Proposed deletion of The Caper Chronicles

The article The Caper Chronicles has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No reliable independent sources to indicate any notability for this web series. Only sources are the authors, the company that supported it, and the student newspaper from the University where it originated. No Google News sources at all, and no reliable independent sources could be found through a normal Google search either.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Fram (talk) 08:41, 16 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion declined: The Quigley

Hello Parent5446. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of The Quigley, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: The article is not about person, group or company therefore A7 does not apply. Suggest WP:PROD or WP:AFD. Thank you. Nancy talk 15:45, 14 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Woops, sorry about that. I must have read it over too fast and mistook it for something else. Thanks for noticing though. — Parent5446 (message email) 17:03, 14 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for updating my refs. Aside from bare-bones referencing, I've never been able to figure out/rememeber all the useful fields...  X  S  G  18:59, 14 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

No problem, it's just one of my pet peeves not having references in templates. Usually I just copy the example of Template:Cite web or Template:Cite news and copy stuff in. — Parent5446 (message email) 19:02, 14 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Line breaks

Okay, I don't understand why people can't use line breaks..The text reads, "Foundation Place (Date)"..meanwhile,your version has the date which appears to be drooping down off the first line and partially on the second....the line break keeps that info on its own line, making it look neat and where everything can be read on a single line. Thats all. Please keep it the way it is. Tinton5 (talk) 19:51, 27 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

You are now a Reviewer

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 02:31, 16 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Camry Hybrid

Hi. This is just to let you know that considering that your main argument is that both pieces look the same, I think that you might have been misled by the fact that during these two weeks of discussion here, OSX has been moving little by little a good deal of the original content in the Camry Hybrid article to the new article Toyota Camry (XV40) and yesterday he trimmed it so now they both look the same. Just check the history of both articles beginning June 12 to confirm. If you still believe they should be merged, it is fine, I just want to make sure you were aware of this fact.-Mariordo (talk) 03:35, 26 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Interview request: The newbie experience, revert communication and $10 to the WMF

I'm concluding the study related to the NICE user script (that you installed at some point), and I'd like to ask you some questions about your experiences with and ideas about Wikipedia. The questions will be related to how you interact with new editors and the way you communicate when reverting. The chat should take about 45 minutes to an hour and can happen over phone, voip(skype) or instant messenger(gtalk, ICQ, AIM, etc.). As thanks for your time, I'll donate $10 (US) to the Wikimedia foundation at the completion of the interview. If you are interested or need more information, please let me know. --EpochFail(talk|work) 16:52, 20 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

List of minor Airbender characters

I also doubt the page will hold, given the current view being taken of such pages, but the speedy deletion criteria are interpreted literally, and you'll have to take it to AfD. I suggest though you give the author a few days first to try to find references. Who knows--maybe something's been published. I've seen stranger. DGG ( talk ) 21:56, 31 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thanks DGG. I was just a little overzealous since I already spent so much time convincing everybody to delete the last minor characters articles. Also to be frank, I don't think I've ever used the G4 criteria before, which probably accounts for my inexperience. — Parent5446 (msg email) 22:36, 31 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
no problem. The question is how to provide information without excessive details. I'd support a list with one sentence of identification for each, but certainly nothing more. I don't like to edit these down, though, as I don't know the series. DGG ( talk ) 22:41, 31 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

I'd like to say that even though we disagreed about the worthiness of the article, it was thanks to your efforts that pointed out many of the flaws in it. If it weren't for your pushing, I wouldn't have tried to find good third-party sources for the article such as an episode review, like this one which basically gives a plot summary of an episode. http://www.denofgeek.com/television/410190/avatar_the_last_airbender_episode_5_review.html While I don't have the time to comb through every episode, this opens the door for other editors to contribute :)---CodeHydro 03:20, 1 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Merge discussion

I am sorry if I came out like a nuisance or something with the merge discussion. It also looks like it's a dead conversation now with no clear discussion. Good luck on figuring what template look looks best. That was a tough one for me so I just left it be. Jhenderson777 (talk) 18:08, 3 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

