Company profile of Power Ledger deleted
During talk regarding deletion of the english version of the Power Ledger article, various notable sources were discussed but ignored and subsequently the page was deleted before it could be edited/updated to have them included. Power Ledger is an actively operating software company that happens to use blockchain as part of its tech-stack, which seems to have attracted negative attention from David Gerard, who's earned a reputation for filibustering talks and vandalising articles regarding real-world implementations of blockchain technology. Previous talks were also unproductive due to filibustering from David but a 'no consensus' was reached. Can the article please be reinstated so it can be updated with new information and sources (including multiple independent reports from major Australian media outlets and information on notable completed and ongoing projects with major international renewable energy providers and government agencies)? -- Warporter (talk) 07:56, 7 December 2020 (UTC)

Jack Podlesny re-creation
Hi! I created a page on UGA kicker Jack Podlesny in early August, and you deleted because he was not notable enough, which I agree with at the point. However, over the course of the season, he became the starting placekicker and just yesterday was awarded the Offensive MVP Award at the Peach Bowl. I believe this gives him enough noteriety to have a wikipedia page created for him. - @Gcjimmerson: Thanks for checking. The relevant criteria are WP:GNG and WP:GRIDIRON; Podlesny needs to meet one of those to be considered notable. Football isn't my area of expertise, so I may be missing something, but I understand the Peach Bowl is a collegiate match, and so I do not see how it counts towards GRIDIRON. - @Vanamonde93: So it looks like the criteria for college players falls under WP:NCOLLATH. I believe he meets one, if not two, of the criteria. One, he hit the game winning field goal as the game closed to beat a Cincinnati in the Peach Bowl. He has garnered national attention for his efforts; if you google his name, you should be able to see this. Additionally, winning the Peach Bowl Offensive MVP is a notable award, which, while not listed in the awards section, is still an award that should be listed on a wikipedia infobox for a football athlete. Please let me know if this meets the notability requirements!
- @Gcjimmerson: It's true that NCOLLATH provides additional criteria. However, I don't think you're right about the award being a major national award; and if he genuinely got national media attention, then that should be easy to demonstrate...regardless, I'm not the best person to advise you about this (remember, I only closed the deletion discussion, I did not initiate it or support deletion); I'd recommend asking the football wikiproject. - @Tomklem: Your first step would be to contact me, and ask me to modify my closure; but I'll save you the trouble, because I'm not going to do that. Your second step would be to open a discussion at WP:DRV. However, I'm a little concerned that you're not taking the warnings on your talk page seriously. I understand that you'd want to have a page about yourself; who doesn't? But given a consensus in a community discussion that there wasn't sufficient evidence of notability, it doesn't look great for you to be advocating to overturn that result. I added the references to clarify that what was called 'Iranian' in the Indo-Aryan page had inter-mixed with South Asian and that BMAC ancestry as origin of South Asians has been disproven, it is from Central Asia instead. - You're misrepresenting what I wrote. I said I wouldn't discuss the content; not that I wouldn't discuss my warning. Your edit implied that Indo-Aryans began migrating to South Asia 12,000 years ago. That is not supported by the source, and is therefore original research. If you meant not to imply that, then my warning is still justified. I'm not interested in what you meant to imply; that is a discussion for the talk page, because it is a content matter. Ref help?
I am working on a project which is probably going to be in development for a year or better. Sourcing is difficult to come by, as most sources on nationality don't even discuss the problem of women losing their nationality or gloss over it, as if it never happened. Searching for sources for Ecuador, I ran across a reference to a work, Nacionalidad, naturalización y ciudadanía en Hispano-América, but from what I can tell the only accessible digitization is not available to me (I don't attend a partner university and am not visually impaired). So, I decided to scrap it and look elsewhere, but then I found this which appears to have been part of the work serialized in the Bulletin of the Academia de Ciencias Políticas y Sociales. From the article on Ecuador, I can see that he actually discusses the problems faced by women. Unfortunately, they only did 9 articles, which cover Argentina, Chile, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, and Ecuador. I cannot find any copy of the book for sale and interlibrary loan is out of the question, as there are no public libraries here which loan books to be taken outside of their facilities or have exchange services. I cannot get the book from the Resource Exchange as they are unable to provide full books. Got any ideas? SusunW (talk) 16:17, 9 January 2021 (UTC)
- Oh dear, this is hard...it seems to have been digitized, but thanks to copyright rules, the digital edition can only be searched, not read, and that's all I have access to. Also, the link to WorldCat is broken, but I did manage to find a listing here. Your best bet might be finding someone who can get the book (perhaps via interlibrary loan?) and then work with you on it, rather than sending it to you, which of course wouldn't be possible...Sorry I can't be of more help. - @Vice regent: I think your tone and language have been better than most others on that page, but you have often been just as reluctant to offer compromise with respect to content. Your latest proposal is a step in the right direction, but it's only a small step. Technical news
- When blocking an IPv6 address with Twinkle, there is now a checkbox with the option to just block the /64 range. When doing so, you can still leave a block template on the initial, single IP address' talkpage.
- When protecting a page with Twinkle, you can now add a note if doing so was in response to a request at WP:RfPP, and even link to the specific revision.
- There have been a number of reported issues with Pending Changes. Most problems setting protection appear to have been resolved (phab:T273317) but other issues with autoaccepting edits persist (phab:T275322).

