article review question

Hi HIAB,

I'm admittedly a bit new to this, but I was hoping you could clarify a couple things for me regarding the recent article of mine which you reviewed (Draft:Peter Sklar.

As I've been rather painstaking in taking facts from the many sources I've found, I'm surprised that it reads like an advertisement. Could you point out some sentences which you feel are in the tone of an advertisement rather than an encyclopedia? I've been basing my prose on many other notable living person biographies from the entertainment industry such as Reese Witherspoon, Darren Aronofsky, Audra McDonald, and Stephen Sondheim to name a few, and trying to model my style after them.

Also, you mentioned that the sources should refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources, not just to materials produced by the creator of the subject being discussed. Of the 58 sources I cited, 3 of them were created by the subject, and those are not referred to for any important information in the article. (For instance, I refer to his own biography on his own website to cite that he was in a band as a teenager). The other 55 sources are most certainly not produced by the subject, and in fact run the gamut of what I believe you would consider reliable: New York Times, E! True Hollywood Story, Phil Donahue, other talk shows, live news broadcasts/interviews, major print and online newspapers, etc.

If you could help me understand these two points- some examples of advertising language in my article, and some examples of the kinds of sources you're calling unreliable, as I've cited them, that would be extremely helpful.

Thank you! WriterFly (talk) 20:16, 14 August 2015 (UTC)

This will take a little time. I'll post in a hour when I'm at my home. Hell in a Bucket (talk) 20:18, 14 August 2015 (UTC)

Instead I will address this tomorrow. Need a short break from here. Hell in a Bucket (talk) 22:26, 14 August 2015 (UTC)

Thanks a lot Hell in a Bucket  ! Will look forward to your advice whenever you get to it. WriterFly (talk) 21:01, 15 August 2015 (UTC)

Let me start by saying that for me I believe less is more. I notice there is loads and loads of pictures, nothing wrong per se with that. I then notice the lecture career section and it seems more to promote the themes of his lectures rather then report on notable aspects about those same ones. Those two combos made me think it wasn't ready just yet. It is extensively sourced I note. Hell in a Bucket (talk) 23:06, 15 August 2015 (UTC)
Thanks for the feedback. So basically, you're saying that if I report on notable aspects about the lecture themes, instead of just presenting the themes of Mr. Sklar's lectures, and then remove some of the photos, the article will basically be ready for approval? WriterFly (talk) 00:17, 16 August 2015 (UTC)
I would have been more inclined to accept it had it not been there. There may be other tweaks other reviewers may see but for me those were the big ones. Hell in a Bucket (talk) 17:40, 16 August 2015 (UTC)
Thanks- just so I fully understand the process, when I fix these things and then re-submit, this will not go to you, so I could in theory keep having these conversations- asking a reviewer what was wrong, fixing it, and then having another reviewer find other problems...? I'll be working on fixing these two problems you identified tomorrow, but is there any way that I can re-submit it to you directly? Thanks WriterFly (talk) 04:33, 17 August 2015 (UTC)
You can let me know when it's done and I'll give it another look see. I would also suggest beefing up the sourcing to make sure WP:CORPDEPTH is not an issue. Hell in a Bucket (talk) 11:58, 17 August 2015 (UTC)

article review question - Distance Education Learning and Teaching Support

Hi HIAB, Thanks for the review of my article, I am going to work on the tone in the next few days and resubmit. I was wondering what this comment meant? "I'm not convinced a redirect wouldn't be appropriate." Could you clarify? Thanks Again! Sallywhite2008 (talk) 11:41, 19 August 2015 (UTC)

Hi there, I meant that it appears to be mostly associated with Memorial University and perhaps not enough notability to stand on it's own. Hell in a Bucket (talk) 15:08, 19 August 2015 (UTC)

Update

How long will the article be under consideration? LovinTheSunshine (talk) 01:48, 18 August 2015 (UTC)

