NEW YORK (Jan. 6, 2010) – The Continental, the new Costas Kondylis & Partners-designed, 53-story, 338-unit luxury rental tower located at 885 Sixth Ave. begins leasing Fri., Jan. 14, with move-ins anticipated for February.

Developed by Tower 111, LLC and situated on the corner of Sixth Avenue and 32nd Street, The Continental offers studio, one-bedroom, one-bedroom with home office, and two-bedroom apartments starting on the 9th floor. The building’s lobby, amenity spaces and garage, as well as premier retail space may be found on the lower floors. Monthly rental prices range from approximately $2,550 to more than $6,110.

List of tallest buildings in Central America

The list of tallest buildings in Central America does not include any buildings in Panama City. The article defines Central America by listing several nations located there, but it omits both Panama and Belize. Yet a separate Wiki article on Central America clearly states that Panama and Belize are in fact part of Central America. I agree, but there appears to be no List of tallest buildings in Central America article, nor is a similarly named list mentioned in Category:Lists of tallest buildings or any of the sub-categories. There is however a List of tallest buildings in Panama City. It would be helpful if you tell us which article you mean by providing a link here; or you can edit it yourself (in which case please be sure to add [[Category:Lists of tallest buildings|Central America]] to the article). Bandung is the capital of West Java and 2nd most populous city in Indonesia. It is also a city with historic importance, which has cultural heritage as well as architectural heritage. It is an important financial and educational hub in ASEAN. The city already has more than 20 buildings which has height of 300 feet and above. I created a list of tallest buildings in Bandung, which was deleted without providing any reason but only by consensus at AFD discussion. height of Taipei 101

Hello. I already asked on article's discussion page, but no answer since 19th May. Taipei 101 article refers solely to the building's emporis page for its height (509.2 m). But numerous other webpages refer to it as being 508 meters tall (bbc article, (in French) lemoniteur.fr article ...). I don't think emporis height should be the only one to be used in the article. Bloomberg Tower

I have been working to expand the Bloomberg Tower article from Stub status (draft saved here in my Sandbox) and would appreciate input from other editors before I move forward with any changes. I have tried to improve the article by including more information about the history and construction of the tower along with details about the Bloomberg L.P. offices. I have also rewritten sections with bulleted lists into prose paragraphs and added citations throughout. I don't know. People occasionally add themselves to the participants list, but no one seems bothered to answer my questions here and I suspect the article quality info has never been updated. Out of those I might consider the founders of the project, Hydrogen Iodide (talk · contribs) hasn't edited since early 2009, and Sahmeditor (talk · contribs) has only about a dozen edits this year (all on non-skyscraper stuff), but Raime (talk · contribs) was still quite active up until a couple of months ago. Reliable resources?

The project's page lists resources. Are these considered reliable for wikipedia articles on skyscrapers? My question is motivated by the TFL nomination of List of tallest structures in Tokyo and particularly I am wondering about emporis.com and skyscraperpage.com. bamse (talk) 11:23, 25 August 2011 (UTC)

The strongest sources are the CTBUH database, the Skyscraperpage diagrams section(not the forums) and Emporis. Emporis and CTBUH are contributed to by people in the construction industry, and the Skyscraperpage diagrams section has strict editorial control. The forums themselves (skyscrapercity and skyscraperpage)are not reliable sources since they amount to hearsay, but they do often lead to reliable news articles and other official materials. The skyscraper Wiki should not be considered a reliable source.Scalzi+ | (Talk | contribs) 16:56, 25 August 2011 (UTC)

Expert needed: Mandarin Oriental, Atlanta / Mandarin Oriental Atlanta

These two articles discuss almost identically named skyscrapers on the same street - one built, one proposed. I'd suspect the proposed but never constructed tower 'became' the built one but the dates seem wrong. Mandarin Oriental, Atlanta matches this one, whereas Mandarin Oriental Atlanta looks like this. If they are indeed two separate buildings on the same street in the same city with the same name, there has to be a reason. I see King's Reach Tower has been rebranded South Bank Tower and there are some more details on what the developer CIT are planning for the tower. Maybe the wiki for King's Reach Tower can be changed to South Bank Tower? Redundant India pages?

