Overview

The project coordinators are generally responsible for maintaining all of the procedural and administrative aspects of the project, and serve as the designated points-of-contact for procedural issues. They are not, however, endowed with any special executive powers.

The Lead Coordinator bears overall responsibility for coordinating the project; the Coordinators aid the Lead Coordinator and focus on specific areas that require special attention.

The primary responsibility of the project coordinators is the maintenance and housekeeping work involved in keeping the project and its internal processes running smoothly; this includes a variety of tasks, such as keeping the announcement and open task lists updated, overseeing the assessment and review processes, managing the proposal and creation of task forces, and so forth. There is fairly little involved that couldn't theoretically be done by any other editor, of course—in only a few places have the coordinators been explicitly written into a process—but, since experience suggests that people tend to assume that someone else is doing whatever needs to be done, it has proven beneficial to formally delegate responsibility for this administrative work to a specified group.

The coordinators also have several additional roles. They serve as the project's designated points of contact, and are explicitly listed as people to whom questions can be directed in a variety of places around the project. In addition, they have (highly informal) roles in leading the drafting of project guidelines, overseeing the implementation of project decisions on issues like category schemes and template use, and helping to resolve disputes and keep discussions from becoming heated and unproductive.

• The election will be conducted using simple approval voting. Any member of the project may support as many of the candidates as they wish. The candidate with the highest number of endorsements will become the Lead Coordinator (provided he or she is willing to assume the post); the next eight candidates will become Coordinators. The number of Coordinators may be increased if there is a tie or near-tie for the last position.

I have worked with the WikiProject for over a year now. Comments and questions for Bedford

• What have been the achievements of which you are most proud within the Military history WikiProject?
  • I would have to say accessing 10,000 different articles in Tag & Assess 2007, from which I earned my WikiChevrons with Oak Leaves. I am also well on my way to bringing several of my military articles to FA, and one to FL by November when I finally take the pictures for it. Also, many of the DYKs on Portal:American Civil War were from me, and I have helped with its "This Week" feature.

• What skills/qualities can you contribute as a Milhist coordinator?
  • My ability to quickly assess a multitude articles, and spellcheck other people's articles (For some reason, I am excellent in checking others' mistakes, but not my own.) I also have few RL obligations, giving me more time to lend a quick hand to fix problems as they developed for the Project. I can also quickly write several new articles and bring them to at least Start class within hours. Lastly, I am an idea man; where others have brainstorms I have brainmonsoons.

    • Besides Wandalstouring question above: these skills/qualities you've mentioned above are not really important for a coordinator, as most regular members of the project can easily assess, copyedit and create stub/start class articles.       • It has been proven that I can assess hundreds of articles in a day, and that I know where to find the information to verify information on articles. A recently banned user inflamed passions of a few female editors to convince them I was some kind of anti-female zealot after I defended the placement of a DYK hook for someone else's article. He did a great job in making sure that reasoning wasn't used in an ANI, and in the height of it even Jimbo Wales fell for it and desysopped me without due process. Fortunately for WP that user was caught for what he was a month later, and is gone. I stand by my actions.--King Bedford I ^{Seek his grace} 03:36, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

I think this version of events is a bit sugarcoated. If I recall the controversy, you were edit warring and making disparaging remarks to those who tried to intervene for a resolution to the problem. Nothing sugarcoated about it. I wasn't edit-warring; I was trying to keep WP from being censored, and I was the one slandered for it, and those who did the slandering got away with it, although one was recently blocked for three months and another got stymied when she tried to censor some userboxes.--King Bedford I ^{Seek his grace} 22:10, 10 September 2008 (UTC)

That was referring to my typos. As for controlling my temper and interests, considering that I never misused my admin tools, even through I had people purposely try to ruin my articles just to hurt them for DYK purposes, it has been shown that I can control myself.--King Bedford I ^{Seek his grace} 18:56, 11 September 2008 (UTC)

  • Quality and quantity needs equal consideration from a coordinator. We need to get as many of our Start articles to B-class ASAP, and then turn B-class articles turn into GAs as possible, as well as turn our GAs and As into FAs. But, overly focus on quality and you neglect quantity; if articles are never started because people are too concern about articles being B and GA from the beginning, the articles may never get started. Sometimes coordinators need to plant the seeds for articles, and hope that other editors in the future will cultivate the seeds into B.--King Bedford I ^{Seek his grace} 00:14, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

I've been active on Wikipedia for just under 18 months, having contributed significantly in that time-period. Most of my contributions within that time-period have been related to The World Wars, specifically Canadian Military History within that time-period. Despite occasional issues with heavy school-workload, I am still able to contribute to the Military History Project with fervor & (for lack of a better term) intensity.

