braking is also a long way from being a Good article and has many of the same problems as Braking Chopper. Variable-frequency drive is better, but still needs quite a bit of work (short lead, overciting, misplaced citations). Don't be discouraged, getting a Good article can be difficult. white people/black people

Hi Shrikanthv - the other editor has now gone ahead and created what appear to be two new WP:POVFORK pages, White (skin color) and Black (skin color). Much of the material is basically just a copy and paste of what he previously added to the "black people" and "white people" articles and argued for in the rfc.

Note the intros:

  • "The terms white or light-skinned are used as social descriptions for humans who have light-coloured skin[1] or are marked by the slight pigmentation of the skin.[2][3]"
  • "The terms black or dark-skinned as descriptions for people are used to describe various population groups having dark pigmentation of the skin relative to other lighter-skinned groups represented in a particular social context.[1][2] The term describes belonging to or denoting any human group having dark-coloured skin[3][4][5] The term is specifically used for dark-skinned peoples of Africa, Australia, and Oceania but the general definition of the term "black" extends to any humans characterized by dark skin[6]."

It is literally the same skin color-based classification scheme that he has been arguing for all along on the respective articles. This is despite the reached consensus that the "white" and "black" social constructs are independent of skin color and are to be discussed on the "white people" and "black people" articles, respectively; the biology of human skin coloration would likewise be dealt with separately. It unfortunately doesn't end there, though, because he has also apparently created a Template:Skin colors, where he links to these fork pages. I have commented on this latest development on the rfc. When and if you have the time, your thoughts on the matter would be greatly appreciated. Kind regards Soupforone (talk) 19:34, 12 August 2012 (UTC)

Please do not be disheartened

Nominating Devita Saraf as an article for deletion was a sensible thing to do. You have serious doubts about the article and this is a key place to get a community consensus about your doubts vs the article's validity or otherwise. I'd very much like to have been able to agree with your nomination and support you. But that is an emotional thing. I find the article to be distasteful. But it is, technically, an article about a person whose notability is sufficient to merit an article. I think the article we have at present ought not to be the form the eventual article takes. I have already pruned some dead wood from it.

For the future keep your enthusiasm and sense of fair play in the forefront of your mind. And do something wise with this AfD: Treat it as a fire and forget missile. It will either hit the target or not. Move ahead with something else and let it do what it will do unaided by further input from you. Fiddle Faddle (talk) 22:23, 23 August 2012 (UTC)

Sreelakshmi Suresh

If you seriously believe me to have a WP:COI with the article, then you need to put that forward through WP:ANI, and openly accuse me -- at which point I would be happy to defend myself. You, however, can't simply go to an article and undo an editors contributions on speculation with no proof and assume that is okay. If you did any searching, you would see that I belong to several Canadian Wikipedia projects and edit heavily on a wide range of Western topics. Sreelakshmi Suresh is the only India-related and tech-related article I regularly edit as part of my long history defending its rights per WP:GNG in 2007.

Per WP:VANDAL, you need to be very careful when accusing someone of "vandalism" as you did in your edit summary. Know that I am an established editor in good standing as long as 2006 with over 10,000 edits. Assume good faith when dealing with other established editors. If you accuse me of vandalism, and truly believe that I am a vandal, then we need to take this also to ANI. I take vandalism accusations very seriously. Mkdwtalk 21:06, 10 September 2012 (UTC)

Would like to add a few lines here. To Shrikanthv - Though the story of the girl (Sreelakshmi Suresh) shows the un-ethical way of boosting and promoting a normal girl without any exceptional skills, and the media blindly post news articles about her, according to the Wikipedia Notability Rules, the article deserve a place here. I was behind this for long but now I understand the way the system works and the rules. The much heated up AFD that we had few days back (4th nomination for deletion) also helped us to edit the article by many people in a pretty good manner and to make it pretty neat. Only two points get importance in the Wikipedia article now, that is she is a web designer and that she won the 'National Child Award for Exceptional Achievement 2008'. For the latest edit made by Mkdw, I do not think he violated any rules or it is vandalism. What he added is, the girl is a web designer and she got some media attention - which is actually true.

Adoption

Hi Shrikanthv. As I mentioned in my brief note on Saturday, I've be very happy to adopt you and help you naviagate the waters of Wikipedia. I see from looking over your contributions that you've already been involved in a number of areas, particularly deletion processes, which is good to see.

I tend to be a rather hands-off mentor - I will look over your edits every now and then and raise anything I think was done particularly well, or that could have been handled differently; and I'll happily answer any questions you have - but if you'd prefer a more structured, task orientated approach I can do that instead; just let me know. It would help me to know what sort of areas you'd specifically like to edit in, and what you think you need the most help with; I can then tailor my approach accordingly.

I'm looking forward to working with you and helping you make Wikipedia better! Yunshui  06:48, 17 September 2012 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: India?

Hello Shrikanthv. Just to let you know, this article does not meet our criteria for speedy deletion. Please be sure you are familiar with the criteria before tagging Thanks. Paul Erik (talk)(contribs) 17:36, 20 September 2012 (UTC)

Rachana Shah continued... again

Hi Shrikanthv. I've also !voted to delete the article at the AfD discussion. Your analysis of the sources is pretty accurate. However, the main issue is not the verifiability of the text - for the most part, the sources do verify what's said in the article. Verification is separate from notability, and that's where the article fails the inclusion criteria - because Mrs Shah has not received significant coverage in multiple, reliable, independent sources, she doesn't meet the basic notability requirements.

The distinction between the two is important - verifiability, while a core policy, doesn't govern which subjects get articles written about them. It's possible to have an article, like this one, where everything in the text is verifiable and yet the article as a whole should still be deleted. Notability is the criteria for a subject to be included, verifiability is the criteria for information about that subject to be included. In other words, WP:N says who and what we write about, WP:V says what we write about them.

I hope that makes some sense! Yunshui  07:16, 21 September 2012 (UTC)

Deletion

Hi Shrikanthv. I've had a glance over your recent contributions, and I'm seeing a lot of work in the area of deletion. That's not a problem - I spend a great deal of my own wiki-time working in CSD, so it's good that we have a shared "interest" - but you seem to have a relatively high rate of misses, with a lot of your CSD tags being declined for one reason or another. Reading through the deletion policy again is always a good idea, but you might also find this essay of mine a helpful (and more concise!) read.

Since you use Twinkle, it might be helpful for both of us if you created a CSD log to keep track of your nominations. To do this, go to the Twinkle preferences panel and near the bottom of the Speedy Deletion section, tick the box labelled "Keep a log in userspace of all CSD nominations". This will create the subpage User:Shrikanthv/CSD log, and every time you place a CSD tag, Twinkle will automatically keep a record on that page. Mine, for example, is here: User:Yunshui/CSD log.

