winningest/most successful/most victorious

Hey Tony. I welcome your input on the Steve Morrison article talk page, regarding the three above terms. Spacecowboy420 (talk) 10:44, 12 January 2016 (UTC)

Most successful is WP:POV and does not tell the reader whether you are talking about most wins, most championships, highest graduation rate, best recruiting classess or most of something else. You have to make it clear that you mean most wins.--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 22:19, 13 January 2016 (UTC)
Agreed, being clear is everything. That's why I put the word victorious instead of winningest - it relates to victories - ie. winning. Granted, it doesn't make a distinction between winning games or championships, but then again neither does winningest . Also the source that was being used to support the use of the term winningest actually uses the word victory , so that makes it all fit in quite nicely. Well, at least that's my opinion. If you wish to revert back to the original state of the article, I won't undo your revert, as it's not an article that is of any major concern to me. Kellen Dunham

Hey man. This GAN has gone on for way too long. It seems that the only thing preventing the article passing as a GA is some trivial link issues. If you could be so kind, would you simply fix the outstanding problems and pass? This is assuming there aren't any more important issues with Kellen Dunham's article. ~EDDY (talk/contribs)~ 19:46, 17 January 2016 (UTC)

Hello,

I don't have the knowledge enough to give you a proper peer review, although I looked at the article and I found it very well written. I was wondering though if you should change "from both sexes" to "of both sexes", in the regard to the Rolling Stones ranking. Also, in Swedish, you write 1-12 numbers with letters. I don't know if it's the same rule in English, but you have written 12 in the text.

Well that's about it. Have a nice week. // Psemmler (talk) 00:56, 21 January 2016 (UTC)

Copeland

Hi. You asked me about whether any of the changes are too much info. I think your this addition falls into this category. The fact that she was rehearsing something doesn't add anything significant, so I suggest reversing it. -- Ssilvers (talk) 23:15, 28 January 2016 (UTC)

  • Ssilvers, keep in mind this is The Nutcracker, which is about the most important work in ballet. But if you insist, we can remove it.--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 04:32, 29 January 2016 (UTC)
We mention The Nutcracker several times further down, in more appropriate contexts. We want to talk about significant things that Copeland did, not about things she *didn't* do at a particular time. The key information is that she suffered the lumbar fracture, as we say in the prev. sentence. I really think that this sentence is distracting and unhelpful to the reader who wants encyclopedic information about her. If they want every detail about her early career, the place to go is her full-length autobiography. -- Ssilvers (talk) 05:23, 29 January 2016 (UTC)
I was working on that paragraph today, and I found material that I think is far more important about Copeland's spinal fracture, her induced puberty and her subsequent body image problem and eating disorder. It is so important that the sentence about what she had been working on at the time of her injury faded completely into irrelevance, and so I decided to kill the sentence. I hope you'll agree when you read the paragraph. I put in some quotes from Copeland, because I think they are very powerful in helping the reader understand the struggles and challenges that she had at this time, and how close she must have come to leaving ballet. -- Ssilvers (talk) 23:41, 31 January 2016 (UTC)

Virginia Halas

Hey, TTT. This one looks like it's in your wheelhouse. I came across the Virginia Halas McCaskey article while I was converting the last few instances of Infobox NFL coach to Infobox NFL biography, and I noted a number of issues with the article, including the fact that it is largely unsourced. Given the importance of the Halas-McCaskey clan to the Chicago Bears, I thought you might want to direct some of your tender loving care in its direction. Cheers. Speedy deletion nomination of Karen Alexander (fashion model)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Karen Alexander (fashion model), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. DGG ( talk ) 05:56, 5 February 2016 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Cruise (film)

The article Cruise (film) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

The article lacks notability and reads like an advertisement.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Ballet

@TonyTheTiger and Ssilvers: Please let me know if you think you'll revisit the Misty Copeland article for FA. I'd be willing to help. Mkdwtalk 05:42, 9 March 2016 (UTC)

I don't know Tony's plans, but I would oppose Copeland's article at FA until it has, among other things, a good "Reputation" section that discusses the major critical assessments of her work. There is some of this scattered throughout the chronological section, but it is haphazard. In my opinion, there is also some trivia that should be eliminated from the article, and it needs a thorough copy-edit and a thorough source-check: on those occasions when I checked a source, I often felt that it had been misused. Mkdw, your question caused me to look at other FA and GA articles in the Ballet project, and I came across Hee Seo and was appalled. I cannot imagine how it was promoted to GA, as I noted on the talk page. For an idea of how to write a good reputation section in an arts-related article, see, for example, this and this. -- Ssilvers (talk) 06:19, 9 March 2016 (UTC)
