You closed the Afd at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Clicking Bad (2nd nomination) as no consensus, yet nobody suggested keeping it. How can that be no consensus? --Bejnar (talk) 15:01, 22 April 2014 (UTC)

• Because there was no consensus for deletion, simply enough, for two reasons: an apparent lack of interest, and two non-marked !votes which showed hesitancy for deletion. First point, generally at least three !votes are required for a consensus at AFD. I may, occasionally, close an uncontested AFD as if it were a prod, which brings us to the second point: resistance towards deletion. Although neither Smuckola nor Odie5533 !voted keep or delete, it was clear that both considered the topic of the article possibly notable. That is enough reasonable doubt to avoid closing the AFD as if it were a prod. As is often said, AFD is not a simple vote, but a discussion. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 15:57, 22 April 2014 (UTC)

United States presidential election, 1844

Could you possibly have a look at this GAN? I didn't have time to finish it, but it has a ton of problems I had hoped to work through with the nominator. As it is, because I took so long because I knew it was a monumental task, the nominator appears to think that they should ignore everything I said.

The article's full of poorly-introduced, poorly-explained concepts, and the worst thing that could happen to it was a non-careful reviewer promoting it too readily. Adam Cuerden ^(talk) 12:21, 22 April 2014 (UTC)

Crisco, I'm very uncomfortable about what has happened with this one. Adam basically disappeared from the review for a month and a half (see User talk:Adam Cuerden#Talk:United States presidential election, 1844/GA1, and I removed him as reviewer on April 15 (query on his talk page; reply on the review itself, a move he concurred with a few hours later. Today, following the above, he reappears for the second time in the review after his removal—mind, the GA nominee template lists the current review as GA2 not GA1, since GA1 was ended at the point he was removed over a week ago, and it's sitting in the review pool like all regular nominations—and then edits the article talk page to say that it's failed, even though he wasn't the reviewer any more.

My initial impulse was to revert the FailedGA: Adam stepped away, and really has no business stepping back in at this point. But I wanted your take on it first, as an uninvolved admin. • I know the background; I visit Adam's talk page often enough to have seen the notes. I haven't been involved in GAN as much as I used to be, so I may be out of touch with this. We can, I think, consider this as having been renominated and, as a form of apology to the nominator, arrange for it to be reviewed more quickly than if left to the pool itself. We seem to have done this with articles which were failed owing to piss-poor reviews or reviews by socks, I think (not that this is either of those; rather, it should be given a quick review owing to the length of waiting).  — Crisco 1492 (talk) 00:21, 23 April 2014 (UTC)

