Speedy deletion nomination of Pronit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Pronit requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Eeekster (talk) 20:25, 25 May 2011 (UTC)

Haugtussa (Grieg)

You moved the page of the song cycle while it was on the Main page - difficult to see the page views now - and to a name which is not consistent with the other works of Grieg. So I waited until it was now longer on DYK and moved it again, hopefully to the final destination. I fixed the links in articles, the DYK-archive and my own, but not for other users nor the DYK template, - perhaps you want to do that clean-up after you moved? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 10:04, 2 September 2011 (UTC)

Indic scripts

Just so you know, if an article relates to India, including the Indian bit of Kashmir, there should be no Indic scripts in the lead or infoboxes etc. This is the outcome of a fairly recent RfC and is intended to stop a lot of needless warring of the type that you have been facing in the last day or so from the 131 IP. - Sitush (talk) 20:36, 11 April 2012 (UTC)

Featuring your work on Wikipedia's front page: DYKs

Thank you for your recent articles, including Stanislaw Lem's fictitious criticism of nonexisting books. When you create an extensive and well referenced article, you may want to have it featured on Wikipedia's main page in the Did You Know section. Articles included there will be read by thousands of our viewers. To do so, add your article to the list at T:TDYK. Let me know if you need help, Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk to me 15:56, 12 April 2012 (UTC)
The way I look at it is as follows: 1) do you want to bring to subject to the attention of others? and 2) do you want others to do the work that you should be capable of doing, and take their time away from other projects they could be working on instead? Thus I encourage self-noms. Note that processes like DYKs, B-class reviews and higher will involve a review of your article, so in general, the article will improve, and won't be rubber stamped. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk to me 20:06, 12 April 2012 (UTC)
1) why do I "want to bring" ....? - pruznosc czleka wikowego. If I wanted help, I'd rather go to a WikiProject or to the talk page of a major article on the subject. 2) If I stumble upon a morsel of wisdom or a pearl of wikibit, I would not think it to be a waste of time to nominate it. 3) I'd rather leave the article improvement to its natural flow, out of pure curiosity: who else would be interested in the subject? Recent Edit Surname Chatterjee

In your recent edit in Chatterjee article, you did not write edit summary, in your [Special:Contributions/Staszek_Lem|Contribution]] page I can see you generally write edit summary, so, most probably it was a mistake this time, which we can easily ignore!
Aboout the tags (bunch of tags) you have added, I suggest to change refimprove tag to unreferenced tag! --Tito Dutta (Message) 23:48, 17 April 2012 (UTC)

Let's talk on the first part first, And the reason that I tagged nearly every phrase is that in 1-2 months I am going to delete this text, if left unreferenced., - try to read the article yourself, a reader can not read properly and comfortably now! Another thing you can do, if you see the whole article badly lacks reference, propose in talk first, then reduce it stub deleting peacock term etc. I have made some fmt correction in that article after your edit! --Tito Dutta (Message) 00:18, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
That wa exactly my intention: I don't want it to be readable comfortably. The whole point of the tags is to make the reader aware that he has to stop and think whether to believe what is written or not. Good or bad, after 10 years wikipedia is a very common source of knowledge. Staszek Lem (talk) 00:21, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
Is/was there any consensus on it? A big banner above the article is enough, the way you have added "Citation needed" tag, people may confuse, what is the actual title of the article? Chatterjee or Citation needed! Anyway, I'll be interested to learn others opinion here!
And I have replied the second part of your post in my talk page! --Tito Dutta (Message) 00:31, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
The policy (based on wikipedia-wide consensus) is that I can start deleting all unreferenced stuff right away, since it was sitting there for 1-2 years. I am actually more tolerant: I am giving 1-2 months to fix the page. This is the consensus between me, myself and I. Staszek Lem (talk) 00:38, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
Yes, that's the point, you can remove unreferenced text, but you can not add (which consensus suggests to add) "citation needed" after every two-three words! And if there is any consensus in you, yourself and thee, go to your personal website and apply those! --Tito Dutta (Message) 00:46, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
Please don't go ballistic and exaggerate. I will add "cn" wherever I see fit ant right here on this website, too. And yes that's my point, I don't want to remove all unreferenced text everywhere; I want it fixed. I am not a deletionist. So please don't point fingers at me being bad guy here. I hope you will not start another common preaching "why don't you fix it yourself". The point is that I cannot: I don't have qualifications to judge the validity of references on these subjects. Staszek Lem (talk) 00:54, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
See the recent post in my talk page! And there are hardly 50-60 articles on South Indian religious figures, you found hundreds of poorly written articles in this part! Exaggeration?--Tito Dutta (Message) 01:00, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
You have already seen it! No, no, not any (rhetoric challenge), just want to let you know WP:India is working on these! I mean, not all articles are poorly written! And you can not say that only Indians articles are poorly written and this is little bit insulting: "So I have an impression that there is a separate Indo-English Wikipedia inside English Wikipedia" See WP:India, or add your comments there! Karatay Medrese

