Please, don't disrupt this discussion with personal comments to others. My comment on Grant.Alpaugh's comment was just to clarify the proposal. He didn't understood it. First, that was clearly not a treat. I alerted you that you disrupted the discussion and asked you to stop it. Second, for sure, Grant.Alpaugh didn't understand the proposal. My initial proposal was very clear about few pictures and he mentioned adding pictures of all the top scorers, award winners, and stadia. My comment on Grant.Alpaugh's comments was just to alert him and anyone reading it what was the discussion about. Nothing more than that. So, your comments were totally unappropriated. By the way, as I explained to Grant.Alpaugh, knowing well a language doesn't mean you understand what you are reading. Third, if I want to continue, I'll continue until I have no arguments. Anyone has the right to try hard explain and defend his/her ideas in a discussion. If you don't like it, ignore it, don't disrupt it. For example, I have already let it go your poor arguments in that discussion, I've questioned you once, you keep use them, what I can do, nothing. Minutes played

Hello! I don't understand why you changed so many minutes played values for top goalscorers on UEFA Champions League 2007-08 with this edit. They don't seem correct, and I changed them back according to UEFA.com. Please explain your edits the next time.  ARTYOM  07:09, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

Gee, that's weird! Seems like UEFA has different groups of people working on statistics for the website and press releases. But I had noticed that the website wasn't updating the minutes played correctly lately. For example, after Inter-Liverpool second leg in the round of 16, where Ibrahimovich was substituted after playing for 80 minutes, his minute count increased like he had played the whole match...  ARTYOM  09:14, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

Hello again, sorry for the late reply! The press release seems more accurate to me, especially because I noticed in the releases before and after Inter-Liverpool second leg that Ibrahimovic was correctly credited with 80 minutes. Other than the fact that we will have to change the source of goalscorers information after each matchday, I think we should go by the press release. 2007 UEFA Champions League Final

I note you have added an image to this article to "identify the match", I am unsure where the confusion arises, what other match does it get confused with if the non-free image is not included? Magic Number/E#

The magic number can involve the influence of ties.

The formula in soccer is THREE TIMES GAMES PLAYED SUBTRACT THE NUMBER OF POINTS WON BY TEAM A SUBTRACT THE NUMBER OF POINTS LOST BY TEAM B EQUALS THE MAGIC NUMBER

In the Magic number article, Points won is equivalent to "Wins" and points lost is equivalent to "Losses". The reason why there is you multiply by three at the beginning of the formula is because 1 win is eaual 3 points.

Lets say Bayern Munich is Team A and Werder Bremen is Team B.

The Formula is 3 X 34 - 60 - 34 = 8

To find out how many points a team has lost, multiply the number of games played by three and subtract the number of points won in the points column in the standings.

• A win = 0 points lost
• A draw = 2 points lost
• A Loss = 3 points lost

• Werder Bremen has won 53 points to date in the season.
• Bayern Munich has lost 24 points at this very moment.

• If Bayern Munich wins today, the 24 points lost remains 24 points lost and the magic number remains 25.
• If Bayern Munich draws today, the 24 points lost will increase by 2 to 26 points lost and the magic number will decrease from 25 to 23 because a draw means they lost 2 out of a possible 3 points.

MLS

Please don't act unilaterally to circumvent the efforts of numerous editors on the project to develop articles for Major League Soccer. MLS is a unique entity that has one foot in two sporting traditions (North American major sports and International soccer). Ignoring this fact is foolish, as it results in a number of aspects to MLS and its coverage on WP that are unique. MLS names its champion based on a postseason tournament that is unique AFAIK to the US, Mexico, and Australia. Attempts to shoehorn these traditions into the rest of the world's infobox is ungainley and unnecessary. I am new to all this editing and mainly provide information about Welsh Football leagues, cups and teams. This brings me to my second point, or question if truth be known. I believe you had a little disagreement with my brother who also uses this page, user:onshore. You poor fella, 26 years of sibling disagreement I can understand your frustration... I am a little concerned. Are you suggesting the deletion of statistics for the seasons 1992-2002? I have read your comments and side with you. Both the League of Wales and Welsh Premier League are the same thing just a name change and in the navi box it is easier to simply call it by one; makes sence, less confusing for new users. But I believe the information of the league before the name change should also be made available on wikipedia. My aim on this site is to provide all the information available to me on the Welsh Premier League, Welsh Cup etc. The lack of information on these subjects on the internet in shocking, I aim to recto fie this.

