Your edit to Talk: Avatar: The Last Airbender.
Please do not arbitrarily remove or edit templates about an article's Good Article status. There is a review process wherein you can request its delisting if you feel it no longer qualifies, but removing the template will not remove the article from the list.--Fyre2387 (talk • contribs) 05:56, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
Membership in Avatar project
Sorry for adding my name out of step. However, it's generally stated that only members of the project can assess articles, and, as I assessed one or two, I wanted to be sure I was a member before I did so. My apologies if it was perceived incorrectly or presumptuous on my part. Badbilltucker 22:01, 26 December 2006 (UTC)
Image copyright problem with Image:AangAvatarState.jpg
Thank you for uploading Image:AangAvatarState.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. MECU≈talk 01:37, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
Orphaned fair use image (Image:AvatarShowIntro.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:AvatarShowIntro.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Notability of The Corrao Q
A tag has been placed on The Corrao Q requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.
For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. JohnCD 18:04, 28 October 2007 (UTC)

You have promoted Pi to GA class without notifying me or discussing it with me. I must note that this is a violation of WP guidelines. I urge you to refrain from these kind of actions. Regards, Daimanta 13:07, 11 November 2007 (UTC)

GA Sweeps
I'm sorry to inform you that participation in GA Sweeps is only available by invitation only. Only experienced reviewers who are established (trusted) within the project should participate in this initial sweep because the point is to target articles that have "fallen through the cracks", so we can't have any fall through the cracks during this. As I read through your talk page, I found that you haven't firmly understand the GA criteria. I would like to ask you to read through it before doing GA assessment. Aang/Archive Topics
A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Aang/Archive Topics, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you endorse deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of the page. -- pb30<talk> 18:16, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
I just noticed your addition of an Indexerbot subpage parameter to the template. After trying to tweak and clarify the instructions you had provided in the manual (with particular focus on usability for new and less tech-savvy users), it finally occurred to me that this parameter is really rather pointless. Anyone who wants to include a link to an Indexerbot subpage (or in fact any other link) can easily do so manually, which is less confusing and requires no further explanation. Please don't take this personally, your efforts of contributing to the template are commendable. However, I removed the parameter. |dorftrottel |talk 19:23, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
Your VandalProof Application
Thank you for your interest in VandalProof, Parent5446. As you may know, VP is a very powerful program, and in fact the just released 1.3 version has even more power. Because of this we must uphold strict protocols before approving a new applicant. Regretfully, I have chosen to decline your application at this time. The reason for this is that: you have less than 250 mainspace edits. Please note it is nothing personal by any means, and we certainly welcome you to apply again soon. Hello Re: Aang
I must sincerely dispute your reversion of my edit to Aang As I said in the historical comment, the general description is not served well by overspecifity. The general description shouldn't be heavy on detail in the first place. Aang's flight from the temple is an exposition dump regarding his personal trauma better confined to his history, as Zuko's Agni Kai would be in his.
All the general description needs to reveal is that he is the last. His histroy can elaborate. And we really shouldn't open the door to a laundry list of Aang's notable companions in his intro. Toph, Appa and Momo would be worth a mention too, but they'd weigh it down. Please consider saving mention of his companions for the main body of the article.
This page has multiple reiterations of information, rendering portions redundant and plagued by trivia. Some of it really needs to be culled and kept on episode specific pages or confined to one mention in an appropriate subsection instead of retyped multiple times. Ideally, I'd like to see a much less bloated article. Buinne 21:44, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

