The portal went through a candidacy for featured portal with not much luck. The areas of the portal are becoming more active with the the voting and changing of the selected pictures and articles. The transport news seems has started to be updated again but with the most up-to-date news being in this newsletter. Did you know is being improved. The portal has had a new selected biography section added to bring it up to standard. Please vote at Portal:London Transport/Vote.
As usual all suggestions to improving the Metropolitan are welcome so if you have one we would be happy to hear from you.
Please also could people submit suggestions for DYKs or does anyone want to do the next issue?

Again i would like to state this newsletter is looking for anyone willing to do an issue. This is especially for August as i am going to be too busy. I may not be able to do September either. Please help.
I have also had to give less detail on some reports as the Article Alert Bot is currently down.
New guidelines have been proposed for railway accidents. Please see WP:RAILCRASH.
Major discussions arose over the notability of many London bus routes, which resulted in some routes being kept and some being deleted. Please leave your comments at WT:LT#London bus route articles and WT:BUS. This has essentially ground to a halt.
Another discussion as well as straw poll has been on whther the frequency of trains per hour should be added. It appeared there was no consensus.

I too assume it was an American; I just figure he or she was wrong for a different reason. While people knew who Blair was even before the Iraq War, most had never heard of poor Gordon until his press conference just before resigning. And then it was only because Jon Stewart made a bid deal out of it. On the other side, most Americans other than reporters are uncomfortable enough with calling a former president "President" that I just doubt that's it. -Rrius (talk) 16:46, 8 July 2010 (UTC)
Unlike most of my countrymen, I'm well aware of his phone-throwing tendencies. My friends all think I'm weird for following British politics, but I think it's their loss. I mean, the entire Brown premiership was exciting political theatre no matter whether you were a Brownite, Blairite, Tory, or even Lib Dem. According to WP:PRIMARYTOPIC, to be a primary topic, you have to be more than the most important; you have to be more important than all the other things COMBINED, often substantially more important. Is Cambridge, England more important than Cambridge, Mass., Cambridge U., Cambridge, Jamaica, and all the other Cambridges put together? Is Plymouth, England more important than Plymouth Colony, Plymouth, Mass, Plymouth, Montserrat, Plymouth, Indiana and Plymouth the car combined? Hi, cannot understand why you switched the navbox on this article as Barton is in the Yorkshire and Humber region and not in the East Midlands region. I think that Barton Line needs removing from the East Midlands navbox as it is incorrect. Keith D (talk) 12:41, 19 April 2011 (UTC)
Sorry, just looking at the North Lincolnshire article, I did not realise that this part of Lincolnshire is in the Y&H region, I thought it was in the East Mids like the rest of the county. Hi, re Lower Sydenham railway station; careful examination of a 1:25000 OS map shows that the Lewisham/Bromley boundary loops around the station to its south, so although pedestrians need to walk through some part of Bromley, the station itself is inside Lewisham. --Redrose64 (talk) 10:44, 21 June 2013 (UTC)

It's likely that the platforms cross the boundary, but AFAIK it's the station buildings, not the platforms, that count for our purposes. The boundary commissioners try not to put a boundary through a building, since it complicates matters when it comes to council tax, responsibility for public services, etc. Thus, if we could obtain a larger-scale map - say 1:10000 or better still 1:2500 - we'd probably find that the station buildings are entirely one side of the boundary; possibly even with the boundary following a building wall. --Redrose64 (talk) 12:09, 26 June 2013 (UTC)

Hello Likelife, I've just spotted a load of template additions[1] adding Template:TSGN and SE Stations. This template is quite large (absolutely huge). Adding in the region of 120kB+ to articles. Size apart, I fear the final effect may confuse readers. For example, if I expand the bar at Cricklewood railway station then I see a full list of ThamesLink Wimbledon Loop services, followed by bars for "Southern routes serving this station" and "Southeastern routes serving this station", neither of which can be expanded. Can we assume that readers will understand that this isn't a bug and that they can't be expanded because there actually aren't any Southern or Southeastern routes serving this station? Readers might reasonably object that if there aren't any such routes then we shouldn't have empty lists of them. NebY (talk) 15:24, 11 August 2013 (UTC)

Within the project, discussions included getting LT-related listed building articles ready for the Wiki Loves Monuments competition in September, selective vehicle detection, the S Stock appearing on the District Line and platform layouts.
Within other related projects, relevant discussions included blocking an IP, platform layouts, next and previous stations, fixing a station usage template, identifying a railway station, the deletion of Template:Rail start, station naming and the relevance of RDTs.

Crossrail station count

I was inspired to edit the counter after this edit which altered the count from 39 to 40, presumably to include Reading - but that ignores Twyford which is also included in the latest scheme. To make sure that others had not been overlooked, I counted the stations on Template:Crossrail RDT as follows:
9 between Reading and West Drayton
2 on the Heathrow branch
14 between Hayes & Harlington and Whitechapel
4 on the Abbey Wood branch
13 between Stratford and Shenfield

Hi, there are 12 stations between Hayes & Harlington and Whitechapel not 14. The DfT, CR and TfL all say 40 too. Where you counting Old Oak and Kensal?+Likelife (talk) 08:03, 28 March 2014 (UTC)
Yes, I did count those two: but surely they're all "proposed"? The difference between Old Oak Common/Kensal Town and e.g. Ealing Broadway/Acton Main Line is that at the latter places, the station is already open for non-Crossrail traffic. --Redrose64 (talk) 08:10, 28 March 2014 (UTC)
However, the proposed station at Kensal, like Silvertown, is only a proposal by Royal Kensington & Chelsea. Yes it is strongly supported but there is no allocated funding, open support or permission from NR, Boris, Osborne or the Transport Sec. At Old Oak, the article isn't clear if its planned or proposed, and normally more often than not, only planned stations are counted. Its still possible (though unlikely) that HS2 will be scrapped, though I'm sure the plans at Old Oak will happen regardless, it won't open until 7 years after Crossrail fully opens. We don't count Wixams as station on Thameslink or Lea Bridge on the Lea Valley, even though they're opening this/next year. Likelife (talk) 08:31, 28 March 2014 (UTC)