Roekiah (1917–1945) was a kroncong singer and film actress from the Dutch East Indies. Born to two actors, she began her career at the age of seven, and by 1932 had become well-known in Batavia. Around this time she met her husband Kartolo. The two acted in the 1937 hit Terang Boelan, with Roekiah starring alongside Rd Mochtar; after the film's commercial success, Roekiah, Kartolo, and most of the cast and crew of Terang Boelan were signed to Tan's Film. They appeared in three films for the company, beginning with Fatima in 1938, before Mochtar left in 1940; his departure ended a partnership which had spawned numerous imitators. Mochtar's replacement, Djoemala, acted with Roekiah in four films, beginning with Sorga Ka Toedjoe, although these were less successful. During the peak of her career, Roekiah was a fashion and beauty icon, featuring in advertisements and drawing comparisons to Dorothy Lamour and Janet Gaynor. After the Japanese invaded the Indies in 1942, Roekiah took only one more film role before her death. Of her five children with Kartolo, one – Rachmat Kartolo – entered acting. Well, I wonder sometimes why people make such a fuss about the correct hook, because this one went down with no picture whatsoever that was at the salon, we don't even know if it was Aurora or Venus, but never mind, we have neither of them, and this hook is so totally incorrect. Talk:Leavitt Bulldog. You have stated that I outed someone. Please check again, that wasn't me doing the outing. Please check your facts before you threaten someone with being blocked. (I realize that it was probably a slip and you hit the wrong person, but please correct what you wrote.) P.S. I'm not at all sure what you mean by outing, whether it was the statement about my gender (I can live with that), or repeating information already given by Ss 051 on the dispute resolution noticeboard where he clearly identified himself as the registrar of the club. I have no part in this bulldog discussion. These other editors have registered their opinion and there seems to be no end to the disagreement. User Ss thinks Leawitt Bulldog is wrong and vice versa, Phil stirring up things because Leawitt Bulldog is not AKC.. or whatever... • You know, the Bulldog breed does have healt issues, fattigue, breeathing problems, and so no. These breeding programs are up to make the Bulldog breed healthier. Phil argues that it should be the real Bulldog breed that it should be the target of this kind of ameliorating. But that is not easy to do now when the AKC has a fixed breed, and fixed feathures. The new breeds has longer nose and leggs, for ex. There is actually a Leawitt Bulldog Assotiation. The Leavitt Bulldog get 761 000 hits on Google. There are breeders, [4] other organisations, [5], there is controversy, [6] between two dog breeder groups, Olde English Bulldog (user Ss) and Leawitt Bulldog - controversy what is right and wrong about these breeds, and they are cute, [7]. • If anything, your edits are more POV than the (cited) information you were removing (i.e. the addition of the links to Saudi charity. User Epeefleche was right to revert. Advice, please

Am still working on Red Skelton; one suggestion you made was to rearrange the article in chronological order. Started doing that but found it was easier to do it in my sandbox. The article has been "hit" by two instances of content being copied from here and used with a copyright notice. Talk:Red Skelton. I want to avoid any misunderstanding about where this has come from (my sandbox). Think that copy and paste would be the best way to go but want it to be clear that it wasn't taken from anywhere but WP. The rest of the adding/re-doing should be able to be done on the article itself without making it a mess for readers. Crisco, please stop lecturing me here. [15] It's demeaning. I will not be scolded like a schoolboy, and you should adopt such a condescending tone. This is not a junior high school class.

My original remark on this FP was brusque, which probably reflects my background in journalism, where internal discussions tend to be brief and brash, sometimes profane. One learns to roll with the punches. I've tried to make some of my comments in a humorous vein, but you seem not to understand that.

On WP discussion pages, users sometimes expend far too much verbiage on minor points (as I've pointed out regarding several sports-related ITN nominations), and IMO are all to quick to take offense at others' statements. This is immature behavior. However, in view of the exaggerated reaction in this instance, I will not say "ZZZzzz" again, and will state my view in English. I don't wish to offend anyone.

I stand by my argument that when a composition is selected as a Featured Picture, it should be intrinsically interesting and compelling, not merely illustrative (EV-wise) of some thing, person or topic. As one of the most-viewed websites on the Net, we should be putting our best foot forward — which some FPs have not done.

• Sca, I understand that you are attempting to convey humor through several of your support and oppose votes. Sometimes I even join in (like in the groundhog nomination, with a joke about having something other than a bird). However, there are 2 things that should be kept in mind: 1) in the newsroom setting the people are generally (not always; The Jakarta Post and its foreign/domestic staff comes to mind) of similar cultural backgrounds, speaking in person, and familiar with each others' shorthand and sense of humour; this does not hold true for online interactions, especially on Wikipedia. As such, we need to elaborate a wee bit more, and keep in mind how someone outside our own frame of mind would read a post. 2) We have Commons for Featured Pictures which are all about "Wow!", which is what you're describing. Wikipedia is, first and foremost, an encyclopedia, which means that an image's value to the encyclopedia is given equal (if not greater) value than its aesthetics. There are several images I've nominated not because I liked them as images, but because they had great value to the encyclopedia (off the top of my head, Situation Room, Streatham portrait, and Nocturne in Black and Gold – The Falling Rocket). This point is something you (apparently) disagree with, yet (as I've been pointing out) should be kept in mind.

