To segue from that, there's a bit in Julian Gough's blog post about the poem that stuck with me:

I had, essentially, given my story as a gift to a couple of hundred million people all around the world [...]; but I had refused to allow any of them to give me anything in return. And that was a kind of arrogance, too. A blockage in the flow of love.

Indeed, I had actively hidden away from love. [...] I frequently got Twitter DMs, and emails, and messages through my website, that told me how much the End Poem had meant to people. [...] All kinds of beautiful, generous, vulnerable messages. But, often, too overwhelmed by emotion [...], I wouldn't even reply.

[... T]he universe told me that it wasn’t acceptable for me to give love, but then refuse to receive it. That was just fake humility; another form of arrogance, of ego. I had to allow people to say thank you; I had to accept whatever gifts people might wish to offer in return, because too much charge was building up along that blocked circuit.

I had to complete the circuit. Let it flow.

If I have one overriding challenge on this site, it's having a clinically fucked-up memory. The upshot of my dissociative condition is that I tend to index things by topic, not by time, such that I can drop something for months and then pick up right where I left off. Here, in an environment where that would at times not be acceptable, I force myself to respond promptly to admin accountability inquiries and time-sensitive editorial concerns... but otherwise I often let things linger. And I'd told myself that that wasn't hurting anyone, and I guess I was right in the direct sense, because I've never been slow to respond to something where someone was owed a speedy response. But the quote from Gough got me to see it a bit differently. I've gotten a lot of WikiLove and often I've just never gotten around to responding to it, and that does have a harm in its own way, because it fails to create the circuit someone tried to initiate. And as much as I'd like to blame that all on a shitty memory, maybe some of it is a feeling that I don't deserve that gratitude. But that's unfair to the people who've felt I do deserve it.
So, going back to November... @EducatedRedneck: Thank you. That means a lot. DYK for 1967 Lake Erie skydiving disaster edit

On 19 July 2023, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article 1967 Lake Erie skydiving disaster, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that an air traffic controller's confusion of two planes' locations caused sixteen skydivers to drown after they unknowingly jumped over Lake Erie? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/1967 Lake Erie skydiving disaster. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, 1967 Lake Erie skydiving disaster), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Highest of the month so far -- congratulations! I'm experimenting with hook placements a little; I'm not sure how much the "quirky last slot" structure is borne out by user experience data (as opposed to pageviews data). Placing this one in the second slot seems to have worked out for it. That makes 7/10 top hooks this month so far ones I promoted, including 4 of the top 5, with 2/5 from that set alone. Your essay made me buy the game. I suspect I will be overwhelmed by the gameplay and rules. :D Valereee (talk) 14:46, 4 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Valereee: Well if you have any questions, let me know! I recommend playing when in a decent headspace emotionally, with a free schedule the day after. Solitaire is more satisfying than coöp IMO, but if you do solitaire I recommend having someone around you can talk to as you play.
Also, we actually gave away our own copy after the playthrough recounted in the essay—felt wrong to keep playing—which came around to annoy me when writing the article on the game. The picture I uploaded of the status tokens, I had to crop from an old one I took mid-game. So if you feel like taking a better picture of tokens, and/or a picture of the cover of the Book of Scripts (which, like the tokens, I believe to be copyrightable in Poland but not the U.S., so eligible for local upload), feel free! -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (they|xe|she) 15:17, 4 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thanks! I was planning on solitaire as the hubs isn't a huge board gamer, but he's always around and after 30 years still mostly charmed rather than otherwise by the rabbit holes I go down and the bees I get in my bonnet. Totally happy to take photos, which will in all likelihood show I'm Doing It Wrong. Okay, first of questions likely to become annoying...after having recently discovered that a jigsaw puzzle needs one of these to ensure it won't require a trip to the vet to see if the missing pieces are inside the cat...can this be be put away between sessions? Valereee (talk) 16:50, 4 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Valereee: Yes, there's a save system built in! Although I'd recommend taking a picture of everything too just to be safe, at least if you're an anxious type to me. That's actually why I have the pic that the tokens are cropped from. Also, a ping to @BiomatrixBackup in case she has any insights on the intersection of cats and boardgames, both of which she happens to be an expert on. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (they|xe|she) 17:17, 4 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
Ah, like, actually medically? I thought you were joking, lol. There are many good intersections of cats and board games, such as Calico, The Isle of Cats series, etc. The bad intersections involving cats eating pieces, I must say I've never actually run into. You so rarely get feline patients who have eaten something ridiculous, it's the canines who eat everything, and when it does happen, it's never been a board game piece in the history of my practice. Hmmm. Clearly I need more experience. BiomatrixBackup (talk) 17:23, 4 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Not a thought behind those eyes
Having once called a vet to ask about the dangers of eating cat poop and being asked, "And how old is your lab?", quite agree on the general higher likelihood of dogs to eat things. I've had cats who have eaten yarn and tinsel, but it turned out there was no evidence the cat had done anything but steal, play with, and eventually hide the puzzle pieces. The yarn appeared to be the bigger issue as I had no idea how long a piece of yarn had been ingested. They admitted her, stupid thing. Valereee (talk) 17:49, 4 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
"But that cat", the dogs say, "I like her. She's one of the dogs. You see what she did with that yarn?" -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (they|xe|she) 17:55, 4 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
Right? Not every cat could actually eat what turned out to be nearly three feet of yarn. I mean, it's not that easy. I actually knew yarn had been eaten rather than having simply disappeared only because I noticed her, Bill the Cat-like, yacking as the final couple inches disappeared into her gullet. I was like...what do you do? Trying to pull it back out didn't seem to be ideal. Valereee (talk) 18:07, 4 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
Okay, I've taken photos of literally everything during unboxing. I believe we can use under fair use anything that is discussed in the text in a way that would make a photo helpful to illustrate, but I'm not familiar with the game at all at this point. Would you want me to put them into a gallery there so you can put them where they should go? I think there are probably a few that could even go to commons -- a photo of the open box with the various pieces in their slots, etc., may be okay for commons? @Edwardx: Thank you! This is going to be one of my go-to gnomish tasks for a while—not surname articles specifically, but more generally pages in Quarry 63493, "Possible non-CONCISE titles on enwiki", which looks for cases where the primary landing page for a term is a redirect to something other than a DAB page or list containing the page title as a substring. Per WP:PRIMARYREDIRECT, many such pages are valid, and with name articles I'm skipping past any that redirect to a specific person (even if—between you, me, and 132 talkpage watchers—I think that some editors are a bit overzealous in declaring people the primary topic for a mononymous forename or surname). You're welcome to help out with the query if you'd like, as is anyone else; maybe work from the back, or skip a few thousand rows, to avoid collisions. (N.B.: I may revise and re-run the query later if I run into a streak where I'm getting a lot of false positives for a specific scenario, like I did with DAB pages and lists.) Either way, again, thanks for the acknowledgment. Been doing other stuff the past few weeks, but when I get back to this query you'll probably see me lighting up your watchlist again. :) -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she/they) 04:23, 12 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