Comments and questions for Cam

• What have been the achievements of which you are most proud within the Military history WikiProject?
  • My contributions to Canadian Military History, including several FAs, As, & GAs. I am also quite proud of my work within article logistics (primarily ref-finding and technical copyedits). Assessing 1,800 articles in the BCAD Drive was also a significant achievement on my part (considering how much else I had going on at the time)

• What skills/qualities can you contribute as a Milhist coordinator?
  • I have significant experience in article-writing, logistics, assessment, review, and copyediting (having won awards for my work in all of them). I am a member of The FA-Team (my specialization being in reference-format & photo copyright), and thus also have access to significant non-MilHist resources for coypediting and article support (which can be easily utilized should the need arise). I have extensive experience in review and assessment, and am able to rapidly assess large numbers of articles without losing focus or concentration (or skimping on the quality of the assessment, for that matter). If elected as a coordinator, I would concentrate my own efforts on assessment monitoring, reviewing at PR, ACR, FAR, and FAC; as well as copyediting and project logistics (notice-boards, announcing ACRs & PRs, tracking assessment logs). I am very open to new ideas and suggestions on how to improve the way in which the project runs, and am fairly able to take things in stride and adjust my views on wiki-issues (C-Class, changes in assessment style, changes in project logistics, etc).

I've been writing for Wikipedia since late 2006, although for most of 2007 I didn't do much (I worked on T-26 and got it through a FAC, and also worked on Second Battle of Kharkov until it passed its A-class review. I have contributed a bit since I started editing in vigor in 2008, although I have stopped in the past week because of issues with people editing articles without including references and changing my referenced "facts". As a coordinator I'd like to arbitrate similar cases to make sure that our articles are all well referenced with reliable and verifiable sources, not with online resources that are unreferenced themselves. Furthermore, I'd like to take a more active role in helping other members put their articles through FACs and A-class reviews. I think this is a serious problem with the project (lack of reviewers). So, these will probably be my two main foci, apart from updating whatever needs to be updated (banner, etc) and partaking in relevant discussions (which I have been doing to a limit, already). This does mean that I will probably not write for specific articles as much as before (and, well, I feel a bit disheartened after my late experience with the Panzer IV article, where people were changing my sourced information with unreferenced "facts"). But, I feel that I can do more good as a coordinator than as a writer.

• What have been the achievements of which you are most proud within the Military history WikiProject?
  • I don't believe I have a single achievement that I am "most proud" of. I have five featured articles insofar, and I will probably put two or three more articles through FAC (AMX-30E is currently going through FAC). I have put T-26, Panzer I, Verdeja (tank), Lince (tank) and Leopard 2E through FAC. I have been awarded two WikiChevrons and the A-class MilHist medal - Catalan's awards.
• What skills/qualities can you contribute as a Milhist coordinator?
  • I am innovative and I like to propose new things. I am good at organizing people and I think this is a powerful tool for this project, especially since I've been sensing that there's less people reviewing. I think the review is important, because it allows the editors who take the time to put articles all the way through the FAC to do so quickly (the faster one reviews, the faster the editor can improve the article). I also have a lot of time (despite of class), so I can keep track of a lot of things going on with the project. I am bilingual (Spanish & English) and I have access to a lot of different databases (JSTOR, etc).