Hi, I see you have created a redirect page for Karatay Medrese. Antalya is a city of about a million population and Karatay Medrese was a Medieval Islamic instituion. They are not the same thing. If the rationale behind the redirect is the location of the medrese, then I want to point out the counter examples of Hagia Sophia or Piłsudski Square. The former is not redirected to İstanbul and the second is not redirected to Warshaw. Thus I think the redirect page should be deleted. Cheers Nedim Ardoğa (talk) 20:30, 9 May 2012 (UTC)

Useful Idiot

Thanks to Staszek Lem for the clarification on Wikipedia's policies. In an effort to add understanding to the term "Useful Idiot" and the earlier appearing "Useful Innocent", I took a trip to the library to identify uses of the term from the communist perspective. I was able to identify the term "Koristne Budale", which was original translated as "Useful Innocents" but has the translation of "Useful Fools" or "Useful Dumbbells" if one uses a modern Croatian-English dictionary; see modified wikipedia entry. Please stop following me

Hi, yesterday in a two-hour period you made edits to three pages I started: Murzyn, Spieprzaj dziadu!, and Desmalvinización. I find it hard to believe you jumped between the first two by chance, and impossible to believe that you found the third (not about Poland) without going through my records. While your edit there was relatively harmless (unlike your cutting of stuff on the previous two, which was not particularly justifiable (really, cutting the description of 'spieprzaj' as an imperative? It's pretty obvious it is and an uncontroversial claim)), it's not a good idea to go through an editor's contribs and edit just those articles (which is what you did with your last three edits last night). Please do not follow me around WP. Thx, Malick78 (talk) 16:20, 21 June 2012 (UTC)

Thanks from Etchacan

Hi! Thanks for your comment about "no original research". I was aware of the rule. As I don't really have any original work to contribute here, I must have omitted one or more references/ links, etc. Can you point out anything that you feel does need that sort of support and I'll do my best to fix it (or I'll remove it) Cheers, Etchacan (talk) 12:25, 4 July 2012 (UTC) OK, I may have answered my own question (by rereading what I wrote more carefully!):

(i) There is no citation on the way that negative heuristics were 'inherited' from Kuhn. I now think that this was too strong an expression/ metaphor: Lakatos does not acknowledge the link (at least, not in the work cited); I'll fix the wording to reflect this.

(ii) There is nothing on the general perception (among philosophers of science) that the idea of fairly "opaque" paradigms has evolved into the continuum described in my summary. I'll dig out the references on this, and cite them, in the opening sentences of the section on "Subsequent Developments". I didn't do this originally, as I thought that the idea of a continuum (from paradigms to professional imagery) was a direct implication of the material on Lakatos, Laudan, etc. This may take a few days, as I have to be away. Etchacan (talk) 08:17, 5 July 2012 (UTC)

OED

"Probably false"? What the hell are you talking about? There is no better etymological source than the OED. Do not get into an edit war over this; if you have some source that you consider more authoritative than the OED, which I highly doubt, let's talk about it, but as it is you are just trying to impose your personal preference.

