Viktor Wallin moved to Draft:Viktor Wallin (draftspace) edit

Hi Tay87! An article you recently created, Viktor Wallin, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your article to Draft:Viktor Wallin, draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please follow the confirms on the Articles for Creation and put this {{subst:submit}} at the top of the article. If the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline, then a AfC reviewer will help you to move the draft article to mainspace. Also you can consider using the Article Wizard. You may want to read "Your first article". Happy editing! Siddiqsazzad001 <Talk/> 19:13, 26 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Siddiqsazzad001: I'm not doing any anything regarding submission until I consult you first, if this is going to be done it will be done correctly, cooperately and by the book. There is two more references added that at least PROVE the info is legitimate and not just plucked out of thin air. Oddly, he has an article on the German Wikipedia and that doesn't seem to have any citations either so...hmm. Please review and return to me and if it's still not worthy, to hell with it. Tay87 (talk) 00:27, 27 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Tay87: Hmm, much improved. It's ok if it biographical article stub but please this WP:BLP. Siddiqsazzad001 <Talk/> 01:05, 27 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Siddiqsazzad001: Well I guess someone accepted it overnight, so fine I carry on. Tay87 (talk) 10:47, 27 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Empty categories edit

Hello, Tay87,

Please do not create empty categories that contain no articles/pages. When there is a need for a category, it can be created. But empty categories on Wikipedia are deleted unless they are a redirect or the subject of a deletion discussion. Liz Read! Talk! 04:36, 24 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Liz: if you can, pleas forward me the categories of mine you deleted. It's possible that I created them with the intention of adding something to it but for some reason didn't. Let me know. Tay87 (talk) 10:20, 24 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

Category heads up edit

Hey just noticed for awhile you have been creating team categories for players in really low level leagues. Generally in such low level leagues until there are many players from a given team who have articles we put the players in the a league category first until there are enough to justify a subcategory for the team itself. -DJSasso (talk) 13:50, 4 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Djsasso: Sorry for trying. How many is many then? Tay87 (talk) 14:02, 4 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
No need to be sorry, I know it was all in good faith. I was just mentioning it because I had noticed it. There is no set amount. Really just use commonsense. For example, the one that caused me to mention it to you was you created a category for a Japanese team with one player in it. The league itself didn't even have a category yet with any players or subcategories as he was the only player on the wiki categorized as ever having played in the league. If I were to throw out a number I would probably say at least 5 but that is just my personal preference. -DJSasso (talk) 14:12, 4 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Djsasso: Ok, Sapporo was probably a mistake, I get that, just a case of trying too hard. But I see it all as a work in progress, a team may only have two players now but with rigorous searching there could be another six out there not categorised for that team, it's possible. And you mention that players are put into a league category? The Swiss league had a lot of players and most of the players are already in their team categories so I assumed there is no need for them to be in the league category anymore for that reason. I also assumed the league categories should only feature subcategories and players should only be placed in team subcategories, HENCE the creations. But I appear to have been misled. So again, sorry. I tried. Tay87 (talk) 14:21, 4 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
Yeah no you are right it is a work in progress. We are just both looking at it for two different sides. First you fill up the league category and then you break the league category down. Now of course if you are specifically going and looking from players from a given team and know you can find a number, they very much by all means create the category first instead of putting them in the league category. The Swiss league it does look like you are doing good work. Definitely needs to be cleaned up like you are doing. You are correct, you don't want to have a player in both the league and the team category. And in some higher end leagues where you know there will be enough players to make a category (like the Swiss league) then go ahead with creating the team category. I am more referring to those leagues where it is very unlikely you will find any other players, like leagues that are 3 or 4 levels down from the top leagues. Quite often people don't even bother to put those leagues on player pages because they aren't necessarily notable, but I have no idea where to draw that line in European/Asian leagues as compared to North America where its easy to draw the line between recreational/youth leagues and elite prospect/minor leagues. But keep up the work, what you are doing is great. -DJSasso (talk) 14:29, 4 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Djsasso: Thank you, I needed that. I actually did look for players for a category for SC Lyss in Switzerland. I saw a player for that team and thought “if I can find five or six more players on here that played for Lyss AND have an article then it justifies creating the category for”, and I found seven more, though I reckon Mike Posma's notability is a bit dodgy but then we know where my one attempt at filling an AfD went. I am aware, and have avoided, to creating cats for teams say in tier 4 because there was no point, but NLA and NLB I am down for. And it's not even called Nationalliga A anymore so the cat itself could do with a rename. But as I say, it's a work in progress, we'll just see how it all plays out. Pro Roller Hockey edit