Statistics

While I think you're right about the freeflowing nature of football not requiring much statistical analysis, something like a magic number is far from a useless figure. It's simply an easy way to illustrate what needs to happen in order for one team to win a title, or qualify for Europe, etc. Also, I think you greatly underestimate the relevance of statistics to sports like baseball and cricket, where such a gigantic pool of data lends itself readily to averages that are quite useful. How would you like it if I said something along the lines of "All Europeans seem to be hopelessly obsessed with superstitions like form and your sports medicine is absolutely laughable." I mean seriously we here in the States literally roll on the ground laughing when people get injured and the "physio" runs out onto the pitch and sprays God knows what on the injury. You guys really don't know what you're doing when it comes to stuff like that, do you? See that wasn't very nice of me. :P Cheers. -- Grant.Alpaugh 17:29, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

They can though. Football is such a free flowing sport that traditional statistical analysis doesn't work well, but the new high tech stuff where they track how far guys move and every little thing is going to revolutionize (if it already hasn't) how the top level of the game is managed. Cricket matches are so long and batsmen get so many balls bowled to them that statistics provide a good idea of what a player is going to do. Obviously they can't predict how any given over will go, but you get an idea that certain guys are good for X ammount of runs and so on. Same thing with baseball. Statistics have been kept on baseball for literally like 150 years and .300 is pretty much the elite level batting average over any meaningful ammount of at bats and has been so since way back in the day, with .400 being like the absolute limit. While this doesn't predict how any given at bat will go. Baseball seasons are so long that you're just trying to get guys that can consistently perform on a good level, and these statistics provide a good benchmark because for the most part the game has remained unchanged for so long. A lot of that holds true for basketball and American football, too.

I actually think that the two issues (statistics and sports medicine) are related, because Americans like to break everything down into its constituent parts in order to understand each aspect of something so that we can maximize them all to achieve the best results. My experience has been that Western Europeans have a much more fluid attitude towards things, which is why Americans have better sports medicine, conditioning, and pure athletes, whereas Europeans seem to have better pure skill players (at least in football) than we do. Billy Beane who wrote a revolutionary book on baseball statistics called Moneyball is actually working with the San Jose Earthquakes to try to develop a better way to objectively analyze football and football players, like he did with baseball. Quite an interesting theory.

On the issue of form, my understanding (from watching, reading, and listening to a lot about football for an American) is that it's more than just if a guy is in a slump or not. It seems to be something that is inherently British about your sports culture, where everyone is either the greatest in the world, or absoultely terrible, with almost no room in between. That attitude has led to a lot of instability at all but the Arsenal's and Man United's, but it extends beyond football into Boxing, Cricket, Rugby Union, and a whole lot more. I think it causes you to be delusional about any flaws your teams might have when they are good, or overly critical to a fault when they are not. I dunno. Ritchie Jones Man Utd

Why do you insist on vandalising Ritchie's page as all the details on there are factual. There is nothing on Wiki to state that his England appearances cannot be listed and other players have these listed on their pages. Also, ritchie has not been offered a contract at Man Utd which by default means he will be able to leave on a free transfer under the FA rules for a player that is under 23 years old. Template Help?

