Disambiguation link notification for January 1

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Har HaMenuchot, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Central Bus Station and Egged (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Chaim Koppelman

Dear Yoninah: Thanks to your excellent criticism, I believe I have substantially improved this article. Would you mind taking a look & telling me where to go from here? I have one question about citing different chapters by different authors in the same catalog (the Rome catalog) & did not include them under the same Cite error: The opening <ref> tag is malformed or has a bad name (see the help page). because different page numbers and authors are cited. Thanks in advance for your help.Trouver (talk) 18:49, 3 January 2013 (UTC) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Trouver/DRAFT

Thanks so much for your help on this. I've deleted "resources" (didn't seem necessary) and added citations (got one more from a book I'll get tonight) added links to several pages (his name is mentioned on a couple). I did not add the colon before the categories, that happened automatically when I added the categories. I will review this more carefully over the weekend. Thanks again for great direction.Trouver (talk) 19:16, 4 January 2013 (UTC)

One more thing, about the pictures. They are too small on the larger monitors, so maybe we can compromise by sizing them at 140 px. The Mattisse entry uses 140px for the gallery. Thanks very much for your consideration of this request.Trouver (talk) 19:36, 4 January 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for correctionts & request for citations. Went over everything carefully & removed any statement I could not completely support with citation. Thanks for findng Krantz book on American Artists--yes, that is it, but I need to get the page number & check for titles in the New York Times articles, which are different from the magazine Art News. I've got printouts of these articles in another location which I'll check tomorrow. They didn't always have titles but I'll get all the info I can. So this should be done in a couple of days. Should I move it to mainpage or would you do that? Last time my editor did it. Doesn't that help speed the pocess along, if you say you've reviewed it? Thanks again.Trouver (talk) 21:27, 6 January 2013 (UTC)

Just checking for newspaper titles & all required info for proper footnotes. Then I will move the page myself. I've only done one article before, so not that familiar with protocol. Could I ask someone on the Teahouse page to consider nominating it for DYK & for the good article? Thanks again for your great criticism & assistance.Trouver (talk) 17:01, 7 January 2013 (UTC)
Uh-oh. When I checked for info above I found another file of NYT articles from 1940-1970. I am not going to add excessively--maybe a few footnotes, a couple of words--but I do want to check over this file carefully before I move the page, which I will probably do by Wednesday. These are all art reviews, mostly NYT, which go in the "Critical Reception" section and I don't want it to be much longer than it is but also don't want to miss something important.Trouver (talk) 17:44, 7 January 2013 (UTC)

Real life demands kept me away until yesterday, and as I looked again I thought some things could be clearer & better. But now it's ready to go now. Actually, I would appreciate it if you could move it. Time for me to get out of the way & let this bird fly. What happens then? Should I ask 2 other WP editors on my talk page to glance over it? Anything else I should be doing? Thanks again for all your help & patience.Trouver (talk) 20:08, 21 January 2013 (UTC)

Your hook seems fine, except I'd either omit the word "whimsical" or add "whimsical and profound" because his work is really both, and "whimsical" alone can sound too superficial. Trouver (talk) 02:54, 22 January 2013 (UTC) So:
(Did you know) ... that American printmaker Chaim Koppelman's fascination with Napoleon led to such works as Napoleon Entering Brighton Beach (pictured)? or:
(Did you know) ... that American printmaker Chaim Koppelman's fascination with Napoleon led to such whimsical and profound works as Napoleon Entering Brighton Beach (pictured)?
Both are under 200 characters. Thanks again for everything.Trouver (talk) 03:03, 22 January 2013 (UTC)
Hogarth refer to William Hogarth, Munch refers to Edvard Munch and Peabody Museum refers to Peabody Essex Museum.
I like the new suggestions because it conveys the fact that there were many such works. Thanks!Trouver (talk) 21:22, 24 January 2013 (UTC)

so this is it: ...that American printmaker Chaim Koppelman produced many works about Napoleon throughout his career, placing Napoleon in surprising settings such as Napoleon Entering Brighton Beach (pictured)?