Just noticed you have put up a number of professional roller hockey players using the ice hockey criteria as the reason for deletion. Don't forget people can be notable for more than one reason. They might not be notable for ice hockey but be notable in these cases for roller hockey which isn't covered by nhockey. Anyway just wanted to give you a heads up to be careful on watching for that. -DJSasso (talk) 17:53, 23 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Djsasso: Ah, you know what I never actually took roller hockey into account. Pardon my ignorance. In future if they have played roller hockey, specifically RHI, I will leave it as it is. Cheers for the heads up, appreciate it. Tay87 (talk) 21:06, 23 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Djsasso: now someone else has said they didn't play in the highest level of Roller Hockey and don't actually pass notability. Now I'm confused. Tay87 (talk) 07:48, 25 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
There are always people who will disagree, especially when it comes to athletes. People like to delete athletes whenever they can. But these players very clearly meet the line that says "The guidelines on this page are intended to reflect the fact that sports figures are likely to meet Wikipedia's basic standards of inclusion if they have, for example, participated in a major international amateur or professional competition at the highest level" (bold mine) Roller Hockey International is the highest professional league that has ever existed for inline roller hockey and was covered in the media quite a bit at the time. -DJSasso (talk) 10:46, 25 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Djsasso: The only two reasons for the nominations were they failed WP:NHOCKEY and because I was going through the articles Dolovis created and seeing which of those weren't notable, as clearly he created a lot of non-notable articles and from what I gather he created them knowing they weren't notable, he did it just because. I figured it was a long-overdue process of working our way through them one by one, if they are notable, leave them, if they aren't, nominate them, and that was entirely the process. Never once did I considered RHI when doing the AfDs. Safe to say I have been well and truly schooled. Tay87 (talk) 16:06, 25 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
Yeah articles created by Dolovis were a bit of an issue, he would find loop holes in NHOCKEY and create articles that clearly failed the spirit of the guideline but passed the wording of the guideline in alot of cases. Sometimes they clearly did meet NHOCKEY. For example it used to only take 200 games in any professional league no matter the level to get an article. So on multiple occasions the community came together and made the restrictions tighter and tighter to close any way he had to create them. That being said, most people didn't feel it was worth peoples time to go through all his creations to delete them. There has been the odd editor such as yourself that has come along now and again and nominated a tonne of them which is good to get done but I wouldn't let it burn you out. Mostly they people just nominate a few in sports. I usually pick a category of some very minor league team and go through them once in awhile to clean some up. I usually just use Wikipedia:Prod as opposed to full Afds though. -DJSasso (talk) 15:59, 26 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Djsasso: Well based on recent submissions going array, including the roller hockey pros, I am ceasing AfDs for a while. Now if I do come across one that clearly isn't notable I will jot him down for the future in case I ever get round to doing it again and should someone beat me to it, c'est la vie. But for now AfDs are not worth my time and especially my health. Tay87 (talk) 16:57, 26 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

Ice hockey players in Slovak Extraliga edit

Hello. I saw that you created many pages about ice hockey player and write some details about career. Can you help with players in Tipsport liga. I will write Career statistics. RafaelUk (talk) 20:01, 30 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

@RafaelUk: Yes the Slovak league is on my tasklist, especially for teams that have few players in their categories and ones I created, Dukla Michalovce for example. Remember that they must meet the WP:NHOCKEY criteria to be created (200 games for a skater and 90 games for a goalie), so they will be far less players than those who play in the Finnish Liiga for instance as they require just one game to be notable, but as long as they are notable I will create them. Hopefully I'll find players that pass #1 which means they're a lock for creation. Tay87 (talk) 20:08, 30 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

Yes, I understand criteria (200 games for a skater and 90 games for a goalie). I add players in lineups in other Slovak Extraliga teams, for example HKm Zvolen or others. I will help you. Mainly with Career statistics. RafaelUk (talk) 20:25, 30 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

