It was renamed Wikipedia:WikiProject Ice Hockey/Article Improvement, and it includes two section. The first section is called articles in dire need of improvement. It list articles, usually important, that are in very poor shape. The second section is called requested help. Users list an article they request help improving a certain article, which will facilitate collaboration, which is the aim of any WikiProject. There is one article currently listed there, Henrik Lundqvist, here. The goal is to at least get it to Good article status. Diacritics By Maxim In the past few weeks, there has been quite heated discussion about the use of diacritics in article name. The current guideline is using diacritics in the pages of articles of all player names which require them, but redirects are exempt. Task forces By Maxim There have been two new task forces started within the WikiProject to coordinate major topics. Sweden Ice Hockey task force This task force was initiated by Krm500. Its current goal is to improve Henrik Lundqvist to Good or Featured article status. It covers all Swedish clubs, leagues and competitions and associated articles, players and coaches that are Swedish, or have played/coached for a Swedish club, and arenas in Sweden. They plan to eventually operate as a sort of a sub-project, which will have its own articles for creation, ranking importance and quality of articles, and co-ordinate article improvement. Its current members are Krm500, Bamsefar75, and CLAES. New Jersey Devils task force This task force was initiated by Bsroiaadn. Its goal is to improve New Jersey Devils to Featured Topic status. Although it currently meets the required article count, the task force wishes to improve it further. Its area of coverage is very similar to the Sweden Ice Hockey task force. Its members are Bsroiaadn, JHMM13, FutureNJGov, Sportskido8, Michael Greiner, JRWalko, and Soxrock. Requested Images By Maxim After discussion on the WikiProject talk page, Serte created a page for Requested Images. The page encourages users to license images for use on articles. The page also has section to request images for players, arenas, game situations, miscellaneous, and team and league logos. The page has been quite popular; since it was created on July 21, there have been six completed requests. There are four currently outstanding requests: Patrik Eliáš — Photo of player, requested by Bsroiaadn Scott Stevens — Photo of player, requested by Bsroiaadn Daniel Alfredsson — Photo of player, requested by Maxim Hart Trophy — Photo of the original Hart Trophy (retired in 1960), requested by Scorpion0422 Article assessement completed By Maxim On July 12, Kaiser matias announced that he had completed assessing all the articles with a {{ice hockey}} tag, sorting them into Category:Unassessed Ice Hockey articles. Kaiser matias has ranked about 9000 articles in that category, and most were stubs, and "have no information at all", according to him. Everybody is encouraged to expand the stubs into real articles. This effort took around 5 months. A big thanks goes to Kaiser matias from me and all the project.

Fair Use Info for 180_ZX_Spectrum.png

To Videmus Omnia

I have added information on the page for 180 ZX Spectrum.png as to explain why I believe the image should be used for fair use. Pleased read it and understand my view, please note that I am what you could call a "virgin" on this topic, so any parts that seem "off-colour" to you, I can only apologise.

As crazy as it sounds, making screenshots from various emulators is one of my favourite things to do in life and I have had the pleasure and honour, to share my "hobby" on various websites, such as arcadehistory.com and worldofspectrum.com, and I felt that Wikipedia would be a new chapter. However, there seems to be a problem with that and for that, I can only apologise.

I have been aware that all images needed to contain a "fair-use rationale", however I decide to copy (yes I'm a copycat) other examples of video game screenshots and followed that lead, (if you can't beat 'em, JOIN 'EM) in which most of them, contained what you saw on 180. Another reason was pure and simple, I thought "what the heck do I type", so I ultimatley decided to "leave it and hope for the best", in which now for the third time my ass has been bitten for this very same reason. (Oh oh, three strikes and you out right??)

You know I've typed this before but I can only offer you my fullest apologises (well I am a softy after all) and hope you can understand my view of this situation. However, understanding you are American, sometimes reading British English isn't always a piece of cake so I hope you understand everything.

Sorry, I just saw your reply - I appreciate your contributions, and it looks like the images can be easily justified. To avoid further messages, I would look back through your upload log and make sure the images you have made and contributed have a rationale. We are working to create a new task force within the WikiProject to deal with topics related to the Pittsburgh Penguins. It hasn't been created yet; but it aims to expand articles based on former and current Pittsburgh Penguins players and articles. Good luck! New Administrators Currently 0 promoted admins! Be the first one at WP:RFA. Featured Topic Drive By Maxim The original featured topic drive, initiated by Scorpion0422, has concluded succesfully. National Hockey League awards is now a featured topic, with 24 articles in total. Of them, 20 are featured lists, one is a featured article, and the other three are trophy articles that were too short to become featured lists. Eight users signed up to help out, shown here. Hi there. I see you moved my addition of Bugaboo (The Flea) on the List of ZX Spectrum games article. Can I ask what your reasoning was? I placed it below Bear Bovver which was also a 1983 game. Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice

Hi,

As a regularly contributing UK Wikipedian, we were wondering if you wanted to contribute to the Oxford bid to host the 2010 Wikimania conference. Please see here for details of how to get involved, we need all the help we can get if we are to put in a compelling bid.