If you think it would be helpful, I can spend some time devising a short test for you to help you towards a better understanding of the CSD criteria; let me know if you'd like this. Otherwise, feel free to ask me if you're thinking about tagging a page for deletion but aren't sure whether it meets the criteria. Cheers, Yunshui  07:32, 24 September 2012 (UTC)

thank you Mr Yunshi, created csd log (CSD is really a stress buster for me). yes i can see i need a test may be for tagging csd , as some of educational institute were tagged before, so would be really great. and thanks for all the help Shrikanthv (talk) 16:12, 24 September 2012 (UTC)
Okay, have a crack at this CSD test, then. Let me know when you're done and I'll review. Yunshui  13:35, 25 September 2012 (UTC)
Some more work needed here. I've marked the answers you gave - for the incorrect ones, I've left some more information to point you in the right direction. Have another go at the ones marked with  N. Yunshui  02:37, 26 September 2012 (UTC)
Definite improvments: 7/10. Your two main problems seem to be a tendency to overuse G11 - it's only for pages that clearly exist only to promote their subject - and an over-keenness to apply the CSD tags. Remember, no-one's forcing you to make a decision on whether or not to list an article for deletion; if you're at all unsure, just leave it alone. I regularly come across CSDs that I'm not certain of - in such cases, rather than deleting them and hoping for the best, I leave them for another admin to look at. If you have any doubts, just move on to something else; there are lots of other editors here who can make the choice instead! Yunshui  10:58, 8 October 2012 (UTC)

Shrikanthv, Please read the Sanjay Pugalia entry in light of it most recent changes, which includes a notability statement, better organization, further citation, and new material. File permission problem with File:Janaseva vidya kendra.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Janaseva vidya kendra.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Jezebel'sPonyobons mots 23:30, 27 September 2012 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined at Jolly P Joy

In fairness, you can't access the previously deleted version of this page, so you weren't to know that it was substantially different (it is, trust me). However, it would have been worth taking note of the sources and considering whether the article in its present state merited deletion, especially since an AfD had already been started. Just because an article has been deleted via AfD before doesn't necessarily mean that the subject isn't worth having an article on at all. Yunshui  12:15, 8 October 2012 (UTC)

I had started myself the AFD but while doing i found it was deleted before so thought it was matching G4 , if this is not G4 then what kind of articles are G4 ? Shrikanthv (talk) 12:57, 8 October 2012 (UTC)
G4 applies specifically to cases where the recreated article is basically the same as the deleted one. The problem is that there's no real way for non-admins to know whether that's actually the case; you have to read the deletion discussion and try to extrapolate what the article must have looked like. In this case, the original article had one (poor) reference, and so deletion was the natural result - the recreation has a lot more information and a number of additional references. That said, your AfD was still a sensible thing to do, there are a number problems with the page that need addressing. Yunshui  13:03, 8 October 2012 (UTC)

More on speedy deletions

Hi Shrikanthv. Following a couple of your recent CSD nominations, I thought I'd introduce you to a couple of useful rules of thumb regarding the use of CSD tags.

  • If an article has sources - any sources - think twice about applying A7. Usually, the presence of sources at least suggests the topic is notable, and a suggestion is all that's needed to negate A7. The same applies if the content suggests notability, but there are no sources at all.
  • Not every page that's about a company or product is advertising. G11 is only for unambiguous promotion: if the page seems to exist purely to say how great its subject is, that's unambiguous. If it seems to be there primarily to provide information, it's not a G11 candidate. The acid test is: does it look like it belongs on their CV/website? If so, you can probably G11 it.

Hope that helps make things a little clearer. Yunshui  10:25, 10 October 2012 (UTC)

SPI investigation

Hi Shrikanthv. Just for future reference, when you file a report at SPI you don't need to append "User:" in front of the suspects' usernames. The syntax used at SPI adds that automatically, so when you link to User:Jollypjoy the software will be looking for User:User:Jollypjoy, an account which doesn't exist. I've fixed the formatting for you, so the investigation is now at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Jollypjoy. I haven't commented on the investigation myself, but your evidence looks fairly sound. Yunshui  08:32, 11 October 2012 (UTC)

Thank you Mr Yunshui, nothing against the new user. but wanted to try out the WP:SPI procedure and how it works Shrikanthv (talk) 08:46, 11 October 2012 (UTC)
I'm going to assume something got lost in the translation there; you aren't presumably saying that you started an SPI for no other reason than to see how the process worked? Yunshui  08:50, 11 October 2012 (UTC)
Nope, meant am learning the procedure for WP:SPI and definitly trying to remove sockpuppets Shrikanthv (talk) 08:54, 11 October 2012 (UTC)
That's what I thought, thanks for clarifying. Yunshui  08:57, 11 October 2012 (UTC)

Contesting your A7

Hi Shrikanthv! Just to let you know I wrote a paragraph contesting your A7 on Talk:Akhil Bharat Nepali Ekta Samaj. I admire your motivation overall. By the way, there is a fun project called Check Wikipedia, have you tried it? It tells you what to fix where, a great way to be very useful to Wikipedia. I use it (and similar fixup tools) a lot myself too :-) Cheers! Nicolas1981 (talk) 08:52, 11 October 2012 (UTC)

Speedy deletions again

I have had to decline many of your speedy deletion tags today, with many of the articles involved being nowhere close to meeting the criteria. This is one example, where you tagged an article as not indicating importance or significance when it said that the subject was the mayor of a major city and a member of a state legislature. You will find many other examples in your contribution history.

Please refrain from tagging any more articles for speedy deletion until you have familiarised yourself with the criteria at WP:CSD. Phil Bridger (talk) 09:30, 11 October 2012 (UTC)

Hello Mr phil, I went through the reference link, it never mentions he was mayor of Madras (chennai know) and is stating the name only ones and not even the full name ( only Sivasankar Mehta and not Ramanatha Sivasankar Mehta )the article is portraying. so was really skeptical on the self professed as mayor . did a CSD , yes i accept your suggestion , i will be more carefull from now on.Shrikanthv (talk) 10:39, 11 October 2012 (UTC)
No comment on the above article (I haven't looked at it yet), but after Phil's request above I do think you need a bit more help with CSDs. To that end, I've created this quiz to test your understanding. Complete it at your leisure, and let me know when you're finished; I'm also quite happy for you to ask me for clarification or help with any of the questions. Cheers, Yunshui  10:45, 11 October 2012 (UTC)
One thing that you need to understand is that to get past WP:CSD#A7 an article only has to have a claim of importance or significance. It doesn't have to prove it with references. Phil Bridger (talk) 11:34, 11 October 2012 (UTC)
what to do if significance stated is false and found out through reading reference. (e.g shrikanth mayor of New york from 1956-59 article) Shrikanthv (talk) 07:03, 12 October 2012 (UTC)
I say that still counts as a claim to notability (just because the reference provided doesn't support the statement doesn't mean that other sources which do support it don't exist somewhere), however most admins would accept that as deletable under G3 (blatant hoax). A PROD or AFD would also be acceptable (a good example of such an AFD is currently at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Deziree Ramirez). Yunshui  07:09, 12 October 2012 (UTC)

A friendly suggestion

Hi Shrikanthv. I'd like to offer you a suggestion, based on the recent issues you've been having with CSD and other deletion processes. Since you started editing a couple of months ago, the vast majority of your edits have been concerned with deletions - CSD, AFD and PRODs have accounted for most of your work here. There's nothing wrong with that - I actually spend most of my own time on Wikipedia deleting things that shouldn't be here - but you seem to have struggled with many of the nuances of the deletion policy, and it's brought you into conflict with other editors as a result.