Typically 7 days however that can be shorter or longer depending on the amount of discussion. Right now the best I think we can hope for is a no consensus close, it appears to meet the Soldier notability but it appears they are using a mix of {WP:GNG]] with a liberal dosage of WP:IAR. Hell in a Bucket (talk) 13:58, 18 August 2015 (UTC)
It's discouraging to see people vote without knowing much about the subject. LovinTheSunshine (talk) 16:47, 18 August 2015 (UTC)
Well honestly they have good points of the coverage. My only dispute that really holds water is WP:SOLDIER and his rank otherwise he does lack coverage. Hell in a Bucket (talk) 16:52, 18 August 2015 (UTC)
Agree 100% about the coverage. Was thinking a long the lines of the other points you mentioned. LovinTheSunshine (talk) 20:54, 19 August 2015 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Andrew McMaster (songwriter)

I'd like to direct you to WP:NACD where it says: "Participants, including participating administrators, should not reopen non-admin closures." The correct proceedings in cae you disagree with a closure are: First: Ask the closer to revert himself, discussing reasons for closure;re-opening. Second: Ask at WP:AN for an adnministrator to re-open the AfD, citing a reason. Third: Take it to WP:DRV. AfDs need not stay open for another 7 days after they were relisted, they may be closed at any time, if the result is clear, as was in this case. Kraxler (talk) 19:28, 4 September 2015 (UTC)

I've also read WP:IAR and would revert it anyways that's why it helps to have qualified people close these, the person relisting was an admin who is qualified to make those calls. I am aware non admins can close but in this case I reverted you because you are off base in your assessment. Hell in a Bucket (talk) 20:07, 4 September 2015 (UTC)
I'll answer this one after the AfD is eventually closed, again. Kraxler (talk) 22:10, 4 September 2015 (UTC)

Thanks!! Please let me know what I need to do to get this approved. Thank you!!

Head's up

HIAB:

WP:BLANKING states in pertinent part:

"A number of important matters may not be removed by the user—they are part of the wider community's processes: Declined unblock requests regarding a currently active block . . . ." (emphasis mine)

WP:BLANKING says nothing whatsoever about removing block notices, only declined unblock requests. I thought you might want to re-read e operative language, because it does not appear to say what you thought it did. Regards, Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 13:03, 17 September 2015 (UTC)

Thanks for pointing that out, at one point I am sure it included block notices and discussions but you and Alakzi are correct at this time it is not.Hell in a Bucket (talk) 13:04, 17 September 2015 (UTC)

mentoring Arteyu

I would be happy to mentor editor Arteyu regarding a "Faizal Ismail" article, but it would help if someone could at least userfy the article for Arteyu. I have asked the closer RoySmith to do so, but if you're an admin, would you be so kind? I do think that given the large number of substantial articles that I found, a reasonable article can be written that demonstrates notability. --Bejnar (talk) 17:17, 20 September 2015 (UTC)

Hello, Hell in a bucket, thanks for reviewing my article on Cinny Kennard. The sources I have cited in my Cinny Kennard post are reliable sources, independent of the subject. It's disappointing to write a well-researched post about a notable journalist and see the bios of many other journalists published on wikipedia with few, if any, independent references. Annie Baxter, a former reporter at Minnesota Public Radio, now with American Public Media's Marketplace, has a very short bio with no references. NPR's Lourdes Garcia-Navarro's wiki bio also is also poorly cited as is Nancy Updike's. Most of the bios on the list of "American women journalists" are also lengthy with few credible, independent references. Please advise. Thank you.