We are also in the process of forming a new UK Wikimedia chapter to replace the soon to be folded old one. If you are interested in helping shape our plans, showing your support or becoming a future member or board member, please head over to the Wikimedia UK v2.0 page and let us know. We plan on holding an election in the next month to find the initial board, who will oversee the process of founding the company and accepting membership applications. They will then call an AGM to formally elect a new board who after obtaining charitable status will start the fund raising, promotion and active support for the UK Wikimedian community for which the chapter is being founded.

You may also wish to attend the next London meet-up at which both of these issues will be discussed. If you can't attend this meetup, you may want to watch Wikipedia:Meetup, for updates on future meets.

Re your discussion with User:Fram, your edits about Green's drugs test would be better sourced from newspapers; check Google News, where you'll find plenty. Sources like BBC News or the International Herald Tribune will be viewed as more reliable than the website of a company that sells darts. Gordonofcartoon (talk) 05:12, 10 November 2008 (UTC)

Paco forever

Hi, I've got your compliments on my contribution to the Paco Menendez article. I came here to reply something like "you're welcome" but I stumbled upon your user boxes :-). How come a 25 year-old get to know Paco? I was there when La Abadia Del Crimen was the best game around, playing it on my MSX 1.0 machine (a Hot Bit from the Brazilian company Sharp)... But you were not even in your teens!!! Its nice that the new generation get to know and pay respect to those great programmers like Paco that did the impossible by using more creativity than resources to build great games!!! Of course, some people from that time are still creating AMAZING games, and the one I pay the utmost respect is Hideo Kojima... I still remember the first time I played Metal Gear on the MSX.... Alexander Rybak article improvement

Hear, hear. Thank you for deleting that unsourced piece about Alexander Rybak unable to play the violin. I should tell you that it kind of freaked me out a little bit reading it. Well when I read it the first thing I notice was that there were no references, such a claim requires a reference. I went to Google News, Yahoo! News, Sky News, BBC News and found nothing so I took it as vandalism so I removed it. Defenceman

Hello,

Please note that there have been some changes to operations surrounding Eurovision articles, these being that:

• Template names have now been standardised, for example Template:Countries in the Eurovision Song Contest and Template:Countries in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest have both been moved in order to be consistent. If you are planning to create a new template, please keep the standardised titles in mind.
• {{WikiProject Eurovision}} now accepts importance ratings as well as quality ratings, and the project now has a formal assessment department which gives details on how to assess articles, and provides a place for contributors to request re-assessment. Feel free to add the {{WikiProject Eurovision}} template to the talk page of any new Eurovision articles you create.
• The Eurovision Song Contest now has its own stub template at {{Eurovision-stub}}. Please only use this on Eurovision Song Contest stubs, with {{Music-stub}} and {{Dance-stub}} being the appropriate template for other Eruovision contests.

Project Eurovision RFC discussion reminder

It is easy for editors to get into conflict with each other, and things can get very nasty on the most trivial of issues, whether that be on the language of songs, the names of certain countries, or how we deal with incidents at the contest. In such circumstances it is worth remembering one thing: we are all here to build an encyclopedia, and the contribution of Eurovision to human knowledge can only be given justice if we work together and make articles, not drama! If you would like something to appear in the August 2012 Edition of the newsletter, then please inform us at the Project Newsdesk. If there is an article you think we should have? Request it here. Happy editing! Project News When creating new articles about a performer or song, please remember to add sources either from Eurovision.tv, ESCToday or other reliable sources. If you're not sure a source is reliable enough, then ask the project for an opinion. Remember to only add content to articles that is relevant to the article's main subject. Anything not in relation to the article may be questioned and/or subject to redirection to an article that would benefit it's inclusion. Again if in doubt, ask on the article or project talk pages for an opinion - communication is an important tool. On the subject of communication, please make use of the article talk pages. They are a vital tool in conducting consensus talks of additions of proposed new sections and/or removal of unnecessary section. If you don't use these pages to put across your views, then you only have yourself to blame if actions are taken that you disagree with and you end up wandering into edit warring territory. Eurovision Song Contest 2012 has been nominated for a Good Article review on 15 June 2012. Eurovision Song Contest - Sweden 2013 So far 20 countries have confirmed participation for the Eurovision Song Contest 2013, which is scheduled to take place in Sweden. Please remember to only cite reliable sources when adding countries to the article. The host city for Eurovision Song Contest 2013 has still not been announced. Gothenburg, Malmö, and Stockholm are among the candidate cities so far. Junior Eurovision Song Contest - Netherlands 2012 The tenth edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest is scheduled to take place on the 1 December 2012, in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Details about confirmed participation are slowly filtering out into the world wide web. Please cite reliable sources when including new information. The EBU extended the submission deadline to 29 June 2012. So far only 8 countries confirmed participations, and the contest needs a minimum of eleven in order for the show to continue. Bulgaria have withdrawn. Asiavision Song Contest - South Korea 2012 After several postponements, the first contest is now scheduled to take place in the South Korean capital of Seoul; on 14 October 2012. Could all members please find any reliable sources on participants etc, so that we can consider creating an article for this event. Eurovision Young Musicians - Austria 2012 On 11 May 2012, Norwegian, Eivind Holtsmark Ringstad, won the 16th Eurovision Young Musicians 2012, in Vienna, Austria. This is a biennial event, and the next contest will take place in 2014, with Vienna most likely to be the host nation for a fifth consecutive time. Eurovision Young Dancers - Norway 2011 The next contest is scheduled to take place in 2013 - the host city is expected to be announced towards the end of 2012. Eurovision Dance Contest - United Kingdom 2008 Glasgow were the hosts of the Eurovision Dance Contest 2008, and since then there have been no announcements of the contest continuing with a third edition.