Just so it's on the record, here's the OED etymology, revised as of 2006:

Etymology: Ultimately < Czech polka (1835 or earlier in this sense), specific use of polka Polish woman (feminine form corresponding to polák a Pole), probably so named as an expression of sympathy with the Polish uprising of 1830–1 (although the earliest English examples present difficulties: see below). The word was widely introduced into European languages during the 1840s; compare French polka (1840 or earlier), German Polka (1841 or earlier), Russian pol′ka (1843 or earlier), etc. Compare earlier polska n. and polonaise n., denoting different dances (and in the case of polonaise n., a type of musical piece with a different time signature). For the sense development in sense 3 compare polonaise n. 2.

Quots. 1825 at sense 1 and 1837 at sense 2, both from U.S. sources, are both surprisingly early in comparison with the European history of the word. It is perhaps possible that quot. 1837 at sense 2 refers to a polonaise or other dance identified as characteristically Polish. However, in quot. 1825 at sense 1 the title is apparently attached to a piece of music (in a manuscript copy book) in 2/4 time.

Several alternative theories are now discredited, such as that advanced in N.E.D. (1907): ‘the dance being of Bohemian origin (originally called Nimra), it has been suggested that polka was a corruption of Czech pulka [i.e. půlka] half, “a characteristic feature being its short half steps”.’ The word has also been related to Czech pole field.

Languagehat (talk) 23:22, 11 July 2012 (UTC)

Sorry colleague, OED is bullshitting. Nobody never claimed it was called "Nimra". OED got it by way of Chinese whispers. Also, to add a knowably false guesswork (about 1830-31) shows that the recent standards of OED are lower than in wikipedia. Also "Discredited" [by whom?] . Hello

Could we get you to read WP:PGCHANGE - think its best you dont tell our editors (especially Admin's) they must talk (ask permission) before editing - even policies. Best thing to do would be to revert the additions with a note as to why there was a revert.Moxy (talk) 22:24, 27 July 2012 (UTC)

Colleague, this goes both ways: if you edit, especially a policy, you must put a reasonable edit summary, not just "sp" (especially if you are and Admin). Also could I get you read WP:PGCHANGE once more: my advice was basically the same; in particular, I didn't tell him to talk (ask permission) "before edits". All said, if he is an admin, he probably does not need an advocate. I talked to him quite politely, so that he is not discouraged to talk back for himself. Staszek Lem (talk) 22:40, 27 July 2012 (UTC)
P.S. By the way, I have a feeling that some editors find it below dignity to talk in talk pages. I would recommend them to view talking talk not "Asking persmission", but gaining opinions for better wording. Like I said in the advice to this editor, it is not good that a policy page changes every second. One thing is to fix a grammo, another thing is to change a wording painfully beaten out into a commonly acceptable shape. Staszek Lem (talk)
Not what it looks like to someone uninvolved. Her edit summary looked fine to me cat, tw wording, rm1 see also - she added a cat, changed a word and removed a link just as she said. Your reversal edit summary was [don't]. Dont what? What cant she do? can you see were one might have a problem that no reason was give at all for the reversal. Then you went to her talk page and still did not explain the problem. So what are we to think? Who looks like they are in the right here? I see some better reasons during the edit war - but if all was done before proper there wold be no edit war.Moxy (talk) 23:02, 27 July 2012 (UTC)
<Sigh> Are you an admin with a big teaching stick too? Yes edit summary "look fine", but totaly useless: they say what, but do not say why. AFAIK, in the case of disagreement the burden of proof is on the person who introduces changes. If you are to teach, you probably remember (I don't) the alphabet soup for the "edit-revert-talk" procedure. This is my last answer to you: the person in question can speak for themselves. (Not out of personal disrespect, but I see it as waste of time: edit conflicts must be resolved "in context", not as a general-purpose mentoring.) Some of your points are taken, but I will not tell you which ones, so that you be not too proud :-). Staszek Lem (talk) 23:13, 27 July 2012 (UTC)
O well since your not willing to talk to me I can only hope you understand the problem at hand and in the future will try harder. Moxy (talk) 23:38, 27 July 2012 (UTC)

0.999...

I've re-instated the text you removed, edited a bit to make it clearer, as follows:

"The equality 0.999... = 1 has long been accepted by mathematicians and is part of general mathematical education. Nonetheless, some students question or reject it, commonly enough that the difficulty of convincing them of the validity of this identity has been the subject of several studies in mathematics education."