Draft:Fashion Nova

Thank you for agreeing that Fashion Nova is clearly notable. The problem is this other amateur user keeps disrupting and ruining the draft with her unhelpful contributions and keeps putting them back after I remove them to improve the draft. What do you think needs tweaking, in your opinion? Trillfendi (talk) 03:04, 18 December 2018 (UTC)

We are all amateurs, a key part of this project is working with other editors who sometimes mercilessly change what may be our preferred vision. I'd suggest moving this to your sandbox, from there you can work on the article in peace and no one will bother you or revert your changes. Here are a few of the things that need to go.
  • Fashion Nova also offers plus size & curve, maternity, and a men’s line. In 2018, the brand launched its first seasonal Halloween costume line.
  • In 2017, Fashion Nova became one of the most searched fashion brands, alongside Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Supreme and Chanel. (don't try and establish notability based on other brands ;let the sourcing talk for itself.
  • Fashion Nova released its first collaboration line with singer Cassie Ventura in 2018. They followed that line up with the release of Amber Rose line in the summer. In November of 2018, Fashion Nova released its line with rapper Cardi B,[7] which sold out within minutes. (This is peacock stuff.)
  • The entire marketing section should be reworked, when I read the article it's one of two things written by an employee (allowed but discouraged) or a person that is a fan of the brand. Try and remember we need to present facts and why they are notable, sometimes in the writing I get lost in the celebrity stuff. There are others but this should give you a good start. Jeff Oster Rejection

Sir,

I would greatly appreciate your help in getting the article into publishable order.

I'm really at a loss on what is lacking or a problem in the article. I've provided substantial sources, all which are relevant in the genre. I've also thought I've removed any type of material that seems promotional.

I'd very much like to document artists in this genre. It is an important genre to music inasmuch as it comes at the junction of past classical music and present contemporary classical music.

If you can provide specific references as examples for improvement, I'll work with you to make the improvements and attempt to carry those forward on future work.

Thank you in advance!

p.s. I asked for a username change. I'm not a musicologist by training (I am actually a research scientist in emerging technologies), so I've asked for a very neutral name (Meta in MA).

MAMusicologist (talk) 02:00, 6 January 2019 (UTC)

It wasn't the username that made me decline the article, or leave you a little but on COI editing. I honestly don't know if you have a COI in this area or not but when I reviewed the history, saw an AFD on the article it seems like there may be one in play. I like sources like [[2]] it talks about his notability but the problem that I find with it is that it is promotional to sell an album. The artist has to meet WP:GNG as applies to Wikipedia:Notability (music). I think that the artist is probably notable but is everything that is written in that article really needed? This [[3]] is notable. See the difference in sources? Now as to a possible COI that I note more then myself have expressed concerns with. When I reviewed your contributions I saw [[4]] 3 months of non stop writing about one artist Jeff Oster. Usually this is because the person is writing about themselves or they are a close relative or fan. This is very important though, if you are the subject or connected to them, or paid by them I urge you to declare it.Undisclosed COI or dishonestly disclosed identities can have bad effects on your reputation, editors here will respect you more if you are upfront and will afford you less suspicion then otherwise. I myself am happy to help if we can operate within WP:NPOV with your writing. You've done a good job so far because you've talked to a few people but maybe they haven't explained some of what they seen the way I did. Hopefully it helps in the article clean up. I will be less active again after these next couple weeks so may be a slight delay in my responses. Hell in a Bucket (talk) 04:16, 6 January 2019 (UTC)

To be clear: I am not a relative of Oster. I am likewise not being paid (trust me: no one could afford me, if I charged what I get paid on my real job). I will admit to being a fan of the GENRE. It was my hope by getting Oster's correct, I could continue to document the genre (for which there are very few entries on Wikipedia). If being a fan of the genre is disqualifier, please let me know and I'll cease work. I would expect being a fan of the genre would give me insights... not bias.

If being a fan of the genre is not a disqualifier, I'd deeply appreciate your help so I can get to work on other artists in the genre.

Thanks for your consideration and I'll look to see if you think being a fan of the genre is a COI. Meta in MA (talk) 00:35, 7 January 2019 (UTC)

Fan of the genre is fine, Hell in a Bucket is a Grateful Dead song and I started the Dead and Company article. Swing by when you need. Hell in a Bucket (talk) 01:05, 7 January 2019 (UTC)

As you can tell, I'm not much of a Deadhead (although I do like John Mayer and one of my friends went to high school with him). Thanks so much for your support. I made an attempt at further "de-promotizing it." Please have a look at your convenience. Meta in MA (talk) 01:57, 7 January 2019 (UTC)

Jeff Oster Approval

Sir,

This is formerly MAMusicologist. Greetings!