Hey I was wondering if you could help me with something. I need to remove the round titles and the space they leave when you simply delete them, as well as the dreaded seed boxes we dealt with before from the Template:US Open Cup Bracket. I need to be able to grow the bracket as more teams are added to MLS, so this template is perfect except for the changes I mentioned. Well, theoretically it will work as an 8 team bracket if you include all the teams. Right now there needs to be 7 teams in the bracket with a game in the slot for Round 1 teams 3 and 4 because that's how the bracket works out. The problem is that US Soccer keeps changing the qualifying format, so if next year they add another first round game when Seattle Sounders FC enters the league, I would like to keep using the template if that at all works. Anyway, so in addition to removing the top boxes and the seed boxes, if you could make it so that I don't have to have a team in Round 1 team 1 in order to make the template work I would be most appreciative. It simply means in the template {{birth date}} that the date becomes before month. In the Jason Gavin article, since all the dates become date then month, I simply added the df=y addition. Peanut4 (talk) 22:03, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

If people have a specific date style set, then it overrides anything in that template. Adding it simply ensures that otherwise the date style is consistent. You could also add mf=y. Peanut4 (talk) 22:06, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

It simply means in the template {{birth date}} that the date becomes before month. In the Jason Gavin article, since all the dates become date then month, I simply added the df=y addition. Peanut4 (talk) 22:03, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

I disagree with moving Hungarian National Championship I and Hungarian National Championship II from Nemzeti Bajnokság I and Nemzeti Bajnokság II. Just as we don't translate Újpest FC to Newpest, or Castelnuovo to Newcastle...

I think, both should remain in Hungarian, since this is the official name of the Championship, it can't be translated.

The confusion probably comes from the fact that both the Wembley page and the page that lists the UEFA-rated stadia both list Wembley as 5-star, without any sources to prove or disprove the claim (in fact the UEFA-rated page is a mess full stop). How is that list reliable? That list is clearly wrong, Old Trafford has never had a 67,400 capacity, and don't say they have increased from that, you can check they have never had this capacity. Even if they did it shows how this list is out of date. Also this list could have been made by any mug and just posted onto footmad.net where did they get this from? Hi, i'm pretty new to wiki so i don't want to sound angry in anyway here as you probably did it for a good reason of which i've been stupidly ignorant of but was wondering why you removed the team emblems i used in my user boxes. Hi there. I've noticed you've reverted my phrase rejecting Laurent's statement in 1930 FIFA World Cup about snowing in Montevideo when he scored against Mexico. I know it's just a quote and so I don't pretend that Laurent didn't say that, but his memories are fuzzy, and so the decclaration may mislead the readers. I believe this fact should be pointed out somehow, though I'm not sure exactly how. Maybe something that just states that Laurent's memories are wrong. Please let me know what you think. I have to question you moving Leeds United A.F.C. club records to Leeds United A.F.C. records. Both Leeds United and you're favourite club list these type of records either under "Club Records" (on the Leeds Site) or "Club Statistics" (on you're favourite clubs site). Lists such as Record appearances are club records in that they are records of the most times any player has appeared for the club. Could you please explain your moving this page, and if possible get the move reverted along with the pages history?

Flags and Wolves

Hi Peejay, With the greatest of respect it is not me that is being unconstructive. I have spent some time improving the Darron Gibson article while you have just come along and made minor adjustments that add nothing. All I am interested in doing is making better articles but it is this sort of pedantic enforcement of MoS that ruins Wiki.

• Regarding flags. First of all I am not a big fan of using flags willy nilly but I think that in this, and similar cases, it is justified. It helps distinguish between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. You may know the difference between the two but not everybody else does. I only wish I had a pound for every time I saw a Wiki article were an Irish player was linked to the wrong national team.. It is not just a problem with Wiki. This Man Utd site incorrectly refers to Gibson as an Northern Ireland U21 international. In addition I cannot find any particular guideline against using flags here.
• Regarding Wolves. The clubs own website is called www.wolves.premiumtv.co.uk and it displays the word Wolves prominently. So if the club use the name why can’t it be used in Wiki. I've centered the table again, hope you don't mind but it looks really awkward sitting on the left. As far as the dividing lines are concerned, I've tried virtually all permutations and came up with this compromise, omitting all the vertical lines, and the horizontals above the images. I actually like this better than my other variant. Imho it strikes a balance between at-a-glance usability (esp. the info-triplet 'city-stadium-capacity') and overall attractiveness because of the fewer lines. Not going to unilaterally instate it though. PeeJay, please be careful over breaching 3RR - you appear to have made five or six reverts inside an hour to Premier League 2008-09, and I can't see that the edits made from 81.146.14.167 are vandalism - they merely reflect a different view as to whether managerial changes made in the close season belong to the season before or the season after. As it happens, I tend to agree with you and that changes before 1 July belong with last season, but dogmatically reverting each time, especially considering you have had a block for 3RR quite recently, may not be the best way to deal with this. However, i can not be agree with you in this case, otherwise we need to remove all the authentic letters from all the surnames. For instance: All persons whose origin of Eastern Europe (specially of Balkans and Turkey), Asia and South America... List is pretty long, you can check'em out in related articles. I wanna give you some examples:

The formation is actually different than how you show in the image. The back four are correct but the midfield and forwards are different. The formation was the same as Portugals. Rolfes took up right centre mid and Hitzlsperger left centre mid. Ballack played attacking mid just Behind Klose, while Podolski and Shweinsteiger played Left and Right Wing respectively. While I have sympathy for this anon IP vandal repeatedly attacking your user page (I've even reverted one of the attacks), I feel he/she has a point on adding the info to the Ritchie Jones article - the fact that he is available for transfer is at least as relevant as some of the other information in the article - the fact that his contract will end at the end of June for instance. I imagine you have read what I said about you reverting someones talk page, and you are aware of my feelings about that, shit like that is going to bite you in the arse, when you try to be an admin next time. I am not saying this to have a go, this is honest advice. I have no ambition/hope of ever being an admin, I am far too antagonistic for that - you however seem to take wikipedia quite seriously, and little things like that are the only barriers in your way.

I can understand you getting pissed off if someone removes your comments - been there, done that, but after reverting on his talk page, and having him moan at you, you really should have backed down. When I have the feeling that someone will revert my comments, I make sure they are on an article talk page, not a user talk page, that way no-one can touch them.

Qualifying Goals

Look at every Champions League or UEFA Cup article from the last few years and you will see that people have tried to add qualifying goals to the top scorers section until people point out that the goals were not scored in the competition proper. If you think that this should be changed, start by adding all of the World Cup Qualifying goals to the World Cup articles. My point was more that many Welsh editors - I've known some pretty strong Welsh nationalists, though I have to admit I don't know your views - would never let Cardiff have an English flag in that article. They would wage a revert war all season and into the next if people kept changing it back. But yes, you're right, there is a distinction and technically Cardiff would qualify for the English flag. Some of us closer to the club have better knowledge thereof, and therefore more accurate data could be added to the page. The only hurdle is sourcing. Anyway, rant over. I really disagree, they are official coins, minted by Austria (one of the hosts of the games) with the official names of the final stadiums on it, just to celebrate these games. This is verifiable and relevant, don't you think it should be mentioned somewhere. What is the relevance that there were broadcasting problems for example then? Can we discuss about it? Just a paragraph in the see also section does not hurt the article. If you are against the paragraph then let's just show the coins.

Let me end that I do respect your opinion about this and other articles, since I do see you keep them tight and consice. I just think this information should be part of it, nothing else. I will not look for consensus, If I do not manage to convince you, then no coins information on the article.

Aldershot Town 1992-93

Hi, I have declined the prod on Aldershot Town 1992-93. I agree that clubs that have always been non-league should not have season articles but the position (AFAIK and correct me if I'm wrong) has not been determined on clubs that have had both league and non-league seasons. Also, this club has 3 season pages including a detailed one, Aldershot Town F.C. season 2007-08 as a non-league side. Both of these non-league seasons should be taken together at AfD, if you deem appropriate, not as a prod to establish a consensus either way. Since some clubs now yo-yo between league and non-league it seems odd to blow holes in their record by deleting just their non-league seasons. Soccer questions

Hey i was watching Olympic soccer and I have some questions. Since you seem to be a soccer expert i thought of you. I noticed some of the players were wearing totally different uniforms than the rest of the players. one team had on yellow and blue and the other had white on white but for some reason one of the players had red and blue and one had gray and black. and one had green and black. i thought uniform meant "one form". how do we know which team the players with alternate uniforms are on?