While uncited (as is the rest of the lead section) this is a forward reference to an entire section of the article, 0.999...#Skepticism_in_education, devoted to this topic, which is more than adequately sourced with inline cites to the literature. -- The Anome (talk) 00:59, 8 August 2012 (UTC)

Hi there, Staszek Lem. I have answered some of the concerns you left at the FAC for Augustinian theodicy; I was wondering if you'd seen and had any further feedback? Thanks. ItsZippy (talkcontributions) 15:24, 4 September 2012 (UTC)

Hi again, Staszek Lem. You said on the FAC talk page that you are not a theologian and are not an expert in the area of theodicy. Some of your recent edits, though well-intentioned have ended up changing the meaning of the text so that it is inaccurate (your last edit removed reference to probability, which is important in distinguishing theodicy from defence - proponents of theodicy would say that God's existence is probable). Perhaps you could continue suggesting improvements on the FAC page, rather than making them yourself; that way you can highlight areas that could be clearer, and I can clarify them in a way that still accurately presents the theodicy. Does that sound fair? ItsZippy (talkcontributions) 18:41, 6 September 2012 (UTC)

Me again! Thanks for the ongoing feedback you've been giving - it's been helpful. I see you moved your comments to the article talk page; does that mean your concerns have been dealt with? Also, would you mind if I moved the comments to the FAC talk page, which is where we usually put lengthy discussions at FAC when they're finished with? Thanks. Featuring your work on Wikipedia's front page: DYKs

Thank you for your recent articles, including The Man from Mars, which I read with interest. When you create an extensive and well referenced article, you may want to have it featured on Wikipedia's main page in the Did You Know section. Articles included there will be read by thousands of our viewers. To do so, add your article to the list at T:TDYK. Let me know if you need help, Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 20:45, 2 October 2012 (UTC)
Thanks, but no. I have several chances to see that the opinions of the DYK committee and mine differ considerably. 21:31, 3 October 2012 (UTC)
It may take some practice, but it's worth it - DYKed article will be read by thousands. If you need help, ping me, I have DYKed almost 500 articles, and I can review them and give you advice any time. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 22:58, 3 October 2012 (UTC)
I don't care how many will read it right now. There is another, technical reason: my writing style is bits and pieces added in random time slots. Therefore the date of my article creation is usually quite remote from the DYKable date, thus failing the DYK time criterion, and I am not going to change my habits without any benefit for me. Staszek Lem (talk) 00:59, 4 October 2012 (UTC)

Thanks, but

Thanks for helping with World War II looting of Poland, but re [4], please don't add unreferenced content. That makes it hard to DYK the article, or advance it to B+ class level. Already half of my work on this topic has been focused on verifying info in related Wikipedia articles, and finding references for the parts that don't match with refs. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 19:51, 3 October 2012 (UTC)

Sorry, I was not reading carefully. The text my passage based upon was talking only about some jewels from regalia. May be not notable for the purpose of this article.Staszek Lem (talk)

Polish-American

I see that you have added the line about Polish-Americans comprising the 8th largest ethnic group. Thanks for that. I also see we have some disagreement over the citations needed tags. I completely approve of your fact-checking, and I see you want evidence for everything. If you check in the link I provided, there is a table and data stating exactly how Poles comprise the 8th largest group. Race and ethnicity in the United States--Votevotevote2012 (talk) 02:42, 25 October 2012 (UTC)

I read your post and yes, it is convenient, isn't it? I love being able to have links like that in the intro. Now we can agree that there is information supporting the fact that they are the 8th largest ethnic group, and the citation-needed won't be necessary there. The graph shows 3.2% as well, which also knocks out any worries about that. And, since the lead devotes considerable time explaining the rationale for the 10 million figure, that also becomes a non-issue. Alright, since the lead has links like this within it, it won't be necessary to tag everything in sight anymore. What do you say?--Votevotevote2012 (talk) 03:02, 25 October 2012 (UTC)