@GRuban: Thanks. :) You know, I have my share of regrets as a Wikipedian, but answering that question honestly isn't one, nor is giving the community the chance to decide whether that kind of disposition made me more or less qualified to be an arb. The answer seems to have been "less", and I'm quite content with that. Just means I'm too cool. ;) I've already been to the land of burnout and back—drafted and deleted resignation statements twice—and found new priorities both off- and on-wiki. I'm happy in my current niche, wandering back and forth between content-creation periods and projectspace periods. Maybe someday I'll be stupid enough to run again, and maybe that time the community will punish me for that folly by electing me.

P.S. I always feel like it's tacky to thank someone for !voting "per" oneself, but in this case I did less for the agreement and more because it's been ages since anyone picked the third pronoun option. I've been working today on a piece of fiction where a lot of the characters take Spivak pronouns, and was thinking about how neglected my poor neopronouns are. Thanks for looking after them... Maybe someday they'll fix the Echo bug that forced me to randomize the order in my signature. Well, I just finished your GA review. Because you have worked so hard, it was not a difficult task. Well done on a great piece of work. I came here to congratulate you and saw the above drama. It also made me recall - we have "interacted" in the sense I opposed your RFA.

I've decided to leave some love for a few reasons.

First, I was inexperienced at voting there and I do not think my vote was quite fair in hindsight. While I remain opposed to what you had said about being open to desysoping Trump supporters (or whatever it was you said, and keep in mind I do not like him either), there was no evidence I had to support a presumption you may be biased in future.

Second, if I were to vote again, I'd support this time.

Third, I liked working with you, even if only briefly. You are nice!

Fourth, you write amazing content, and if that is not a reason to let someone know they are valued on Wikipedia, I do not know what is.

Happy tenth anniversary Tamzin. You are kind, you are doing your best, and that is all anyone can ask.