For a good example on what a fictional character's biography should look like, please see Padmé Amidala. It is a FA about a fictional character should be the skeleton about which you base your article. Second, you should mention it again in a new section on the talk page so people have a fresh reminder. I just moved Season 2 to mainspace. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Regarding your edit(s) to Template:Infobox Television, it is recommended that you use the preview button before you save; this helps you find any errors you have made, and prevents clogging up recent changes and the page history. Thank you. I've reverted your edit because it placed the infobox in the centre of the page. Please check in future that your edits won't break things like that. Hello. I did not intend to experiment, but I may have been lax in my judgement about what was useful for the page on Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei. - Thanks for the kind words on BC's talk page. This is the second article I've significantly contributed to that has gotten to GA. In addition, this particular article was at one time so bad, it was downgraded from B to Start. That's when I took it on, and now it seems like you're saying that it has FA-potential. Is that what you're saying, Parent? 'Cause due to the feedback, I'm thinkin' that it's too short or that it doesn't have enough references. I was beginning to think that the most we can expect from it is A-status. I was wondering if you could take some time out of your schedule to head over to the Heroes (TV series) talkpage and give us an honest peer review. The page has gone through some major changes in the last few months, and it would be fantastic if a prominent editor/contributor like yourself, could head over and give us at the Heroes Wikiproject some sound opinion and ideas on improvements for the page. We have all worked very hard at improving the page, and we need great outside, reliable and trustworthy users to come over and help us improve. I you are interested in joining the peer review discussion with other prominent users/contributors, much like yourself, please follow the link. Aang 1
Good job on the article. I just noticed a few issues:
- There is a considerable amount of overlinking that should be corrected per WP:CONTEXT#What generally should not be linked
- "Avatar" looks like it should be lowercased, per its category
- Why are there two different quote formats on the article?
- Thoughts? Please reply below here or on Aang's talk if you so choose, I am watching both. Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 17:53, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

Parent, I voted for Aang's improvement even before I saw that you had nominated Blue's Clues for FA. I must admit, I was surprised that you had done that. Based on your previous feedback, I had pretty much accepted that it wasn't gonna go any farther than GA. It'll be interesting to see what feedback it gets for improvement. Good luck getting help with Aang. I'd help, but I know very little about Avatar and/or anime. I know someone who does, though; perhaps I can get her help. --Figureskatingfan (talk) 05:37, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

This has been discussed and approved in an AN/I discussion. PLease do not place a speedy tag on an article again. This constitutes as vandalism. BC FAC
Parent, thanks for your efforts in improving this article. It's okay that it will probably fail; it's a long way from being ready, I think. I also think that in addition to a copyedit, it needs to be fleshed out, which needs additional research. I'm in the middle of other projects, in addition to my own normal real-life (Kids! Work! Married life!), so it may be about a week before I can tackle it. I'm in the middle of writing a new article (Gather Together in My Name) to fulfill my personal goal of getting one of my articles on DYK, and I'm dedicated to getting The Wiggles to FA. We can try again with BC in the near future, so don't sweat it. Good luck with Aang, but make sure that your Wiki-activities remain fun. --Figureskatingfan (talk) 04:35, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

Help with Aang
Parent, I had my friend look at Aang, and she gave some positive feedback. As I promised, I will try and copyedit it, perhaps later on today. I don't know anything about the topic, but perhaps I can make some suggestions to improve the article. Hope all goes well with your goals with this article. --Figureskatingfan (talk) 18:51, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:EverySunday-Film-1.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:EverySunday-Film-1.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:29, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
Speedy deletion of Image:EverySunday-Film-1.jpg
A tag has been placed on Image:EverySunday-Film-1.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I5 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image which is not under a free license or in the public domain and it has not been used in any article for more than seven days.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:Image:EverySunday-Film-1.jpg|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Research on the RFA process
Hello, I am an anthropology student researching the Wikipedia Requests for adminship procedure. As you recently voted in this process, I was wondering if you would be willing to answer a few quick questions.
- Do you believe that the current RFA process is an effective way of selecting admins?
- Do you notice a difference between users who are nominated vs selfnoms?
- Is a week an appropriate length for process? Should it perhaps be longer or shorter?
- Do you think the user's status in the community changes while the user is undergoing the RFA process? How about after the RFA process is over?
- Was the candidate Q&A beneficial in helping you choose to support the candidate?
If you are willing, please leave your answers on my talk page or e-mail them to me.
This research will not be published academically, as this research is primarily to demonstrate the feasibility of doing online ethnography in online only communities such as Wikipedia, though I intend to make my findings available on Wiki. Your name will not be associated with any information you provide in any published work. If you have any questions please let me know. Thank you. --Cspurrier (talk) 18:46, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for your reply. Would you mind doing me a favor about the article? Maximillion Pegasus (talk) 22:58, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
- I need a minor favor. Trim the Book 3 part of the Plot overview section? I have not seen hardly any of Book 3 and I don't think I would do a good job. Maximillion Pegasus (talk) 03:04, 26 February 2008 (UTC)