I came along looking for something else and noticed that there seems to be a lot of redundancy in these articles:

• List of tallest buildings in India

and all of the detailed city ones:

• List of tallest buildings in Mumbai
• List of tallest buildings in Kolkata
• List of tallest buildings in Delhi
• List of tallest buildings in Bangalore
• List of tallest buildings in Chennai
• List of tallest buildings in Hyderabad
• List of tallest buildings in Lucknow
• List of tallest buildings in Pune
• List of tallest buildings in Kerala
• List of tallest buildings in Kochi
• List of tallest buildings in Thrissur
• List of tallest buildings in Ahmedabad

This redundancy is going to be a nightmare to keep maintained. Surely there's a way to have the info in only one place, or at most, 2? For instance, List of tallest buildings in different cities in India could just be replaced by links to each of the city pages. And then the repeated list of ALL the see alsos to all of the cities on each page could just be replaced by one link to the consolidated list. Just my thoughts. Elf | Talk 20:06, 3 April 2013 (UTC)

I agree. There does seem to be a lot of repetition here. List of tallest buildings in different cities in India seems totally redundant because the List of tallest buildings in India allows you to sort by city. While there is more detail in the individual city lists, it is once again repeating information available in List of tallest buildings in India and adding a bit (presumably to keep that main list to a manageable size) yet creating the maintenance headache you mention. Another problem is the sourcing. I haven't looked in detail (or at all for that matter) but Wikipedia relies on reliable sources. They do not include forums such as the popular skyscrapercity.com, flickr, sales hyperbole on real estate sites, or simply walking round a city claiming "...it must exist with the details I've added because I walked past a building site last week". It would be worthwhile checking the sources used for things like List of tallest buildings in Lucknow (yep, some of it is skyscrapercity.com again!) On the other hand, the CTBUH is reliable and I would suggest other sites like Emporis and Structurae as nearly as reliable.

You could propose some of them for deletion or create a set of merge discussions, but be aware that many of these lists have been created by the same editor who could well cry how is this different from a List of tallest buildings in New York City with its list of other cities in the 'See also' section. Reliable Resources 2

Right now I'm trying to get the List of tallest buildings in Milwaukee to featured status, and in doing so, I have found conflicting info from Emporis and Skyscraperpage.com. My question is, which one should I go with? Zonafan39 (talk) 04:14, 12 July 2013 (UTC)

I find the CTBUH website a more useful resource (though it can be a little slow to update at times). Other sites, including Emporis can also be slow to update if something about a project changes. If several sites say there are 48 floors and one says 50, 48 might be the better choice of an encyclopedia article; or you could investigate the reason for the difference (maybe the 50 includes mezzanine or basement floors which would make something you could mention in the article citing both sources). The Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat is considered a reliable source and is referenced in many tall building articles. For One World Trade Center, the article currently uses the CTBUH figures. The issue of 'vanity height' is what will be discussed by the CTBUH in November, and could result in the official height of 1WTC changing. If that happens, it will be reflected on their website and will probably be reflected in our article as well. Pretty much the same happened with Burj Khalifa. The way this worked with Burj Khalifa was that during construction most reliable sources said the design was to be 818 m tall, although there was speculation in unreliable sources of heights between 700 m and 950 m. It was listed in 'under construction' lists at 818 m. Construction topped out in October 2009 and it was listed at #1 in List of tallest buildings in the world at 818 m; until that time it could only be considered a structure, not a building. When Burj Khalifa had its official opening in January 2010, the height was announced to be 828 m, all the articles had to be changed since reliable sources were now saying 828 m. A short while (2 months?) later, the CTBUH finally ratified their figures and included a 1.8 m tall antenna on the top of the spire. This leads to the figures which currently appearing in the Burj Khalifa and other articles.