Might I suggest that you change your focus, at least temporarily, to another aspect of Wikipedia? One of the reasons I'm comfortable around deletion work is because I've also spent a lot of time creating articles, which means that I've become very familiar with the various policies covering content. You might find it useful, not to mention rewarding, to try your hand at creating some pages from scratch; it's very satisfying and will hugely improve your accuracy in deletion tagging.

Ideas for content creation are everywhere (check out my essay on the subject for some pointers) - start by trying to create a basic stub, then maybe set yourself the goal of getting an article onto the main page via the Did you know? process. If you need help at any stage, from choosing a notable topic to promoting something to Featured article status, please ask me; I'll be more than happy to help. All the best, Yunshui  09:53, 12 October 2012 (UTC)

Thanks Mr Yunshui, (After small wiki break , iam back again ). I agree with you there seems to be lot of bad atmosphere to go in deleting articles , so i will start back my article creation way Shrikanthv (talk) 08:23, 26 October 2012 (UTC)
Good to have you back. I'd suggest you get together an article in your sandbox - on whatever topic you fancy - and then drop me a note so that I can review it with you. Good luck, and enjoy - article creation can be quite a fun process! Yunshui  08:26, 26 October 2012 (UTC)

Black people

Greetings Shrikanthv; there is a user on the black people article who has sought to include some of the material that was deemed offtopic in the recent rfc discussion. Specifically, text and an image on Australian Aborigines as "black people" [2]. I've tried explaining to and quoting for him what the community's decision was but to little effect. If it's not any trouble, could you perhaps clarify for him what exactly was the general consensus? It should only take a minute or two. Declined speed deletion, and final warning

I have just declined your speedy deletion request on Arunava Sen. Winning a major prize like the Infosys Prize is clearly a claim of importance. I'm not certain it's enough to pass our notability guidelines for biographical articles, but it's clearly more than enough to pass A7. A lot of editors above have told you that you're simply not understanding speedy deletions. At this point, I'm explicitly telling you that you may no longer tag articles for speedy deletion--if you do, I will block you. Your errors not only cause extra work for administrators, but can easily drive away a new contributor who feels de-valued because their work was nominated for speedy deletion. This is disruptive and damaging to the encyclopedia as a whole. Perhaps if you can seek some formal mentorship from some of the people above (if they'll have you), and they're willing to guide you through the process for quite a while, you could maybe return to this in the future. Qwyrxian (talk) 09:54, 26 November 2012 (UTC)

Also, while you're at it, be careful with other deletion techniques as well. You tagged Baputty Haji (it used to be spelled differently) with a WP:BLPPROD, but the infobox and article text clearly state he died 9 years ago; as such, you can't use BLPPROD. Speedy deletion declined: Minimolude Achan

Hello Shrikanthv. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Minimolude Achan, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: article is about a film, not a person, so A7 does not apply. Thank you. JohnCD (talk) 10:31, 10 December 2012 (UTC)

GA review!

I have reverted your Swami Vivekananda GA nomination! Did you make any edit there or are you aware of current status? --Tito Dutta (talk) 10:39, 17 December 2012 (UTC)

Alright then, so you came from INT, I have wrote a detailed reply there! Nothing to apologize! You tried to help! (I did not see your INT post) If you see GA Review 1, there was only one issue- close paraphrasing in some paragraphs, which is still unsolved. So, you can guess the consequences if we go forward without solving the previous (only) issue. And there were (are) some CN tags which I have been fixing and some works on references are to be done! --Tito Dutta (talk) 10:50, 17 December 2012 (UTC)
About this edit, we are using Harvnb style citation, so please use that format! --Tito Dutta (talk) 11:03, 17 December 2012 (UTC)
Where is page number and URL? location also incorrect, that has been already sourced in body so, ref in lead not necessary! Please self revert! --Tito Dutta (talk) 11:05, 17 December 2012 (UTC)

The article is just started, you can help here! You can use cite book template. How are you preparing Google Books citation? Manually? --Tito Dutta (talk) 11:10, 17 December 2012 (UTC)

FAR

I undid your request for GA Reassessment because we can go for FAR straight away. GAR will take time and even to stand a outside chance of making it to Jan 12th we have to nominate the article for FA now. I am waiting for Dwaipayan's comments on the article. You nominated it again? See #GA review!. What are you tying to do? Don't to take quick decisions. If you are not a primary contributor of an article (which you are obviously not), discuss with primary contributor first and propose in Talk page. --Tito Dutta (talk) 13:39, 18 December 2012 (UTC)
I think we can't keep going back and forth between various talk pages, it's leading to a communication gap. Let's take all our FA talk to Tito's talk page. Correct Knowledge«৳alk» 13:46, 18 December 2012 (UTC)

Question

Greetings Shrikanthv! The rfc on the black people page has almost reached an end. However, there's one last matter that I was hoping you could perhaps help clarify. Australian Aborigines and many South Asians apparently "share many cultural, linguistic, physical and genetic features" [3]. Given this, do you think it's consistent to exclude one and not the other? Please advise. kind regards -- Soupforone (talk) 23:01, 18 December 2012 (UTC)

Notice! (For undiscussed approaches)

This is a clear notice. Stop random jumping what you have been doing. Your GA nomination of Swami Vivekananda was reverted twice in last 2 days which could be a good lesson to you. But, you failed to learn anything from it and have nominated it for FA today. You have done nothing in that article and cared to say no one that you were going to nominate. At least I'll not withdraw the nomination and going to co-operate there (I'll see what others say) just because I want to see the article on the main page on 12 January. Reply in this talk page. --Tito Dutta (talk) 15:08, 19 December 2012 (UTC)

Shrikanth, your edits to incorporate Yunshui's suggestions into the article are praiseworthy, but you should have dropped Tito a message at User talk:Titodutta#Swami Vivekananda FAR before nominating the article. I don't think we need to undo the nomination this time. It's about time we went for the FAR anyway. Dwaipayan and others can make their final edits in the next 12 hours or so, after which the article should be ready. Just don't drop a note at WT:IN or advertise the FAR in any other way as yet. Sri Aurobindo GA

Hi Shrikanthv, I see you've edited Sri Aurobindo. I've checked the article, and it needs some work before it can proceed to GA. I've put it on hold to allow time for this. Would you be able to co-ordinate this work? I can try other editors but since you probably know them already, it might be best if you did it. Please let me know what you decide. All the best Chiswick Chap (talk) 17:19, 30 December 2012 (UTC)

Hi, I see you're at work on the article. I invited some other editors with no immediate result, but it is a holiday period.