DYK: The picture was removed!--and wasn't that the whole point of the hook? Is there any way we can get it placed in Queue 2 with the picture? Thanks for everything.Trouver (talk) 04:00, 31 January 2013 (UTC)

DYK looks great. Thanks again for everything. Is it possible for this article to be nominated as a Featured Biography on the Arts portal?Trouver (talk) 16:17, 31 January 2013 (UTC)

Thanks, Yoninah, for your great assistance. I'm not good giving out those picture awards, but I must sincerely thank you for all your help & good direction. About the Arts Portal, I think we first have to get good article status, since the Arts Portal requires many more reviews. The DYK prompted more than 3200 hits & I think that's pretty good for an Art biography. Could not have done it without you.Trouver (talk) 15:04, 5 February 2013 (UTC)

Amram Aburbeh photos

Dear Yoninah

The author of the original Hebrew wikipedia entry Amram Aburbeh uploaded the photos and created the article, the author gave permission for free public use without any reserved rights

I read the photos history in Hebrew wikipedia

In addition I was able to contact the author directly through the internet and indeed twice got permission to have the photos in the English version. sincerely Carmel Avivi-Green — Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.195.119.49 (talk) 15:37, 6 January 2013 (UTC)

sources list inline

Hello editor I wanted to understand your suggestion. did you mean: Each source link should be numbered inline according to its place in the article and referred to a new numbered list at the end of the article ( originally the footnotes list included translation of terms in Hebrew)

what is the number of sources/links needed to prove the article is all true and well documented? did you put a limit? Rabbi Amram Aburbeh being Chief Rabbi of Petach Tikva and street name appear in several websites for example the Book Neivei Am is cited on several occasions regarding different topics, how many citations are needed? are two enough? Or Zaruaa synagogue is also mentioned in several places, over the years, for example in newspapers photos of his books and Sidur Rinat Israel exist and are found through the internet Sincerely Carmel Green — Preceding unsigned comment added by Carmel avivi-green (talkcontribs) 04:39, 16 January 2013 (UTC)

Yoninah, it seems this is at an impasse: you want the article to be more comprehensive, but the creators say they've done what they intend to and have no intention of working on it further, and that it meets DYK criteria. Do you believe that the article fails to meet the DYKSG#D7 criteria as it currently stands? I don't see any other DYK rule that might apply here.

One way or another, this nomination needs to be closed out soon; it's been sitting for over two weeks since the most recent exchange. Help with Pope Francis article quote

Yoninah, We haven't been in touch for awhile. Hope your holiday was great! I'm writing to ask if you would consider looking at the talk page for Pope Francis. I have been active with the article about Francis, especially in terms of his positive relations with other religious communities. If you look at the most talk page -- bottom section -- you will see there is an editor who is objecting to what I think is a beautiful quote about the pope and the Jewish community in Argentina for two reasons: first, because it mentions the Holocaust (indirect mention: it is from an editorial in the Jerusalem Post, and says that "Unlike John Paul II, who as a child had positive memories of the Jews of his native Poland but due to the Holocaust had no Jewish community to interact with in Poland as an adult, Pope Francis has maintained a sustained and very positive relationship with a living, breathing [Jewish] community in Buenos Aires."); and secondly, because we shouldn't have a quote from an Israeli paper for reasons that include the fact that Israel is (quoting Jimmy Carter) an "apartheid state." I personally like the quote, and think it is positive in terms of both John Paul II and Francis...but the discussion is worrisome.... NearTheZoo (talk) 11:56, 4 April 2013 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Aravah (Sukkot)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Aravah (Sukkot) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://etrog.info/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=51&Itemid=64. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. (tJosve05a (c) 12:51, 21 June 2013 (UTC)

I'm not that familiar with the process involved. Please respond on this page (not on my talkpage). Thanks. -- -- -- 04:15, 1 October 2013 (UTC)