I was checking to see if you might have time to review my changes to the Oster article and see if I'm moving in the direction of getting it approved.

As I mentioned, there are other artists in the genre I'd like to get to once I have a model that has been approved.

Thanks again for your interested and consideration! --Meta in MA (talk) 19:44, 13 January 2019 (UTC)

It might be faster to resubmit the article via AFC, atm I am not able to actively edit due to real life deadlines. Hell in a Bucket (talk) 16:26, 14 January 2019 (UTC)

Okay. Thanks for the heads up. Good luck with your deadlines.

Meta in MA (talk) 03:44, 15 January 2019 (UTC)

Thanks taking an accelerated class and have one week left before the full semester starts. Hoping to complete degrees 2 and 3 this summer :) Hell in a Bucket (talk) 03:49, 15 January 2019 (UTC)

Request on 00:26:52, 16 January 2019 for assistance on AfC submission by Drnlorenzo

Hello and thank you for reviewing my article on Pearls Review. I am the Founder of this company which I built (along with others cited in the article) and which was acquired by Gannett Communications in 2008. Gannett is one of the largest media companies in the world (their best known product is USA Today) and they are very careful and diligent in the companies they evaluate and acquire. I re-read what I posted and still believe that I told the story from a neutral point of view (not an advertisement). The references I provided outlined the background of the founders as well as documenting the acquisition by Gannett. Pearls Review has since been acquired by OnCourse Learning (a large healthcare education and content company) in 2015 and a few months ago was sold to Relias, a division of Bertelsmann, another large international media company. The references provided document these acquisitions. Thus the documentation provided (and references) confirmed what was said in the article. Please re-examine the references which are official reports of the events I outlined in the article which were not created by me or Pearls Review. Thank you. ----

Drnlorenzo (talk) 00:26, 16 January 2019 (UTC)

Hello Drnlorenzo, I'd suggest resubmitting to AFC. Unfortunately due to real life deadlines I am not able to actively edit at this time. Hell in a Bucket (talk) 00:28, 16 January 2019 (UTC)

Request on 12:01:41, 4 March 2019 for assistance on AfC submission by Anni Tyga

Hi could you please give me guidance in bettering this article?

Anni Tyga (talk) 12:01, 4 March 2019 (UTC)

The resources that are presented are not what we would consider reliable to show how she passes the WP:GNG. The first two for example show she has lyrics for a song but that doesn't give notability. Read the sourcing guidelines and try and change the overall sourcing the notability required for musicians will be of special interest to you. Hell in a Bucket (talk) 19:09, 4 March 2019 (UTC)

Request for assistance on Sinai Akiba Academy submission by egw1119

Hello, thanks for your comments and I really appreciate the help. The Notable Programs are rather notable for their community and are well known in Los Angeles. (I'm not a part of their community.) You are absolutely right though that I need all the formatting help I can get. Is there any way for you to help me clean things up? Thanks! Egw1119 (talk) 17:05, 8 March 2019 (UTC)

AN

Hey there, a voice out of the past, it's good to see you're editing again. Although I appreciated the kind words, your first instincts were right: stay away from the drama boards, it's not worth it. Take care and here's hoping you stay for a while. Regards.--Bbb23 (talk) 15:07, 10 April 2019 (UTC)

I like popping in and doing the spare bit of non crazy editing. I needed the break and disconnect because it allowed me to cool down on the various drama's and others came and went and it is a different landscape. I'm hoping that I will be able to stay in the slow black muddy waters of AFC and the random Colorado history article. Cheers. Hell in a Bucket (talk) 20:06, 10 April 2019 (UTC)

Thanks so much for your caring and help! Meta in MA (talk) 22:05, 18 April 2019 (UTC)