You editted Hunt class minesweeper (1916) (and other Royal Navy ship articles) with the effect that all the redlined ship links were removed. This is not helpful, as we are trying ultimately to create pages for every RN ship. Redlinks provide a vital prompt to the pages that are needed. I have reverted your changes; other elements of what you did may well have been valuable. Many of the redlinks had already been created to disambiguate the precise ship in question, and this info would have been lost. Welsh (talk) 07:36, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

Possible socks?
After comparing the edits, does it occur to you that 24.20.139.7 (talk · contribs), 71.203.120.138 (talk · contribs) and Hippie-Man-Duddly (talk · contribs) could be one and the same person? I think there are socks attacking the Aang page. Please reply on your talk. Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 21:12, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
- You might be right. I am thinking that I will let it be unless he continues to make his destructive edits. One more violation and I file a request for checkuser to see what IP his three registered accounts are using and then file a sockpuppet report. For now, though, I want to see if he will change his ways. If he makes one bad edit, immediately leave a note on my talk page and notify Rauj too (this is so people know to be on the lookout). Parent5446(Murder me for my actions) 02:53, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
- If he makes his mark again, click here. A "Move page" screen will come up and just move the page to Wikipedia:Requests for checkuser/Case/Walter Mellon Head. Just one thing, the first line of the page is commented out right now since it is in my userspace and I do not want an actual Request for checkuser in my userspace. So just uncomment the first line AFTER moving. This is only is I do not file the request first. Parent5446(Murder me for my actions) 03:51, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
- Got it. Should the people who also dealt with Walter Mellon Head be contacted? My memory is vague on who else was present, I think Rauj was there though. Thoughts? Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 08:16, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
- Decided to tag them as sock suspects. Honestly, the editing pattern is identical, yet, if by any chance they're not the same person, they can still be classified as impersonators. (PS: I've watchlisted these individuals, you should do the same, but it depends on you). Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 08:30, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

My RfB
I wanted to personally thank you, Parent, for your participation in my recent RfB. I have heard the community's voice that they require more of a presence at RfA's of prospective bureaucrats, and I will do my best over the near future to demonstrate such a presence and allow the community to see my philosophy and practices in action. I am thankful and appreciative that in general, the community feels that I am worthy of the trust it requires of its bureaucrats, and I hope to continue to behave in a way that maintains your trust in me and my actions. I hope that over the near future, you will become comfortable and satisfied with my understanding of the particulars and subtleties inherent in the RfA process, and that I may be able to count on your support when I decide to once again undergo an RfB. If you have any suggestions, comments, or constructive criticisms, please let me know via talkpage or e-mail. Thank you again. -- Avi (talk) 17:46, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

Aang 3
I didn't get a chance to return to Aang until now when you seem to have closed its peer review, but I applaud you on taking up the suggestions I made. There are a few other nuances that exist within it, but nothing that I can really jump on and say "this is what it is", nor can I suggest what could be done in those cases anyway. I'd suggesting getting somebody else who's experienced in similar articles (look at the edit history in pages like Dragonball, Voltron, Robotech, Akira, or more importantly, their subpages, and see who's made the most valuable contributions. Generally they'll be able to give you some info on what to do. Generally, my area is in musically relevant areas, but you asked me nicely. ;) Good luck with the article. It's looking great and now is well deserving of being in the middle of GA class. --rm 'w avu 09:31, 14 March 2008 (UTC)

There wasn't a further concern with the animationinsider, I hit an edit conflict and missed that you'd replied anything. I've struck it now. The last concern is more something I'm deferring to Sandy on. Personal opinion is its okay, but Sandy's the expert. If you can replace it, it wouldn't hurt, but on my side, I'm satisfied. I'm just not sure enough to declare decisively that it's a RS. Ealdgyth - Talk 23:43, 14 March 2008 (UTC)