On references, two things. a) if you are using the same one several times (like the Sketch from the ashram), then you should use [1] the first time, and [1] (by itself) all subsequent times, so only one ref appears at the end of the article, with multiple usages listed. This avoids misleading readers and keeps the article tidy; makes it easy to reuse common sources, too. b) it's a bit flaky using Ashram sources as these are not independent; it may be all right to establish details of fact, but if other sources are available that would be better. Chiswick Chap (talk) 21:21, 1 January 2013 (UTC)

Ah, and you have three different references all with the title "The Mother" - I think you should distinguish these in some way, if indeed better sources for all of them can't be found. Chiswick Chap (talk) 21:24, 1 January 2013 (UTC)

Deletions

Hi Shrikanthv. I've had a complaint from Tito Dutta on my talkpage regarding your recent deletion nominations, and I have to say, I agree with his concerns. Your use of the {{BLPPROD}} template is simply incorrect - any independent, reliable source negates the use of this template, even if it doesn't satisy the requirements for notability or substantial coverage - and your multiple AFD nominations with the blanket reason "Does not meet wiki notablity criteria" are bordering on disruptive, even if they do result in deletion of the articles concerned.

You've consistently run into problems with Wikipedia's deletion policy - I seem to recall that the very first issues I had to address with you all stemmed from incorrect CSD tagging - and it's reached a point now where I'm concerned that you're going to get yourself into trouble with it. As a result, I'm asking you to voluntarily refrain from nominating any page for deletion, via any method (CSD, PROD, BLPPROD or AFD), for a minimum of three months - during that time, we'll work on your understanding of the deletion policy and how it applies. You're welcome (encouraged, in fact) to comment on existing AFDs, since this will help show your understanding of the relevent policies, but please don't start any yourself. There is plenty more to do on Wikipedia (I see that you're getting the hang of article editing and using references, which is excellent), and once I'm convinced that you have a thorough understanding of the deletion policy I'd be happy for you to get involved in that field again. For now, though, please hold off on making any more nominations. If you come across a page that you feel strongly should be deleted, please ask me first (or another experienced editor if I'm not available) before doing anything with it.

Feel free to drop me a line on my talkpage if you have any questions. Yunshui  09:50, 31 December 2012 (UTC)

Gross misunderstanding of BLP PROD bordering upon vandalism

I have chosen to treat your nomination of Jonathan Goodwin (entrepreneur) as a BLPPROD as a simple error. I could easily have interpreted it as vandalism. Please take this is a vandalism warning, but level zero. I have removed your notice. It was placed on an ill formatted and poor article, but on one where references exist. MIsuse of templates in this manner does, after it has been brought to your attention, constitute vandalism. Although outside the formal warning process, please take this as a serious warning over your editing behaviour. Fiddle Faddle (talk) 14:31, 31 December 2012 (UTC)

Hi , yes i think it was an error, please have look at the above talks , currently i will not be involved in deletion tags for next three months. and will only start after guidence from my mentor Shrikanthv (talk) 21:28, 1 January 2013 (UTC)

A wise and public spirited move, thank you. Fiddle Faddle (talk) 22:09, 1 January 2013 (UTC)

Your AfD nominations

Shrikanthji, is it not time that you removed your Afd nominations on A Guide to Human Conduct and Yogic Treatments and Natural Remedies? --Abhidevananda (talk) 01:46, 3 January 2013 (UTC)

And some time for revisiting those two Vivekananda books nominations too? --Tito Dutta (talk) 12:27, 3 January 2013 (UTC)

Shrikanthv after your proposal for deletion I've expanded Yogic Treatments and Natural Remedies's article inserting new academic/scientific sources to highlight the clear article's encyclopedic value. I think you can now remove the AFD nomination. Thanks--Cornelius383 (talk) 02:45, 4 January 2013 (UTC)

Shrikanthv, It seems to me that there are other AfD nominations which require you to withdraw them. Please do not delay. This mess requires your work to clear it up. Be assiduous in performing that task, please. Fiddle Faddle (talk) 12:35, 4 January 2013 (UTC)
I've closed Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Swami Vivekananda: Messiah of Resurgent India as Keep, but Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Life And Philosophy Of Swami Vivekananda remains open - there are no policy-based arguments for keeping it, so I will only close it if you withdraw the nomination. Yunshui  12:45, 4 January 2013 (UTC)
On closer examination, I've actually undone my own closure of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Swami Vivekananda: Messiah of Resurgent India - there are no sufficient arguments for keeping it at present. Again, if you withdraw the nomination, I'm happy to close it. Yunshui  12:49, 4 January 2013 (UTC)
Cheers for the withdrawal notices, both AFDs now closed. Yunshui  13:07, 4 January 2013 (UTC)

Some good words!

Some wise people told– Only he has a right to criticize who has a hand to help
So, your AFDs were not too bad in comparison to your BLPPRODs and that should not create any problem for you if I forget few minor issues:

# Issue Comment Is this a major error for a new editor if they don't follow it?
1 WP:BEFORE Show in your rationale that you have followed it No, but, they should try to learn/follow it once they are told about this.
2 Copy paste/very brief rationale Write your rationale in details, like I have searched in Google which returned only NN results, most of those are trifles. I have also searched in Google News and Google Books. Only "this" newspaper mentions it but there it is not a primary topic. So, I am not convinced that this film/book/person is notable No, but, they should try to learn/follow it once they are told about this.
3 Judge your points Judge your own points before presenting. For example in a discussion you asked about newspaper review. The book was published in 1995. And Indian digital news archive don't go back to that time. So, it may not be helpful to search such reviews in world wide web.
Another example, if it is an article about 1955 Indian politician of any state, don't expect to get too many results in Google.
Tips: 1) One good thing might be search in relevant sites (if this is a film, search in IMDb, Bollywood Hungama etc 2) search in Google's local language (if the topic is of any other language and you know that language, for example Pritilata Waddedar, search in Bengali and you'll get thousands of results) 3) Tweak your search queries (example: a) "Only book name" b) "Book name author" c) "Book name year" d) Book name reviews" e) "Alternative spelling of book name".....
BIG no, I am not going to blame any new editor if they make such mistake.

That shows, not a single issue above is a very big issue at this moment. That's all! I often wonder why I write such long posts...--Tito Dutta (talk) 13:26, 4 January 2013 (UTC)

Also, you can read Wikipedia:Arguments to avoid in deletion discussions which is a very handy guide! --Tito Dutta (talk) 13:45, 4 January 2013 (UTC)

Hi Shrikanthv. I don't know whether you've retired from Wikipedia entirely or if you're still knocking around as a reader - either way, you haven't edited anything for the last three months, and so I think it's probably sensible to bring our adoption arrangement to an end. Chandan Dasgupta

Hello Shrikanth, I propose to remove the "delete" tag from this article. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Chandan_Dasgupta#Chandan_Dasgupta It may require clean-up, but certainly not deletion.