Noinclude

If you apply a speedy tag to a page which is transcluded you must bracket the tag with <noinclude></noinclude> . Your failure to do so in the case of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Carmen Maldonado González caused numerous innocent pages to appear in CAT:CSD. Or better, you should have first removed the entry in Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Log/2019 May 13. Then it would have been OK to apply a naked speedy tag. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 15:50, 13 May 2019 (UTC)

Thanks that is an area I am not totally familiar with, my apologies. Hell in a Bucket (talk) 15:54, 13 May 2019 (UTC)

Vexation

Boom! I left the usual warnings and a personal note, shut down, and while I was brushing my teeth for the evening Eng.M.Bandara dropped that bomb on my talkpage. I expected a response, but not that response. Thanks for dealing with it, and I see Black Kite did the necessary with the redactions - I had meetings to go to this morning and couldn't linger for clean-up. I've seen the UTRS appeals, and they went as one would expect. Acroterion (talk) 16:21, 15 May 2019 (UTC)

It's sad to think people still think it's ok to talk like that, I'm still hoping the WMF ends up doing a full site ban we shall see. Hell in a Bucket (talk) 16:24, 15 May 2019 (UTC)
The response to GW was a clue, and I was trying to head off more trouble with MelanieN, known to be a female person in a position of authority. At least toxic misogyny is a change from the Nazis I've been dealing with. Acroterion (talk) 16:28, 15 May 2019 (UTC)
I see he has submitted his fourth UTRS ticket now. Not being an admin, I'm morbidly curious as to what possible defense he is putting forth. WaltCip (talk) 10:57, 16 May 2019 (UTC)
Without revealing too much, he's trying to bargain his way back in. Its not going well. Acroterion (talk) 11:52, 16 May 2019 (UTC)
I suspect it wouldn't be, not sure there is any real justification for the things they have been posting but at this point onwiki I'll just WP:DENY, it was made to cause a stir and that is what we will deny them here. Hell in a Bucket (talk) 12:21, 16 May 2019 (UTC)

Hello, kindly check and see Draft:Mr Puaz if now it does follow the WP guidelines . Thanks Machakusi (talk) 07:54, 26 June 2019 (UTC)

User:El_C, the shows were awesome. I saw a two song first set on Friday night....they had to do a edlay because of rain, hail and lightening. Rode out the hail storm in the stadium couldn't get to shelter...wasn't too crazy....was so fitting though because they had to stop playing during Cold, Rain and Snow...and then they picked it up with....COLD RAIN AND SNOW...they then proceeded to play the rest of the night...Last night rocked so hard...Scarlett, Speedway, Ripple, Althea there wasn't a bad song...I'm on my post show downturn though, I always feel so bummed after a show because I have to wait for the next one. Sadly my namesake song didn't make an appearance either but that was ok. Hell in a Bucket (talk) 16:10, 7 July 2019 (UTC)
I'd shine my light through cool Colorado rain. Sounds amazing! I remember we were at an outdoor show in Buckeye, when an intense thunderstorm rolled through and started raging at the beginning of the show. Twenty minutes later, just as the storm began to dissipate, they started playing Here Comes Sunshine — it was truly a magical moment. The sun literally started peering through the vanishing storm clouds as the first notes of the song started playing, and there was an audible gasp from nearly a 100,000 people upon hearing that. My words don't do it justice. Truly primordial! El_C 22:58, 7 July 2019 (UTC)

Hello

The articles I post to John Alite wikipedia are realistic and those that are current are not real posted by a person named Kasparoza. Please help to publish these real articles. Alite John (talk) 18:56, 23 July 2019 (UTC)

I appreciate the message, I'd suggest discussing it on the article talkpage with reliable sources that can go along with your narrative. Based on the history though it appears you have used multiple accounts to accomplish this and thus I myself can not help you. Hell in a Bucket (talk) 19:11, 23 July 2019 (UTC)
On second thought this article sorely needs attention and while I'm not looking to go for realistic, I am going for what I can reliably source. I intend to remove any unsourced info that I can not verify. Hell in a Bucket (talk) 22:28, 23 July 2019 (UTC)

