User Box WP Japan edit

Hi. I have a discussion up at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Japan#Membership Roll? which concerns users who display {{User WikiProject Japan}} on their user page.

If I can get consensus, I would like to list you all under Category:WikiProject Japan participants. As of now, you will not be listed unless you switch to (or add) the other User box {{User WP Japan}}.

And if you really do not want to get listed, would you still mind switching to the other User box and use the feature that suppresses listing?
If you don't want to be listed, replace {{User WikiProject Japan}} with {{User WP Japan|nocat=true}}, or on your {{Babel}} replacing your |WikiProject Japan| with |special-boxes={{User WP Japan|nocat=true}}|
Thanks. --Kiyoweap (talk) 11:33, 13 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Disambiguation link notification for February 4 edit

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Iwakura Mission, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Sandringham. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Thanks for developing the obesity article edit

Thanks for developing obesity in the United Kingdom. You did a great job. I was presenting Wikipedia to a group of public health students at a school, and one of them was examining the article.

You posted an interesting picture to the article. I have been collecting examples in Wikipedia of the use of models to illustrate concepts, and I used this image as an example in a discussion in this log I am keeping. I mentioned your user name there, so I thought I would tell you here. I do not normally mention names, but I thought it would be okay in this case, since the image was first used in this way by a famous videographer and also by a newspaper.

Thanks for taking the initiative to select and present a striking image. Thanks for working on soda tax, a related concept. Blue Rasberry (talk) 19:59, 19 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Waseda University edit

Thanks for your edits to Waseda University. A while back someone was trying to convert Waseda to the "oldest private univ. in Japan", on rather bogus grounds. I hadn't noticed that he had done it again... anyway, I think the wording is better now. Imaginatorium (talk) 15:08, 6 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Followup: the same IP is repeatedly adding the same nonsense. It really does seem to be a claim that because in 1920 the ratification procedure for some govt ordinance (whatever) gave a lower number to Waseda (23 vs 24), this makes Waseda "First". I don't want to start edit sparring, and reason does not seem to work. Any ideas? Imaginatorium (talk) 16:13, 10 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Imaginatorium your patience and editorial restraint on this topic has been commendable. --Aw1805 (talk) 01:41, 11 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Please use accurate edit summaries edit

Hi. Thank you for your well-referenced addition to the Subaru article. However, I couldn't help noticing that your edit summary, "Copy edit, add citation", did not describe your edit well; in fact it was wildly inaccurate. In other circumstances an edit summary such as that could even be called misleading.

Your edit consisted solely of adding new material, a new section in fact (though a short one). But adding new material to an article is not "copy editing". The term "copy editing" in edit summaries here almost always means the changes are limited to things like correcting spelling, grammar, and punctuation in existing text. A more appropriate summary for your edit might have been "Added "Subaru in Japan" section, with ref".

This note is intended as a gentle hint for the future. Thank you for your understanding. Jeh (talk) 09:26, 28 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Fuchū, Tokyo, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page National Police Academy (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Caught by an open proxy block but this host or IP is not an open proxy. My IP address is 124.36.164.158 Using a hotel IP link - could this be the source of the problem? Your prompt attention appreciated. Aw1805 (talk) 10:31, 11 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

This account or address is not in fact blocked from editing. Your inability to edit is likely because you are using a VPN, proxy, onion-type browser, or other service that hides your IP address. Please turn off any service that might be changing your IP, clear your browser's cache, and within 24 hours your should be able to edit again. If that does not work, please file another unblock request so we can try to get to root of the problem. Using the hotel Wifi is likely the issue, public wifi is often blocked for abuse becasue so many different people can use it. CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n! 19:23, 11 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

That IP address is not blocked, either. However, if you have been using a proxy or a VPN in the past 24 hours, that would account for the block. You'll need to wait 24 hours after disabling the proxy/vpn. --Yamla (talk) 10:36, 11 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of On AG edit

Hello Aw1805,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged On AG for deletion, because it seems to be promotional, rather than an encyclopedia article.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

Speedy deletion nomination of Draft:On AG edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Draft:On AG requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://www.runnersworld.com/gear/a22739511/best-on-running-shoes/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. S Philbrick(Talk) 12:16, 9 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Your submission at Articles for creation: On (company) has been accepted edit

On (company), which you submitted to Articles for creation, has been created.

Congratulations, and thank you for helping expand the scope of Wikipedia! We hope you will continue making quality contributions.

The article has been assessed as Start-Class, which is recorded on its talk page. Most new articles start out as Stub-Class or Start-Class and then attain higher grades as they develop over time. You may like to take a look at the grading scheme to see how you can improve the article.

Since you have made at least 10 edits over more than four days, you can now create articles yourself without posting a request. However, you may continue submitting work to Articles for creation if you prefer.

If you have any questions, you are welcome to ask at the help desk. Once you have made at least 10 edits and had an account for at least four days, you will have the option to create articles yourself without posting a request to Articles for creation.

If you would like to help us improve this process, please consider leaving us some feedback.

Thanks again, and happy editing!