Eurocopter

I have been a member of the Military history project since March 2007 and a coordinator of it since August 2007, with more than 95% of my contributions on Wikipedia being made within this project. During my last term as a coordinator, I performed most of the coordinator's duties and managed the A Class review, our best and most active review process. As an editor, i'm most active within Aviation, Romanian, as well as Soviet/Russian military history topics. I quite get used with the work made every day in the service of the project, and I think the project itself and its members get used with me occupying the coordinator position. • What have been the achievements of which you are most proud within the Military history WikiProject?
  • I created over 60 military history articles, lists and templates, promoted several articles to GA & A-class status, and created the Romanian military history task force. By now, my most important contribution to the project was made within the Cold War article (currently an FAC and hopefully my first FA contribution), which is one of the most important articles of our project, rated no. 10 on WP:MHSP.
• What skills/qualities can you contribute as a Milhist coordinator?
  • Considering my experience as a coordinator, I can easily continue to perform any coordinator task and duty, as well as managing certain departments of our project. I have only been involved in the Military History Project for a few months, so my background on the project itself is shallow. But, I have developed a wiki page dealing with a military unit, and associated battles during World War II: The US 60th Infantry Regiment. I believe that Wikipedia is important in captuing historic facts that may not exist in other places on the internet. In addition, I am a firm believer in bringing military history onto the internet so that it is not lost and the sacrifices of our countrymen are always remembered.

Comments and questions for JASON

• What have been the achievements of which you are most proud within the Military history WikiProject?
  • Providing a page about the Battle for Port Lyatuey. While it is not robust at this time, it is coming along nicely. Little historic information is available about the battle, which is why I brought it to Wikipedia. In essence, I believe this is part of what makes Wikipedia an exeception tool: the ability to collect valuable and factual information from many people, which otherwise may be lost.
• What skills/qualities can you contribute as a Milhist coordinator?
  • I do project management professionally, both in the cyber realm and in the real world. I have done this extensively for the past 11 years. Additionally, I have served in the military, and can offer insight that others may not have.   • Primarily, provide a vision for the portal, organize, task and monitor development of the portal through article development etc. as listed in the responsibilities section, monitor sites, review sites, help develop others who would like to contribute information to bring fourth facts and not unsupported heresy, keep the site clean, and keep things coordinated and cohesive......build the team and build the portal....daily.

You've got all the qualifications, but with fewer than 50 edits on only about 4-5 pages, I'd say thats insufficient for this role... Additionally, I notice that all your edits have been only from the past month and a half, (at least in ur username). I suggest that you continue to do the good work you've done on Battle for Port Lyautey and extend it to other military related articles. A more active participation on MILHIST would also be great... Let me not get ahead of myself. I have only been with this project for a few short months. I have not made any contributions of "outstanding quality". I have no FA class articles to my name. I would not say that I have more expertise than any of the other candidates. Indeed, I would say that the opposite is in fact true in many cases. But I look to what I might give to the project, not what I have already given. Though it is unlikely that I will succeed in my candidacy, I intend this to be a lesson in how the Coordinator nominations work, and what is truly expected of a candidate. I would not call it a lesson in humility, because I do not have high expectations. If, however, I do succeed, I guarantee that I will devote my time and effort to to the smooth running and furtherance of this project. If not, I will have learnt a valuable lesson, and will continue working with the project until I have learned enough of its workings to be able to apply for candidacy with truly high expectations. I typically spend a good deal of time on Wikipedia everyday, although on weekends I am not generally active. Were I selected, I would be willing to forsake the time I give to other areas of Wikipedia, and devote myself solely to this project. I would say that a Wikipedian in an administrative position should spend the majority of their time doing administrative tasks, and interacting with the community. Interest and participation in the project is flagging, especially within the "Tag and Assess" area. Decreased participation is worrying. Were I to succeed, this is one of the areas I would work in. The A-class reviews are also of importance, and if more editors were willing to participate in this area, the project would flow more smoothly. I've been editing wikipedia for just over a year (July 2007), and joined this project in November 2007 after getting involved with WikiProject Ships and noticing that most of my work also came under the purview of this project. I became an sysop in January 2008 and I have also become a fairly-prolific editor, making over 27,500 edits in just over a year while participating in both Tag & Assess drives as well as BCAD, and continuing to do assessments on a regular basis. The project has honored me by presenting me with the WikiChevrons with Oak Leaves for my work with regards to maritime warfare specifically naval vessels. I have also received many other awards with regards to my work under the umbrella of this project.