BLPPROD

Welcome back. I notice that you've been placing a lot of BLPPPROD tags recently, and I'm afraid you have been doing so incorrectly. Please read the BLPPROD policy, which clearly states that if an article contains any sources (regardless of whether they meet the reliable sources guideline or not) it cannot be tagged for deletion via this method. You struggled with deletion issues last year and clearly still have a lot to learn about correct deletion tagging; I would strongly suggest that you avoid doing any work in deletion tagging for the time being. Your GA nomination of Sri Aurobindo

Hi there, I'm pleased to inform you that I've begun reviewing the article Sri Aurobindo you nominated for GA-status according to the criteria.   This process may take up to 7 days. Just a note, if an editor removes a proposed deletion tag, even if the removal is not accompanied by a reason for removal, the deletion is considered contested and that article is ineligible for proposed deletion from that point forward. The only exception would be where removal of a tag was done as a clear act of vandalism or blanking the page, or if the editor removing the tag was violating a ban in the process. If you or another editor wish to see this article deleted, please consider bringing it to articles for deletion, thank you. -- Atama 22:12, 21 March 2014 (UTC)

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Sri Aurobindo may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "{}"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

List of unpaired brackets remaining on the page:

Aam Aadmi Party

You have reverted four of my small edits with existing citation saying "Please state the sources and discuss in talk page before addition. (TW)". I have reinstated my edits, can you please review my changes and confirm that they are not-sourced and violating Wikipedia guidelines? I believe that I need not create a discussion in Talk Page for these one-word or one-sentence edits sourced from the existing citation.

Saved Edit summary text: The citation mentions Karnataka only.

I changed "certain states" to "Karnataka".

Saved Edit summary text: Without the date the sentence seems to imply that it was a direct consequence of Hazare request that he stopped the fast. On the other hand Kejriwal himself has not said it was the deciding factor. He continued to fast for another 7 days. The citation is present, I added the date " on March 29 ".

Appended "Rs 220 crore" to "driven by subsidy". Citation is present.

Saved Edit summary text: Changed to maintain neutral point of view. The earlier statement sent a message that Jung was being dictatorial whereas he was only saying that it has to follow Transaction of Business Rules (TBR), 2002. The Law Ministry backed. The citation is present.

Take it to the article talk page. The pair of you discussing it here means nothing. - Sitush (talk) 16:05, 1 April 2014 (UTC)
But Sitush this is just my question to this particular editor, I do not want to discuss with other editors or on the article talk page. My argument is merely that the reason given by this editor to revert my edits are not correct in my opinion and he should justify it -- the onus of proving his statement is his. I noticed you have also bulk reverted all four of my edits. And your comment is "Too much detial, unnecessary acronyms and ignorance of WP:MOSDATE". It clearly does not have too much detail. Unnecessary acronym is for "Rs", if you could tell me how to correct that I can do it from the next time. I will read up WP:MOSDATE. I am not taking this to the article talk page. I will not make these edits again without a consensus. It is pretty discouraging to have even one word edits reverted and having to take it to Article Talk page instead of having a conversation with the editor. Jyoti (talk) 16:27, 1 April 2014 (UTC)

Thank you for trying to keep Wikipedia free of vandalism. However, one or more edits you labeled as vandalism, such as the edit at Bangalore, are not considered vandalism under Wikipedia policy. Wikipedia has a stricter definition of the word "vandalism" than common usage, and mislabeling edits as vandalism can discourage editors. Please read Wikipedia:NOTVAND for more information on what is and is not considered vandalism. Thank you. NeilN talk to me 14:55, 1 April 2014 (UTC)

What did i remove from the Narendra Modi page? Tri400 (talk) 16:04, 5 April 2014 (UTC)

Hi, I have merged your original entry sub-headed NEWS to another main section headed Merged entry on a specific news incident. However, no alterations have been made to the original post and replies. Talk:Arvind_Kejriwal#Merged_entry_on_a_specific_news_incident

You have deleted the page Katikala Siva Bhagya Rao. The man runs an NGO offering free services to over 22000 backward caste people in Andhra Pradesh, India. The work this man does may not reach the elite media because all his work is in the villages at the grass root level. The man needs commendation and a wiki page is the least one can do for him. I also have given newspaper articles about his service work. The language could have been more simplistic, agreed. But certainly isn't 'instant delete' worthy. Whilst, movie stars with mere 1,2 movies have wiki articles, why should a government servant who spend the last three decades in helping people through his NGO not deserve a wiki page? Can you please help me put up this page again. -- Hunking Hunk

Deletion

Okay, this needs to stop. Whilst occasionally you make a good call on articles which need to be deleted, the signal-to-noise ratio is so low that it verges on the disruptive. This isn't a new development, either; since you started here, you have demonstrated consistently poor judgement in the application of CSD, PROD, BLPPROD and AFD tags, and the last month or so has shown that there has been little improvement in this area. I'm therefore, regretfully, laying down a final warning: if you make another inappropriate deletion request, via any deletion mechanism, I or another administrator may block your account without warning. This has gone on for far too long - turn your attention to other areas of Wikipedia (I know you were looking at GA recently) and leave the whole sphere of deletion alone. I'm sorry it's come to this, but enough is enough. Yunshui  08:14, 9 April 2014 (UTC)

I take your Advice Yunshui, will give up deletion handling until you ask me back into it , & let me create something good from now on .. (do I have to take back my current AFD's ? , do let me know ) , yes finally got a GA for article but had to rework again with senior editor to keep it that way Shrikanthv (talk) 08:23, 9 April 2014 (UTC)
There's no need to withdraw the AFDs you've already done unless the !voting is entirely against you (if anyone else has !voted for deletion, the discussion should be allowed to run for the full week). Let me know if you need any help with article creation. If you do happen across something that's incontrovertibly deletable (don't go looking for it!), please feel free to ask me for a second opinion - I'd rather not block you if I don't have to! Aurobindo

Hi, regarding the GA delisting of Sri Aurobindo, you say that there was no consensus for it. WP:CONSENSUSis not a vote but rather a decision based on assessment of arguments that in turn are based on policy compliance. Even you have said that the article has many faults, and others (including me) have said the same. It is not GA standard & I think it will take quite a bit of work to make it so. - Sitush (talk) 23:22, 8 June 2014 (UTC)

I happened to click on the article and was surprised to see his birth name three times in the infobox, but the article name not once. Is there a reason I might understand? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 18:48, 14 October 2014 (UTC)

Sri Aurobindo finally made it! Congratulations - all that hard work finally paid off. Yunshui  09:06, 31 October 2014 (UTC)
Congratulations from your GA reviewer. I am pleased to see the article so much improved. I am sure you will have noticed that there is still room for improvement beyond the GA criteria; I have listed some of these areas at the end of the GA review. Be aware that many editors believe that GA status requires perfect formatting of citations: the fact that the criteria quite plainly state that this is not a requirement is easily overlooked. Editors are of course quite right to push for references to be tidy and well-organised, and it will probably save you trouble if you take time to tidy these up further. After that, I am sure that further development of the Influence and Reception sections will prove interesting and productive, and will certainly make the article stronger. All the best, Chiswick Chap (talk) 09:20, 31 October 2014 (UTC)
Of course, no article is perfect. Congratulations Shrikanthv! Bladesmulti (talk) 10:19, 31 October 2014 (UTC)

Hi

I replied to your discussion here: [4]. Thanks for reporting the file, but WP:AFD was the wrong process. I tagged it as orphaned fair use. If you think it is copyvio/incorrect source you should tag for that additionally, using WP:CSD:F3, F7 or F9, and given the history of the uploader I have to say that seems likely to be the case. If you need help, let me know, but I only come here once a week or so now, so might not reply immediately. Cheers. Begoontalk 18:17, 14 November 2014 (UTC)

