My bot, EditorBot, was for approval at Wikipedia:Bots/Requests for approval/EditorBot, but it failed. The Bot account is reserved, however, and whether or not it will ever be used remains a mystery.

Welcome to my user page. You really should be editing right now. So why are you wasting your time reading this sentence? I could just go on an on about myself, but why should I? Since you are still here right now, I will welcome you under this comfy blanket.

Apparently only 56 or soWikipedians have created more articles than me.

About MeEdit

I started editing under this account shortly after the New Year, 2008, after editing under an IP for a while. My username is derived from that of User:Destroyerofthewiki, a sockpuppet of User:DavidYork71. Instead of destroying the wiki, I want to edit it, and I would have chosen a better username, but all the good ones are taken. I think that I did quite well with what's left, don't you think?

I am an active member of Wikipedia:WikiProject Earthquakes. I don't really have much of a liking of these destructive ruptures, in case you're wondering. They are pretty fun to write about however. My time there has not been wasted: I basically wrote FA 2002 Bou'in-Zahra earthquake (with some copyediting help and some small additions, mostly from from User:LordSunday) and GA 1992 Nicaragua earthquake (also written from scratch--this was speedied while a stub!).

I will tell you nothing about my personal life, since I don't know who you are, except I am a male human from the Planet Earth who was born sometime in the 20th century.

I am a bit of a linguist, as demonstrated by my languageboxes below:

Tip of the DayEdit

Article size

What is an appropriate length for a Wikipedia article? This is discussed at Article length. An article can be as long as 10,000 words or more, if there are enough sources on the topic to provide for that much content. Undoubtedly there are articles that reach 20,000 words. The recommended maximum length is around 100kB of text. There is no standard for minimum length, an acceptable stub article could be as short as three or four sentences.

If you look at the menu on the left-hand side of any page on Wikipedia, there is a link to Page information. Clicking on that link shows lots of information about the page including it's total size as well as how often it has been viewed. There is also this tool - you just copy and paste the text into there, and it counts it for you.

Golden jackal at Upper Bhavani, India

The golden jackal (Canis aureus) is a wolf-like canid native to Southeast Europe, Southwest Asia, South Asia, and regions of Southeast Asia. Compared with the Arabian wolf, which is the smallest of the gray wolves (Canis lupus), the jackal is smaller and possesses shorter legs, a shorter tail, a more elongated torso, a less-prominent forehead, and a narrower and more pointed muzzle. The coat can vary from a pale creamy yellow in summer to a dark tawny beige in winter. The golden jackal has a widespread distribution and high density in areas with plenty of available food and optimum shelter. The ancestor of the golden jackal is believed to be the extinct Arno river dog that lived in Mediterranean Europe 1.9 million years ago. It is more closely related to the gray wolf, coyote, African golden wolf, and Ethiopian wolf than it is to the African black-backed or side-striped jackals. The golden jackal is expanding beyond its native grounds in Southeast Europe into Central Europe, occupying areas where there are few or no wolves. (Full article...)