Hello Hell in a Bucket! nice name. Thanks for reviewing my article Werner Reinartz. I have been waiting for like 12 weeks.... I understand your comment but can you maybe help in this matter? The fact is you say there are minor things but as long as you do not indicate them then how can I work on them? I really cannot treat an issue that is just an impression that you get. So, would you be able to help and make it better? I am really ok with edits you make so that you feel it is more of a wikipedia article.

dAF (talk) 21:18, 17 August 2019 (UTC)

Hello, thank you I rather like my username but it may surprise you of how I got it [[5]], might alter the perception just a little ;) As to the article, the sourcing is weak, sourcing like [[6]] leads a picture that we are sourcing this more as a CV then an article. You give works and publications but there is no indication those are actually notable works. The dissertation is mentioned but is it notable? Saying he has a number of x posts, be specific. Source it to reliable 3rd party sourcing. Hell in a Bucket (talk) 22:19, 17 August 2019 (UTC)

I think this is the first time I've ever got a barnstar for a CSD nomination from an article creator. I'm not sure if you are sincere or not but please understand it wasn't personal. You may want to move it back to the sandbox and work on third party sourcing. Hell in a Bucket (talk) 01:12, 18 August 2019 (UTC)

Re: canvassing

About this: it makes me think that the page WP:Canvassing is poorly titled, in that it describes a series of behaviors ("inappropriate notifications") but maybe only some of those behaviors actually deserve the name "canvassing"; or perhaps that the lead does not reflect its contents sufficiently clearly. At least, I think Buffs and I are probably not alone in feeling that when one person accuses another of canvassing, what they really mean is "campaigning" or "votestacking" (because if they meant "spamming", they would just say "spamming"). Anyhow, I hope my drive-by comment didn't derail more substantive conversation, or engender any ill-will. All the best, JBL (talk) 01:24, 7 September 2019 (UTC)

Not at all my friend, you had a differing opinion and I'm ok with that. I really do think my assessment is subjective but that's where the asking for opinion came in! Hell in a Bucket (talk) 01:30, 7 September 2019 (UTC)

2019 US Banknote Contest

  US Banknote Contest
November-December 2019

There are an estimated 30,000 different varieties of United States banknotes, yet only a fraction of these are represented on Wikimedia Commons in the form of 2D scans. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons.

In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate.

If you do not want to receive invitations to future US Banknote Contests, follow the instructions here

John Alite

Hi. I know you're active in the space with Franzese and John Alite, etc. but take a look at this recent interview with him—I found this particular part pretty comical: at 1:14:36. Let me know what you think. Without a doubt, this page will have to be protected again come July. Regards, Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 04:30, 6 February 2020 (UTC)

User:Vaselineeeeeeee....Wow. That is some pure crazy shit, they are literally making it a battleground.. Freaking insane and yeah apparently protection will continue. One of those times you want to think real hard before hitting that rollback button lol. I wrote the Frank Camper page and got contacted by him, He sent me notes from his Senate appearance and exchanged a few emails. I'm fairly sure Franzese Jr edited his page at one point too. Bit different when it's mobsters having it out on the web. Shit I'll say it now I have no affiliation with any of em lol. Hell in a Bucket (talk) 05:23, 6 February 2020 (UTC)
Yeah, I mean, I'm pretty interested in the mob stuff, watched most of the interviews of these mob guys who've left the life, and have had some extra time recently so cleaned up a bunch of mob articles in the last couple of months. In Franzese's interviews he comes across as very intellectual and calm, but when I saw Alite's interview, this guy is clearly still very pissed off with Gotti Jr. Yeah... I had no idea about the story between them... battleground alright between who's a "rat" and who's not etc. Looking back at the edits we reverted last year, without a doubt, looking back at it now, that's gotta be Alite even using his actual name. Kinda spooky but from watching the interview I can understand why he's pissed and I tend to believe him—but as you know, we need sources, and if he claims to have sources, he's more than welcome to add them, but what he allegedly wrote was full of typos and nothing was sourced. Anyway, over the next day or so, I'm gonna make an effort to add further sourced material. Gotti Jr's page doesn't state him being an informant outright, but we have to go by sources and there aren't any immediate sources that I can find that classify him as a cooperating informant—as Alite said in the interview, we really don't know what happened behind closed doors with the FBI. Regards, Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 05:43, 6 February 2020 (UTC)
User:Vaselineeeeeeee, So this just hit me, [[8]], nothing to see here. Hell in a Bucket (talk) 22:23, 8 February 2020 (UTC)
Yeah, back in July when you requested it, it was granted for one year - if and when vandalism restarts, we should request indef protection permanently. Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 22:29, 8 February 2020 (UTC)