RfA
Hi Parent (which is weird saying, since you are not my Parent :)), I would like to know if you would accept my nomination of you to be an Administrator in the future. You are a great contributor and I believe you would do great at an RfA. I just have one concern, edit count. Once you reach over 4,000-4,500 edits, I would like to nominate you. Also, what is you favorite bending (Avatar bending)? Maximillion Pegasus (talk) 02:20, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
- I would happily accept a nomination (once my edits go up more). The reason I do not nominate myself is that I did not actually think I was of good status (believe it or not, I might have nominated myself up to a year from now!). Either way, I will accept when the time comes. As for my favorite bending, I think that air would have to be the best. This is mainly because: a) Air is the least destructive (one could argue, though, that waterbending is), b) Air is everywhere, while there are times when there is no Earth or no water (though Fire is as available as Air is), and c) Aang uses airbending and Aang is pretty much my favorite character. Happy editing. (Just if you ever wondered, my grand plan for the Avatar WikiProject was to make a Featured Topic of all of the main characters, or at least most of them). — Parent5446 (t n c e m l) 02:25, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
- I would have to agree with you that air is the least destructive and the most defensive. My favorite, though, is Earthbending. Is the most balanced between attack and defense and I, well..just love it. Firebending is almost completely attack and Airbending is almost completely defense, though one could argue that Waterbending is best balanced between attack and defense. But I like all of the bending arts and do not believe one is the best, but they are all equal and victory is determined by the individual bender, not what they bend. I will keep an eye on your edit count, not trying to cause editcountitis (if I spelled that right). Maximillion Pegasus (talk) 02:38, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
- You do have a valid argument there. In fact, I think you have thoroughly convinced me that no bending is the best. However, Aang is still my favorite character (there is no changing that, :) ). — Parent5446 (t n c e m l) 02:53, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
- I am glad to here that (the bending) :) And I wasn't trying to change you mind about Aang :) I really don't know who my favorite character is. Maybe Toph. I also like Roku and Bumi. Aang and Sokka too. I can't decide. Also, do you know where online I could watch the recap of the first season episode. It was narrated by Roku's voice actor. Maximillion Pegasus (talk) 03:00, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
- I know that you can pretty much watch any episode at WatchAvatar. — Parent5446 (t n c e m l) 03:08, 22 March 2008 (UTC)

One, i do not know what that is. Two, the article does need to be looked over, it has fallen prey to a lot of petty vandalism over time, and which has resulted in a loss in quality of the overall article. Rau's talk 02:26, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

Aang
Some questions:
- Is there any need to specify that Aang is fictional? Is there any doubt? Fictional character might be "redundant" info.
- If Aang is the pro-(t)-agonist, who is his ant(i)-agonist? Who frustrates his purposes?
- If he is the "main" protagonist (a slightly unusual usage), what common purposes does he share with co-protagonists?
In Skooby Doo, it's a bit hard to pick a protagonist, it's not Skooby, it's more the team. They're always opposed by someone or other, or rather, they are the antagonists of a variety of villains. Superman and Bond have a series of regular enemies. They're solo, so more typical of a protagonist, but really, their whole raison de etre is to fight villains. Villany doesn't always combat them personally, rather it serves as a foil to develop their characters.
I'm being very fussy on this one. I know common usage simply views protagonist as a formal literary English synonym for main character. In the Wiki context, though, I think we should probably just keep it simple —
Aang is the main character (or one of the main characters) in Avatar: .... Avatar is an animated ... produced by Nicleodeon.
There's style preference in these things, it's not an exact science. In general, I like short sentences. So do most people.
The thing is, I think most of us think in long sentences (most educated people certainly speak in long sentences). The trick is to adapt thoughts to a written medium. Short seems to work. Probably because there's no intonation or body language to keep receivers on board.
By the way, short is possibly the wrong description. Simple is a better description. A compound sentence with four sub-clauses can be very clear and concise. Rewritten as a short paragraph, it often takes more words. Psychologically, however, for many readers, short paragraphs of short sentences with short words, even if they take twice as long to read, will seem "short". They mean simple, but say short or concise.
I'm in Australia, and need to sleep just now. I think your prose is fine. Your content is excellent. I bet I'm going to find the only problem is your vocab is high register and your sentence construction full of educated grammatical structures. Those things are fine (but not necessary) in an academic article, but encyclopedia entries often try to encompass the widest possible readership, hence the simplest possible use of English vocab and structure.
Anyway, enough philosophy of Encyclopedia English, I'm only one opinion anyway.
Great article and I'll get back to work tomorrow.