That being said, so long as the first point is addressed I'll be satisfied... just keep in mind that how you frame your opposes is quite important. Something like "Oppose - The butterfly does not contrast well with the background. Something like this would be much more useful." would draw no ire, despite being (essentially) the same point.

I don't mean to come across as lecturing you, and your feedback (both here and at FPC) is appreciated greatly. I'm just hoping that we can keep the process running smoothly and avoid unnecessary drama. Based on this entry over at Commons, can I infer/understand that publishing images of banknotes from Chile that are over 70 years old and (more importantly) no longer in circulation, are not prohibited? • Based on my reading of the (very legalese) English there, it's possible that out of circulation banknotes may be uploaded. However, barring an explicit exclusion of such, I'd tread very lightly in that area... would these banknotes be "Work published anonymously, under a pseudonym or the author is unknown (except 3):"? That terminology doesn't necessarily exempt legal bodies, AFAIK. Copyright status of this image

Hey Crisco, I could use your insights on something.

This evening, I've been working on a collage for Baghdad's Wikipedia article, not unlike ones we have for other cities (e.g. Milan, Istanbul). One of the images I used was this one, uploaded on February 2014 by User:Botsojoy. It's a candidate to be transferred over to Wikimedia Commons, but I'm slightly reluctant to do so because I can't seem to verify that Botsojoy is in fact who he says he is. The image already exists on Flickr, where downloading appears to be disabled and the copyright is set as "All Rights Reserved". You obviously have more experience with these things than I have. As it stands, is this image currently suitable for Commons? What can be done to verify that Botsojoy is the original author (i.e. same as the Flickr user), or is there already enough information to assume that he is? SAS Institute

I was just realizing since you were involved in the SAS (software) page, I should have let you know that I've moved on to the SAS Institute page. Unlike Monster (company), Publishers Clearing House and others I've brought up to GA in a COI capacity where they have controversial reputations, this one is more along the lines of Noodles & Company - their primary claim to notability is as a good employer and corporate citizen. I expect the neutrality of both to be contested repeatedly. As such, these types of articles would be a good starting point for me to move up to FA articles in order to re-assure the community they are done properly. I've gotten an editor or two to pay attention for a moment, but since there is no formalized queue like AfC and editors are hesitant to make a commitment to stick around a page they don't have a particular interest/expertise in, I never know if I need more help or if I just need to be patient and wait for an editor to get around to it. North8000 was going to help and is one of my most reliable helpers who handles my COI quite well, but has recently been site-banned as a result of an arbcom ruling. Soooo.... I don't know.

Extremely positive or negative articles are always a magnet for speculation over whether they are representative of the source material and in most cases they are not. The other editor focused on content and expressed reasonable concerns. The number of awards in that article is a huge red flag, but they have a lot that meet these requirements. Crisco, I was looking at DeCSS haiku while considering promoting Template:Did you know nominations/DeCSS haiku, and realized that the end of the second History and significance paragraph has two external links in parentheses.

I don't want to promote it if that isn't allowed, and I suspect it isn't. If not, might the two links be usable in Notes instead, or a single note, giving the two external links for these?

Sminthopsis84 and PaleCloudedWhite‎, can't we be pretty sure that this is a 'Banksiae Lutea'? This is a picture that was uploaded by someone that did't know what it was. It looks like a 'Banksiae Lutea', and there are not many roses with this style, small clusters of flowers, pale yellow with this pointed petal-style. Phyllis Bide maybe, but it is not Phyllis Bide. Yes, it does look like R. banksiae, but not I think like f. lutea, though it is in that category on Commons now. The "white" one I'm most familiar with is very much this yellow when the flowers are young and one looks closely. Crape Jasmine

