December 2018

Hello, I'm LittlePuppers. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Indohyus have been undone because they did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Help Desk. Thanks. LittlePuppers (talk) 18:53, 1 December 2018 (UTC)

@LittlePuppers: I am new and looking to learn. Can you tell me what exactly was wrong with the edit I made? I added a good photo of the two skulls to show what the ear bulla described in the text and added more detail to the references listed so that other people would be able to find the reference. Thanks for your advice. Akrasia25 (talk) 19:27, 1 December 2018 (UTC)

Sorry Akrasia25, I went through that a bit too quickly. You edit was perfectly fine, so I'm not sure what made me think it was vandalism at the time (perhaps I thought <ref name="sample"> was someone playing around with and breaking references?). Either way, thank you for asking me about that and my apologies. Please feel free to let me know if you ever have any other questions, and happy editing! LittlePuppers (talk) 19:34, 1 December 2018 (UTC)
@LittlePuppers: Oh thank you for the quick response. You make me feel better.

Hello, I'm Zackmann08. Thank you for your recent contributions to Adelite. I noticed that when you added the image to the infobox, you added it as a thumbnail. In the future, please do not use thumbnails when adding images to an infobox (see WP:INFOBOXIMAGE). What does this mean? Well in the infobox, when you specify the image you wish to use, instead of doing it like this:

|image=

Instead just supply the name of the image. So in this case you can simply do:

|image=SomeImage.jpg.

There will then be a separate parameter for the image caption such as |caption=Some image caption. Please note that this is a generic form message I am leaving on your page because you recently added a thumbnail to an infobox. The specific parameters for the image and caption may be different for the infobox you are using! Please consult the Template page for the infobox being used to see better documentation. Thanks! Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 15:10, 6 December 2018 (UTC)

@Zackmann08:thanks for the hint. I will use it in my sandbox too.

Disambiguation link notification for December 14

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Rolls-Royce Phantom V, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page James Young (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Wikipedia and copyright

Hello Akrasia25, and welcome to Wikipedia. All or some of your addition(s) to Jean Claude Bouquet have been removed, as they appear to have added copyrighted material without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues here.

 • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
 • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
 • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
 • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
 • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are PD or compatibly licensed) it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions, the help desk or the Teahouse before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
 • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps in Wikipedia:Translation#How to translate. See also Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 19:39, 25 December 2018 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia, Akrasia25! Thank you for your contributions. I am Calaka and I have been editing Wikipedia for some time, so if you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page. You can also check out Wikipedia:Questions or type help me at the bottom of this page. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Also, when you post on talk pages you should sign your name using four tildes (~~~~); that will automatically produce your username and the date. I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Calaka (talk) 02:38, 2 January 2019 (UTC)

Hi Akrasia, I wanted to say welcome and thank you for all the edits you are making and for working on the mathematicians. It will be very exciting to see that list complete (unless MacTutor have added more mathematicians since the list was made haha). Kind regards and keep up the great work!Calaka (talk) 02:41, 2 January 2019 (UTC)

Punctuation

Please look at my recent edits to Volodymyr Levytsky and some of the other biographical articles that you recently created. Under WP:MOS, an en-dash rather than a hyphen is used in ranges of dates, ranges of page numbers, other numerical ranges, and ranges of letters of the alphabet. Thus:

right: Volodymyr Levytsky (31 December 1872 – 13 August 1956)
wrong: Volodymyr Levytsky (31 December 1872 - 13 August 1956)
wrong: Volodymyr Levytsky (31 December 1872-13 August 1956)
wrong: Volodymyr Levytsky (31 December 1872–13 August 1956)
right: Volodymyr Levytsky (1872–1956)

Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Catiline into Liège–Rome–Liège. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from page name; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted copied template on the talk pages of the source and destination. The attribution has been provided for this situation, but if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, please provide attribution for that duplication. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. If you are the sole author of the prose that was copied, attribution is not required. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 02:11, 4 January 2019 (UTC)

@Diannaa:- The must be some misunderstanding. I did not copy or move any text from Catiline into Liège–Rome–Liège. I had never visited the Catiline page. And that page is about an ancient Roman senator and my page is about a European road rally so I don't see how I could have used any information. When I created the page I added an attribution to the French page already. I have now created a talk page and added an attribution to it as well on the actual page as hidden text. Is this what you meant? --Akrasia25 (talk) 02:46, 4 January 2019 (UTC)
Sorry, it was a mistake. I meant to say it was copied from Rallying. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 21:56, 14 January 2019 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Georgii Suvorov

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Georgii Suvorov requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from http://www-history.mcs.st-and.ac.uk/history/Biographies/Suvorov.html. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 21:55, 14 January 2019 (UTC)

@Diannaa: Have a look at the article and tell me what you think. I think it takes out a lot of the math though which is hard to not copy.--Akrasia25 (talk) 00:06, 15 January 2019 (UTC)