Canvassing

Hello Shrikanthv, It appears that you have been canvassing users to participate in your AfD for saffron terror. You should note that there are guidelines for WP:Canvassing, which you are expected to follow. If you do not follow them, all the votes that you have canvassed will be in danger of being discounted. Cheers, Kautilya3 (talk) 11:58, 12 December 2014 (UTC)

@Kautilya3: read the policy you are heavily mistaken. But if you are convinced report to WP:ANI, beware of WP:BOOMERANG though. Cheers! --AmritasyaPutraT 12:15, 12 December 2014 (UTC)
Hi Kautilya, note my comments it is not biased and does not carry any remote influence nor indirect suggestive measure of what has to be done , if this was the criteria and I even posted in Indian community for involvement and does not carry an ounce of suggestion on what has to be done. Shrikanthv (talk) 12:17, 12 December 2014 (UTC)
The guidelines are quite strict: "The audience must not be selected on the basis of their opinions—for example, if notices are sent to editors who previously supported deleting an article, then identical notices should be sent to those who supported keeping it. Do not send notices to too many users, and do not send messages to users who have asked not to receive them." I thought I should let you know. That is all. Cheers, Kautilya3 (talk) 13:14, 12 December 2014 (UTC)

again please read by clicking on the link here wp:tagbomb, and I have not reverted you Shrikanthv (talk) 09:05, 19 December 2014 (UTC)
Yes you did and I reverted it back. I am not tag bombing because each and every tag is valid. Tag bombing is only valid when the tags are not valid. Show how the tags you removed are not valid. One by one. Speedy Climber (talk) 10:20, 19 December 2014 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) (Comment from uninvolved editor) Can I just say that yes, WP:TAGBOMB mostly applies to adding a load of irrelevant tags to a page, but it's not recommended that you add a load of tags to a page even if they all are relevant, as you would want the biggest problems with the page to get the most attention. I'm going to watch Patu Keswani and maybe sometime I can improve it, so then most of the tags can be removed. Regards, --AmaryllisGardener talk 14:18, 19 December 2014 (UTC)
Maybe it's not recommended, but that's doesn't mean it's not allowed. Anyway, I see that you took care of two of the tags correctly - which is what I wanted to see. Speedy Climber (talk) 00:35, 20 December 2014 (UTC)

I;ve had to decline two of your speedy deletions. The criterion for deleting via A7 is no indication of any plausible significance or importance. This is a much looser requirement than for actual notability. A substantial public career is an indication of significance, even if it does not met WP:N. Buddhism

Hi Shrikanthv. I don't know if you read my response at my talkpage; I'll copy ithere, and add some more.

"Thanks for your comment on the Buddhist influence on the Mandukya Karika. You're a fair man. The point of departure between Buddhism and Vedanta may be the "motionlessness" of the Absolute. You know this comparison with a moving wheel, and the center which is motionless (I guess you do, since you grew up in Indian culture, and I'm only a reader)? The Absolute, Brahman, Nirvana, is the center. Vedanta sees it as absolutely motionless, while Buddhism emphasises the constructed nature of everything - no absolutes. Or at least, that's what modern Buddhism says. Please read Pre-sectarian Buddhism#Schayer - Precanonical Buddhism, and then tell me how different Buddhism is from Vedanta, or how different it has been made to be from Vedanta."

Also recommended, as a follow-up: Buddha-nature, especially Buddha-nature#Mahāparinirvāṇa Sūtra. Following some of Blades' diffs on Thigle, I also read a comment by Thigle that Mahayana was the "original Buddhism", and Abhidharmic Buddhism was a later development. I don't know if that's correct, but after reading those two sections mentioned above, you tell me: if this was "the original Buddhism", how different is it from Vedanta? I'd say: not. It was highly surprising for me to realize this, and I still don't know if it is correct; but it's amazing. And take note: I'm not writing here that Vedanta is not different from (Mahayana) Buddhism, I'm writing that this "oldest Buddhism", if the info is correct, is hardly different from Vedanta. Best regards, Joshua Jonathan -Let's talk! 07:34, 13 March 2015 (UTC)

You may also be interested in this site Zennist. This guy is also arguing that the oldest Buddhism did adhere to some sort of atman, and that Buddhism can't be understood without such an idea. Quote:

"To get down to business, citta is the past participle of √CIT which means "the animating principle of life" (V.S. Apte, The Student's Sanskrit-English Dictionary, p. 208). Western Buddhist scholars are still not here. Citta is too mystical, perhaps. They are still regarding citta as ‘thought’ in the example of bodhi-citta, meaning the “thought of enlightenment.” But in truth, bodhicitta means the animating principle of life that has awakened to itself. Formerly, it was a sleep; under the spell of its phenomena. As Buddha, it has self-awakened. There is nothing higher than this awakening to the very substance of life. When we think of such Buddhist terms as unborn Mind, pure Mind, one Mind, unconditioned Mind, etc., such terms are describing the animating principle of life which has awakened to itself."

Now, Atman/Brahman originally also meant something like the animating principle, didn't it? "Brahm", to grow, to expand. The contemporary English translation of "satcitananda" as "being-consciousness-bliss" may be too simple, losing very important nuances; "consciousness" may be too simple a translation, as if "it" is just a "thing", an object. Food for thought here... Best regards, Joshua Jonathan -Let's talk! 09:09, 13 March 2015 (UTC)

JJ, nice that i come to know, that you are not just staying at the crust , (you have to note that all the above discussion and my talking below are still mind trying to throw its Javelin as far as possible, and we are not talking at the cross section where Buddha achieved Buddha hood),

now on our topic: there is tendencies in Indian Buddhists and Vedantists for ascetism and this has twisted , turned the truths according to its requirement. the same spirit of ascetism (either Buddhistic & Vedantic) considers only one part of the equation "the one without a second" (vedantins ) or as you mentioned "absolutes" (buddhism) but the other part "all is Brahman" as been termed as illusion (maya, Karma) or adopted to the meaning of the first one.(not nullyfying vedantins totally but expanding on the missing part),

Note as you mention above wheel with Nirvana, the absolute or " absolutes" as you term it in the centre, giving a simili let us say you have never seen a ocean , suddenly you see a ocean and at first sight see waves comming at great heights out of it and now declare "ha the ocean is a turbulant entity" now you go near it and go inside it (below into ocean depths) and meet a person who is in perfect peace and declares "ocean is actually at perfect peace, the waves are illusion a mere construction"(vedantins) and the other guy says "their is neither" (buddhist)

"all is Brahman ?"

yes we can go to the depths and be with consciousness of the one "unborn" "pure mind" "awakened to itself" or towards "absolutes"and surely there is nothing beyond it, but terming it or the construction which has come out of it, as an illusion is half part of the story.