Sorry for jumping in on someone else's talk page. From the context given I'm guessing you're watching the Women's final between Brazil and the United States. Brazil are in Yellow/Blue and the USA in White, the Brazilian goalkeeper is wearing grey/black and the american goalkeeper is wearing green/black with the referee's in red/black. The reasoning and history for all of this is detailed in kit (association football). Basically, the outfield players have to wear a similar coloured kit but the goalkeepers have to wear a different colour to identify that they are the only ones allowed to use their hands. After today I doubt I'll be on wikipedia for about a week, but I'll head back to Bobby Charlton to fix the things I've tagged then. They were more reminders for myself than anything else. With more sources and a good copy-edit of the England section I see no reason why we can't take this to FA.

Also, do you reckon it'd be worthwhile having a showcase section like they do at WP:FOOTY? Wouldn't be worth separating the articles, but perhaps it would be worth having one table with all the good content? Edit this section to see the proposed table. I was going to be bold and do it, but guessed there may have been a reason for not doing it before. Do you reckon it's worth it? Yeah I've got it as well. Not a bad read, although you could only justify using it for his early life and perhaps Munich, because the expectation would be that for his actual career there will be plenty of third party sources. To be honest there's not *too much* work to do. It's just a case of finding and inserting a good number of sources, rewording some POV language (or insert the language in quotation marks and add sources for every quotation) and we're almost there. My way of looking at it is if we start to get collaborations to GA or FA, and send out messages saying "well done to our participants on getting xxx to GA", that would in turn generate more involvement. George Best

Hi PJ2K3, I added the catergory "Reading FC footballers" to George Best's page because he played for Reading in four pre-season appearances. I'm perfectly aware that those appearances probably don't count, but it's well known in the Reading area that Best played for Reading briefly, and he's mentioned on the Reading wiki page. I believe he therefore qualifies to a certain extent for this catergory. Thanks, SCIAG (talk) 19:19, 9 September 2008 (UTC). He didn't have a contract, and I'd struggle to prove it if he did. Oh, and "gossip and heresay" doesn't really do it justice. The main reason I added the cat was that it looked messy, having him in the Reading article but not the cat. Anyhow, I can put up with it. I've just put up another Welsh player, and noticed he linked straight to your new page linking all Welsh internationals. It looks great, but just a word of warning on the birth dates; if you are using the WRU page or Scrum.com, which seem to feed off each other, are incorrect for many of the early players. If the WRU site didn't have an exact date of birth, they put them down as 1st July. I think there be another dodgy date in there too. Yorkshire County ECB Premier League

I still don't think an A1 speedy was applicable as this applies (to quote WP:CSD) to "Very short articles lacking sufficient context to identify the subject of the article." The subject of the article was clearly identifable and most of the points you made in your post on my talk page are contents issues rather than context issues. Specifically:

• There are no wikilinks in the article and it is not linked to by any other articles. Finally, it has no references so none of the info in there can be verified! All context issues and none of which are reasons to speedy delete an article. Indeed the lack of wikilinks is not a reason to delete a page full stop and a lack of inward links isn't really a reason to delete a page either although it could be helpful in establishing a lack of notability. Lack of references is a reason to prod or AfD an article but not to speedy delete it.
• The article does not explain what the Yorkshire County ECB Premier League is, and the fact that it was erroneously categorised as being an association football competition didn't do much to help either. The article does not explain that the league is a cricket league, only that it is "one of the best league [sic] in the country". Again these are all content issues so A1 does not apply. Given the obvious content issues I would have accepted an A3 speedy tag although in my personal opinion I would have thought a valid stub could quite possibly have been made of the article and so don't think it should have been speedied.