- Excellent! I always prefer development to deletion. I've done some (what I consider) tidying of the new text. My only reservation is that the source you cite for vegetarianism is fine, but I'm not sure it is the "core" text for vegetarianism. As I understood it, vegetarianism is a consequence of ahimsa, as described in the Buddhist pancasila (five ethical rules). How can one eat meat without something being killed? If we are against violence, we are against taking life. If we are against taking life, we cannot eat meat. I am not sufficiently familiar with the huge range of Buddhist scriptures to be sure where the most authoritative references to vegetarianism can be found. It is important we find these, to give due respect to Buddhism. Christians believe Jesus rose from the dead, is very poorly referenced if we cite Cardinal John Doe of Boston, Boston Herald July 4, 1969; or for that matter, if we cite Augustine of Hippo. Neither are the citations a Christian would give to verify their doctrine.
- I'll poke around to see if I can find a reference I'm more comfortable with. Yours is good, I just want the best! ;) Alastair Haines (talk) 03:41, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

Aang edits
I don't know who keeps removing the fiction part, since WP:WAF tells us to make clear of fiction in articles. I reinserted this bit, could you see if it needs re-wording? And whatever happened to mentioning the air scooter ability which enables him to fly? Please respond on your talk, or on Talk:Aang. Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 03:41, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
- You might wanna also check out ref #18. Seems it was destroyed during some copy-editing. Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 06:30, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
A user said that the phrase is redundant because it is automatically assumed that if the character is in a TV Show that he is a fictional character. The user also said that "main protagonist" was a kind of confusing term considering the definition of protagonist, which would be main character. There is a full explanation on this page a couple of sections up. — Parent5446 (t n c k e l) 12:06, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
- That answers my first query. What happened to his flight and martial art abilities? They're the source for the categories. Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 18:23, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
- I think I may have accidentally removed them because they were not sourced properly. You can add them back in if you want. — Parent5446 (t n c k e l) 19:29, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
- If I could find them. Don't know about the martial art statements but "The Air Scooter" didn't have to be cited, as it was wiki-linked to its referenced article. Couldn't you just re-include it? Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 19:35, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
- Did you glance at this edit summary of mine? The fiction guidelines specifically say that the prose is to be written in present day format. Does the rest of the article do this? Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 20:05, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
- I am not sure. I converted it at one point but I came back over vacation and found the article messed up a little. I will have to look over it. — Parent5446 (t n c k e l) 20:10, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
- I have now re-watchlisted the page, may be worth it after all. Is this edit ok? Oh, and how you done the remaining fixes? Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 04:14, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
- The first part is OK. I am worried about the second part because we do not know which methods of flight he prefers, nor do we have a source for it. As for the tense, I went over the article and only found one or two issues that I fixed. Everything should be OK now. If you want to take a look you can, but I think its OK now. — Parent5446 (t n c k e l) 14:54, 29 March 2008 (UTC)

- Actually, it is all my business. Anything on Wikipedia must be notable, meaning everybody should know what it is. See WP:FORUM, WP:NOTBLOG, WP:IINFO, WP:NOWRITE, WP:N, and WP:WMD. More importantly, if you do not read an of those, at least read WP:NFT, which applies specifically to your situation. Also, see WP:CIVIL, it describes how you should not come to a user's talk page and scream random insults like "YOU FREAK", etc. — Parent5446 (t n c k e l) 19:47, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:AangAvatarState.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:AangAvatarState.jpg.
Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:02, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

Toph the Guardian?
When you put Toph's position in the show as Guardian what do you mean? Wouldn't it make more sense to classify Toph by her role in the series such as a supporting or major character? I also noticed that the character Katara is also classified as Guardian. Please clear this up if possible. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kurowoofwoof111 (talk • contribs) 17:05, 26 May 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, it is a really confusing topic. I put it there because I was looking around one day and found a list of archetypes. The list was protagonist, antagonist, guardian, reason, etc. all with definitions. However, I forgot where I found the list. I think it would be best to change it to something like "supporting character", etc. until we find something better. — Parent5446 (t n e l) 17:19, 26 May 2008 (UTC)

Your deletion request on Image:Gordon Parks High School (Griggs).JPG
Just two quick heads up on this. 1. In the united states, copyright to photos of buildings are held by the person who took the photo, not the architect of the building. There is nothing wrong with taking a picture of a building and posting it. Also, if you want an image that is on wikimedia commons deleted, you need to put the deletion request there. --Selket Talk 20:14, 26 May 2008 (UTC)