@RafaelUK: that works with me because statistics I admit are not my forte unless it's minute. Tay87 (talk) 20:33, 30 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hello, sorry that I write you again. Can you help me please with players, who plays or played in the history of Slovak Extraliga, mainly with details about Career. I will add statistics. For example....players: Henrich Jaborník, Martin Kriška, Miroslav Pupák, Denis Pätoprstý, Juraj Šiška, Patrik Števuliak, Peter Ordzovenský, Jakub Sukeľ, Patrik Bačík, Michal Hlinka (ice hockey), Patrik Maier, Samuel Petráš (ice hockey), Jozef Tibenský, Roman Petrík, Tomáš Rusina, Rastislav Gašpar, Miloš Kelemen, Marcel Holovič, Patrik Rogoň, Juraj Jurík, Matúš Holenda, Janne Seppänen, Erik Embrich, Rasmus Hämäläinen, Marcel Petran, Michal Uhrík, Maroš Surový, Marco Halama, Calle Ackered, Janne Väyrynen, Brendan O'Donnell, Patrik Romančík, Patrik Luža, Denis Hudec, Mislav Rosandić, Ladislav Romančík, Marek Korenčík, Martin Bučko, Michal Mrázik, Jacob Cardwell, Róbert Varga (ice hockey), Samuel Baroš. RafaelUk (talk) 19:54, 10 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

@RafaelUK: Hi Rafael, yes I can certainly look into them provided I can find references for them. I actually have a list of “to create” but for one reason or another cannot at this time, the big reason being lack of references and I recognise Peter Ordzovensky from that list. But I shall definitely look into them and I appreciate you redlinking them, means I just have to click on them and away I go. Tay87 (talk) 19:59, 10 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
@RafaelUK: bit of a problem, I created Henrich Jaborník but it turns out he already had an article, Henrich Jabornik. Tay87 (talk) 23:04, 10 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Oh....sorry, it was my fault, but correctly in Slovak is Henrich Jaborník. You can copy this text and paste to article Henrich Jabornik....but it will be good to create redirect RafaelUk (talk) 00:18, 11 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

@RafaelUK: yes was advised to merge the two to the Jaborník article then direct. Going forward I will check the name in normal text as well and if an article exists I will redirectTay87 (talk) 09:26, 11 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Notability of Roller Hockey International players edit

I saw your comment at WT:NSPORTS. I want to let you know that I appreciate your efforts at cleaning up the hockey articles. I understand that it's not an easy job or one that gets you a lot of thanks, but it is an important task. I've been on WP for a while and I know that sometimes you just need to take a Wikibreak. Just come back when you're ready and know that some will welcome your return. I'm considered a deletionist and I've taken a lot of flak over the years. Don't take it personally (I know that's easier said than done) and remember editing WP should be a labor of love, not a source of stress. Papaursa (talk) 23:12, 3 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Papaursa: Thanks for this. Rest assure I'm not taking a break and I'm still very much active (although I probably do need one!) but AfDs are done, at least for the time being anyway. I had other things on my task force anyway and believe it or not AfDs wasn't one of them initially, so it's not like it's left me stuck. I am a bit frustrated about how the RHI situation turned out, I feel mislead, dare I say used, but I'm not prepared to start raging about it, it happened, all is left for me to do is accept it and move on. All I have and can do, is try. Tay87 (talk) 23:40, 3 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

IIHF eligibility rules edit

Being a junior in an IIHF event prohibits you from participating for another nation the same as if you did it when you were 40. As long as it is an official IIHF event is all that matters. Canada Cups and World Cups are different though. If you read the source at Pat Daley's article you would see that playing for a country meant you could never change, until 1987 when the German courts ruled against them, "At the time (1987), the IIHF refused to allow any player under any circumstance to represent more than one country." Now you have a four year waiting period with other stipulations as well. Were you thinking of a different sport perhaps?18abruce (talk) 23:43, 5 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

@18abruce: fair enough, knew I should have just left it alone and kept out of it. I'll revert it back. Tay87 (talk) 23:50, 5 November 2019 (UTC) EDIT - beat me to it.Reply
No worries at all, I reverted first, I always explain why in person when I revert. However you were right to change it so that it only displays France as the national team since the project's policy is to only list for men's participation. It may have been me who put both in, I make all kinds of mistakes, so thanks for fixing that.18abruce (talk) 01:17, 6 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Juha Suomaa edit

The article Juha Suomaa has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails WP:NHOCKEY and WP:GNG.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Henrich Jaborník no longer marked for speedy deletion edit

Hello. Per the notice you received above, a tag had been placed on Henrich Jaborník requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. Please note that after review, I have removed the deletion request so you do not need to worry about this page being speedily deleted. However, speedy deletion is not the only deletion processes on Wikipedia; my removal does not prevent users from invoking other, longer term deletion methods, such as for an article, proposing its deletion or nominating it at articles for deletion. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this.

Speedy deletion nomination of Josef Stříbrný edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Josef Stříbrný requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator.