The nodes on the graph show the club's final position in the year the league finished so if Newton Heath changed their name after the end of the 1902 season then it is best to draw the red line from then to the first Manchester United node. Break

No-one in particular (certainly no-one on the MUFC project), just the general attitude some editors have taken and take towards some tpics, the whole WP:IDON'TLIKEIT bullshit. If you revert a second time, I'd still repeat the reason or rephrase it in the edit summary. Beyond that it is also important to consider if the statement is actually disputed or controversial, whether it is likely that it can be sourced in which case a {{fact}} tag can help to settle things for a moment. Hi, PeeJay! I noticed on your List of Manchester United players that there are a few players who have played 50 or more matches without articles. I wanted to start a stub article on them, but was looking for information on their whole career. Do you know of a website that has all the information for a particular player, like the clubs he played for, birth date, birth place, etc? I know there's Soccerbase.com, but that seems to mostly be for current players. For United players there's MUFCInfo.com, but it only deals with the player's United career. I don't have that much for a player who made 200+ appearances (the same is true of a lot of players from the 20s and 30s), but I've put in some small bits and pieces. My sources contradict the article in a couple of places: Canada is stated as the planned destination for emigration, and my sources indicate that United offered £150 for his services, not that City asked for £150. He isn't mentioned prominently in passages about either cup final, but I might be able to find out more about that - though I've worked on the articles for some of City's cup finals, I haven't done 1933 or 1934 yet. RE: Ryan Giggs

You're probably right about John O'Shea, although his page does say he's been at United from 1998 so might have a medal. I remember reading that the winners get 30 medals, so Scholes and Neville would almost 100% def have winners medals for both years. It's amazing how often people waste their time doing things like that. I'm a Liverpool fan myself so I'm the first person in line to insult Man Utd, but it's just ridiculous. BTW – If it interests you, and you've got the time, maybe you could put a little work in to the Rio Ferdinand article? Sentences like this aren't doing the Rio man any favours:

Colour with Rugby navbox templates

I have added a vote at the rugby union community here on the subject that I believe that is at the very heart of the matter. I support one uniform coding for all clubs out there, however for me they should have their club colours, and not in purple. The RWC template does not allow the use of colours to the best of my knowledge. As I said in the past, I am doing "my type of edits" for a lot of countries, lot of coins, lot of different topics ... I might step on top of one of "your articles" again in the future, just understand that it is definitely not intentional. My procedure is simple: I add information about a coin in Wikipedia, I check for article(s) that could also reference that coin, if it does not have a refence then I add it. Some editors do love my references, some do not; so there is no right or wrong here. If I add anything in the future again, please feel free to revert.

Wales-England border

I know what the guidance WP:BOLDTITLE says. The problem is that, without a bold title in the lead paragraph, the article looks odd, unfinished and scrappy. You may not agree, but 99% at least of articles have that bold title. In my view, the best solution (contrary to guidance) is to have the words closest to the title emboldened, as in my original draft. The second best version is my last draft, to revise the paragraph so that it contains the actual words of the title, emboldened, and in my view reads almost as well as the original. Your version, reverting to the original wording but with no words emboldened, in my view reads fine but just looks bad. Ghmyrtle (talk) 11:24, 24 November 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for getting back to me and I appreciate your comments, however I find the website extremely useful when writing articles on statistics in football. I also like the user interaction so you are in charge of what you think of the player. Other than that you have a clear indication of how the player is performing in the current season with the following tab - http://footballtalentspotter.com/player/cristianoronaldo-728.aspx?xTab=OptaStats - which shows that Ronaldo has scored 8 goals with 32 shots, giving him a 1 in 4 goals-per-shot ratio. As a 'Football Nut' I find this statistical information fascinating and believe many others like me will. The webpage clearly offers more information about the player in terms of football and pure football. Unless most fans are interested in seeing what kind of gel Ronaldo uses in his hair at IMDB. Seattle Sounders FC

Technicly Major League Soccer's season is kicking off about 1-2 weeks early. Actually, the way we don't do things on Wikipedia is to zealously ignore policy. WP:ATHLETE is, by its own admission, superceded by WP:N, which I have created a version of the article that unquestionably satisfies. The article is not a G4 - G4 does not apply to topics, but to article texts. I created a version that addressed the previous complaints by establishing notability via the alternate criteria listed in WP:ATHLETE. A G4 deletion would be completely out of process, given that the previous deletion was due to notability concerns, and this is a new version of the article (written without even looking at previous versions) that establishes notability under our policies. GMT is relevant because it's seen as Universal Coordinated time, and also because the majority of people reading an English Wiki article about football, particularly with an English representative of Europe, are likely to be more interested in the GMT of the game's kick off rather than the Japanese time. I believe you are incorrect regarding this, for example Moscow, does not use CEST,and the European Cup Final in Manchester certainly didn't kick off at 20:45 local time. Why did you remove the link on FA Premier League?

