Indian 2 is an upcoming Indian Tamil-language vigilante action film directed by S. Shankar. A sequel to the 1996 film Indian, the film is being produced by Subaskaran Allirajah‘s Lyca Productions. The film stars Kamal Haasan and Nedumudi Venu reprising their roles as Senapathy and Krishnaswamy respectively from the first instalment, with Kajal Aggarwal, Siddharth, Dulquer Salman and RJ Balaji newly joining the cast. The film features music composed by Anirudh, collaborating for the first time with Kamal Haasan and Shankar. Cinematography and editing will be handled by S. Ravi Varman and A. Sreekar Prasad, respectively.[3]

The making of the film Indian 2 was initially revealed through the first season of the Bigg Boss Tamil in 2017 with Dil Raju as producer, but later Lyca Productions officially announced the making of the film on Kamal Haasan's birthday on 7 November 2018.[8] The film's dialogues are being written by Jayamohan, Kabilan Vairamuthu and Lakshmi Saravanakumar.[9][10] Director Shankar revealed that the film would go on floors from December 2018 and it is expected to conclude the shooting of the film in around 2019. Kamal Haasan officially announced in December 2018 that this would be his last film in his 58-year acting career.[11] Shooting was to have begun on 14 December,[12] but ultimately began on 18 January 2019.[13] The second schedule is supposed to begin on August 2019.[14]