It's no problem. I was involved in many similar discussions, such as when the List of Avatar: The Last Airbender major secondary characters was up for deletion, or when we merged all the episode article, or when we merged all the bending articles. Each time, it was always a struggle because in-universe or not, the articles have content, and many editors are not willing to let go of it, and for good reasons too! As for your behavior, I believe you acted like any other protective editor would in the same situation, but thanks for apologizing. Happy editing! — Parent5446 (msg email) 22:38, 3 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

google criticism

hello,

you renamed/removed google criticism section. i don't think that is good. also, readTalk:Google#Why_is_there_no_criticism_section.3F_There.27s_certainly_lots.

for example, yahoo has extensive Yahoo!#Criticism_and_controversy. an article without it doesn't do justice to NPOV principle.

regards.

ps. you can respond here, i will see it... 89.216.196.129 (talk) 07:34, 11 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hey, sorry to respond so late. I've been on vacation for the past few days. Anyway, the reason we removed the Criticism section is because it tends to encourage POV. You could either single out all the controversial information about a company, or distribute it throughout the article. The latter is more appropriate for a number of reasons. Firstly, when criticism is bunched up in one section, it is much more likely that POV tone will find its way in. Furthermore, a separate criticism section is actually counterproductive to a prospective reader. If a reader comes looking for info on Google's products, they'll come to the Google article, and go to the Products section. They read a little, find out all the great things about Google, but they never hear the other side, they never hear the criticism, because it's not there. By distributing the criticism, it will always be found by the reader, and the reader will always hear all sides of the story, thus preserving NPOV. — Parent5446 (msg email) 18:41, 13 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

PR template

This edit [1] broke the template because you added spaces in a place where the parser is reading an external link, so part of the link was used as a description.

In general, the best practice is to avoid renaming templates to avoid this sort of issue. The name "PR" was just fine. However, if you insist on renaming templates, you need to test your changes more thoroughly. — Carl (CBM · talk) 19:40, 3 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Concept of Ozai

Even though you nominated it for deletion. Can you help me out in figuring out where you can find a good concept of Ozai by the creators or a good reception? Jhenderson 777 14:42, 13 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

I tried, trust me. Of course I will keep searching for more information, but I am not sure how much we will find. The problem is that he rarely appears in the series (keep in mind by appears I mean really shows up as a character and has dialogue). Even though he is probably one of the most significant characters in the entire series (being the main antagonist and all), and despite the fact he is mentioned and sometimes seen for a few seconds very often, since he does not actually show up and talk much, his character is not that well developed, or at least not well developed relative to the other characters. Anyway, as I said, I will continue to look, but I'm in my senior year of high school so my schedule is a little tight. — Parent5446 (msg email) 00:55, 14 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Removal of the stub section in Google

Concerning the removal of the stub section titled 'The World's most Attractive Employer', why not rename it to perhaps 'Employer happiness' and add more information? Perhaps expantion may help except axing it. General Rommel (talk) 21:36, 28 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Well, we already have a section for that. It's the employees subsection under corporate affairs. At one point we will probably need to move a lot of information into that section that is currently spread throughout the article, but the section does exist for that purpose. — Parent5446 (msg email) 01:58, 29 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
Perhaps you should move it to that section then instead of deleting it? —Preceding unsigned comment added by General Rommel (talkcontribs) 02:24, 29 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
Well, I didn't delete it. I just moved it to the beginning of the Corporate affairs section, right after the sentence on Fortune magazine. — Parent5446 (msg email) 02:34, 29 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Separating vehicles by generation rather than powertrain or trim level

Hi, I am just dropping a note to inform you of a discussion currently taking place here (Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Automobiles#Mass article merger). In summary, WikiProject Automobiles is soliciting opinions based on the separation of automobile articles by generation, as opposed to other means such as powertrain or trim level. For example, rather than having an article on the Audi S3, the Audi A3 article would be split into two sub-articles (one for each generation), and the S3 content would be moved to the appropriate location. This would place automobiles with common engineering in the same place, as opposed to grouping by a mere marketing term. Since separate articles are always provided to detail the powertrain (engine and transmission, et cetera), the partitioning of articles based on this principle is superfluous (the powertrain is only briefly discussed in the article about the car). The reason for giving the actual powertrain a separate article is to cut down on overlap: engines and transmissions are almost universally used in more than one model.

question.