Islamic sociology etc

I have userfied the other page to User:Staszek Lem/Islamic sociology, but I have also found the reason why all this material was reduced to redirects and effectively deleted - it was all based on OR and, worse, misrepresentation of sources by Jagged 85 (talk · contribs) who was eventually banned. For the problems with his work, see WP:Requests for comment/Jagged 85 and its talk page. When you have looked at this stuff, I think it should be re-deleted: let me know, and I will try to do that in such a way as not to confuse the tracks any more for any future information-archaeologist who may try to work out what hapened. Undo the inappropriate wholesale purging you performed on List_of_confidence_tricks

https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=List_of_confidence_tricks&oldid=484083837

You undertook a massive deletion in this article, for no reason other than your own personal opinion of what was or was not "notability", but also misapplying the notability guidelines to content within an article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Notability#Notability_guidelines_do_not_limit_content_within_an_article

Wikipedia guidelines aside: just because they're not well known to you doesn't mean they don't exist or aren't worth covering. The Beijing teahouse scam is one such example of a very common scam which you purged. You also deleted content about one of the most famous confidence-man movies in western culture, aka The Sting.

Restore ALL the content you deleted, as soon as possible - it requires manual merging, and since you caused this problem, you should be the one to repair it - particularly given the scope of the problem you caused.

In the meantime, I highly suggest you find some hubris, and re-familiarize yourself with Wikipedia policies before "applying" them, particularly if it is a destructive edit. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 134.174.140.200 (talk) 19:47, 8 January 2013 (UTC)

The text without proper references will not be resroted. Fictional confidence tricks from movies (and referenced only to moview) don't belong to wikipedia. Staszek Lem (talk) 20:25, 8 January 2013 (UTC)
You deleted the text claiming it wasn't notable, not because it wasn't referenced (you're committing a 'shifting the goalposts' fallacy.) Furthermore, saying "it's even referenced in a movie" doesn't mean that is the *only* reference, and this only concerns a very limited number of the HUGE number of confidence tricks you removed.
Lastly, it is not proper to delete pages upon pages of content simply because it isn't referenced:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Content_removal#Unsourced_information

"When information is unsourced, and it is doubtful any sources are available for the information, it can be boldly removed."
You removed the chinese tea house scam, for example. Had you taken 5 seconds to plug in "chinese teahouse scam", you could have read from the hundreds of stories about this scam, including numerous newspapers. That leads me to believe you made the edit out of laziness or personal opinion. You are welcome to restore anything you want provided you supply the text with reliable references. See WP:RS for definition of which references are admissible. Staszek Lem (talk) 20:10, 1 February 2013 (UTC)
Wow. I just found out that you claim membership to a wikipedia group (association of inclusionist wikipedians) whom "desire to change Wikipedia only when no knowledge would be lost as a result." Apparently purging 32,000 characters of text from an article doesn't qualify. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 134.174.140.200 (talk) 19:54, 1 February 2013 (UTC)

Aaron Swartz

Given the situation with Swartz, you might want to revisit the situations under which you use Template:uw-vandalism3. Since the facts turned out to be true, it's plausible that the contributor really was close to Aaron, and being accused of "disruptive editing" has got to be pretty painful. Maybe, in these situations, Template:Uw-refimprove would be better...though I'm not sure any of the standardized templates do a good job of dealing with the human emotions associated with recent death of a loved one. You might consider revising your comment on User talk:204.10.172.180. Thanks. jhawkinson (talk) 13:24, 12 January 2013 (UTC)

Many thanks...

...for giving it some more thought. It doesn't narrowly focus on the pejorative hyperbole of the so-called fallacy... whoever the morons may ostensibly be who'd buy into the false dichotomy, believing categorically that X is Y, ex hypothesi for no Y-reason whatsoever... it goes without saying that lacks relevance... because in point of fact, nature is good for so many things... I've reason to be uncomfortable with participating on that article's talk page... besides, I've already waisted all the time I intend to on that sorry excuse for a stub.—Machine Elf 1735 16:18, 17 January 2013 (UTC)

Appeal to Nature

Hi Staszek, I notice you have made some changes to the Appeal to Nature article recently, so hopefully this is a subject which still interests you. We are currently at a crossroads regarding what we want to happen to this article - among other things, it has been suggested that it should be merged with Naturalistic Fallacy. It would be great if you could come to the Talk:Appeal_to_nature page and discuss what form you think this article should eventually take. 124.158.16.35 (talk) 05:10, 21 January 2013 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Russian-Ukrainian wars