“When in the evening we are alone with our most existential thoughts, it is then that we come face to face with the most precious truths that we discover in our brief existence in this world. Just before fatigue envelopes us, taking us into sleep. We think of what our lives actually mean. And then we know how lucky we are if we still enjoy consciousness, rationality and love. But the greatest of these is love.” ― Michael Kirby

@MaxnaCarta: Well, I guess this goes to show I took Liz' advice to heart in terms of forgetting who voted which way. Granted, with >450 names to remember, it was pretty easy to let those fall out of my mind.
Thank you for the further compliments on my content work. I'd like to put the article up for FAC soon, I think. I'll take one more dive to see if I can dig up any post-Nieves analysis beynd Mills, and maybe add a teeny bit to §§ Prior jurisprudence and Lozman and Riviera Beach, but your comments solidify my impression that it's close to complete.
That's a lovely quote. If I may get personal for a moment, as someone who is plural/multiple, if I've spent a whole day focused on the outer world, then the moment I go to sleep will often be the one moment I check in with the others I share a brain and body with. Often what I see is love, from another self within a divided self. Which makes me think which of The Four Loves that would be, if any, which makes me think of this quote from wikiquote:C. S. Lewis § Till We Have Faces: A Myth Retold (1956):

Lightly men talk of saying what they mean. Often when he was teaching me to write in Greek the Fox would say, "Child, to say the very thing you really mean, the whole of it, nothing more or less or other than what you really mean; that's the whole art and joy of words." A glib saying. When the time comes to you at which you will be forced at last to utter the speech which has lain at the center of your soul for years, which you have, all that time, idiot-like, been saying over and over, you'll not talk about joy of words. I saw well why the gods do not speak to us openly, nor let us answer. Till that word can be dug out of us, why should they hear the babble that we think we mean? How can they meet us face to face till we have faces?

Which I think rather nicely ties together several threads here. :)
Or maybe just seems confusing because Till We Have Faces is a weird book.

For a number of personal reasons I felt somewhat obliged to run—most notably because I think it's easy to stand on the sidelines and criticize, and a lot harder to do the work, and, having done the former, it seemed only fair to submit myself for consideration for the latter. But I'm pretty happy with the niche I've carved out for myself here, especially the past few months, mostly working on articles with some admin work mixed in. (Don't think I could ever be a pure "content admin" to the extent that you are, with 5 indefs ever, 4 of them self-requested, but seeking a balance more in the vein of my other RfA nom.) So, yeah, happy to keep on with what I've been doing. Looking to get Out of the Blue (book), Mi Shebeirach, and maybe Sarah Ashton-Cirillo to GA, Lozman v. City of Riviera Beach (2018) to FA, and got one page I think I can bring from redirect to FA. Much more pleasant than diving deeper into administrative areas. Feel free to make me your sixth indef if I try running again anytime soon. :D -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she|they|xe) 00:57, 23 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

Brownie and pork roll from Queen of Hearts, darling, A smart kitten, Schwede66, GRuban, DMacks, and Gerda Arendt edit

Saw you weren't an admin anymore. Glad it's voluntary and temporary, but hope everything is well with you and yours. But, now, my user highlighter script highlights you as pink, so it's not all bad! CLYDE TALK TO ME/STUFF DONE 16:52, 24 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

@ClydeFranklin, Darling, A smart kitten, Schwede66, GRuban, DMacks, and Gerda Arendt: Thank you all very much. Thank G-d, things have settled down a bit. Some things are still unclear, but without getting into details, the potential contigency where this situation would have become my overriding focus for months/years has not come to pass. I'm taking the opportunity to remain away from admin work a bit, get some content work done (Draft:LGBT synagogue in process, and something more audacious planned after that), and hopefully return to admin work sharper and better-rested when I'm ready. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she|they|xe) 02:20, 11 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, @Cullen328. Well, glad to be back, because where else could I be called an "idiot Jew" by someone I blocked for pushing an Israeli(!) POV? Gotta love this place, right? Be seeing you around, I'm sure. :) -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she|they|xe) 23:22, 21 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
For a while, some troll liked to send me emails calling me a "self-hating Jew" and worse. Clearly pertaining to Wikipedia, but not through Wikipedia email. That troll seems to have lost interest. Cullen328 (talk) 01:46, 22 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
I got called an antisemite for reverting an unreferenced addition to a BLP about a group the subject tweeted about years ago. I don't understand how people determine the motivations of others. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 01:51, 22 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
I long ago gave up paying attention to the names people called me on the Internet. And segregated emails into folders. But I came to say the same thing: welcome back, Tamzin, and thank you for your efforts to make Wikipedia a better place. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 21:37, 22 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