I added a link from the Wikipedia page "FA Premier League" to a page on footballmedia.eu that houses direct web links to the 20 official premier league clubs, and shows the URL's in addition, which I cannot find on the Official Premier League website. This makes it far easier for researchers. In addition footballmedia.eu doesn't have any advertising so I would strongly request that you re-instate the link. I have added the link on Wikipedia's 'The Welsh Premier' page as well as 'The Scottish Premier' page and the moderators don't seem to have a problem. I intend adding the link to every Wikipedia page of every top flight football league in Europe (53 to be exact). What is the issue you have with this link may I ask? Thank you. Jay I think you are acting contrary to what is in the best interests of consistency and impartiality. You have taken off the link I put to the Welsh Premier page on http://www.footballmedia.eu but you have not taken off the other unofficial sites listed there - both of which were added by their respective webmasters. Why did you remove the link? Also, there is an unofficial blog site listed, which the administrator of added the link, so again there in an inherent conflict of interests. FA Premier League 2006–07

Hi, I notice you undid my edit to FA Premier League 2006–07 with an addendum to the edit summary of "what for?".

I did this as currently the results table uses hyphens instead of ndashs, and this goes against the MoS. Also the XXX columns look messy, and seeing as fixes were needed I decided to implement the new template style at the same time, as it has the advantages of colour, standardised headers etc. Are you still against this change? world player of the year

Dear PeeJay2K3:

I have seen you a lot in football articles and I have to say you do a pretty good job updating facts, preventing vandalism, cleaning-up, etc. However, you seem to always want everything your way. Wikipedia is edited by everyone and to be viewed by everyone. When people wiki Ronaldo to see what award he has won, they would like to see the World Player of the Year Award. It is not your job to rate which award is significant or not. It is my job to add this fact to the article so that anyone looking for information regarding the award will come upon this. You are older than me; I hope you can get what I'm saying.

"Section titles should not be linked"

After I noticed you revert my edit to 2008 FIFA Club World Cup squads, I looked it up in the MOS, and you are correct that it says that. However, seemingly all other tournament squad articles contain links in section titles, and most even have flags too. The teams surely should be linked somewhere in the article, where should they be linked if not in the section title? I also notice that the accessibility reason given for the MOS ruling doesn't have a negative effect when the entire section title is a link, so there isn't even a disadvantage. Tbh, I tend not to question the MOS. Some of its guidelines may not make sense to me, but I always assume that there is a fairly good reason for anything said there. Anyway, back to the topic at hand. I too noticed that other squad pages have links in the section titles, but I don't really have the time to remove them all. As an alternative to linking the section title, I would suggest writing a little prose in each section about when the preliminary squad was announced, and then about the changes that were made for the final squad. That way there should be at least one instance where you can link to the team. – PeeJay 12:11, 13 December 2008 (UTC)

Having reread the MOS and the linked section at WP:ACCESS, the section at WP:ACCESS specifically gives an exception: "unless the link text is the only text in the title", and the MOS says section titles should not contain links, which doesn't explicitly forbid links when the whole title is a link. (If you interpret this differently, it clearly needs to be reworded to be unambiguous.)

The exception applies to tournament squad articles as long as flags aren't included too (they shouldn't be anyway, and aren't in 2008 FIFA Club World Cup squads). Would you agree with adding links now you've read this reasoning?

For the record, I dislike the prose idea as it means links would only exist in the page after someone has taken the time to write prose for each one. MTC (talk) 12:46, 13 December 2008 (UTC)

James Cairns

I was doing more stub articles on United players when I cam across James Cairns. It looks like there may have been two James Carins that played one game each instead of on that played two games. One of them looks to have been a full back and the other looks to have been a forward. However, The Website of Dreams says there was only one. Do you know which is correct?
