Question about Shiva sculpture? edit

Do you have any further information about the image you uploaded, such as date, material, area/tradition it comes from, identity of the other human figure shown etc? Thanks. Abecedare (talk) 03:32, 19 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

Unfortunately no Idea. Because this is an exhibit in GOA Museum (A restricted area where photography is not allowded). I taken this photo on my mobile phone. There is a small description but now I cannot remember. If I go to GOA Museum next time I definitely note that description. --Ranjithsiji (talk) 15:45, 7 July 2015 (UTC)Reply
Thanks Ranjitsinghji for the reply. Hope you are able to make another trip to museum at some point, because (besides the benefit to wikipedia) I am personally curious in particular about the other human figure shown in the sculpture, which I guess has an associated legend. Just so you know edit

Hi there! I just wanted to let you know that I have moved Amazonum Kure Vyakulathakalum to Draft:Amazonum Kure Vyakulathakalum as it does not contain any references at this time. This allows you (and other editors should they choose) more time to work with improving the article as it could have been tagged for deletion without references. Thank you for the work you have done so far & please feel free to submit to AfC or move it back to the article namespace once reliable and independent references have been added and other improvements made. --TheSandDoctor (talk) 17:14, 16 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

The article contained the draft template so I moved it back to the draft namespace. If the template was added in error, please remove it and wait for the redirect in the article namespace to be deleted (when this text turns red) and feel free to move it back. --TheSandDoctor (talk) 19:16, 16 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Amalendu Dasgupta edit

Hello Ranjithsiji,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Amalendu Dasgupta for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

I was really impressed to see your tool Wiki Stats for the UNESCO Challenge (which I'm helping organise). Please could you tell me if its possible for your tool to provide multilingual and multiproject results, ie to have what you have created for Malayalam Wikipedia but for all languages and all projects? This would be really helpful in reporting results back to UNESCO about what the competition achieved in an easy to understand visual way.

What level are you? edit

I found your name at Category:User js (probably because you posted the corresponding userbox on your user page), in the level-unspecified list of JavaScript programmers.

I was wondering how experienced you are at JavaScript, and whether you might be interested in getting involved with developing user scripts, hobnobbing with other JavaScript programmers, and organizing and improving JavaScript articles and support pages.

We do all of that and more at the JavaScript WikiProject.

Scripts undergoing development, and the state of JavaScript on Wikipedia, are discussed on the talk page.

For an overview of JavaScript coverage on Wikipedia, see Draft:Outline of JavaScript and Index of JavaScript-related articles. For everything on user scripts, see User:The Transhumanist/Outline of scripts.

The WikiProject also organizes every resource it can find about JavaScript out there, such as articles, books, tutorials, etc. See our growing Reference library. If you know of any good ones, please add them.

If you would like to join the JavaScript WikiProject, feel free to add your name to the participants list.

Hartals at Entry of women to Sabarimala Ayyappa Temple edit

I've removed your table because the article already has a section on protests/hartals with several paragraphs totaling about 500 words. I think we should either deal with this in prose (which allows more detail) or a table, not both. I also removed an entry because the source said " There is no mention about the BJP’s stir or Sabarimala in his statement." so that doesn't belong in the article at all. If you want to discuss this please use the article talk page. Thanks. Doug Weller talk 08:24, 3 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

There is no mention of Harthal in the article. In Kerala protest and harthal is different. Also which source said " There is no mention about the BJP’s stir or Sabarimala in his statement." Please read the complete article. See this The party (BJP) called for a harthal, this issue is verymuch connected with Sabarimala.I can give you more sources, see these news 1,2,3,4,5 and you can realize that BJP called for that harthal. Also Harthals and Protests are different in Kerala And yes I am on the discussion of the article page. please respond. --Ranjithsiji (talk) 09:58, 3 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Looking for your possible help in translating the remaining article en:Kithaab to your language article ml:കിത്താബ്. Completing the article ml:കിത്താബ്. translation and updation on Malayalam Wikipedia will be helpful in accuracy of translations in other language wikipedias & other language wikipedias can be encouraged to translate before 8March women's day.

Sorry I do not know Malayalam other Indian languages properly. Translated article in Hindi with help of google translator seems reasonable. Translation and correction support most welcome.