For future reference, disambiguation pages get discussed at WP:AFD. I've moved this discussion over there; this won't have a practical effect on the discussion, except (1) it's obviously now found in a different place, and (2) it will probably get more people who are familiar with disambiguation page deletion discussions. It still has the same title; it's just transcluded in a different place. Nyttend (talk) 04:25, 26 January 2013 (UTC)

For the sake of standardisation, the page has been moved to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Russian-Ukrainian wars. The old title will still work; it's just been converted into a redirect. Nyttend (talk) 04:20, 27 January 2013 (UTC)

Hello! Can you please explain this reversion? Thanks. —David Levy 14:51, 24 February 2013 (UTC)

I started to write a rationale, but then I realized that my logic was wrong. So I am going to revert myself.
My reasoning was that in page histories someone have already used these shortcuts. So for readability of history we must have these shortcuts available. But this logic applies to redirects, not to the "shortcut box". Staszek Lem (talk) 19:55, 25 February 2013 (UTC)

Question about edits on a page

Hi Staszek. Thank you for making edits on the page Guaranteed Rate. I found most of it useful in helping me grow my knowledge of wiki editing, however I'm confused as to why you removed the entire "Growth Strategy" section that I had written and properly referenced, along with changing the title "Awards and Accolades" to just "Recognition". WikiProject assessment tags for talk pages

Thank you for your recent articles, including Poles in Moldova. When you create a new article, can you add the WikiProject assessment templates to the talk of that article? See the talk page of the article I mentioned for an example of what I mean. Usually it is very simple, you just add something like {{WikiProject Keyword}} to the article's talk, with keyword replaced by the associated WikiProject (ex. if it's a biography article, you would use WikiProject Biography; if it's a United States article, you would use WikiProject United States, and so on). You do not have to rate the article if you do not want to, others will do it eventually. Those templates are very useful, as they bring the articles to a WikiProject attention, and allow them to start tracking the articles through Wikipedia:Article alerts and other tools. This can help you too, as the WikiProject members will often defend your work from deletion and try to improve it further. Feel free to ask me any questions if you'd like more information. DYK-Good Article Request for Comment

Template:Campaignbox Mongol invasion of Poland

Sorry, I reverted you edit on Template:Campaignbox Mongol invasion of Poland. The main reason is that you introduced a link to a disambiguation page. To make it worse, that disambiguation page has the same content as the template, so the link is absolutely useless. The Banner talk 21:28, 1 August 2013 (UTC)

I disagree with you, however I don't feel it is worth arguing. Staszek Lem (talk) 22:13, 1 August 2013 (UTC)
What makes you think that it is a good idea to link to a disambiguation page? The Banner talk 16:41, 2 August 2013 (UTC)
First of all, I got a bit confused when I undid your first change. Originally the link was to Mongol invasion of Poland, which is now a redirect. However in the future it would be good if someone to write a summary article about the whole history of Mongol incursions into Poland. And having this link in the navbox would be a good reminder. I am not a historian , neither I have time to write larger articles. So in this overall subject I simply created a bunch of "seed" articles (I hate the term "stub"; see below) to fix a confusion on the subject. Staszek Lem (talk) 18:09, 2 August 2013 (UTC)
When somebody writes that overview article, we can see what to do. For now, it just works. So, don't worry, be happy. The Banner talk 19:30, 2 August 2013 (UTC)

Why I hate the term "stub" and would like to use "seed" instead

Whoever introduced the term "stub" in to computing (what was calqued in Wikipedia by "code gurus" as "article stub"), IMO had a poor "feeling" of the language. The basic meanings of the term "stub" is "something cut off". And as such it has a feeling of inferiority, "secondarity". Whereas the term "article seed" conveys the feeling of the future promise of growth, the optimism, I would say. Staszek Lem (talk) 18:09, 2 August 2013 (UTC)