Admin Topicon

Hi, I just stopped by your userpage after tagging Phragmochaeta canicularis, and noticed that you have an admin topicon on your page - I thought that was a bit unusual for such a new account, so I checked here and you don't appear to have admin rights. You put that there last month, perhaps by mistake? I'd urge you to remove it - pretending to have rights that you do not have isn't really on, and may result in your account being blocked. Cheers GirthSummit (blether) 21:04, 11 February 2019 (UTC)

Thanks, I didn't notice that. I must have copied that along with some other tools I thought would be interesting. Thanks for pointing that out. --Akrasia25 (talk) 21:10, 11 February 2019 (UTC)
Ah, that would make sense - yes, you added it alongside a load of other useful looking links, I'm sure that's what happened. Thanks for removing it so promptly. Cheers GirthSummit (blether) 21:22, 11 February 2019 (UTC)

Workshop not accepted ref

You added workshop content and ref to several vitamin and health article. Reverted at all by several editors. WP:MEDRS calls for a more conservative qualification of what are reliable references, briefly, meta-analyses, systematic reviews and reviews published in high quality, peer-reviewed journals. David notMD (talk) 18:12, 15 February 2019 (UTC)

@David notMD: This was actually a paper published by the NCI about their workshop to summarize their findings. I think that the editors were too fast in reverting the edit and only saw that it was a workshop. I think that it is relevant as this peer reviewed paper summarized what the NCI thinks about CAM. --Akrasia25 (talk) 19:44, 15 February 2019 (UTC)
I read the paper. It is all about identifying gaps, challenges and future opportunities. On nutrition and health topics, that gives undue weight to theories (vit C and cancer, etc.) that many never come to fruition. For these topics, Wikipedia needs to be a trailing indicator, summarizing consensus science rather than speculative. David notMD (talk) 20:59, 15 February 2019 (UTC)

File:WOB logo for that organization.jpg

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for the calculation of the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. RonBot (talk) 18:04, 27 February 2019 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image File:Editas logo.png

Thanks for uploading File:Editas logo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 18:29, 28 February 2019 (UTC)

copying within Wikipedia

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Lithium into Cosmological lithium problem. Thank you. If you are the sole author of the prose that was moved, attribution is not required.--S Philbrick(Talk) 17:45, 14 April 2019 (UTC)

@Sphilbrick: I certainly thought I was doing that by putting the { { Main|article name }} into the article itself so that it would be permanent. Thanks though and next time I will put it into the copyedit itself.--Akrasia25 (talk) 18:12, 14 April 2019 (UTC)
Akrasia25, I appreciate that you were making a good-faith effort to make sure it was clear that you were copping material as opposed to running original content. however, probably because I do a fair amount of work associated with copyright, and I'm familiar with the best practices approach, when I get a notification that some cop material has been added, I automatically two the edit summary. This absent to be one of the practices not well known by many editors; several times each week someone does and does not include the edit summary. No big deal, and you might never need to know this in the future but it does make our life easier if you remember to use the edit summary next time. S Philbrick(Talk) 18:59, 14 April 2019 (UTC)

Managing a conflict of interest

Hello, Akrasia25. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Hans Thewissen, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

 • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
 • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the request edit template);
 • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
 • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
 • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. --Animalparty! (talk) 06:46, 21 April 2019 (UTC)

@Animalparty: I don't know what more I can say. I already said on that talk page that I know the professor and asked him for a photo. The page has been reviewed and there have been no edits since March 1st, 2019 for a spelling error --Akrasia25 (talk) 11:37, 21 April 2019 (UTC)
Sorry for the somewhat heavy-handed auto message above. I just wanted you to be aware of the guidelines for potential COI. No accusations of wrongdoing. Cheers! --Animalparty! (talk) 18:46, 21 April 2019 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Health Action International

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Health Action International, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. DGG ( talk ) 02:14, 14 May 2019 (UTC)

Nomination of Health Action International for deletion

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Health Action International is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Health Action International until a consensus is reached, and anyone, including you, is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. DGG ( talk ) 16:13, 14 May 2019 (UTC)

Health Action International

I've been looking at the sources you've been citing on Health Action International and part of the problem is that most of them are not really about Health Action International. They mention HAI and/or its involvement in various projects, but they aren't about it. What you need to find in order to save it from deletion are articles about it, that were not created by it. ~ ONUnicorn(Talk|Contribs)problem solving 13:02, 15 May 2019 (UTC)

Question about WP:MISSING

Hi Akrasia. I have a mostly complete list for Wrestling Title Histories (4th ed.). How would I go about adding a missing topics list to WP:MISSING? Thanks. 173.162.220.17 (talk) 15:27, 16 May 2019 (UTC)

Maybe you should start by creating an account on WP. Then you could make a draft page with the list in your sandbox and go through the instructions/training on how to create your first article. If the article is approved you could then link to it on WP:MISSING. There are so many missing articles I am not sure it will be notable but that's a start.--Akrasia25 (talk) 11:32, 18 May 2019 (UTC)
