Having chosen New Zealand as my home, I take an interest in anything from my adopted country. I have a special interest in:
geography (built environment and water),
history
people
politics
civil engineering
transport (especially sustainable transport)
between December 2017 and August 2018 I wrote articles for the European Rowing Championships covering the editions from 1893 to 1973 (65 articles) plus started circa 450 rowing bios in support of that exercise
I have an account on flickr, but I don't hold photo files there. The account's purpose is to hunt for photos that are suitable for Wikipedia. I am active on Commons, where I upload my own photos and those from flickr that have a suitable licence. Since 2017, I've been reasonably active on Wikidata. Prior to 2009, I had a separate account for another Wikipedia project and ArbCom agreed to courtesy vanish the account for privacy reasons. That said, the need for that privacy has since vanished, too.
There are many people with bios on Wikipedia who I know well enough to have a conflict of interest (COI). Plus there is a relative in this list with whom I share a surname, and although I have never met her, I shall stay away from her bio. There are some links to Wikidata of people where a COI exists. I've listed those people who are notable; feel free to start a page for them. Regarding commercial interests, there's a software product, my local, and shareholding where COI is triggered.
I thus should not make edits to these articles, but note that I don't regard making minor edits as possibly triggering COI. I haven't always adhered to the COI policy—I have since become an administrator—and there are some people whose pages I edited in the past who I didn't know at that point, but I do know now. This COI list is probably incomplete:
Congratulations for reaching the 25 DYK milestone! Well done for all your good work, especially on New Zealand politician biographies. XLerate (talk) 04:39, 24 June 2010 (UTC)
Many thanks are in order: your wide-ranging contributions to Wikipedia have resulted in one hundred of your newly created or expanded articles appearing on the Main page, in the "Did you know?" section. You are a great asset to the encyclopedia. Moonraker (talk) 09:31, 6 August 2011 (UTC)
I am pleased to present you with the Researcher's Barnstar in appreciation for your fine work in researching Christchurch's buildings. Excellent work. Thank you. --Rosiestep (talk) 21:23, 30 October 2011 (UTC)
Oh, how very nice. Thank you, Rosie. Schwede66 17:23, 31 October 2011 (UTC)
We see you are on a Wikibreak and that is well deserved – after creating 200 articles that make it to DYK. Articles about your chosen country of New Zealand – and I see some made it to GA status. Thanks from the the Wiki and me. Victuallers (talk) 09:49, 10 January 2013 (UTC)
For your contributions to Canterbury related articles. Tried to find a purely red and black barnstar but couldn't find one! Shuddetalk 11:54, 23 February 2013 (UTC)

Many thanks for pointing me in the right direction on big and little things. Keep that good and gentle advice coming, please. Herewhy (talk) 04:24, 16 June 2019 (UTC)
At the DYK conversation about the PBS station your ALT1 comment was a real joy to read. I'll admit I was a bit embarrassed about flubbing that review but your joke really lifted my spirits. Thanks for keeping this place light and fun.
Thanks, Dr vulpes. What happened is that I laughed really hard about RoySmith's ALT0. But then I thought "that's not really fair on a DYK newbie", hence I dished out my ALT1 in return. I hope RoySmith got a laugh out of it, too. Schwede66 09:23, 28 June 2023 (UTC)
I meant no disrespect with ALT0, and thank you for improving upon my attempt at humor. RoySmith(talk) 13:39, 28 June 2023 (UTC)
For the significant work of managing the posting of 2020 Summer Olympics hooks. CMD (talk) 15:58, 10 August 2021 (UTC)
Although suspected rigging of the rowing events to validate your article writing should be of concern to future Olympics organisers. CMD (talk) 15:58, 10 August 2021 (UTC)
Thanks, CMD! I can confirm that the NZOC is unconcerned. Schwede66 16:51, 10 August 2021 (UTC)
A huge thank you for your support of Auckland Museum's successful Alliance fund application "Understanding our past:using Wikipedia as a tool to support local history in Tāmaki Makaurau". The strong support from editors greatly strengthened our application and we're looking forward to collaborating with the community in the new year to implement the project. Best wishes, James (Auckland Museum) Jetaynz (talk) 04:22, 9 December 2022 (UTC)
Oh, your funding application was successful, Jetaynz? That is wonderful news. Schwede66 08:36, 9 December 2022 (UTC)
Thank you for being so kind to the community. I really liked your friendly behavior on this deletion request and on this Did You Know nomination. Such behavior keeps the enivornment healthy and allows others to learn from their mistakes. Thanks a lot for everything that you do on this encyclopedia! ─ The Aafī(talk) 03:46, 26 February 2023 (UTC)
Thanks, TheAafi. That’s much appreciated. It was clear to me that we were dealing with a newbie who seemed to have good intentions. It’s always best to be kind. Schwede66 09:18, 26 February 2023 (UTC)
Thank you for your role in the New Zealand politics taskforce organizing the 2023 general election. It helped immensely and didn't go unnoticed. Kiwiz1338 (talk) 10:45, 29 October 2023 (UTC).

Thank you for allowing me to work with you in this section of the project. I wish you happy holidays! Lightburst (talk) 01:05, 16 December 2023 (UTC)
Thanks, Lightburst. It's been a pleasure working with you. I especially appreciated you chipping in some QPQs with our mass-MP nomination, and I'm sure that DrThneed will join in thanking you. Thank you kindly for the nice holiday award. In fact, I've just finished the last work task for the year (yes, on a Saturday at that!), so now the holidays have actually started. Schwede66 02:31, 16 December 2023 (UTC)
Absolutely seconded @Schwede66- many thanks for your help at DYK @Lightburst! Happy holidays. DrThneed (talk) 03:10, 16 December 2023 (UTC)
For diving in and doing heavy weightlifting on scheduling 2024 Olympics DYK hooks; for this marathon effort you are awarded the gold medal and laurel wreath. - (puns intended) JennyOz (talk) 04:47, 13 August 2024 (UTC)
Oh, how very nice. Thank you. I had no idea that you are keeping an eye on DYK happenings, JennyOz. Yes, it was somewhat involved! Schwede66 05:29, 13 August 2024 (UTC)