I noticed the issue of spire or antenna is covered in One World Trade Center#Height. In my opinion, it would be sad if the CTBUH rules that it is an antenna and not a spire because it would remove the symbolic height of 1776 ft from the official record. However, the rules exist for a reason - to discourage building owners from erecting ever taller antennas in an attempt to reclaim a title lost to rival buildings. Indeed, the CTBUH duly met and decided the structure topping One World Trade Center was a spire. This was announced at a press conference, yesterday in Chicago, and reported by many reliable sources including the BBC. The building therefore gets to keep its significant height of 1776 feet. One57 is claiming to be the worlds tallest residential building in an article with a title suggesting it is merely the tallest apartment building. It is not taller than Trump International Hotel and Tower (Chicago) and other supertall residential buildings. List of tallest buildings at Monterrey

A recent edit at List of tallest buildings at Monterrey changed the height of Torre Sofia from 525 feet to 492.126 feet (and the next edit changed that to just 492). The edit broke the {{convert}} template. Should the edit be reverted or cleaned up? Johnuniq (talk) 06:26, 12 March 2014 (UTC)

Normally I would say fix the edit so the template works (ie. put a "|" in the right place). However, I can find no evidence in the usual reliable sources (CTBUH or Emporis) that the Torre Sofia has any height planned or that it even exists. This includes the only source used in the article (skyscraperpage). That whole list has a number of problems with it: Sourcing from reliable sources is just one of them. The under construction list should list metres first. There is still evidence of untranslated Spanish (eg. "23 y 20"). The introduction to the first list says equal height has a "=" in the rank column, but that is not the case. Astronaut (talk) 10:13, 12 March 2014 (UTC)

Yes, I noticed that it was a bit of a mess, and I could see that papering-over the convert problem was not a good idea. Some quick Googling failed to find sources for several buildings, and I wondered if some rule of thumb was being used to guess the height from the number of stories (which is more readily confirmed). I was cleaning up List of tallest buildings in Pittsburgh as it is a featured list but had suffered from a large amount of additions to the page since it passed. The editor that made these additions is dead set on keeping then even though they do not conform with the projects explanation of what should be in a tallest building list as outlined here. Must every building on a "tallest buildings in X" list have its own article to be included on the list?

At Talk:List of tallest buildings in Cyprus, an editor has taken the position that no building may be listed on a list of tallest buildings unless the building is "notable enough on their own to warrant them having their own page". Lists of 'tallest buildings in X' exist usually to show comparative heights. There is no sense in missing something off the list if the list can be independently sourced.

However, on some lists there is a rule that an article must exist before it can be added to the list. But those list are usually just a list of articles. Lists of buildings usually have some ranking criteria and leaving out one item because it doesn't have an article seems to me to be unhelpful to the reader. Of course, there could be items on that list, that might not themselves be notable. For example, a building called Marina 106 started construction in Dubai and while it is very tall, it was not considered notable and its fledgling article was deleted. However, deleting it from List of tallest buildings in Dubai#On-hold, or List of tallest buildings in the world#Skyscrapers on-hold makes no sense at all. The Leonardo (Sandton)

Hi all, would it be possible to get some eyes at The Leonardo (Sandton), please? I flagged it for notability concerns because at the time it was very poorly sourced and it's a proposed development, not a finished building. However, I think it does fall within your scope as it would be one of the tallest buildings in South Africa. There are only two refs in the article that I think are suitable for satisfying the general notability guideline, but wanted to get some feedback: [5][6]. Thanks! Featured list review?

I think List of tallest buildings in Austin needs to go through featured list review as it no longer meets featured list criteria. Specifically, two whole sections (Under construction and approved) are completely unreferenced. There is an outdated tag from 3 years ago not addressed. There are many dead links, messy citations, and many of the buildings in the main list are unsourced. This would take a lot of work to bring it up to standards again sadly. Maybe featured list review will gain some support for fixing the list? Anyone opposed? Mattximus (talk) 23:03, 24 March 2016 (UTC)

I think most of the tallest buildings lists with FL status will need massive cleanups and review. Editors have been adding on more and more projects and letting things get out of hand while also letting cleanup work stagnate. SounderBruce 00:02, 25 March 2016 (UTC)

I agree, it looks like it's just neglect. It appears to have been about 5 years since anyone has bothered with clean up. I think I'll nominate just this one, and see if we can drum up some support for cleaning these articles more in general. It really isn't featured quality to have 2 complete sections with dozens of buildings without any reference whatsoever. Mattximus (talk)