I was a candidate in the last cycle of elections, and I ended up with 22 votes (the most of any candidate that was not elected). This did not leave me disappointed and I've tried to maintain my level of activity from that time forward. • What have been the achievements of which you are most proud within the Military history WikiProject?
  • Other than the assessment drives and constant article maintenance that I partake in ... The expansion and successful GA nomination that I have done on USS Texas (BB-35) with coordinator TomStar81 comes to mind. Also my work with Tom in his quest to have a Featured Topic on the Iowa-class battleships (We're almost there: Status report). Specifically on USS Illinois (BB-65) which I successfully expanded to A-Class before Tom took over at FAC. Also, keep an eye on Iowa class battleship conversion proposals, I'm currently doing off-wiki research on this and hope to have the article written soon to complement the Iowa class Featured Topic. -MBK₀₀₄ 07:42, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
• What skills/qualities can you contribute as a Milhist coordinator?
  • I have watched with great interest how the coordinators keep this project's assessment and review departments running smoothly and in the past few months I've been taking a more active role with helping them out there (except for actually closing the reviews). I feel that I have a strong grasp on how this is done and am ready to step right in and follow those duties. I am also listed at Highly Active Users which is a conduit for editors to ask questions of more experienced editors. If I was a coordinator the project would also be represented there. I have participated in quite a few (but not as many as I would like) Peer Reviews and A-Class reviews along with a few FACs and FARs and reviews of GANs. This is also an area that I feel that the coordinators should participate in. As such, if elected I would strive to try and review more articles than I currently do as much as real-life commitments and my article-writing will permit. I am experienced with article maintenance and I've used this tool for quite some time. I have been a member of this wikiproject for over two years and was elected a coordinator in February. I've now performed almost all of the tasks which coordinators carry out (I think that I'm still yet to close an A-class review) and have made suggestions to the project's management which were adopted by the other coordinators. I've also been monitoring the articles nominated for deletion and have tagged military AfDs for the military-related deletion sorting list and highlighted articles where deletion seems unwarranted on the relevant task forces talk pages. As an editor, I've focused on articles relating to Australian military history but have also contributed to articles on a very wide range of topics and have participated in many discussions on the project's talk pages.

• What have been the achievements of which you are most proud within the Military history WikiProject?
  • I'm very proud to have taken the lead in bringing three articles (Axis Naval Activity in Australian Waters, Australian Defence Force and Timor Leste Defence Force) to FA standard and played an important role in helping several more articles reach FA or A-class standard. I am also proud to have voted on many of the articles which have been either nominated for FA or A-class and commented on many of the articles which have been nominated for peer reviews, and I hope that these comments helped the editors working on those articles.
• What skills/qualities can you contribute as a Milhist coordinator?
  • I think that I've made a useful contribution to keeping the project running over the last six months by monitoring requests for the different types of review, commenting on proposals and making proposals. Quite a few editors have also sought my advice or used me as a point of contact for the project, and I hope that I was of assistance to them. My knowledge of the project and the relevant guidelines and conventions has increased greatly during my time in this job, and as a result, I think that I can continue to make a positive contribution as one of the coordinators if I am re-elected. While it is not a pre-requisite for the job, I am also an administrator and, when necessary, have been able to use the admin privileges to safeguard articles. I have been very active on military articles, especially battles during the American Revolutionary War. I took part in the Tag & Assess drive and recieved a Barnstar for my work. I have expanded many articles to B-Class, and I am currently working on a couple to get up to GA. I am also working on the Siege of Yorktown. I believe I may work on Richard Montgomery quite soon, and that needs a lot of work.   • I would say the Battle of Trenton. I took this article from almost nothing, to GA. Sadly it failed the last FA review but I have nominated it for A-Class. I took the Siege of Boston from scratch as well, and made is a GA. I have helped work Marquis de Lafayette and John Jay towards GA-Class.
• What skills/qualities can you contribute as a Milhist coordinator?
  • I can asses a lot of articles, and I have a lot of experience working with people with on military history topics(2 years). Through experience I have learned how to work with people, to come to peaceful resolutions to conflicts. I would give advice to newcomers to the project, trhough my past experiences.

Yes. That was my first drive, and I didn't realize sections like Bio had to be tagged. So, for example, if an article was about a Japanese Mil Hist topic, I would bypass it if it said Asian Mil Hist task force, and if it was about a person, I would not tag Bio. I understand that much better, and I started to go over it, but I had to go on leave during the summer so I was not able to complete the tag and assess drive. Both aspects are extremely important in the coordinator position. For one, the Military History Wikiproject is one of the largest Wikiprojects in Wikipedia, and that said there are many article to be assessed. However, quality is always very important, and as I found out in my first few GA assessments, it is always not the best idea to speed through an assessment. It is not only required in assessments, but should be kept in mind throughout all Wikipedia editing. I have been on Wikipedia since September 2005, though I hardly did anything in my first year. I have significantly contributed to five featured articles, and successfully copy-edited for FAC six more. I have been a coordinator since August 2007 and lead coordinator since February 2008, the same month that I became an admin.