Don't be jealous, it took 5 years of my life to became a landscape architect when from the begining I wanted to be an artist, and went to artists school and that took a lot of time too. It helps a lot to know where a photo was taken, how big the item is, and any other photos of the same plant. Some garden plants are just about impossible. 1: yep, could be garden portulaca, P. grandiflora, 2: periwinkle, perhaps Catharanthus roseus 3: hmm, doesn't look quite like Lotus corniculatus, but perhaps a slightly flattened flower or a related species 4: Bad Hair Day for a goatsbeard? 5: pink pussy toes? Most botanists I know refuse to have anything to do with garden plants or weeds because the whole assemblage of those plus native plants is just too much to handle (I'm so lazy that I refuse to learn all the native plants in the two floras that I ought to know, and try to learn a few of the common weeds instead). I think the leaf is wrong for a jasmine. Vinca major is close, but again I think the leaf is a bit wrong. The plant in the photo looks familiar; I don't know how to describe the look of the leaf, "a bit squishy"? C. roseus has the more obvious midvein that this picture shows, and variable leaf-roundness, so these relatively narrow leaves would fit, I think. Sminthopsis84 (talk) 21:34, 2 May 2014 (UTC)

Photo from FDR Library

We have one photo File:Red Skelton birthday.jpg of an FDR Birthday Ball (an identical one in gif format) at Commons. It's not very good quality and that's the way it came from the FDR Library site. Did some digging and found a better photo that's of better quality here. This is the page it's on. FDR Library info says "Unless copyright information is stated in the image caption, all of the digitized material available online from the FDR Library Archives belongs in the public domain. This means that, to the best of our knowledge, the materials may be freely used by the online researcher, teacher, or student." Seeking advice

May I ask your advice about a picture? You may perhaps recall that you and Loeba gave me enormous help with the images for John Gielgud, particularly in regard to US publicity images of the 1940s and 50s. Well, I have found on ebay here an image of Sir Thomas Beecham that has a date stamp on the back (1948) and is from a New York photographer. It would fill a real gap in his article, which lacks a picture of him in the last four decades of his life. This one would need a lot of cleaning up, but first I'd be grateful for your advice on how to establish that it is in the public domain in the US. If it is, I can load it and ask the graphics lab (or, dare I say it, you?) to clean it up, but I'm not certain how to check if the copyright was ever renewed. – Tim riley (talk) 09:22, 5 May 2014 (UTC)

• Well, Tim, I don't see a copyright notice, so I don't think "renewal" has anything to do with it. If there was no copyright notice and first publication was in the US before 1973, it's PD. Seeking advice

Good evening (HKT). I've attempted to translate the article The Jakarta Post, but someone point out that the translation is very eerie and inappropriate. Let's not talk about the translation first. One of his argument is that in the original article, it is said that when the Post was founded, staffs need to use a pica pole as the straightedge. He argues that in this situation, a straightedge means a tool with an edge free from curves with no equally spaced markings along its length, making the sentence irrational. I don't agree with his saying, thus not changing the sentence. He cited it as a reason to oppose the candidacy for its Chinese equivalent as a good article. Is "straightedge" in this article really means like what he said, or just straightedge means a tool with an edge free from curves, no whether it has equally spaced markings or not? • Well, Jimfbleak, here's what I've got:

• Ake Tajawe - I have a series of rivers named "Ake X" from 0.3 degrees south through 0.7 degrees south, suggesting that "Ake" is a local name for river; several others further north, near Kao and Lolobata, are also called Ake. I can't find Ake Tajawe though. This suggests it's near Lolobata (see below).
• Kao - Kao city is at 1.15 N, 127.8 E (give or take). There is a river called "Kau" (pronounced the same) that runs through the area.
• Lalobata - I have a village named "Lolobata" at about 1.3 N * 128.1 E
• Ako Jilolo - I have a "Jailolo Bay" at 1.1 N, 127.4 E

• Based on this (admittedly imperfect) search, I'd say the bird is found in the middle portion of the island, around Kau Bay (the big one which almost splits the island in two). — Crisco 1492 (talk) 11:31, 8 May 2014 (UTC)

Does this remind you of anything?