(continuing your last sentences) there were two parts before veda"anta" from veda "the path of knowledge" = "Vedanta" and "path of ananda" = "Tantra" or vama marga (not to be confused with tantric traditions of buddhism nor with other derated practises ..), in Tantra focus shifts to prakriti or the pouring of atman into energy, there is action, creation, the ananda of becoming ..... you were right in qouting the difference between vedanta & Buddhisim but as you see above there is much comming Shrikanthv (talk) 12:37, 13 March 2015 (UTC)

Nice what you say on tantra, action. You know, I've got a small statue of Shiva since I was a student. it's always standing near the side of my bed. It touches me, for the movement which is in there, dancing, the Absolute ever-changing - maybe like 'not graspable in words, and yet, we 'get it. Hillhouse Capital

Hi. I noticed you tagged an article that I edited which says that this article has "multiple issues." I am a little new to wikipedia, and I hope you can point out to me what changes I need to make in order to meet the standards of wikipedia to avoid the "close connection" tag, the "original research" tag, and the "notability" tag. Perhaps these tags don't have anything to do with my edits, but the edits that came before me? since the article was up since January, and I only made my first edits in March, can it be that the problems are from previous edits that came before mine? If that is the case, I am ready to change those edits too, in order to improve the article to meet wikipedia quality standards. I really appreciate your help. the article in question is: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hillhouse_Capital_Group. thanks again.Jiminycricket55 (talk) 06:46, 9 April 2015 (UTC)

Reverting to old contents

So if you gonna revert back to old contents independent of whether the added changes or contents has merit or not then what's the point of contributing ??? So I came back to contribute to Wikipedia but now I feel like why should I ?? Ksubburaj (talk) 16:19, 23 June 2015 (UTC)

Hi, Nice that you wanted to talk, please note that for a single topic there could be numerous point of view, and just like yourself there would be many who would like to contribute, can it happen that there could be difference on what is right! ? , so usually we have talk page where we can discuss this and sort it out. please note politics related article are one of the worst case scenario for this. Karnataka

Sir, as per the law of the land, no state in india can have state flag. It is only Jammu and Kashmir that is presently having a state flag as per Article 370. The Government doesn't allow or there is no such provision that allows state to have separate flag. its unconstitutional.

Karnataka has no official state flag, and the flag in the article is not an official one. Its a cultural "Kannada Flag" Source:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kannada_flag http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/bengaluru/ampnbspNo-state-flag-for-Karnatakaampnbsp/articleshow/11000220.cms?

Hope the sources are enough proof, and hence its not viable to put the kannada flag as the state flag in the Wiki Article. Qwerty3594 (talk) 14:15, 24 June 2015 (UTC)

The case for the article on the Indian given name article titled "Vishwajeet"

The name Henry has an entire Wikipedia page, as it is a notable given name of English origin. Similarly there are hundreds of notable given names of Indian origin that have their own page (such as Rahul, Soumya, Abhishek, etc.).

Please refer to the following wikipedia pages for further evidence of popular Indian given names having their own Wikipedia pages: -

  • [7] - Category: Indian masculine given names
  • [8] - Category: Indian feminine given names
  • [9] - Category: Indian given names
  • [10] - Category: Hindu given names

The popularity of the name is established by means of adding a list of notable people with the given name, as is the case with most of the articles in the above mentioned categories. Therefore, the page on the Indian masculine name Vishwajeet deserves a Wikipedia page for the benefit of the users as a source for useful information on the history and meaning of the name. However, users are free to make appropriate edits as they seem fit, and wherever necessary. Either the deletion tag needs to be removed, or all the hundreds of pages on Indian given names need to be tagged for deletion with immediate effect, which would call for the deletion of every other article on given names irrespective of country of origin. Kreplach123 (talk) 17:27, 14 August 2015 (UTC)

Hi, Please note that just being present does not bring notability and also mere asserting that it should be present nor pointing out to something else brings the article any notability, do not panic it is deletion discussion not a speedy delete tag , so lets see the out come and please bring your points to relevant talk page Shrikanthv (talk) 06:16, 17 August 2015 (UTC)

BLP Prod

Hello, Shrikanthv. :)

While investigating copyright concerns raised with P Muniraju Gowda, I noticed that you had nominated it for BLP Prod. I have had to remove that nomination, as unfortunately the article does not qualify. Wikipedia:Proposed deletion of biographies of living people notes that a BLP Prod can be proposed only if an article does not have any sources at all - whether reliable or unreliable. At the time you placed the PROD, the article included reference to [11], which makes it ineligible for that process. Before nominating articles for this process, please make sure that they contain no sources in any form. Meanwhile, it may be appropriate to pursue deletion of this article under another process. I have not yet completed my copyright check, but it is definitely in need of much work! --Moonriddengirl (talk) 13:18, 17 August 2015 (UTC)

Deleting Mandya Sri Shirdi Satya Sai Baba

This place has attained significant importance over the last few years since its establishment. It is NOT about a company or corporation or organisation. In India all temples which are of public importance are either run by an individual or a trust as a custodian of the public faith and commitment. it is more of charity to run the temple. The details of the place, provided in this article has been provided and detailed as there have been many miracles which have taken place for devotees over the least three upon visit to the temple. In the recent times, there have been thousands of piligrims thronging to the temple. It is building to be a place of significant importance for the Sai Baba devotees in the southern region of India and therefore, believe the article would provide vital and unknown information about this place. The place is a temple and a place of pilgrimage for the devotees of Shirdi Sai Baba. Therefore, please do reconsider the deletion and reinstate the article, as it would benefit the thousands of pilgrims who are now seeking information on this new place of miracles. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Srarun (talkcontribs) 14:03, 20 August 2015 (UTC)

Integral yoga

Hi Shrikanthv. I took alook at Integral yoga; here are my (first?) comments:

  • The lead is quite long, and does not really summarize the article, but is almost an introduction to the topic
  • The article misses an intriduction c.q. background: what's it about, what's the background of Aurobindo's ideas? By whom was he influenced? What's the role of Vivekananda? Who's Vishnu Bhaskar Lele?
  • Much of the lead could be part of such an introduction
  • The section "The goal of integral yoga" could be moved upward

A lot of work to do indeed! Succes, Joshua Jonathan -Let's talk! 04:24, 21 August 2015 (UTC)

Integral Yoga & Integral psychology

Hi Shrikanthv. I think that Integral Yoga and Integral psychology (Sri Aurobindo) could be merged; what do you think? Best regards, Joshua Jonathan -Let's talk! 08:29, 15 September 2015 (UTC)

do not have an Idea now!, its quite complicated as the second subject is a derivative work from the first and the subject Integral Yoga itself has too much text to be filled up with while Integral psychology (Sri Aurobindo) is a derivative work from few of his followers , its a messy thing now so have given myself some break before jumping on to editing this topics. but you have to be surgicaly carefull, as the claims of derivative or interpretation can be misqouted to be the actuall! @Kautilya3: your Wiki-intuition is growing. "If it looks like, and smells like ..." Joshua Jonathan -Let's talk! 04:30, 25 October 2015 (UTC)
I guess so. Two lessons learned from this experience. (1) The IPs important, because they allow us to connect the registered users. In between the accounts, the sockmasters make do with IPs, changing them almost everyday. (2) It is important to file SPI's even with inadequate evidence because the rival sockmasters watch them and they can connect the dots that we can't. - Kautilya3 (talk) 08:10, 25 October 2015 (UTC)
And some strange things that happen [13]. - Kautilya3 (talk) 08:45, 25 October 2015 (UTC)
@Joshua Jonathan: I hope this was in light humor. I find it (mixed expression) since you could tell `Not in a million years in my case where the evidence presented was mistakenly attributed to me, (you can go back and check the archive). Well, we are past that. When I look back I do feel sorry for the weak and uncertain positions people like you took. To imagine that I & Blades & OZ are same person - Not in a million years. Wonder where was the intuition despite actually knowing me and knowing factually I was away. We could use my expertise but the closed group doesn't appreciate it, we all could improve (as person and the articles) and enjoy more. I definitely am proud of not reacting despite rude treatment and baiting. That is what Gautama taught. --AmritasyaPutraT 12:12, 4 November 2015 (UTC)