Milhist is one of the largest wikiprojects as well as being perhaps the most innovative. Our structures and systems are widely copied/cloned throughout the English Wikipedia and our influence is great. Our reputation was built during the two years that Kirill was lead coordinator and part of my agenda has been to enhance our flagship role. To this end, my main contributions have been to (1) better organize the 70,000+ articles within our scope through drives; and, more importantly, (2) to find ways to improve the quantity and quality of our A-class articles and featured content. • Assessment drives: I have set up, recruited for, and administered three large milhist drives (T&A07, BCAD and T&A08). The format has since been much copied by other wikiprojects. A key innovative element was the worklist, which I designed and developed with Kirill, and it was his script that provided the data. I also set up and moderated post-drive workshops, to get feedback for fine-tuning and improving subsequent drives. (I also designed the service awards for Milhist and WikiProject India).
• Classification: I helped develop and fine-tune the B-Class criteria and overhaul the new A-class criteria. I also wrote the B-class FAQ.and A-Class FAQ. The objective was to make the two sets of criteria more consistent and easier to understand – for editors and reviewers alike – with A-Class blatantly being a beefed-up and enhanced version of B-Class.
• Review processes: I have worked on developing more stringent and effective peer and A-class reviews. The objective here was to provide advice, support and encouragement on the path to FA status, so that the burden for improvement didn't fall too heavily on one or two isolated users. In practical terms, this was dependent on increasing the number of active reviewers and improving the quality of reviewer contribution. In addition to sending out various invitations encouraging editors to review, I also created three review alert templates: {{WPMILHIST A-Class Review alerts}}, {{WPMILHIST Copy-editing alerts}}, and {{WPMILHIST Review alerts}}.I also designed and initiated the new A-Class medal. Although there remains much to do, the overall strategy has probably been successful as we now have 97 A-Class articles (as against 69 in Jan 2008) and 274 featured articles (compared with 206 in Jan 2008).
• Logistics department: To provide back up for editors taking articles to A-Class and FAC, I initiated and set up the logistics department and then contacted potential contributors inviting them to sign up. Many thanks go to all those who have so far participated! We are still short of, for example, copy-editors, so do sign up if you can help :)

• What skills/qualities can you contribute as a Milhist coordinator?

• I'm analytical and love problem-solving. This is useful for some of the strategical stuff which coordinators traditionally look after. I also enjoy developing and then implementing new ideas, which is combined with a curious appetite for repetitive tasks (like setting up worklists and sending out messages, useful in a process-based project). I'm quite business-like, focused on keeping discussions more or less on track, and enjoy working with other people to find solutions/consensus. Because we're all volunteers, and have other things to do with our time, I am committed to keeping the wikiproject as editor-friendly and as stress-free as possible and making it a place people want to come back to.

I've been in with this project for a number of years, and have served as a coordinator for a year now. I still enjoy the experience, so I figure I'll stand for third term, if the community will have me back as a Coordinator.   • Mostly its generic stuff, like suggesting coordinators be better prepared to adopt a task force created while the nine selected are serving there term and things along those lines. In this respect, my suggestions are sometimes simply somments or questions aimed at tightening or closing loose gaps in certain processes (like when to award the new A-class medal and how we might improve our T&A drives). The biggest suggestion this last seven months was the suggestion by me and Davies to update/overhaul the A-class reviews so that articles clearing the A-class bar would be better able to handle the FA-criteria. This push for change ultiemtely resulted in the adoption of the current five point ACR list which will (hopefully) help our articles clear FAC at faster speeds and with fewer compliants.

  • As a coordinator and an admin, I feel I owe it to everyone to edit in a sound state of mind. When I get angry or upset, and then come here, I do not edit with 100% clarity, I edit under the influence of my emotions, and that can be a dangerous thing to do. In the case of this incident, if I had remained on here in as volitale a state as I was in there was a chance I may have snapped and tore into someone who made a simple mistake, or ignored protocal when exercising admin privilages. No one needs that kind of help, and it only breeds more anger, so I felt the best thing to do would be to leave for a few days to get my emotions back under control. I have been a member of the project for a long time now, since I started editing Wikipedia. I am an admin and have been a coordinator since February. I would like to think that I have been active in my role as coordinator, keeping an eye on most areas of the project. I am active in most areas of Featured content and in our review department. I think I have been a help rather than a hindrance to the project over the last 6 months.