day-of-year articles

Per WP:DOYCITE and WP:DOYSTYLE, all new entries to day-of-year articles require an inline citation. A small group of editors are doing the tedious work of going through every day-of-year article and adding sources to each entry from the main articles. (Take a look at January 1!) While that clean up is going on, preventing new entries without a source helps to keep the endeavor achievable. As more and more of the entries become sourced, new editors will hopefully see that and imitate it. The editor who added the entry to March 22 has been told this many times. Talk:Carina Rampelt

Thanks for your help on my draft! While I do think Isabella Fenwick is notable (at least as a historical figure, she's written about extensively in scholarly sources), I see your point about her notability being dependent on Wordsworth. Do you think it would be more appropriate to add details about their friendship to his page? --Carinarampelt (talk) 19:32, 17 April 2020 (UTC)

Talk:Stefan Molyneux

How is an accusarion of lying you lied "legit content"? It is a clear violation of WP:TPG and WP:CIVIL, not to mention WP:AGF. Why did you restore it? Newimpartial (talk) 19:09, 17 April 2020 (UTC)

Please explain where WP:CIVIL says to remove something that isn't an egregious attack, not seeing it at WP:REMOVEUNCIVIL? Take it to ANI but don't remove the comment. Hell in a Bucket (talk) 19:10, 17 April 2020 (UTC)
The WP:TPG says that it is "controversial" to remove talk page comments for incivility alone, not that it is against policy. And the statement "you lied" is exactly what I would call an "egregious attack", especially since it is untrue and part of an edit that violates at least three of the TPGs. And you know as well as I do how pointless it would be to take an IP editor to ANI. So thanks for making my editing day more unpleasant than it had to be: I didn't see you reverting the IP when they deleted my last connebt on the same page for no policy-compliant reason. My revert was in response to an egregious, false claim, and I still think your re-inscribing their comment was a mistake under the circumstances. This is quite independent of what you think about the substantive issues of the discussion, which are irrelevant in this context: this is a pure conduct issue, which are notoriously hard to deal with, with IPs. Newimpartial (talk) 19:35, 17 April 2020 (UTC)
True but is it egregious, or just annoying? Hell in a Bucket (talk) 19:36, 17 April 2020 (UTC)
Saying that someone lied is always a violation of WP:AGF, all the more so when they did not. So in my mind that is in the category of egregious comments that should always be removed, because there is no scenario in which such a comment can be constructive. Newimpartial (talk) 19:42, 17 April 2020 (UTC)
That does not give us leave to remove everything they wrote especially if it isn't egregious or substantial. Now if the comment read you are a no good lying malfeasant editor and it's clear you are following an agenda blah blah blah ...remove away. Hell in a Bucket (talk) 19:44, 17 April 2020 (UTC)
Clearly we aren't going to agree about this, but in my view comments that make their "argument" entirely by casting aspersions and misstating what other editors have written are not "legit", and when they step over the line of CIVIL they ought to be removed rather than humoured. Sigh. Newimpartial (talk) 19:57, 17 April 2020 (UTC)
Feel free to ask an admin, I'm not offended and they can reverse me and you have no issues with 3rr. We are both editors and my words are only how I interp the policy. Hell in a Bucket (talk) 19:58, 17 April 2020 (UTC)