Just an FYI but I created Category:Draft-Class Skyscraper articles after having found an old user's drafts for Draft:List of tallest buildings in Arizona, Draft:List of tallest buildings in New Mexico and Draft:List of tallest buildings in Oregon. They are pretty done, just need some double checking. If there are others, they can go there as well. Spire/Antenna

Hi Guys. I'm new to this wikiproject but am excited to get involved. Before I can really proceed with working on some articles however I need clarification on the height of buildings concerning Spires and Antennas. There are a lot of Polish skyscraper enthusiasts that will insist the antenna and spire are part of the overall height of buildings. While to my understand Spires but not Antennas count towards the height I've noticed a lot of buildings with the top height as an "antenna spire" and was wondering what classification that comes under? In particular there have been constant edit wars with Warsaw skyscrapers. Most of them have antennas which at times add 40-60m to the overall height (a lot for European standards). I was wondering what everyone's thoughts are on this as generally speaking the Commerzbank Tower has it's height at 259m (instead of 300.1m at the antenna spire) but then I've had edit wars where Warsaw's Palace of Culture and Science is put down as 230m but without the antenna spire it's 187m. If anyone has time would really appreciate them looking through List of tallest buildings in the European Union to harmonise the heights because at the moment it's a mess and I'm not sure how to list them.

We generally accept CTBUH clearly defined (and generally accepted) height criteria (see [7]). In case of Palace of Culture and Science is listing architectural height 230.7 m and height to the tip 237 m. List of tallest buildings in the European Union is clearly differentiate main list by architectural height and pinnacle height list (height to tip by CTBUHs definition).--Jklamo (talk) 09:08, 27 January 2017 (UTC)

But then why is the antenna of the Commerzbank Tower dismissed but the antenna of the Warsaw Trade Tower included? That link has only added to my confusion because I can't find a list by the CTBUH, nor does it differentiate between a spire and antenna (especially when they're listed as "antenna spire" in their respective articles). Have you checked out both lists on the List of tallest buildings in the European Union page? Because Tour First and the Warsaw Trade Tower (for example) are listed as 231m and 208m for both lists respectively. Am I missing something? BenBezuidenhout (talk) 10:10, 27 January 2017 (UTC)

@BenBezuidenhout: Tour first is a spire, so architectural and tip heights should be the same. Warsaw Trade Tower and Warsaw Spire are wrong in the CTBUH and I've sent corrections in the Skyscrapercenter database because it is clearly an antenna and should count to architectural height. I feel like there are probably quite a few errors then. Especially with the towers in Warsaw they almost always take the very tip (antennas and all). Warsaw is currently constructing the Varso Tower which (including antenna) has a height of 310m (set to overtake the Shard as the tallest in the EU) but without the antenna it sinks to 230m. Here is an image of the tower u/c, am I right in that that's an antenna? CTBUH list it as 310m. Thanks for getting back to me! :) BenBezuidenhout (talk) 12:17, 31 January 2017 (UTC)

I have created 930 Poydras. It has one sentence that I don't have proper citations for: "It is the tallest building completed in the city in the 2010s and the most recently completed skyscraper." RfC on WTC collapses

I have started an RfC[8] on the Collapse of the World Trade Center. The article has historically been subject to a great deal of controversy, but this hasn't been a problem for several years. The conspiracy theorists have been largely run out of town. It now seems possible to make a WP:GOOD article that clearly explains the mechanics of the collapse in such a way that people who want to know how it happened can inform themselves. Unfortunately, qualified experts appear also to have lost interest in the article. The RfC is an attempt to find a way to move forward. WikiProject collaboration notice from the Portals WikiProject

The reason I am contacting you is because there are one or more portals that fall under this subject, and the Portals WikiProject is currently undertaking a major drive to automate portals that may affect them.

Portals are being redesigned.

The new design features are being applied to existing portals.

At present, we are gearing up for a maintenance pass of portals in which the introduction section will be upgraded to no longer need a subpage. In place of static copied and pasted excerpts will be self-updating excerpts displayed through selective transclusion, using the template {{Transclude lead excerpt}}.