Dear Parent5446: I noticed that today the Usertalkback template started adding an extra --> after itself on my talk page, and using Special:Whatlinkshere to spot-check, I was able to determine that was the case with all user talk pages transcluding the template. In looking at the diff, here, of your new feature, I saw that you removed a line that read "<!--FROM 'subst:Usertalkback' VERSION 1.7 (2007.11.20)--><!--", but left the line after that line that had the close comment html (-->) and the close of the <includeonly> tag. As such, there was an extra bit of html closing a comment whose open tag no longer existed. This was the cause of the display bug. I went ahead and updated the template, and the bug is gone, but I wanted to let you know you had introduced it and that I had gone ahead and fixed it. Thanks. ⇔ ∫ÆS dt @ 00:55, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

- I encourage you to read WP:V, Wikipedia's main policy on verifiability. It clearly states that Wikipedia is not based on truth but sources. If you put something into an article that is not sourced, no matter how true it may be, it will be removed. Furthermore, putting sources in is quite easy. All you have to do is type <ref>{{cite XXX|.....}}</ref>, replacing XXX with something like 'web', 'episode', or 'news', depending on what you are citing, and replacing ..... with parameters such as '|title=Avatar |url=http://avatarrocks.com', etc. One other thing, sources also have to be reliable. To find out more about that, read WP:RS. One more thing, whenever you leave a comment on anybody or an article's talk page, put ~~~~ at the end to add a signature saying who made the comment. — Parent5446 ☯ (message email) 15:19, 23 June 2008 (UTC)

question
how do you post pictures of people or thingson a page (ex: a picture of momo for his wiki page) sincerly, avatar aang of the southern air temple
- You see, users are allowed to upload pictures when they become "autoconfirmed". See Wikipedia:Established users. All this means is that you probably have to wait a couple of days. Once that happens, you should see an "Upload file" link in the toolbox part of your sidebar. — Parent5446 ☯ (message email) 11:44, 24 June 2008 (UTC)

Adding a reference to an article
Thanks for welcoming me to Wikipedia. I use it often. I know this is not your issue, but please redirect me to the area where I can add a reference book to an article.
DavidS6083 (talk) 02:18, 30 June 2008 (UTC)Davids6083
- Hey DavidS6083. If you want to add a reference of a book to an article, it is quite simple. First, find the specific place where you need to place the reference (see WP:V about the overall policy on referencing). Then, click the "edit" link next to that section, or press "edit this page" at the top of the page. When the edit page comes up, follow the instructions on Template:Cite book to put a {{Cite book}} template in. Usually, it looks something like this:
The first man on the moon was Louis Armstrong.<ref name="Book1">{{Cite book|last=Armstrong|first=Louis|editor=Foo Bar|edition=2nd|chapter=7|pages=227-228|title=Louis Armstrong: A Self-Written Story}}</ref>
- There are other parts if necessary, such as |isbn= if the book has an ISBN number, etc. Hope this helped you. — Parent5446 ☯ (message email) 21:31, 30 June 2008 (UTC)
Spirit World
What ever happened to the plans for the Spirit World article? I was surprised to see it even existed, and when I looked at the AfD, it said merge. But it never happened. Do you know why? Rau's Speak Page 17:21, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
- Well, I was a little caught up with the whole Bending article merge that I did not have time yet. The merge is between all the nations article and the Spirit World article, so I need to trim each article selectively before text dumping and fixing everything. — Parent5446 ☯ (message email) 22:56, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
- Oh, okay. I thought it was just abandoned. I figured I'd ask before doing anything to it. Rau's Speak Page 03:36, 3 July 2008 (UTC)