Of course this was meant humorously, and not as a mean punch towards you. Joshua Jonathan -Let's talk! 12:23, 4 November 2015 (UTC)

@AmritasyaPutra and Joshua Jonathan: Well, this was not the first SPI against Kautilya3, Blades had filed SPI against Kaultilya in past, though Blades himslef blocked as sock later. --Human3015TALK  18:30, 4 November 2015 (UTC)
@Human3015: You are right. There is more to it. The location of the respective organization from where they edited (Thinkmaths & K3) is in separate countries. I never thought they are same but there was high indication of knowing each other. K3 was using sock at some point and admitted it in SPI case (which presently has been deleted for privacy reasons). The blocking of Blades was unfortunate, there is no behavioral evidence, I can confidently say s/he is not OZ in a million years. --AmritasyaPutraT 01:57, 5 November 2015 (UTC)
@AmritasyaPutra: I think we are disturbing Shrikanthv very much by commenting here again and again, still, K3 has a alternative account named SindHind (talk · contribs) which is declared in his talk page. K3's current account is around a year old but he admitted various time that he is editing Wikipedia since 4 years as IP. As name of ThinkMath suggest that he is interested in Math, same way as written by K3's, he created another account SindHind for editing topics related to Astronomy and Maths. So interest in same subject may have lead to think that he is sock of ThinkMath. But they were not. I can't say anything about Blades. I have never interacted with him. I had some interaction with OZ. I have joined Wikipedia in 2015 itself, I don't know deep history of old editors, though I many times read old archives of many investigations and talk pages. --Human3015TALK  02:16, 5 November 2015 (UTC)

Modi

Hi! After proposing merger, you have to start a merger discussion giving your rationale for the proposal. The discussion should be started at the talk page of the proposed target article i.e. Talk:Narendra Modi in this case. You have missed that. So please start the discussion.
Similarly, when tagging an article for COI you need to state your concerns on the talk page i.e. Talk:Public image of Narendra Modi in this case. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {Talk / Edits} 16:48, 3 November 2015 (UTC)

  • I can comment once you start discussion at talk page with your rationale, but before that just a friendly advice to you. This has been discussed very recently 2-3 times. Public image article was nominated for AfD recently with same kind of merge rationale and COI, but it was closed just 10 days ago with "keep" result. Another indirect discussion about this topic was of AfD of List of slogans by Narendra Modi, read here with result of "merge" to Public image article. So there is strong consensus regarding this article to "keep" and all these discussions are very recent ones. So I think there is no need to start it again within 15 days. --Human3015TALK  18:16, 3 November 2015 (UTC)

Mirra Alfassa

Thanks for providing the photos to Mirra Alfassa. I did some fixes therein, as per the edit tags active since 2014. Since you seem to be interested in the subject, please fix the references style, too, paying close attention to RS and the wiki links that lead to wrong articles. Metatron's Cube

Hi there. I saw that you made a comment about Flower of Life so perhaps you would like to comment about the proposed deletion of Metatron's Cube, which I believe is of the same significance and basis, although the article is presently not as developed. Indian people

Hello, User:Shrikanthv i would like to notify that User:Kkm010 has been disturbing ethnic infobox on this page. I have told him again and again that infobox is not a gallery for every well known Indian person, however he keeps widening it and cluttering the page. The current infobox has been kept nuteral for a reasion as it gives better representation of women and minorities. I would also like to note that i have sourced and worked on this page for past week and there is still a lot to sourced, particularly in history section. 117.192.201.56 (talk) 19:20, 18 November 2015 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Chandni Sharma

Hello!! Thanks for visiting the article I created Chandni Sharma. I noticed you placed a few tags on the article which I removed by mistake without fixing the problem. I would like to know what can be done to remove those tags. As I am new to wikipedia I am still learning and I read you quoted that the creator is closely connected to the person whose article is that but let me clear this I not at all connected to that person and the tag regarding original research for that all the links and sources have been added. So will you please tell me what efforts can be made to make the article neutral and tag free. And please help me provide with the guidelines to create a better article. As I am a beauty pageant enthusiast and have keen interest in beauty pageants and its performers and I would like to make better articles of notable subjects related to beauty pageants. Talkback message from Maslowsneeds

Your recent editing history shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. Maslowsneeds (talk) 17:08, 19 January 2016 (UTC)

Shrikanthv knows the policies. Two rigthfull reverts do not constitute edit-warring. Joshua Jonathan -Let's talk! 21:04, 19 January 2016 (UTC)
thanks JJ it was just a AFD disscussion, I do not know why it was getting reverted little odd Shrikanthv (talk) 06:52, 20 January 2016 (UTC)

Geographical Indications in India Edit-a-thon starts in 24 hours

Hello,

Thanks a lot for signing up as a participant in the Geographical Indications in India Edit-a-thon. We want to inform you that this edit-a-thon will start in next 24 hours or so (25 January 0:00 UTC). Here are a few handy tips:

  • ⓵ Before starting you may check the rules of the edit-a-thon once again.
  • ⓶ A resource section has been started, you may check it here.
  • ⓷ Report the articles you are creating and expanding. If a local event page has been created on your Wikipedia you may report it there, or you may report it on the Meta Wiki event page too. This is how you should add an article— go to the "participants" section where you have added you name, and beside that add the articles like this: Example (talk) (Articles: Article1, Article2, Article3, Article4). You don't need to update both on Meta and on your Wikipedia, update at any one place you want.
  • ⓸ If you are posting about this edit-a-thon- on Facebook or Twitter, you may use the hashtag #GIIND2016
  • ⓹ Do you have any question or comment? Do you want us to clarify something? Please ask it here.

Thank you and happy editing.   --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 22:33, 23 January 2016 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Mysore Rosewood Inlay, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Yellow wood. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

7 more days to create or expand articles

Hello, thanks a lot for participating in Geographical Indications in India Edit-a-thon. The edit-a-thon will continue till 10 February 2016 and that means you have got 7 more days to create or expand articles (or imprpove the articles you have already created or expanded).

Rules

The rules remain unchanged. Please report your created or expanded articles.

Joining now

Editors, who have not joined this edit-a-thon, may also join now.

A special barnstar will be given to all the participants who will create or expand articles during this edit-a-thon. His parents' names are already mentioned in the side bar with his picture. Why do you insist on mentioning that again in the early life section? PS: Why do you wrongly mention them as Sikh when his family is a dera followers .Sikhism clearly bars its adharents from following such deras where Guru Granth Sahib is not kept as the central scripture.