Crisco, there are some crime-related DYKs by OccultZone lately, most of which started out with very small articles (below DYK minimum) that were made larger once a review pointed out the issue. This reminds me of a similar spate by another user, perhaps about a year ago (though I can't find any of them; do you remember the topics?). I have no idea whether there is any similarity, but I just recall broad topics with very limited coverage.

The DYK noms include Template:Did you know nominations/Kidnapping in the United Kingdom, which has just been given an AGF approval, Template:Did you know nominations/Incidents of Necrophilia, Template:Did you know nominations/Child sexual abuse in Australia, Template:Did you know nominations/Kidnapping in the United States, and Template:Did you know nominations/Kidnapping in China. Is this anything to be concerned about, or are the articles okay for DYK?

Advice on avoiding an edit war

Crisco, there's a bit of an issue on the Back-up Plan and Old Dog New Tricks articles. Both are Glee episodes, and I've nominated both for DYK; the former just got off the main page, and the latter has just been promoted there.

The issue is with the episode and article titles. The naming has been inconsistent coming from "official" sources: the Fox press releases and publicity photo pages on foxflash.com used "Back-Up Plan" and "Old Dog New Tricks", so that's what I went with when I created the articles. (Note that I lowercased "up" because of MOS capitalization guidelines.) I also explained my reasoning at the time on both article's talk pages.

Some sources, including Amazon and the EP released with the episode's music, have included the article and a comma respectively—"The Back-Up Plan" and "Old Dog, New Tricks". Others, including the viewable episode on Hulu (Fox is a part owner) use neither. I think both versions are certainly possible, but haven't seen what I consider to be a definitive game-changer yet. Artmanha, another user, believes he has, and he has been changing the names and then posting his reasoning, which I haven't found convincing. I have, however, tried to engage him (much like BRD suggests), but he changes and explains, rather than explains and tries to come to a consensus.

He moved "Back-up Plan" to "The Back-Up Plan (Glee)" today while the article was on the main page as the former; I moved it back, explained that I thought it was inappropriate but in any event "Up" should be "up", and that we should discuss it on the article talk page and wait to move until consensus is achieved. He moved it again (and posted to the Talk page), though fortunately not until six minutes before it left the main page; it again uses the MOS-inappropriate "Up". I'd like to avoid any name changes to "Old Dog New Tricks" while the article's on the DYK section of the main page (another 11 hours), though it's less critical because the article name isn't directly stated in the hook.

This is my first disagreement verging on an edit war. I don't want to get even close to 3RR, so I was wondering what I should do at this point. Since you're uninvolved (and probably uninterested in Glee), I thought I'd ask your opinion of this state of affairs. Thank you very much; I appreciate your time. • Y'know, I'm damned if I can find that bit of MOS, though I was sure I'd run into it before, and when I look at outside authorities like The Chicago Manual of Style, I can't find it there, either. I also can't find any example here that supports it, and also could have sworn I'd run into this situation previously with words that are correct both hyphenated and closed (like "back-up" and "backup"). The odd thing is that the 2010 movie, "The Back-up Plan", uses lowercase for its publicity poster, and that may be where the lowercase "up" came from. Crisco, I've never seen this before: a hook being approved based on a picture. I don't see any documentation that this is a scissors-truss roof, and the creator is maintaining that since the picture is of one—and we have to take his word for it, since there's no written documentation cited anywhere—that's all the citation needed. (Funnily enough, it's called a "cross truss" in the picture description.)