Featured Topic
haha169 thinks that if we can bring the main list back to FL, Avatar: The Last Airbender (season 3) up to GA, and either Avatar: The Last Airbender (season 1) or Avatar: The Last Airbender (season 2) up to FA, then we can get a featured topic on this subject. Current Status:
- Avatar: The Last Airbender (season 3)
- Avatar: The Last Airbender (season 1)
- Avatar: The Last Airbender (season 2)
- Avatar: The Last Airbender (season 3)
Required Status:
- Avatar: The Last Airbender (season 3)
- or Avatar: The Last Airbender (season 1)
- or Avatar: The Last Airbender (season 2)
- Avatar: The Last Airbender (season 3)
- I don't know how up to speed you are yet, but I wanted to make certain that you got this. I figure once the heat cools down it'll be easier. And I see you are already working on Season 3. Rau's Speak Page 02:15, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
- Believe it or not (I have this on my userpage), that was actually my plan the whole time. The only thing is that don't we need 5 articles for a featured topic. If so, we can just get the main list and the main article to FL and FA respectively, and leave the season articles at GA for now. — Parent5446 ☯ (message email) 21:27, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
- Well, we are pretty close to having the list at FL, just a few more minor changes and we'll implement the new version. It looks so nice. But the way Haha put it, it only focused on the lists. I don't think the main article was considered. But that shouldn't be too hard. Rau's Speak Page 21:39, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
- Actually, I checked. I was wrong on needing five. It would probably be best to only use the episode articles, since they more clearly related. OK, everything checks out. I just copyedited the season 3 episode summaries, and I'm going to rewrite the lead before PR. — Parent5446 ☯ (message email) 22:07, 21 July 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Aang and Momo-Fire Background.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Aang and Momo-Fire Background.jpg.
Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:04, 19 August 2008 (UTC)

Motto of the day
Hello, I notice you're using one of the {{motd}} templates, run by Wikipedia:Motto of the day. You may have noticed that some of the mottos recently have been followed by a date from 2006, or on occasion simply "Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia". The reason for this is that Motto of the day is in some very serious need of help. Participation in the project, which has never been especially high, has dropped considerably over this past summer, to the point we have had several days where no motto was scheduled to appear at all. Over the past several weeks, I've been the only editor scheduling mottos at all, but there aren't enough comments on some of these mottos to justify their use. If we do not get some help - and soon - your daily mottos will stop. In order for us to continue updating these templates for you, we need your help.
When you get a chance between your normal editing, could you stop by our nominations page and leave a few comments on some of the mottos there, especially those that do not have any comments yet? This works very simply; you read a motto, decide whether or not you like it, and post your opinion just below the motto. That's it - no experience required, just an idea of what you personally like and what you feel reflects Wikipedia and its community. If you do have past experience with the project, then please close some of the older nominations once they've got a decent consensus going. There are directions on the nominations page on how to do this.
If you have any questions, please let me know, or post on the project's talk page. I'm looking forward to reading your comments on the suggested mottos, and any additional suggestions you'd like to make. Until then, happy editing! Hersfold (t/a/c) 03:40, 4 September 2008 (UTC)
So, this just a friendly notice to let you know that the FLC failed as no consensus. I'm planning to renominate again soon though, and I was wondering if you could contribute to a review of the article before I do so. NuclearWarfare contact meMy work 19:26, 10 September 2008 (UTC)

GA Sweeps invitation
Hello, I hope you are doing well. I am sending you this message since you are a member of the GA WikiProject. I would like to invite you to consider helping with the GA sweeps process. Sweeps helps to ensure that the oldest GAs still meet the criteria, and improve the quality of GAs overall. Unfortunately, last month only two articles were reviewed. This is definitely a low point after our peak at the beginning of the process when 163 articles were reviewed in September 2007. After nearly two years, the running total has just passed the 50% mark. In order to expediate the reviewing, several changes have been made to the process. A new worklist has been created, detailing which articles are left to review. All exempt and previously reviewed articles have already been removed from the list. Instead of reviewing by topic, you can consider picking and choosing whichever articles interest you.
We are always looking for new members to assist with the remaining articles, so if you are interested or know of anybody that can assist, please visit the GA sweeps page. In addition, for every member that reviews 100 articles or has a significant impact on the process, s/he will get an award when they reach that threshold. If only 14 editors achieve this feat starting now, we would be done with Sweeps! Of course, having more people reviewing less articles would be better for all involved, so please consider asking others to help out. Feel free to stop by and only review a few articles, something's better than nothing! Take a look at the list, and see what articles interest you. Let's work to complete Sweeps so that efforts can be fully focused on the backlog at GAN. If you have any questions about the process, reviewing, or need help with a particular article, please contact me or OhanaUnited and we'll be happy to help. --Happy editing! I have reverted you're edit to Wikipedia:Essays, because I think that the page should redirect to a policy or guideline about, essays, not an essay about essays. Just thought I should let you know.--Emmette Hernandez Coleman (talk) 00:01, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