The discussion about this can be found here.

Maintainers of specific portals are encouraged to sign up as project members here, noting the portals they maintain, so that those portals are skipped by the maintenance pass. Currently, we are interested in upgrading neglected and abandoned portals. There will be opportunity for maintained portals to opt-in later, or the portal maintainers can handle upgrading (the portals they maintain) personally at any time.

Background

On April 8th, 2018, an RfC ("Request for comment") proposal was made to eliminate all portals and the portal namespace. On April 17th, the Portals WikiProject was rebooted to handle the revitalization of the portal system. On May 12th, the RfC was closed with the result to keep portals, by a margin of about 2 to 1 in favor of keeping portals.

There's an article in the current edition of the Signpost interviewing project members about the RfC and the Portals WikiProject.

Since the reboot, the Portals WikiProject has been busy building tools and components to upgrade portals.

So far, 84 editors have joined.

The scope section of this project page says high-rises are in scope for this project. The skyscraper article says a skyscraper has over 40 floors. I added The National (building) to this project; but I did not add it to any of the skyscaper categories mentioned in the categorization section of this project page, because it's a 20 floor high-rise. I found that almost all the proposed buildings end up as cancelled or stale (many of which are merely speculative to begin with). This runs afoul of WP:CRYSTAL and really is not encyclopedic at all. Encyclopedias should not report on potential buildings that might exist one day, but should only be for things that actually exist. In other words, a list of tallest buildings should be a list of tallest buildings, not tallest buildings+potential/proposed/speculative buildings.

I can see the merit in buildings under construction however, since that is a "real thing". But the other sections go against wikipedia policies and encyclopedic norms (no physical encyclopedia reports on "potential" buildings). Mattximus (talk) 15:46, 14 March 2019 (UTC)

• If a proposed building has significant coverage from secondary sources, by all means it needs to be listed. The removal of such sections needs to be done on a case by case basis...List of tallest buildings in Seattle, for example, has many entries that have been discussed extensively by the city's two major business journals, and do actually make it to construction.   • If we agree to include them, I'd also agree that it should be done so on a case-by-case basis. I like how the Seattle article includes buildings with actual news articles or official sources, not just a compiling of skyscrapercenter.com. For those cases, I see how they can be more meritorious.       • It might be best to have a limited number of proposed listings that are retained, with a hidden comment that explicitly state that only entries with coverage from major secondary sources should be allowed. Request for information on WP1.0 web tool

Hello and greetings from the maintainers of the WP 1.0 Bot! As you may or may not know, we are currently involved in an overhaul of the bot, in order to make it more modern and maintainable. As part of this process, we will be rewriting the web tool that is part of the project. You might have noticed this tool if you click through the links on the project assessment summary tables.

We'd like to collect information on how the current tool is used by....you! How do you yourself and the other maintainers of your project use the web tool? Which of its features do you need? How frequently do you use these features? And what features is the tool missing that would be useful to you? Dubai Creek Tower

Can someone else have a look at Talk:Dubai Creek Tower please? Construction seems to be halted, the best available sources for the progress are Youtube videos. User:Robynthehode reverts any mention of the current status in the article. --mfb (talk) 22:18, 9 January 2020 (UTC)

While the article has several citation/verifiability issues in general, I do not think the current status of construction is necessarily one of them. Furthermore, anonymous Youtube videos are not acceptable sources per WP:YTREF and WP:VIDEOLINK. A (possible, unverified) two-year break in construction is not sufficient to say that the tower is no longer being built or will not be built, without citing a reliable source. Please check what I want to add to the article: "appears halted". That is not a claim that it won't be built. It is not even a claim that it is not being built right now. It is a really minimal statement that there hasn't been visible progress for a significant time. Compare this to the current article status, which claims that it is under construction - relying on sources from 2017. A source from 2017 can't demonstrate construction in 2020. So we have some sources saying it is halted vs. absolutely no source after 2017 seeing any construction progress. I found an article on a website saying the same in the meantime, added it to the talk page. --mfb (talk) 00:15, 10 January 2020 (UTC)