Thanking you , with warm regards

Manthrikappoocha moved to draftspace edit

An article you recently created, Manthrikappoocha, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. There's a big blue Submit button you can use if you think it's ready for consideration. Cabayi (talk) 20:50, 11 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
Cabayi I afraid I will never use that thing. Because I am starting only very relevant articles in this wiki and I am filling references (some what very important) to every sentances in the article. I never thought that somebody would consider the information. So why I would care. My first expectation of creating a new article is that It will be deleted from English Wikipedia. So I Don't care now a days. --Ranjithsiji (talk) 20:56, 11 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
I don't understand your problem. Malayalam wiki also has verifiability requirements - ml:വിക്കിപീഡിയ:പരിശോധനായോഗ്യത - which you're supposed to uphold. Cabayi (talk) 22:23, 11 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
Cabayi The problem is not verifiability. It is absolutely not adding Unreferenced tag on the article. But the problem is moving a relevant article like this into Draft space within 24 hours and pushing it to a long pending review pipeline. At least a 'trusted user/relevant article' must be excluded from this procedure. I am not trying to create a marketing doucment for Bhasa (Who lived in 3rd century CE). If you move this to draft I will definitely leave the article. I had done that before this. Now a days it is incredibly difficult to add credible information into English Wiki. So just be there. No hard feelings. Others will come and do the following. BOOM. --Ranjithsiji (talk) 05:53, 12 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • "a 'trusted user/relevant article' must be excluded from this procedure" - this already happens - Wikipedia:Autopatrolled
  • "moving a relevant article like this into Draft space within 24 hours" - how many times do you think we should review new aricles? Where would we find the extra manpower to do this extra work? The pressures on a wiki with 6.2 million articles and 40 million editors are less forgiving than those on a wiki with 71 thousand articles and 145 thousand editors. We have a hard enough time looking at all the new material without doubling the workload with a requirement to come back and check again 24 hours later.
  • "it is incredibly difficult to add credible information into English Wiki" - hmmm, your article had no sources so forgive me if I don't rush to agree it was credible. You could have started in your userspace and had virtually unlimited time to work on it before moving it to mainspace. You could have started in draftspace and collaborated with other editors there with unlimited working time before moving it to mainspace.
Repeatedly creating unsourced articles in mainspace (1,2) is deliberately courting difficulties - more so given that you are aware of the process. To me, the issue was entirely a question of the article's verifiability, which it totally lacked.
It's regrettable that you've now made it a point of principle to NOT press the Submit button - after all it's not about the effort involved, as this discussion shows. I don't know what you intend to show by your stand against submitting the draft for review, but I won't interfere with your protest, I won't submit it either (nor is it my place to decide if you think you're ready for the draft to be reviewed). Happy editing, Cabayi (talk) 10:22, 12 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
Cabayi - My decision of NOT press the Submit button came from so many bad experiences like deletion of an article without intimation or discussion, deletion of facts without discussion, Long pending review line for article, Non removal of tags after proper action etc.
  • I forgot that I don't have autopatrol rights. So I am not a trusted user in English wiki. That is understandable and now I found that why the articles created by me is keep on dumping into draft. That is why I am not creating more articles here. OK Let it be there.
  • I think that if a person reviews and put a tag then that is enough. NPP works a fantastic way to do that also(I had enough NPP experience, I am usually doing that thing with Twinkle. But the team not benefit from my work because I don't have the right. It is just another experiment to test how NPP works and also to study how to resolve the orphan problem. And also for fun.). If the article is controversial or advertisement then there is good point in moving it to draft. In that way the draft load can also be reduced.
  • Writing an article and adding references simultaneously is a very difficult task. I think the process is write article -> add references -> Edit the loose facts -> Expand it. Now you will tell me after all this go publish. My understanding this is not the way a wiki works. It is an everybody can edit space, even without a username. If something is not right or goes wrong the experienced people can handle it. There are a lot of tools and ways to do that. It is understandable if a user is a newbie then put the person into draft. But a person like me (I already have enough wiki experience, in user level-My first edit is on 2005, in technical level-I created tools for wmflabs, in mediawiki level-I am a maintainer of 5 other wikis which uses mediawiki) pushing into draft feels like very high insult. That is why I am not editing or creating new articles here.
  • My thought is that in future AI and ML will handle this process. So It will translate all the articles available in all the wikis to other languages better than humans do. Abstract wikipedia and Wikidata Lexemes are a good start in this direction. So concentrate on my home wiki (Headache is verymuch less there). Write more article there and Machine will do the rest.
  • So somebody will come and Press the Blue Button OR I am waiting to get things sorted out OR you can simply delete it. And I will try to do lesser edits here. And create a new article if it extremely required.
  • Another Idea is I will create a new one on my personal user space as a personal draft. So that any other person cannot touch. It is like the development hell in Hollywood. I can take years to complete a single article.
  • (1,2) Are two different experiments to test how admins here behaves to other editors. In (Here) I added enough references to sentence and It hadn't pushed to draft space. But (Here) I hadn't got enough stable references (excluding blogs, posts, news etc) to expand the article.
  • If the admins trust me then they must give me more than 24 hours to add enough references into an article (I am doing other works to live). If they are not trusting me (Current status) it is very much OK for me to be pushed into draft, unreferenced, delete and I don't care.