WikiCup 2021 March newsletter
Round 1 of the competition has finished; it was a high-scoring round with 21 contestants scoring more than 100 points. Everyone with a positive score moves on to Round 2, with 55 contestants qualifying. You will need to finish among the top thirty-two contestants in Round 2 if you are to qualify for Round 3. Our top scorers in Round 1 were:
Epicgenius led the field with a featured article, nine good articles and an assortment of other submissions, specialising on buildings and locations in New York, for a total of 945 points.
Bloom6132 was close behind with 896 points, largely gained from 71 "In the news" items, mostly recent deaths.
ImaginesTigers, who has been editing Wikipedia for less than a year, was in third place with 711 points, much helped by bringing League of Legends to featured article status, exemplifying how bonus points can boost a contestant's score.
Amakuru came next with 708 points, Kigali being another featured article that scored maximum bonus points.
Ktin, new to the WikiCup, was in fifth place with 523 points, garnered from 15 DYKs and 34 "In the news" items.
The Rambling Man scored 511 points, many from featured article candidate reviews and from football related DYKs.
Gog the Mild, last year's runner-up, came next with 498 points, from a featured article and numerous featured article candidate reviews.
Hog Farm, at 452, scored for a featured article, four good articles and a number of reviews.
Le Panini, another newcomer to the WikiCup, scored 438 for a featured article and three good articles.
Lee Vilenski, last year's champion, scored 332 points, from a featured article and various other sport-related topics.

These contestants, like all the others, now have to start again from scratch. In Round 1, contestants achieved eight featured articles, three featured lists and one featured picture, as well as around two hundred DYKs and twenty-seven ITNs. They completed 97 good article reviews, nearly double the 52 good articles they claimed. Contestants also claimed for 135 featured article and featured list candidate reviews. There is no longer a requirement to mention your WikiCup participation when undertaking these reviews.
Remember that any content promoted after the end of Round 1 but before the start of Round 2 can be claimed in Round 2. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is a good article candidate, a featured process, or something else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews.

Hello again. I just wanted to say a belated congratulations on the promotion of Dreamsnake to a FA status. I greatly appreciate and respect your work on female sci-fi writers. I have never heard of this book before, and after reading through the article, I am genuinely interested in checking it out. This FAC also inspired to possibly work on the The Crystal Star star (a far less well-received novel by Vonda N. McIntyre) in the future lol. Anyway, just wanted to say my congratulations on this. - Of course! I only know about The Crystal Star because it is one of the most-hated Star Wars novels, and for whatever reason, I find that to be an interesting reason to explore it further. I would imagine that it could be quite difficult to write stories based on major franchises, like Star Wars and Star Trek, given how much a fanbase is invested in the material and has his or her own interpretations of the characters and universe. Intractable Balkans matters
Hey. All I can say is that I welcome any bold approach to moderate the conduct of several of the Balkans regulars who are featured in that report. Much respect to anyone who dares to tread in that walls of text minefield of content which is of relative obscurity (especially pre-modern history and/or language disputes). - I'm not sure how to frame this, so I'll just blurt it out. Admins at AE often focus on non-content -related conduct. Repeated NPA/civility breaches makes matters simple, and I'm not saying it shouldn't take priority, especially when entering the realm of harassment. But what I find (and maybe it's just me) is that the endless, as you call it, "argumentation" (and I'd add also WP:TE- to it as a suffix) often is the root of such misconduct. Both sides engage in it, both sides suffer its grating effects, and both sides falter with occasional outbursts over it.
- Not unique to this topic area, of course, but similar to the Balkans, several topic areas which are relatively obscure to the average English speaker, like WP:ARBAA2 or the new WP:ARBKURDS, do not make it easy to tell what's what (concerning reliability, up to and including fabrications outright). How to best tackle this problematic, that I don't know (again). But identifying what is happening down in the trenches is undoubtedly an important part of any possible amelioration to this perennial problem. El_C 01:00, 13 March 2021 (UTC)
- @El C: Sorry for taking a while to reply; been pre-ocupied off-wiki. I agree that we tend to focus on tone, broadly speaking, over substance, when assessing conduct matters; and this is a problem. I think the tendentious editing you mention is an obvious example of civil-but-problematic conduct; I'd argue the problem is wider, in that we have a number of users, even very experienced ones, who are utterly unable to separate content work in contentious areas from their personal POV. This is bad enough in well-understood areas; in obscure topics it becomes utterly intractable. With respect to the MEK, for instance, I am sorely tempted to abandon the administrator hat and dive into the source material myself; in the absence of anyone willing to treat the source material in its entirety (rather than cherry-picking), the trench warfare on the talk seems set to continue indefinitely. - Following a request for comment, page movers were granted the
delete-redirectuserright, which allows moving a page over a single-revision redirect, regardless of that redirect's target.
Technical news
- When you move a page that many editors have on their watchlist the history can be split and it might also not be possible to move it again for a while. This is because of a job queue problem. (T278350)
- Code to support some very old web browsers is being removed. This could cause issues in those browsers. (T277803)

I don't really think this is canvassing (we have roughly the same view, but it seems to fall under the 'letting people who are interested know neutrally' exception), but there's been a lot of comment on the ARBIPA case at the DS community comment page, and since the Arbs seemed to want to deal with it there, you might be better commenting there than at the ARCA.