• What have been the achievements of which you are most proud within the Military history WikiProject?
  • I have several articles of Featured quality to my name. I have 6 Featured articles to my name and 10 Featured lists. I am most proud of my contribution to Victoria Cross related topics. I have one Featured Topic and am aiming for another one within the Milhist scope. I am aiming to have all of {{Victoria Cross recipients}} as Featured.
• What skills/qualities can you contribute as a Milhist coordinator?
  • I hope to continue my work from the last 6 months. I have helped to keep Category:Unassessed military history articles at zero by emptying it every night. I am always available for help in assessing or reassessing articles. I am quite happy to slug away at menial tasks in the background as is shown by my contribs in the last 6 months, as well as the more high-profile jobs. • Is there anything about the current functioning of the project as a whole that you would change and/or modify? Cam (Chat) 04:52, 4 September 2008 (UTC)
  • In terms of infrastructure, simple answer: no. I think our project is well-run and it functions as it needs to: smoothly and seamlessly. We are envied by other projects for the simple depth of organisation that we have. I think we need a way of announcing large-scale changes to the project, such as the C-Class discussion, in a more visible way; perhaps use our project notice a bit more. I did notice the complaints that the C-Class discussion wasn't as well advertised as some people would have liked.
  • I think we need to concentrate more as a project on article development rather than article creation and tagging. We have 71,000 articles tagged as being in our scope. We have 400 FA/A, 300 GA, 3000 B, and all the rest are not of acceptable quality, 30000 stubs, 36000 starts. Whilst this is much better than other projects, we do need to concentrate on developing articles now.
  • That being said, I have worked under the current setup for a long time now, and as such, I have come to accept the current way of doing things. I would love to try and get more peer-reviewers and A-Class reviewers, but that is always time and expertise permitting, there is nothing that we could change really, that would entice more reviewers. We already have {{WPMILHIST A-Class Review alerts}} and the larger {{MILHIST Announcements}}, but it goes beyond infrastructure, it is setup, we just need more people to utilise it. Active on Wikipedia since December 2005, admin since May 2006, started editing military articles in April 2007, coord since Feb 2008. • Obviously, I think my articles are the most important thing that I have contributed, because I think it's important to set a good example to other editors (I tend to have a strong belief in "back to basics"). All were about Vietnam.
• I tend to have a somewhat better understanding of the MOS than people who have not written many FAs before—not many people bother reading such a technical thing and learn it on the run when they have to, and it is pretty dry stuff, so I try to help people who are less experienced with FAC by fixing these sorts of things, because such matters can wear on their patience or deter them from trying to submit FACs, especially when they are not used to the attention of detail that is needed. I've started unilaterally doing MOS cleanups on a pile of older/less scrutinised A-class articles, eg Cambodian Civil War , Cambodian Campaign, Battle of Khe Sanh , Sihanouk Trail

• What skills/qualities can you contribute as a Milhist coordinator?

• Primarily my first-hand understanding of things that are required with improving articles, so I can help people who aren't feeling so confident with producing quality articles. I have reviewed hundreds of articles at GA/ACR/FAc and have long stamina and ability to pay attention to detail. Referendum on new role for Kirill Lokshin

In recognition of his two years as lead coordinator, during which he did much to create the project that thrives today, and of his subsequent hard work for the project in a co-opted capacity, the current coordinators propose that Kirill be appointed Coordinator Emeritus for as long as Kirill wishes to continue in the role.   • Essentially, that Kirill will be co-opted as an honorary coordinator for his work as the head of the project for two years. It means that he is permanently (or as long as he wishes) endowed with the "powers" (for lack of a better term) of the coordinators of the project, despite having relinquished the role as lead coordinator. • Could we possibly amend this arrangement slightly? While personally I have the greatest possible respect for Kirill and believe that in essentials this is a good proposal, might we amend the wording to 'indefinitely' rather than as long as he wishes? Though I strongly suspect it won't be necessary, this would give us the opinion to come up with a process to remove him at some point should it be in the interests of the project.