Is this true? I didn't want to promote it, but (if true) nor did I want to unapprove it. It's clear that the author took a great many pictures of this church, but that makes the descriptions attached to them as sourced as the picture in question: the creator's knowledge. Hi Crisco, I've got Matanaka Farm on my watchlist, and have thus seen that you are involved in picture of the day. Here's a photo of Red Skelton from Radio Mirror in 1948. One of his early "hobby" paintings is shown above. The magazine is PD-copyright not renewed. Just rolled through UPenn periodicals for 1975 and 1976--Macfadden didn't renew Radio Mirror. Right now, there's a link broken between the Internet Archive and U Wisconsin's Lantern, which normally serves larger PDF pages. The magazines are scans from the LOC made available via internet archive. I use these a lot for various performers and also for article refs. ;} Even though both UWisconsin and IA claim all online is PD, I always check it at either UPenn or copyright.gov to be sure. Went back to UPenn to look at copyrights filed for art work for the years 1943 (when Skelton said he began actively painting as a hobby) through 1948 (magazine is from 1948). The only thing pertaining to Red Skelton is a 1947 illustration done by artist Sam Berman for NBC Radio. NBC hired Berman to create illustrations for all of the radio shows on the network at the time. File:Como stafford supper club 1947.jpg This is one of them. NBC renewed some but not all of the illustrations; the Como/Stafford "Supper Club" wasn't renewed. So we are looking at a PD Skelton original. :) We hope (talk) 17:33, 17 May 2014 (UTC)

Got here a bit late today-trying to get some RL stuff done while there's still some weekend to do it in. Copyright question...

Hi Crisco- I've stumbled upon a grouping of American Bank Note Company portrait proofs of notable people from all over the world. While the Bureau of Engraving and Printing is a government agency and therefore PD, ABNCo is a different story. While they enjoyed long contracts with the US government to produce currency, they were not a government agency and they designed and engraved currency for a significant number of foreign countries. The portraits are in a scrap book assembled by an ABNCo engraver and it is, for what it's worth, likely 70+ years old (if not more). Some of the images have the name of the engraver written in the book, most of them have a very fine and small engraved copyright symbol, but no date... Can you determine when these were done? While looking up renewals of old photos at UPenn, I've come across the company's renewals under artwork many times. Here's what they renewed from 1931 in the first half of 1958. If you can put a date on these, you can then look at UPenn to see if the engraving was renewed or not. If the exact image was actually used on the circulating currency of a foreign country does that count toward distribution? Or is it only if the engraved portrait was distributed in the same state as in this scrapbook? TheSickBehemoth: Agree that a single revert is not edit warring per our policy (it calls for repeated reverts to be edit warring). However, not following Template:Infobox musical artist is not breaking policy either, as template documentation is just that: documentation. Sultanate of Singora

Hi there. This is a message for CasLiber, HamiltonStone, SturmVogel and Crisco. Thanks for your help and feeback re: the Singora article. It achieved FA status on Saturday.

I got a message today saying the article will now appear on Wikipedia's home page on June 4. This surprised me. I read somewhere that it usually takes several months for featured articles to make it to the home page.

I've cleaned things up a bit. CasLiber and Crisco noted that the section about Persians in 17th century Siam looked out of place. I've deleted this paragraph.

I've also re-jigged the lead and added:

• 1. Alternative names / spellings to the Early History section.
• 2. An explanatory note re: the foundation of the city in 1605.
• 3. An explanatory note re: Sultan Sulaiman's declaration of independence in 1642.
• 4. A second paragraph to the The forts at Khao Daeng section.

If you have time to briefly glance through it again, please do. I still feel the article can be improved prior to June 4.

Thanks again for your help. I've enjoyed doing this. I finished Oxford University almost exactly 30 years ago, so this has been an opportunity to cast aside some of the rust and dust that's built up over the years. Perhaps I'm not as good as I was, but I think I'm still just about okay!

Similar DYK issue?

Crisco, I just noticed that you reviewed the Template:Did you know nominations/Kidnapping in the United States article, and flunked it for a variety of reasons, one of which was the Notable cases section. The creator has an article on Child sexual abuse in Australia currently in Queue 4 and due to hit the main page in four hours, and it has a "Notable offenders" section—a list rather than a table, and each offender is wikilinked to an article. If this is problematic, it will require an admin, so I thought you'd want to check to make sure this article doesn't have similar issues to the one you reviewed. Thanks. Hey, now. I found a picture of an American Cocker Spaniel, a dog that we need pictures of, in the co,mmons Category:Low quality dog pictures, and I figured we could do something with it if we are cropping it, not that bad.

