• Oppose Disambiguation is required here as the death of George Floyd is a heavily publicized topic right now and for the foreseeable future, considering how such cases go on for lengthy times. Despite the one being a stub, both articles are notable in their respective ways, but I can see the other article becoming he primary topic soon. However, this article definitely needs to have the subtitle of "American footballer" instead of "American football". AshMusique (talk) 20:51, 26 May 2020 (UTC)

• Strong Oppose You are kidding me right? A look on page view analysis reveals this page was receiving on average around 2 views a day for the past month. This has only blown up massively now because of the police brutality case. The police brutality case is extremely likely to receive much, much more coverage, not only now but for a significant period of time. The increased interest in this article will be purely because of the police brutality case alone. The result of the move request was: Speedy move. Highly visible page with over 100,000 views/day recently. The previous move by HJ Mitchell, who appears to be offline, presumably was a bold move which missed that there was an ongoing move discussion (above) at #Requested_move_26_May_2020. The page was also then admin move protected. The move was not only contrary to the consesnsus at the time (after only 2 days open), but the edit summary of "WP:2DAB"—a guideline which allows for WP:NOPRIMARY even with two topics—seems to have been confused with the essay WP:2DABPRIMARY, which is more liberal about choosing a primary topic. No prejudice if someone wants to restart the previous preempted discussion.—Bagumba (talk) 04:48, 29 May 2020 (UTC)

• Just because someone participated in a popular sports league doesn't mean they immediately become extremely notable to the world at large. (And it's irrelevant whether you happen to consider it "one of the greatest sports leagues in the world". I might agree, and it very well may be, but that doesn't mean that players in that league automatically are granted "primary-topic notability".) Based on pageviews, it's clear that not very many people were coming to this page (literally 2 single pageviews A MONTH), until recently with the death of a completely different George Floyd. And even now (especially as the death of the other George Floyd has led to a wave of riots and protests across a country) people are only ending up on this page erroneously as the other George Floyd becomes more and more relevant. • This comment probably has little importance since I can't see this being moved back anyway but I'd point out that this George Floyd now gets around 54 views a day compared to 25,061 for the victim[[1]]. So indeed User:Paintspot pointing out that the basename only got around 2 views a day[[2]] before suggests people now are ending up here just out of interest, see Wikipedia:An article about yourself isn't necessarily a good thing#Miscellaneous things to be aware of point 8 about Michael Jackson.