And thank you for your initiative to talk to me. And thanks for you good words. Previous Admins I talked here was so arrogant and tough for good discussions. Happy wiki time. --Ranjithsiji (talk) 12:05, 12 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

From your comments, "pushing into draft feels like very high insult" and "If the admins trust me then they must give me more than 24 hours" it's clear you take the admin actions as a judgement on you. They're not. They're an assessment of the text you've contributed.
Autopatrolled is not given to editors to allow them to ignore the required standards, but as a recognition that they always adhere to the requirements. Your experiments are unfortunately creating a history which would make it less likely that you would be given autopatrolled on enwiki.
As for your hopes for AI, ML & machine translation - it's been frequently discussed but the community's view has consistently been that machine translations into English are too poor quality to be permitted. Regards, Cabayi (talk) 18:27, 12 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
Cabayi - For sure they are judgements of ignorance of the subject. I am very much sure the judged admin had no idea about the topic. Multiple times I got that right. Admins must judge with the knowledge and sense. And talking is your best friend and that most people not doing because they don't have time.
I don't need a recognition for anything I am doing or written for. Because "Imagine a world in which every single person on the planet is given free access to the sum of all human knowledge. That's what I am doing." and that is my commitment and I was in the list already. So getting into the list automatically is higher than getting it. And I already had lot of these *s in my language wiki. You cannot catch me from my history I am sure about that. I have enough knowledge about how a wiki works, what is inside it, how to trace, how to anaylise etc.
for AI, ML & machine translation - Those are not hopes those things are going to happen in future. Wikidata is not 10year old but It is making a lot (Biggest edited project is WM). And Abstract Wikipedia is the biggest thing coming. And no discussion needed because the foundation already announced the project.

So that is all. If admins care that is good for project. If admins rogue the project sinks. For En wiki, it is the biggest wiki with articles. And a lot of complaints about the bad admin behaviour. Hope admins will act with more sense. Regards, --Ranjithsiji (talk) 20:32, 12 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

  • Ranjithsiji and Cabayi I eventually came here through Draft:Pratijnayaugandharayana. As the article is about one of the most important plays in the history of Sanskrit literature, I am going to add some information whith references. And then I will move it to main space. Ranjithsiji: Keep contributing to Wikipedia, and if you need any help with literature related article, feel free to ask me on my talk page. --Gazal world (talk) 13:55, 3 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
Gazal world Thanks for your interest. The sad part is that, such an important article is just moved to draft space. And people arguing me to develop it there and wait for review. Now I got the reason, I am not a trusted user here. I started editing Wikipedia on 2005. In my old account I had 2000 edits here before 2010. On those times I created articles, edited articles and nobody is asking questions like this. This account was created on 2010 after the username unification happened and I lost my old accounts. I had big plans to write/develop articles about Geography of Kerala, Important literature of India which don't have enough information in this wiki. But what holding back is this behaviour. Now I realize that I am not a trusted user, no auto-patrol rights. I am a bureaucrat in my home wiki but things are not working here. So trying to apply for autopatrol rights here. If it works then will try to do something here. Otherwise I will concentrate on my home wiki and Wikidata. There is a lot of job to do. Happy editing. Thanks for stopping by. Regards - --Ranjithsiji (talk) 14:10, 3 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Ranjithsiji: Don't be discouraged. English Wikipedia is a more globalised community and rules are followed more stringently here due to its size and more likelihood of vandalism. The whole discussion was unwarranted. In English Wikipedia here, anything without reference or unaware/unknown things are more likely to be draftified because of the vanalism issues in managing such a large encyclopedia. Just simply adding few references would have made it easier to pass/patrolled. I know, It is annoying to feel untrustworthy but do understand that things are looked here with more suspicion than other Wikipedias.
You can create new articles with references and ping me to review it quickly after submitting the draft. So rules are followed and you get your work done faster. But, I would be able to review only literature/writers related articles. --Gazal world (talk) 15:50, 3 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • Hi Ranjith. Just to let you know that I have published the article Pratijnayaugandharayana. I will work on it and expand it further sometime later. While working on this article, I came to know about one of the important Indian writers, A. S. P. Ayyer. I have started writing a draft (Draft:A. S. P. Ayyar) on him. Thank you. --Gazal world (talk) 20:50, 6 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