Hey, I was just wondering. How would you feel if this replaces the Appa article. Do you think a fictional duos article like this will work. Feel free to correct any mistakes on the userpage if there is is as well. − Jhenderson 777 22:05, 18 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

I really feel that they don't warrant notability individually as much as the major characters of the show are. But putting them together really seems to help with that and makes for an interesting article. − Jhenderson 777 22:25, 18 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
Would you mind fixing {{subst:avatarref-204}} on the article Appa and Momo to whatever it is you were intending to do. I am pretty sure that's not what you intended to do. And also here I am being more specific on what I meant. ;) − Jhenderson 777 19:10, 19 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
If you are willing to help, I am trying to find critical reception and other external links for proving notability for Appa and Momo and maybe other individual Avatar characters as well. If you notice any just let me know, alright. ;) − Jhenderson 777 21:03, 19 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Given numerous concerns expressed about the probability of repeated recreation, you probably should have left this colsure to an Admin who would have been in a position to address those concerns by protecting the redirect. HrafnTalkStalk(P) 04:28, 16 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Block message:

The IP address that you are currently using has been blocked because it is believed to be an open or anonymizing proxy, such as a VPN service. To prevent abuse, these proxies may be blocked from editing Wikipedia.

If you are using an open proxy or VPN service, you will need to disable it or turn it off in order to edit Wikipedia.

If you believe you are not using an anonymizing proxy, the most likely cause is that another customer using your IP address who was previously assigned this IP address was running an open proxy. You may appeal this block by adding the following text on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Caught by an open proxy block but this host or IP is not an open proxy. My IP address is _______. Place any further information here. ~~~~}}. You must fill in the blank with your IP address for this block to be investigated. Your IP address can be determined here. Alternatively, if you wish to keep your IP address private you can use the Unblock Ticket Request System.

More rarely, your network equipment or that of your service provider may be misconfigured or compromised by malicious software (such as a virus). For more information, see the WikiProject on Open Proxies.

Administrators: The IP block exemption user right should only be applied to allow users to edit using an open or anonymizing proxies in exceptional circumstances, and they should usually be directed to the functionaries team via email. If you intend to give the IPBE user right, a CheckUser needs to take a look at the account. This can be requested most easily at SPI Quick Checkuser Requests. Unblocking an IP or IP range with this template is highly discouraged without at least contacting the blocking administrator.

Decline reason: I'm sorry, but we do not allow editing from behind open proxies. It appears that at least one port is open - you may want to check that. TNXMan 15:18, 21 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

But I'm not editing from behind a proxy. My computer has a direct connection to the Internet. — Parent5446 (msg email) 03:03, 22 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
I really think that a declined unblock request needs to be left as is. I will pass your message to User:Tnxman307; of course you can post another unblock request. Tiderolls 03:53, 22 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
Thanks, the problem is that I can only edit this page so I have no way of contacting other editors. — Parent5446 (msg email) 04:25, 22 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
I understand. I have left Tnxman a message and will follow up elsewhere if need be. Thanks for your patience. Tiderolls 04:29, 22 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
I'll have to take a look at this later today. You may want to look at User:ProcseeBot, as it is the one that identified an open port. TNXMan 14:07, 24 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. My computer does have a bunch of open ports, but only because I host a website and other similar services on a server in my network. — Parent5446 (msg email) 21:33, 24 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

March 2011 GAN backlog elimination drive a week away

WikiProject Good Articles will be running a GAN backlog elimination drive for the entire month of March. The goal of this drive is to bring the number of outstanding Good Article nominations down to below 50. This will help editors in restoring confidence to the GAN process as well as actively improving, polishing, and rewarding good content. If you are interested in participating in the drive, please place your name here. Awards will be given out to those who review certain numbers of GANs as well as to those who review the most. On behalf of my co-coordinator Wizardman, we hope we can see you in March. MuZemike delivered by MuZebot 00:06, 22 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Removing Speedy at Talk:Avatar: Legend of Korra

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from Talk:Avatar: Legend of Korra, a page you have created yourself. If you do not believe the page should be deleted, you can place a {{hangon}} tag on the page, under the existing speedy deletion tag (please do not remove the speedy deletion tag), and make your case on the page's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you. - SDPatrolBot (talk) 04:50, 9 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

I Just Need Clarification.

Why is my article nominated for deletion? It, in my opinion, is notable. The original series was a HUGE hit, and this has gained quite a bit of publicity. I used sources. I was unbias and tried to make it as encyclopedic as possible. I know that you probably didn't nominate Korra for deletion, but since you posted the message on my talk page, I thought you could help.