Good to consider. 'Stub'—at least in American usage—is kinda' burdened with negative connotations. Broken and of worn down. 'Seed'—I suggest 'sprout' as well—brings to mind growth and development. 'Seeding' ideas is already a common usage. --Kevjonesin (talk) 05:49, 25 September 2013 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Katarzyna Weiglowa, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Mikołaj Radziwiłł (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Accismus

Hi, there, Staszek Lem You might like to look at the discussion on the article at Cynwolfe's talk page. She's an expert editor on classical subjects and her doubts about it, as it stands now, echo mine. It looks more like a dictionary stub. Valid examples of usage would help; so would a survey of consciousness of the trope over the centuries (Jean Paul's mention of it would come in here). If the article isn't improved soon, without recourse to OR and dubious claims, I'll nominate it for deletion on a WP discussion forum. That either brings people to rescue it or else gets rid of an entry that has no part in an encyclopedia as per the guidelines Cynwolfe cites. Mzilikazi1939 (talk) 22:00, 29 September 2013 (UTC)

November 2013

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Loewe AG may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "[]"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

List of unpaired brackets remaining on the page:
  • insolvenzverfahren-in-eigenverwaltung-bestaetigt.html Loewe AG: self-administration insolvency]], a corporate press-release</ref>

Thanks, BracketBot (talk) 21:37, 7 November 2013 (UTC)

Given it's been kept at MfD, I've reposted a proposal to tighten it. See header. Cheers, Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 21:43, 9 November 2013 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Bochukov

A tag has been placed on Bochukov requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G6 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an orphaned disambiguation page which either

  • disambiguates two or fewer extant Wikipedia pages and whose title ends in "(disambiguation)" (i.e., there is a primary topic); or
  • disambiguates no (zero) extant Wikipedia pages, regardless of its title.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time. Please see the disambiguation page guidelines for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. ~ Boomur [] 03:42, 30 November 2013 (UTC)

As I said in the summary, tag the appropriate sections, not the whole article. I don't want to start thinking you are just a troll. It might be that I am on your side, but you have already attacked me twice, so I hope you can see that consensus is important here, and not POV pushing. Chaosdruid (talk) 00:31, 6 December 2013 (UTC)
Really? You removed my edits from the talk page without asking me first? You do know how wrong that is don't you? Wikipedia:Talk_page_guidelines#Own_comments
While I understand your desire to remove those comments, you should not have done it in thatway . It would be better to hide them, or comment them out (as per Wikipedia:Talk_page_guidelines#Others.27_comments Off-topic posts, Removing another persons comments is very naughty indeed. FAR Rus' Khaganate

I have nominated Rus' Khaganate for a featured article review here. Please join the discussion on whether this article meets featured article criteria. Articles are typically reviewed for two weeks. If substantial concerns are not addressed during the review period, the article will be moved to the Featured Article Removal Candidates list for a further period, where editors may declare "Keep" or "Delist" the article's featured status. The instructions for the review process are here. Chaosdruid (talk) 01:46, 6 December 2013 (UTC)

OK, now it has been demoted - as per my initial assessment - there is a lot of work to be done. I am going to be too busy to take a really hard look at it for some weeks, probably around the start of May. If you are willing to collaborate, then that would be great. I do have to caution you that I already feel that you may be difficult to work with, and you may feel that about me. Perhaps now you can see that I am completely unbiased, and free of POV. I suspect you thought I was "against" you, though now you may see things differently.
So, let me know if you are willing and I will approach others who may be interested to see where they lie now it has been demoted. If the article gets worked on we can soon get it back to accurate, and certainly up to a level approaching GA within a month or so. Chaosdruid (talk) 11:18, 10 April 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for your contribution to the Fraternal Society of Patriots of Both Sexes page

I just wanted to convey my thanks for your contribution and for fixing it up so that it would be accepted. It was the first article I ever made, and was actually a part of an academic project in my Technofeminism class where we were "wikistorming". As I'm a French major, I decided to translate a French wiki page (which in itself took an hour), and then to do the actual research in English. I had devoted hours to this article, and to be honest, if you hadn't put in the work and effort I probably would have given up after the last decline. Thank you for polishing this off and getting it created! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jessicklea (talkcontribs) 00:53, 16 December 2013 (UTC)