Message from the Editorial Team Bienvenue! Willkommen! Welcome! The past month has been an eventful one for the project as a whole. Old dramas have closed, new ones have begun. Four articles nominated for GA review, three of them passed and promoted, with one of them making ProjectEurovision history by being the first annual contest article to ever achieve GA status. If it wasn't for the hard work and the many hours of team collaborations that we have endured on this project, then those accolades would never have been gained. Each of those article promotions are as a result of your continuous determination to be part of the best team this project has seen for a long time. There is a teamwork barnstar with this newsletter for you to cherish and you may display the award on your pages if you wish. Now we look to the months ahead and start preparations for Malmo 2013, and see if we can work to getting another annual article to GA status. Here's to you - the team of excellence. Project News Project 1 - Contest by year and contest related pages involves: A page for each year's contest Improving/maintaining all the contest related pages in the project. Project 2 - Contestants and songs involves: Creating a page for each contestant and song involved in the contest. Project 3 - "Country" in the contest involves: Creating a page for each participating country in the contest. This will give information about a country's efforts and achievements in Eurovision. Project 4 - "Country" in the contest "year" involves: Creating a page for each country participating in the contest each year. This will give information about the year in Eurovision for that country, like how the song was chosen (selection events), how well it did, any other information about its participation that year. Project 5 - Sourcing involves: On Wikipedia, it is very important not only to have the correct information, but to show where you got it from so it can be verified. Editor's should be finding additional sources to reference information with. This project also includes checking all similar pages to make sure things are consistent across the board and correcting any errors. A listing of pages marked for some sort of cleanup is available here. Please note that there have been some changes to operations surrounding Eurovision articles, these being that:

• Template names have now been modernised and/or megred into super-templates, for example Countries in the Eurovision Song Contest has now been merged into Template:Eurovision Song Contest making it even easier to find everything under one template. If you are planning to create a new template, please keep the standardised titles in mind. Other templates have been modernised and a full list of them can be found here.
• The Eurovision Song Contest and Junior Eurovision Song Contest articles have now been standardised to keep a consitancy throughout the project and to the genral reader too. Skeleton article drafts can be found for Eurovision Song Contest by Year and Junior Eurovision Song Contest by Year.

Remember that this project can only operate if we act in a cooperative manner and engage in discussions regarding article matters. It is seen as best practice to put forward ideas to other members of the project before rushing ahead and acting on a potential falsifying action. If you feel an article may warrant a deletion, why not test the waters by opening a discussion on the article's talk page or our very own project talk page - before rushing off and submitting an AfD. It saves wasting time nominating an article for deletion which could end up with an overwhelming "keep" by other editors. Communicating with each other is a vital tool and a skill that may prove advantageous in real-life scenarios. Also be on the look out for potential new members to the project. Post {{subst:EurovisionInvite}} (which will produced this template) on any user page you think is interested to join the WikiProject, to officially invite them to join. ABU Song Festivals - SEOUL 2012 Asiavision Pte's Our Sound: The Asia-Pacific Song Contest seems to have been indefinitely postponed. However, the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) are launching their own versions; which are not to be confused with Our Sound or Eurovision Song Contest. The "cultural extravaganza" concept may be the same, but the format is completely different. The Radio Festival will be competitive, while the TV Festival is just a showcase of music so is non-competitive. ABU Radio Song Festival 2012 - Twenty-six entries from sixteen countries took part in a preliminary selection round. Of those, fifteen have been selected and will perform in the first ABU Radio Song Festival on 11 October 2012. ABU TV Song Festival 2012 - Thirteen countries have confirmed participation in the first ABU TV Song Festival on 14 October 2012.

WikiProject Eurovision - Memorandum

Eurovision Mini Memorandum 30 June 2013 There are a couple of discussions taking place via the project talk page that require urgent attention from as many members as possible. These are... A new RfC has opened at Project Eurovision in regards to how "Country by Contest" articles such as Albania in the Eurovision Song Contest, Denmark in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest and Australia in the ABU Song Festivals will be stylised. Also there is an urgent discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Eurovision#Colour codes for last placings, which is discussing a matter in connection to chromostereopsis (blue text on red backgrounds). And finally, the newsdesk are looking to recruit a couple of project volunteers to assist in compiling the monthly newsletters, as one of the co-ordinators has taken an indefinite period of time away from Wikipedia due to personal reasons.