  1. I commented on the ben Kalir page. Thanks for notifying me.
  2. I read your new page on Gershon Liebman and felt it sounded too much like an Ami article. It should be written much more impartially, so that even non-Jews can appreciate his contribution. Also, it does not even begin to express what an important contribution he made to post-war Torah education. Surely there are more sources available than Ami and Esther Leah Avner? I reread the article and besides adding more info. from other sources (which I might get back to if I'll have a chance), I'm not sure exactly what you mean. More specific examples of what needs to be changed might be helpful, or perhaps you can make those changes yourself. Thanks for your help. -- -- -- 02:54, 2 October 2013 (UTC)
You should try to use more encyclopedic language rather than descriptions found in an Orthodox Jewish magazine. And be impartial. You can read other biographies on Wikipedia to get a better feel for it. I'm sorry, I don't have time to fix this article, though it is a subject that should be written. A quick search on Google Books yields a plethora of other sources. Best, Yoninah (talk) 22:37, 5 October 2013 (UTC)

The Jewish Bolshevism and Jewish Bolshevism

Hi Yoninah: What is your considered opinion about the above topic as is now being discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Jewish Bolshevism (2nd nomination). Thank you, IZAK (talk) 19:52, 7 October 2013 (UTC)

RE: DYK nomination of Montana State University Library

Hi Yoninah: I got your message about making some changes to the Montana State University Library article. The DYK nomination process and responsibilities are new to me but I think I got all the citations plus I did some editing to try and write some of the "list" sections into a more prose style. Please let me know if you want more changes. And please let me know if I'm not communicating back in the right place. I'm guessing our talk pages are the correct place. Thanks for all your help and support, McMormor (talk) 17:35, 11 October 2013 (UTC)

Hi, although you told me to put these comments on the DYK template, I can't figure out how to edit it. Would please explain to me how to edit on the DYK template page for the article? I'm probably just missing something simple. Thanks again for you help. Here's my feedback from your last post.
I got the "services" heading layout idea from the Stanford University Library article. Actually, I'm not finding any general over-all or generic section heading layouts for academic/university libraries. I changed the section heading to "general information" and reworded the subsection lists, and then moved it below the "collections" section. I cited the fiscal year 2012 because budgetary expenses do change from year to year and this way, if the article is read in future years and the content hasn't been updated, it mentions the date (year 2012) the data was pulled and cites to the original source. Disambiguation link notification for October 13

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Irvin J. Borowsky, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page United Way (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Chabad Customs

Hi Yoninah, I've noticed your edit on Chabad placing customs after philosophy. Does it make sense to first put a section on "adherents" then customs and demographics? Not sure if I've seen a comparable article, or what might be used professionally... I.am.a.qwerty (talk) 14:32, 18 October 2013 (UTC)

Your credit question

Hi, Yoninah. Thank you for asking the DYK credit question at the Lajcher nomination page. I believe it can easily be fixed by adding the second article i.e. Treblinka to hidden template "{{DYK nompage links|nompage=Berek Lajcher|Berek Lajcher}}". Also, please tell me if it would be appropriate to add a request (in comments) sounding like this: – Please hold this entry until such time as the photo can be used. We have just missed (by 2 days) the 120 anniversary of Berek Lajcher's birth. Thank you. Poeticbent talk 13:42, 28 October 2013 (UTC)

My own example of possible reformatting of Berek Lajcher DYK nomination template right under the "Comment" section (similar to all double-DYKs):
<!-- * {{DYKmake|Berek Lajcher|Poeticbent|subpage=Berek Lajcher}} * {{DYKmake|Treblinka extermination camp|Poeticbent|subpage=Berek Lajcher}} -->

Shemini Atzeret/GA2

Hi, please see Talk:Shemini Atzeret/GA2 and add your expertise. Thanks, IZAK (talk) 10:30, 30 October 2013 (UTC)

Shemini Atzeret

Thank you Thank you for your offer to help. I can use it. I was having a very hard time dealing with this classical vs. academic sources problem.

Have a look also at simple:Shemini Atzeret, also my work. (Note that it is an article that tries to combine Shemini Atzeret and Simchat Torah.) Leaving aside that I wrote in bullets there, too, I don't think I have a bad start on content.StevenJ81 (talk) 19:28, 30 October 2013 (UTC)