Now the file is deleted and Phil got a template of a common admin, saying she violated copyright? Why? It looked like the persons own dog, or? She have just been accused of violating copyright by an admin over on Commons! when she only cropped it. I wan't that dog back, if possible.

I cropped it using the crop tool and then uploaded it as a new file, not over writing the original as the instructions tell you. Lately at DYK

Crisco, it would appear I've dissed a DYK Patriarch (unknowingly, but the fact remains), and compounded the fact by marking the submission for closure because no QPQ is forthcoming. I thought I'd give someone who's been around longer than I have, and might actually know this guy, a chance to donate a QPQ or something, so if you want to (or to contact someone who might), please feel free: Template:Did you know nominations/Pastila.

I'm not sure what should/can be done about Template:Did you know nominations/Leftist errors—the neutrality warnings on the review template are dire and seemed to have merit behind them when I checked a while ago, but I couldn't figure out what to do (and have no interest in reviewing the nomination), so I'm hoping you can do something to break the logjam or wrap it up.

I noticed you were one of the people (including myself) who were pinged by Drmies to close down the Poklonskaya nomination. • First and foremost, that's the wrong page. Second, you didn't add a colon in front of the "file" in the title, giving you that huge image. The smaller image above it was the file coming through from Commons, and the smaller one below it was your actual nomination. • There's just the one image (on Commons) which is used on several pages (including your nomination). The image you nominated is the one which you linked to above; same image. Canadian Eskimo Dog

Hi Crisco, would you mind having a very quick look at Canadian Eskimo Dog, please? I'm a little worried about sourcing and possible BLP concerns with the Controversies section. Two of the paragraphs of the Brian Ledoon section are unsourced - other refs used there seem to be a blog, weirdanswers.com, imdb, urbanlegends and costabotes is a circular ref back to weirdanswers. Opinion on pictures and FPC

What do you think?

I have been fascinated by the FPC process for a while and after the excavation at the Atari landfill, Commons attained a couple of files on the event. I'm wondering if any of them have a chance of surviving a round at the process. More so this one. GamerPro64 02:12, 22 May 2014 (UTC)

• We can work with a couple of these. I could edit File:Atari E.T. Dig- Alamogordo, New Mexico (14039327125).jpg to close-to FPC quality; what time was it taken, though? That's awfully dark for a desert. File:Atari E.T.   • I'm not entirely sure when the first photo was taken. It says it was taken in November and it appears that there was an overcast during the time it was taken. Crisco, I'm going to be with family starting tomorrow for the long weekend, and access will likely be spotty (if I have free time at all). I'm hoping you can help me with a couple of outstanding issues that I don't think I'm going to have time to finish up on. Many thanks.

The first is Template:Did you know nominations/Djawoto. As it has sources in Indonesian, particularly one Soman was pointing me to that I was hoping to hand it off to you, since Google translate is quite rough and missing the detail I would need. The "cadre" issue has been solved by Soman changing the wording—I'd never run into the word applying to a single person, and found its use confusing—but there's an "if...then" structure to the final sentence that I'm not sure is warranted. I imagine you'll be able to tell. At any rate, I hope you don't mind my leaving the final disposition of this to you.

The other one was a call from Drmies on Template:Did you know nominations/I Got U‎ with a query about the newest ALT hook, which I'm hoping you can take for me.

There have been a couple of nominations I'd been meaning to commend to your attention, since they've been sitting there for a while. One is an April Fools candidate, Template:Did you know nominations/Neotrogla. The other is Template:Did you know nominations/Widener Library, where a significant portion of the 5x expansion is in the Notes section, rather than the intro and body; I imagine you've dealt with these issues before.