Nothing against you, and I'm trying not to seem yellish; I'm not yelling, I'm complaining. If you could respond, please do. Play Monster Rancher!

Hey Monster Rancher, unfortunately, notability is a big gray area, so truthfully I cannot say for a fact the article is not notable, it's just of my opinion that Korra, a character in a television series yet to be released, isn't notable enough to deserve her own article. The thing is that though the original series may have been great, its Korra herself that has to be notable for her to deserve her own article, meaning there have to be a significant number of outside sources specifically having to do with Korra. If you head over the Aang article, you'll notice how there are citations to reviews of Aang's character, interviews with the creators, among other sources. Currently, the only sources in the Korra article are Avatar Wikia articles, which are not considered reliable sources. I would wait until the new series makes it debut to start branching off and making character articles. — Parent5446 (msg email) 04:37, 12 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hrm...I see your point. Thank you for clearing that up. However, as it stands, I will not do anything to try to delete that page. Your right. Notability is very relative and...well, I can't find the word for it. But thanks for clearing that up.

Sokka page

Apparently this page got deleted, and I didn't even know it was up for deletion. Do you happen to know how I can find the deletion discussion? While it probably was a proper deletion I would at least like to see the discussion on it. I can't seem to find any reference to it at all.Derekloffin (talk) 08:31, 20 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

It's confusing because there seems to be showing multiple deletions on it from some administrators. The last reason seemed to stated Prod but I don't remember seeing no prod. Jhenderson 777 20:42, 20 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
Uggh, I think this might be partially my fault. About a week ago, User:Monster Rancher the Great (now a blocked sockpuppet) nominated the article for PROD thinking it would trigger people to "fix" the article, whatever that means. I was about to revert it but I was on my way out of the house and didn't have time, and by the time I came back, I had completely forgot about it. If we message an admin, we could probably get it restored because of the user who deleted it. — Parent5446 (msg email) 21:06, 20 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
Hmm, I agree with the admin thing. But the question is who? What about User:Rjanag? He's been around with these type of articles sometimes. I did contact the last one who deleted it but no response so far. Jhenderson 777 01:33, 21 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
Rjanag will help us out, but let's wait and see from the original admin. Generally it's not good to have one admin revert another admin's action unless it's absolutely necessary. — Parent5446 (msg email) 02:23, 21 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
I concur. I am in no hurry. As long as the article's history will be restored. That's the main concern. I will give him at least one day. The response of later messages did prove he is online to see it but that's all I can tell you. Jhenderson 777 02:32, 21 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Changes in TuneUpUtilities after your GA review

Hello, Parent5446. Remember I told you that I will contact you after I carried out your advises in Talk:TuneUp Utilities/GA1? So, here we go. I think its time you take a look at the new changes and advise accordingly. See how I followed your GA suggestions. Fleet Command (talk) 18:32, 5 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Parent5446, are you there? Look, I'm not here to chat; I want this article to become GA one day and you are the reviewer. Are all the problems that you noted in GA1 addressed or not? Fleet Command (talk) 13:08, 8 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
Hey Fleet Command, I apologize if I have a life outside of Wikipedia that takes up quite a bit of time. I'll look over the article when I have time, but in the meantime, you can always just renominated the article at WP:GAN and another reviewer will look over it. In fact, that's probably a better solution since a fresh set of eyes will provide a better opinion. — Parent5446 (msg email) 14:51, 9 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Template:`` and Template:```

Hey Parent, I was just wondering what exactly these two templates you created are to be used for, when I found them I saw no practical use for them or them being used in any necessary way so I CSDed one of them and then realized there may actually be a reason for them so I thought I would ask. Thanks for your time,  Adwiii  Talk  15:36, 21 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hmm, curious. I cannot recall when nor why I made these templates. I probably had a reason at the time but that was back when I was new to Wikipedia and had little idea what I was doing. They don't seem to be used anywhere so they can probably just be deleted. — Parent5446 (msg email) 04:11, 22 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion of Template:``

A tag has been placed on Template:`` requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a deprecated or orphaned template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.

If the template is intended to be substituted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page indicating that it is substituted so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{transclusionless}}</noinclude>).

Thanks.  Adwiii  Talk  11:43, 22 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
